Ethan Slater boards Wicked movie as Boq

OHMYGOSSIP — Ethan Slater has joined the ‘Wicked’ movie as Boq.
The Tony-nominated star – who is best known for his role as SpongeBob SquarePants in the musical of the same name – has been cast as the love interest of Elphaba’s younger sister, Nessarose, however, he actually has his heart set on impressing Glinda.
Director Jon M. Chu made the casting announcement as production began on Wednesday (07.12.22).
The filmmaker posted on his Instagram Story: “Welcoming our Boq to Shiz University! @ethanslater it is an honor to have you attending. I’ve been a big fan of yours for a long time, and I can’t wait for the world to see you bringing Boq to life! (sic)”
The two-part big-screen adaptation stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda and Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero.
It was recently reported that Jeff Goldblum is to play The Wizard in the pair of ‘Wicked’ films.
US-born superstar Ariana is said to have rented a “stunning” eight-figure mansion in London to live in while she works on the project.
Chu decided to make the movie into two parts because it would be “impossible” to put the complex story into a single film.
He said: “Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the ‘WICKED’ movie. Here’s what happened: as we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of ‘WICKED’ into a single film without doing some real damage to it. With more space, we can tell the story of WICKED as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”
‘Wicked: Part One’ is set to be released in December 2024, with the second following in 2025.

Binky Felstead expecting baby boy

OHMYGOSSIP — Binky Felstead is expecting a baby boy.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star took to Instagram to share a video of her gender reveal, in which her five-year-old daughter India – who she shares with ex Joshua Patterson – popped a balloon to reveal blue confetti, indicating Binky and her husband Max Darnton are to have a second son, a sibling for their 18-month-old boy Wolfie.
But India was less than impressed with the result, saying: “I don’t want a brother.”
Binky later revealed India is “beyond happy” to be having another sibling after realising she will be the only girl.
She wrote in the caption: “We now have a great family video for her 18th birthday #SiblingLove … needless to say she is beyond happy now we’ve sat her down and she has realised she is the only princess still (sic)”
Binky recently revealed she has been craving takeaway pizza and cheese on toast, but is trying not to “beat herself up” about her food desires during her pregnancy.
She said: “The first trimester is always a bit tricky, but it wasn’t too bad this time around. I’m trying to not beat myself up for eating what I want like Domino’s or cheese on toast with Marmite.
“We’re normally a very healthy family, cooking good meals and staying active, but all I want to eat at the moment are the beige foods.”
The star previously announced her third pregnancy on Instagram.
In a video uploaded to the social media site, she was seen standing alongside her husband Max – who she married last year – telling their son and her daughter about her pregnancy.
While taking a stroll in the park, India is handed pictures of the ultrasound, and she happily holds up the photos of the scan.

Wonder Woman 3 ‘not moving forward’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wonder Woman 3’ is not expected to move forward.
The third film in the franchise – which was to be directed by Patty Jenkins – is said to be “considered dead in its current incarnation”, multiple sources have told The Hollywood Reporter.
James Gunn and Peter Safran – who were recently appointed as co-chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios – and Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy are said to have told Jenkins the project currently doesn’t fit in with the latest DC plans, as things stand.
Sources also admitted plans are still unfolding, and a decision is yet to be made about the next steps.
Jenkins is said to have recently submitted her treatment for the third motion picture, which she co-wrote with Geoff Johns.
Gal Gadot was due to reprise her role as the superhero after starring in the first two films, which were helmed by Jenkins.
Earlier this week, Gadot – who was thought to be in line for $20 million from the third film – took to Twitter to thank the fans for their support after she landed the part.
She tweeted: “A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman.I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU.The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you (sic)”
Last month, Gunn recently told how he and Safran were mapping out a “10-year plan” for DC.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director Gunn said: “The opportunity to make DC as great as it can be and as it should be – that is the reason why I’m doing this job because I know that Peter and I can do that.
“We spent the past couple days with a group of some of the best thinkers in the industry, the best writers in the industry starting to map out that eight to 10-year plan of what it’s going to look like in theatre, in TV, in animation, across the board for these characters.”

