Rylan Clark and Rob Rinder head to India for second series

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Rinder and Rylan Clark are setting off to India for a second series of their show ‘Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour’.
The 46-year-old judge appeared alongside former ‘X Factor’ contestant Rylan, 35 in the BBC travelogue show – which saw the duo go to Italy -earlier this year and now a second series has been commissioned that will see Rylan and Rob set off to India.
Rylan said on Instagram: “So excited we’re back for series two and this time we’re off to INDIA. Bumped into each other yesterday and this is how excited we are. Thank you everyone that watched our show and we can’t wait until we get going for S2. I’ll try not to kill him.”
The show focuses on the television personalities follow in the footsteps of 19th century romantic poet Lord Byron and other Grand Tourists as they immerse themselves in the art, culture, bad behaviour and life-changing exploits of historic Brits abroad.
After Greece, Spain and France were considered as destinations, show bosses ultimately decided to send the two stars east for a trip titled ‘A Passage To India’ in honour of E. M. Forster’s 1924 novel.
Rylan previously admitted that the “best thing” about making the first show was the “genuine” friendship he built up with Rob.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’: “Watching it back, the narrative, the arc throughout the three episodes even something as stupid as in Venice, we were in separate accommodation. In Florence, we were in the same accommodation in different rooms and by Rome I’m waking up with him underneath me.
“But that’s the narrative of the arc, we started this process as mates and we have finished it as actual genuine friends. That’s been probably the best thing to come out of it.”

Kerry Katona slams Phillip Schofield’s TV comeback as ‘self-centered’: ‘He’s obsessed with fame…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona thinks Phillip Schofield is “obsessed” with being famous.
The 62-year-old former broadcaster dramatically quit his long-running role on ‘This Morning’ in June 2023 after admitting to lying about his extramarital affair with a younger male and when he returned to screens with his Channel 5 documentary ‘Cast Away’, former Atomic Kitten star Kerry, 43, admitted she had to switch off just seconds in because she “cringed” at what she saw.
Writing in her OK! Magazine column, she said: “So, last week I said we’d all be watching Phillip Schofield’s new show ‘Cast Away’, but if I’m honest, I turned it off after about 30 seconds! I couldn’t believe he was not only starring in the show but he also started by narrating it – could it get any more self-centred?
“I saw Eamonn Holmes talking about it on GB News and I completely agree with him, I think Phillip is obsessed with fame. I couldn’t watch it without cringing.”
As part of the trailer for ‘Cast Away’, Phil questioned whether his affair with a younger male colleague was enough to “absolutely destroy” him, as he gears up for the new three-part series.
Speaking in a trailer for the upcoming show, he said: “I’ve been cast away on a desert island, completely on my own, all I have is camera gear, and I can say whatever I want about whatever I want.
“It’s my chance to tell my side of my story.
“I know what I did was unwise, but is it enough to absolutely destroy someone?”
Following her days as a pop singer, Kerry became a reality TV favourite as the winner of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ and made appearances on shows like ‘Dancing on Ice’ and ‘Loose Women’ but admitted that one interview on ‘This Morning’ with Phillip in 2008 when she had been slurring her words had left her in the depths of depression.
She later explained it was a side effect of the medication she was taking at the time, but was left embroiled in a public feud with host Phillip – which has since been resolved – and previously admitted that her appearance left her so low because there was a lack of “aftercare” from the broadcaster.

