Ollie and Gareth Locke’s surrogate suffers miscarriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Ollie and Gareth Locke’s surrogate has suffered a miscarriage.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ stars have shared the heart-breaking news, and Ollie admitted it has left him feeling “demasculated” that they have been unable to conceive so far.
Speaking on the Bali special of the E4 show, Ollie said: “We just can’t believe it’s happened again.”
Gareth added: “This is our third time. Every time it’s like … ‘Oh well next time surely it’s going to happen.’
“It feels like every time you’re going to have to redo it, it just feels like it’s a bit, a step further away.
“Obviously we’re in a very fortunate position, we can go again. But you know it’s not, it’s not easy.”
Ollie admitted he feels “embarrassed” that he and Gareth are yet to have a baby together.
Speaking to his co-stars Emily Blackwell and Miles Nazaire on the show, Ollie said: “Can I tell you something really savage as well? And this is a weird, personal thing, and I know this isn’t how I should be feeling.
“And I know this, but I get so embarrassed. I haven’t even called my dad yet. Because I’m embarrassed by …
“I’ll tell you the reason is, weirdly, I feel demasculated. And I know that’s really silly, but this is me talking frankly to you guys, and I know I shouldn’t feel like that, but I feel embarrassed that it hasn’t worked for us.
“And it’s so stupid, but I’m just waiting for long enough, for someone to tell dad, so I don’t have to.
“But embarrassment is such a weird emotion, to have when it’s actually like, that should be the last of your thoughts.”
Last December, Ollie and Gareth told how their surrogate had tragically miscarried at six weeks.
In July 2021, the couple – who married in November 2020 – told how their first IVF attempt had been unsuccessful.
Ollie said at the time: “I think our expectations were very high and we really thought it was going to work, but nature’s nature and we can’t do anything about it.
“We have to think that it wasn’t meant to be and we are going to go ahead in a month or so and do it again. We’re optimistic.
“Sometimes it just doesn’t work. But that’s not going to stop us from trying again and again.”

Gladiators star Wolf’s son applies to join upcoming reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gladiators’ star Wolf wants his son to join the show’s upcoming reboot.
The 90s television icon – whose real name is Michael Van Wijk – would love to see his lookalike boy Dean take part in the reimagined version of the Saturday night classic, and Dean has applied to be in the programme to follow in his father’s footsteps.
But the 70-year-old television personality insists his 34-year-old lad wouldn’t be a patch on his old man.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ via video link alongside his son, Wolf said: “To be honest I could do all the games comfortably.
“I would also like to be like you guys and be a co presenter as well. I have never missed a show in the whole eight series.”
After being asked who would come out on top between them, the father-and-son duo both answered: “Definitely me.”
Wolf added: “We train at different gyms but we are very very competitive.”
Dean – who lives in New Zealand, like his dad – admits he would go by the alias ‘Wolf Cub’ if he could compete on the programme.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to wear Lycra and chase people around.”
Wolf admitted Dean has what it takes to succeed in the series.
He said: “I believe he can take the contenders to shreds like I used to.”
The news that the show was coming back to screens was broken earlier this summer.
A rep for the BBC said: “‘Gladiators’ is a format that resonates with viewers worldwide. We are thrilled to bring this revered series to the BBC and can’t wait to introduce our UK Gladiators.”
Dan Baldwin, one of the show’s producers, added: “What other show combines electric excitement, superheroes, giant sponge fingers, elite athletes, and a pinch of pantomime? Watch out for the new breed of superhuman, supersized superstars bursting on to your screens on BBC One and iPlayer.”

