Disney delays next 3 Avatar movies by a year and pushes back Marvel and Star Wars films

OHMYGOSSIP — Disney has delayed the next three ‘Avatar’ movies by a year, and has also pushed back Marvel and ‘Star Wars’ films.
‘Avatar 3’ will now be released on December 19, 2025, instead of a December 2024 drop, while ‘Avatar 4’ has been delayed until December 21, 2029, and ‘Avatar 5’ is now expected eight-and-a-half years from now, on December 19, 2031, 22 years after the first ‘Avatar’ movie was released in 2009.
‘Avatar’ producer Jon Landau wrote on Twitter: “Each Avatar film is an exciting but epic undertaking that takes time to bring to the quality level we as filmmakers strive for and audiences have come to expect. The team is hard at work and can’t wait to bring audiences back to Pandora in December 2025.”
Disney hasn’t confirmed the reasoning behind the delays.
But according to Variety, the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike in the US has played a part in the push backs, as has production delays.
Among the announcement of several delays, Disney has also added a new ‘Star Wars’ movie to its schedule, which will debut on December 18th, 2026, and another will drop on December 17, 2027.
A ‘Star Wars’ motion picture was expected to be released on December 19, 2025, but that has now been delayed to May 22, 2026, meaning there will be two ‘Star Wars’ big screen releases within seven months in 2026.
Disney has also added a new ‘Moana’ live-action film, which will drop on June 27th, 2025, and ‘Deadpool 3’ has been brought forward to May 3, 2024, from November 8, 2024.
What’s more, Marvel movie ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is shifting from May 3, 2024, to July 26, 2024, while ‘Thunderbolts’ will now drop on December 20, 2024.
‘Blade’ will be released on February 14, 2025, and ‘Fantastic Four’ is expected to hit the big screen on May 2, 2025.
That is the month ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ was due to be released, but that will now be arriving on May 1, 2026 instead, in place of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, which will hit cinemas on May 7, 2027.

Sir David Attenborough’s film crew left terrified by shark attack

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough’s crew feared for their lives when their boats were attacked by sharks.
The ‘Our Planet II’ film crew were in blow-up boats on a six-day trip to an island north of Hawaii shooting footage of a Laysan albatross’ maiden flight when they had to make an emergency rush towards dry land.
The show’s producer Huw Cordey told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “The original idea was to do an underwater shoot with the tiger sharks waiting in the shallows at Laysan.
“But the first day the tiger sharks were around, the crew got into these inflatable boats – and two sharks attacked them.
“It was like something out of ‘Jaws.’ ”
He revealed that everyone “panicked” and had to effectively make “an emergency landing”, and they didn’t manage to get certain shots for the four-episode documentary series.
He added: “The crew panicked and basically made an emergency landing on the sand.
“Suffice to say, they didn’t get any underwater shots.”
Legendary broadcaster Sir David, 97, is narrating the new show – which is now available to stream on Netflix – and he’s been keeping busy with plenty of projects, including recent Apple TV+ series ‘Prehistoric Planet 2’.
Meanwhile, the show’s co-producer Mike Gunton previously reflected on the presenter’s longevity.
He told the Radio Times magazine: “When I arrived at the BBC, the head of department said, ‘It’s lovely this project is under way, and it’s really important because this is David’s last series. We now need to be thinking about who’s going to take over from him.’
“That was in 1987. If I had a pound for every time somebody said, ‘This is probably going to be David’s last series’, I’d be a very rich man.”
And the TV icon previously vowed to continue informing and entertaining the masses with his fun facts for years to come.
Sir David told The Sun newspaper: “How long do I plan to keep going? As long as I’m vertical and people ask me to do it.
“It’s a marvellous time, why would I suddenly say, ‘Don’t bother’?”

Ella Thomas or Ruchee Gurung to be dumped from Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Ella Thomas or Ruchee Gurung will be dumped from ‘Love Island’ tonight (14.06.23) after they landed in the bottom two during the latest recoupling.
The 23-year-old model was left furious after her partner Tyrique Hyde was picked by new bombshell Leah Taylor, while 24-year-old beautician Ruchee was left single and vulnerable after Andre Furtado opted to couple up with former flame Catherine Agbaje.
After Leah picked Tyrique, Ella fumed: “What has he even been saying to her for her to think that she can choose him?”
Ella’s pal Whitney Adebayo told her: “Be strong, do not cry, girl. Trust me, do not cry. Keep it together.”
Last night’s (13.06.23) recoupling saw new bombshells Leah and Charlotte Sumner given the chance to pick the lads they wanted first.
After Ella had first pick and chose Tyrique, Charlotte opted to couple up with Zachariah Noble, despite him growing closer to Molly Marsh this week.
Afterwards, the lads were given the power, and Andre picked his ex Catherine, Mehdi Edno chose Whitney, and Sammy Root coupled up with Jess Harding.
Mitchel Taylor had the final choice out of his former partner Molly, Ella, or Ruchee.
Despite Molly kissing Zachariah in Tuesday night’s episode, Mitchel stayed faithful to Molly and chose to recouple with her.
That left Ruchee and Ella vulnerable, and Catherine read out a text that told the Islanders they have to pick one of the pair to stay and the other Islander will leave the villa with immediate effect.
The decision will be revealed when ‘Love Island’ continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player, proudly sponsored by Virgin Media Mobile.
The reality show can also be seen on ITV2.