Rachel McAdams to reunite with Sam Raimi for his first horror movie in 15 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel McAdams is reportedly in talks to star in Sam Raimi’s ‘Send Help’.
The 45-year-old actress worked with the director, 64, on his 2022 Marvel film ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, and she is now in negotiations for the leading role in the upcoming horror flick – the filmmaker’s first project in the genre since 2009’s ‘Drag Me to Hell’.
Talks about McAdams’ involvement in the project are reportedly still in the early stages.
As well as directing, Raimi will be producing the upcoming movie, which is being penned by ‘Baywatch’ and ‘Friday the 13th’ writers Damien Shannon and Mark Swift.
In ‘Multiverse of Madness’, McAdams reprised her role as surgeon Christine Palmer opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and the actress had previously revealed it was the ‘Spider-Man’ director’s involvement that piqued her interest in the picture – even though she was pregnant with her daughter at the time.
She told Variety: “Well, I mean, to get to work with Sam.
“And I said, ‘Sam, I’m pregnant. Is that okay?’ But of course, he can’t say it’s not. He was like, ‘This is great. Let’s do it.’ And I’ve got lots of exciting ideas for Christine and her evolution.
“He took me through the whole journey and it just sounded really fun and thoughtful and I was excited to come back.”
The ‘Mean Girls’ star added she relished the more physical aspects of the movie.
She said: “I love action. I love being physical. As an actor, I always feel like it gets me out of my head, and fun surprises come out of getting to just move. It was great to get to do that in this one a little bit more.
“And to wear a cool outfit. I was in scrubs last time – which were super comfortable; I’m not complaining at all. And I did miss them, but it was fun to be really just decked out.”
Raimi built his filmmaking reputation in the horror genre with 1981 cult classic ‘The Evil Dead’ and its two sequels starring Bruce Campbell as demon battling Ash Williams.

Pedro Pascal enjoyed The Wild Robot part more than previous roles, says director Chris Sanders

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Wild Robot’ director Chris Sanders has revealed Pedro Pascal enjoyed working on the new movie because his character reflected his own personality.
The 49-year-old actor plays the trickster fox Fink in the animated flick – which is based on Peter Brown’s novel of the same name – and Sanders, 62, has now said Pascal enjoyed playing the character more than his previous roles because he felt like he had more in common with Fink than his previous parts.
The filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter: “Oh, my gosh, he is amazing. He was so inventive and funny and has a very playful nature.
“As we developed his character, that really was the way that we went. In one of the last recording sessions, he said that this character is more him than many [other characters] that he plays, and he really enjoyed it.”
Producer Jeff Hermann said Pascal kept trying to lean into his experience with his previous parts, though became “so excited” after being told to include his own personality for his performance as Fink.
Hermann explained: “Coming into it, he thought that we were looking for more of what he was doing on screen already – with ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘The Last of Us’, ‘Game of Thrones’ — and we kept pushing him back to his own persona. Once he realized that, he got so excited and embraced it.”
The movie – which also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Kit Harrington and Mark Hamill – follows Roz the android who comes to learn how to adapt and communicate with the local wildlife after being stranded on a remote island.
The producer added the team felt “so lucky” to have such a star-studded cast.
He gushed: “We’re so lucky to have gotten Lupita, Pedro and Kit, who are strong actors with very distinctive voices. They’ve all done voiceover work in their careers, but not to the extent of what we’re asking them to do now.”
Looking to the future, Hermann revealed the team were eyeing a possible sequel given Brown had written more books in the adventure series.
He said: “We were very aware that this was an ongoing story that Peter was telling, and in trying to stay true to the essence and the basic structure of what he created in the first book, we were trying to create something that could act as a stand-alone in the event that we never could go further, but also definitely leaving that possibility open of continuing it, as we would very much love to.”

