OHMYGOSSIP — Priya Davdra is being lined up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress – who left Albert Square last year after three years playing Iqra Ahmed, the soap’s first Muslim lesbian – is seen as a “great fit” for the show so the 36-year-old star is at the top of casting bosses’ wish list for the upcoming series.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Priya was singled out as a target for the casting team early in the process and they were keen. She is young, glamorous and would be a great fit for the show.”
If she does sign up, Priya could go head-to-head against Bobby Brazier, who plays Freddie Slater in ‘EastEnders’, because it was previously revealed the 20-year-old star – who is the son of Jeff Brazier and the late Jade Goody – was also in talks for the show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bobby is the dream signing for ‘Strictly’ — he’s a young heart-throb who comes with a huge fanbase.
“He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade.
“There’s a few last-minute details to sort but the talks are in final stages.”
Meanwhile, Priya recently insisted she wouldn’t rule out a return to ‘EastEnders’ one day in the future because she’s very proud of what her character represented.
She told The Sun newspaper : “I’m not dead. There’s always scope to come back.
“I think Iqra was the first gay Muslim on the show, ‘EastEnders’ has such a big platform.
“I think it was a very important storyline and it made a huge impact because sometimes things like this are a bit taboo to talk about but I feel like this opened up conversations and raised a lot more awareness.”