Jonnie Irwin left with irreparable liver damage in ‘cruel blow’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonnie Irwin has suffered a “cruel blow” after he was left with irreparable liver damage.
The 49-year-old TV star was given six months to live when he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2020 – which has since spread to his brain – and he recently went to Turkey for several treatments, including chemotherapy, heat therapy and infusions, which shrank a number of his tumours.
But he has now been left with liver damage.
He told HELLO! magazine: “It’s blocked in a place they can’t operate on, so there’s no point fighting the cancer elsewhere if the liver’s not working. It’s a cruel blow.”
Speaking about his death, he said: “It can happen at any time. I’m here to stop it for as long as possible.”
Jonnie and his family, wife Jessica Holmes and their children, Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac, moved from Hertfordshire to Newcastle 18 months ago to be nearer her family.
While the ‘A Place in the Sun’ host admits he would’ve preferred to have seen his time out in southern England, he doesn’t want Jessica to be alone when he dies.
He added: “I didn’t want to move here – I liked my life down south and would have loved to have spent my last days there.
“But I wouldn’t want Jess to be on her own, so I took the bullet. And as soon as I saw it, I thought, ‘This is the house for our family forever.’ ”
Jonnie is also proud that they are “mortgage-free” in the family home thanks to him.
He added: “We’re mortgage-free, which is all down to me, and I’m proud of that. And I can make it cool.
“We just need to get enough money to finish the work I’ve started and leave the boys something.”

Nicola Thorp reveals terror of ‘Grim Reaper’ stalker

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Thorp was terrorised for two years by a stalker known as “the Grim Reaper”.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress and activist told a court about the way Ravinderjit Dhillon used 25 aliases to torment her online and threatened to sexually abuse her in front of her parents.
The 34-year-old star arrived at court with her fiance Nikesh Patel and took to the stand as she opened up on an 89-page document she handed to the Met Police about his campaign of terror, which started with an obscene image he sent of himself in October 2018.
She told the court: “He became an army of men all wanting to do me harm, threats to rape me.
“I’ve spent most of my adult life fighting for the rights of women and doing so in the public eye has come with some personal cost.
“I became the target of the exact behaviour I was standing up against.”
She recalled messages sent by Dhillon describing himself as her “grim reaper”, adding: “He sent messages saying, ‘I’m going to be with you forever’, ‘I’m your grim reaper’. In one message he said 28 times he wasn’t going to leave me.”
She noted that he also claimed to be ‘Helena’ and said a friend followed her onto a train, apparently getting “so close he could smell her”.
He was convicted in April and has been remanded in custody before sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court.
Nicola played Nicola Rubenstein – the daughter of Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) on ‘Corrie’ between 2017 and 2019, and has appeared in the likes of ‘Doctor Who’ and Father Brown’, while also working as a newspaper columnist.
She has been in a relationship with ‘Starstruck’ actor Nikesh since 2021, and they appeared together in the fifth series of Channel 4 show reality show ‘Celebrity Hunted’ earlier this year.

The former ‘X Factor’ judge – who helped guide Little Mix to victory in 2011 – is said to have reached a new deal with Channel 4 to appear on the reality show alongside cousins and N-Dubz bandmates Dappy and Fazer.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “‘Gogglebox’ bosses are always looking for new stars to sign up and after N-Dubz made their comeback last year it seemed like a no brainer.
“All three of them don’t hold back when it comes to their opinions so mix that with the fact they are all related it’s the perfect new dynamic for the show.”
The trio are set to drop their latest album ‘Timeless’ – their first new collection in 13 years – in August, and they will start shooting ‘Gogglebox’ imminently.
They’re joining an all-star cast, with regulars including Denise Van Outen and Duncan James, as well as Rylan Clark and his mum Linda.