‘I’ve been quite unwell’ Nadiya Hussain diagnosed with 2 autoimmune diseases

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadiya Hussain has been diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases after being “quite unwell” for a couple of years.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner – who triumphed on the show in 2015 – has urged others to take good care of themselves following her double diagnosis, because she “cannot express the importance of listening to your body”.
She said in an Instagram video: “I cannot express enough the importance of taking care of yourself. I am the kind of person who burns the candle at both ends, takes care of everyone else’s needs but my own.
“I don’t take time out for myself. I don’t really know what that means or what that feels like. Not really. And when I do take time for myself, I feel incredibly guilty.
“But recently, mostly this year, but over the course of two years, I’ve been quite unwell. I’ve just been getting quite sick.
“And over the course of the two years, I’ve been diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases, which I’m not going to go into now.
“I will go into in the future when I know more about it and when I have a better handle on it and when I understand it a little bit better.
“But till then, like I cannot express, like I cannot express the importance of listening to your body, of taking care of yourself.
“And like I said, I’m the worst at that. I’m not very good at it at all. I will only ever take care of myself when my body’s in shutdown. And that’s not good for you. We need to take more care of ourselves.”
Nadiya admitted it has been a “really tough year” because she has been undergoing tests, but the star feels “grateful” to be here.
She added: “So, yeah, I just wanted to come on here.
“And like it’s been a really kind of really tough year because of all the tests and trying to work stuff out and getting my head around things.
“But I feel like it’s really important to come out the other side and like really be grateful for and feel blessed that although, you know, it’d be great not to be sick, I’m here.
“And that’s really what matters is that I’m here and I need to do all the things that I can to positively impact myself mentally and physically. And that’s all I can really do.
“But I just think it’s really important that my takeaway from all of this, I always have, is listen to your body.”

Martin Scorsese has ‘more films to make’ despite Jesus and Frank Sinatra movie delays

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese still feels like he has “more films to make”.
The 81-year-old director has played down any suggestion he could wind down his career behind the camera, and insisting he has no plans to retire.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he told reports at Turin Film Festival; “I’m not saying goodbye to cinema at all.
“I still have more films to make, and I hope God gives me the strength to make them.”
His comments follow reports that his planned films about Jesus and Frank Sinatra have been postponed.
The legendary filmmaker had been planning to shoot the two films back-to-back this year but both flicks have now been put on hold.
‘The Life of Jesus’ had been expected to go into production first and an insider has emphasised to Variety that the movie is still in development.
No cast members have been announced but Scorsese is said to be financing the project independently – just as he did with his 2016 epic ‘Silence’.
The picture is based on Shusaku Endo’s 1973 novel and the ‘Goodfellas’ helmer had been hoping to film in Israel, Italy and Egypt.
Scorsese had revealed that the movie would only last 80 minutes and is centred on the principles of Jesus’ core teachings.
He said: “Right now, ‘religion’, you say that word and everyone is up in arms because it’s failed in some ways.
“But that doesn’t mean necessarily that the initial impulse was wrong. Let’s get back. Let’s just think about it. You may reject it. But it might make a difference in how you live your life – even in rejecting it. Don’t dismiss it offhand. That’s all I’m talking about.”
Meanwhile, those involved in the Sinatra biopic were told last month that the scheduled November start date had been cancelled with no new information announced.

Gary Lineker has ‘just started’ Match of the Day contract talks

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Lineker has “just started” new contract talks with the BBC.
The ‘Match of the Day’ host has addressed his future on the broadcaster’s iconic football highlights show with his current deal set to experience next summer at the end of the current season.
The retired striker was asked about the situation by his ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast co-hosts Alan Shearer and Micah Richards.
He explained: “I’m coming to the end of my contract in the summer.
“So it’s natural at some point that you have to have conversations, and they’ve just started. So I don’t know why it all spiralled out of control, but…”
Micah, who appears with Alan as a pundit on the weekly show, pointed out that he’s been named the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Gary as the host.
He quipped: “What’s more concerning – I’m four to one [with the bookies] to replace you!”
Alan teased it was a “massive concern”, and jokingly insisted he “wouldn’t be signing a new contract” if Micah secured the main presenting role.
Gary laughed: “Four to one? Blimey. I’d love to see you take over, Micah, I think you’d be brilliant in the chair.”
The former England international started Saturday’s (05.10.24) show with a direct reference to reports claiming the BBC was preparing to announce his departure from a show he’s fronted since 1999.
Immediately after the opening credits, Gary said: “even games on the way and it’s my final show…. Before the international break.”
Responding to the reports themselves, a BBC spokesperson has said: “We have nothing to announce, and we have not agreed next steps with regard to his contract. He is on contract until the end of the season.”
Earlier this year, Gary insisted his future on the show “depends how long they want me”, but he “loves doing it at the moment”.
He added to ‘BBC Breakfast’: “Obviously it’s another change in football and television and the rights of the Premier League and stuff like that. All of these things will play a part.
“But I just feel it’s been an absolute privilege to have presented it for 25 years now. I must be getting old!”

