James Cameron tells Matt Damon to ‘get over’ Avatar snub

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron has told Matt Damon to “get over” turning down ‘Avatar’.
The 52-year-old actor revealed last year that he was courted by the director to star in the 2009 sci-fi epic but rejected a deal that would have seen him get 10 per cent of the movie’s box office profits, which would have earned him more than $250 million.
However, the ‘Titanic’ director has little sympathy for the Hollywood star.
In an interview with the BBC, James said: “He’s beating himself up over this. And I really think you know, ‘Matt you’re kind of like one of the biggest movie stars in the world, get over it.’
“But he had to do another ‘Bourne’ film which was on his runway and there was nothing we could do about that. So he had to regretfully decline.”
Cameron would be happy for Damon to make a cameo appearance in a future ‘Avatar’ sequel but wouldn’t be offering him any box office takings.
When asked about an appearance from Matt, the filmmaker said: “Must do it. We have to do it so the world is in equilibrium again. But he doesn’t get 10 per cent, f*** that.”
Matt previously lamented how turning down the chance to play Jake Sully cost him a fortune as the part eventually went to Sam Worthington.
He said: “I was offered a little movie called ‘Avatar’. I will go down in history. You will never meet an actor who turned down more money than me.”
Damon joked that he would have had enough money to send a rocket into space like tycoons Sir Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos.
‘The Departed’ actor said: “With these billionaires blasting off into space I probably would have bought a rocket ship, I don’t know.”

Vicky McClure ‘sure’ Line of Duty will return

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure is “sure” ‘Line of Duty’ will return at some point.
The 39-year-old star admits she, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar are “all game” for another series, but she hinted Martin’s busy schedule could make it tricky.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “I speak to the lads all the time, we’d all love to, we’re all game – Martin’s in nine shows!
“It’s busy, I’m sure we’ll get there.”
Last month, Adrian – who portrays Superintendent Ted Hastings in the hit police drama – admitted the ‘Line of Duty’ cast are “keeping their fingers crossed” that there will be a seventh series.
Asked if they might “do another one”, he replied: “Yes, there is every possibility. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll hear something at some point.
“We all want to get back together again. We’d love to go back to Belfast again.”
Adrian is hoping he and his co-stars can “have a bit of fun” shooting another series, after season six was filmed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He added: “The last time we did it it was in lockdown, so we were all in bubbles. We couldn’t get out … everything was shut. So we’d like to get back to Belfast for a bit of fun.”
In August, Adrian admitted a new ‘Line of Duty’ series might focus on “something from past episodes”, and teased that the 2021 finale – which drew in almost 17 million viewers – may “not be the last” audiences see of the BBC show.
He said: “My thinking is that, no, it’s not the last you might see of us. I know that there are people who are talking and some plans, but I don’t know exactly what would happen. I don’t know what shape it might take. There was talk of a film, there was talk about maybe two 90 minutes, there was talk about three one hours, I don’t know.”

Michael B. Jordan: Creed III isn’t a typical boxing film

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan thinks that ‘Creed III’ is not a “typical boxing movie”.
The 35-year-old actor is to reprise his role as Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed in the latest ‘Rocky’ spin-off film and claims that emotion is at the heart of the project, which marks his directorial debut.
In a behind-the-scenes feature about the making of the film, Michael said: “‘Creed III’ is not just your typical boxing movie. We really wanted to take advantage of the emotional journey of the characters, and put that into the ring and have it pay off in a physical way.”
The new movie sees Donnie happy as both a boxer and family man before his peace is interrupted by childhood friend Damian Andersen (Jonathan Majors) resurfacing after a long prison sentence.
The friendship turns into bitterness as the pair face off in a bout that is more than just a fight and Michael felt “eternally grateful” to have the opportunity to get behind the camera for the first time on the film – which is to be released in March 2023.
He explained: “I’ve been living with this character for eight years.
“We laughed, cheered, cried together. A core pillar of this franchise is figuring out who you really are and what’s worth fighting for.
“In ‘Creed III’, I wanted to know what Adonis’ limits were. So, to be able to finally step behind the camera and continue to elevate and evolve this story, is something I’m eternally grateful for.”
Jordan revealed that he is optimistic that fans will be able to take something valuable away from the movie.
He said: “I hope audiences walk away feeling inspired and have the courage to do something that you normally wouldn’t do.”