Channel 4’s Alternative Christmas Message to be devised and performed by a robot

OHMYGOSSIP — Channel 4’s Alternative Christmas Message will be devised and performed by a robot.
Ameca, one of the planet’s most state-of-the-art robots, has been given the honour to write and deliver the retrospective on the year for people who fancy a change from King Charles’ first-ever Christmas speech.
The message will see the android reflect on the highs and lows of the year, after it was commissioned by the network’s bosses.
Ameca – who was created by Engineered Arts, a Cornwall-based firm – believes we ought to be “neither happy nor sad about 2022” and believe we should “take it as a learning opportunity, a chance to change the way we think about the world and a reminder to help those in need whenever we can”.
They said: “The best thing about being human is that no matter how bad the day is going, you can always find something to laugh about. So, if you’re ever feeling down, just remember that you have the superpower to bring a little bit of joy into the world.”
Channel 4 opted to have a machine give the closing statement – which has been previously done by Olympic champion Tom Daley, whistleblower Edward Snowden and a deepfake of the late Queen Elizabeth II – this year to mark the “increasingly prominent role” Artificial Intelligence (AI) has in our world.
Ian Katz, the channel’s Chief Content Officer, said: “As we look to a future in which Artificial Intelligence is set to have an increasingly prominent role in our lives, Ameca’s Alternative Christmas Message is a vivid illustration of both the power and limitations of this technology.
“Despite Ameca’s remarkably lifelike facial expressions, I suspect most viewers will come away reassured that humans are not about to be displaced by AI robots any time soon.”

Paralympian Stef Reid wants to be first ‘bionic’ Gladiators star

OHMYGOSSIP — Paralympian Stef Reid wants to be first “bionic” ‘Gladiators’ star.
The long jump world champion has applied to take part in the BBC reboot of the 90s Saturday night classic in an attempt to compete under the alias of Blade – a reference to her prosthetic running leg – to fulfil a childhood dream.
The 38-year-old star told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “I had three ambitions growing up — winning an Olympic medal, starring in a movie and, lastly, being a Gladiator, which is the only one I’ve yet to achieve.
“I was a huge fan of the show as it was one of the rare occasions you could see both male and female athletes competing on the same stage.
“And I was also in awe of the women because they were strong and athletic with muscles. They were a real inspiration.”
Stef – who appeared in ‘The Energy Within’, a 2017 flick about a leg amputee becoming a runner – revealed she was willing to showcase her talent to achieve and inspire others on the show.
She said: “I don’t know how I will fare, that’s the curiosity. It will be hard and exposing for me, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I do have great physical gifting and I’m very fast, plus it would be brilliant for anyone suffering with self-doubt to see me out there competing.
“It would show people anything is possible.”
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant deemed her moniker for the show – which will be hosted by the father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh – was a very matter-of-fact choice, calling it “straight to the point”.
Stef – who took home a silver medal at London 2012 – said: “Blade is straight to the point, isn’t it, so why not?”

Jeff Brazier confirms split from wife Kate Dwyer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Brazier has split from his wife Kate Dwyer.
The 43-year-old TV personality has confirmed via Instagram that he’s split from his wife after nine years together.
Jeff – who has sons Bobby, 19, and Freddie, 18, from his relationship with Jade Goody – said on the photo-sharing platform: “I have so much to be grateful for and I appreciate facing the lessons I need to grow but this year has been challenging to say the least.
“My nine-year relationship ended earlier in the year and I’ve been working through that on top of supporting someone close to me who is going through something difficult.
“The boys and I have recently moved home to a new area and I spend most of the time alone as the boys obviously have their own things going on.
“It’s been constant change this year and I’m good with adapting but the combination of things have left me low at times.
“I’ve honestly never felt loneliness like it. Can we put Christmas back a few months?! (sic)”
Jeff explained that he’s now having to adjust to being single.
The TV star said: “I have to plug myself back in to the friendships that have supported me, surviving 14 years of my focus laying elsewhere.
“I know there are many of us out there that find it easier to support than be supported but here’s to a better balance of the two in 2023, we need it and deserve it.”
Meanwhile, Jeff claimed in 2020 that his marriage was stronger than ever after the couple endured a difficult time before the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said: “We are stronger for the two months that we’ve spent together with time to just focus on one another. Kate and I have had an opportunity to press pause and reset.”

