Elliot Page cast in Close To You

OHMYGOSSIP — Elliot Page has been cast in “beautiful” new film ‘Close To You’.
The ‘Umbrella Academy’ actor will star opposite Hillary Baack in writer and director Dominic Savage’s new movie, which has finished production in Canada.
The movie will follow Sam (Page) and his chance encounter with an old friend as he returns home for a dreaded family reunion which will force him to confront memories he had tried to bury.
In a statement, Page said: “I’m proud to have worked with Dominic and Hillary on this beautiful film.
“It’s been a pleasure collaborating with them and the incredibly talented cast and crew. I look forward to sharing it with audiences soon.”
Savage added that it was an “honour” to work with the ‘Juno’ star on the film, having conceived and co-authored the story together.
He commented: “It has been a remarkable experience to collaborate with Elliot Page on this very special and unique film about love, identity and family.
“I’m so proud of what we have achieved with the film. It has been an honour to work with Elliot to bring this very poignant, personal and important story to life and to the screen.”
The project is being co-financed by Kindred Spirit, with the company’s Anita Gou and Sami Intili serving as executive producers.
The duo described the movie as a “story about love and belonging”.
They said: “Dominic and Elliot’s story about love and belonging immediately resonated with us when we first heard about ‘Close to You’.
“This film is an act of pure trust and collaboration between the two of them.
“Dominic grants his actors the opportunity to explore their craft in a radical way and we can’t wait for audiences to see the power and vulnerability in Elliot’s performance.”

Mark Addy’s acting concerns: ‘There will be a working class gap’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Addy believes there will be a “working class gap” within acting because people from a “poor background” won’t be able to afford the education.
The 58-year-old star has told how he probably wouldn’t be an actor if he was starting out nowadays because his parents wouldn’t have been able to afford his acting education.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “The local government grant system that used to pay for your education, that is now gone. Certainly people from a poor background can’t afford to go.
“My parents would not have been able to send me to drama school without a grant. So I probably would not be doing this now and nor would Robert [Carlyle].
“There is a whole slew of talent that is not being recognised as financially they are not able to do it.
“I mean, do we want the Eton boys taking on working class roles and pretending to be working class? You had to scrape money together in order to survive but your training as an actor didn’t cost you anything. That has gone now.
“There will be a working class gap now as who can afford to go to drama school?”
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star insisted the situation is “tragic”, and it results in people from “different backgrounds” playing working class characters in TV series and films.
He said: “It is tragic, and it means you have people from a different background playing working class characters.”
Mark is reprising his role as working class character Dave Horsefall in Disney+ TV series ‘The Full Monty’, the follow up to the 1997 film of the same name, in which he starred alongside Robert Carlyle, William Snape, Steve Huison, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Barber and Hugo Speer.
The movie told the story of six unemployed men from Sheffield who formed a male striptease act to raise some money.

David Tennant admits Doctor Who return is ‘last shot’ at the role

OHMYGOSSIP — David Tennant has admitted his ‘Doctor Who’ return is his “last shot” at the iconic role.
The 52-year-old actor has described his upcoming stint in the TARDIS – which will see him reunite with Catherine Tate as his companion Donna Noble as part of the show’s 60th anniversary – as a “victory lap” before he becomes too old to play the Time Lord.
He told the Radio Times magazine: “The specifics of coming back to Doctor Who took a bit of wrangling. But we were always receptive to the notion.
“Initially, it was a casual conversation going ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to do a one-off?’ then [showrunner Russell T Davies] was back running the show and suddenly it could be something bigger…
“But there’s really no pressure. It’s a victory lap, in a way – you get to enjoy something that had meant so much to you, one last shot before you get too old to do it again.”
Russell – who was originally at the helm of the BBC’s sci-fi favourite when it relaunched in 2005 before leaving four years later – is back in charge with David playing the new 14th Doctor, while ‘Sex Education’ star Ncuti Gatwa will then take over the TARDIS as the 15th Doctor.
Reflecting on his own return, Russell previously told ‘Table Manners’ podcast hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware: “It is lovely, I only came back because I had things to do, things I wanted to do and stories I wanted to write.
“It doesn’t feel like I am going back as cliche as it sounds, it feels like I am going forward.”
He pointed to his own lifelong passion for ‘Doctor Who’, and he feels fortunate to still be part of its rich history.
He added: “The fact that I have loved that show my entire life and it is my first memory in life, not my first memory of television but my first memory in life… and remember all those years later it becomes the number one show in Britain it’s like, how lucky am I? Very, very lucky.”

