Zara McDermott ‘will need a miracle’ to advance on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Cole thinks   Zara McDermott will need a “miracle” to progress much further on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 47-year-old dancer – who previously starred on the BBC show – has insisted that Zara is “not a dancer” and he doesn’t expect her to go much further on the current series.
Brendan told Sky Bingo: “She’s not a dancer, she doesn’t feel it. She’s a beautiful girl but doesn’t create beauty on the dance floor.
“There are a few in the bottom of the competition that are kind of hanging on.
“You can’t have everybody being amazing. She’s not going to go too much further unless a miracle happens.”
Zara, 26, found herself in the dreaded dance-off over the weekend, and although she managed to survive, the blonde beauty acknowledged that she has a lot of work to do.
The TV star told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I know I need to put in the extra effort because of my lack of experience – I need to go that extra mile.”
Zara has been partnered with Graziano Di Prima on the show, and she’s determined to make the most of his expertise.
Despite this, Zara conceded that she’s “not the most natural dancer”.
She shared: “Literally I am soaking in every single second … I don’t have the most natural rhythm, I’m not the most natural dancer.”
Zara is also determined to listen to the ‘Strictly’ judges and learn from her mistakes.
She said: “They’re not trying to break you, they’re trying to make you … they want to see you’ve listened to them and taken it on for the following week so that’s all I can do really.”

Jay Blades broke ‘a lot’ of hearts as a young man

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades broke “a lot” of hearts during his younger years.
The ‘Repair Shop’ presenter has revealed that he once dated two sisters at the same time.
The 53-year-old star told the ‘Rosebud’ podcast: “We’re talking about lots of girls. There were a lot of broken hearts along the way.
“There was even one point where I was going out with two sisters, and they lived in the same house.
“It’s crazy – imagine that. I told them not to tell each other, and they didn’t.
“I think I had another girl as well. I was really bad.
“They came round to my house at different times. I would say to one of them I was somewhere else, and I wasn’t.”
“I did make them laugh.
“We’d go out partying, mainly reggae and ska, two-tone they were playing, and then someone took me to a soul party and there were more women than there was at the reggae.
“And I said to myself, ‘Hold on a minute, I’m missing a trick here, there’s all men at that party and there’s all women here’. I just went to soul parties from there.”
Jay claimed that his £two-timing£ was as coping mechanism for his poor relationship with his mum, who resented him for being so similar to his dad.
He said: “I started two-timing probably when I was about 12 or 13. That’s when I was very naughty.
“The reason why, and I figured this out later, is because I was looking for that mother figure.
“I didn’t have it with my mum, there wasn’t a real connection.
“There wasn’t motherly love from my mum, and I kind of understand – because when I got to meet my dad, when I was 21, I looked very similar to him.
“So there must be this thing where she’s been kicked out of the family house, this person has taken the money, he’s lied to her, now she’s got this child that looks the spitting image of him who she has to look after. So that must be a tough thing.”

Adam Thomas nearly quit Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas nearly withdrew from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ amid concerns about his mental health.
The 35-year-old actor has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis – which can lead to swollen and stiff joints – and Adam’s wife wife Caroline has now admitted that his participation was “touch and go” at one stage.
Caroline – who has been married to the actor since 2017 – told the Daily Star newspaper: “We’re really excited because at one point it was touch and go if he could do the show. It’s been a really tough year. Adam couldn’t get out of bed in January – he was on crutches. It’s been horrific.
“I didn’t know what to do for the best and that’s when we sought help. He tried with so many doctors. I snapped and said, ‘I can’t see you like this anymore’. Even getting downstairs was difficult.”
Adam – who has Teddy, nine, and Elsie, five, with Caroline – couldn’t do any meaningful exercise at one point in time.
Caroline shared: “It really affected his mental health not being able to play football with Teddy – it broke his heart. But him speaking up about arthritis has helped other people.”
Despite this, Adam has been able to take to the ‘Strictly’ dancefloor, and the actor previously revealed he’s determined to get fit during his time on the BBC show.
He said on Instagram: “The reason I signed up to Strictly is because I just want to be able to move again, get fit and do it, all with a smile on my face!
“It really couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I’m a firm believer of everything happening for a reason, and I know the journey I’ve been on was meant to happen, to never take small things in life for granted! Like going for a run, playing with my kids and just being able to walk with no pain! (sic)”

