Steven Spielberg developing new Bullitt movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg is developing a new movie based on ‘Bullitt’.
Deadline report that the legendary director is attached to helm a new original story that centres on Frank Bullitt, the character famously played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 movie.
Spielberg will produce the film with Kristie Macosko Krieger with Josh Singer set to pen the script.
Insiders are adamant that this is not a remake of the original flick but a new idea that focuses on the character.
In the original movie, Frank Bullitt is a no-nonsense San Francisco police officer hunting for a mob kingpin that killed his witness. The project is considered to be one of McQueen’s most famous roles and delivers one of the most famous car chases in cinematic history.
Steve’s son Chad and his granddaughter Molly McQueen are to executive produce the new movie.
Spielberg is currently completing post-production work on ‘The Fabelmans’, which is set to be released in November.
Plot details remain under wraps but the movie is described as a semi-autobiographical project which draws from Spielberg’s time growing up in Arizona.
The deeply personal nature of the project means that Spielberg has co-written the script with his frequent collaborator Tony Kushner. It marks the director’s first screenplay credit since the 2001 movie ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’.
Spielberg has often discussed how his upbringing in Arizona served as inspiration for many of his films – from stories to characters. The project will mark the first time that viewers will be given an opportunity to gain perspective on the filmmaker behind blockbusters such as ‘E.T the Extra-Terrestrial’ and the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise.

Anna Camp to lead cast of From Black

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Camp is to lead the cast of the supernatural horror film ‘From Black’.
The 39-year-old actress – whose previous credits included the ‘Pitch Perfect’ film series and the TV vampire drama ‘True Blood’ – is starring in the movie that will begin production this week in Mississippi.
In the movie, a young mother crushed by guilt and shame after the disappearance of her young son five years previously, is offered a strange opportunity to learn the truth and set things right.

Anna portrayed Aubrey Posen in the ‘Pitch Perfect’ movies and previously confirmed that she would jump at the chance to star in a fourth film.
She said: “I’m down.
“I love those girls and I love playing my character, so if they needed me I would be there, for sure.”
Her co-star Rebel Wilson has also said that ‘Pitch Perfect’ could return as the cast “always wanna work together”.
She said: “I mean, I can’t say anything officially.
“We just love each other, all us girls.
“Definitely I’ll be filming another musical film in the next 12 months, I can say that. You’ll see me singing a bit more.
“But yeah, us ‘Pitch Perfect’ girls, we love each other and we always wanna work together.”

Only Fools and Horses star Sue Holderness feels a total ‘plonker’ after Uber mix-up

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Only Fools and Horses’ actress Sue Holderness feels a complete “plonker” after thinking UBER in Spain had charged her credit card €5,999.
The 72-year-old actress – who played Boycie’s wife Marlene Boyce in the beloved sitcom opposite Sir David Jason as Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst as his younger brother Rodney Trotter – was left shocked after checking her account and seeing ‘thousands’ being debited from her MasterCard.
But after contacting UBER to complain, Marlene was left feeling like a 42-carat plonker when a representative for the taxi company told her the fee was actually the equivalent of £6.
She posted on Twitter: “#UBER. I have just received an email from UBER in Spain telling me that €5,999 has been taken out of my account (using my Mastercard details). I’ve stopped that card (nightmare!) and have no help from Uber in getting this money back.
“Confession. I’m a prat. Spanish Uber are taking CLP 5,990 out of my account not €5,990! That seems to be less than £6. I’m mean they shouldn’t have taken anything but that’s rather less alarming than €5,990. So sorry-very grateful for all your help.
“I think ‘plonker’ describes me perfectly … Mind you I still don’t know why SPANISH UBER are taking ANY money from my account!”
Sue will forever be associated with her alter ego Marlene and her on-screen husband Boycie, played by John Challis.
Sadly, John passed away in September 2021 at the age of 79 from cancer, and Sue recently admitted that she is still struggling to accept that he is gone.
She said: “Double acts you often hear hate each other, John and I became very good friends from the very beginning.
“His wife and my husband, the four of us would go on holiday together, we saw each other regularly. I still speak to Carol every day.
“It’s very difficult for me to say that I have really gone through the grieving process because I haven’t, I still don’t believe he is gone.
“He feels very much that he is still with us and of course he will be with us, he will be in our lives forever because of the wonderful Boycie that he created.”