Barbie’s Ryan Gosling had fewer costume options as ‘no one cares about Ken’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling had fewer costume options for ‘Barbie’ because “no one cares about Ken”.
That’s according to ‘Barbie’ costume designer Jacqueline Durran, who admitted Ryan’s doll character Ken had “very, very, many less options” than the titular character.
She told Vogue magazine: “No one cares about Ken, everybody just wants to play with Barbie.
“He matches Barbie and changes too but he has very, very, many less options.”
Durran had just 11 weeks to put all the costumes together for the live-action movie – which stars Margot Robbie as the iconic Mattel doll – and admitted Gosling’s idea of Ken-branded underwear went down so well they hurried to make more.
She said: “We just rushed to make it.”
Durran also told how her department shipped in lots of retro sportswear for Ken.
She added: “Retro sportswear is one area where we did a lot of shopping for Ken.
“He is sporty. That’s his main thing. We had buyers in America that went to dealers and imported it for us because we needed so much of it.”
Gosling recently insisted he laughed off being told he’s “too old” to play Ken in ‘Barbie’.
He told GQ: “I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with.
“It is funny, this kind of clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken. Like you ever thought about Ken before this? And everyone was fine with that, for him to have a job that is nothing. But suddenly, it’s like, ‘No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time.’
“No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never f***** with Ken. That’s the point. If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told.
“I care about this dude now. I’m like his representative. ‘Ken couldn’t show up to receive this award, so I’m here to accept it for him.’ ”

Kerry Katona calls for This Morning ‘revamp’ as she blasts show and Holly Willoughby

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona has blasted ‘This Morning’, claiming the show is “tarnished and tainted” and needs to be revamped.
The 42-year-old star has also hit out at ‘This Morning’ presenter Holly Willoughby, insisting her speech last week about former co-host Phillip Schofield – who stepped down from the show after 20 years after admitting he had an “unwise but not illegal” extramarital affair with a younger male colleague – was “staged, rehearsed, soulless” and an “absolute load of s****”.
Kerry told new! magazine: “They need to revamp the show. It’s tarnished and tainted and it’s s****. All these new relationships with Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson are just not believable.
“I thought Holly’s speech about Phil on This Morning last week was an absolute load of s****.
“It was awful. I felt it was so staged, so rehearsed, so heartless, so soulless. People want realness.”
Kerry insisted she would have “more respect” for Holly – who admitted last week she felt “shaken, troubled, let down and worried” in a speech about Phillip upon her return to ‘This Morning’ – if she quit the brunch-time show and ‘Dancing on Ice’, which Holly co-hosted with Phillip until he recently quit ITV following his affair admission.
She added: “No one believes Holly anymore. I’d have more respect for her if she left ‘This Morning’ and ‘Dancing On Ice’ and said, ‘Do you know what, it’s time for me to walk away.’
“I have nothing against her at all, but as a viewer, I just don’t think it’s working any more. If it was up to me, I’d like Amanda Holden and Rylan to present it.”
Kerry recently claimed she was left “suicidal” after appearing on ‘This Morning’ in 2008, where she appeared to have been slurring her words.
She later explained it was a side effect of the medication she was taking at the time, but was left embroiled in a public feud with host Phillip – which has since been resolved – and last week admitted that her appearance left her so low because there was a lack of “aftercare” from the broadcaster.
Speaking on GB News’ ‘Dan Wootton Tonight’, she said: “I’m not here to jump on the bandwagon and pull Phillip Schofield down, we actually did kiss and make up. When he came out, I sent him a text saying he was very brave so I don’t wanna be a two-faced person, I have moved on from that.
“What I am here to say is that [because of] the culture at ITV and the toxicity, and the aftercare is so lack-of that I was left suicidal. No one reached out to me whatsoever, it was so disgusting!
“When I got home after that interview, it was like a crime scene. There were reporters, camera crews, and paparazzi.
“ITV never once reached out to me and said ‘Kerry, can we help you in any way? Could you just explain to us what bipolar is and what is the medication you’re on?’ Nobody wanted to work with me again and I’ve been very fortunate and lucky enough that I’ve turned my life around.”

