Lady Gaga in ‘early talks’ to play Harley Quinn in Joker sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga is in early talks to star in the ‘Joker’ sequel, which is set to be a musical.
The ‘House of Gucci’ actress is said to be in discussions about taking on the role of Harley Quinn – who was played by Margot Robbie in 2016 and 2021 movies ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘The Suicide Squad’ – in Todd Phillips’ follow-up film.
Joaquin Phoenix played the titular character in 2019’s ‘Joker’, but sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros. are yet to close a deal for him to star in the sequel.
If Gaga signs up for the movie then she is expected to play Quinn, who has an on/off abusive relationship with Joker.
Sources have also told the publication that the motion picture will be a musical movie.
Phillips – who directed the original psychological thriller – has been working on the script for the sequel with Scott Silver, who he co-wrote the first movie alongside.
Last week, he appeared to confirm the sequel will be titled ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’.
The French phrase translates as “shared madness” and is used to describe a delusion shared by two people in close proximity.
It wouldn’t be the first time Gaga and Phillips have worked together after he produced 2018 musical movie ‘A Star is Born’, which featured Gaga and Bradley Cooper – who co-produced ‘Joker’ alongside Phillips and Emma Tillinger Koskoff – in the lead roles.
The first ‘Joker’ movie was a huge box office success, grossing more than $1 billion on a budget of $55 million.
The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and Phoenix won Best Actor for his portrayal of mentally disturbed Arthur Fleck, who evolves into the iconic Batman villain by the end of the story, and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir won the Best Original Score gong.
Phillips received huge acclaim for the movie, but the director previously claimed audiences overlooked one of the film’s central themes.
He explained: “If I had to drill down on one overarching theme for me, it’s about the power of kindness and a lot of people miss that.
“I think if you don’t see that you either don’t have a soul or you’re being reductive to make up for your own struggles in that area.
“But, really, to me, that’s where it started from and there are other things in the movie like lack of love, the lack of empathy in society, and childhood trauma, but the power of kindness really runs through this film.”

Dr Alex George confesses to comfort eating during ‘stressed’ times

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr Alex George turns to “unhealthy foods” when he gets “stressed”.
The former ‘Love Island’ star has confessed he chows down on calorific treats now and again to give him some physical ease during tough times, but since speaking to his therapist about it he has tried to swap comfort eating for exercise.
He said: “I was talking with my therapist about coping mechanisms because when I’m stressed, I turn to unhealthy foods.
“She always says to me to think about what purpose is it serving? Over the last couple of years, I’ve become more self-aware of patterns of behaviour.
“Most of what we do is to fill a gap or a hole and give you a sense of feeling comfort and food has been that for me.”
The 31-year-old star has been enjoying walking and going to the gym, as well as swimming.
He added to MailOnline: “Walking is huge and I love going out and walking and the gym, I’ve really got back into exercising.
“I’ve been swimming, there’s something about the monotony of swimming that I like, which I know sounds odd.”
The doctor took part in the ITV2 dating show in 2018 after his friend from university, Freya Barlow, encouraged him to seize any opportunities before she sadly lost her life to cancer at the age of 22.
He previously said: “We sat down and said our goodbyes. She said, ‘I know you’re an introvert who hides away from stuff. I’m not able to live the life I want. I want you to go out there and take opportunities.’
“It would be easy for me to say, ‘I’m a doctor, I’m not doing this’, and I thought, ‘No, I’m going to do it.’ ”
Last year, Alex – who tragically lost his younger brother Llŷr to suicide in 2020 at the age of 19 – was appointed as a Youth Mental Health Ambassador by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Rian Johnson reveals title of Knives Out sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson has revealed the title of the ‘Knives Out’ sequel.
The new movie will be titled ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ and is slated for release on Netflix in late 2022.
Daniel Craig reprises his role as Detective Benoit Blanc in the sequel with a cast that includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.
The new flick sees Blanc travel to Greece to solve a mystery involving a new cast of colourful suspects.
Rian will direct and has written the script. He is also producing with Ram Bergman for their T-Street banner.
The ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ director explained how he hopes to emulate the classic whodunnit mysteries from author Agatha Christie.
In a Twitter post on Monday (13.06.22), Rian explained: “Something I love about Agatha Christie is how she never treads water creatively. I think there’s a misconception that her books use the same formula over and over, but fans know the opposite is true.
“It wasn’t just settings or murder methods, she was constantly stretching the genre conceptually. Under the umbrella of the whodunnit, she wrote spy thrillers, proto-slasher horrors, serial killer hunts, gothic romances, psychological character studies, glam travelogues.”
Rian continued: “When I made ‘Knives Out’, that’s what excited me about the prospect of making more mysteries with Daniel as Benoit Blanc – to emulate Christie and have every film be like a whole new book, with its own tone, ambition, reason for being… and (ta dah) title.”
The original ‘Knives Out’ was a critical and commercial hit when it was released in 2019. Netflix won the rights for two sequels in a $469 million deal in 2021 – with Craig returning to star in both movies.

