Ranvir Singh left sobbing after ITV axe

OHMYGOSSIP — Ranvir Singh was left sobbing in a park after being axed by ITV.
The 45-year-old star – who is now one of the channel’s top stars – revealed she was devastated after leaving the BBC for ITV and then being let go.
She told the ‘Sliding Doors’ podcast: “I had a very secure job with BBC job with a pension and everything.
“I got headhunted to go to ITV. So I give up this whole secure life at the BBC and my friends and my life in Manchester to move to London, essentially, for a contract.
“It was a two-year contract. But I always remember being in the newsroom at the BBC and looking up at the little television and thinking, ‘I want to know what it’s like to be there [on national TV]’.
“‘I’m there, 15 months into the job. The programme gets a whole rebrand and I’m not a part of their plans.
“I found out at 10 o’clock in the morning and by 10.30 am and email had gone out.”
However, an important phone call helped Ranvir on the path to today’s success.
She said: “There’s me crying in a park with my little son and My phone rings and it’s John Stapleton – a long-term ‘GMTV’ presenter.’
“He told me not to complain, carry on turning up and to do my job.”
Ranvir went on to be offered ‘News at Ten’, along with hosting slots on ‘GMB’ and ‘Lorraine’.

Perry Fenwick praises Danielle Harold

OHMYGOSSIP — Perry Fenwick revealed Danielle Harold added a touching line to the ‘EastEnders’ script for their characters’ final goodbye.
Danielle’s Lola tragically died following a battle with brain cancer and she shared a heartbreaking moment with her grandfather Billy before she passed.
Perry told Radio Times: “Danielle put in a line that wasn’t in the scripts. It was when she woke up and she said ‘I love you too, Pops’ and then a little tear came down. That sent me going!
“Danielle added it and it wasn’t in the scripts. That did eventually become Lola’s last words. We were in bits. We had to take a decent break afterwards, after doing some scenes. But Danielle has been fantastic.
“It was hard, because we’ve got a parallel story going on. We’ve got Billy, Honey and Lola – and Perry, Emma [Barton] and Danielle. So a lot of the scenes are very much about her going. OK, it’s not the same as the story, but it’s still tears of sadness.
“It was a tough schedule, but we all committed to it. We ended up calling Danielle ‘Thames Water’, because she could turn on the tears like that!”
Danielle previously admitted she found the scenes difficult, saying: “It was definitely the most difficult thing I’ve ever filmed in my life because, obviously, we haven’t experienced it and so, just to put yourself in that mindset, it was really difficult, and slow your body down and everything. I thought that would be the easy part.”

Loose Women’s Sophie Morgan accuses BA of breaking her wheelchair

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Morgan is “f****** raging” after claiming British Airways broke her wheelchair.
The ‘Loose Women’ contributor – who was paralysed from the chest down after a car crash at the age of 18 – burst into tears after she alleged that airline staff broke her £8,000 wheelchair for a second time following a flight to LA on Saturday (10.06.23).
She fumed on Instagram: “‘British Airways have broken my Batec [battery-powered attachment]. I arrived at the airport and it was working.
“Now I’m reunited with it off the back of the plane and it’s not working.”
“[The wheelchair has] some kind of electrical fault, it’s not connecting when I turn the key and so what does that tell you? It’s been manhandled.
“I honestly don’t think I can actually take much more of this. I was just told to put a complaint in through the website again’.
“Thankfully I know that’s not what I’m meant to do. I’ve had no sleep, I’m absolutely exhausted.
“It’s happened again. British Airways, you have broken my Batec. I’m actually speechless.”
British Airways told MailOnline: “We’re really sorry for our customer’s experience and are in direct contact with her to resolve the issue as we investigate what happened.”
A similar issue happened to Sophie in January.

Jason Gardiner calls for end to ‘toxic’ ITV culture amid Phillip Schofield scandal

