OHMYGOSSIP — Alesha Dixon thinks that ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ meant “so much more” to performers after lockdown.
The variety show returned to screens earlier this year after a break of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Alesha – who has judged on the show alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and David Walliams since 2012 – explained that performers were more “grateful” than ever for the chance to show off their skills and that during her time away from TV she managed to set up a skincare company.
She said: “These shows felt really special. I think ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ meant so much more for the performers after being in lockdown and not being able to be on stage. People were grateful to be getting back to that sense of freedom. Looking around at the audience, you could really see people were happy to be out and together again. While TV presenting had to take a back seat for a while, I set up my own premium natural wellness brand NobleBlu, which produces supplements for everything from better skin to immunity.”
However, The former Mis-Teeq singer, 43, – who is married to Azuka Ononye and has Azura, eight, and Anaya, two, with him – went on to explain that taking time away from the industry because of lockdown was something she really “tried to appreciate” because working in television can be so “exhausting.”
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “It’s my default to try to be as positive as possible and while there was a lot of stress, emotion, and uncertainty in the world at the time, I tried to ensure that within the four walls of my house there was joy and that my two daughters got to enjoy spending time with Mummy and Daddy. Mentally, this business is quite exhausting, so being given the opportunity to slow down was something I really tried to appreciate. In life, I’ve always tried to be grateful and change forces you to grow and try new things. I still see my personal trainer virtually – all our workouts are over Zoom or FaceTime. I couldn’t have imagined that pre-pandemic.”
‘The grand finale of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ aired at the beginning of June 2022 and saw stand-up comedian Axel Blake scoop the top prize of £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Show later this year.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’ is getting a new villain which looks like a fluffy white rabbit.
The Time Lord’s latest adversary has been revealed as a cute but deadly creature named Beep the Meep and insiders are confident that the new villain will be a hit with younger viewers.
A source told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “Younger viewers will love Beep – he appears to be meek and cute, but he’s as deadly as a Dalek or a Cyberman.”
Beep will appear alongside creatures called The Wrarths, with both previously appearing in comic strips published in Doctor Who Weekly magazine in the 1980s.
The insider added the character has been revived by show boss Russell T Davies, explaining: “He has tapped into the novels and audio adventures, adapting them for TV.
“It’s no surprise he’s looked to the comics, as Beep the Meep was one of the most popular creations.”
Former Doctor David Tennant is returning to the BBC sci-fi series for three 60th anniversary specials later this year alongside former companion Catherine Tate who played his sidekick Donna Noble.
Reports suggest other previous Doctor Whos will be back for the shows, but details have yet to be confirmed.
The Mirror reports the most likely actor to return to the cast is Matt Smith.
Meanwhile, the new regular Doctor will be played by ‘Sex Education’ star Ncuti Gatwa, who is taking over from Jodie Whittaker when ‘Doctor Who’ returns to TV later in 2023.
Speaking after the casting announcement, the actor told the BBC: “It feels really amazing. It’s a true honour. This role is an institution and it’s so iconic.
“I feel very grateful to have had the baton handed over and I’m going to try to do my best.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ star Liam Llewellyn has returned to social media to thank fans for their support following his exit from the villa.
The Welsh hunk, 22, blindsided TV viewers last week when he announced his departure from the ITV2 dating show, and admitted he had been struggling to find a connection with any of the girls as he hadn’t been ” giving 100 per cent” of himself to the experience.
He wrote on Instagram: “Yes people, it’s Liam! I’m back. I am absolutely blown away by the love and support that has been shown to me whilst I was in the villa and since I’ve been out. I appreciate you all like you wouldn’t believe #loveislandbaby.”(sic)
Liam – who was seen briefly dating Gemma Owen as well as actress Ekin-Su Culculoglu and lounge host Afia Tonkmor during his time in the Mallorca villa – was confirmed on Friday night’s (10.06.22) episode when he gathered the other contestants around the fire pit and told them he was off.
He said: “So, obviously we all came here for the same sort of reason, but I haven’t been giving 100 per cent Liam. I know what that looks like and I’m miles off that.
“Trying to find someone to leave the villa with is the goal, but when you’re not feeling that, it makes it a hard time to find that.”
Liam went on: “I’ve thought about this a lot, it’s not a spur-of-the-moment type thing. I’ve made the decision to leave the villa. It’s been a breeze, it’s been an absolute ball. You are all unreal.”
After leaving the show, he made an appearance on the spin-off series ‘Love Island: After Sun’ on Sunday night (12.06.22), telling host Laura Whitmore: “Yeh, it’s crazy, I didn’t expect the support. It’s a big eye-opener for me.”
