Good Morning Britain star taking ‘break’ and jokes he is ‘retiring from public life’

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Arnold is taking a break from ‘Good Morning Britain’.
The entertainment reporter joked on Tuesday’s (08.10.24) episode that he is “retiring from public life”, because he won’t be seen for a couple of weeks until the Pride of Britain Awards on October 21st.
Speaking on ‘GMB’, he joked: “I am retiring from public life until the 21st, then I will be back for Pride Of Britain.”
Presenter Ed Balls asked Richard: “Are you off to an island?”
But Richard revealed he is taking a break to spend some quality time with his mother, 81-year-old Dot.
He replied: “No. I will be spending a bit of quality time with mother as always.”
‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Susanna Reid branded Richard “the ideal son”, and added: “I just hope that my boys at your age say the same thing.”
But Richard joked his mum sees him as “needy”.
He said: “I wish my mother would say the same thing but I think she’s thinking I’m a little bit too needy.
“You left home at 17 son, thank you and goodnight.”
In December, Richard thanked NHS staff for looking after Dot, before signing off for the festive period.
He said at the time: “I would like to thank the staff at St Mary’s Hospital who have looked after my mum on and off.
“The care teams out there, all of you out there who do that job – and unsung.
“And to all my friends and family who have wrapped me up in cotton wool this year as well, in what has been quite a challenging year.
“And to all my friends and colleagues and the entertainment team who put this stellar slot together.
“We managed to get to the end of the year gang!
“Merry Christmas to you all, have a good one.”

Strictly’s Dr Punam Krishan has ‘non-stop medical questions’ from fellow celebs

OHMYGOSSIP — Strictly Come Dancing’s Dr Punam Krishan has had “non-stop medical questions” from her fellow celebrities during this year’s series.
The TV medic thought she was “getting away” with doing her regular job while rehearsing and performing on the BBC Latin and ballroom show, but the ‘Strictly’ celebs are glad to have a doctor in the house.
Speaking to OK! magazine, ‘EastEnders’ star Jamie Borthwick – who is also competing on the show – said: “I’ll just take each day as it comes, get my sleep and food in. We’ve got a doctor here looking after us, so any problems, any fainting or anything…”
Dr Punam added: “Yeah I thought I was getting away from it, but literally it’s been non-stop medical questions!”
The star is still working as a GP alongside taking part in the contest, but she feels it’s the “perfect balance of scrubs and sparkle”.
Punam – who is partnered with Gorka Marquez on the show – performed a Bollywood number as their Couple’s Choice for the first time in the show’s 20-year history last Saturday (05.10.24), she and finished second on the leaderboard.
During the show, Punam explained: “I never saw Indian girls dancing on mainstream television, so to be doing now, an Indian dance, on a platform like ‘Strictly’, it’s huge.
“I am such a proud Scottish Indian girl. In this couple’s choice, I really just want to bring my culture and my heritage to the forefront.”
‘Strictly’ judge Motsi Mabuse added: “That really moved me. I know so many people are watching you right now and feeling so proud to see this on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.”
Punam – who also appears as a TV medic on BBC One’s ‘Morning Live’ – has spoken to her co-stars who have previously taken part in ‘Strictly’ about the show.
She added: “I’ve got Gethin [Jones], I’ve got Sara Davies, Kimberley Walsh has done it.
“So, yeah, I have reached out to them. Dr Ranj [Singh] is another one. So it’s been good. I’ve just been like, help! And the one piece of advice consistently has been just enjoy it. It’s over before you know it.”