Strictly star AJ Odudu to host four new TV shows

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Odudu is to present four new TV shows following her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 34-year-old presenter was one of the most popular contestants on last year’s ‘Strictly’ and she got to the final of the BBC ballroom competition with her professional partner Kai Widdrington but she had to pull out the day before due to an injury to her right ankle.
Her popularity on the show has led to her landing a host of top jobs.
AJ, who is already presenting Channel 4 reality series ‘The Bridge’, will also be fronting ‘The Big Blow Out’ on E4 and Channel 4’s ‘Married At First Sight’, with both set to air later this year. She will also be appearing in BBC’s ‘Picture Slam’ which is currently in production.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “She was always going to go on to bigger things after her profile soared on ‘Strictly’, but nobody would have expected her to get so much work so quickly.
“It seems there was something of a scramble to sign AJ up for shows after she became a viewer favourite on the last series of ‘Strictly’.
“As is often the case with the show, it isn’t always the person who takes home the glitterball trophy who gets the most job offers afterwards.”
AJ has also appeared on shows such as ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’, ‘Cooking With The Stars’ and ‘The Chase’.

Nancy Dell’Olio to star in Celebrity MasterChef?

OHMYGOSSIP — Nancy Dell’Olio has signed up for ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant – and ex-girlfriend of former England football manager Sven Goran-Eriksson – is said to have joined the line-up for the star-studded BBC cooking competition, according to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column.
That is despite the 60-year-old lawyer once admitting she “doesn’t enjoy cooking much”.
She previously said: “I’m not a great cook. I don’t enjoy cooking too much.
“Every time I go on a date men assume I can cook, being Italian. I love food, but it doesn’t mean I enjoy cooking.”
Nancy has also previously claimed that culinary pursuits are “a very good way to entertain” a potential lover, but insisted people can’t rely on it totally.
She said: “Food is a very good way to entertain a man but you cannot use only this.”
Other rumoured contestants who look set to cook for hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace include Chuckle Brother Paul Chuckle, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro Katya Jones, TV presenter Lisa Snowdon, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ contestant Kitty Scott-Claus, McFly’s Danny Jones, former ‘Coronation Street’ star Ryan Thomas, and ex-footballer Jimmy Bullard.
A ‘MasterChef’ spokeswoman told the publication: “We do not comment on speculation over the ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ line-up.”
Last year, Nancy she made a dig at the wives and girlfriends of the England team at the 2006 World Cup for “distracting the players”.
She said: “The press were not talking about the wives and girlfriends of any other of the teams. I suggested they have to be more careful but they just did whatever they wanted.
“I tried to warn some of them about their behaviour because they were distracting the players. The wives and girlfriends at Baden-Baden went too far and I think the federation changed some rules so it wouldn’t happen again.”

Daisy May Cooper bought ghost detection kit after cleaner claimed house was haunted