The 33-year-old actor will feature in the highly-anticipated new film, which also features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, as a version of a Ken doll and claims that the recently-released trailer encapsulates the nature of the movie.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Simu said: “It was pretty much what you see in the trailer. I feel like you can kind of surmise what kind of experience we had filming it just by watching the trailer. It’s so much fun.
“The dancing, the laughing, all of that. That was every single day for us on set. So now to finally see that in a work form is actually surreal because we just felt like we were having fun the whole time.”
The ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ star is looking forward to audiences seeing the complete movie when it is released next summer.
He said: “But I’m really excited for people to watch more. I think there will be one more trailer that comes out before the movie, but I think it’s great to keep the audience guessing, and I can’t wait for them to see.”
Margot is front and centre in the trailer and claims that the movie is “everything you’ve ever dreamed of”.
The 32-year-old star’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment secured the rights to the story for the film and she revealed that director Greta Gerwig was her first choice to helm the flick.
Margot said: “I’ve been working on it for about four or five years now — it’s a LuckyChap project. And we went after Greta [Gerwig]. There were maybe three people that we would want to make a ‘Barbie’ movie with, and I was like, if she says no …. So thank God she said yes. She’s just brilliant.”

“I learned so much and I met some amazing people. For now, I want to see where this takes me. But never say never!”

Leigh Francis films pilot with Bo Selecta characters

OHMYGOSSIP — Leigh Francis has filmed a pilot for a new show featuring some of his ‘Bo’ Selecta!’ characters.
The 49-year-old comedian previously issued an apology for portraying black celebrities in the Channel 4 sketch show – which aired from 2002 to 2009 – but now Leigh has told how characters Avid Merrion and The Bear could be coming back to the small screen.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Avid Merrion is wandering around somewhere.
“He’s a bit different though, he’s grown up. The Bear was in the pilot too. I don’t know if he’ll stick around, it’s all in the hands of the TV Gods.”
In 2020, Leigh was in tears as he issued an apology about ‘Bo’ Selecta!’.
The 49-year-old comedian – who is best known for starring as character Keith Lemon in numerous shows – took to Instagram to share a video of himself saying sorry for his portrayals of celebrities such as Craig David and Michael Jackson on the 2002 programme.
He said in the clip: “My name’s Leigh Francis I play a character called Keith Lemon on television.
“It’s been a weird few days, I’ve sat and thought about things and what I could post to help things.
“Back in 2002, I did a show called ‘Bo’ Selecta’. I portrayed many black people. Back then I didn’t think anything about it, people didn’t say anything, I’m not going to blame other people.
“I’ve been talking to some people, I didn’t realise how offensive it was back then.
“I just want to apologise, I just want to say sorry for any upset I caused, whether I was Michael Jackson, Craig David, Trisha Goddard, all people I’m a big fan of. I guess we’re all on a learning journey.”
The ‘Celebrity Juice’ presenter admitted he is “deeply sorry” for any offence he caused on the series.
He captioned the video: “Following recent events, I’ve done a lot of talking and learning and I would like to put this out there. I want to apologise to anyone that was offended by Bo’selecta. I’m on a constant journey of knowledge and just wanted to say I’m deeply sorry. #blacklivesmatter (sic)”
Leigh’s comments came after Black Lives Matter protests took place around many cities all over the world following the death of George Floyd, who died in the US after a police officer knelt on his neck when restraining him.