Giovanna Fletcher had lucky escape after a nightmare ski fall

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanna Fletcher had a narrow escape after falling down a mountain during a skiing trip.
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner – who is married to McFly singer Tom Fletcher – was on holiday with TV presenter Emma Willis when they tried a proper run after taking it easy on nursery slopes.
Appearing on the ‘Life’s A Beach’ podcast, she recalled “I just started picking up speed. Nothing that I had learned helped.
“I was just like, ‘I can’t do the pizza legs right now. I’m not even zig zagging.’ We were just going so fast.
“I ended up just falling. Emma said I was like a ball of flying arms and legs in a cartoon. I was very winded when I got up.”
The 38-year-old star recently reflected on the importance of stepping back when you’re overwhelmed and actually taking time to relax away from work.
Speaking to HELLO! Magazine’s ‘In A Good Place’ podcast, she said: “I get overwhelmed when work-life tries to find its way into home life. Or if emails come through and I know I’ve got to do something but I’ve got the kids. That is quite overwhelming.
“With work, I like saying yes to a lot of things, but then the actual time to do those things can be a bit tricky sometimes.
“I am getting better… I had a realisation a little while ago that when you’re on holiday, take the time to actually be on holiday; don’t be trying to do all those other things.
“Otherwise, when you get back, you won’t feel like you’ve been away and you’ve had some refreshing time with the family…
“I think it’s important to touch base with yourself and realise when you are feeling overwhelmed.”
Mum of three Giovanna – who has sons Buzz, nine, Buddy, seven, and Max, four, with husband Tom – previously revealed she likes to play drums when she’s home alone after her man’s bandmate Harry Judd taught her how to play.
She said: “I really like playing the drums. I’m not very good. Harry Judd taught me how to play a bit about 15 years ago.
“When none of the kids are in I quite like sitting down and bashing out a rhythm!”

Channel 4 ‘sparing little expense’ with Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins

OHMYGOSSIP — Channel 4 is reportedly “sparing little expense” on the new series of ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The broadcaster has axed the civilian version of the intense military training show but producers are looking to get an all star cast for the celebrity edition with filming this summer shifting from Thailand to New Zealand.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “With the axe falling on the civilian version of SAS, Channel 4 wanted to reaffirm its commitment to the celebrity version.
“So they’re sparing little expense to make it a bumper offering, including extending the series, which started with just five episodes in 2019, to eight.
“It just remains to be seen which famous faces sign up for the show.”
It comes after Channel 4 confirmed it was scrapping the civilian version of ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ after eight series.
The celebrity edition was launched four years later in 2019, and given that it has a bigger audience than the original bosses have decided to prioritise that version.
A spokeswoman said: “Due to the huge success of ‘Celebrity SAS’ we have shifted our focus to prioritise this strand.”
Last year, the show’s former Chief Instructor Ant Middleton was sacked due to “personal conduct”.
And he previously admitted ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ is “a lot softer” since he left.
The 42-year-old army veteran doesn’t tune in to watch his replacement Rudy Reyes on the star-studded Channel 4 military endurance show – which has featured the likes of Katie Price, Ulrika Jonsson, Calum Best, Maisie Smith and Pete Wicks – after the 51-year-old former Marine claimed he was a “misogynist”.
Ant – who denied the claims – told The Sun newspaper: “’SAS’ is a lot softer now. I don’t watch it.
“A lot of celebrities ring me and tell me they’ve been asked to do the show but won’t, partly out of loyalty to me and partly because they say, ‘What would I get out of it? It’s gone soft.’ ”

