Nothing will stop me from dancing, says Karen Hauer

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Hauer will never stop dancing – even if she has “two broken knees”.
The 41-year-old star was forced out of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ final last year after suffering a serious knee injury, but Karen has now recovered from her injury and is already looking forward to the new series of the BBC show.
She told The Sun newspaper: “It really shocked me and really shook me up. With my knee injury I had a lot of physio and had a lot of digging to do.
“My knee is really good now, it’s just my back now.
“It took me out for two months and that for me was catastrophic.
“It was one of the scariest things that I’ve ever had to go through and the one thing that I didn’t want to get was surgery.
“Having that injury and not being able to be on the dancefloor, I took it as a reset.”
Karen is very aware of the threat posed by injuries. However, the ‘Strictly’ star insists nothing will stop her from dancing.
She shared: “Not that I live in that fear but it’s always in the back of my head.
“But I would never retire from dancing – if I have two broken knees I would still go on the dancefloor.”
Karen has made a successful recovery from her knee injury and is now looking forward to the new series of ‘Strictly’.
She said: “I am super excited to be returning – it will be my 12th year, I am the longest running female.
“I have no idea how that happened, it’s really incredible and I feel really lucky and grateful that they always ask me back which is nice, it’s my favourite time of the year.”

Baga Chipz dreams of joining Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Baga Chipz dreams of joining the ‘Coronation Street’ cast.
The 33-year-old drag queen – who is best known for starring on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ – has revealed that she’d “love” to appear on the long-running soap.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “If I could do any show in the world it would be ‘Coronation Street’, I would love to do it.
“They’ve got a drag queen in ‘EastEnders’. I’d be really northern and just come out the car with my heels and take a drag of a cigarette.
“I’d be like the proper rough guy who does drag at night and work behind the bar with my wig on sometimes. I’d love to do that.”
The TV star has previously bragged about her “great Deirdre Barlow impression”.
What’s more, she also revealed that her dream is to become a soap star one day, joking that she’s ideally suited to ‘Coronation Street’ because she’s “a northern trollop and common as muck”.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper in 2019, she explained: “I love Corrie and I am always saying, ‘I’d love to get on it.’ I hope they’re watching me. I do impressions of some of the characters on ‘Drag Race’. I’d be ideal. After all, I’m a northern trollop and common as muck.
“Watch out Ken! I’d actually rather be on ‘Corrie’ than in Hollywood. If Lady Gaga and Madonna were in one corner and Fiz and Tyrone in the other, I’d be with Fiz and Tyrone. Let me be the new Queen of Corrie.”

Owen Teague got advice from Andy Serkis for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

OHMYGOSSIP — Owen Teague consulted with his idol Andy Serkis before starring in ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’.
The 24-year-old actor plays chimpanzee Cornelius in the upcoming movie and revealed how he sought the advice of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ actor – who previously featured in the franchise as Caesar – on how to adapt to the challenge of motion capture acting.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Owen said: “Well, we all talked to Andy Serkis. He and I had a meeting, and he was part of why I became an actor. So this was something that I’d been wanting to do my entire life, and it was literally a dream come true to get to do this job and play this character.
“The hardest part about it was just learning how to be in a suit all day and have a camera strapped to your head. But you get used to it after about a week, and I remember Andy being like, ‘You’ll get used to it and you’ll stop worrying about it after the first week.’ And he was absolutely right.”
Owen quickly got used to the performance capture work and admitted that he considered it to be “freeing” compared to the traditional art form.
The ‘It’ star said: “The rest of motion capture is just what you would do otherwise, and the difference between a human and whatever you’re playing just becomes a costume, so you don’t even really think about it that much.
“It’s just acting and it’s no different. So I took to it very quickly and very happily, and it’s something that I’d like to do a lot more of. So I hope get to, because I really enjoy it.
“It’s actually freeing. It’s the fun of acting boiled down to the very essence of what it is.”