‘It’s quite revealing’: Morfydd Clark is fascinated by the horror genre

OHMYGOSSIP — Morfydd Clark loves the “revealing” nature of the horror genre.
The 33-year-old actress stars in the new creepy flick ‘Starve Acre’ and is keen to explore how the art form has different impacts on viewers after previously featuring in the psychological horror movie ‘Saint Maud’.
Morfydd told The Hollywood Reporter: “This is what I always just love about horror in general, because everybody has their own particular thing that makes them be like, ‘Oh’.
“I like that about ‘Black Mirror’ as well. I love asking people what their most horrific ‘Black Mirror’ is because it’s quite revealing. I think horror is really interesting like that.”
‘Starve Acre’ tells the story of how a family’s peaceful rural life is thrown into chaos when their son starts acting strangely and Morfydd found it “quite eerie” to be shooting the project in an isolated house.
The ‘Rings of Power’ star said: “Yeah, I think you definitely do get creeped out. And that house we were in, it’s in the valley so you couldn’t see anything but the fields around you. There almost wasn’t a horizon despite being in the middle of nowhere, which was quite eerie. You really did feel like you were trapped in openness.
“And those kinds of sets are such a weird mixture of having to be very serious at times, but also you’re doing ridiculous things – everyone exhausted but elated and hysteria is only like a second away. And we also had a lot of animals.”
Morfydd explained that she relished the “bonding experience” of making the indie film – which also features former ‘Doctor Who’ star Matt Smith.
She said: “There’s something really special about indies, particularly ones that are filmed in one location.
“As I said, all the crew and cast could fit into one room and you do become incredibly close and you’re in your own kind of cabin fever experience. It has a particular bonding experience.”

Alicia Silverstone starring in erotic thriller The Bird and the Bee

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Silverstone is to star in the erotic thriller ‘The Bird and the Bee’.
The 47-year-old actress has been cast opposite Karl Glusman in the sexually charged picture from director Justin Kelly.
The film wrapped production this week after being shot under a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement amid the ongoing actors strike. It tells the story of a successful executive (Silverstone) as she fights back against a scorned young lover (Glusman) after he takes his obsession too far.
The script has been penned by ‘Atlantis’ actor Jack Donnelly while producers include Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman.
Kelly has described ‘The Bird and the Bee’ as “a unique take on a twisted romance that I’m thrilled to bring to life because it’s not only a great story but also an exciting departure from my previous films”.
The director told Deadline: “I’m honoured to work with the iconic Alicia Silverstone for the second time (after ‘King Cobra’) as well as the uber-talented Karl Glusman – their on-screen chemistry is electric.
“A big thank you to Yale Productions for our third collaboration together, SAG for blessing us with an interim agreement, and my incredible cast and crew. I cannot wait to share this film with the world.”
Kelly also reserved praise for Donnelly’s “brilliant” script.
He said: “I immediately pictured the look and vibe of the many great 80s and 90s erotic thrillers – stylish, moody and sexy.”
Producers Levine and Beckerman added: “We are thrilled to be working with Justin on a third film. His presence is always a sure sign of an artistic and thought-provoking story with a depth to every shot that has become a signature of his work.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘This Morning’ staff are unhappy that Holly Willoughby didn’t get a “big send-off”.
The 42-year-old star recently quit the ITV show after 14 years, and staff are said to be annoyed about the manner of her departure.
A source told OK!: “The staff really didn’t see Holly’s exit coming.
“It’s such a huge shame she didn’t get the big send-off she deserved after 14 years on the sofa, but I’m sure they will all celebrate her time on the show privately.”
The cast and crew regard Holly as a great professional and they’re sad to see her leave the show.
The insider shared: “Holly is so professional and great at her job, but she is also hilarious.”
Earlier this week, stand-in host Craig Doyle paid tribute to Holly on ‘This Morning’, saying that the cast and crew “loved” working with her.