Speaking ahead of his appearance on the show, Liam admitted he was “nervous” about being rejected in front of the nation.
He said: “Something I am most nervous about is probably the feeling of not being wanted in a recoupling or something, not being picked.
“Everyone wants to be wanted and wants to be picked. So it’s the feeling of not being picked is a nerve-wracking thought for me … That feeling of being rejected, it’s never a nice feeling.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Patsy Kensit feared she was suffering from dementia when she experienced memory loss as a symptom of the menopause.
The 54-year-old TV star entered the menopause cycle at the age of 45 after undergoing an emergency hysterectomy and woke up in hospital with severe brain fog which left her unable to recall simple conversations.
She said: “I woke up in intensive care and I didn’t know what I was doing, why I was there. I was in full-on menopause.”
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress went on to insist she has always had a good memory so she struggled to understand why she had suddenly become so forgetful.
Speaking on the ‘Postcards From Midlife’ podcast: “I have always prided myself on having a great memory because I’ve learned scripts my whole life – it’s like a muscle. I couldn’t remember a conversation, just a brain fog … I thought I had dementia. I went to see a therapist and got the HRT patch. It was not great.”
She has since been vocal about her experiences with menopause in a bid to help other women going through similar situations.
Patsy recently admitted she hopes the next generation of women will be more prepared for the menopause when it comes, saying: “My commitment is to bridge the divide between pre and postmenopausal women, who historically have felt as if we have nothing in common.
“As a younger woman, I had no idea what was coming, but now I’m proud to be sharing information to educate and inform women of all ages about how to manage this transition without fear or prejudice.”
She added: “If I have any advice, this is it: be honest about what you’re going through. Half of all humans will face the menopause, there’s nothing to be ashamed of, and the more we give one another understanding and honesty, the more we’ll all benefit.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has been banned from selling crayfish at his farm shop.
The 62-year-old TV star – who has attempted to embrace agriculture at his Diddy Squat farming estate as part of his Amazon Prime show ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ – continues to run a store selling his produce onsite but has been stopped from selling crayfish because they are classed as an “invasive species.”
He said: “The problem is the crayfish I have are American so they’re labelled an invasive species. The Government’s forced to spend millions employing a team to make and apply rules about what can and can’t be done with them.”
Jeremy insisted he wants to be able to trap the crayfish and sell them as a “glorified prawn cocktail” but claims he’s been banned from embarking on the money-making venture by bosses at the Environment Agency.
The former ‘Top Gear’ host claimed to have attended meetings with the orgnaisation to make sure he adhered to the rules about trapping the creatures but was told that they are “currently unable to process applications to trap crayfish”.
Writing in his column in The Times, he added: “The upshot is the crayfish will continue to wreak havoc. Whereas if the government employed fewer spies and fewer bureaucrats and wrote fewer rules, it’d be a little bit better. And we’d have lower taxes.”
Jeremy has been attempting to improve the facilities at his shop, which is based close to his farm in Chadlington, Chipping Norton but a recent planning application to extend the car park was turned down by West Oxfordshire District Council.
The council’s development manager, Abby Fettes, said of the plan: “By reason of its location, size and design the proposed development would not be sustainable and would not be compatible or consistent in scale with the existing farming business or its open countryside location.
“(It) would have a visually intrusive and harmful impact on the rural character, scenic beauty, and tranquillity of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Wychwood Project Area.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanne Froggatt has said that ‘Sherwood’ is unlike anything she has ever seen.
The 41-year-old actress is starring in the new BBC series that focuses on the true story of the Nottinghamshire murders of 2004 and described the crime drama as “really really special.”
She said: “It’s not your average anything. It’s really, really special. I don’t say that about everything. I mean, you do feel, obviously, a big pull to all the projects you do, but this is just such an incredible story. I haven’t read or seen anything like this before.”
The six-part series – which is penned by an acclaimed TV writer James Graham explores the story of two separate and unrelated murders which took place in the small mining village within a fortnight of each other almost two decades ago and sparked a massive manhunt at Annesley Woods, where both killers were believed to have fled.
She said: “The way James has moulded this story, and he’s created these really real, brilliantly put together characters and community amongst this real sort of political thriller, but not just a political thriller. It’s just got everything in there. It’s a really, yeah, it’s a really incredible piece of work.”
The former ‘Downton Abbey star takes on the role of Conservative councillor Sarah Vincent in the drama who is getting married to Neel Fisher – played by Bally Gill – when an ex-miner is killed following an argument about the 1984 Miner’s Strike just days before a 23-year-old newlywed was found dead at her home in the same area.
