OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Merchant has warned that a third series of ‘The Outlaws’ won’t happen unless bosses pay up.
The crime thriller comedy TV series about a group of seven misfits doing community service in Bristol is set to launch its second series on BBC One in June but co-creator Stephen has warned that further episodes are unlikely unless the right funding is secured.
He told National Public Radio: “It’s all dependent on people higher up with money deciding if we can do it.
“There definitely feels like there’s more mileage in the characters, which is exciting. Getting the cast together again is going to be pricey!”
However, the former ‘Office’ star reassured fans that the new series of ‘The Outlaws’ – in which he stars as an unsuccessful lawyer alongside Christopher Walken – will be “a lot of fun” as he has been “turning up the heat” throughout the writing process.
He added: “Someone had told me early on in my writing career that with a comedy or with a drama, you take your characters and you chase them up a tree and then you throw rocks at them. And so series one was chasing them up the tree, series two is really throwing the rocks at them. Turning up the heat under them and it’s been very enjoyable because you’ve established a world, you can have a lot of fun with the characters and see the consequences of their actions and I’m very pleased with it.
Stephen previously revealed the stressful struggles of filming during lockdown and being left with PTSD after fearing Christopher would contract COVID.
He said: “It turns out shooting under a pandemic is a f****** nightmare and I’d suggest no one does it. Every day you’re on a knife edge hoping [Christopher] doesn’t get COVID. If anyone even looks like they’re going to sneeze near him you try and jump in front of him like you’re taking a bullet for the president. There’s a slight feeling of PTSD having been through it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alice Levine ‘”dreads” going on TV panel shows.
The 35-year-old presenter made an appearance on challenge show ‘Taskmaster’ and while she loved the experience, she noted that when she took part on satirical panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, she found herself “frozen” and unable to speak.
She said: ” I haven’t met a single person who didn’t love being on ‘Taskmaster’. It’s the show everybody has the best time doing and nobody wants to leave, and that’s because of Alex Horne. It’s a really good template for how shows could and should be. Panel shows generally give me the worst dread. They’re just so scary. Years ago, I did ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’ and I didn’t say anything for probably 45 minutes, I was completely frozen. You’re surrounded by people who have spent their working life honing pithy, concise jokes.”
The former ‘QI’ panellist – who held her own self-titled radio show on BBC Radio 1 and has enjoyed huge success as one of the three co-creators of podcast ‘My Dad Wrote a Porno’ – also explained that she has had a “patchwork” career so far and noted that it was “really hard” to leave her radio show behind.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “I’ve got quite a patchwork of a career. Getting to go to Japan to talk to people who are dating in a different way – I met somebody who had married a hologram. I remember being in that guy’s apartment in Tokyo thinking, ‘this is a strange job’. Standing on stage with my two friends from university at the Sydney Opera House or Royal Albert Hall and, soon, Radio City Music Hall – from a joke we had at the pub. And sobbing on Radio 1 as I did my final show. It was really hard, because I loved that job and loads of my closest friends work there. But I’d been there a long time so it felt like the right time.
“I think somehow I managed to strike a balance of having great memories of it and it being a big, formative chunk of my life. I didn’t expect to be there as long as I was and we did some great stuff.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses are to sell a range of booze and snacks.
The ITV2 dating show – which was won by Millie Court and Liam Reardon back in 2021 and is due to return to screens in just two weeks’ time – have had the paperwork to bring out a range of food and drinks , including alcoholic, nuts, crisps, chocolate and buns approved, along with legal protection from the UK’s Intellectual Property Office for their line of ready meals, sauces, dressings and desserts and dips.
According to the trademark – which has decade of protection -, it will cover: “Non-alcoholic beverages; beers; ale; lager; stout; porter; shandy; mineral and aerated waters and other non-alcoholic drinks; fruit drinks and fruit juices; cordials; mixtures containing any of the aforesaid goods; syrups and other preparations for making the aforesaid.”
It gives the show – which has launched the high-profile careers of Molly-Mae Hague, Amber Davies, Kem Cetinay and many others – the rights to exclusively use the ‘Love Island’ brand without others being able to profit from it.
With just over two weeks to go until the launch of the new series, pictures have been circulating of a brand new villa in Mallorca – which is still being done-up and was selected because of the “secrecy” it gave during filming – which boasts six bedrooms, a fire pit, and a 20 metre swimming pool complete with decking.
Kevin Lygo, the managing director of the channel’s media and entertainment said: “We didn’t own [the last property].
“We rented it and we are choosing a new house for this summer so that is all secrecy.”
‘Love Island’ will return to ITV2 on Monday June 6th at 9pm.

OHMYGOSSIP — Honey G is “very proud” of herself after completing her third triathlon.