Chris Packham felt suicidal after his dog died

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Packham was left feeling suicidal after his dog passed away.
The 62-year-old TV presenter – who is best known for hosting ‘Springwatch’ – admits that he contemplated taking his own life after his beloved dog died.
During an appearance on the ‘Men in Mind’ podcast, Chris shared: “I was suicidal … but I didn’t have enough pills. That’s what it came down to.”
The TV star turned to therapy sessions in a bid to overcome his struggles.
He said: “It was like I got hit by a train. It was like I was winded, I could barely breathe because of everything that was coming out and it had been locked up for so long.”
Despite this, Chris’ other pets actually kept him going.
He explained: “I’d started to spend a lot of time in France, and I was on my own there for quite long periods, and on another occasion, I came very close to killing myself.
“And what kept me alive were the dogs, I just looked down and I thought, ‘I can’t leave them’. It was the fact that there wasn’t anyone else at that point who could have loved them as much as I did.”
Meanwhile, Chris previously admitted that he struggled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the veteran presenter also found the time to “appreciate” wildlife.
He said on ‘Springwatch’ at the time: “There’s not a morning I don’t wake up and think, ‘This isn’t happening.’
“There’s never been a more important time for us to take the time to appreciate the wildlife outside our window.”

Ross Kemp ‘never planned his career’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp has joked that he’s struggled to “hold a job down”.
The 59-year-old star has enjoyed an unusually varied life in the TV business, which has included working for every major UK broadcaster.
Ross – who is perhaps best known for playing Grant Mitchell on ‘EastEnders’ – told ITV News: “I don’t think anyone really plans their life – I’ve had a number of jobs over the years and could not hold a job down!
“I started off as an actor and went to drama school then ended up in ‘EastEnders’ for ten years and then I went in to work for ITV for four years and Sky for 15 years.
“Now I’m back at the BBC sometimes, sometimes ITV, sometimes Channel 5.”
The actor has written a new book called ‘Ross Kemp – Take Nothing For Granted’, and he enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane for the project.
Ross shared: “There are some funny moments of me ramming my father’s car into my girlfriend’s father’s front porch. That relationship ended there and then!
“But from growing up in Essex and living in Rainham to getting my first Equity (actors union) card in Southend, Essex has played a big part in my life.
“I played rugby for the county and I boxed for the county.”
Despite his fame and success, Ross has always remained in touch with his roots.
The actor – who has also enjoyed significant success as a documentary-maker – said: “I’m still very much in touch with my mates that I had fun with.
“I’m still friends with those guys and we’ve all gone on to have different careers. That Essex bond is very strong.”

Jeff Brazier isn’t watching Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Brazier watched the new series of ‘Big Brother’ for “two minutes” before he switched it off.
The 44-year-old presenter – whose ex-partner, Jade Goody, rose to fame on the reality TV show – has revealed that he wasn’t impressed with the rebooted programme.
Jeff told Metro.co.uk: “I switched on for two minutes after watching ‘Celeb SAS’, which we never miss. That’s our favourite. And there’s some contention, they didn’t know they was putting someone up for public vote and it caused great contention between the two individuals.
“It caused great discomfort for the girl that had to vent in the diary room and it’s not the sort of thing I want to watch. I don’t enjoy seeing drama like that.”
The TV star admitted that the reboot “might not be for [him]”.
Jeff said: “For some people it might be what they want to view in an evening. I want good energy rather than see someone go through emotional distress.
“They’ll have a lot of fun in there and I’m sure they’re relationship will improve, but as a snapshot, it might not be for me.”
Jade Goody, Jeff’s ex-partner, shot to stardom on ‘Big Brother’ back in 2002.
Jade died of cancer in March 2009, aged 27, and Jeff admits that it transformed his approach to life.
Jeff – who had sons Bobby and Freddie with the reality star – previously said: “I’ve morphed into something quite different from your average dad. I’m probably far more sensitive to their feelings and I’m far more aware of when they need emotional support.
“There are little side effects of my situation where you become really good at doing quite a lot on your own.
“I’ve got an ability to push myself beyond tiredness because if I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done.”