Michael Shannon left underwhelmed by his role in The Flash

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Shannon wasn’t satisfied with his role in ‘The Flash’.
The 48-year-old star reprises the part of villain General Zod in the new DC Extended Universe (DCEU) blockbuster but felt that he did not get to explore the depth of his character.
Michael – who featured as General Zod in the 2013 movie ‘Man of Steel’ – told Collider: “Yeah. I’m not gonna lie, it wasn’t quite satisfying for me, as an actor. These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures.
“It’s like, ‘Here’s this person. Here’s that person. And they’re fighting!’ It’s not quite the in-depth character study situation that I honestly felt ‘Man of Steel’ was.”
The ‘Knives Out’ star continued: “Whether people think that’s crazy or not, I don’t even care. I really felt like ‘Man of Steel’ was actually a pretty sophisticated story. I feel like ‘The Flash’ is too, but it’s not Zod’s story. I’m basically there to present a challenge.
“It’s pretty crazy. I didn’t ever think I would be an action figure. I never imagined that for myself. I can’t take all the credit because the action figure isn’t me. It’s General Zod. That would be weird, if I actually had my own Michael Shannon action figure.”
The movie has been hit by delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, production setbacks and a multitude of legal troubles for lead star Ezra Miller but Michael thinks that the actor’s performance makes the long wait worth it for fans.
He said: “Honestly to me, it’s all about Ezra. I just think Ezra is a fascinating performer and actor. I can’t wait to see this performance.
“I don’t wanna give anything away, but what Ezra has to do in this movie is pretty crazy, and I think (they’re) up for the task.
“I know a lot of times, with movies like this, people are excited about the big set pieces or the effects, but for me, it’s always about performance. I don’t care whether it’s an Ingmar Bergman film or the ‘Avengers’. It’s always about performance.”

Paige Turley and Finley Tapp ‘remain good friends’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paige Turley and Finley Tapp are “still good friends”.
The 25-year-old TV star has admitted that herself and Finn, 23, simply “drifted apart” after they met each other on ‘Love Island’.
During an appearance on ‘Love Island: After Sun’, she shared: “We’re still really good friends. I think we drifted apart.”
Paige explained that their romance came under pressure amid the COVID-19 lockdown.
She said: “We did lockdown together and any and every struggle we could have faced we were faced with.”
Despite this, Paige would hate to see her ex-boyfriend re-enter the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The blonde beauty – who dated pop star Lewis Capaldi, before entering the villa herself – told Maya Jama: “If he goes in there he will be in trouble – we’re not having an Adam Collard bombshell again.”
By contrast, Paige previously suggested that their romance actually benefited from lockdown.
The reality star explained that lockdown gave them the opportunity to spend some quality time together.
Paige – who was with Finley for three years – told MailOnline: “COVID helped us because we got to spend that time together without being pulled from pillar to post. We had a mad three weeks when we came out before lockdown and the quality time that you spend with each other is quite limited.”
Paige also suggested that she learned an important life lesson through her lockdown experience.
The TV star – who is currently single – said: “I think a good bit of advice is to try and make sure everything that is happening around you doesn’t affect you getting that quality time with whoever you come out with.”

Myleene Klass ‘loved’ wearing her bikini on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Myleene Klass “loved every minute” of wearing her bikini on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 45-year-old TV star famously wore a white string bikini during her first appearance on the show back in 2006, and Myleene feels proud that she was able to recreate the moment during her recent stint in the South African jungle.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I loved every minute of it being in there and wearing the white bikini and the two aren’t usually exclusive – you can still wear a white bikini and enjoy being a woman.”
Myleene’s original white bikini was actually auctioned for £7,500.
Asked if she plans to put her new white bikini on eBay, Myleene replied: “That one is staying with me – I lost the first one.”
Meanwhile, Myleene is now looking forward to hosting Jeremy Vine’s current-affairs show on Channel 5.
The musician has been hired as Jeremy’s temporary replacement, and she’s feeling excited about the opportunity.
She said: “I’m going to be the official host as of the 26th, so it’s going to really ramp up, I’m really excited.
“I think it wasn’t something I had necessarily anticipated but what’s actually happened is you become a mum and then you become more aware of what’s going on in the world and what needs to be done.
“You realise it’s going to take a mum to change it – I’m going to start with this miscarriage bill, so of course I’m more politically incentivised now, I’m waiting for Maria Caulfield to take a meeting with me.
“I will take on the MPs who don’t serve the people who they were voted to serve.”