The 41-year-old rapper – whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford – shot to fame as the novelty act on the 2016 series of ‘The X Factor’ and took to Instagram to share that she had discovered her “passion” for swimming, cycling, and running by chance.
Alongside an image showing off her transformation, she wrote: “I’m very proud of myself having now completed my 3rd Triathlon. I never knew I would become this passionate about a type of sport and I have truly fallen into triathlon by chance.”
The star – who earlier this year appeared on ‘Celebrity Coach Trip’ after initially taking up work as an estate agent – has reportedly lost two stone and dropped six dress sizes since coming in fifth place on the TV talent show, finishing off her transformation post by thanking event organisers for boosting her confidence

OHMYGOSSIP — Ainsley Harriott has been hailed a hero after he saved his sister Jacqueline from drowning when she fell into a pond at the Chelsea Flower Show in London on Monday (23.05.22).
The TV chef saw his 65-year-old sibling tumble into the water feature during the first day of the annual event and he rushed to help pull her from the artfully-decorated pond.
A source told The Sun: “The garden was packed with lots of people and I think the woman must have fallen into the pond or tripped over and ended up in the water.
“I think she nearly drowned. She was pulled out by Ainsley Harriott and some other celebrities before they laid her down on the floor. She was coughing up lots of water.”
Fellow TV star Nick Knowles was also present at the time of the accident and was seen standing nearby as Ainsley tended to Jacqueline while she was lying on the floor.
The report states she was treated by paramedics at the scene and the former ‘Ready Steady Cook’ presenter has since posted a message online thanking everyone at the flower show for helping.
He revealed Jacqueline is doing well, tweeting: “Just a big thank you to everyone who helped my sister when she had a fall at the Chelsea Flower Show this morning. She’s doing fine and all is well.”
Ainsley previously opened up about his relationship with Jacqueline in an interview with the Guardian, revealing she still tries to take control of his cooking even after he shot to fame as a chef.
He said: “I made something quite Caribbean-y on stage at the Commonwealth Institute many years ago, and my mother was in the audience and called out: ‘Don’t forget to turn down the heat, Ainsley!’
“Then my sister shouted: ‘And don’t forget to do the onions.’ My sister, when she comes over, will say: ‘I saw your programme the other day and you did OK.’ But that’s it for the praise. I take it on the chin. She’ll stir things I’m cooking at home and take control.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Coronation Street’ star Catherine Tyldesley named her baby daughter Iris Ella after a character she once played on TV.
The 38-year-old actress welcomed her second child with husband Tom Pitfield on April 19 and she has now revealed her name was inspired by the role of Iris Moss she played in 2007 BBC drama ‘Lilies’ and that of Tom’s late grandmother.
Catherine told Hello! magazine: “I’ve had the name Iris for years. A while back, I played a character called Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies and I have loved it ever since then … It’s kind of followed me around too. When we went for the 12-week scan, the doctor said: ‘Your baby has got really long legs,’ and it reminded me of one of my lines, which was ‘My mother called me Iris because I had long legs like the flower.’ I turned to Tom and said: ‘This is Iris’.”
The middle named Ella was chosen in honour of Tom’s late gran, with Catherine adding: “Iris Ella, it really works … “
The couple are also parents to a son named Alfie, seven, and Catherine revealed little Iris was born two weeks late – just like her big brother.
She added: “It was the same with Alfie, who was 15 days overdue. I had kind of hoped, as a second baby, that she might come quicker, but I had to be induced.”
The actress added the birth was “beautiful” and the couple feel a lot more relaxed raising their second child.
Catherine explained: “I feel like we are so much more chilled with Iris than we were with Alfie. With our first baby, we didn’t have a Scooby-Doo what we were doing and I think I tried to cope on my own. If you talk to other mums, it can really help.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue has revealed her return to ‘Neighbours’ was “lovely and emotional” as all her Ramsay Street memories “came flooding back”.
The actress-turned-pop star played Charlene Mitchell in the Australian soap from 1986 until 1988 and recently returned to the set for the first time in 34 years to film the show’s last ever episode.
Kylie has now opened up about her big comeback, admitting it felt wonderful to reunite with her former castmates, telling Today Extra: “It was lovely and emotional.”
When asked what she was thinking when she stepped foot back on Ramsay Street, Kylie replied: “Firstly, where’s all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same.
“Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold – it all just came flooding back … There was a lot of talking about memories and going back in time.”
Kylie was joined for the reunion by Jason Donovan, who played Charlene’s love interest Scott Robinson.
The pair left the soap after Charlene and Scott got married and moved to Brisbane.
Neighbours’ executive producer Jason Herbison recently admitted he was thrilled Kylie and Jason were able to return to say goodbye to the much-loved TV show.
He said: “Both Kylie and Jason needed very little persuading at all. They both appreciate the show and the special role that it has played in their careers.