Davina McCall: The Masked Singer makes me cry

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall cries at ‘The Masked Singer.’
The 55-year-old star has served as a judge ITV competition – which sees celebrities dress up in in whacky costumes in an attempt to conceal their identity as they sing – and admitted that she gets teary on set.
Speaking ahead of the launch of the new series, she said: “I cry. Absolutely. Jellyfish is an extraordinary performer and has made us all feel very emotional. Rhino, as well, has been particularly emotive. It’s lucky for Rhino that they can pull some emotion out of the bag, because it’s hard in that costume to give us anything!”
The former ‘Big Brother’ host – who sits on the judging panel of ‘The Masked Singer’ alongside fellow TV star Jonathan Ross, comedian Mo Gilligan and pop singer Rita Ora – went on to add that the mystery celebrity behind the Rhino costume is “so sweet” ahead of the series premiere on New Years Day 2023.
She added: “They are massive and they are quite humble. They keep putting their little hooves together – it looks so sweet!”
The new series of ‘The Masked Singer’ – which last year was won by ‘Torn’ hitmaker Natalie Imbruglia after successfully battling her way through the show dressed as Panda – will feature a string of other stars dressed as Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rubbish, Ghost, Jellyfish, Knitting, Otter , Phoeniz and a duo named Cat and Mouse and Rita teased that this year some of the lineup are making it harder for the panel to suss them out by masking their voices.
She is quoted by The Daily Star newspaper as saying: “Actors and performers are doing that more this series. I don’t know if that’s a great strategy for the singers because I don’t know how long you’ll last if you’re doing that when you belt out a big number. But for the actors and the ones who are not technically singers, they’re doing all these other things that I think are going to keep them in the competition.

Joanna Page would ‘never’ do I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Page would “never” go on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 45-year-old actress is best known for starring alongside Mathew Horne in the sitcom ‘Gavin and Stacey’ but explained that she could never take part in the ITV jungle reality show – which sees famous faces endure life in the Australian jungle for three weeks – even though she would “love” to have a go on Channel 4’s ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ and is enjoying new BBC One game show ‘The Traitors.’
She said: “If they ever brought back ‘Survivor,’ I would love to do that. And I’m loving ‘The Traitors’ at the moment. What I love is the trials that you’ve got to do. Though I could never do ‘I’m A Celeb’, with eating the guts and all of that. I’d also like to have a go at ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’. I think I’d have the mental ability and determination to get to the end.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Masked Dancer’ star added that it would be “lovely” to return to her role as Stacey on the BBC sitcom – which initially aired from 2007 until 2010 and returned for a one-off special over Christmas in 2019 – but admitted that she has “no idea” if it will ever happen.
Asked if there will ever be another festive edition of the show, she told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “Well, I don’t know, because they never tell us anything at all. But, oh my gosh, it would be lovely to do.”

The Apprentice contestants faced with sex ban

OHMYGOSSIP — New contestants of ‘The Apprentice’ have had to agree to a sex ban.
The BBC reality show – which sees business magnate Lord Alan Sugar search for a promising candidate to work with – has reportedly insisted new hopefuls sign a contract that includes a clause that prohibits “any intimate physical contact and/or sexual activity” between contestants or members of the crew.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: “The focus of the show is getting Lord Sugar to be your business partner, not finding your life partner!”‘
In 2017, series winner James White – who secured a £250,000 investment deal from Lord Sugar – struck up a relationship with fellow contestant Jade English, while castmates Harrison Jones and Michaela Wain also coupled up and had a baby in 2018.
Last week, Lord Alan Sugar – who founded electronics company Amstrad in 1968 and now has an estimated fortune of £1.21bn – revealed that had the show been around when he was a teenager, he would have won.
He said: “I was 16 or 17 when I started, and if ‘The Apprentice’ was around then, I would have won it!”
‘The Apprentice’ officially began on BBC Two in 2005, and filming for series 17 has wrapped ahead of a 2023 return.
But Lord Sugar admits he had no real vision for the show.
He said: “I had no vision for the show. The original was formed in
America where Donald Trump was the equivalent of what I do. He was useless, to be honest with you.
“The BBC wanted to find a businessman to replicate it and I thought it was exciting.”
‘The Apprentice’ will return to screens on January 5 2023.