Jonnie Irwin wants to shelter his kids from his cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonnie Irwin hasn’t told his kids about his cancer diagnosis.
The 49-year-old TV star was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2020, but Jonnie has made a concerted effort to shelter his kids from the news.
Jonnie – who has Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica Holmes – told Hello! magazine: “I keep being asked, ‘Are you going to tell them?’ but tell them what? It would be horrible news that they’d have to get their heads around. And it would confuse the hell out of Rex – he’s got a shocking enough day coming. Let’s bury our heads in the sand for as long as possible.”
Jonnie loves the challenge of fatherhood and he’s determined that his children won’t struggle like he had to during his younger years.
He said: “I encourage the kids, I’m positive about them and give them cuddles. I’ve started to tell Rex in private conversations, ‘You can do anything’. He’s bright, he’s talented, and comes home from nursery knowing more French than I do.
“I had a tough upbringing. And I’ve managed to do a lot in my life, despite that, but I don’t want them to struggle. I want them to have the confidence of a public school boy, but also be streetwise lads. They’re happy kids, they laugh, and are a lot of fun to have around.”
Meanwhile, Jonnie recently admitted he’s very “thankful” that he’s been able to spend quality time with his family over recent months.
The TV presenter told the ‘OneChat’ podcast: “I’ve been home more than ever before and I’m lucky to have seen every bit of their upbringing, and see how they change. That makes me very proud. And I’m kind of thankful for that.”

Holly Hagan says motherhood is ‘the hardest job in the world’

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Hagan has found motherhood to be the “hardest” job in the world.
The ex-‘Geordie Shore’ star has confessed to being struck by “anxiety and blues” after she gave birth to her son, Alpha-Jax, earlier this month.
The 30-year-old TV star wrote on Instagram: “I broke down as we went to bed for the first time with him as I was just so overwhelmed. A million “what ifs” running through my head…
“A mix of anxiety and the baby blues which hit me hard for the first few nights. I felt homesick that’s the only way I can really describe it! Those feelings soon passed and 11 days in now feeling so much less anxiety! (sic)”
Holly has experienced “the odd breakdown” since giving birth to her baby boy. However, the reality star is also loving her experience of motherhood.
Her Instagram post continued: “Still having the odd breakdown every n then with the lack of sleep but I honestly wouldn’t change it, I love being his mam so much. I never understood when people said it’s the hardest but best job in the world… but I get it now. (sic)”
Charlotte Crosby subsequently replied to her former ‘Geordie Shore’ co-star, telling Holly that she feels very “proud” of her.

Melissa Barrera was hit hard by the failure of In The Heights

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Barrera took the failure of ‘In The Heights’ personally.
The 32-year-old actress starred as Vanessa in the 2021 film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway show and confessed that the movie’s disappointing performance at the box office hit her hard.
Melissa told NME: “At the time, I did take it very personally. I don’t anymore. But it was my first big movie, everybody was saying it was going to be this huge hit, and it meant a lot to have a big studio movie with an all-people-of-colour cast.
“The reviews were great, and the movie was fantastic – I’m proud of it – but then it didn’t do well because of Covid and it was released simultaneously on HBO Max when people weren’t going to theatres. There were so many things that were out of my control.”
The ‘Scream’ star says the experience has taught her to realise that she cannot control if audiences will respond to a film and has provided her with a valuable lesson about the industry.
Melissa said: “It wasn’t a great time. But I wouldn’t change it because it taught me a lot about the industry. If it had come out and become this huge hit and I had skyrocketed and become a global superstar, I don’t know if I would understand the industry so well.
“There are so many things that I have no power over, so I learned the valuable lesson that I can’t let that stain or dampen my experience of making a film.
“The only thing that matters is whether I’ve had a good time and I’m proud of what I’ve made, and whether I’ve made lasting relationships out of it.”