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Gardiner was “p***** off” by Phillip Schofield’s response when he quizzed him about his relationship with a ‘This Morning’ colleague.
The 61-year-old presenter resigned from ITV’s flagship daytime show last month after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal relationship” with the unnamed runner, and now his former ‘Dancing On Ice’ co-star has admitted he asked him about the rumours while also sending a heartfelt message of support via a Twitter direct message when Phillip came out as gay in 2020.
Jason told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I went into a bit of a tailspin.
“I said, ‘I know this is a very difficult moment for you and I support you in your decision to come out, but I also feel that I need to ask you about certain rumours that are going around online and are you aware of them?’.”
He claimed Phillip simply replied: “Seriously?”
Jason was infuriated and “uneasy” with the response.
He said: “That was it. It was very dismissive and that made me uneasy because I thought, ‘I’ve reached out to you very authentically’, and it kind of really p***ed me off.”
The 51-year-old choreographer was an original judge on ‘Dancing On Ice’ from 2006 but left in 2019 after feeling “isolated and hung out to dry” when he claimed ITV failed to support him during his feud with contestant Jemma Collins, and he’s blasted the entire network.
He fumed: “ITV has its Be Kind campaign and has made this big push for male mental health — but it’s all bulls**t.
“There was no consideration for my mental health, my well-being, what I was going through.
“The thing that is so distasteful to me is that I worked hard for them, I gave them great shows, and I know that I helped make that show a success.
“I believe this toxic culture will destroy itself. This is opening Pandora’s box, and rightly so.”
Jason is happy to assist KC Jane Mulcahy with her independent investigation into ‘This Morning’ following the scandal surrounding its ousted presenter.
He said: “I would happily talk to her, she can give me a call. The fish rots from the head . . . there’s a lot of toxic people still in control.
“Nobody should have to go through that stuff at work. To be bullied, to be pressured, to be threatened like I was is completely unprofessional and unacceptable…
“I don’t want people to think I’m speaking to you for publicity, I’m very happy in my life now.
“I just want this toxic culture to stop. And there are going to be more casualties if this isn’t properly addressed.
“They can’t just gloss over it any more.”

Alison Hammond to secure golden handcuffs deal with ITV

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond is set to land a lucrative “golden handcuffs” deal with ITV.
Bosses at the network are said to be working on a series of new entertainment projects, including game shows, for the 46-year-old broadcaster because they don’t want to lose her talents to rivals, following speculation her ‘This Morning’ co-star Holly Willoughby could turn her attentions to the BBC in a bid to distance herself from the Phillip Schofield scandal.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “ITV bosses want to cut a new deal with Alison. They are seriously worried about Holly talking to the BBC and fear she could be next.
“She is incredibly popular and is perceived as very honest – which is worth a lot following Phillip’s admission that he lied to everyone.”
Alison will co-host ‘The Great British Bake Off’ with Noel Fielding later this year on Channel 4 but ITV don’t want her getting involved with entertainment programmes on other channels, so are looking to arrange a new contract to tie her into their content.
The source added: “While ‘Bake Off’ is factual, ITV don’t want to see Alison working on entertainment formats with any other channel.
“They want to lock her in, and there has even been talk of a golden handcuffs deal solely for entertainment shows with ITV.
“That kind of deal could see her land a salary worth as much as £500,000 a year – but there currently no plans in place for that.”
It was recently revealed the former ‘Big Brother’ contestant put her house in the West Midlands up for sale on the day Phillip – who has admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a much younger runner – quit ‘The Morning’, fuelling speculation she’s planning to do more than just her usual Fridays on the programme.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The timings are entirely coincidental but are, perhaps, telling. Alison loves that house but wants a fresh start. She’s incredibly in demand.
“It’s looking highly likely she will be asked to do more days a week on ‘This Morning’ – and therefore she will be spending more time in London.”

Jennifer Lawrence ‘totally’ wants Hunger Games return

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence is “totally” open to return to ‘The Hunger Games’.
The 32-year-old actress became a household name after portraying Katniss Everdeen in all four movies in the franchise – which were released between 2012 and 2015 – and she admitted she’d be delighted to ask to reprise the role once again.
Asked about the possibility during a Zoom interview with Variety, she said: “Oh, my God – totally! If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.
“My producing partner just clutched her heart.”
In November, a prequel movie, ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, will be released but Jennifer is not part of the cast.
But the actress can next be seen in ‘No Hard Feelings’ as a 32-year-old Uber driver who is hired by a wealthy couple to seduce their 19-year-old son to help him gain confidence before heading off to college in exchange for a car.
And when her younger co-star, 21-year-old Andrew Barth Feldman was asked if he remembered seeing Jennifer in ‘The Hunger Games’ for the first time, she joked: “You probably weren’t even born.”
But the actor heaped praise on the Oscar-winning star’s performance.
He said: “I was probably about 10 years old. I read the books and then the movies came out and it was a phenomenon. I watched them recently just for fun and I did text [Jennifer] when it was happening.
“Those movies are so good. That whole genre didn’t exist yet. Nor did we know that genre of film incorporate such a huge and truthful and beautiful performance from Jen.”
His co-star quipped: “I can’t believe you could read when you were 10.”