Katherine Ryan has never exercised over fear of ‘male violence’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Ryan has never exercised due to the “threat of male violence”.
The comic, 41, was on stage hosting the Glamour Women of the Year party at Raffles OWO Hotel in London when she said she hadn’t worked out in four decades – while hitting out at sexual predators and taking swipes at celebrity Ozempic users and the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sexual assault case.
She said: “I, myself, haven’t exercised once in over 40 years, due to the threat of male violence.”
The stand-up also referred to rumours Christina Aguilera, 43, is on celebrity-favourite weight loss drug Ozempic after images of the pop singer emerged looking suddenly skinny emerged.
She added about her aversion to working out: “Also, I don’t want to. Can’t I just be a feminist who steals medication from Type 2 diabetics to transform myself into Christina Aguilera?”
Referring to the jailing of Combs, 54, in New York as he awaits trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges under a federal indictment, the Canadian comic went on: “In a single year in the UK, 800,000 women have been victims of sexual assault.
“Surely P Diddy doesn’t have that kind of reach on the Internet?”
Katherine, who was named a Feminist Hero at the Glamour awards, also used her stint fronting the ceremony to rip into a “dangerous male comic” she is convinced is a sexual predator.
It comes after allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, were made against Russell Brand, 49, all of which he strongly denies.
Katherine appeared with the stand-up on Comedy Central’s ‘Roast Battle’ in 2018, when she reportedly put allegations to him that did not make the final cut of the show.
While Katherine has never mentioned Russell by name, at the Glamour awards she described a comic wearing “unnecessarily tight jeans” and a beanie hat indoors – both of which were staples of Russell’s wardrobe.
She said about appearing on the Roast show: “I accepted the gig but every time I had to speak to him I would say stuff like, ‘I’m not getting paid enough to be here, especially for how many times my face will be on the news when your victims come forward’ – and fun banter like that.”

Amanda Abbington taking daily ‘guidance’ from lawyer after BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ probe

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Abbington is taking daily “guidance” from her lawyer over her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bullying complaint.
The ‘Sherlock’ actress, 50, sparked a scandal for the BBC ballroom show when she alleged her professional dancer partner Giovanni Pernice, 34, targeted her with abuse during rehearsals – and made a sexual gesture to her backstage.
She got an apology this week from BBC bosses after they concluded a review into the Italian’s conduct, but in her first interview since the findings were published Amanda suggested she was considering further legal action.
Amanda told Newsnight host Victoria Derbyshire she was “taking guidance from my lawyer on a day to day basis” when asked how she will proceed now the report’s findings have been released.
She added: “There’s a 30-page report that me and my lawyers are still digesting. There are still things in there that are unresolved.”
The actor added she had a tearful summit with other former ‘Strictly’ contestants who had previously been coupled with Giovanni.
Amanda said she first raised concerns about the dance pro after “three or four days” on show, and said she invited the unnamed contestants to her house where they “all cried” and “burst into tears”.
She went on: “We just wanted to make sure that we weren’t on our own and thinking this had just happened to us.
“Everyone I spoke to all said the same thing – it wasn’t pleasant and it wasn’t what everyone else was going through in the other (rehearsal) rooms.”
The actress also said she lost “all sense of reality” while rehearsing with the dancer on last year’s ‘Strictly’ – adding: “It has been one of the worst years of my life. I have been through a lot. Women go through a lot.
“I have had to deal with a myriad of horrible things that have continued to happen just for complaining.”

Ian Hislop ‘spent day freaked out after he was told his taxi had been shot at’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ian Hislop is said to have spent a day “freaked out” after he was told his taxi had been shot at.
The Private Eye editor and ‘Have I Got News For You’ panellist, 64, was in the back of a black cab on Soho’s Dean Street, London, on Tuesday morning (01.10.24) when the driver said a bullet had struck the rear window after it shattered – but police have now put the incident down to a mechanical issue with the car.
A BBC source told the Evening Standard about Ian’s nervous wait to find out if he had been targeted by a gunman: “(He was) actually quite freaked out by it all. For nearly a whole day he genuinely thought he’d been shot at.”
Staff at Private Eye, known for its in-depth investigations into politicians and businesses, were also understood to be nervous after the events.
One told the Standard on Wednesday: “It hasn’t been a terribly funny 24 hours… it’s all been rather tense here.”
And the BBC insider added to the newspaper the filming of this week’s ‘Have I Got News For You’ will be a “fun one”.
No-one was injured in the incident at around 10am on Tuesday, and after reviewing CCTV footage and forensically examining the taxi, police have now concluded there is “no evidence of a firearms discharge at this time”.
Father-of-two Ian said in a statement he wanted to “thank everyone for their concern”, adding it was “greatly appreciated”.
He said: “The police investigating the incident in the taxi have now advised me that they have completed their forensic tests, have found no evidence of a firearm discharge and will be concentrating their investigations on indications that a mechanical fault caused the window to shatter.
“Thanks again to all concerned for their support and concern.”