Terry Gilliam refuses to change movies to please executives

OHMYGOSSIP — Terry Gilliam has a “conflictual relationship” with the film industry.
The ‘Monty Python’ star has directed movies such as ’12 Monkeys’ and ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ but explained that he often fought with executives to keep his stories intact.
Terry told The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s always been kind of a conflictual relationship. I became known as a bit of a terrorist. I never compromised. I always fought for my stories. Because storytelling is what’s it all about, you don’t f*** with stories.
“But there’s always a moment at the end of every film where the executives, who are basically panicky people being paid a fortune to supposedly know what they’re doing, even though they don’t, where they get nervous.
“Always at the end, they say: ‘Oh, change this or cut this, blah, blah, blah and then it’ll work.’ I always fight that.”
The 82-year-old filmmaker explained that getting the actors on side is the best way to ensure that he wins arguments against film chiefs.
Gilliam said: “The only way I win these arguments is by making sure that the leading actors are on my side. Because I don’t have the power. The stars have the power.
“That’s how I was able to make my movies. The people who put up the money must always believe that you know exactly what you’re doing, even if you don’t have a clue.
“It’s all about make-believe, pretending. I’ll tell you a secret: I seem to be all jolly, a bit of a clown. That’s just make-believe. The truth is, in real life, I am a big jerk.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly Marsh has been reduced to tears on the latest episode of ‘Love Island’.
The 24-year-old reality star was overcome with emotion after Mitchel Taylor called time on their romance and revealed that he planned to get to know some of the other Islanders.
After hearing that Molly also planned to keep her options open, Mitchel told her: “I don’t want to give you the energy I think you deserve, when you’re not going to give me any reciprocation back. I’d rather let you do your thing.
“No one compares to you right now. I’m still gonna adore you, I still think you’re great … I don’t wanna cuddle and all that stuff anymore, I wanna sit back and I want you to explore your options.”
Later in the show, Molly started flirting with Sammy Root.
Molly told him: “I feel like I know you.”
In response, Sammy said: “Maybe we met in a past life, when you were a seagull and I was a chip!”
Molly previously revealed that she couldn’t wait to enter the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The influencer – who is the daughter of actress Janet Marsh – said: “With my job being in social media, I’ve had some amazing opportunities to go on press trips and I’ve actually been out to the ‘Love Island’ villas in Mallorca and South Africa.
“Having the experience to walk around both was amazing, but to now actually live in the villa is going to be incredible.”
What’s more, Molly described the show as the “perfect way to find someone”.
She added: “I don’t go out and party and I don’t use dating apps, I’m actually quite old-fashioned, so there’s no better way to meet someone than by going into a villa in the sun with the potential ‘one’ in there.”

The Purge 6 script is already finished

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Purge 6’ script has already been written.
Franchise creator James DeMonaco has finished the script for the upcoming sixth instalment in the horror franchise – which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year – as Frank Grillo returns as Leo Barnes, while the movie will see how life continues after the collapse of the United States.
Revealing he wrote the script eight months ago, DeMonaco told Variety: “It’s not completely different than previous movies, but it’s a new America that we’re entering into.
“In ‘The Forever Purge,’ America kind of collapsed, and it’s really kind of mapped itself according to different ideologies. The states are based on sexuality, religion and ideology.
“So we’ve broken apart and the state of discord is at its worst. We enter ‘The Purge’ in that world.”
The franchise has sparked five movies and a two-season TV series thus far, and its creator has explained his motivation behind writing the first film.
He said: “I had this little, strange, dark indictment of American gun culture. I hate guns.
“To me, the scariest thing in the world would be a night when everyone was armed and it was legal to use these firearms. To me, there was nothing scarier than that notion.”
However, he feels like people have misunderstood his intention, focusing on what they would do in a real life Purge rather than looking at the horrors of widespread access to guns.
He added: “I think people question what they would do in that situation. But I was hoping to put a mirror up to our own society and our relationship with violence and guns.”
There is currently no release date scheduled for ‘The Purge 6’.