Rob Savage ‘amazed’ by The Boogeyman’s PG-13 status

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Savage feels “amazed” that ‘The Boogeyman’ was awarded PG-13 status.
The director has confessed to being surprised that the supernatural horror film wasn’t given a stricter content rating.
He told Bloody-Disgusting.com: “We ended up pushing in this weird Lovecraftian body horror place that I’m still amazed we got away with in a PG-13 movie.
“But that was our attempt. It was our attempt to honour the story, which ends with some skin-peeling grizzlies; and hint at this cosmic horror beyond what we see on screen.”
Rob also confessed that ‘The Boogeyman’ was unlike any of his previous projects.
The filmmaker – whose previous film credits include ‘Host’ and ‘Dashcam’ – explained: “The parts that I was really having to learn on the job, it was more towards the end of the movie, the action-horror beats.
“I’d never done anything with, I mean, I guess a bit in ‘Dashcam’, but again, it’s like found footage, so it’s a different beast. But that kind of more physical aspect of the creature, especially when it’s an entirely CG creation like our monster was. Wrestling with this thing.
“We had a 3D-printed creature head that I had on a stick, like a pantomime horse, and I’d be running at the actors screaming.”
Rob wasn’t entirely sure whether the movie would turn out to be a success or not.
However, the director admitted to doing his “homework” before the cameras started rolling.
He said: “I was shooting all the angles, and I’d story-boarded the whole thing, but it’s very hard to know if that’s going to come together until you see it with the creature.
“But the stuff that was useful was the first two-thirds of this movie; I looked at it more as a haunted house movie. I wanted to not see very much of this creature.
“I wanted you to feel very unsafe anytime there was darkness in the frame or a doorway, and a lot of that was playing in the same ballpark as ‘Host’. So, I felt like I’d done my homework there.”

Cynthia Erivo ‘endlessly grateful’ for Wicked role

OHMYGOSSIP — Cynthia Erivo is “endlessly grateful” for her role in ‘Wicked’.
The 36-year-old actress is currently filming Jon M. Chu’s two-part adaptation of the hit musical and she told fans she’s found it hard to express how she feels about portraying “this beautifully complex being that is Elphaba”, but revealed she has been reduced to tears on a number of occasions because she feels “proud” about what her character represents.
Sharing a photo of her hand sporting long green nails on top of a script for the second installment of the story, she wrote on Instagram: “I realize I’ve said very little about my experience on Wicked and that’s mainly because I’ve been keeping my head down and mining this beautifully complex being that is Elphaba, and it’s really hard to put into words.
“It is day 111 and yesterday we finished filming ‘I’m Not That Girl’ when we had come to the end of that moment, my heart broke open and tears fell. (Please know this happens OFTEN).
“I thought of us, the ones who often feel like they’re on the outside. The ones who don’t know that their differences, oddities, quirks are what make them beautiful and special. The ones who, for some reason, believe they can’t be loved and I felt proud to sing a song that might speak to those feelings.
“I am endlessly grateful to play a role that turns the notion of what beauty is on its head, I am endlessly grateful to be working with some of the most beautiful souls on the planet and I’m already grieving for the day our little bubble must come to an end.(sic)”
Cynthia hopes viewers of the movies will find a “little spark of light” that encourages them to find happiness, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
Referring to co-stars Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande, she added: “I desperately hope that when you finally see this film, you’ll see you, you’ll see me, you’ll see Jon and Ari and our hearts laid bare, you’ll see pain and joy and maybe just maybe you’ll see a little spark of light that says, you are who you are for a reason and you are deserving of happiness and even though sometimes it might be hard to find, it is there for the taking.
“I hope all the bumps and scrapes and scars that you’ve picked up along the way, get a little healing when you finally relax in a theater with a snack a drink and hopefully, friends you bring or friends you find when you’re there.(sic)”