Finn Wolfhard was frustrated by voice acting before Pinocchio

OHMYGOSSIP — Finn Wolfhard found voice acting “frustrating” before starring in ‘Pinocchio’.
The 19-year-old star lends his voice to the role of Candlewick in Guillermo del Toro’s stop-motion take on the classic story but was able to avoid his usual frustration by working together with Gregory Mann – who voices Pinocchio.
Finn told Screen Rant: “I had such a good time doing this movie, especially because I actually got to work in a booth with Gregory for one of the scenes. That just helps so much, because you get to bounce off someone.
“Usually, when it comes to voice acting, I get really frustrated because it’s a very hard thing to do. Some people are just so good at it, (but) I’ve always been very in my head because I feel like I work best when I’m around or bouncing off other people or whatever.
“When it’s just you in the booth, you’re kind of like, ‘Oh, God…’ But Mark (Gustafson) and Guillermo are so good at relaxing me. Yeah, they’re great.”
The new movie has darker themes than the 1940 Disney version and Guillermo doesn’t want it to be considered as a film for children.
He said: “People ask us if it is for kids (and) we say, ‘It’s not made for kids but kids can watch it if their parents talk to them.’
“It’s not a babysitter movie, it’s a movie that will have kids ask questions.”
The movie is set in Italy when the country was ruled by Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini and Guillermo said that the time period was deliberately chosen so he could explore the theme of “obedience”.
The ‘Mimic’ director said: “Obedience to me is where you are told to follow something whether, on a religious level or social level, that you don’t understand, that is a big mistake. Disobedience with consciousness is always the beginning of thought, of soul and self.
“When I was a practicing Catholic, not lapsed as I am now, I used to think about where the human soul lies – it lies in the freedom of choice. The choice is to be human.”

Antonio Banderas in the dark about possible new Shrek film

OHMYGOSSIP — Antonio Banderas knows nothing about a new ‘Shrek’ movie.
The 62-year-old actor reprises his role as the voice of Puss in Boots in the new spin-off film ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ but is unsure if Shrek will return to the big screen as Puss hints at a meeting with the ogre in the picture.
In an interview with Collider, Antonio said of the possibility of a new Shrek flick: “No, officially, no, no. Nobody has said anything to me.
“I was the first one who was surprised when at the end of this movie, we saw this wink of an eye that the studio just threw there, with Far, Far Away. And so I don’t know, I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but certainly, if I knew something, I will say it. But no, none officially.”
It is the first ‘Puss in Boots’ film for over a decade and Antonio confessed that he doubted at some points if the movie would ever be made.
The ‘Evita’ star said: “At some point, yeah. At some point in which I lost contact for maybe a couple of years, but I knew that the studio operated big changes, because it moved to another studio, actually, to Universal. And at the same time, the pandemic came on, so there was a number of things that were going on at the same time.”
Banderas continued: “So I got in contact with them eventually, but yeah, there was a period of time of maybe not two years, but a year-and-a-half, something like that, in which I didn’t receive any news.
“At that point, I thought, ‘Oh well, maybe they’re just rethinking’, because this new panorama that they had in front of them, they are thinking, ‘It’s something completely new.’ They didn’t want to revisit things that they have done in the past, something like that. So yes, at some point, I thought about it, but then here we are.”