This Morning team ‘understand why Holly Willoughby resigned’

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘This Morning’ team “completely understands” why Holly Willoughby quit the show.
The 42-year-old star recently announced that she was walking away from the day-time programme after 14 years, and the cast and crew can understand her decision.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Cast and crew have all had a tough year but are beyond professional, and so the overriding feeling, despite the sadness, is the show must go on.
“Everyone completely understands why Holly has quit.
“There is no denying it’s been a tough year for her too.
“But the events of the last week will no doubt have pushed her over the edge to make such a tough decision.”
Holly announced her resignation earlier this week.
The presenter said on Instagram: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to ‘This Morning’.
“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.”
Meanwhile, it’s also been claimed that the behind-the-scenes team at ‘This Morning’ wanted Holly to receive a “big send-off”.
A source told OK!: “The staff really didn’t see Holly’s exit coming.
“It’s such a huge shame she didn’t get the big send-off she deserved after 14 years on the sofa, but I’m sure they will all celebrate her time on the show privately.”

Samia Longchambon relieved to have dodged serial killer storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Samia Longchambon gets “nervous” when there’s a killer on ‘Coronation Street’ in case it means she’s set for the axe.
The 41-year-old actress – who has played Maria Connor since 2000 – admitted she was relieved when she was told she wouldn’t be involved in the plot surrounding murderer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) because whenever there’s a storyline featuring a string of deaths, the cast all fear they’ll be the victims.
She told the Daily Star newspaper’s HotTV column: “It’s always really exciting when there’s a big storyline but we all get quite nervous, absolutely.
“I’m glad I haven’t been involved in the Stephen Reid storyline. I was told I wouldn’t be part of it so I have been able to watch it like everyone else.”
After 23 years on the cobbles, Samia doesn’t have any desire to leave the soap.
She said: “At Corrie a lot of the cast are still the same as when I started and a lot of the crew are still there, so there is a family atmosphere. It’s just a lovely place to work.”
And the actress is proud of the “impact” the programme can have on viewers’ lives.
She said: “The show has an impact on people’s lives. When we cover big issues, it’s nice that people can relate to them. It helps people, which is so nice.”
Samia previously admitted she feels like the “older guard” on the show now and has been offering advice to her younger co-stars.
She said: “We feel like the older guard now in the green room. We’ve got all of our young, gorgeous new cast.
“When us old timers go in we’re like, ‘Oh my God we feel so old.’
“Me and Mikey [North, Gary Windass], the other week, we were giving Millie Gibson some advice about how to start a pension because Bill Tarmey gave me and Alan [Halsall, Tyrone Dobbs] that advice when I joined.
“So, we were like, ‘We need to pass this wisdom onto you.’ So now she’s got her pension sorted.”

Helen Skelton struggled to feel ‘sexy’ on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton struggled to feel “sexy” during her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 40-year-old mum-of-three took part in the BBC TV talent show last year just months after splitting from her husband of eight years Richie Myler, and Helen has admitted she suffered a crisis of confidence when working with her dance partner Gorka Marquez.
In her new book ‘In My Stride’, Helen explained: “In week two, Gorka asked me why I didn’t feel sexy. It was an awkward question that immediately made me cringe.
“Why ask me that?! I was just there for the banter. I have never been sexy, I was the cute and funny type. He was asking a woman with three children under six, whose husband had just left her and was with another woman, TO BE SEXY. I thought: ‘Who would feel good about themselves in that scenario?’”
However, Helen did learn to embrace her sexy side after learning a dance to ‘Cabaret’ song ‘Mein Herr’ in which she channeled the character of Sally Bowles.
She added: “We had found a dance which let me own my own moment and be the boss.”
During one of the shows, Gorka alluded to Helen’s struggle on camera when he told her: “I know you have been having a difficult time and you may not feel like you are good enough or beautiful.
“Even if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you, your family believes in you. Everyone here believes in you …
“It doesn’t matter how many times anyone tells you to believe in yourself, it’s only you that can make the change. You are an amazing woman, mother and incredible dancer, so believe in yourself.”
Helen went on to finish in second place behind champion Hamza Yassin, and she later insisted appearing on the show helped her deal with “dark days”.
During an appearance on TV show ‘Lorraine’, she said: “I just wanted to make my kids proud. So we didn’t quite bring home that trophy but we made memories that would make a lifetime …
“If I could bottle that atmosphere from Saturday, it’ll see me through any dark days. It was just the most wonderful feeling. It just goes to show what happens when you surround yourself with good people.”