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy May Cooper bought a ghostbusters kit after her cleaner claimed her house was haunted.
The ‘This Country’ star was told she had a head “highwayman” taking up residency in her house, so she went out to purchase a “spirit-detection” kit alongside an electromagnetic field detector.
Daisy, 35, revealed how her cleaner Debs sent her a text that claimed there was a “spirit” floating around in her bedroom.
According to her maid, Daisy lived on haunted grounds, as apparently there is a hangman’s tree in the area where hundreds of people have died, explaining why lots of spirits remain in the area.
Daisy, 35, said: “She says she’s a medium and gets possessed all the time. When she’s reaching for the Mr Muscle, she says things like: ‘Daisy, I don’t mean to alarm you, but there’s a highwayman next to your door, he’s right behind you. He’s in my peripheral, and he’s doffing his cap to you.”
Following the advice, the comedian bought motion and heat sensors to try to find some hard evidence.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, Daisy wrote in her book ‘Don’t Laugh, It’ll Only Encourage Her’: “I have bought a s*** load of paraphernalia just in case – movement sensor, heat sensor, voice recorder, electromagnetic field detector.
“I definitely get this from my mum. I don’t know if it’s a curse or a blessing.”
Daisy is to star in a new six-part comedy thriller for the BBC, titled ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’, which she has penned with Grantchester’s Seline Hizli.
She will also be appearing in BBC comedy ‘The Witchfinder’ alongside Tim Key.

Ruth Langsford’s 2021 earnings revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruth Langsford took home more than £2 million in 2021, according to financial records.
The ‘Loose Women’ anchor earnt £2,092,863 in 2021, according to tax records for her personal limited company Hey Ho Ltd, despite the 62-year-old star and her husband Eamonn Holmes, also 62, being replaced as the Friday presenters on ‘This Morning’, with Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond stepping into the couple’s shoes.
Ruth and Eamonn also used to co-host the show during school holidays in place of main presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Ruth has had the last laugh here. She’s proven the talk wrong that she and Eamonn were pale and stale. Her pay from ITV might not be as high as Holly and Phil’s but her earning power outside of the show is vast.
“She has her gig on shopping channel QVC which is huge, plus her work on ‘Loose Women’.”
Ruth is also said to be in demand for commercial work.
The source added: “Now she is free to make even more shows for other channels. Plus she is always asked to sign up for commercial work and has appeared in adverts for everything from blood circulation boosters to bingo games.”
Ruth – who has competed on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – was supportive of her husband Eamonn, the father of their son Jack, 19, recently relocating to the GB News, saying that he “can turn his hand to anything”.
On his ‘This Morning’ departure, Eamonn recently labelled ITV as “sly”.
Last weekend, he said: “They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.”

Kate Garraway recalls co-host Ben Shephard’s ‘concern for her sanity’ over husband’s Mexico trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway says her good friend Ben Shephard was “concerned about [her] sanity” when she revealed plans to fly her husband Derek Draper to Mexico for a long COVID clinical trial.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter admitted it sounds “bonkers” because Derek – who still requires 24/7 care at home after his body was ravaged by coronavirus in 2020 – “flags” after 20 minutes in a wheelchair, and her co-host was worried about her.
She said: “That came at a really low point when I thought, ‘Oh god, this is not sustainable’. The system … I mean, I don’t believe that we can have 24-hour care forever, you know.
“There’s a point where money runs out and I was thinking, ‘This isn’t sustainable, there isn’t the structure there to help long-term, what are we actually going to do?’
“I can’t give up, I can’t give up on him, and I’ve been doing a lot of research on the following documentary of wonderful people who’ve contacted me and this particular doctor had dealt with people not as severe as Derek, but in the area. [He] offered us the chance to be a kind of test case.
“But [Derek] can sustain sitting in a wheelchair for maybe 20 minutes before he flags, so the thought of going 5,000 miles seemed properly bonkers. I think Ben Shephard was a little bit concerned about my sanity.”
However, Kate believes the trip has given Derek – who is due to return to Mexico next month – some “possibility of hope”.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she added: “But he [Ben] then got it. We sort of worked hard and funnily enough, I sort of thought that at the end of the journey, if nothing else comes from this, the fact that he’s [Derek’s] done this, I can already see has said something to himself about the possibility of hope.”
Kate spoke about Derek’s trip to Mexico this week on ITV documentary ‘Caring For Derek’, a follow-up to the couple’s National Television Award-winning film ‘Finding Derek’.