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Lin is to direct ‘One Punch Man’.
The 50-year-old filmmaker is attached to helm a live-action adaptation of the global hit manga series for Sony Pictures.
Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing the movie with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner writing the script.
Justin will also be a producer and will work with the writers on a new version of the screenplay with the aim of starting production by the end of the year.

Sony Pictures is hoping that the flick proves to be the beginning of a franchise.
Justin has directed a number of movies in the ‘Fast and Furious’ series but won’t be taking the lead on the latest film ‘Fast X’.
The movie is already in production and is due to be released in May 2023. Lin is now involved as a producer with Louis Leterrier replacing him as director.
In a statement, Lin said: “With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of ‘Fast X’, while remaining on the project as a producer.

Justin discussed his pride in the diverse cast of the franchise and added that will “forever be grateful” to those involved in the films.
He continued: “On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history.
“I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family.”

Lorraine Kelly drops ‘two dress sizes’ since gaining more than a stone in lockdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly has dropped “two dress sizes” after gaining more than a stone in lockdown.
The 62-year-old TV legend admitted that prior to lockdown she was “doing well” with her weight but was unable to “enjoy wearing [her] clothes” after gaining weight during the pandemic.
She said: “Before lockdown, I was doing well with my weight. I was doing my exercise class several times a week, I was a stable size 10 and doing just fine, and then wham – COVID happened and everything shut down. Exercise classes stopped virtually overnight, I started comfort eating and having naughty glasses of wine on a school night.
“Over the past couple of years the weight kept going on and on, and you think you’re OK but for someone who’s always managed to get into a size 10, I was struggling to get into a 14. I really thought I’d be into a 16 if I kept going, and I wasn’t enjoying wearing my clothes anymore because I was trying to fit into everything.”
However, the breakfast television star then turned to WW (Weight Watchers) for help and spoke of her excitement of being able to fit back into her jeans at the start of 2022, and she now has the “confidence” to get out again.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “I knew I needed a bit of help, so I joined WW and with the help of others and the app I dropped two dress sizes and managed to get back into my size 10s at the end of January.
“Being able to get back into my size 10 jeans was a big deal and also being able to get into the dress I wore to the BAFTAs – a size 10 red Phase Eight high-street dress – was a great moment. The zip went right up and I didn’t even need serious underwear!
“I must have put on more than a stone and a half – I was about 11st 10 lbs – but for me, it was not just about fitting into my posh black frock that wouldn’t go over my bottom but about being happy in myself.
“I went to the BAFTAs and really enjoyed the day but I wouldn’t have gone to the ceremony in the beginning of January. I just wouldn’t have had the confidence to get up on stage. Now I feel like going out again!”

Michael Owen sought professional help after accusing wife of spending too much time with Gemma Owen