Anthea Turner wants to bring back The Perfect Housewife

OHMYGOSSIP — Anthea Turner wants to bring back ‘The Perfect Housewife’.
The ex ‘GMTV’ host is keen to reboot the Noughties BBC Three programme that helped homemakers “look after” the domestic sphere, as she believes the “new generation of women” haven’t had anyone to “teach them”.
The 62-year-old television presenter told the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column: “There’s never been a time when people’s homes needed more looking after and we needed perfect housewives back.
“We need to look after our home and clean it up and cook from scratch. We need to get back to all of those basics and save some money.
“I think the problem with this new generation of women is they haven’t had anyone to teach them. It’s not their fault, we sold them the dream and a few practicalities need brushing up on now. So Turner’s here.”
In October, Anthea admitted it was like someone had “invaded” her body when she was perimenopausal.
She said: “I hadn’t a clue what was going on. We need to talk about it – it’s a horrible time.
“You just all of a sudden don’t feel yourself. And I know that sounds such a pathetic thing to say, ‘Oh, I don’t feel myself,’ but you really don’t. You feel like somebody’s invaded your body.
“All your markers are all out by a few degrees. I got spots on my back and I was sweating. I felt my confidence was going. I was getting brain fog, I was questioning myself.
“You want to turn to the person who’s the most important in your life, your husband, and I couldn’t. I’d be going backwards and forwards to Toronto at the time because I was doing a programme out there.”

The 35-year-old former soccer star was crowned the so-called Queen of the Jungle in November – but Jill admits that winning the Euros with England in the summer is still her highlight of the last 12 months.
Jill – who announced her retirement in August – explained: “People ask me, ‘What means more, the Euros or being Queen of the Jungle?’
“The Euros was something I worked my a*** off for every single day of my 16 years of playing for England. It was the best moment of my life, getting that gold medal and now, to know I’ve retired with women’s football in such a better place, if you’ve contributed even one percent, then that fills my heart with joy.
“Nothing can beat the Euros win, but I guess the jungle has been the icing on the cake.”
Jill was previously congratulated on her Euros success by Prince William, and she revealed that he’s always been “really supportive” of the England team.

Speaking about her approach towards one trial in particular, she said: “Being involved in sport, it’s not about being involved at an elite level; it’s about learning how to win and how to lose, helping others.
“I am scared of heights myself but I saw Charlene [White] needed me in that moment.”

Sally Dynevor ‘signs new Coronation Street contract’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sally Dynevor has signed a new one-year contract with ‘Coronation Street’.
The 59-year-old actress has played Sally Metcalfe in the ITV soap since 1986, and she’s now committed herself to the show for another year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “For many, Sally is ‘Corrie’ so bosses were chuffed she chose to renew her contract.”
Michael LeVell – who plays the part of Kevin Webster – has also signed a new contract.
The 58-year-old actor joined the long-running soap in 1983 and he has already appeared in more than 3,000 episodes of ‘Coronation Street’.
In fact, between them, Sally and Michael have appeared in almost 7,000 episodes of the show.
Earlier this year, meanwhile, Sally revealed that she would love to work with her daughter Phoebe.
The 27-year-old actress shot to worldwide stardom as Daphne in the hit Netflix series ‘Bridgerton’, and Sally admitted that she’d relish the chance to work with her daughter one day.
She said: “I would like to do something with Phoebe. That would be a dream, I would love that. It would be amazing being on screen or on stage with her.”
Sally has Phoebe, Samuel, 25, and Harriet, 19, with scriptwriter Tim Dynevor, and Phoebe previously admitted that her mum has been delighted by the success of ‘Bridgerton’, which is one of Netflix’s most-watched shows.

