Big Brother’s Imogen Thomas reveals her mother’s shock diagnosis: ‘We just don’t want to believe it’

OHMYGOSSIP — Imogen Thomas’ mother has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
The 41-year-old reality star took to social media to reveal her mum Janette was diagnosed with the incurable condition, which affects the brain and nerves, six months ago.
She wrote on Instagram: “There is no easy way to say this. Six months ago- Our mum was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND). For those who are not aware of MND it’s an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time. It’s rapidly progressing, life-threatening condition that affects six people in the UK every single day. The worst part is there’s no cure. It’s been a journey we never expected and hoped it would never be. (sic)”
The former ‘Big Brother’ star compared her mother’s plight to a current ‘Coronation Street’ storyline in which Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has been battling the disease, and she admitted a recent episode had “struck a chord” with her family as she saw their circumstances reflected back to her on the ITV1 soap opera.
She added: “Wednesday’s ‘Coronation Street’ storyline featuring Paul and Billy struck a chord we never expected. It felt like watching our own emotional rollercoaster, the ups and downs of trying to pin down what’s going on.”
Imogen – who shared the news alongside a Reel of family photos accompanied by the Sia track ‘Unstoppable’ – admitted she and her family had gone through a series of costly trips to Harley Street only for the condition to be repeatedly misdiagnosed.
The star also admitted she and her sister Alana are still in “disbelief” at the news, and urged her fans to get in touch if they are going through something similar.
She said: “Can you believe we went through three misdiagnoses? Spent a fortune in Harley Street to be told anything but MND. We even sent my mum to rehab in Leeds for a month believing she would make a miraculous recovery as she was told she had FND [Functional Neurologic Disorders] which is a neurological disorder. Looking back now her determination during rehab was incredible.
“My sister and I are heartbroken and still in disbelief. It’s hard to wrap our heads around. We just don’t want to believe it.
“My mum has some great friends. We would love to connect with others in the same situation to share experiences and support each other. Life is short and precious. We are grabbing it with both hands for as long as we can.
“As I said above my mum and I would love to connect with anyone experiencing the same as us.”

Love Island ‘axes Aftersun for All Stars series’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island: All Stars’ bosses have axed ‘Aftersun’.
The hit ITV2 dating show will return to screens on January 15 featuring stars from previous series, but insiders have revealed that its companion show – which aired live every Sunday evening and featured celebrity guests, former Islanders, and a studio audience – will not return alongside the new show, and host Maya Jama will interview eliminated contestants from outside the South African villa.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Bosses want the new series to feel and look really different from the regular series, and this time around, when islanders leave the villa, they will be greeted by host Maya Jama upon their exit who will grill them for all the goss fresh from the firepit.
“It means Maya will have even more screentime which will thrill viewers, who can’t get enough of her, and also that there will be loads more reaction from the All-Stars the second they get dumped.”
However, the insider insisted ‘Aftersun’ will “absolutely return” along with the regular version of the series later this year, but bosses are treating the ‘All Stars’ show as if it is a “completely new” series.
The insider added: “This isn’t the end of ‘Aftersun’ though, it will absolutely be back. The difference with ‘All Stars’, however, is that it’s almost like a completely new show, so producers wanted that to be reflected in how the exit interviews are done too.”
It is thought Maya’s live interviews will still feature a live studio audience, with free tickets available to apply for via the Applause Store website.
The news comes just one day after insiders revealed that ITV bosses have lifted the usual social media ban for contestants for the new series, because they are already in the public eye to start with.
An insider told MailOnline: “For the ‘All Stars’ series it was decided that Islanders should have the choice as to whether or not they want to stay active on social media.
“The feeling was that because they have all experienced life in the spotlight, and also have management advising them, they are already aware of the potential pitfalls and negatives associated with social media.
“Most of them have had at least a year of living in the limelight so will hopefully be able to handle what being famous throws at them.”

