Shirley Ballas’ one Christmas wish is to be reunited with son Mark

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas is hoping to be reunited with her US-based son Mark this Christmas.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge was reunited with her son after three years apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions.
Mark, 36, is a professional dancer on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ across the pond.
And his mum’s biggest wish this Christmas is to have her son turn up at the door to spend the festive season with the family.
Asked what’s on her Father Christmas list this year, she said: “The biggest present for me would be my son actually arriving at my front door.
“That’s all the gift I’d need.”
Asked how she will be spending the holidays, she added: “I’ll be spending Christmas with my mum and hopefully my son and his wife and close friends.
“I’m not doing panto this year — I’ve chosen to have a year off and just enjoy the festivities.”
Although Shirley is taking a break from panto this year, judges Anton du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood will be partaking in some festive theatre.
Anton said: “In the last couple of years pantomimes have been a new addition to my Christmas.
“It’s been lovely to be able to do them because it feels like a strong tradition and I like anything that’s traditionally Christmas like that.
“But on the downside, you are away from home a lot, so you miss so much of it.”
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.

OHMYGOSSIP — Fleur East will always be friends with Vito Coppola.
The 35-year-old pop star is through to the semi-finals of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with professional pop star Vito, 30, and explained that he has helped her through tough times but joked that she is unsure how she will feel when he starts dancing with another woman on next year’s edition of the BBC Latin and ballroom competition.
She said: “I lost my big toenail a few weeks back, Vito clipped it off for me! I’ve got bruises everywhere but we were in rehearsals the other day and we looked at each other and said ‘ So we know that this is it, right? We’re in each other’s lives, that’s it?’ I don’t know how I’m going to feel when he starts dancing with someone else next year! I’m gonna be like ‘Who’s that? Why is he spinning her?!'”
The ‘Sax’ hitmaker went on to add that the ‘Strictly’ curse – a phenomenon that has seen past contestants on the show stray from their real-life relationships – is “not a thing” and the series has been a “blessing” for her marriage to Marcel Badiane-Robin.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she added: “I’ve been teaching him all the moves. He’s amazing. Honestly, you know they tlk about the ‘Strictly curse’ or whatever. This has been a blessing for my marriage! He’s become best mates with [Vito] and is texting him all the time. Also, when do you ever get a chance in your marriage to dress up differently every week and look really pretty for your husband at the weekend? There’s more fizz!”

Michael Sheen is directing a series for the BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Sheen is directing a series for the BBC.
The 53-year-old actor is due to appear with ‘Pulling’ star Sharon Horgan in ‘Best Interest’ as well as a second series of ‘Good Omens’ next year but is also stepping behind the camera for the first time for a show that was delayed by the onset of COVID-19.”
He said: “I’ve got Best Interests with Sharon Horgan for the BBC coming up in the spring and the second series of ‘Good Omens’ next summer. I’m directing a series for the BBC – the first time I’ve directed anything to do with the camera. I’ve been developing it for a long time – we were ready to do it earlier, but the pandemic shut things down.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Quiz’ actor is also starring as Coleen Rooney’s lawyer in the upcoming Channel 4 drama based on the Wagatha Christie trial – which saw footballers wives Coleen and Rebekah Vardy embroiled in a libel case stemming from a series of leaked Instagram posts – and believes that the infamous case said “so much” about Britain as a culture.
He told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “We only say what was said in court – that was really compelling. As an event, it seemed to say so much about us as a culture. Rather than just being about those people, it puts all of us on trial. Essentially there are two working-class young women being shouted at by posh men and everyone really enjoyed it: entertainment meets class war. Football and tabloids… I found it fascinating.”

The 50-year-old actor said: “If you ask (Netflix co-CEO and chairman) Reed Hastings… he’d say, ‘Hey, we went for quantity to establish a footprint.’
“I’m sure there’s wisdom in that and I’m sure they had a great strategy, but I would have said, ‘How are we going to make 50 great movies? How is that possible?’ There’s no committee big enough. There aren’t enough – you just can’t do it.”
Ben continued: “It’s a thing that requires attention and dedication and work and resists the assembly line process.
“(Netflix’s head of original films) Scott Stuber is a really talented, smart guy who I really like… but it’s an impossible job.”

James Gunn responds to Wonder Woman 3 axing

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn accepts that he may upset fans with his decisions as co-chair of DC Studios.
The 56-year-old director took to Twitter after it emerged that ‘Wonder Woman 3’ is not expected to move forward and claimed that he and co-chairman Peter Safran are still making decisions about the future of DC.
James said of the reports: “Some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, and some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.”
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ helmer said: “Peter and I chose to helm DC Studios knowing we were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told and in the audience itself and there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming.
“But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities and the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far and to help rectify what has not.”
James acknowledged that he and Peter will have to make some tough decisions but insists that DC is at the heart of all of the pair’s creative choices.
He tweeted: “We know we are not going to make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the STORY and in the service of the DC CHARACTERS we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives.”
Gunn recently explained how he and Safran were mapping out a “10-year plan” for DC.
He said: “The opportunity to make DC as great as it can be and as it should be – that is the reason why I’m doing this job because I know that Peter and I can do that.
“We spent the past couple days with a group of some of the best thinkers in the industry, the best writers in the industry starting to map out that eight to 10-year plan of what it’s going to look like in theatre, in TV, in animation, across the board for these characters.”