Matt Hancock to stand down as an MP

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock is to stand down as an MP, just days after taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The former Health Secretary finished third on the ITV jungle-based series, and less than two weeks after his camp success the 44-year-old politician said he wants to “engage with the public in new ways” outside Parliament.
Matt – who was suspended by the Conservative Party after it was revealed he had signed up for the programme – wrote in a letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: “It has been an honour to serve in Parliament and represent the people of West Suffolk.
“I will play my part in the debate about the future of our country and engage with the public in new ways.
“There was a time when I thought the only way to influence the public debate was in Parliament, but I’ve realised there’s far more to it than that.
“For my part, I want to do things differently. I have discovered a whole new world of possibilities which I am excited to explore – new ways for me to communicate with people of all ages and from all backgrounds.
“It has been an honour to serve in parliament and represent the people of West Suffolk. I will play my part in the debate about the future of our country and engage with the public in new ways.”
Matt has been the MP for West Suffolk since 2010, but was widely criticised for leaving his constituents to take part in reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
He also wrote on his Instagram: “I have today announced I will not be standing at the next General Election
“I look forward to exploring new ways to communicate with people of all ages and from all backgrounds.”
Matt quit as Health Secretary after he came under fire when he was caught kissing his former aide – and now-girlfriend – Gina Coladangelo, during the COVID pandemic, breaking his own social distancing guidance in the process.

Jim Beggarly has written the script for the movie that will also star Jeannie Berlin, Charlie Tahan, Kayli Carter, Michael Rapaport, Michael Beach, Sepideh Moafi and Bradley Whitford.
The movie follows single mother Wanda (Falco), who has her hands full as her eight months pregnant daughter (Carter) wants to get married, her mother (Berlin) thinks she is dying and he wayward son (Tahan) is either going into rehab or the army and she barely has time for herself.

James Cameron doesn’t worry about box office failure

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron isn’t worried about ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ flopping at the box office.
The 68-year-old director has helmed the long-awaited sequel to ‘Avatar’ in what has been one of the most expensive movies of all time to make but he isn’t concerned about it failing to impress audiences.
Asked about the prospect by Variety, James said: “I don’t worry about it. I don’t think anything one does artistically in life should be determined by the trolls and naysayers. You just go where you think it makes sense.”
Cameron – whose other movie credits include ‘Terminator’ and ‘Titanic’ – believes that if he enjoys a film then the audience is likely to do so as well.
He said: “But my tastes are so kind of blue collar and general. They’re not esoteric, my personal tastes. If I like my movie, I know other people are gonna like my movie. It’s very simplistic, really, ultimately.”
James is passionate about deep sea exploration and reveals that setting the sequel around the water was a “no-brainer”.
He said: “I love the ocean, I have spent a lot of time doing ocean exploration, other films about the ocean.
“I could have made a whole movie, a 3-hour movie, that was just about the reef. I had to kind of pull way back and say, ‘Alright, we’ve got a story to tell about people, about family, about conflict, about conversation, obviously.'”
Cameron is known for pushing boundaries with his filmmaking and attempted to shoot in the ocean with performance capture for the ‘Avatar’ sequel.
He said: “You know, everybody leaned into (the film-making process).
“I think we even looked at possibly shooting in the real ocean with performance capture. We looked at it, but everybody’s production instinct said, ‘You know, we’re gonna regret that.'”

Jenny Powell reveals her ‘golden rule’ for a better sex life

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Powell’s “golden rule” for maintaining a good sex life is that she doesn’t allow her fiance to have a television in the bedroom.
The 54-year-old presenter – who was previously married to Toby Baxendale and has daughters Pollyanna, 13, and 21-year-old Constance with him – has been engaged to sports therapist Martin Lowe, 48, since 2014 and believes that their intimacy is “still going strong” because they are making the effort with each other.
She said: “The intimate side of our relationship is still going strong. Martin loves my energy and he’s extremely patient and very understanding. I strongly believe that you have to keep making the effort with each other, or it’s a slippery slope. And my one golden rule for maintaining intimacy in a relationship is: don’t have a TV in your bedroom.”
The former ‘Wheel of Fortune’ co-host – who previously dated the likes of Take That star Jason Orange and former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Matt Goss – admitted sex has got “better and better” since she hit 50, but joked that if her “chiselled” partner suddenly stopped training and started to look like former Prime Minister Boris Johnson then she would have to “kick him into shape.”
She told The Sun newspaper’s Fabulous magazine: “Sex in your fifties gets better and better. Let’s face it, when you know someone so well and you’ve been through so many journeys, it’s just the best way to relax and enjoy each other. He does strongman training and pulling and pushing tyres and all sorts of deadlifting, and he does cold water swimming even in February.
“Heaven forbid, if he stopped looking after himself and got a body like Boris Johnson. I’d have to kick him into shape!”