Ex-Coronation Street star devastated as loved one passes away

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Coronation Street’ star Chris Fountain has been left devastated after his grandfather passed away.
The 36-year-old actor – who previously played Tommy Duckworth in the ITV soap – took to Instagram to share a black and white photograph of him and his grandfather.
He wrote in the caption: “Goodnight old pal [broken-hearted emoji].”
Chris often updated his Instagram followers about fun times he had with his granddad.
In September, the pair took a trip on the Northern Belle train, a luxury train which operates around Britain, and his described his grandfather as his “best pal” after the pair enjoyed a “chuffing lovely day out”.
He wrote at the time: “Me and my best pal, my Grandad, had a chuffing lovely day out on the Northern Belle Train!
“We’ve actually been on it before after winning a trip on family fortunes years ago but we always said we’d do it again, and we did!!
“Creating more priceless memories. My grandad has always been my best mate whom I cherish dearly and I absolutely love our trips away together. (sic)”
In July, Chris told how he had developed an “untouchable level of resistance” after several setbacks.
The star was sacked from ‘Corrie’ back in 2013 after a video of him rapping about rape was leaked online, and in 2022 he told how he had suffered a mystery stroke.
But now, Chris insists he can take on anything.
He told Scott Thomas’s ‘Learning As I Go’ podcast: “I’ve developed a level of resistance that is untouchable now.
“The amount of stuff that’s happened, you can keep throwing it at me and I’m going to keep getting up.”

Susanna Reid reveals why she has given up alcohol: ‘There’s more reasons not to drink!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid has given up alcohol for the sake of her skin.
The 53-year-old presenter believes people need a “proper motivation” to partake in Dry January and after being told by a doctor that alcohol was the reason behind her skin issues, and she has found that staying sober has been a “brilliant external motivator” to keep going.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “Lots of people are doing Dry January and you really need a proper motivation for doing it. If you have a vague ‘Oh, I shouldn’t drink’, it’s hard to stick to it.
“You need a ‘why’ to do it. And my why was a number of things.
“But one of them was – I kept getting breakouts on my skin. And my doctor said it was because alcohol dilates your blood vessels and so you get more of a blood rush to the skin, you get that flushed look.
“I was prone to spots, breakouts, rosacea. Every time someone said ‘Oh, just have one’, I would think, ‘I don’t want one on my skin!’ It was a brilliant external motivator.”
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ host admitted some other benefits of giving up alcohol have included rapid weight loss, and she is now in something of a “virtuous circle” as she continues to feel better and better as a result of her abstinence.
She said: “I think when you’re getting up in the morning, you need a clear head. Lots of us tend not to have an alcoholic drink the night before a shift but I just found that even if I had a drink at the weekend, it was taking longer to flush it through. And I just didn’t like that feeling of hangxiety.
“Also, I lost quite a lot of weight. White wine in particular is known as liquid cake. It’s just so many calories in a glass!
“Do it for a month, see the effects it has on your skin, see the effects it has on your general health and once you start to see them, it’s like a virtuous circle. I will still have – if someone is celebrating – I’ll still raise a glass. At Christmas, I’ll have a couple of bubbles. But I would say 99.9 per cent of the time, I’m alcohol-free.
“For New Year’s Eve, I was sitting at a bar because it was the only place left in a restaurant and all these drinks were coming up to be taken around by the waiters.
“I looked at one and thought it looked absolutely lovely but then I thought, ‘Yeah, but I’ll get that and I get a breakout. Or tomorrow I’ll not feel very good.’ I want to feel good. There’s more reasons not to, than reasons to.”

The 33-year-old pro dancer – who is best known as a professional on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, shortly after she tied the knot with Benjamin Jones.
While she has now completed treatment, Amy returned to a medical facility for another hospital appointment on Wednesday, just hours after a live TV appearance on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show.
Amy shared a picture from inside a hospital, and wrote on the caption: “From @lorraine to hospital apt. How very different worlds! (sic)”