Kate Winslet addresses The Holiday 2 rumours

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet has “never” been approached for ‘The Holiday 2’.
The 47-year-old actress – who starred in the 2006 festive favourite alongside Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black – has responded to reports claiming a sequel is in development with the quartet poised to reprise their roles.
However, Kate told PEOPLE magazine: “I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it.
“I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.”
Meanwhile, Nancy Meyers – who wrote and directed the original movie – has also moved to shut down rumours a sequel is going into production in 2023.
She wrote on Instagram: “So many DM’s about this – sorry but it’s not true.”
A source had said this week: “The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the UK and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board.
“It’s one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world – it makes perfect sense to revisit these characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up.”
The original film saw Winslet’s character Iris Simpkins swap her home in Britain with that of Diaz’s Amanda Woods in Los Angeles as the pair want to escape heartbreak during the Christmas season.
‘The Holiday’ proved to be a success at the box office and has gone on to become staple seasonal viewing.
Meanwhile, Jack Black once forgot that he starred in the festive blockbuster when he was asked to name his favourite festive feature.
The 53-year-old star said: “My favourite holiday film – it’s got to be ‘Elf’.
“Jon Favreau and Will Ferrell just knock it out of the park.”
When reminded that he has starred in a seasonal flick, Jack needed some prompting to remember.
He said: “Do I have a Christmas movie? Which one is mine? Oh, ‘The Holiday’! Obviously, ‘The Holiday’! Nancy Meyers – genius.”

Seann Walsh blames variable mortgage for losing ‘thousands’ in his 20s

OHMYGOSSIP — Seann Walsh lost all his money in his 20s because of a sky-high mortgage rate.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star has confessed he had an “insane” amount of cash after his comedy career got off the ground, but rather than blow it all doing drugs, he simply squandered his money on his house, because he wasn’t paying attention to his variable mortgage rates.
He said: “It’s insane how much money I had. In my twenties, there was thousands, with zeros and zeros. I look back now and think, ‘Why the f*** did I spend it? All of the money went – every bit.
“I’d love to be able to tell you it was like ‘Wolf Of Wall Street’. Like, ‘I was Leonardo DiCaprio sniffing lines off a hooker’s a***.’
“But what actually happened – I wasn’t paying attention to a variable mortgage.”
Seann played to a sold-out gig this week, and joked before taking part in the ITV show he wouldn’t have been able to “sell out a phone box”.
According to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column, he said at his first post-jungle show at the Soho Theatre in London this week: “Here we are. Sold out, as well. It’s amazing. About three weeks ago I couldn’t sell out a phone box.”
Before ‘I’m A Celebrity’, Seann appeared on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2018, but he became infamous for his off-dancefloor antics, when he when he was pictured smooching his pro dancer partner Katya Jones, 33, despite having a girlfriend at the time, Rebecca Humphries, and Katya was married to fellow pro Neil Jones, 40.
Last month, Seann admitted he was “very scared” about signing up for ‘I’m A Celebrity’ after his ‘Strictly’ experience.
Before heading into the jungle, he said: “As you can imagine, I was very scared, after the last time I was on a big show, because the fallout was not something you would want to go back to.”
The star – who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Grace Adderley after three years together – revealed his partner “convinced” him to take part.
He added: “Grace talked me into doing it. She convinced me it was the wrong attitude to have, not doing it, because I feared what people would think.
“It seems that every single person that does the jungle says it’s the best experience of their life – so I’m up for that.
“I’m up for the best experience of my life. Who wouldn’t be?”

SAS Who Dares Wins heads to Vietnam jungle for new series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ will return in January, with Mark “Billy” Billingham as chief instructor.
The show will head to the jungle of Thung Ui, North Vietnam, and Billy has been promoted to lead the Directing Staff (DS) this series after spending half his decorated military career serving in the jungle.
He will be joined by returning DS, Foxy (Jason Fox), Rudy Reyes and new member of the DS team, Chris Oliver, a former Special Forces Operator.
Billy said: “Having been a DS on actual military SAS selection and Chief Instructor at the British Army Jungle Warfare Training School in Brunei, there is nobody better placed than myself to lead the recruits through this treacherous environment.
“I’m looking forward to challenging and encouraging the new recruits. However, I will not be accepting any excuses – this will be the toughest course to date!”
The six-part series will see the new DS lead 20 ordinary men and women through the punishing jungle phase of SAS selection, one of the toughest environments faced by Special Forces operatives.
Chris said: “I will bring a hard-hitting intensity to the ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ DS, being a fiery character with a very passionate approach to military training, with respect being at the forefront of everything I do.
“The values I intend to instil in the recruits, as part of the DS, have been forged on operations where we have lost good operators, so they had better be under no illusions – anyone who doesn’t play by the rules will pay the price.”
Rudy added: “Going to Vietnam for the first time, to film ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’, was an emotional homecoming for me.
“My father was a US Marine who did multiple tours of duty in the Vietnam War and because of those scars inside and out I never knew him while he was alive.
“But I was born with his passion and energy to be a Warrior and to go to the edge to find out if I have what it takes.
“It was an honour to work with the gracious Vietnamese people to bring the best SAS: Who Dares Wins series yet.
“And a humble honour to tread the harsh but beautiful jungles and rivers that my father, did, and in a sense meeting him in a warrior way, spiritually.”
‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ will air on Channel 4 next year.
