Matt Hancock could swap politics for showbiz after I’m A Celeb… stint

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock could be set to cash in on his ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ stint and ditch politics for showbiz.
According to The Sun, the former Health Secretary’s partner Gina Coladangelo has been in talks with her PR friend Mayah Riaz about the 44-year-old politician’s next moves.
A source told the publication: “Gina has been speaking to her about a change of career for him.
“They’re aware they need to act fast and capitalise on the huge interest in him post-jungle.”
Matt, whose partaking in the celebrity competition was met with controversy, had insisted he signed up to show the real him.
After coming third in the ITV jungle reality show, he said: “I just wanted to show what I am like as a person.
“Lots of people come to me with preconceived ideas for obvious reasons and I just wanted to be myself.
“But I actually strongly believed as politicians as a whole we don’t come across as human enough.”
While he was in the camp, a banner was flown above the set in Australia imploring the Conservative MP to “get out” of the jungle.
Campaign group 38 Degrees claimed responsibility for the message, which read “Covid Bereaved say get out of here”, on behalf of the group COVID-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK.
Matthew McGregor, chief executive of 38 Degrees, said: “No-one has forgotten how Matt Hancock conducted himself during the Covid-19 pandemic: not the general public, not his campmates, and certainly not those who lost loved ones.
“Our message emblazoned across the skies makes crystal clear to Matt Hancock: you should be representing the people of West Suffolk and giving Covid Bereaved Families the answers they deserve, rather than playing games for dingo dollars, plastic stars and a [reported] £400,000 paycheck.”
Hancock was suspended by the Conservative party earlier this month after it was announced that he would be appearing on the programme.
Adulterous Hancock was forced to resign as Health Secretary in June 2021 for breaking his own social distancing guidelines after he was caught kissing aide and now-girlfriend Gina.
Matt lost out on the title of King of the Jungle with former Lioness Jill Scott, 35, crowned Queen of the Jungle.
‘Hollyoaks’ star Owen Warner, 23, came second.

Dwayne Johnson fought to have Henry Cavill’s Superman in Black Adam

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne Johnson had to fight for Henry Cavill to reprise his role as Superman for ‘Black Adam’ as Warner Bros. “inexplicably and inexcusably” didn’t want him back.
The 50-year-old wrestler-turned-actor stars in the titular role in the blockbuster DC movie, and Dwayne has revealed he was determined to get Henry, 39, back in his suit.
In a video posted to Twitter, he said: “We have to bring back the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time in any universe. And you guys know who I’m talking about? Of course, that is Superman. And that’s Henry Cavill.”
The ‘Jungle Cruise’ star was insistent that the flick could not happen without “the most powerful force of all time”.
Dwayne went on: “This has been years in the making regarding bringing Henry Cavill back and years of strategic conversations and we were not going to take no for an answer.
“There was no way, there’s no viable logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe without the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines. It’s impossible to do.”
Dwayne said no other Superman would do.
He insisted: “You have to have Superman in the mix. So that’s why we fought hard to bring Superman back, Henry Cavill, and there was no other Superman, by the way, to bring back Henry Cavill is our generation Superman and in my opinion, the greatest Superman. And I mean that respectfully to the other actors, especially Christopher Reeve, but the greatest Superman of all time.”
He concluded that with Henry’s Superman in tow, they can “now build out the DC Universe, properly, strategically and smartly.”

Anya Taylor-Joy says Nicolas Hoult committed to ‘painful’ eating in The Menu

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy has applauded her ‘The Menu’ co-star Nicolas Hoult for his dedication to eating on camera.
In the new black comedy film, the actors play a couple who travel to a remote island to sample a menu at one of the world’s most exclusive restaurants and Nicolas had to stuff himself with food on set every day – and Anya has praised him for his commitment to the role.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, she said: “It sounds silly, but he is like a genuinely deeply committed actor because there’s a point where eating becomes painful. And Nick just never wavered. Just kept going. It was pretty impressive. You were like a Hyde Park pigeon.”
The actress also revealed she prepared for the role by binge-watching Netflix docuseries ‘Chef’s Table ‘, joking: “I love being able to lie down in joggers and watch Chef’s Table and say that I’m doing research.”
The mysterious celebrity chef in ‘The Menu’ is played by ‘Harry Potter’ star Ralph Fiennes and his casting had a huge effect on Anya as she is a huge fan of the wizard franchise because the Argentinian-born actress taught herself English by reading the books as a child.
She said of working with Fiennes: “I learnt English reading ‘Harry Potter’ so it was a bit of a big deal but my subconscious does this thing of barring me from information that I can’t handle if I have a job to do
“So I was cool and we got along really well but the second it was over I like, ‘Oh my God!’ and rang my mum and said: ‘The last person that faced-off with Voldemort was Harry and now it’s me!'”