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Saffron Barker rushed to hospital amid ‘tropical disease’ fear

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Saffron Barker was rushed to hospital amid fears she had been stricken with a “tropical disease”.
The 24-year-old, who was the first female social media influencer to make it onto the BBC show in 2019, posted a series of updates on her Instagram Stories on Thursday (03.10.24) showing her skin covered in a red rash, an IV drip coming from her arm and bloody bruises where blood had been drawn by medics.
She said in a caption alongside an image of her lying in bed in pyjama trousers: “Thank you so much for all your well wishes, after a week I finally feel somewhat normal again. The doctors thought I’d caught a tropical disease from a mosquito when I was away.
“I had all the symptoms being, rashes all over my body, headache, body aches, shooting pains in my body, temperature, sore throat and ears etc.”
In the next of three Instagram Story posts Saffron posted an image of a needle and drip hooked to her arm – and told fans she hadn’t contracted malaria.
She went on: “After getting my bloods taken turns out I didn’t have that but my white blood cells were half the number they should be so very low and therefore my whole body was trying to fight the infection.”
Against a shot of her arm covered in an angry rash, Saffron said: “This is what the rashes looked like all over my body.”
In a fourth post on her health scare she shared an image of her in the bath showing her arm with less of a rash.
She captioned it: “Today is the first day I have woken up and they are settling so feeling grateful.”
Saffron sook medical help earlier this year during a skiing holiday in January following a painful fall.
And in August, she defended herself when rumours began to swirl about her recent weight loss.
The YouTube star had travelled to the US in June to take a six-week acting course, and when she returned to the UK faced a flood of allegations over how skinny she looked.
She hit back in an online video: “I think it’s quite obvious that I’ve lost a lot of weight recently – well I say recently, but it’s been a gradual thing.
“My diet changed when I went to LA, for all the better. I don’t eat anywhere near as much sugar as I used to eat and I never felt so much better for it in my life.
“I’ve actually worked really hard, frickin’ hard.
“Apparently nowadays you can’t lose weight without getting liposuction or being on Ozempic.
“It’s so frustrating, this is the only time I’m going to address it.”

Kevin Smith wants Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for Mallrats 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Smith wants Sarah Michelle Gellar to play the late Shannen Doherty’s role in his ‘Mallrats’ sequel.
The 54-year-old filmmaker has long been working on a follow-up to the 1995 cult comedy and while he planned to shelve the project after the actress – who played Rene Mosier – lost her battle with breast cancer in July, he now wants ‘Twilight of the Mallrats’ to serve as a tribute to her and thinks it would be appropriate to have the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ star step in to honour her close friend.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Shannen’s closest friend was Sarah Michelle Gellar, and I worked with Sarah on ‘Masters of the Universe: Revelation’.
“So her being Shannen’s bestie and having already tried out for ‘Mallrats’ 30 years ago next year, I would ask Sarah to step in for Shannen if there’s a possibility that we get to make ‘Twilight of the Mallrats’.
“I think that’d be personally meaningful for her on some level because of her relationship with Shannen … She’d bring Shannen’s warmth with her, and it’s maybe the next best thing to having Shannen there.”
And Sarah is open to the possibility.
On The Hollywood Reporter’s Instagram post about Kevin’s suggestion, she commented: “Here for this idea!!”
The director recently expressed his hope that Universal will let go of their option for the sequel and allow him to shop the project to other studios.
He told Deadline: “The thing has been for years that, of course I’d love to make the Mallrats sequel as I’ve said many times. Any time I turn in a script, the good folks at Universal are like, ‘This is neither fast nor furious.’ So, we never go anywhere.
“At one point, we were gonna make a $5 million version of it through one division they used to have maybe, I don’t know, I forget what it was called, but like they did smaller straight to streaming or straight to video type movies.
“And then it kind of fell apart and we’ve tried to get it out of there but they’re like, you know, Universal has never released a title. But I think we’re going back to have a discussion again about like, look, you guys are never gonna do anything with this.
“Like, but we can and would and would and would love to. So can you let us take it out? We’re not asking Universal to finance it, but it’s just like, hey, can we have it so we can go out because I can get that movie financed in a heartbeat, ‘Mallrats 2’.
“So, fingers crossed the good folks at Universal go like, ‘You know what? We’re never gonna do anything with this. Go ahead.’
“I mean, it’s hysterical. There are times when I’ve dealt with folks at Universal to talk about a ‘Mallrats’ sequel and the people I deal with are like, ‘We have ‘Mallrats’?’ ”