“It’s a lovely show of respect to Neighbours, and I was thrilled when they said yes. It didn’t feel right to end the show without them.”
Other stars returning for the final episode include Ian Smith, 83, who played beloved character Harold Bishop and he admitted he was thrilled to return to the soap.
Ian said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be back. I’m the biggest sook under the sun. I’m going to be shocking on the last night that ‘Neighbours’ airs. It really will be an end of an era and I am so proud to have been a part of it.”
Joining Kylie and Jason in representing the 1980s are Mark Little, Paul Keane, and Peter O’Brien, who played Joe Mangle, Des Clarke and Shane Ramsay, while Daniel MacPherson will be back as hunk Joel Samuels to represent the 1990s era alongside Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson), Benjamin McNair (Mal Kennedy), and Leslie Baker (Angie Rebecchi).
Daniel said: “Joining ‘Neighbours’ at age 17, little did I know, was going to kick start a career that continues to be the adventure of a lifetime. To go back and play Joel one more time, was a small way to show my enormous gratitude to cast, crew and fans of the show.”
Other returnees include Olympia Valance as Paige Smith, James Mason as Chris Pappas, Jodi Gordon as Elly Conway, Zoe Cramond as Amy Williams, Kate Kendall as Lauren Turner, Ben Hall as Ned Willis, and Olivia Junkeer as Yashvi Rebecchi. The soap’s Executive Producer, Jason Herbison, said: “Whether the eighties, nineties, noughties or teens is your favourite decade, we will be delivering something for everyone as ‘Neighbours’ draws to a close. Alongside the current cast we will be celebrating the most memorable characters from across many eras, with a few surprises up our sleeve.” The final episode will air on 1 August.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Endeavour’ is set to end in 2023.
The Inspector Morse prequel show is poised to end next year, after producers Mammoth Screen, screenwriter Russell Lewis, and actors Shaun Evans and Roger Allam all reached a “mutual agreement” to conclude the ITV drama after nine series.
Executive producer Damien Timmer said: “‘Endeavour’ has been a real labour of love for all of us, and we salute Russell Lewis for his extraordinary achievement in chronicling Endeavour Morse’s coming of age across 72 hours of TV.
“Russell always knew where he wanted the series to end, and that Remorseful Day is nearly upon us! We’d like to thank Shaun and Roger and all the other members of the ‘Endeavour’ family on and off screen, and to the show’s fans both in the UK and abroad.”
The final series will feature plenty of “surprises”, according to the executive producer.
Damien added: “Russell has many surprises up his sleeve for the final three films, with the return of some familiar faces and new challenges for ‘Endeavour’ and Thursday to face before the final goodbye!”
ITV also confirmed that it “respectfully accepts this creative decision”.
The broadcaster explained in a statement: “[ITV] would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone associated with ‘Endeavour’ who have made the drama such a well-loved part of the UK’s drama landscape.
“ITV would particularly like to thank Damien Timmer, Russell Lewis, Shaun Evans and Roger Allam who have created television history following in the footsteps of Morse’s acclaimed creator, the late, great, Colin Dexter and the much missed John Thaw.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Iain Stirling says this year’s series will be the “sexiest” yet.
The 34-year-old comedian – who narrates the ITV2 dating show – has told how the new Majorcan villa has “more workout space” so he’s expecting the singletons to be getting hot and sweaty in front of one another even more than usual when the programme returns.
Iain – who has 13-month daughter Stevie with Laura Whitmore, who hosts the show – said: “I know it’s got a fire pit because I talked about that in the trailer and I imagine if there’s more working out space it’ll be the sexiest series we’ve ever had.”
But Iain is yet to set eyes on the villa himself.
He said: “I’ve not seen the villa. I like to wait and see it on the first day and meet the Islanders for the first time, so I’m like a viewer seeing it for the first time, too.
“That’s my vibe … or maybe it’s just me being a little bit lazy.”
Iain also admitted he is “really proud” of the show and didn’t expect it to be such a hit.
He added to OK! magazine: “None of us expected it to become so big, so the fact we had so much fun making it and then all of a sudden it is everywhere, makes me really proud.”
Laura recently told how it was “hard” going back to work on ‘Love Island’ last summer while suffering from mastitis, an inflammation of breast tissue, which is most common in breastfeeding women.
The 37-year-old TV presenter said: “I remember getting mastitis. We were doing the first show of the coupling up. I had mastitis, so I had a fever.
“I had great big hard boobs, one bigger than the other. In one way though, it kind of took away the pressure, there was other things I was worrying about rather than the telly side. But yeah, it was hard. It was work and it was full on because you’re balancing everything.
“I’m so thankful for my mother for being there every step of the way so I could breastfeed full time, but also do the show.