Lembit Opik: Matt Hancock has redeemed himself with I’m A Celeb stint

OHMYGOSSIP — Lembit Opik thinks Matt Hancock “redeemed himself” by taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 44-year-old politician served as the UK’s health secretary during the COVID-19 pandemic but resigned when he was caught breaking his own guidelines by having an affair with Gina Coladangelo and controversially signed up for the ITV reality series in which he eventually placed third.
Now, fellow MP Lembit Opik,57, – who finished in 10th place on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ in 2010 – explained that Matt was “right” to take part in the series as he spoke out in his defence and explained that
He said: “I would say he was right, he did redeem himself and he got to the final and I’m sorry to say that’s a lot better that I did!”
“My agent Terry Mills, he was HIV+ and he died of COVID and my mother, I didn’t see her for 18 months before she died. Just because he’s got a past – people make mistakes. The fact is that he is going back into very serious analysis. 3 out f 10 people have changed their view which is not bad.”
Lembit added that Matt – who had undertaken six consecutive trials during his 21-day stint in the jungle but was beaten in the grand final by ‘Hollyoaks’ star Owen Warner, and Queen of the Jungle and Lioness Jill Scott – went onto the show “vilified” and hopes that the reality TV stint has led to forgiveness from the rest of the country.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: “To the best of my knowledge they do not rig the ballot for ‘I’m A Celebrity.’ He went in there vilified, he doesn’t expect everyone to forgive him, all I’m saying is I don’t think he made those mistakes on purpose and he resigned. I forgive him and I hope the rest of the country does. ”

Glen Powell hated Top Gun: Maverick character initially

OHMYGOSSIP — Glen Powell disliked his ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ character at first.
The 34-year-old actor starred in the action sequel as Lieutenant Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin but confessed that he had reservations about his part and considered his alter ego to be a “Navy Draco Malfoy” in a comparison to the ‘Harry Potter’ antagonist.
Glen told GQ magazine: “He was there to add conflict to Rooster’s character, which is a good thing, but he wasn’t three-dimensional and he had no pay off. I didn’t know why he existed.
“It was a leap of faith. In hindsight, I’m like, God, I can’t imagine if I missed out on this one, but it wasn’t so obvious.”
Glen explained how Tom Cruise helped him to discover ways to make the character more likeable and explained how body language such as putting his feet up could alienate audiences in foreign markets.
The ‘Hidden Figures’ star recalled Cruise telling him: “It’s not that I need people to root for you, but I need them to love watching you.
“In some places in the world, this piece of body language will turn them off emotionally to your character.”
Powell revealed that working with Tom has given him a better knowledge of the movie industry and he now has a clearer idea about the type of actor he wants to be.
He said: “To make movies on that scale, if you want to make a ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, with that budget, you have to be able to justify your value as a star, and your creative influence, to make sure that movie will play everywhere.
“That’s where studios trust Tom. They look at Tom and they go, ‘Yeah, you know how to do this, go do it.’ I find that to be a really fun challenge. Do I have the ability to do that?”