Josie Gibson in talks for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Josie Gibson is set to take part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter – who shot to fame when she won ‘Big Brother’ in 2010 – is said to be in advanced talks for a £100,000 fee to head to Australia to take part in the tough jungle challenge, and is hoping an appearance on the reality show will help her “land bigger gigs”.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “’I’m A Celeb’ producers have begun negotiations with Josie’s team to try and lure her with a £100,000 contract. Talks are at an advanced stage.
“Josie has been a fan of the series for many years and is interested and looking at the bigger picture of her TV career.
“The stint could propel her into the mainstream and land her bigger gigs.”
Josie – who joined ‘This Morning’ as competitions announcer and roving reporter in 2019 before becoming a fill-in presenter two years later – previously admitted she thought she’d struggle with Bushtucker Trials on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’
She said last year: “I’m a bit of a weakling.”
The 38-year-old star admitted she always feels nervous on ‘This Morning’ but she loves being part of the show.
She said: “I get nervous all the time! Even when I’m doing the competitions, everything! It’s literally the best.
“It’s brilliant – absolutely brilliant. I get to do a bit of everything, like competitions, I get to go out and about, and now and again I get to dip my toe in and sit on the sofa. Its just perfect, lovely.
“I think if you don’t get nervous before live television … I like the buzz of it, I still get the buzz! But still get completely nervous though.”
ITV played down speculation about her heading Down Under.
A spokesperson said: “Any names suggested for ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ are speculation.”

Priya Davdra wanted for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Priya Davdra is being lined up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress – who left Albert Square last year after three years playing Iqra Ahmed, the soap’s first Muslim lesbian – is seen as a “great fit” for the show so the 36-year-old star is at the top of casting bosses’ wish list for the upcoming series.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Priya was singled out as a target for the casting team early in the process and they were keen. She is young, glamorous and would be a great fit for the show.”
If she does sign up, Priya could go head-to-head against Bobby Brazier, who plays Freddie Slater in ‘EastEnders’, because it was previously revealed the 20-year-old star – who is the son of Jeff Brazier and the late Jade Goody – was also in talks for the show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bobby is the dream signing for ‘Strictly’ — he’s a young heart-throb who comes with a huge fanbase.
“He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade.
“There’s a few last-minute details to sort but the talks are in final stages.”
Meanwhile, Priya recently insisted she wouldn’t rule out a return to ‘EastEnders’ one day in the future because she’s very proud of what her character represented.
She told The Sun newspaper : “I’m not dead. There’s always scope to come back.
“I think Iqra was the first gay Muslim on the show, ‘EastEnders’ has such a big platform.
“I think it was a very important storyline and it made a huge impact because sometimes things like this are a bit taboo to talk about but I feel like this opened up conversations and raised a lot more awareness.”

EastEnders’ Shane Richie hints at Alfie Moon and Linda Carter romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Shane Richie has teased that his ‘EastEnders’ alter-ego Alfie Moon and Linda Carter’s friendship could turn romantic.
The hopeless romantic and the Queen Vic barmaid played by Kellie Bright, 46, have an unbreakable bond that has strengthened since the tragic death of her husband Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), and Shane, 59, has suggested they could become more than pals.
He told RadioTimes.com: “Alfie’s no longer in The Vic now, it’s interesting, that whole relationship between Alfie and Linda kind of took us by surprise – the audience reaction was real positive. And though we never played it, there was never ever talk with the producers or writers that there was going to be a relationship.”
He then teased: “The general public, the fans of the show, kind of went ‘Yeah, there’s something there’ so maybe, just maybe, something may happen this year, maybe next year. But there’s talk of maybe Alfie and Linda.”
However, Shane also suggested Alfie’s ex-wife Kat, who is now with ‘EastEnders’ legend Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), could rekindle their romance.
He said: “There’s always talk of Kat and Alfie. We’re like the [Richard] Burton and [Elizabeth] Taylor of the soaps, aren’t we? But at the moment, I’m really enjoying Alfie being single.
“There’s a bromance with Alfie and Freddie; he’s become like what Spencer [Moon, played by Christopher Parker] was back in the day – so I’m enjoying playing that at the moment.”
Shane’s comments come after Kellie ruled out a romance between the pair.
She told the outlet: “I think it is really strong and important to see a platonic relationship between a man and a woman.”