Johannes Radebe wants to be Strictly Come Dancing’s ‘next Anton Du Beke’

OHMYGOSSIP — Johannes Radebe wants to be Strictly Come Dancing’s “next Anton Du Beke”.
The pro dancer – who made history on the BBC show as half of the first-ever all-male pairing alongside ‘The Great British Bake Off’ winner John Whaite last year – wants to become part of the furniture on the programme, just like 55-year-old dancer-turned-judge Anton, who has appeared in every season of the show.
The 34-year-old dancer told the Metro newspaper he is “planning on being the next Anton”, adding that he will be on the show “for as long as they will have me”.
Being on ‘Strictly’ was Johannes’ dream for a while as during his first gig – dancing on cruises – he dreamt about how “wonderful” it would be to star on the show.
He said: “I watched ‘Strictly’ from a distance, and looking at the prospects of all these incredible professional dancers that were on the show.
“I just kept thinking, ‘Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be that well-known and be able to to put on a show in a theatre where people would come and watch?’ ”
Dancing became something he wanted to do when he was a seven-year-old boy.
Johannes said: “I saw a couple demonstrate the waltz in [full] beautiful attire.
“But I think it’s when I saw this sequined jacket on the man, I just thought, ‘I want to wear those sparkles and I’ll do whatever it takes.’ ”
Johannes believes dance brought him “a lot of comfort and peace” after being a victim of homophobic bullying in his native South Africa.
He said: “I say that because you can imagine [what it’s like] growing up in a township as a gay boy. So dance felt like my refuge. That’s where I went to go and hide and that’s where I thrived.”

Brendan O’Carroll: A comedian’s job is to offend

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan O’Carroll thinks it’s a comedian’s “job” to “offend”.
The ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys creator believes people should switch off TV programmes or leave the cinema if they get upset by things comedians have said.
The 66-year-old star told the Daily Star newspaper: “It’s easy to understand that some people do get offended by things.
“But that is why there is a remote control for the TV and that is why the cinema door swings both ways. Personally, I feel if you are not offending somebody we are not doing our job.”
Tyler Perry – who has collaborated with Brendan on the Netflix special ‘A Madea Homecoming’ – wanted the meeting of their two characters, Agnes Brown and Madea, to make jokes at their differences.
Tyler said: “I wanted to make something that will make us laugh but also address serious subjects.”
Comedian Brendan has joked he feels “left out” about not getting “cancelled” yet.
He said: “I must admit I almost want to get cancelled because with all these other things going, I feel a bit left out.
“But if the BBC write their policy on what goes on TV based on what’s said on social media then the BBC have lost a sense of their own being.
“It’s the audience that makes the call – and the best device for cancelling something is the remote control.”
On Monday (21.02.22), Brendan came under fire on social media for comments made while the pair appeared on BBC One’s ‘The One Show’.
After being asked if the ‘Don’t Look Up’ star might feature on his sitcom, Brendan joked: “So far we haven’t had anyone of his colour in there so I don’t know if we could have him in.
“But you know what, I’d love that, but I think more importantly I’d love to do another movie with him.”
The 52-year-old comic laughed and responded: “Nobody my colour,” as Brendan pointed to his face.
Tyler added: “Time to change the world. Diversity rules, here we go.”

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Denise has made sure she’s keeping busy since the split and is totally focused on the future.
“It’s been a tough few weeks but this role is just what she needs. Denise loves dressing up and being provocative, so in many ways it is the perfect role for her.”
Filming for ‘Sumotherhood’ is already underway in East London and is expected to wrap up by end of March.
The plot for the British action comedy is being kept under wraps, but it is also expected to feature Jennifer Saunders, ‘Shaun of the Dead’ star Peter Serafinowicz and Penny Dreadful’s Danny Sapani.