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Owen sought “professional help” after he accused his wife of spending “all her time” with their eldest daughter, ‘Love Island’ star Gemma Owen.
The former England striker has confessed to previously being “really hard” on his wife, Louise Bonsall, because of his “inner demons”, even admitting he once accused her of spending too much time with 19-year-old Gemma and “ignoring” their other children.
In his 2020 autobiography ‘Reboot’, the former Liverpool forward wrote: “To my surprise, I found myself standing at a figurative cliff edge in 2014.
“A lifetime of that certain type of mentality, of behaviour, had led me to a point where I had to seek professional help …
“For years, because of my own inner demons, I was intentionally really hard on Louise about subjects that I knew would push her buttons most — not least her close relationship with our daughter Gemma.
“Let me be very clear and say that none of this was in any way a reflection on how I felt about either Gemma or Louise. I love them both with all of me.
“I’d take everything out on Louise, though. I’d accuse her of spending all her time with her eldest and ignoring the other kids. It wasn’t even true.”
But Michael – who also has son James, 16, and daughters Emily, 14, and Jessica, 12, with Louise – admitted seeking help was a “revelation” for him.
He added: “I stared into an abyss called divorce, panicking … the whole process was a revelation.”
International dressage rider Gemma entered the ‘Love Island’ villa for the series eight launch last week, and over the weekend Michael admitted he was surprised the Islanders share a bed with each other despite having only just met.
He said: “It’s not something any father wants to watch, is it?
“I said to Louise, ‘Do they really have to sleep together, like in the same bed?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘I did not bank on this.’
“Luckily for me, there was no physical contact. Gemma had her back to the guy.
“here was space between them. I thought, ‘Good girl.’ No father wants to see physical contact, do they? I certainly don’t.
“If there is physical contact I think I’ll be throwing something at the screen. I don’t want to see kissing. Do not make me see kissing!”

Tasha Ghouri’s dad put a ‘letter of support’ in her bag before she left for Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Tasha Ghouri’s dad put a “letter of support” in her bag before she left for ‘Love Island’.
The 23-year-old model is currently taking part in the hit ITV2 dating show in Mallorca as the show’s first-ever deaf contestant, and her dad Tarek has told how he has been “blown away” by how well she has “conducted herself”.
He said: “She does have a letter in her bag from me that she can get out at any time during the show when she needs some support, and if she needs it she will pull it out, for sure. I am blown away with how she’s conducted herself – she’s conducted herself in such a good way.
“The way she approached her hearing and explained to people about the cochlear implant was absolutely fantastic and a big moment of pride for me.”
During her introduction on the show, the dancer – who hails from Thirsk in North Yorkshire – described her disability as a “superpower” and Tarek gushed about how proud he is of Tasha for accepting herself and speaking up for others.
He told OK!: “Something clicked and she thought, ‘This is me and I have to accept this and I am not going to let this stop me.’ And where she is now proves that. [Representation] is absolutely important.
“It’s one of the reasons she is so happy to be on ‘Love Island’. She is providing representation for the community and inspiring other boys and girls to achieve whatever it is they want to achieve.
“Outside of modelling and dancing, she spends a lot of time raising awareness with her Instagram page Talks With Tasha – she is often inundated with messages from young kids saying how they are inspired by her.
“That inspires her in a way, and really drives her forward to do even more.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Kylie Minogue: Neighbours return is ‘blink and you’ll miss me moment’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue says her ‘Neighbours’ return is a “blink and you’ll miss me” moment.
The ‘Loco-Motion’ singer started off her career as an actress on the Australian soap as Charlene Robinson alongside Jason Donovan – who played Charlene’s husband Scott Robinson – in the 1980s, and she admitted it was “emotional” returning to the show’s set to film her cameo for the programme’s finale after 37 years on air.
She told Sky News it was a “blink and you’ll miss me” moment, and added: “It was emotional going back to the set and felt beautiful, actually, the fact that we could see each other.
“I haven’t seen these people in – some of them – for over 30 years.
“And, you know, life passes by and we’ve all gone through different stuff. And just to kind of be face-to-face and say, wow, this is part of our history. It was great.”
‘Neighbours’, which first aired in 1985, is ending after producers Fremantle Media couldn’t find a buyer for future episodes.
A spokesperson said in March: “It is with sadness that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast, we are confirming that ‘Neighbours’ will cease production in the summer.
“Following the loss of a key broadcast partner in the UK, and despite a search for alternative funding, we currently have no option but to rest the show.”
The show – which has also helped to springboard the careers of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ actress Margot Robbie, and ‘Torn’ singer Natalie Imbruglia – filmed its final episode last week.