Nick Knowles’ Strictly training is ‘tougher than rugby’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles’ training for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is “tougher than rugby”.
The 62-year-old TV presenter is among the famous faces competing for the glitterball trophy in the BBC series this year and he’s revealed rehearsing with his dancer partner Luba Mushtuk has been much more difficult than anything he’s experienced while playing his favourite sport.
He told The Times newspaper: “This is much tougher than rugby training.”
Nick went on to explain he’s lost more than two stone since he started training last month and it’s helped him become a much more “elegant” dancer.
He added: “I can feel myself transforming from a very heavy bloke lumbering around the room to somebody who is becoming lighter and more elegant on his feet.”
Nick nearly made an early exit from the series after suffering an arm injury while changing a tyre on his car, but he was given the all-clear to compete last weekend and managed to avoid elimination while Olympic swimmer Tom Dean went home.
The TV star said of being saved: “It was a big relief, much more than I expected. Two surprises since I started ‘Strictly’ are how much I care about getting the dance right, and how much I don’t want to let down my family and friends and dance partner.”
Nick went on to add: “For anybody at home watching there’s a genuine feeling of, ‘Why not? It’s never too late.’ I literally have never danced, I’m knackered from years of rugby injuries, and I’m not shaped like a dancer. If I can do it, everybody can.”
The remaining 14 couples will take to the dancefloor for a Movie Week special when ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on Saturday 5 October at 6:25pm, with the results show on Sunday 6 October at 7:15pm on BBC One.

Andrew Flintoff to host Bullseye reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff is to host a revival of ‘Bullseye’.
The 46-year-old former cricketer is taking the helm of the darts-based quiz show – which was presented in the 1980s and 90s by Jim Bowen and briefly revived in the mid-200s by Dave Spikey – for an upcoming Christmas special and couldn’t be happier with his first TV role since his horror ‘Top Gear’ crash.
He said in a statement: “I love the darts and ‘Bullseye’ was one of my favourite shows as a kid.
“I can’t quite believe I’ll get to host this Christmas special.
“You can’t beat a bit of Bully!”
If the Christmas special is a hit, it is hoped a full series will be commissioned and insiders are confident Freddie is the right choice to present the programme.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “This is the perfect role for Freddie to start a whole new chapter in his career and his fans will be thrilled to see him on our screens fronting such a well-loved programme.
“Few would have predicted the move but it’s a genius signing because Freddie has the same dry, Lancashire sense of humour and delivery as Jim.
“Though it remains to be seen whether he’ll continue Jim’s ‘super, smashing, great!’ catchphrase or if they’ll dole out jackpot prizes of speedboats to contestants who live in landlocked towns and cities.
“But they’re likely to keep the torturous practice of saying ‘Look at what you could’ve won’ before bringing out first prize to rub in the faces of the losing competitors.”
‘Bullseye’ first aired on ITV in 1981 and ran for 14 years with Jim – who died in 2014 aged 80 as host and the late Tony Green as commentator.
It was revived on Challenge TV in 2006, with Dave presenting, but dropped after just two series.

Sarah Paulson struggles to shake off ‘harrowing’ scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Paulson struggles to shake off “harrowing” scenes when she is making a horror movie.
The 49-year-old actress plays a mother trying to protect her two young children while living through devastating dust storms in 1930s Oklahoma in her latest film ‘Hold Your Breath’ and she’s revealed it was difficult to switch off at the end of filming because she’s not good at compartmentalising her work.
She told Deadline.com: “I wish I could say I was one of those people who knew how to compartmentalise. I’m not very good at it.
“So, I’m not a person who can kind of do a particularly harrowing scene or deal with something particularly upsetting and then just sort of go about figuring out what I’m gonna eat for dinner. I’m not very good at that.
“I need to get better at that because the consequence of course means I end up carrying some of it around longer than I would like to.”
She went on to add: “I wish I had a real answer of how I shake it because sometimes I don’t think that I do, I think it all just gets into the sort of nooks and crannies of my being and makes a house there.
“So, I’m not always the best at alleviating some of that. I mean, I could say, ‘Yeah, I take a bath,’ but that would sort of be a lie. I think some part of it is … it is a muscle, it’s like an acting muscle that I have.”
In the Hulu Original movie, Sarah plays “a woman who is trapped by increasingly perilous dust storms and is haunted by her past encounters with a threatening presence and takes extraordinary measures to protect her family.”
The movie was filmed in New Mexico and Sarah has revealed battling the dust every day was extremely difficult.
She told USA Today: “We had a specific hand signal that we would do if the dust was too much or I couldn’t actually see or if I got something in my eye.
“We got into a little bit of a back-and-forth about how dangerous vs. how hyper-real that they wanted to make [the scenes].
“And I was always like, ‘I just want you to push it, just put a little bit more wind on me, just a little bit more dirt in the air’ because the more real it could be for me, I thought the more truthful my performance would be.
“I’m just interested in authenticity. I’m interested in a kind of rigorous honesty in my work and in my life. And so sometimes with that comes some things you don’t always want, like a big ol’ piece of dirt in your eye.”