Antonio Banderas tips Tom Holland to replace him as Zorro

OHMYGOSSIP — Antonio Banderas wants Tom Holland to replace him as Zorro.
The 62-year-old star played the masked vigilante in the 1998 movie ‘The Mask of Zorro’ and the 2005 sequel ‘The Legend of Zorro’ and explained that his ‘Uncharted’ co-star Holland would be the ideal actor to take his place as the character.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Antonio said: “I did ‘Uncharted’ with him, and he’s so energetic and fun, and he’s got this spark too. Why not?”
The ‘Puss in Boots’ actor revealed he would consider returning for a third movie to deliver the mask to Holland – just as his predecessor Sir Anthony Hopkins did in ‘The Mask of Zorro’.
Antonio explained: “Yes, I would. I would consider that possibility. Why not?
“I think, during today’s interviews, I said something like that to somebody. I said, ‘Well, if they called me to do Zorro, I would do what Anthony Hopkins did in the first (for) me, (which is) give the torch to somebody else.'”
Meanwhile, Antonio previously revealed that he was approached by legendary director Quentin Tarantino about a ‘Zorro’ and ‘Django Unchained’ crossover film that would have seen him teaming up with Jamie Foxx.
Banderas believes that Tarantino’s filmmaking style would have been perfect for the unmade movie and he would have loved the chance to work with both Foxx and the ‘Pulp Fiction’ filmmaker.
The Spanish actor said: “He talked to me, I think on the Oscar night (in 2020) when I was nominated for ‘Pain and Glory’. We saw each other at one of those parties.
“He just came up to me and I was like, ‘In your hands? Yeah, man!’ Because Quentin just had that nature to do those types of movies and give them quality. Even if they are based on those types of B-movies of the 60s and 70s, he can take that material and do something really interesting.
“We’ve never worked together, but it would be great because of him, because of Jamie Foxx and because of (playing) Zorro again when he’s a little bit older. It would be fantastic and funny and crazy.”

Jill Scott missed the World Cup games ‘so much’ when she was in the jungle

OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Scott missed the football “so much” during her time on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here.’
The 35-year-old Lioness had been taking part in the ITV reality series in Australia – which she was eventually crowned winner of on Sunday (27.11.22) night – while the World Cup games started in Qatar and revealed that while she “obviously” missed her fiancee Shelly Unitt, she and runner-up Owen Warner were “begging” producers on-set for the scores.
She said: “Don’t get me into trouble, it’s got to be Shelly and obviously my family and friends but I have missed the World Cup games so much. Me and Owen were begging for the scores and then the day that we had an ice lolly and the scores were revealed on the stick, that was one of the best days in the jungle.”
Meanwhile, Jill – who was part of the England team when they won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 – also revealed that despite her victory on the reality series, she has made no plans yet to go into television presenting.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ in her first interview since winning ‘I’m A Celebrity…’, she told hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls: “It has taken two showers and two baths just to smell half decent. “I haven’t got any plans [for television]. Once I retired I should’ve really had a plan in place, so that’s how I kind of landed in the jungle. But I think your job is very safe!”
The former Sunderland player also added that she would like fellow football star Jordan Henderson to brave the jungle, but only once he has retired himself.
She said: “Jordan Henderson fellow Mackem , he’s got a strong mindset so let’s put him in the jungle but only once he’s retired!”

Bonnie Langford would ‘never say never’ to an EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Bonnie Langford would “never say never” to an ‘EastEnders’ return.
The 58-year-old actress – who shot to fame as a child in the 1970s on ‘Opportunity Knocks’ – appeared as Carmel Kazemi on the BBC soap opera in 2016 and even won the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer but has not ruled out the idea of a return since her 2018 departure.
She said: “I think I’m still in the black taxi making my way to Dubai. They killed off the rest of my family in the show except my grandson who apparently is still there. I enjoyed my time on ‘EastEnders’ and I would never say never. Maybe I’ll come back in a taxi and say, ‘I’m here!’ Carmel is not gone, that’s for sure!”
Meanwhile, the West End star – is set to pay tribute to late legendary actress Judy Garland – who died of an accidental drugs overdose in 1969 at the age of 47 -as part of a charity concert alongside former ‘Loose Women’ panellist Lisa Maxwell and fellow ‘EastEnders’ actress Tamzin Outhwaite as they perform the back catalogue of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ actress in aid of homeless charity Centrepoint.
She told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “It felt important to be able to do something for Centrepoint, with the cost of living crisis and young people struggling to keep a roof over their heads, and some don’t have a roof at all, as we get closer to winter. There’s also a link with Judy’s own life. She had so many troubles herself and was actually homeless, which seems inconceivable but shows it can happen to anybody. Judy started out [in showbusiness] as a young person like me. That story wasn’t necessarily a happy one, but I am still here and still doing it.”
The one-off concert will take place at the Lyric Theatre in London on Monday 28 November.