It changes forever. It has changed me as a person. My parents, my family, I see the pain in their eyes, the worry.
“It affected all of us. my husband. My lovely dance school children. When I looked back, I had some amazing opportunities but I thought ‘I’ve had cancer, I’ve lost my hair, I’ve lost my boob. ITV bosses lift social media ban for Love Island All Stars contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV bosses have lifted the social media ban for ‘Love Island: All Stars’ contestants.
The hit ITV2 dating show will return to screens on January 15 featuring stars from previous series, and while contestants in the previous series were made to pause their social media platforms while they appeared on the show, bosses have decided that accounts can stay active for the upcoming series because the Islanders are already in the public eye.
An insider told MailOnline: “For the All Stars series it was decided that Islanders should have the choice as to whether or not they want to stay active on social media.
“The feeling was that because they have all experienced life in the spotlight, and also have management advising them, they are already aware of the potential pitfalls and negatives associated with social media.
“Most of them have had at least a year of living in the limelight so will hopefully be able to handle what being famous throws at them.”
May Jama will return as host for the new series and producers are keen to do all they can to get people tuning in.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “‘Love Island’ bosses want to make sure they’re out of the ratings slump when winter rolls around for All Stars.
“They are working out ways to give the show a real kick and to make the format have a lasting impact on viewers.
“At the moment it’s all just an open discussion and there are lots of ideas being put forward.”
While the idea of having “old rivals” clashing once more, bosses are keen to embrace the chaos with “some fresh faces”, too.
The source added: “Naturally, there is potential for old rivals to have it out on screen and to put old love triangles back into play.
“But some fresh faces could bring a twist. Will old hands stick with who they coupled up with before, for maximum impact, or risk everything for someone they actually fancy?”

Bradley Walsh launches public appeal to get Brian Conley a job after EastEnders exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Walsh has appealed to get Brian Conley a new job.
The 62-year-old actor departed his role as Rocky Cotton on BBC One soap ‘EastEnders’ in scenes aired over the festive period, after spending just over two years in Albert Square.
Brian has now appeared in a social media video with ‘The Chase’ star Bradley, 63, where the pair jokingly started a campaign to find his next role, with his stint in ‘Cinderella’ almost over.
In the video, which was posted to X – formerly known as Twitter – Bradley said: “Hello, everyone. I’m backstage here at the Milton Keynes Theatre coming to see an old friend of mine.
“We’ve known each other a long time, since we’ve been teenagers in effect. And, sadly, now, at the moment, the show’s come to an end.
“And he’s left a show on the BBC called ‘EastEnders’. So he’s actually out of work, and I believe he’s now looking for work.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star then turned to his friend to humorously ask what his skills were, to which Brian confirmed that he could “act, sing and dance”.
Bradley concluded: “Someone gave him a job. Stop him bugging me.”
Towards the end of last year, it was claimed the former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant – who, away from television, has enjoyed a career in theatre, with roles in musicals such as ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Oliver!’ – had opted to step away from the soap so he could commit to pantomime, despite bosses hoping that he would be around for the serial’s 40th anniversary in February 2025.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Often in milestone celebratory years like the 40th anniversary, bosses need to have all cast available so that they can storyline appropriately up to and beyond December to guarantee that level of drama for audiences.
“There’s a real buzz around the anniversary with plans already underway to bring audiences some explosive storylines.
“Filming for February usually takes place before Christmas, so for those wanting to do a five-week run would mean the show would be unable to use them in any of their plans relating to the anniversary.”
A spokeswoman for the show said: “As previously stated by Brian Conley earlier in the week, ‘EastEnders’ are fully supportive of Brian’s decision to leave at the end of his contract and we wish him the very best for the future.
“‘EastEnders’ cast take part in panto every year, but as we lead up to our milestone 40th anniversary, all cast members have been asked to be involved for storyline purposes.
“We’ve received no complaints. In fact everyone has been supportive of the plan.”

‘It’s really exciting!’ Ant and Dec reveal latest update about their Byker Grove reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec are keen to promote the “next generation of young talent” when they bring back ‘Byker Grove’.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ co-hosts revealed in July they are planning to reboot the 1990s BBC show, on which they made their name as characters PJ and Duncan, and they are hoping to help upcoming actors and youngsters who want to forge a career behind the camera.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Dec said: “We’re trying to bring back ‘Byker Grove’ and bring in the next generation of young talent, both in front of and behind the camera, up to the North East.
“It’s really exciting.”
The pair previously admitted they want to open the children’s show up to a “whole new audience”, as well as those who are “are old enough to remember it so fondly”.
In a video announcing the news in July, Dec said: “17 years after it closed its doors for the final time, Byker Grove is opening them up again.
“Now, it’s obviously a show very close to our hearts, the show which gave us our breaks, so we couldn’t be more excited that we’ll be giving it a new lease of life.
“Once again, it will follow a new generation of young people and their families as they try to navigate the challenges they face today in the 2020s.”
Dec also wondered whether or not PJ and Duncan will make a cameo appearance at The Grove, but Ant wasn’t so sure.
He quipped: “I wouldn’t have thought so. I reckon PJ now, right, is performing at Wembley Stadium with his platinum selling rap album.”
Dec quipped: “As you can probably tell, storyline development is at a very early stage.”