Kim Woodburn calls for ITV investigation: ‘Some of their shows thrive on bullying’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Woodburn has called for a “full investigation” into ITV, as she claims some of the channel’s shows “thrive on bullying and being unkind”.
The 81-year-old TV personality infamously clashed with her former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ housemate Coleen Nolan during an appearance on ‘Loose Women’ in August 2018.
Kim has now told how the recent controversy surrounding ITV – which comes amid Phillip Schofield departing the channel after admitting to having an affair with a much younger male colleague – has “definitely brought back” the feelings she endured in the wake of her ‘Loose Women’ appearance.
She told new! magazine: “The recent talk of toxicity at ITV has definitely brought back those feelings for me. I’ve been saying it all along and now I feel like I’m finally being proven right.
“ITV needs a full investigation – some of their shows thrive on bullying and being unkind.
“In my opinion, Phillip should have been let go a long time ago, but ITV have allowed this kind of behaviour.”
Kim clashed with Coleen in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house weeks before her ‘Loose Women’ appearance, which ITV say she agreed to “on the understanding it was for a reconciliation with Coleen”.
But now, Kim insists she was “exploited” by ITV in 2018, and claims the channel should “provide a better duty of care”.
She added: “‘Loose Women’ assured me they wanted an interview with me to put things right after ‘Celebrity Big Brother’. Looking back now, I should have known something was wrong.
“ITV reassured me that it wouldn’t be a slagging match but that’s exactly what it was. Any time I’ve been on before there’s always been a live feed of the show in the dressing room – but this time there wasn’t.
“I felt exploited by ITV. I was being mocked. I was being laughed at, and no one intervened to stop it.
“My agent had to ask the head of ‘Loose Women’, ‘Are you going to do anything about it and check on her welfare?’ They then offered their psychologist to talk to me but I wasn’t comfortable talking to a stranger.
“ITV needs to provide a better duty of care. For me, being questioned like that was rubbing salt in the wound. Things should have been left alone.
“ITV lied to me under false pretences for nastiness and TV ratings. I was disgusted with everything.”
ITV said in a statement to the publication: “As we said five years ago, Kim agreed to appear on the show on the understanding it was for a reconciliation with Coleen.
“Kim becoming upset was never the intention and the panel did endeavour to comfort her. Kim was offered and accepted support from ITV following the programme and Ofcom found the programme not to be in breach of the Broadcasting Code.”

Coleen Nolan ‘reunites with Tinder ex Michael Jones’

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan has reportedly reunited with her ex Michael Jones.
The ‘Loose Women’ star revealed last week she is in a relationship again while admitting she has “never been happier”, and now she has confirmed the identity of her mystery man.
An insider told OK! magazine: “They are just taking things slowly, not labelling it, and just seeing what happens.
“Coleen and Michael have been on and off since they broke up last year. In fact, you could say they didn’t completely call it off at all.
“They spoke to each other almost every other day but hadn’t put a label on it. They weren’t officially together as a couple but they were still in each other’s lives.”
The 58-year-old star met Michael on Tinder and they went public with their romance in January 2022 before calling it quits three months later.
However, they look to be back together now and she’s said to be in a great place.
The source added: “Now Coleen has spoken out about her relationship on Loose [Women], it suggests she is ready to admit to herself, and others, that they are official again.
“Coleen has often struggled with her confidence in relationships, but as she said herself, now she has truly opened herself up, she has never been happier. It is lovely to see her feeling this way.”
Last week, Coleen told her fellow ‘Loose Women’ stars that it’s “taken a longer time” to open her heart to her current partner.
She said: “The person I’m with now, it has taken a longer time and it’s my fault.”
She struggled to deal with the romantic side, admitting that she’s “not used to someone loving [her]” the way her partner does.
She added: “I’ve accepted that ‘Oh, so I’m just super romantic and I want everything to be like a film,’ but it’s not.
“And that’s why they don’t hold my hand or they’re not bothered or they don’t pay me compliments, and actually I’ve met someone now that does.”

Zazie Beetz won’t be in Deadpool 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Zazie Beetz has said she will not be in ‘Deadpool 3’.
The 32-year-old actress featured in ‘Deadpool 2’ as the mercenary Domino – who forges a relationship with the wisecracking hero played by Ryan Reynolds – but revealed that she will not be involved in the new installment that is set to be released next year.
Asked on how the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike could impact on Ryan’s constant improvising, Zazie told Decider: “Well I’m actually not in ‘Deadpool 3’, so I don’t know what they’re doing (about improvisation). I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause. I’m excited to watch it.”
Online rumours surfaced last year claiming that Zazie was in talks to reprise her role as Domino and the actress had expressed hope that she would play a part in the blockbuster.
She told Screen Rant: “I am crossing my fingers, hoping that Domino will be a part of this and if not, that’s also all good. But it’s just such a great crew, such a great team.
“I just love ‘Deadpool’. I love Domino so much. If it’s not this, maybe I’ll do my own Domino origins or something like that.”
Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as Logan/Wolverine and Reynolds explained that he was desperate to get the ‘X-Men’ character involved in the Marvel Studios franchise.
He told ET Canada: “We’ve wanted this for decades… it’s weirdly the perfect time.
“I never stopped (trying to get him to come back as Wolverine). I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years.
“I believe in timing, as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet. Timing’s the big one. I think he was ready. I think he was excited.”