Bad Boys pair Will Smith and Michael Bay ‘to reunite for new Netflix action movie’

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith and Michael Bay are to reunite for a new Netflix movie.
The 56-year-old actor was first directed by Bay, 59, in 1995 when they made ‘Bad Boys’ together, and the pair look set to re-team.
Sources have told Deadline that Bay is in talks to helm action film ‘Fast and Loose’ for the streaming giant.
The movie will tell the story of a guy who wakes up in Tijuana with no memory.
He then slowly starts to remember certain things about his life, and comes to the conclusion he has been living a double-life – as an undercover CIA agent and a crime boss.
Smith will produce the project alongside Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North.
Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson have penned the script.
News of Smith’s potential involvement in the movie comes after he recently dropped out of the cast of ‘Sugar Bandits’.
Last month, it was revealed Smith had left the project as an actor due to scheduling conflicts, but the ‘Independence Day’ star and his Westbrook production company will remain involved in the big-budget action flick.
Westbrook is thought to be looking to re-cast Smith’s role and still plans to make ‘Sugar Bandits’ next year.
However, there are now questions about the movie’s outlook as it was sold to leading distributors and Amazon Prime on the understanding that the Oscar-winning actor would be starring in it.
Smith had been due to play a former special forces soldier, who is in command of an elite vigilante squad working to wipe out the drug trade in Boston.
‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’ filmmaker Stefano Sollima is on board as director.

‘I’ve been in pain every day for 2 years!’ Adam Thomas struggling to walk amid arthritis battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas has been struggling to walk amid his arthritis battle, which has left him in pain “every day” for the past two years.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor revealed in August 2023 that he had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and in a new update the 36-year-old star told how he is coming off his latest medication because the side effects have become “too much”.
He wrote on Instagram: “My arthritis journey …
So for those of you that know,I’ve been on my methotrexate injections for quite some time and the side effects were just too much for me,I’ve had enough so I’ve decided to come off them… I’ve been off them now for 5 weeks or so and not been on anything and the pain has definitely increased, finding it hard to walk again, especially in the morning and my wrists and fingers are just as bad if not worse! I’ve been taking a lot of pain killers to get me through and they have helped ease the pain where am able to train but the next day my body is just in bits. (sic)”
Adam is to try another type of medication, sulfasalazine tablets, in a bid to ease the pain, and he is trying to “stay positive”.
He added: “So back to the hospital today to try something else… I know a lot of you have recommended the biologics but in order for me to get on to these, I have to have tried at least two different medications first. So i have tried the methotrexate tablets and injections and now Im going on to sulfasalazine tablets. It’s a long process but I just have to stay positive! (sic)”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ competitor admitted the only time he hasn’t been in pain over the last couple of years was when he took steroid injections, during his time on the Latin and ballroom contest.
He said: “The thing is I’ve never been pain free!! Over two years I’ve been in pain EVERYDAY and as you can imagine it definitely takes its toll. The only time I can think of,that I’ve not been pain free,is when I was doing strictly… 4-5 weeks in the pain was unbearable to the point i couldn’t physically carry on anymore I was putting on a brave face, but really I was suffering! Even though I was in pain and physically I was suffering, in my mind I wanted to keep going and the team at strictly mentioned steroid injections to help ease the pain a little and it worked massively !!! I was still s*** at dancing but the pain had eased off. And so il be honest I just need some breathing space again to feel normal again and so that’s what I’ve had again today! So fingers crossed! I know it’s no cure but it just gives me a little time until the other meds kick in!
“I genuinely do not talk to anyone about any of this, and the reason I share this is because I know a lot of you are suffering, but I want you to know that we have to stay strong! no one will understand what we are going through it’s tough some good days some bad,but we can’t let it beat us.I refuse to give in!!
Much love x (sic)”