Zoe Kravitz thrilled to work with Robert Pattinson on The Batman

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz was delighted to work with Robert Pattinson on ‘The Batman’.
The 33-year-old star plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the new superhero movie and gushed about collaborating with Robert – who plays the titular role in the flick.
Speaking at the UK Premiere of ‘The Batman’ in London on Wednesday (23.02.22), Zoe said: “He’s such a kind person and such an amazing actor. I think he makes such brave and bold choices.
“He’s also just a fun human being and it’s hard to find that combination of somebody who is so light and funny and also so good at what they do.”
Zoe admits that she has been impressed by Matt’s work on the movie and she feels that the director has fulfilled his vision for the legendary superhero.
She said: “I’m always going to be hard on myself but in terms of watching the film, Matt really accomplished exactly what he set out to do and that’s very rare to see. I’m really impressed by Matt’s work.”
The ‘Big Little Lies’ star did confess that she was disappointed not to get the chance to ride in the Batmobile.
Zoe explained: “I had no scenes in the Batmobile, so hopefully next time.”
Despite this, the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ star admits that it was surreal to be working on a Batman movie.
Zoe said: “Every time I saw Rob and anything with the word ‘Gotham’ on anything, you’ve got to pinch yourself. It’s a dream come true.”
The actress felt that taking on the role of Catwoman was appropriate as she has always “identified” with felines in real life.
She said: “I’ve always identified with cats. I am a dog person because they’re easier to deal with but I am a cat myself in terms of my personality.”

Robert Pattinson ‘terrified’ to see reaction to The Batman

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Pattinson is “terrified” about how audiences will react to ‘The Batman’.
The 35-year-old actor makes his debut as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ movie and explained that the reality of playing the legendary superhero has dawned on him ahead of the film’s release.
Speaking at the UK Premiere of ‘The Batman’ in London on Wednesday (23.02.22), Robert said: “It’s just starting to feel a little bit real. I’m terrified. This is the first time we’ve got a non friends and family audience seeing it. ”
Pattinson joked that he would spend hours trawling through social media to see what fans think about the blockbuster.
He explained: “I’m going to be spending a long night on Twitter. A long, terrifying night.”
The ‘Twilight’ star confessed that he is glad to have taken on the iconic role as a more experienced actor as he doesn’t think he could have coped with the pressure when he was younger.
Asked if Batman is the biggest role of his life, Robert said: “Yeah. I’m glad that I’m older as when I was younger I don’t think I would be able to handle the pressure of it but now it has just been fun and a really incredible ride.”
Robert also discussed the process of wearing Batman’s iconic costume and explained how felt “tougher” as soon as he tried it on for the first time.
He explained: “You first put it on and it’s so well-designed. I tried the suit on piece-by-piece over about a month and when the final thing was there you just immediately want to start punching the mirror.
“You feel 100 times tougher.”

Death in Paradise to return for Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Death in Paradise’ will return for a new Christmas special this year.
The BBC have confirmed the show will be back for its second ever festive special, after the first – which aired last year – attracted an audience of more than 8.8 million.
Executive Producer Tim Key said: “We were overwhelmed with the fantastic response to our first Christmas special and delighted that we’ve been asked to take the viewers back to Saint Marie this Christmas.
“We can promise something very different this year, but still with all the ‘Death in Paradise’ fun, sparkle and intrigue that the viewers will expect.”
The feature-length special will go into production in spring this year with returning cast members Ralf Little – who plays DI Neville Parker in the drama series – Don Warrington, Elizabeth Bourgine, Tahj Miles, Shantol Jackson and Ginny Holder.
The show is filmed on the French Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe, and Ralf recently raised more than £25,000 to help stray dogs in the area to give back to the animal rescue charity SXM Paws.
It came after the death of his own pooch, Suzy, who he adopted along with another stray called Dora while filming the programme.
In an update on the fundraising page, the 42-year-old actor said: “Since joining the series in 2019, I’ve spent enough time in the Caribbean for it to feel like a second home.
“However, as animal lovers, it has been hard for us to turn a blind eye to the countless stray dogs on the islands’ streets.
“Of course, as we were about to take Dora and Suzy back to the US with us, we found out that there were hoops to jump through.
“With no clear guidelines available, it was through connecting with SXM Paws, an animal rescue group in St Maarten, that we ultimately were able to figure how to bring Dora and then Suzy home.
“Not only did the members of SXM Paws explain the steps we needed to take, but they actually executed many of the steps alongside us, readily helping with everything from driving Dora to her flight to the US and advising on how to get Suzy on a plane.
“When our little Suzy tragically passed away this year, we wanted to give back to this organisation.”
£25,734 has now been raised on the page at the time of writing.