In the joint interview, Joanne’s co-star Bally, 30, explained that there is a “pressure” to do justice for the families of victims when taking on roles inspired by real life.
He told Metro.co.uk: “When people from the family were involved, who gave the blessing to James, and from him being from that area, I think you’ve always felt a certain amount of pressure anyway, to feel like you can represent these people represent them well. Whether that’s become them, sound like them… but also at the same time, we try and create something that’s, as Jo was saying, something that I don’t think is quite been done before”
‘Sherwood’ premieres on BBC One on Monday 13 June at 9pm and will continue to air on Mondays and Tuesdays over the course of three weeks, with episodes available on BBC iPlayer after broadcast.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheila Hancock still “feels the presence” of late husband John Thaw.
The 89-year-old actress was married to ‘Inspector Morse star John – who died of cancer at the age of 60 – from 1973 until his 2002 death and admitted that she now regrets not “trying to understand” his fascination with the universe.
She said: “I remember when John used to ask me to join him looking at the stars at our French home – we no D longer see them in big over-lit cities – I’m would have a quick look and say, ‘Yes, lovely, and carry on cooking supper. He would stand there for ages, and I think now that he probably knew that feeling of being part of the universe. And I didn’t understand it. How sad that I was too busy to try.”
The Olivier Award-winning actress – who has daughters Melanie, 57, and Joanna, 48, from her marriage to John – added that just before he passed, John spent a “very long time” staring at the stars, and now two decades can still “feel his presence” as she questions whether she will ever be able to “set aside” her own “rational approach” to life before her own death.
Writing in her new autobiography, ‘Old Rage’, she said: “On our last visit to our French home, when he was mortally ill, though weak he stood stock-still for over half an hour, looking at the view of the mountains, forest, and blue, blue sky.
“Then again, on the last evening, he sat outside staring at the stars for a very long time. Is it any wonder that I now, years after his death, still feel his presence, his energy? Can I ever, before my own inevitable death, set aside my sensible, rational approach to life and contemplate the inexplicable?”
However, Sheila also explained that she refuses to “dwell” on what it might have been like to share her latter years with John but joked that he would have “quite liked” the COVID-19 lockdowns.
She said: “I do not allow myself to dwell on how it would have been to share my old age with the man I loved. I disapprove of attributing possible opinions and behaviour to dead people, but I can’t help thinking John would have quite liked this situation. Driven as we both were, by the Protestant work ethic, he would have enjoyed an excuse not to do 13 hours a day on a film set. He did not have friends, apart from those he worked with, so having people around for dinner or drinks never happened anyway. He liked it that way.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Patrick Harris is appearing in Doctor Who next year.
The BBC today (13.06.22) announced the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actor is already filming scenes set to air in 2023 as part of the show’s 60th anniversary.
But show bosses are keeping his role under wraps.
Showrunner Russell T Davies, 59, said in a statement: “It’s my huge honour to open our studio doors for the mighty Neil Patrick Harris… but who, why, what is he playing? You’ll just have to wait. But I promise you, the stuff we’re shooting now is off the scale. Doctor beware!”
US actor Harris – who also famously starred in ‘Doogie Howser, M. D.’ and has girl and boy twins with his actor partner David Burtka, 47 – will join the new Doctor, Nouti Gatwa.
The 29-year-old is taking the reins from Jodie Whittaker, 39, when she leaves her role as the two-hearted Tardis time-traveller at the end of this year.
There has been speculation Davies’ statement has hinted at a villainous role for Harris, who played evil Count Olaf in ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’.
Gatwa said he was “deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared” to become the next Doctor.
Gatwa’s ‘Barbie’ co-star Simu Liu, 33, said that the actor needed to hire protection after news of his casting due to show’s avid fandom.
He added to Variety: “He had to get security in and around not only his place of residence, but the places of residence of his entire family.”
Other actors who have portrayed the shape-shifting Time Lord since the show’s return in 2005 include Christopher Eccleston, 58, David Tennant, 51,Matt Smith, 39, and Peter Capaldi, 64.
Hugh Grant, 61, earlier this year dismissed a report by the Mirror he was “in talks” to replace Whittaker, saying: “Nothing against Dr W but I’m not. No idea where the story came from.”

Castmates are set to be shocked on tomorrow’s episode (14.06.22) when six-pack sporting investment analyst Jay Younger, 28, from Edinburgh enters the show.
He will be joined by model Remi Lambert, 22, from Manchester.
The pair made a dramatic entrance into the villa in a teaser clip shown today (13.06.22.)
When asked: “Why do you think you are a catch?” Jay boasted: “I think I genuinely have what most females want.