The Royle Family’s Sue Johnston discovers royal link in DNA journey

OHMYGOSSIP — The Royle Family’s Sue Johnston has discovered she has a connection to royalty.
The 80-year-old actress – who played Barbara Royle in the iconic BBC sitcom – was joined by her on-screen husband Ricky Tomlinson for an episode of ITV’s ‘DNA Journey’, in which it was revealed she is related to the King’s horse trainer, 3rd Baronet Sir Mark Prescott.
Sue – who has supported trade unions and the Labour Party – learned Mark’s father William Prescott was once the Tory MP for Tottenham.
During the episode, when Sue and Ricky are sent to a former Conservative Club for Sue to learn more about her family history, Ricky quipped: “If it all goes wrong, can I get another car to go home in? You know, you get tarred with the same brush.”
Sue learned that her ancestor William first stood as an MP in 1918 after returning from the First World War and championed the working class.
She gushed on the show: “I couldn’t be prouder of him, and the qualities he had. It’s something I’d aspire to. I admire him. I am proud and very thankful.”
Ricky added: “I’m shocked for someone on that side of the House to express himself in favour of the working class. I just wish we had a few more like him who would stand up and support the working class the way he did.”
The other celebrity duos delving into their families’ histories this series are Jo Brand and Julian Clary, Fay Ripley and Hermione Norris, Sam Thompson and Marvin Humes, Sarah Parish and Jimmy Nesbitt as well as John Simm and Philip Glenister.
The new series of ‘DNA Journey’ starts on Wednesday (09.10.24) at 9pm on ITV and ITVX, when John makes a shock discovery that his dad is not his biological father.
Sue and Ricky’s episode is on next week (16.10.24) at 9pm.

Pete Wicks quit Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins for heart-breaking reason

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Wicks quit ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ after penning an emotional letter to his mother.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ competitor departed the brutal Channel 4 series on Monday night (07.10.24) after being asked to write a note to his mum, who he once saved from taking her own life when he was 12 years old.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I decided that night that I was in too deep.
“I hadn’t prepared for the reading out of the letters.
“I said things that I think I shouldn’t have said because I wasn’t saying it to the right person.
“I thought, ‘I need to go and say what I’ve said in this letter to my mum.’ ”
On Monday night’s episode, Pete quit the show before a drill in which the recruits had to plunge into freezing cold waters in New Zealand.
Addressing the ex-Special Forces soldiers – Chief Instructor Billy Billingham and his team of Directing Staff (DS), Foxy (Jason Fox), Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver – he said: “I’ve lost the fight, I’ve got nothing left, my head is not in it.”
However, the 36-year-old star has now told how he has “absolutely no regrets” about his time on the programme.
He said: “For them, it’s life and death.
“But it’s a TV show, and I’d reached my limit on a TV show.
“I’ve got absolutely no regrets about it.”
It was Pete’s second stint on the show, after he knocked himself unconscious jumping out of a helicopter and broke his ribs in the 2022 series.
In this year’s ‘Celebrity SAS’ series – which was filmed in New Zealand last year – Pete also got into some trouble when he had to be airlifted to safety after collapsing on a mountain.