Jeymes Samuel’s Book of Clarence ‘littered’ with Easter eggs for next film

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeymes Samuel’s ‘The Book of Clarence’ is “littered” with clues about his next movie.
The 44-year-old musician-and-filmmaker made his directorial debut with ‘The Harder They Fall’, which he has revealed featured a number of teasers about his biblical comedy-drama, and so he’s done the same with the LaKeith Stanfield-starring movie and fans should keep their eyes and ears open for hints about what will happen in his upcoming prequel to the Western.
He told Deadline’s Breaking Baz culmn: “I’ve laid the hugest Easter eggs all through ‘The Book of Clarence’ which takes us into the the movie I’m going to do immediately after. And it’s for the audience to find…and watch as much as listen.”
Jeymes took a break from working on his ‘The Harder They Fall’ prequel because of the Hollywood writers’ strike, but now that it’s over, he’s ready to get back to the project.
He said: “Our good friends at Netflix I know are along for the ride. So it’s something that I’m sketching out.”
Jeymes took inspiration from 1959 religious epic ‘Ben Hur’ for ‘The Book of Clarence’.
He explained: “I was drawn to the stories that were Bible adjacent, so not necessarily the ones about the Bible, but where the Bible was running alongside them, like ‘Ben-Hur’…
”They kind of take a bit of liberty with the Bible because the story runs alongside it. Those are the ones I was drawn to most.
“I know I can tell a really, really cool tale that we can all relate to,” he tells me. “A man trying to prove he’s a nobody, a man that believes he can do anything. And his beliefs get him into trouble with the neighborhood terrorists, so to speak.
“Then he ends up on a path of self-discovery, redemption, and awakening.I know I could tell a great story like that, but set in a biblical era, it would just be something to marvel at.
”Yeah, this is Jeymes Samuel’s ‘Ben-Hur’. It being my first foray into the Bible era, I had to throw everything. I wanted to throw in chariot races, I wanted gladiator fights, I wanted to throw a nightclub scene. The hoods are in the building having a party.”

Baz Luhrmann expands Australia into TV series using unseen footage

OHMYGOSSIP — Baz Luhrmann has expanded ‘Australia’ into a six-part TV series TV series using footage rescued from the cutting room floor.
The director’s World War 2 romance starred Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman was released in 2008, and now Baz has brought the film back to life 15 years later by turning it into a TV series called ‘Faraway Downs’ which has been expanded from the film’s original 165 minute run-time.
Luhrmann said of the project: “I was inspired to re-approach my film ‘Australia’ to create ‘Faraway Downs’ because of the way episodic storytelling has been reinvigorated by the streaming world.
“With over 2m feet of film from the original piece, my team and I were able to revisit anew the central themes of the work.”
He will debut ‘Faraway Downs’ at the inaugural SXSW Sydney Screen festival later this month and the director says he’s honoured to be able to showcase the project Down Under.
Luhrmann added: “I am honoured to world premiere ‘Faraway Downs’ in Australia, the place that has inspired me and my work my entire life, and with a partner like SXSW who deeply recognises the intersection of film, television and music with storytelling.”
The TV series will air on Hulu in the US and on the Disney Plus streaming service from November 26.
In the film, Nicole plays a British aristocrat who heads to Australia to sell her Faraway Downs cattle farm, and Hugh plays a livestock drover hired to escort her to the ranch.
However, Nicole has previously insisted she struggled to sit through the film and can’t “feel proud” of her performance in it.
Speaking on Australian radio in 2009, she explained: “I can’t look at this movie and be proud of what I’ve done. I sat there and I looked at [husband] Keith [Urban] and went: ‘Am I any good in this movie?’ But I thought Brandon Walters [who plays Nullah] and Hugh Jackman were wonderful. It’s just impossible for me to connect to it emotionally at all.”