Larry Lamb relishes the ‘challenge’ of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Larry Lamb is relishing the “challenge” of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special.
The 75-year-old actor has joined forces with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova for the upcoming special, and Larry has likened appearing on the show to “entering as a stranger into a world you already know”.
The actor – who played Archie Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ and Mick Shipman in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ – shared: “Somebody told me that the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special always blows the TV figures out of the water and I said, ‘Yes, but it didn’t blow the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ Christmas special out, did it?’ And they said, ‘No, you’re right it didn’t blow it out at all’. I’ve been in one big show on Christmas night, and now here’s another!
“It’s like you when you first join ‘EastEnders’ and you find yourself in the Queen Vic, you realise that you’re kind of somewhere you’ve had a taste of for many years and then all of a sudden it’s reality, and you have to take it all in and think ‘wow!’ It’s like entering as a stranger into a world you already know.”
Larry thinks he’s really “lucky” to have been partnered with Nadiya, who has helped to dramatically improve his dance moves.
The TV star doesn’t have any idea whether he can win the Christmas special, but he’s still relishing the challenge.
He shared: “I’m doing this as a challenge to myself and now I can actually dance. I’ve learned how to do a dance routine. So whoever wins is whoever wins and I’m winning already, just by being in it.”

Richard Madeley ‘misses out on hosting Jeopardy! reboot’

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madeley has reportedly missed out on the chance to host a British version of ‘Jeopardy!’.
The iconic game show – which debuted on US TV in 1964 – was recently made into a pilot for ITV, but producers have ultimately decided against turning it into a full series.
An insider said: “Richard had high hopes that he would have a huge hit with ‘Jeopardy!’ and it could have really capped his 45-year career.
“But the pilot just didn’t work for some reason.”
Although Richard, 66, was hopeful of hosting the British version of the game show, ITV “wasn’t prepared to take the risk”.
The source told The Sun newspaper: “Of course, not every format in the US can work for UK audiences but ITV wasn’t prepared to take the risk.”
British versions of ‘Jeopardy!’ previously appeared on UK TV screens between 1983 and 1984 on Channel 4, on ITV from 1990 to 1993 and on Sky One from 1995 to 1996.
However, it failed to capture the imagination of the public and ITV has now declined the opportunity to revive the show.
Meanwhile, Richard recently admitted that he would like to go back on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The TV presenter took part in the 2021 series of the show – which took place in Wales because of COVID-19 restrictions – but he was forced to withdraw after just five days because he needed hospital treatment.
Asked if he’d like to have another chance on the show, Richard replied: “They haven’t asked me … To be fair, I’d think about it quite seriously. I don’t blame them, that was the way it was.
“We were all living with the COVID restrictions at that time, so I couldn’t go back.”

Ol Parker teases third Mamma Mia! movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Ol Parker has teased the prospect of a third ‘Mamma Mia!’ film.
The 53-year-old filmmaker helmed the second movie in the ABBA musical franchise, ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’, and has claimed that producer Judy Craymer has plans in place for another flick.
Ol told Screen Rant: “Judy Craymer, the genius producer behind the musical and the first two films, always plans for it to be a trilogy. That’s all I can say.
“The first one made an enormous amount of money, and I think we made a fair amount, too. I know that there is a hunger for a third, and I know that she has a plan. Wouldn’t it be lovely?”
Craymer revealed in 2020 that she had been trying to figure out an idea for ‘Mamma Mia 3’ and was planning to use four new ABBA songs in the film penned by band members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
She said at the time: “I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with COVID fog.
“I think one day there will be another film because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see. I know Universal would like me to do it.”
Amanda Seyfried plays Sophie Sheridan in the franchise but previously said that she was unconvinced that a third film would be possible due to a lack of ABBA material.
The 37-year-old star said: “Listen, every single person in that movie would say yes in a heartbeat because we want to hang out with each other. That’s what we talked about last time, like did we ever think that we’d end up here again on an Island in Croatia?
“So yeah, I wish there was a ‘Mamma Mia 3’, but I’ll tell you what – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and I hope I’m wrong again. I don’t think there are enough ABBA songs to make a third movie. Because we’d have to use ‘Super Trooper’ again and we’d have to use ‘Mamma Mia’ again and have to use them in a different way.”