Craig Revel Horwood cancelled summer holiday to take on Paul O’Grady’s Annie dates

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood cancelled his summer holiday to take on Paul O’Grady’s tour dates in ‘Annie’.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge was splitting the role of Miss Hannigan with the late star before he died aged 67 from a sudden cardiac arrhythmia in March, and the 58-year-old dancer scrapped plans to head to the Mediterranean with his fiance Jonathan Myring.
He said: “We had planned to go on a one-week holiday on a private yacht but I relinquished that.
“There is pressure to do a fabulous job like he did. We dedicated every show in Liverpool to Paul – all of which ended in rapturous applause.
“It was very special to perform there. I was very honoured.”
Following Paul’s tragic passing, Craig admitted he was “reeling in disbelief” at the news.
He wrote on Twitter at the time: “I’m in a state of shock this morning, waking up to the news that my gorgeous colleague and friend, Paul O’Grady has passed away.
“I’m actually reeling in disbelief. He was such a wonderful human being, funny and to the point. Paul, legend, RIP darling.”
Paul’s final appearance in ‘Annie’ took place in Edinburgh just a few days before his passing.
He had been due to be in the role of Miss Hannigan up until November.
Following Paul’s death, the production said in a statement: “Everyone at ‘Annie The Musical’ is stunned and saddened by the passing of Paul O’Grady.
“An incredible Miss Hannigan and an irreplaceable, hilarious and generous person who we will all miss immensely.
“Our thoughts are with Paul’s family and friends at this very sad time. There will be further news from Annie The Musical in due course.”
Craig moved the audience to tears with his words during the curtain call at The Alexandra in Birmingham days after Paul’s death as he vowed to dedicate the rest of the run to the tragic star.
Audience member David Jack told Metro.co.uk: “After the final bows, Craig Revel Horwood addressed the audience and said they would like to dedicate this and every performance to the legend Paul O’Grady. There were people in the audience in tears and shouts of, ‘We love you, Paul!’ You could see him choking up while saying what he did. I think he found it difficult to say anything due to his emotion. ”

Dan Aykroyd teases ‘heartfelt’ new Ghostbusters movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Aykroyd has promised a “heartfelt” new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie.
The 70-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Dr. Raymond Stantz in the untitled follow-up to the 2021 film ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ and is convinced that the project will be a hit with fans of the franchise when it is released in December.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Dan – who created the supernatural franchise with the late Harold Ramis – said: “We’re three-quarters through filming which means it’s got to be edited and mixed and the CGI has to be put into it.
“I’m excited about this one. It’s got a beautiful, heartfelt story, a great threat, some scary moments and it brings back Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and myself and we’ve handed the torch to new people, Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon.”
The ‘Blues Brothers’ star also waded into the debate about gay roles only being played by gay performers by reflecting on the quality of Michael Douglas and Matt Damon’s performances in the movie ‘Behind the Candelabra’.
Dan said: “That was (director) Steven Soderbergh. The true-life story of (gay pianist) Liberace.
“Weren’t Michael Douglas and Matt Damon perfect? If I were offered the part of a gay man, I would want to take it but what’s the view in the gay community?
“Neither Matt or Michael are gay but they did a wonderful job. I think (only gay actors playing gay roles) is an invalid argument.”
Dan previously urged comedians not to turn to “divisive” jokes in order to get laughs.
Discussing cancel culture, he said: “There is enough range in humour where you don’t have to go scatological and you don’t have to go pulling any divisive cards to get a laugh.
“There is so much in the world to comment on that is outside the realm of offensiveness.”

James Gunn accepts that there are ‘too many’ superhero films

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn thinks there are “too many” superhero movies.
The genre has dominated the film industry in recent years through both the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ feel that “lazy” storytelling is causing harm.
James told Michael Rosenbaum’s ‘Inside of You’ podcast: “Yeah, I do think there’s too many, but I think it’s much less a problem of ‘too many’.
“I think that what’s happened is that people have gotten really lazy with their superhero stories. They have gotten to the place where, ‘Oh, it’s a superhero, let’s make a movie about it.’ And, ‘Oh, let’s make a sequel because the first one did pretty well.’
“And they aren’t thinking about, why is this story special? What makes this story stand apart from other stories? What is the story at the heart of it all? Why is this character important? What makes this story different that it fulfils a need for people in theatres to go see, or on television?”
James – who co-chairs DC Studios with Peter Safran – is determined to release high-quality movies and hates the thought of making “generic” pictures.
The 56-year-old director said: “We are not going to overextend ourselves at DC. We’re going to be very careful with what we put out and making sure everything is as good as it can possibly be.
“There’s this sort of middle-of-the-road type of genre tone that so many superhero movies have, as opposed to having very different genres. I like very serious superhero movies, I like very comedic superhero movies, I like ones that are really just a murder mystery but with superheroes.
“I like to see these different types of stories as opposed to seeing the same story told over and over again.”