‘I wanted it to feel like a final send-off’: Kevin Greutert regards Saw X as Jigsaw’s farewell

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Greutert is viewing ‘Saw X’ as a farewell to Jigsaw.
The 58-year-old filmmaker has helmed the latest movie in the horror franchise and considers it to be a goodbye to Tobin Bell’s iconic antagonist John Kramer/Jigsaw.
Kevin told The Hollywood Reporter: “We’ll just have to see what the future of ‘Saw’ is.
“There are so many directions we could go, but for me, there’s no obvious one coming out of this film. I really wanted it to feel like a kind of final send-off for the Jigsaw character, but never say never.”
In a first for the series, ‘Saw X’ has been praised by critics and Greutert thinks that the gamble to get the audience to empathise with the cancer-stricken Jigsaw has paid off.
He said: “We took a risk by really fleshing out John Kramer’s character. It’s contrary to the ‘Jaws’ and ‘Alien’ wisdom that the less you see of your monster, the better. If this movie had a chance, it was going to be by going deep into John Kramer.”
Kevin had a good feeling about the movie even though no traditional test screenings took place.
He explained: “We didn’t do any kind of traditional test screening. We really never do on the ‘Saw’ films out of concern that spoilers are going to leak out.
“I can say that when I first started showing scenes to the producers and to Lionsgate, their reactions were really encouraging. And then, when the film was finally cut together and people started seeing it, I felt pretty good. I felt like it was going to be great.”
Kevin added: “And even in the preparation stage, when I was hiring crew members and showing candidates the script, some of them knew nothing about ‘Saw’, but you could feel their enthusiasm for it. So you could see at the script stage that it was going to be pretty cool.”

‘We might do one more adventure’: Sir Patrick Stewart pleads for another Star Trek movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Patrick Stewart hopes to make another ‘Star Trek’ film.
The 83-year-old star has played the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in various film and TV projects in the sci-fi franchise since 1987 and has set his sights on another big-screen adventure.
Speaking to Deadline, Patrick said: “Although I never anticipated there would be a series called ‘Star Trek: Picard’, I am very enthusiastic that we might do one more adventure.
“And I think it would be best if it were a film. As when ‘Next Generation’ came to an end, we then made four films.”
The ‘X-Men’ actor continued: “Now, I’m not suggesting that but I think given how different all of the principal characters are in ‘Picard’ everyone was changed by the passage of time.
“And this was Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman talking to me when they pitched ‘Picard’ and about our lives have changed in 25 years.
“So, I would like to see the ensemble of us finding a more significant way of saying goodbye.”
Despite his wishes, Patrick explained that a new movie is yet to be “agreed”.
He said: “We’ll see. Nobody has yet agreed to that, but I’m quietly working away.”
Stewart has written his new memoir ‘Making It So’ and explained how he got in touch with former ‘Star Trek’ colleagues to make sure that his recollection of events was correct.
He said: “I reached out on occasions. I did. I think primarily to my ‘Star Trek’ colleagues, to say, am I right that this happened then? These were the circumstances and they’ve been lovely.
“Of course. I have a beautiful relationship with all the principal actors who were with me in ‘Next Generation’. And it continues and grows stronger and better with every year that passes and returning to work with them as I did for the three seasons of ‘Picard’. Part of the fact was that we filmed season 2 and season 3 back-to-back. So that was 20 episodes without a break in between.”