Directing Flamin’ Hot was super empowering, says Eva Longoria

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria found directing ‘Flamin’ Hot’ to be a “super empowering” experience.
The 48-year-old star feels proud to have helmed the new biopic, which is based on the story of Richard Montanez, a former janitor who claims to have invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Discussing her experience of directing the film, Eva told The New Yorker: “It was super empowering and scary at the same time.
“I think you can’t expand and grow unless you’re in awkward situations, unless you’re in situations that scare you. I was prepared for it. I was like, ‘Oh, I’m so nervous about making the right decision.’ But I was confident in my vision. And so it was this balance, every day, this heartbeat in my throat, and a little bit of faking it till you make it.”
Eva felt compelled to make the movie after reading about the film’s central character.
The actress-turned-director – who was born in Texas to Mexican parents – explained: “My agent sent me the script and I read it and I was, like, ‘He’s Mexican American? I’m Mexican American! How do I not know the story? Everybody should know the story – it’s an amazing story!’
“So I thought he looked like a hero in a corporate American environment where you don’t usually see brown people. And so I was, like, ‘Oh, gosh, this is a story we should all know. And this is a story I have to tell.’ And then I fought to get the job to direct it.
“My agent was, like, ‘You’ll never get this, but you should try because I think it’s right up your alley.’ And it was, it was!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Hartnett thinks Christopher Nolan is a “genius” filmmaker.
The 44-year-old actor has relished the experience of working with the acclaimed director on his new biographical thriller movie ‘Oppenheimer’, having previously rejected the chance to work with him on the Batman franchise.
Josh – who stars in the film alongside Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Matt Damon – told The Independent: “The thing about genius filmmakers is that they’re always gonna be around, so I hoped at one point that we’d work together. And, look, here we are.
“I feel really lucky that he still saw me as somebody he wanted to work with all these years later. I’m a big believer in things working out when they’re supposed to.”
Josh has also been impressed by how Christopher approaches his work.
He shared: “Chris has certain rules: no one’s allowed a cell phone. No one comes in late. No one has an assistant. Everyone’s there as equals.”
By contrast, Josh previously rejected the chance to play Batman in Christopher’s most famous film franchise.
The actor explained that he wanted his career to go in a different direction at the time.
Josh – whose film credits include ‘Pearl Harbor’ and ‘Black Hawk Down’ – said: “So here’s what happened. Warner Bros wanted me to do one of their superhero films.
“Chris Nolan was directing one of their superhero films. I met him. I talked to him about it. It wasn’t something that was interesting to me at the time. I was on a different path to a lot of actors.”

I’m terrible at games and quiz shows, says Gary Lineker

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Lineker is “terrible” at games and quizzes.
The 62-year-old star hosts the ITV quiz show ‘Sitting on a Fortune’ – but Gary admits that it hasn’t helped his own skills at all.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I’m terrible at games and quizzes.
“The answer is always on the tip of my tongue. I can never remember names!
“It’s a one-off for me to do this kind of show. I’d never thought about doing something like this before but I love doing it.
“It’s a lovely feeling changing someone’s life. Really often the contestants just want to help someone in their family, their mum or their children, with the money.”
Gary is now keen to host a celebrity version of the show.
The TV presenter – who also hosts ‘Match of the Day’ – said: “I think it’s a possibility for us to do a full series with celebrities
“I think the cash has to go to charity … I don’t think the celebrities can get away with that one!
“I’m really pleased with how ‘Sitting on a Fortune’ has been received. The figures have been good and the feedback’s been excellent.
“Hopefully we can just do lots of series and give lots of people lots of money.
“I really enjoy it because it’s a totally different skill to all the other things I’ve done.”
Meanwhile, Gary recently revealed that he has “a lot of fun” with the show’s contestants.
The former sports star admitted that he relished the challenge of hosting ‘Sitting on a Fortune’.
Asked how he felt to be returning for a second series, Gary said: “It feels great to be hosting again. It’s so different to my usual football duties and variety is the spice of life, isn’t it? We have a lot of fun with the contestants – there are always lots of jokes flying about and who doesn’t enjoy a good old quiz?”

Gladiators stars ‘slapped with a sex ban’

OHMYGOSSIP — The stars of the ‘Gladiators’ reboot have reportedly been slapped with a sex ban.
The BBC is reviving the iconic TV show, and they’ve already warned the new set of stars that they need to be on their best behaviour.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The Gladiators have all universally agreed to keep things PG.
“They’re professional sportspeople, many from Olympic or league level sports, so they’re treating the show like any other competition – pure professionalism, eating, training and sleeping right – which means no sex and no booze.”
The long-awaited reboot has already started filming, and there’s said to be lots of “flirty banter and sexual tension” between the stars backstage.
The insider shared: “Many grew up watching the original so being among the new breed of Gladiators is a big deal personally and professionally.
“But of course they’re all fit, gorgeous, and spending a lot of time wearing tiny Lycra costumes.
“The amount of flirty banter and sexual tension backstage is ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, Bradley Walsh and his son Barney are set to co-host the reboot.
The TV star’s wife, Donna, previously served as the head choreographer for the ‘Gladiator’ cheerleaders on the original series, and Bradley can’t wait to be a part of the reboot.
Bradley, 63 – who also presents the ITV quiz show ‘The Chase’ – previously said: “I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show. I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of ‘Gladiators’.
“Saturday night family entertainment at its best.”