Martin Compston insists Line of Duty return is ‘just a matter of timing’

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Compston has admitted working with the ‘Line of Duty’ cast again is just a matter of “timing”.
The 39-year-old actor is keen to reunite with co-stars Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure and while he hasn’t offered any details on a return for the BBC police corruption drama – which ended with its sixth season almost two years ago – he is hopeful.
He told The Sun newspaper: “We’d all love to work together again but we’re all doing different stuff.
“We’re all running around. It’s just timing, and to get to the same point.”
When it comes to the huge love fans have for the show – and their desire for more – Martin is delighted to see that passion.
He added: “It’s testament to what we created that everybody is still desperate for more. I love that people ask about it. The day people stop, it’ll be a sad day.”
Following ‘Soccer Aid’ this weekend, Martin is set to shoot the second season of Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Rig’, and he would then potentially be free to reprise his role as DS Steve Arnott.
However, Vicky – who plays DI Kate Fleming – will soon be filming another series of ITV drama ‘Trigger Point’, while Adrian (Ted Hastings) could be back for more ‘Ridley’.
Martin explained: “[Creator Jed Mercurio] never stops writing, Vicky’s putting bombs out, Aidan’s a singing detective, I’m off on an oil rig.
“The truth is, we’ve not signed on for anything at the moment. There’s just nothing at the minute. That does not mean it won’t happen.
Just at this point, I genuinely don’t know. But we’ve always taken time off. Probably if this happened 20 years ago, I’d have been more like, ‘Oh, I need to get away from it’. You need to do something else. It’s the thing I’m most known for and I’m incredibly proud of it.”

The show comes from Lifted Entertainment – who were behind the 2015 ‘Love Island’ relaunch – and they are excited by the new project.
Managing Director Richard Cowles said: “At Lifted, we revolutionised the dating format with ‘Love Island’, but dating isn’t just about young people.
“We can’t wait to launch this new dating format in the UK, this time with a very different cast of singles.
“They may come from a different age bracket but they share the same, simple aim, to fall in love. And for single parents the stakes are even higher.”

Oti and Motsi Mabuse ‘sign up to host Every Family Dance Now’

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti and Motsi Mabuse have reportedly signed up to host new show ‘Every Family Dance Now’.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ sisters are said to “love working together” and they are keen for the pilot they have filmed to be commissioned for a full series.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “Oti and Motsi are really hoping the show becomes a big hit because they love working together.”
The programme pits groups of relatives against each other in a series of dancing challenges.
Motsi, 42, and Oti, 32, rose to fame on ‘Strictly’ after their childhood spent living in South Africa and later worked in Germany competing on the dance circuit.
Motsi – who still appears on the show as a judge while her sister is no longer a professional dancer on the show – recently revealed she struggles to understand northern accents despite speaking five languages and gets fellow judge Craig Revel-Horwood to “translate” for some contestants.
She told Ed Gamble, 37, and James Acaster, 38, on their ‘Off Menu’ podcast: “The thing is, you [Britons] all speak differently. Every time I’m in the country I really have to concentrate. Some people I just don’t know … I’m just like, ‘Are we speaking the same language?’ There’s a lot of accents here.
“I really struggle with people that come from the North. I’m like, can you please translate at this point? It’s so strong, I just don’t understand, really. I’m being honest…
“But there have been quite a few people from the north, so I’m always asking Craig. I’m just trying to understand … but it’s not easy.”
Motsi – who still lives in Germany, where she works on their version of the contest – admitted that sometimes she finds it hard with her own accent.
She added: “It’s happened quite a few time. Plus I have that South African accent, so it’s a mess. It’s a complete mess.”

“Hosting ‘Bridge of Lies’, with all its jeopardy, tension and hilarious moments, is one of the most enjoyable parts of my year, so I’m delighted it’s been recommissioned by the BBC and can’t wait to get back filming in Glasgow.”
Gary Chippington, the creative director of entertainment at STV Studios, added: “We are so proud of this show. It’s gone from strength to strength and we were delighted by the reaction to the latest series and celebrity specials from audiences and critics alike.

A special celebrity edition was commissioned and aired with featured competitors like ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ winner Lawrence Chaney.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, the boss of BBC Light Entertainment Commissioning, said: “‘Bridge of Lies’ was a big hit with Daytime audiences, so to bring it back for a third series and commission another primetime version is very exciting.