Neve Campbell ‘approached’ for Scream 6

OHMYGOSSIP — Neve Campbell has been “approached” for ‘Scream 6’.
The 48-year-old actress reprised her role as Sidney Prescott in the fifth film in the blockbuster slasher franchise, reuniting with Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dewey Riley).
And Neve has revealed a draft of the script for another instalment is “coming soon”.
Speaking at the Mad Monster Party horror convention in California, Neve said: “They have approached me.
“There’s no script yet. There is a draft coming in soon is what I was told.
“Actually, I was supposed to call a producer yesterday, because he wanted to talk to me about what’s going on.”
However, the ‘Wild Things’ actress insisted she will need to see the story before she decides whether to return.
She added: “You know, we’ll see. I’ll read the script and see how I feel.”
The original 1996 ‘Scream’ film was a huge success – bringing in over $173 million at the worldwide box office.
Neve recently admitted she knew the franchise was in good hands with ‘Ready Or Not’ filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
She explained: “So I had been genuinely worried about making one without him because you have all those questions in your mind, like, ‘Can anybody else accomplish what he accomplished and make a film that’s at the level he was capable of?’
“I got a letter from Matt and Tyler, the new directors. They had expressed the fact that they had become directors because of Wes Craven, and that they made their really fantastic movie ‘Ready Or Not’ because of the ‘Scream’ films.
“I had seen that film before I knew they were involved in this and I thought it was a great movie. So, when I realised it was them I went, ‘Oh, I think they could do this!'”

Mark Wahlberg tried to pitch sequel to The Departed but it ‘didn’t go well’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg once tried to pitch a sequel to ‘The Departed’.
The 50-year-old actor was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing a police officer in the 2006 crime thriller movie, and he attempted to get a second film made, but it “didn’t go very well”.
He said: “I went into a meeting with [screenwriter] Bill Monahan at Warner Bros. to pitch the sequel to ‘The Departed’.
“And let’s just say the pitch didn’t go very well. He really didn’t have anything fleshed out, but he’s the kind of guy you just trust to go and write something. And so when we were working on the script for ‘Cocaine Cowboys’ and ‘American Desperado’ [I] said, ‘Bill, just go write. They like to have things well thought out and planned.’ It’d be a pretty good one.”
While the film is yet to be made, Wahlberg admitted Monahan was keen to bring in the likes of Robert De Niro and Brad Pitt if it ever got off the ground.
Speaking on KFC Radio, he said: “That’s what he was talking about, like De Niro and Brad Pitt.”
Wahlberg previously admitted he had to be convinced to star in ‘The Departed’ by director Martin Scorsese, because he wasn’t initially interested in the project.
Speaking in 2018, he said: “‘The Departed’ was interesting because I wasn’t committed to making the movie and my agent told Marty that I was.
“Marty called me up and he was so excited about making this movie together.”
However, Wahlberg wasn’t keen on the idea of playing a supporting role to the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, and so he decided to reject the opportunity at first.
He said: “I said, ‘I’m not doing the movie.’ I wanted a different part, and I wanted some other different things. We had talked about doing it for a long time, but things happened and the studio pushed back on different things. I [told Marty] I didn’t want to do it.
“They sent me on a plane over the weekend to Marty’s office.
“I read the script again, and I was pretty angry and I said again I wasn’t going to do it. Marty told me, ‘Look at this part, look at what you get to do with all these people.’ He knows I’m from that [Boston] world and I talked to him about improvising and doing my own thing and he said, ‘Dude, you’re free to do what you want to do.'”