Joe Lycett praised by LGBT charities for his £10,000 donation.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Lycett has been praised by LGBT charities for his £10,000 donation.
The 34-year-old comic shocked everyone when he followed through on his threat to shred ten grand cash when David Beckham did not respond to his challenge to speak out against the Qatari government – who threaten people engaging in same-sex relations with up to seven years in prison – after he signed a £10 million contract to promote the FIFA World Cup.
However, later Joe revealed the money he destroyed was fake and he had already given it to two charities promoting inclusivity in sport even before he challenged the ex-England captain – who posed for Attitude, a gay magazine, in 2002 – to sever ties with Qatar.
Angus Malcolm, the head of Sports Allies – who got half the money – told the Metro.co.uk: “We already make films, but we have been keen to explore new ways to share them.
“Lycett’s gift will allow us to build a vibrant offer on film-centred media platforms such as TikTok and, increasingly, Instagram. If the halo effect of Joe’s gift keeps attracting new donors, it will also enable us to produce regular, more news-driven content.”
The rest of the dosh was given to Rainbow Laces’ campaign – an offshoot of Stonewall – who condemn the The FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Sasha Misra, a rep from the charity said: “We are thrilled to be included in Joe Lycett’s 10,000 donation to charities that promote equality in football and are challenging the appalling human rights record of Qatar as they host the Men’s World Cup.
“LGBTQ+ people are criminalised in Qatar just for being themselves and no country which abuses the human rights of its people in this way should be awarded the honour of hosting a major sporting tournament in the first place.”

Joe Thomas not sure about Inbetweeners reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Thomas is not sure about the idea of an ‘Inbetweeners’ reunion.
The 39-year-old actor shot to fame by playing sixth former Simon Cooper in the E4 coming-of-age sitcom alongside Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and James Buckey but is not sure whether a new series would be on the cards even though there are “obvious” plotlines.
He said: “I don’t know, there are obvious things. such as a wedding or a reunion but it has to be the right idea. Obviously, I love those guys and loved doing that show so would always work with them on anything, even if I was 80. It was the start of my career; the writers, lain Morris and Damon Beesley, really mentored us and I’ve got a huge amount of gratitude for that. I miss them a bit. Iain is in the States now and I haven’t seen Damon for a while, while the other three guys I see occasionally.
Meanwhile, Joe – who also appeared as Simon in the two feature-length adaptations of the series – is now starring in the extraterrestrial comedy film ‘We Are Not Alone’ on Dave and described the project of a “mashup” between ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘Shaun of the Dead.’
He told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “It reminds me of Hot Fuzz or Shaun Of The Dead, that kind of mash-up. There’s a level of bureaucratic incompetence to the invasion, like the aliens can’t get their guns to plug in properly. It reminds me of a picture book I read when I was a kid called Dr Xargle’s Book Of Earthlets. It was like, ‘Why do they take this animal around on a rope and then clean up its poo for no reason? Do they work for the animal?’ Human behaviour would appear quite irrational to an enlightened alien. ”
‘We Are Not Alone’ airs on Monday 28 November on Dave.