“I’ve got a good job, I think I am a good looking lad and I have a lot of fun so I feel like I could add a lot of value to their lives if they add a lot of value to mine.”
A source told The Sun about the new addition to the ITV2 dating show: “Jay’s a very good looking guy and will get plenty of attention in the villa.
“His pals are surprised that he’s signed up as he’s quite serious and likes his privacy.
“He’s also obsessed with the gym and his diet, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can relax in the villa and spend time getting to know the girls rather than focusing on his own body.”
When Remi was asked: “Why Love Island and why now?” he referred to ‘Love Island’ couple Molly May Hague and Tommy Fury by saying: “I am single AF! When I saw Molly and Tommy and saw how strong they are together, I thought, ‘I want a love like that’.”
The pair’s arrival comes after the entry of professional rugby star Jacques O’Neill, 23 – Gemma Owen’s ex-boyfriend, who the dressage rider, 19, admitted she still fancies.

OHMYGOSSIP — Afia Tonkmor is the first contestant to be dumped from this year’s ‘Love Island’ – and said she ended up fancying Ikenna the most.
The 25-year-old bombshell entrant was ditched on tonight’s episode (13.06.22) after contestants were called to the firepit and rugby player Jacques O’Neill, 23, chose to couple with paramedic Paige Thorne, 24.
Club host Afia said after leaving about still hunting for love: “Obviously I’m going to miss everyone in the Villa but I’m going to keep trying to find love. I’m sure Mr Right is out there somewhere.”
It comes after Master’s student Liam Llewellyn, 22, decided to quit the show after repeatedly suffering rejection during his four days in the villa.
Revealing who she fancied when she first entered the Majorca villa, Afia added: “Initially I was attracted to Dami but then throughout the experience it was more Ikenna.
“I did get the vibe that things were going well for Indiyah and Ikenna quite quickly.”
Afia went on to reveal she wants either couples Luca Bish and Gemma Owen, or Amber Beckford and Dami Hope, to win.
She added when asked who she would like to see emerge as victors: “Luca and Gemma. And Amber and Dami. It’s such early days but those two felt like the most solid couples.”
She added about what she took from her time on the ITV2 dating show: “I’ve learned that I can be a bit shy and it takes me a bit of time to come out of my shell. But I maybe learned to put myself out there a bit more. I did learn a few things. “
But she insisted: “I feel like I stayed true to myself so I’d do things the same.”
Earlier in tonight’s episode, childcare specialist Amber, 24, and 26-year-old microbiologist Dami Hope had their first kiss as they enjoyed a picnic and tennis date.
Amber told the scientist: “I feel like that for the moment, I am happy to get to know you, I am not really looking at any of the other guys.”
When she asked Dami to describe his ideal woman, he replied: “If she looked like you, then I would be happy, so you’d need to have a twin in here for me to turn my head.”
Model Indiyah Polack and pharmaceutical salesman Ikenna Ekwonna, both 23, also had their first smooch as they cuddled in the garden.
Indiyah said: “Sometimes it is nice to know that you’re feeling me, that you’re interested or if it’s reciprocated.”
A preview for the next show hinted Gemma Owen, 19 – daughter of ex-footballer Michael Owen, 42 – and fishmonger Luca, 23, are going to be seen embroiled in a fight.

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore says the ‘Love Island’ villa “smells so bad”.
The 37-year-old presenter has opened up on the less glamorous aspects of life on the ITV2 dating show and admitted the Majorca home stinks of body odour the Islanders’ attempts to cover it up.
Appearing on Alan Carr’s ‘Life’s A Beach’ podcast, she said: “It smells so bad. If you think about it – that amount of people, about 40 or 50 Islanders go through it the whole summer.
“It starts off with about 10 or 12 and then more keep going in. And they’re like 18-year-olds. The carpet, the fake tan, the makeup, the BO… it stinks!
“It smells like Lynx Africa, you know when they try to cover the BO? That’s what it smells like.”
Laura admitted she avoided the villa for most of the series last year due to COVID-19 regulations, but it was “grim” when she finally had a walk round.
She added: “Last year I wasn’t allowed to go into the villa because of COVID protocol, so I always walked around the villa or around the pool.
“But as soon as they left and the final happened, my friends came to watch the show and we went in there.
“We had a proper little rummage around and it was grim!”
Afria Tonkmor, 25, became the first contestant to be dumped from this year’s show on Monday night (13.06.22). after the contestants were called to the firepit and rugby player Jacques O’Neill, 23, decided to couple up with 24-year-old paramedic Paige Thorne.