James May calls for more car shows – but thinks he’s ‘too old’ to host them

OHMYGOSSIP — James May believes he is “too old” to make more motoring shows.
The 60-year-old presenter believes there is still an audience for programmes about cars, despite Prime Video ending his series ‘The Grand Tour’ and the BBC cutting ‘Top Gear’, but doesn’t think he and regular co-hosts Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson are the right men for the job anymore.
James – who fronted ‘Top Gear’ from 2003 until 2005 before returning with ‘The Grand Tour’ in 2019 – told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “If you wanted to make a serious, slightly more consumerish car show there’s never been a better time for it because it’s a very interesting topic.
“What is going to happen to the car, car ownership, attitudes to the car, how we use it, dispose of it, how we power it?
“It’s all interesting stuff, it’s the most interesting time in the car’s history since it was invented. So I can’t believe somewhere or other, a slightly more modern car show won’t emerge.
“But we can’t do it as we’re too old.”
James can next be seen in ‘Our Man In India’, exploring various events and cultural traditions in the country and while he had a great time, he needed to go on a diet when he returned to the UK after getting “a little bit fat” due to the huge portions of food he was served.
He said: “The Indians are feeders.
“They fill up your bowls until you literally have to fight them off, so we actually found ourselves getting a little bit fat towards the end.
“We got some enormous biryanis. We became very enthusiastic about biryanis from all the different towns and cities we went to.
“But some of them are quite big. They don’t hold back and I had to cut back a bit when I got home.”

‘We’re shattered and smitten!’ Nicola Thorp gives birth to a baby girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Thorp has given birth to a baby girl.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who played Nicola Rubinstein in the ITV soap until 2018 and again briefly in 2019 – admitted she and her actor fiance Nikesh Patel are “shattered and smitten and everything in between” following the arrival of their daughter.
She wrote on Instagram: “We are delighted to say that we recently welcomed our beautiful baby daughter into the world.
“Everything they say about birth being a rollercoaster of emotions is true. We’re shattered and smitten and everything in between.”
As part of their daughter’s birth announcement on social media, Nicola and Nikesh encouraged their followers to consider donating to the United Nations Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency amid the current the Israel-Hamas conflict.
She added: “Social media is a difficult place right now.
“If your timeline is anything like ours, it’s filled with images of babies and children dying in conflict or living in fear and unimaginable danger.
“It doesn’t feel right to share our news on here without also acknowledging how fortunate we are that our baby is safe.
“If like us you feel helpless, please consider donating to the United Nations Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency, who are responding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and supporting pregnant women, new mums and their babies.
“Every child deserves to be born into safety.”
Broadcaster Nicola confirmed in September that she and Nikesh – who announced their engagement in January 2023 – were expecting their first child together.
The couple made the announcement on Instagram with pictures from a professional photoshoot, which Nikesh captioned: “Some news”. Nicola reshared his post.

Eternals TV show was in the works before movie was made

OHMYGOSSIP — An ‘Eternals’ TV show was originally in the works before the movie was made.
John Ridley was hired in 2015 to develop a mystery Marvel project for ABC but the show never came to fruition and the ’12 Years a Slave’ screenwriter has now confirmed he was developing a series based on the immortal alien beings and he believes it would have been better than Chloe Zhao’s 2021 movie, which starred the likes of Angelina Jolie, SalmaHayek, Richard Madden and Gemma Chan.
Speaking on the ‘Comic Book Club’ podcast, John said: “It’s not in the works anymore. It was a television version of ‘The Eternals’… But good.
“My version was the good version. It was so weird. There was my version, a good version, which is good to me, which — that doesn’t mean anything.
“There was the version that [Marvel] ended up doing, which I don’t think that version was particularly good. I’ll be honest.”
But the screenwriter noted the ‘Eternals’ comics are “really hard property to develop” and he understands why the show never progressed – particularly because he’s aware his ideas aren’t as “populist” as Marvel may have wanted.
He said: “The best thing to happen for everybody was that it didn’t happen with me, because I don’t know that it would have been entertaining.
“And I do mean what’s entertaining to me is often not entertaining. Populist, which is great for a lot of the work I do, but this needed to be a little bit more popular.”
John explained how he envisaged a “really weird” story for the show.
He explained: “My version started with…the first thing you see is a young man, probably about 18 years old. And he’s sitting there and then he lifts his hands. He has a drill in it. And he turns the drill on and he puts the drill to his ear and he starts pushing it in. And then it goes from there.
“That’s the start, right? That’s how it starts.
“And then I think you see another kid…he sleeps in the bathtub, covers himself with foil. It’s just a really weird story about these people who are, I mean, it’s just weird.”