Kirsty Gallacher: I gained so much muscle my clothes were popping out

OHMYGOSSIP — Kirsty Gallacher gained “too much muscle” after a series of intensive gym workouts.
The 46-year-old TV presenter – who was married to rugby star Paul Sampson from 2010 until 2015 – hit the gym in the years following her divorce but admitted she had been left with a look that “didn’t suit her” after lifting weights which were too heavy for her natural frame.
She said: “I was lifting too many weights for my frame. A few people were like, ‘That doesn’t suit you!’ so I’ve come down on weight. I’ve got that strength, but I don’t want to get too bulky again because it just didn’t look right on me. My clothes were popping out.”
However, the former Sky Sports News presenter admitted these days she controls her weight by following an “intermittent fasting” regime and will only eat during certain hours of the day.
Speaking during an Instagram Live with Top Santé, she said: “I do a lot of intermittent fasting. I don’t eat before 12, usually between 12-6 is when I eat.”
Kirsty – who has children Oscar, 15, and Jude, 10 with her ex-husband – previously explained that she was left “skinny and traumatised” following the collapse of her marriage and was “saved” by meeting her personal trainer Mel Deane.
In 2020, she said: “To be honest, well, that’s sort of when I came to meeting Mel [Deane] and probably he saved me in many ways. I was a skinny, anxious wreck, traumatised because of lots of reasons around the divorce. [The divorce] was much more complex than people know but there are things you keep private. And I think that Mel got to know me and what I’d been through and was amazing for me.”

BBC Radio 2 star Richie Anderson set for Strictly Come Dancing?

OHMYGOSSIP — Richie Anderson is set to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The openly gay BBC Radio 2 DJ has garnered tens of thousands of Instagram followers, and he is reportedly wanted by BBC bosses in an attempt to further “diversify” the line-up of the ballroom dancing competition when it returns to screens in autumn 2022.
A source said: “As an out-and-proud gay man, Richie would help make it a diverse line-up — and would obviously have the option of dancing with a male pro.”
The insider went on to explain that following on from last year’s show – which saw former ‘Bake Off’ star John Whaite finish runner-up with professional partner Johannes Radebe as the first all-male pairing – producers are keen to keep the same-sex couple as a regular feature on the show and are also keen to include “lesser-known” celebrities on the show.
The source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “‘Strictly’ are keen to keep the same-sex partnership as a regular feature on the show and Richie might just help them with that. They also like less well-known stars to be in the mix, as they like celebrity contestants to go on a journey from underdog to top dog.”
The source added that prior to their success on the show, former winners such as documentary host Stacey Dooley – who took the Glitterball Trophy alongside Kevin Clifton back in 2018 – and ‘EastEnders’ actress Rose Ayling Ellis, who was crowned winner in 2022 alongside Giovanni Pernice, had a “relatively low profile” before their victories on the show helped them to become “household names”.
The source explained: “Some of the programme’s biggest names have gone from having a relatively low profile to becoming household names via that route.
“Only a limited number of people knew of Stacey Dooley and Rose Ayling-Ellis before they went on ‘Strictly’.
“Now they are huge names because they triumphed.”

Lea Seydoux was heartbroken by No Time To Die ending

OHMYGOSSIP — Lea Seydoux was left devastated by the ending of ‘No Time To Die’.
The 36-year-old star played Bond girl Madeleine Swann in the 007 blockbuster – which ended in the death of Craig’s version of the spy – and Lea was heartbroken by Bond’s tragic end.
In an interview with Den of Geek, Lea said: “I still can’t believe that that’s what they decided, that he’s gone. I remember that when I read the script, I knew it and I had to keep the secret.”
Despite the death of Craig’s version of Bond, Lea hopes that the franchise continues with a new face stepping into the role of 007.
The ‘Crimes of the Future’ star said: “It made me sad, actually, it made me really sad. But I hope they will find a new way to – you know they will find something else.”
The decision to kill off Craig’s Bond in ‘No Time To Die’ has divided opinion – with James Bond author Anthony Horowitz saying it was the wrong move – but the actor himself was “very satisfied” with the conclusion, where Bond sacrificed himself to save partner Madeleine and his daughter Matilde (Lisa-Dorah Sonnet).
Daniel, 54, said: “There were lots of different ideas that came and went and some of it stuck. The through line of this is family (and) love, plus the fact we had an end so it was about hanging the film off that.”
The star described the dramatic ending as “a massive collaborative effort” and praised director Cary Joji Fukunaga for putting it all together.
Daniel explained: “That was the headline really: just make it better. So we all input into it in varying ways. I tend not to shut up or keep my mouth shut about things and the only reason I want to get involved is because I just want it to be the best it can be.
“And Cary was a hell of a collaborator, so that was very satisfying when we figured things out. It was really very, very satisfying.”