She said: “I was really excited to meet all of Davide’s family as well as explore and learn more about Davide’s culture. I was so excited to go on the road trip because we talked about it in the Villa and it is surreal it has actually happened! I was also really looking forward to Davide driving us around. I didn’t feel out of my comfort zone at all. I was very excited the whole way on both trips. There was something new and exciting to look forward to everyday. Catherine Zeta-Jones wishes she could have played James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine Zeta-Jones regrets not playing James Bond.
The Oscar-winning actress is convinced that she had the acting “chops” to be the first female 007 and recalled how she dreamt of being a female spy when she was a child.
Catherine told Telegraph magazine: “I had the chops to be a female Bond. For many years I was Bond material. Actually, I used to dream of being a female spy when I was a kid – if I didn’t make it as an actress. Then, later, I had big aspirations, and this was before there was even a female ‘Doctor Who’.”
There is currently a 007 vacancy to be filled after Daniel Craig’s exit last year and Catherine would jump at the chance to be the next Bond.
Asked how she would respond if approached by Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, the 53-year-old star said: “Oh, it would absolutely be a yes. No question.”
Catherine relocated to the US during the 1990s but questioned whether she was good-looking enough to land roles in big movies.
She recalled: “I mean I still don’t… I never thought that I was… Beautiful?
“With (1998 film) ‘The Mask of Zorro’, I just remember calling my mum from a payphone after the audition. There were five actresses there that I won’t name but are still very big now, and I said to my mum: ‘Well if this is a beauty contest, I’m telling you, I haven’t got the part. I’ve seen the others in hair and make-up – and I haven’t got it.'”
However, Catherine has always been confident in her professional ability.
She said: “I hope this doesn’t sound conceited, but I’ve never had imposter syndrome when it comes to acting because I’ve never done anything else in my life.”

Tony Kushner loved writing The Fabelmans with Steven Spielberg

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Kushner says that co-writing ‘The Fabelmans’ with Steven Spielberg was the most enjoyable experience of his career.
The 66-year-old screenwriter has worked with the iconic director to pen the script for the semi-autobiographical project that is loosely based on Spielberg’s upbringing and has relished the process.
Tony told Collider: “I mean, it is literally co-written. We sat on a Zoom three days a week, four hours a day from October to December in 2020, and we wrote the first draft.
“I had written an 81-page sort of gathering up of all of his memories that he had told me, and trying to string them together as a narrative, with characters and with specific characters and stuff, as a way of just starting. Then we took that, and we boiled that down into an outline, for what looked like it could be a feature-length film.
“And then at one point, Steven said, ‘Let’s start writing’, and we used a collaboration software that enabled us. I typed, but he could see my typing. We started a blank page, and we wrote the whole thing.
“Yeah, there were a couple of places where I would take it and try something, and send it back to him, or whatever, but it is a co-written screenplay.”
Tony – who has penned the script for Spielberg flicks ‘Lincoln’ and ‘West Side Story’ – added: “I’ve never had more fun writing anything in my entire life. I loved it. I wasn’t really surprised.
“I think ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ is one of the greatest movies of all time, and he wrote it, and you could tell that he wrote it. It’s his own very original imagination.”

EastEnders star Shane Richie was ‘approached’ about Doctor Who lead role

OHMYGOSSIP — Shane Richie claims he was approached about the lead role in ‘Doctor Who’.
The ‘EastEnders’ star – who will play a Time Lord called Drax in Big Finish’s new audio series ‘Connections’ – recalled a time in the 2000s when there was “some interest” in the Alfie Moon actor swapping Albert Square for all of space and time.
He told RadioTimes.com: “The deal was I’d go in [to ‘EastEnders’] for three months, see the reaction, and then they’d talk about renewing the contract.
“It took off, so I signed a three year deal – but what happened in the meantime was the papers had said I was only going in for three months… and then someone said, ‘We just want to know the availability for Shane Richie to play Doctor Who.’
“Of course, it wasn’t the monster it is now, so I didn’t think any more about it. But there was an availability check and there was some interest.
“I think my manager had a meeting about it. But I’d signed up to [play] Alfie for three years.”
Shane is glad to be getting his chance to step into the sci-fi franchise’s world in ‘Connections’, which follows the Eighth Doctor Paul McGann and sees the soap star playing a character previously portrayed by Barry Jackson in 1979’s TV adventure ‘The Armageddon Factor’.
He added: “I play a Time Lord – how cool is that? I am Drax. He’s gone a bit astray. He’s a wheeler dealer, he’s a law unto himself. He’s in it for what he can get out of it.
“He has no cares about anyone else. But there’s still something endearing about him. Imagine Alfie Moon but a Time Lord.”
While Shane missed out on the role, the part of the Ninth Doctor instead went to Christopher Eccleston, and the Time Lord has since been played by David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker.
Jo Martin and John Hurt have both played versions of the Doctor in the series, while Tennant is set to return in 2023 before Ncuti Gatwa officially takes over.