Gemma Collins reveals plans to become a foster mum: ‘There’s a lot of love I can give…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins wants to become a foster mum.
The 43-year-old reality star – who is engaged to Rami Hawash and is stepmother to his six-year-old Tristan – has been inspired to look into taking in a child living in care because her own mother Joan Collins, 80, was adopted in her youth.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Friday (04.10.24), she said: “There’s a lot of love I can give. I always make a good dinner!
“I saw [mum’s] adoption papers and it was so sweet, they’d put on there like ‘You need to sew her clothes’.
Latest statistics have shown that 12,500 foster carers are needed within England and Wales, and the cost-of-living crisis has meant that the amount of children in need of a home in the UK has risen by 14 percent in recent times.
The ‘TOWIE’ legend reminded viewers that there are “so many rooms that are spare in London and across the UK” as made her please for children within the country.
Gemma has previously opened up about her fertility struggles having endured three miscarriages, and a battle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in recent years.
Meanwhile, the former ‘Diva Forever’ star recently made an appearance on the BBC’s genealogy show ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ and discovered a long-lost cousin, who she is set to reunite with for dinner over the coming weekend.
Urging viewers to remember the simple things in life, Gemma said: “[Mum] remembered a cousin and we went on to find her, and she’s coming round this weekend for a curry. That is the wholesome values that so many people forget in today’s society, rushing around, this urgency culture.”
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant told the programme that finding her own family had made her feel “more complete” and she hopes to give that feeling back to a child in need.

Saffron Barker shares health update after being rushed to hospital

OHMYGOSSIP — Saffron Barker has shared a health update after fears that she had contracted a “tropical disease”.
The 24-year-old – who was the first female social media influencer to make it onto ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2019 – posted a series of updates on her Instagram Stories on Thursday (03.10.24) that showed her skin covered in a red rash, an IV drip coming from her arm and bruises where blood had been drawn by medics.
The TV star had been rushed to hospital after experiencing these symptoms after a trip to the Maldives and it was suspected she had contracted a “tropical disease”.
Saffron has now told her fans on social media that she is doing better and was grateful for the well wishes.
She said on Instagram: “Thank you so much for all your well wishes, after a week I finally feel somewhat normal again. The doctors thought I’d caught a tropical disease from a mosquito when I was away.

Giovanni Pernice sees ‘no reason’ why he won’t be back on Strictly Come Dancing next year