Chris Evans fulfilled Pixar wish with Lightyear

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Evans fulfilled a dream working with Pixar on ‘Lightyear’.
The 41-year-old actor voices Buzz Lightyear in the origin story for the iconic ‘Toy Story’ character and signed up for the movie to collaborate with the company behind animated classics such as ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘The Incredibles’.
Chris told Variety: “Well, to be honest, what interested me was working with Pixar. The premise was not inconsequential, obviously, you want to make sure that they’re going to make a good movie.
“But you trust in Pixar, my trust, they have so much goodwill. I’ve never seen Pixar miss, so I didn’t really worry too much about the story itself. I was just thrilled that Pixar was calling.”
Chris also discussed the comparisons between Buzz and his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) alter ego Captain America and also considered the parallels between Buzz and the Pixar animators behind the movie.
He said: “Sure, I mean, there are a lot of similarities between the characters. Fundamentally, they’re very different men.
“I was fascinated about how Buzz could almost be more connected to what Pixar animators deal with. It literally takes four years to make these movies, so these men and women disappear for four years and pour themselves into these projects.
“And they said, every time they make a movie, when they come out, the world has changed. And I just thought that parallel was really, really interesting, and I was happy for the Pixar animations that they somehow got to inject their experience into this movie.
Previous reports have claimed that Chris had been set to return to the MCU as Captain America for at least one more project in a “vague way” but he poured cold water on the speculation.
He said: “The vague way is from rumours online. That’s the vague way. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.”

Michael Owen introduced as ‘father of Love Island’s Gemma Owen’ during England punditry

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Owen faced jokes about his daughter’s ‘Love Island’ appearance when he appeared as a pundit for England’s match against Germany on Tuesday night (07.06.22).
The former Three Lions striker – whose 19-year-old daughter Gemma Owen is one of the Islanders on the ITV2 dating show this year – was part of the Channel 4 team covering the Nations League game at the Allianz Arena in Munich, and presenter Jules Breach couldn’t resist a quip at the ex-Liverpool star’s expense as she introduced the pundits.
She said: “Joining me hoping to see another famous win for England tonight in Munich, England and Arsenal midfield Jordan Nobbs, former England, West Ham and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole and the father of Love Island’s Gemma Owen.”
Jules then asked Michael: “A big night for the Owens last night, Michael. How are you feeling?”
He responded: “I came all the way to Germany to try and avoid all that back home, but it has been brought up straight away!
“But I am feeling alright. This is taking my mind off it so don’t bring it back up.”
Michael previously admitted it was a “father’s worst nightmare” for his daughter to appear on the show, but insisted he was being “supportive”.
He said: “I have no doubts that she will make us all proud. It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do. You’ve got to be supportive.
“It’s been different without her in the house. I’ve got other kids and my wife, and it’s been quite tough because she’s had to switch her phone off and we’ve had no contact for a couple of weeks so that’s been the hard bit.
“I’ve heard a lot about it. I think old, grumpy men like me will always have an opinion on it because I don’t watch it and you just hear the snippets, but she assures me that it’s not as bad as I think. So, we’ll give it a watch and I hope she enjoys herself.”
International dressage rider Gemma – who coupled up with this year’s first ‘Love Island’ bombshell, Italian hunk Davide Sanclimenti, in last night’s show – recently admitted her dad was “not buzzing” about her taking part in the programme.
She said: “I still wouldn’t say he was buzzing about the fact. But he’s very supportive with whatever I decide to do.
“He didn’t have a massive tantrum or anything like that. It was pretty chilled. He sort of trusts me not to do anything and not to embarrass him or anything like that. So I guess he took it quite well.”