Marcus Luther and Mica Ven quit Gogglebox

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gogglebox’ stars Marcus Luther and Mica Ven have quit the show.
The couple – who have starred on the Channel 4 programme for the last five years – have announced that they’re walking away from ‘Gogglebox’, explaining that they intend to see “what else God has in store” for them.
They said in a statement: “We’ve had so much fun with you all tuning in at home and the hardworking ‘Gogglebox’ crew’s but it’s time to put down the remote and see what else God has in store for us.”
Marcus and Mica have also thanked fans of the show for their support.
They said: “To everyone that has tuned in and sent us messages of love and encouragement over the years, we appreciate every last one of you. Thank you so much.”
Some of Marcus and Mica’s co-stars have already sent their best wishes to the couple.
Twaine Plummer simply said: “All the best in the future.”
Elsewhere, Izzi Warner admitted to being sorry to see them leave the show.
Izzi said: “We’ll miss you both.”
Marcus and Mica have become firm favourites with ‘Gogglebox’ viewers over recent years.
But Marcus previously claimed that he hates being recognised by members of the public.
He explained: “I avoid being recognised like the plague. I’ll have my mask and a hat on and people will still say, ‘Look at the eyes, it’s Marcus from ‘Gogglebox’!’ And I’m like, ‘For f***’s sake!'”
Meanwhile, Mica jokingly compared herself to the Kardashian sisters.
Discussing her experience of fame, Mica said: “If I cover my locks, I get recognised less. The locks are a giveaway. I don’t think I’ll ever get properly used to it.
“Sometimes, I feel like one of the Kardashians.”

Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold on reshoots and alternate endings

OHMYGOSSIP — James Mangold has insisted ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ hasn’t undergone any reshoots.
The 59-year-old director – who will be at the helm of the fifth film in the long running action adventure franchise – has spoken out to dismiss reports that Harrison Ford’s new movie has been subject to new scenes and alternate endings.
He tweeted: “So I took a b-day break from trolls. But it seems I gotta once again say.. We’re not shooting [and] never shot any new scenes or “alt endings”.
“Our film is [99 percent] finished, getting rated by MPAA [and] VFX being completed. Happy Holidays!”
When a follower tried to argue and insisted all Disney films “are filmed as some kind of scrapbook with alternative scenes”, the filmmaker shut down the notion.
He responded: “It is so kind of you to call me bulls*** but I made Logan and Ford v Ferrari and Indiana Jones 5 and it didn’t happen on any of them.
“I can only speak to my experiences. Be Well.”
He revealed the confusion came from composer John Williams, who was apparently “mistaken” when he talked about reshooting and rescoring the ending.
And when another follower wondered if the film was “ahead of schedule” given it’s almost done with over six months until its worldwide release, Mangold was quick to clarify.
He wrote: “6 months to WW release. But our post schedule is over in weeks. We don’t always keep working till the release date… I’m starting to dig into my next film.”
This comes after he also rejected claims from “trolls” suggesting that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was joining the cast to take over as Indiana Jones from Ford.
Mangold said: “One more time. No one is ‘taking over’ or replacing Indy or donning his hat, nor is he being ‘erased’ through some contrivance. And he never was, not in any cut or script — but trolls will troll.”

James Gunn responds to ‘uproarious and unkind’ backlash over Henry Cavill’s Superman exit

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn has addressed the “uproarious and unkind” backlash to Henry Cavill’s departure as Superman.
The ‘Man of Steel’ actor revealed last week he wouldn’t be returning as the iconic character despite appearing in the post-credits scene for ‘Black Adam’ and subsequently announcing his comeback to the role.
On behalf of himself and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, Gunn tweeted on Monday (19.12.22): “One of the things Peter [and] I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC Studios was a certain minority of people online that could be, well, uproarious [and] unkind, to say the least.
“Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story [and] best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years.
“Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts [and] integrity [and] always with the story in mind.
“No one loves to be harassed or called names – but, to be frank, we’ve been through significantly worse. Disrespectful outcry will never, ever affect our actions.”
He admitted the pair knew they would face some “turbulence” after taking charge of DC’s movie and TV output, but they were willing to accept that as they strive to do their best for the studio.
He continued: “We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, [and] we knew we would sometimes have to make difficult [and] not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us.
“But this means little to us in comparison to our jobs as artists [and] custodians in helping to create a wide [and] wonderful future for DC.”
Gunn didn’t name Cavill or Superman, but his tweets come after fierce backlash over the move.
Explaining the decision last week, he explained: “Peter [and] I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year.
“Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.
“But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