ITV boss Carolyn McCall addresses allegations of ‘toxic culture’ at This Morning

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall has addressed allegations of a “toxic” culture at ‘This Morning’, insisting: “We don’t recognise that.”
Carolyn appeared at a government committee on Wednesday (14.06.23) alongside managing director Kevin Lygo and general counsel Kyla Mullins to give evidence to MPs, following Phillip Schofield’s departure from ITV following his “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger former colleague.
Amid Phillip’s departure, some stars have claimed there is a “toxic” culture at ITV, but Carolyn insisted there have only been two complaints of such an “issue” in five years, and both were “taken very seriously”.
When asked what she makes of allegations of there being a “toxic culture at ‘This Morning'”, Carolyn told the government committee: “What I would say is that it’s not something that we take that seriously.
“What I know is that when we talk about culture it’s incredibly important to me, personally and so it deeply disappoints me, right?
“But we do not recognise that in ‘This Morning’ and the reason for that is that we have tangible evidence to tell you that the vast majority of people at daytime and at ‘This Morning’ are extremely engaged and very motivated.
“That’s not to say we don’t take complaints about it seriously. We’ve had two complaints in five years about that issue. Both of them taken very seriously.”
Carolyn admitted she “asked for an internal investigation” after Dr Ranj Singh complained about the working culture on the show and an investigation occurred, but it “was not able to be upheld”.
Dr Ranj – who worked on the show as a resident medic – previously alleged there is a “toxic culture” on ‘This Morning’ that “no longer aligned with ITV values”, and he has claimed he was “managed out”.
He tweeted: “I was on the show for 10 years and I genuinely loved and valued working there.
“However, over time I grew increasingly worried about things behind the scenes and how people, including myself, were being treated.
“I didn’t know the truth about what was going on with Phillip, but I do know the issues with ‘This Morning’ go far beyond him. It takes more than one person to create a culture.”
An ITV spokesperson recently said the broadcaster is “fully committed to providing every opportunity for anyone who works with us to raise any concern or comments they may have”.
Phillip has denied there was a “toxic” atmosphere on ‘This Morning’.

Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa: Eric will get the ending I wanted for him

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa’s ‘Sex Education’ character will get the ending the star “wanted” for his alter-ego.
The 30-year-old actor is to take over as the 15th titular Time Lord in ‘Doctor Who’ over the festive period, but before then he will bow out of Netflix show ‘Sex Education’, and Ncuti has told fans his character Eric Effiong’s storyline will be “tied up”.
He told British Vogue magazine: “He gets the ending I wanted for him. Things get tied up.”
Ncuti also revealed he and his ‘Sex Education’ co-star Aimee Lou Wood co-wrote a scene for the show’s fourth series.
He added: “There was one scene that I particularly fought for, and I managed to get it in, which was great.
“Aimee and I wrote it, and we were redrafting it until like 3am the day before.
“I’ve never written for Eric before so that felt big, and it was a scene that meant a lot to me in terms of Eric’s journey and relationships. It felt very necessary.”
Ncuti admits becoming well known because of ‘Sex Education’ made him “public property” to an extent, but he tries to “set boundaries” and doesn’t want his personal life to “overshadow [his] work”.
He added: “After ‘Sex Education’, we all became public property, to an extent.
“You have to fight for your right to privacy after that, but you also do feel like you owe people something. In setting my boundaries, I knew I wanted to separate the private and public, and that I never wanted my personal life to overshadow my work.
“I also believe that everyone is on their own journey, and it’s important that no one feels an obligation to others in relation to what’s happening to them internally.
“And that’s what Sex Education is about – taking things at your own pace.”
Aimee recently revealed the fourth season of ‘Sex Education’ will explore “new territory”, after Moordale Secondary School was forced to shut its doors due to a lack of funding.
The 29-year-old actress – who portrays Aimee Gibbs – told Digital Spy: “The characters feel like they’re in very new territory because they literally are, they’re at a new school. A lot of our feeling slightly off-centre is actually also just because of what is happening in the story which is that they are [at] a new school.”