Danny Dyer ‘had a lot of fear’ around learning Japanese for Rivals role

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer “had a lot of fear” around learning Japanese for his role in ‘Rivals’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star is set to take on the role of rough diamond businessman Freddie Jones for the TV adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s novel ‘Rivals’, which will stream on Disney+, and at one point Danny feared he may not be able to deliver his lines in the language.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I had a great guy on WhatsApp giving me voice notes, but I had a lot of fear around it.
“I’ve never learned Japanese before. Why would I? Of course, I didn’t quite know how to pronounce it. I did have one night where I thought, ‘I can’t do this. They’re gonna have to ADR it.’ But actually, I just put the work in.”
Another scene that terrified Danny during filming was singing live on a karaoke machine.
He added: “I had a lot of anxiety around the Japanese and singing karaoke in front of everybody when I didn’t really know them.
“It’s great though, it’s great for Fred. It really shows how clever he is and how smart he is. He’s a grafter. He’s a businessman. What he’s done is pretty incredible, he’s way ahead of his time.”
The 47-year-old actor also believes that landing the part of Freddie could be a turning point in his career.
He said: “Playing a role where I look very different is important because I’ve not had many opportunities to do it and I think that that will maybe change a few people’s perceptions of me.
“I have come across quite a lot of classism towards me that just spurred me on a little bit more, especially when I went into theatre.
“I didn’t really feel like I belonged. I never trained, you see, so I wasn’t very good at the rehearsal process of sitting round a table and breaking down your subtext and why you’re saying stuff. I’m a very instinctive actor so it’s all about just getting up on my feet and saying words.”
Rivals will be released on Disney+ on October 18th.

It Ends With Us writer Colleen Hoover’s next movie revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — An adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s ‘Reminders of Him’ is reportedly in development.
After the success of the film adaptation of ‘her 2016 romance novel It Ends With Us’ – which starred Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni – the author’s 2022 book will also be adapted for the big screen at Universal Pictures after the studio won a bidding war for the story rights.
The story follows a woman whose relationship with a suave but abusive neurosurgeon is thrown into disarray when her first love unexpectedly re-enters her life, forcing her to make an impossible decision about her future.
The upcoming romance-drama is due to hit cinemas on 13 February 2026, though no director or actors are attached to the project yet.
Hoover’s first movie adaptation ‘It Ends With Us’ proved to be a smash-hit when it released to theatres in August, bringing in $340.7 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of $25 million.
However, the picture was said to have become engulfed in chaos due to an alleged feud between Lively and her co-star Baldoni – who also directed the film.
The rumoured dispute between the two actors reportedly began after the ‘Gossip Girl’ star, 37, allegedly commissioned a separate version of the flick from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ editor Shane Reid because she was unhappy with the director’s cut.
As a result of the rift, industry insiders have said a sequel with Lively and Baldoni – which would have adapted Hoover’s 2022 novel ‘It Starts With Us’ – is unlikely.
A source told Variety: “This is uncharted territory, and nobody has any idea of what a sequel could look like. There’s probably no world where these two will work together again.”
Insiders also claimed that main the cast and Hoover had fallen out with Baldoni due to his feud with Lively.
People was told: “All is not what it seems. There is much more to this story.
“The principal cast and Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with him.”

Sebastian Stan couldn’t shake off Donald Trump mannerisms for Thunderbolts*

OHMYGOSSIP — Sebastian Stan couldn’t shake off the Donald Trump mannerisms he learned for ‘The Apprentice’ when he started shooting ‘Thunderbolts*’.
The 42-year-old actor plays the former US President and real estate tycoon in Ali Abbasi’s upcoming biographical drama, and he found that Trump’s characteristics started to find their way into his performance as Bucky Barnes, also known as The Winter Soldier, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster.
Speaking to the British edition of GQ magazine, Stan said: “I went off to Marvel after [‘The Apprentice’]. And we were doing scenes, and I would do something, a thing or two, and be like, ‘F***! This is still living somewhere.’”
The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ star also admitted it was hard to shift the weight he gained to play Trump by drinking cans of Coca-Cola and eating plenty of peanut butter and jam sandwiches.
He quipped: “I’m 41. I just worked pretty hard to get in shape here!”
‘The Apprentice’ – which also stars Jeremy Strong and Maria Bakalova – follows Trump’s rise to fame in the late 1970s as he went from a New York real estate mogul to a man synonymous with wealth and power.
Sebastian says the Republican presidential candidate began to “take over [his] life”, and as part of his research he would listen to Trump speak for hours on end.
Even so, Stan emphasised he didn’t want to simply imitate Trump in the movie.
He explained: “It’s a balance between having the familiarity without it becoming sort of a schtick.
“There is a small window of time where you are going through the impersonation phase, because you’ve got to get through that in order to come out the other end.
“There is a mechanical, technical piece to it, and that comes from actually studying a person.”