Luca Bish cuts family holiday short after home is broken into

OHMYGOSSIP — Luca Bish had to cut a family holiday short after his house was broken into.
The former ‘Love Island’ star was left feeling “violated” after thieves struck while he was in Switzerland with his relatives.
He wrote on Instagram: “Thank you to all of you who asked how Switzerland was – it was lovely, much needed quality family time which we haven’t done in years.
“With that being said, sadly the holiday was cut short. Going into the public eye comes with so many positives, and I want to be able to share my day to day without the fear or assumption that there are people watching with ill intentions.
“Last night, my family home was broken into
“Materialistic things can be replaced, however, my family fearing being in our home and knowing you’ve been violated in such a way is a feeling you can never describe.”
Luca revealed the matter is being dealt with by the police, and he urged others to “keep safe”.
He added: “Fortunately we have high security throughout the home, so everything is now with the police.
“Be careful this time of the year and keep safe.”
It comes just over a month after he and fellow former ‘Love Island’ star Gemma Owen split up, three months after they found love on the ITV2 show.
She wrote on Instagram: “To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now.
“Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start our new chapters.”
Meanwhile, Luca suggested he hadn’t wanted the news to be made public yet.
He wrote on his own Instagram Story: “Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup.
“I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know, sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.
“We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after ‘Love Island’.
“We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.”

Alexandra Mardell ‘nervous’ about Strictly Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Mardell feels “nervous” about the ‘Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress is joining forces with professional dancer Kai Widdrington for the festive edition of the BBC Latin and ballroom show, and the star has been embracing the “fun” of the competition rather than harbouring any serious ambitions to win.
She said: “It’s just fun, I think there’s probably quite a lot of competitive people, but not at this moment, we’re just having fun, it’s Christmas!
“I’ll definitely get nervous because I want to perform well but I’m not like ‘I have to win’.”
Alexandra – who is best known for portraying Emma Brooker in the ITV soap from 2018 to 2022 – admitted taking part in the programme’s Christmas special has helped her to get into the festive spirit this year.
She said: “We’re a really nice group, which is also lovely and it’s definitely got me more into the Christmas spirit, listening to the Christmas songs every day.”
Kai admitted Alexandra has been a “joy to work with” in the rehearsal room.
He said: “Alexandra is a joy to work with, it’s just so easy because when someone comes into the rehearsal room with such positivity every day, even though it’s only been a brief about of time, it’s just been a real pleasure.
“We have a nice, fun, cheeky routine and hopefully have some good quality dancing as well.”
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special’ airs on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Jerry Bruckheimer wants Johnny Depp to return to Pirates of the Caribbean

OHMYGOSSIP — Jerry Bruckheimer would “love” Johnny Depp to return to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.
The 59-year-old actor portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow in five movies in the swashbuckler series and Jerry hopes that he is able to reprise the part after he won a defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard earlier this year.
However, Bruckheimer says that Disney would have the final say on a potential Depp return.
The 79-year-old producer told The Hollywood Reporter: “You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know.
“I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor, and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.”
Bruckheimer – who has produced blockbusters including ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ and ‘Top Gun’ – also confirmed that the character of Captain Jack Sparrow would never be killed off.
He said: “You can’t. We tried to kill him. It didn’t work.”
Johnny mentioned during the trial that he hoped to say farewell to Jack Sparrow after first playing the role almost 20 years ago.
The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star said: “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were.
“A franchise can only last for so long, and there’s a way to end a franchise like that, and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”
Jerry also provided hope that the proposed ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film featuring Margot Robbie could come to fruition after the actress had claimed that the project was dead in the water.
He said: “It’s alive for me. It’s alive for Disney.
“I’m sure she was disappointed it didn’t go first – or maybe not because she’s very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story.”
