OHMYGOSSIP — Anthea Turner wants to bring back ‘The Perfect Housewife’.
The ex ‘GMTV’ host is keen to reboot the Noughties BBC Three programme that helped homemakers “look after” the domestic sphere, as she believes the “new generation of women” haven’t had anyone to “teach them”.
The 62-year-old television presenter told the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column: “There’s never been a time when people’s homes needed more looking after and we needed perfect housewives back.
“We need to look after our home and clean it up and cook from scratch. We need to get back to all of those basics and save some money.
“I think the problem with this new generation of women is they haven’t had anyone to teach them. It’s not their fault, we sold them the dream and a few practicalities need brushing up on now. So Turner’s here.”
In October, Anthea admitted it was like someone had “invaded” her body when she was perimenopausal.
She said: “I hadn’t a clue what was going on. We need to talk about it – it’s a horrible time.
“You just all of a sudden don’t feel yourself. And I know that sounds such a pathetic thing to say, ‘Oh, I don’t feel myself,’ but you really don’t. You feel like somebody’s invaded your body.
“All your markers are all out by a few degrees. I got spots on my back and I was sweating. I felt my confidence was going. I was getting brain fog, I was questioning myself.
“You want to turn to the person who’s the most important in your life, your husband, and I couldn’t. I’d be going backwards and forwards to Toronto at the time because I was doing a programme out there.”