Steven Caple Jr. in talks to direct next Transformers movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Caple Jr. is in talks to direct the next ‘Transformers’ movie.
The 35-year-old filmmaker has helmed ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ and confirmed that he has been in discussions with Paramount about getting behind the camera on another film.
Speaking on Deadline’s Crew Call Podcast, Steven said: “I am not officially signed on for the next movie. We’re in the works now, but I’m not officially signed on. I’m in talks.
“I set up a lot of stuff in this film, and with the studio, myself, and the producers, every time we talk about the future, there’s a lot of ‘we’, the word ‘we’. It kind of naturally fell that way. But everything that was planted here was for the future, so yeah. Yeah, we’re in talks.”
The ending of the blockbuster references the other Hasbro movie franchise ‘G.I. Joe’ and Steven would be tempted to work on a possible crossover project.
The ‘Creed II’ director said: “For me, it would be sure. I would love to. I have some ideas of how to branch out that IP in the franchise.
“And if I can do the crossover I want to do, I think we can still feed ‘Transformers’ fans while doing something cool with that other legendary Hasbro property that I loved since I was a kid.
“There are characters and elements that have never been used before, so I’d be thrilled to incorporate them and do something cool.”
Caple Jr. also revealed that he changed the conclusion of the film as its dark nature failed to impress audiences during test screenings.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I personally thought that movie was good; we were still getting pretty good ratings around that, but something was missing. And when I realised there wasn’t an applause or a cheer at the victory, it just felt a little down. So we wanted to see the heroes win… because it just felt a little sad.”

George Fensom exits Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — George Fensom has been dumped from the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 24-year-old business development executive has become the first person to leave the villa, after Whitney Adebayo opted to save Mehdi Edno instead.
Speaking in the beach hut afterwards, Whitney explained: “It is hard but we all knew that somebody had to go.”
George confessed to feeling disappointed about his early exit from the show.
He said: “It’s not how I wanted my experience to end. I just wanted to continue dropping loose game.
“I’m sure there will be somebody out there for me but obviously it wasn’t in the villa.”
Despite this, George confessed to loving his time in the ‘Love Island’ villa.
He shared: “I’ve had an absolute blast, dropping loose game and making everyone laugh.
“The experiences I’ve had, the people I’ve met and the lifelong friendships that I’ve formed have made my villa experience very worthwhile.
“I wish everyone in there the best villa experience and I can’t wait to see them all on the outside.”
Elsewhere, Jess Harding admitted that she’ll always have a “soft spot” for George after they spent time together on the show.
The reality star also hopes that George is able to find the girl of his dreams one day.
Speaking after his exit was confirmed, Jess said: “We started as a couple together so I’ll always have that little soft spot for him … he just lit up every room and I genuinely hope he does find someone.”
Meanwhile, George confessed that they didn’t really have a spark as a couple.
He said: “Jess and I were always cracking banter and having the best time. I just don’t think there was anything there romantically, but that’s completely fair enough.”

Hailee Steinfeld’s Spider-Man journey ‘comes full circle’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailee Steinfeld feels her Spider-Man journey has come “full circle”.
The 26-year-old actress was a big fan of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man during her younger years, and Hailee is now thrilled to have voiced the part of Spider-Woman in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’.
The Hollywood star told HeyUGuys: “Tobey Maguire was sort of my introduction into the world of Spider-Man and it’s so crazy to now be here and be a part of this … see how things have come full circle.”
Hailee – who previously voiced her character in 2018’s ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ – also confessed to recording some of her lines in particularly unusual places.
She shared: “There were multiple occasions when I’d get a last-minute call and they’d be like, ‘Hey, find yourself a closet, record these three lines and then delete all of these messages’.”
Meanwhile, Hailee recently revealed that she’s keen to take herself out of her “comfort zone” in her professional life.
The ‘Hawkeye’ star is eager to try new things and to keep challenging herself.
Hailee told PEOPLE: “I want to feel like I’m constantly being challenged and taken out of my comfort zone.
“I think it’s easy to feel like, ‘Okay, you’ve nailed something. I can totally do that again. I can do it five more times!’ But I want to do something that feels new and different and fulfilling in a way that I haven’t quite felt before.”
Hailee also revealed that she feels grateful for all of her success.
She said: “I feel so grateful for everything that has happened in my life. I’m doing what I love, and I never thought that I would be doing it to this extent.”