Lucy Spraggan wants X Factor return

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Spraggan would welcome a return of ‘The X Factor’.
The 31-year-old star reached the live finals of the reality singing competition in 2012 after memorably auditioning with her self-penned hit ‘Last Night (Beer Fear)’ and admitted that because she is “close” to show boss Simon Cowell, she would like to get involved in a potential revival of the show following its cancellation in 2018.
She said: “I actually do think working class people and northern people don’t get as many opportunities as people in London. I would never have got my shot if I hadn’t gone on ‘X Factor’. By becoming close to Simon I’m in the best position to make that show safer for contestants’ mental health and give them aftercare.”
The ‘Tea and Toast’ hitmaker is due to release a memoir about her experience on the talent show next July, and she went on to add that the time is finally right for her to put pen to paper.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “There’s things that I’ve been waiting to say for a really long time and I had to get myself to a position where I genuinely felt strong enough to do that. Now that I don’t drink or do drugs and can self-regulate, I feel like I’m truly ready.”
Last month, music mogul Simon, 64, – who served as head judge on the show alongside the likes of Cheryl, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh, and Sharon Osbourne – admitted that if the programme was to return, he would bring the format “back to basics”.
He said: “At the beginning, it was very straightforward – you audition and then at the end of the series you get
to sing with a superstar. So if I was ever going to relaunch it, I would take it back to basics.”
It was reported earlier this year that ‘The X Factor’ was at the centre of a bidding war between ITV and Channel 5.
A source said: “After Simon Cowell decided to bring ‘X Factor’ back, he reached advanced talks with Channel 5.
“But now ITV execs have made it very clear they want the show. They’re trying to convince Simon to ditch Channel 5 and go with them instead.”

Love Island’s Olivia Bowen has ‘felt pressure’ to lose postpartum weight

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Bowen has “felt pressure” to slim down since giving birth.
The ‘Love Island’ star – who gave birth to her first child, son Abel, with husband and co-star Alex Bowen in June – opened up about the judgement and pressures she faced after online trolls made her feel insecure about her postpartum body.
She told Closer magazine: “I have felt the pressure to lose weight. But I know I’d rather look after my baby than punish myself being down the gym. I’ve had lots of new mum’s message me about losing weight because they feel the pressure to get in shape again.
“I think the one thing to remember is that there’s a choice to do it or not, and I think that’s the key thing. I try to tell everyone it’s their own decision.”
Most recently, Olivia was praised by fans for flaunting her “real” body, after she posted a picture of her post-baby body in black lingerie on Instagram in November.
The reality star – who appeared on the second series of the ITV2 dating show, finishing as runner-up – was previously subjected to horrendous online trolling.
After exiting the villa in 2016, Olivia struggled with her newfound fame and the comments made towards her body.
She said: “Even when I come out on the night, some of the hate, the comments were just horrible.
“I remember when I came out, I was tiny and I think I lost about a stone and a half of that because I was just stressed.
“And I remember seeing pictures taken of when I was working out, and at the time I saw them I was like, ‘oh God I look really horrible’. And these people were calling me fat online from these pictures.
“I was about eight stone, maybe seven and a half. I was tiny and I was getting cold and everything. And I looked at the pictures and I thought that I was [fat].”

Melissa Barrera: Scream 6 will be very gory

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Barrera has promised that ‘Scream 6’ is “going all out” on gore.
The 32-year-old star reprises her role as Sam Carpenter in the latest installment of the slasher franchise and claims that directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have ramped up the terror in the flick, which is set for release in March 2023.
Melissa told Collider: “There was a saying on set because Matt and Tyler were always asking for more blood and more sweat. They always just wanted more.
“‘More blood spritz’ was the saying because they would just always want more. With the last ‘Scream’, they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay.
“But with this one, they were like, ‘We’re going all out.’ It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.”
Melissa enjoys being part of the franchise and is thankful for the support of loyal ‘Scream’ fans.
She said: “There’s also something really, really special and unique about the ‘Scream’ fandom. They know that they’re part of a team. They know that they have to show up for us if they want another one, and they did.”
Melissa previously claimed that ‘Scream 6’ will be “more mortifying” as the story moves from Woodsboro to New York City.
She explained: “It’s like 20 times more mortifying. It’s awful.
“Because you also see how, in a city like New York City, everyone is kind of doing their own thing and someone is screaming for help, and no one will come to their help.
“No one comes to help them, you know, like, everyone’s kind of like, ‘I’m not getting into that.'”