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice is sure he will return to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ next year.
The 34-year-old professional dancer was axed from the lineup of this year’s competition when he was subject to a series of allegations of “vile abuse” from former dance partner Amanda Abbington, 50, and after the broadcaster upheld just six of the 17 complaints, he has reportedly assumed that he will be back on the dancefloor in 2025.
A source told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “Giovanni has not given up on appearing on the ‘Strictly’ stage. As far as he is concerned, he has been cleared and there is no reason why he couldn’t return. He has told his pals he is hoping to be back next year and is keen to speak to the BBC about it. He still feels very much part of the fold, and has a massive fan base who would no doubt welcome him back. But of course the final decision will be made by BBC bosses.”
Giovanni apologised to ‘Sherlock’ star Amanda earlier this week after BBC bosses concluded a review into the Italian’s conduct, but in Amanda’s first interview since the findings were published, Amanda suggested she was considering further legal action.
Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas hopes “everyone can move on” from the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bullying scandal.
Commenting on the BBC’s report at a book event on Tuesday (01.10.24), Shirley said: “I don’t condone bullying I’ve been through it myself.
“So if things aren’t right or need addressing, I feel for the person that wants them addressed. And I think that’s a big, important part that everybody gets to say their thing. But now the investigation is over and everybody can move on.”
She added: “The eight years I’ve been on the show, it’s been great safeguarding. I’ve always felt taken care of when the bullying got really bad.”
The BBC also issued Amanda with a formal apology and thanked her for “coming forward” with her concerns.
In a statement, the BBC said: “We have assessed the complaints and we have upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made.
“We want to apologise to Amanda Abbington and to thank her for coming forward and taking part. We know this would not have been an easy thing to do.”
The report found that some of the language used by Giovanni towards Amanda could be “belittling” and agreed with the ‘Sherlock’ actress that his feedback was, at times, “overly negative”and that he had used profanity during rehearsals.
The report noted after reviewing several hours of rehearsal footage as part of an official investigation that there were two moments of “inappropriate behaviour of sexual banter in the workplace”, which were found to simply have been “made and received as jokes” between the pair.
Amanda’s complaint that he sent her a video on WhatsApp which she deemed to be inappropriate was also not upheld.

Dame Maureen Lipman considering surprising name change after engagement

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maureen Lipman is considering a name change.
The 78-year-old actress recently got engaged to partner David Turner, also 78, and belives that changing her moniker to be more in line with his original name would be rather suitable for the billing on a theatre.
She is quoted by Alison Boshoff’s column in the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: “His original name was Truskolaski. And I think “Mo Truskolaski” in lights for ‘The Importance Of Being Earnest’… I think that would be grand.
“I’ve never really enjoyed my name, but I’m just too lazy to do anything about changing it.”
The ‘Coronation Street ‘star revealed that she is set to wed her business consultant boyfriend David after she popped the question on a train.
Writing in The Spectator, Maureen said: “Later that night my partner David and I decided to tell our children that, with a combined age of 156, we are going to get married.
“‘In truth I had been rather against the ‘M’ word, but on a train coming back from Edinburgh he mentioned that it was the minor festival of Tu B’Av – a day when a Jewish woman can ask a man to marry her.
“Unable to resist the gag, I slid under the table separating us onto one knee and asked him for his hand. To my surprise and slight panic, he gave it.”
Maureen was previously married to TV scriptwriter Jack Rosenthal for 30 years until his death in 2004.
They had daughter Amy, 50, and son Adam, 48, together, while David – who Maureen revealed she was dating in 2023 – has three children from a previous relationship.
Writing about how their children received the news of their upcoming nuptials, Maureen wrote: “All reactions were warm, and all were individual.
“One child said that he needed time ‘to process it’. We broke the news to another as he slid leaves into a new dining table, transforming the scene into a Jack Rosenthal play – one with, I like to think, a happy ending.”

The picture will follow a former Ranger (Ritchson) who returns to his small hometown to find his long-lost father.
While there, he meets a doctor who is trying to find a balance between her own life as a single mother-of-two and a “reclusive old man with a mysterious past”, leading to surprising connections being made and the beginning of a journey towards belonging.
As well as starring in the movie, the ‘Reacher’ actor is due to produce the project through his company AllyCat Entertainment alongside Sparks’ longtime producing partner Theresa Park.
While the film has its leading star and production ticked off, there is currently no release date or director attached to the project.
Ritchson is best known for his action roles in Prime Video’s TV show ‘Reacher’ and Universal’s ‘Fast X’, though he took on a more serious role in the drama ‘Ordinary Angels’, which tells the true story of a widowed father who is supported by a Kentucky community as his critically-ill daughter requires a transplant.
Reflecting on the film, ’The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ star said he intended to play more “historical figures” in the future.
He told MovieWeb: “I love the action space. I mean, it’s kind of really my bread and butter and probably always will be. It’s just, I’m built for it. So, there’s a lot of that ahead in my future, and I’m looking forward to all those projects.
“But when you have the opportunity to tell a true story or play a historical figure, I mean, it’s really a great gift to an artist like myself, and it’s a huge challenge and a huge risk.
“And you really want to be authentic in those moments and honour their journey. But it really is like kind of the highest calling, I think, as an actor. So, I do look out for a lot of those roles.”