Arlene Phillips blasts politicians for taking part in Strictly and I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Arlene Phillips doesn’t think politicians should appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ or ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The former ‘Strictly’ judge, 81, thinks it’s wrong for politicians to “make fools of themselves” and play “silly little games” on the Latin and ballroom show, or the Australian jungle-based programme.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper’s The Diary column: “I’m not big on politicians, even ex-politicians, going into the jungle or dancing on ‘Strictly’.
“I actually don’t like them making fools of themselves.
“We try to teach our children and grandchildren to respect people who are governing and running the country, not going on shows, doing silly little games.”
Recently, former Health Secretary Matt Hancock and fellow politician Nigel Farage have taken part in ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
Both stars finished third in their respective series.
Matt was beaten to the title by Jill Scott in 2022, and former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Owen Warner finished just in front of him in second.
A year later, ex-‘Made in Chelsea’ star Sam Thompson was named King of the Jungle, followed by former pro boxer Tony Bellew. Nigel made the final and finished third.
In 2016, former Labour Party politician Ed Balls took part in ‘Strictly’.
He is best remembered for his and pro partner Katya Jones’ ‘Gangnam Style’ dance, and Arlene admitted that was “fun”.
She said: “He was fun. He was light-hearted.”
However, Arlene believes some celebrities take the show “to heart” too much.
She explained: “They take it to heart and it breaks them.”

‘He’s a bit of a ghost!’ David Jason reveals what ‘upsets’ him about Only Fools and Horses

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason feels “upset” that most people only remember him for playing legendary ‘Only Fools and Horses’ character Del Boy Trotter.
The 84-year-old star has confessed his loveable market trader alter-ego is like a “ghost” that “haunts” him, because people rarely speak to him about other roles he has portrayed over the years.
David told ‘BBC Breakfast’: “That Derek Trotter thing, he’s a bit of a ghost that comes along behind me like A Christmas Carol.
“Haunted is perhaps too … no. He’s with me all the time, whether you call it haunted or not.
“I do say he’s on my back all the time, because wherever I go people recognise me as the character and you always get people who say, ‘Lovely jubbly!’ and all of that.
“Which only hangs me back, only upsets me slightly is because that seems to be the only thing that people remember me for.
“I’m delighted in one way that it’s reached so many people and they’ve enjoyed what I’ve done with the character, but I’ve done so many other things that everybody seems to have forgotten about. It’s like I’ve only ever played Derek Trotter.”
David also starred in the likes of ‘The Darling Buds of May’, ‘A Touch of Frost’, ‘Porridge’, and ‘Open All Hours’, among many other shows.
And the actor has told how he and the cast of ‘Still Open All Hours’ – the sitcom sequel to ‘Open All Hours’ – are “still waiting” to hear if another series will be made.
He explained: “A lot of storylines were left a bit open. It was cancelled originally because of Covid and they thought it would be lovely to wind it all up.
“We all gave it the green light and it went off to the BBC and we’re still waiting.
“So, if anybody is at the BBC and wanted a series that the audiences like, we’ve got it ready! Ready to go and it’s off and running, it’ll be great.”
What’s more, David has a career “regret” – that he wasn’t part of “big productions” in the National Theatre.