Doctor Who’s 14th series will be shorter than usual

OHMYGOSSIP — The new series of ‘Doctor Who’ will be shorter than usual.
The BBC sci-fi show’s 14th series will feature ‘Sex Education’ actor Ncuti Gatwa as the titular Time Lord and former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Millie Gibson as his companion, and while most series have consisted of between 10 and 13 episodes, the show’s 14th outing will have just eight, plus a Christmas special.
Showrunner Russell T Davies told Doctor Who Magazine: “The Fifteenth Doctor’s first full season will be eight episodes long, with a Christmas special, making it nine episodes every year, and when I say Christmas, that’s my generic term for festive/end-of-year/holiday or New Year, you’ll have to wait and see. OK, that’s fewer episodes than the last full season. But give us time. We have plans, and that’s a promise.”
The ‘Queer as Folk’ creator admitted that while the sci-fi show – which last aired a full series in 2021, and a string of specials earlier this year – is set to return to the BBC this year for a Christmas edition starring former Doctor David Tennant and Catherine Tate as his series four companion Donna Noble, he has already started work on the 2024 special, and promised there will be no more gaps between series.
He added: “For the first time ever, I’m writing a Christmas Special … at Christmas! And this isn’t for next year, no, the 2023 script has been long since signed-off.
“The new one is for end-of-year 2024! It takes a while to get the empire in shape, but that’s a serious plan: annual ‘Doctor Who’, no gap years, lots of content, on and on.”

Keith Lemon cried filming last episode of Celebrity Juice

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Lemon cried during filming of the last episode of ‘Celebrity Juice’.
The 49-year-old comedian – whose real name is Leigh Francis – has fronted the ITV2 panel show since 2008 but decided that it was time for the programme to come to an end earlier this year, and he got “tearful” when shooting for the last edition was underway.
He said: “It’s been 14 years of me life. Maya Jama, who’s on the last episode told me she started watching it when she was seven.
“Not sure what a seven year old is doing watching ‘Juice’, she should’ve been in bed! But yeah that made me feel old. I guess when I look back I’ll think aye, that was a big part of me life. It’s rare to do a show for that long, but by eck it was fun! The best times!
“I do feel a bit sad but it’s also exciting to see what happens next! I got a bit emotional at the end. I don’t think that bit is in. I was in like some kind of emotional bubble.”
Keith – whose real name is Leigh Francis – told how when shooting wrapped he just came off stage and hugged his wife Jill Carter, 49 – who he shares 13-year-old Matilda with – as he teared up.
He added: “It was a bit like a dream, but I was trying to cherish the day. I came off stage and just hugged my wife and teared up. It’s making me tear up now just thinking about it.”
Over the years, Keith has been joined regularly on the show by the likes of ‘This Morning’ host Holly Willoughby, and radio DJ Fearne Cotton – who served as team captains – and reflected that while the trio didn’t know each other too well when the series began, they quickly gelled.
Keith – who will be reunited with Holly and Fearne as part of the series finale ‘Celebrity Juice: The Happy Ending’ alongside the likes of Big Narstie, Chris Ramsey, actor Will Mellor, Johnny Vegas, and Joey Essex – admitted that he even though he will “miss the show so much”, it has come to a “natural end” after 26 series on air.
He is quoted by MailOnline as saying: “I’ll miss it loads and I’ll miss meeting all of those wonderful guests that we had on over the years. ‘[Celebrity Juice]’ ran for a long time and came to its natural end. I’d love to do the odd special or some kind of live thing that’s in a similar vein to Juice. It was so fun. But who knows?”
‘Celebrity Juice: The Happy Ending’ will air on Thursday (08.12.22) on ITV2 at 10pm.