Johnny Vaughan credits The Big Breakfast success with ‘non-toxic team’

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Vaughan thinks ‘The Big Breakfast’ benefited from a “non-toxic team” across the board.
The 56-year-old presenter – who reunited with former co-host Denise Van Outen, 49, to front ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ on Tuesday (13.06.23) – has reflected on the chemistry they shared from the first moment they worked together in 1997, and how the Channel 4 show’s entire team contributed to the positive feelings.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We just found each other quite funny from the start. But it was also ‘Big Breakfast’, the show.
“It’s easy for Denise and I to take the credit, but actually she’d been there for a while already, all the crew were settled in. I think I was just the last piece in the jigsaw.
“You can’t just have two people doing it, as we’ve seen from other male-female double acts doing daytime TV who seem to get along well, you also need a non-toxic team as well.”
He noted that he wasn’t taking “a dig at anyone” with the comment, instead simply pointing out the way the show was made.
He added: “And that’s not a dig at anyone, but we really had a team who were more visibly on-air, and it was really everyone who worked on that show who made it.”
Before this week, they hadn’t worked together on screen since ‘Passport To Paradise’ over two decades ago but they have remained friends.
He said: “We’ve had small ups and downs. But you know what, you can only fall out with someone you really like, you don’t fall out with people you don’t like.
“And that’s the way of friendship. There’s been a couple of ups and downs. But that’s because it’s a real, genuine friendship.”
Meanwhile, after they were on air Denise shared a selfie of them together and reflected on their emotional reunion this week.
She wrote on Instagram: “Today presenting @packedlunchc4 with @johnny_vaughan66 was so much fun. First time back on screen together in almost 20Years. Felt like the old days on ‘The Big Breakfast’.
“Also, lovely to be reunited with some of our old production team and crew from lock keepers cottages.”

ITV’s Carolyn McCall addresses ‘imbalance of power’ in Phillip Schofield relationship

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall has acknowledged there was an “imbalance of power” in Phillip Schofield’s relationship with a younger co-worker on ‘This Morning’.
McCall gave evidence in front of MPs at a parliamentary inquiry launched by the Government’s Culture, Media and Sport Committee (CMS) on Wednesday (14.06.23) alongside the channel’s managing director Kevin Lygo and general counsel Kyla Mullins in the aftermath of Schofield’s departure from ITV amid revelations the presenter had what he described as an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a colleague.
Addressing why ITV bosses failed to launch a formal wife-ranging investigation into rumours of the affair, she told the government committee: “The people that have said they knew [about the affair], would only have heard rumours about it. If any one of the individuals you have named or referenced had come to us and said: ‘There is evidence that there is a relationship between Phillip Schofield and Person X’ with evidence, we would have been able to launch a formal investigation.”
She went on to add an official probe into Schofield’s relationship with the young runner would have been necessary “because the imbalance of power, the imbalance of dynamics in that relationship, makes it deeply inappropriate and we have policies that say that very clearly”.
McCall went on to say: “One of the things I hope you’ll see as we go through this, is that we worked very hard for many, many months – until recently – to ask people, not just Phillip Schofield and Person X, in production if they knew something was going on, and it was repeatedly denied by both individuals.”
Schofield previously admitted both he and the other man lied to cover up the relationship when they were asked about it.
A spokesperson for ITV also previously confirmed both parties had been asked about the rumours, but they were vehemently denied.
A spokesperson for the channel said in a statement: “ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.
“Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip’s then agency YMU.
“In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on ‘This Morning’ and were not provided with, and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour. “Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship.”
ITV’s statement came after Phillip sensationally resigned from the channel and was dropped by his agent after he admitted to lying about the affair.
The 61-year-old presenter – who quit ‘This Morning’ amid intense scrutiny over his alleged strained relationship with co-host Holly Willoughby, 42 – was still married at the time of his fling.
Phillip said in a long statement issued to the Daily Mail: “I am making this statement via the Daily Mail to whom I have already apologised personally for misleading, through my lawyer who I also misled, about a story which they wanted to write about me a few days ago.
“The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied to them, and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on ‘This Morning’.
“I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at ‘This Morning’.
“Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.
“That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.” Phillip was still married to his wife Stephanie Lowe at the time of the affair. He came out as gay in 2020.

Ruchee Gurung exits Love Island villa

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruchee Gurung has been dumped from ‘Love Island’.
The 24-year-old beautician has left the show after the other Islanders opted to save Ella Thomson instead.
Revealing the decision to the group, Mehdi Edno said: “It has been a very hard decision for us to make – you need to know every single person here loves you and wants the best for you.
“Ella, we think you have potential since day one with Tyrique and it was nice to see it blossom.
“Ruchee, we have been on a similar journey and we want you to find the right person … but we have to make a decision and we based it on potential.”
Ruchee was subsequently announced as the latest contestant to leave the villa.
The beautician insisted she was “completely fine” with the decision – despite enjoying her time on the TV show.