Hugh Grant in talks to star in Heretic

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant is in talks to star in ‘Heretic’.
The 62-year-old actor will take on the leading role in upcoming horror movie from ‘A Quiet Place’ writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
The pair wrote and are set to direct the new movie, which is being backed by A24.
Exact plot details being kept secret but, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it tells the story of “two missionaries that attempt to convert a dangerous man”.
The movie was due to start filming in July but production could be delayed if a threatened SAG-AFTRA strike goes ahead.
Meanwhile, Hugh has revealed he rejected “big blockbuster special-effects-type” films before agreeing to do ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’.
The actor – who is best known for his roles in the ‘Bridget Jones’ and ‘Paddington’ films – portrays Forge Fitzwilliam, an ambitious rogue and con artist in the fantasy comedy heist flick, and he found it to be unexpectedly “charming and funny”.
Asked about it being an unusual role for him, he told SFX magazine: “I suppose I was a bit surprised as well. I have occasionally been sent big blockbuster special-effects-type things, but they’ve never struck a chord in me.
“So I wasn’t expecting much, but I found it completely charming and funny.”
The ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ star also confessed to being “slightly frightened” of his co-star Michelle Rodriguez, who plays a barbarian who was exiled from the Uthgardt Elk Tribe, but said she’s “a good hugger”.
Asked what he thought of his co-stars, he replied: “I’m slightly frightened of Michelle. I don’t know why.
“I think she’s gonna beat me up. No one has ever worn a costume better than she wears that costume. She’s from the streets of New York and I’m from the cloisters of Oxford … So she frightens me, but she couldn’t be nicer. Good hugger.”

Six Gladiator crew members rushed to hospital after explosion on set

OHMYGOSSIP — Six ‘Gladiator 2’ crew members were reportedly rushed to hospital after an on set explosion.
The crew members were brought to hospital after a big-budget special effects scene is said to have gone wrong, during filming of the sequel in Morocco.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It was terrifying — a huge ball of fire flew up and caught several crew members in its path.
“In years of filming I’ve never seen an accident so scary.
“Six production staff had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.
“Hopefully everyone will be OK, but it was a serious accident.
“Everyone involved, from the lowliest runners to the star names, has been shaken up by this.”
According to the publication, there was speculation that a gas pipe on set may have ruptured.
Stars including Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington and director Sir Ridley Scott were not harmed.
Mescal has taken on the role of Lucius – the son of Connie Nielsen’s character Lucilla and Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus from the original film.
Russell Crowe has ruled out returning as main ‘Gladiator’ character Maximus Decimus Meridius in the new project – which is due to be released in 2024 – and explained that it won’t be a “direct sequel” to the Oscar-winning original.
Speaking on the ‘Fitzy and Wippa Podcast’, Crowe said: “Yeah we’ve had dinner and talked about it and all that stuff. So I know roughly how he’s shaping the story.
“But yeah, if you remember, there was a young kid who wanted to beat the Gladiator, which leads to the ‘My name is’ speech. So that young kid has grown up, and he’s now the Emperor.
“I don’t know what else happens at that point, so that’s the idea. So it’s not a remake. And it’s not a direct sequel. It’s not like the day after, you know, 30 years later or something.”

Bobby Brazier for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier is set to sign up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 20-year-old ‘EastEnders’ actor – who is the son of Jeff Brazier and the late reality TV star Jade Goody – is at the top of the ‘Strictly’ producers’ wishlist after wowing fans in the BBC soap.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bobby is the dream signing for ‘Strictly’ — he’s a young heart-throb who comes with a huge fanbase.
“He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade.
“There’s a few last-minute details to sort but the talks are in final stages.”
Bobby – who was just five years old when his mother died of cancer aged 27 in 2009 – previously revealed he has a deep belief in spiritualism believes his mother is still around in some form.
He told Sunday Times Style magazine: “I believe that God, the universe, whatever you’d want to call it, are the same thing. Awareness is eternal. So we don’t die. My mum doesn’t die.
“We pass on the body like we change clothes, so no one really dies. They just leave the body that we had an attachment to.”
Asked if he believes Jade is still on Earth in some form, he replied: “The Earth, the universe or somewhere. Maybe as a guide, maybe as an angel, maybe as a teacher, maybe as a protector.”
Bobby has few memories of his mother and what he does know about her comes from other people’s recollections.
Asked what he remembers of Jade, he said: “Not a whole lot. Maybe memories of memories. I’m always being told about her and what she meant to people. I guess I know my mum through other people’s memories of my mum.”