Sean Lock left 4 million to his wife and children in his will

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Lock left £4 million to his wife and children.
The comedian – who was married to Anoushka Nara Giltsoff and had two daughters aged 18 and 16 as well as a 13-year-old son with her – lost a battle with lung cancer in 2021 at the age of 58, and he is said to have left his family a seven-figure sum in his will.
Probate records obtained by the MailOnline reveal his estate had a net value of £4,084,911 which was to be handed to his family, and the outlet claimed that the late ‘8 out of 10 Cats’ star had instructed that his estate be held in a trust and that it be inherited by his wife and their children.
Earlier this year, Sean’s close friend and fellow comedian Bill Bailey raised almost £110,000 in memory of the tragic star, having completed a seven-day, 100-mile walk along part of the South West Coast Path to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The total has now reached more than £135,000 but at the time, Bill wrote on the page: “£100k amazing !! I can’t thank all of you enough for getting us to this incredible target.
“And a huge thanks to all our fellow walkers, all Sean’s family and friends who’ve walked every mile with me, and kept our spirits up with some great laughs, and reminiscing about Sean.”
The 57-year-old star walked from Bude in Cornwall to Combe Martin in Devon – which was one of his and Sean’s favourite treks – alongside other friends including fellow comedian Lee Mack.
Around the same time, Bill remarked: “Grief is hard to pin down, it’s not something that’s an exact science,
you never know how it’s going to affect you and it can sometimes just
ambush you … a phrase, a turn of phrase, a piece of music. Even a stretch of coastline that you walk, suddenly you get this flood of memories and that will trigger this response.”

Jennifer Lawrence was pressured to lose weight for The Hunger Games

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence was pressured to lose weight for her role in ‘The Hunger Games’.
The 32-year-old actress starred as Katniss Everdeen in the franchise and recalled how she was asked about how she planned to alter her body for the part – even though she was only 20 at the time.
In conversation with Viola Davis for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ series, Jennifer said: “In ‘Hunger Games’, it was an awesome responsibility. Those books were huge, and I knew that the audience was children. I remember the biggest conversation was, ‘How much weight are you going to lose?’
“Along with me being young and growing and not able to be on a diet, I don’t know if I want all of the girls who are going to dress up as Katniss to feel like they can’t because they’re not a certain weight. And I can’t let that seep into my brain either.”
Lawrence also recalled how outsiders suggested that the franchise wouldn’t work with a female at the heart of the story.
The ‘Causeway’ star said: “I remember when I was doing ‘Hunger Games’, nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work – because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead.
“And it just makes me so happy every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every one of those beliefs, and proves that it is just a like to keep certain people out of the movies. To keep certain people in the same positions that they’ve always been in.”
Jennifer said her role in ‘The Hunger Games’ was a big contrast to her portrayal of Mystique in the ‘X-Men’ movies even though they are both major franchises.
She explained: “When I was doing ‘X-Men’, it’s hard to not have that perception of the movie that’s like, ‘Oh, well, it’s just one of those.’ Especially when you’re painted blue with scales on your face. If you start thinking, ‘I look ridiculous, I feel ridiculous,’ there’s nowhere to go.”

Chu made the casting announcement as production began on Wednesday (07.12.22).

Natalie Cassidy shared wine and curry nights with EastEnders co-star June Brown

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Cassidy used to have wine and curry nights with her ‘EastEnders’ co-star June Brown.
The 39-year-old actress has played Sonia in the long-running BBC soap opera since 1993 and had known Dot Cotton star June – who died in April aged 95 – since she was a child and she’s now opened up about the pair’s sweet friendship which involved boozy nights in where they would help each other learn their lines.
According to The Daily Star newspaper, Natalie said: “We had such fun. We went on holiday together. She used to stay at my flat. We got a curry and a bottle of wine and read our lines.
“I’m a bit of an old soul. Instead of going out with the youngsters I was working with, I would always spend my time with June.
“We used to go for lunch in the canteen. We would chat away. And I spent hours and hours with June in her dressing room, chatting about life.”
While speaking at an EastEnders press event, Natalie went on to talk about the upcoming extended episode which features Dot’s funeral and is due to air on December 12.
According to Digital Spy, she explained: “I see it as something that you have to sit down and watch. It’s a moment in television history and I think everyone should sit with a small glass of sherry.
“I think this is absolutely needed for June’s send-off, Dot’s send-off, to sit down with your family and say: ‘This is a piece of television that’s very, very special”.