“It was hard because I didn’t want any part of my life to, to miss out or not get the full time and effort from me.
“So it’s not that you can do it all, but I needed to work to provide for my family but also to have a bit of me as well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The contenders for this year’s National Television Awards have been unveiled, and a brand-new Expert category has been launched.
TV’s go-to-specialists, including the likes of Sir David Attenborough, Steven Bartlett, Dame Prue Leith, Kaleb Cooper, Jay Blades, Rudy Reyes, and Wim Hof, are celebrated in the new category, which will honour personalities who offer knowledge and inspiration in their chosen fields.
This year’s NTAs will take place on September 15th at London’s OVO Arena Wembley, hosted by ‘The Masked Singer’ presenter Joel Dommett.
There are more streamers than ever before in this year’s NTAs longlist, including the likes of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ – Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime Video documentary about life on his Diddly Squat Farm – ‘Bridgerton’, ‘Heartstopper’, and ‘Slow Horses’, which features in the New Drama category.
The Gary Oldman-led show is up against the likes of ‘Screw’, ‘Pam Tommy’, ‘The Dropout’, ‘The Ipcress File’, ‘The Larkins’, and ‘Trigger Point’, among many others who have a chance of making the shortlist.
Other categories include Talent Show Judge and Talent Show, which features the likes of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, ‘Dancing on Ice’, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and Joel’s ‘The Masked Dancer’ and ‘The Masked Singer’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Fry thinks he will be sacked for by the BBC for being “old, fat and white.”
The 64-year-old star has worked for the broadcaster several times over the course of his career – famously hosting their flagship comedy panel show ‘QI’ for over a decade and starred in classic sketch show ‘A Bit of Fry Laurie’ on the BBC – but “wouldn’t be surprised” if he was shown the door in today’s world.
He said: “I’m not as old as the BBC but I’m getting there. You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if I was shown a red card. I can’t imagine myself stopping because I enjoy it too much. But I can imagine people saying: ‘do we really need this fat, old, white b*****? I’d be very upset if I was some great hero of comedy and drama who I sometimes overhear saying, “f****** BBC, once you get past… don’t they know what I’ve done for them?!”
The former ‘Alfresco’ star – who has been married to Elliott Spencer, 35, since 2015 – also admitted that although he is due to reach the age of retirement in August 2022, he has no plans to call time on his career altogether.
Speaking at the BFI and Radio Times Television Festival, he added: “I’m of an age that I could retire, so everything that’s coming to me is lucky. I’m happy to still be asked to do things. I’m going to Iceland and then a couple of weeks later I’m off to Amsterdam to do a documentary about these remarkable Dutch resistance fighters who were both openly gay in the 1930s when the Germans invaded the Netherlands, they had courage that’s just beyond belief.

OHMYGOSSIP — Huw Edwards was left unable to get out of bed during a bout of depression.
The 60-year-old broadcaster – who has fronted ‘BBC News at Ten’ for almost 20 years – opened up about his experiences with mental health to Men’s Health UK (https://www.menshealth.com/uk/ ) and admitted that he struggled to make decisions and “dreaded” going to work while suffering with “very bad” depression.
He said: “I’m pretty clear that I have suffered – and do suffer – from depression. It’s not anxiety, although it includes anxiety, but it tends to hit me in a strong wave and then go away…I think at least I now know when I’m going to enter a phase like that. Your mind goes into a place where you don’t want to do anything. You can’t make any decisions. Things that you usually enjoy, you dread. You come into work and obviously you do a professional job, but you’re kind of pushing your way through it. And, of course, if it’s very bad – as it has been a few times over the course of 20 years – you can’t work. During the worst one I had, I couldn’t get out of bed.”
However, Huw also revealed that in order to combat his ongoing struggles with depression, he has taken up boxing to “pull [his] way out of it.”
He explained: “[Boxing] is one of the things I can do when I feel myself on the slide. I can pull my way out of it. I go to see Clinton [McKenzie, former boxer] in the gym. He’s brilliant and he understands – he’s got a son who’s had depression, so he understands this stuff.”
The journalist – who is married to TV producer Vicky Flind and has children Amos, Rebecca, Dan, Sammy and Hannah with her – went on to reveal that and his family are “open” when it comes to having discussions about his mental health battles, noting that one of his daughters has a special “code” to check in on him.
He told Men’s Health UK: “Relatively open, yes…They accept it’s just part of who I am. And that’s been great. It’s been very rewarding. Vicky’s [his wife] incredibly easy-going, very sympathetic. She’s supportive when she needs to be, she steps back when she needs to. The kids have different views on it. One of my girls will come to me and ask how I’m feeling. She’s got a code – she’ll say: ‘How are you upstairs today?’ And I think, for a 20-year-old, that’s a nice thing to be asked.”