‘I am delighted!’ David Tennant to host BAFTA Film Awards 2024

OHMYGOSSIP — David Tennant is to host this year’s BAFTA Film Awards.
The ‘Harry Potter’ actor will take the reins for the ceremony on February 18th at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and he cannot wait to “help celebrate” the best movies of the year.
He said: “I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life.”
BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip believes the ‘Doctor Who’ star’s “warmth, charm and mischievous wit” will make this year’s BAFTA Film Awards a “must-watch show”.
She said: “We are over the moon that David Tennant will be our host for the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards.
“He is deservedly beloved by British and international audiences, alike.
“His warmth, charm and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show next month for our guests at the Royal Festival Hall and the millions of people watching at home.”
David is following in the footsteps of Richard E. Grant, who fronted the ceremony last year, after he took over from 2022 host Rebel Wilson.
Stephen Fry previously hosted the ceremony for 12 years, but he stepped down in January 2018.
He said at the time: “Every one of the 12 BAFTA film award ceremonies that I had the privilege of hosting has a place in my memory.
“The mixture of glamour, glory, drama and – occasionally – embarrassment and hiccup holds a unique place in the British film calendar.
“Over the last two decades I have especially loved watching the emergence of new young film talent behind and in front of the camera.
“But after so long a time I felt it only right to stand down and let others take the BAFTAs on to new heights and greater glories.”
Joanna Lumley took the reins for two years in 2018 and 2019, before Graham Norton landed the job in 2020, and TV and radio presenters Dermot O’Leary and Edith Bowman co-hosted the main ceremony in 2021.
The BAFTA longlists, covering all 24 categories, will be announced on Friday (05.01.24).

TOWIE’s James Argent served tinned curry on Celebrity Cooking School

OHMYGOSSIP — James Argent served curry from a tin during ‘Celebrity Cooking School’.
The 36-year-old TV personality -who shot to fame after appearing on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ (TOWIE) – will be learning how to cook alongside ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Olivia Bentley, ‘Geordie Shore’s Scotty T, former Conservative minister Anne Widdecombe and YouTuber Spudzz.
During the episode, Olivia called James’ efforts a “car crash”.
She said: “It’s a car crash. The bhaji is too greasy, the rice isn’t salted, the chicken is overcooked.”
“Apart from that, it was perfect.”
The Channel 4 show is hosted by Melvin Odoom and sees chef Giorgio Locatelli, who has a Michelin star for his Italian restaurant, try to teach celebrities with no culinary skills how to create a tasty meal.
Although James is ready to take on the challenge, he admitted Georgio has “his work cut out” if the chef wants to teach the TV star how to rustle up an impressive dinner.
He said: “It took me 11 attempts to pass my driving test so, Georgio has his work cut out.”
“I’m not denying I love food. I love it so much I had to get a gastric sleeve.”
Despite being ready to take to the kitchen, James has revealed that he is not looking to return to ‘TOWIE’.
He told Closer magazine: “If I’m being honest, I would never go back.
“I gave my whole life to it, from my family relationships to my friendships, to girlfriends, to breaking up, to banter with the boys, to my singing and performances. You saw me grow up on there.
“I feel like I’ve done absolutely everything that there was to do on TOWIE. I’ve ticked every single box and I’ve got very fond memories. I’m fortunate that I’m no longer ‘Arg from TOWIE’ and I’ve been able to become James Argent in my own right – I’m a wedding singer now.”
“But, who knows? Maybe if ‘TOWIE’ ever comes to an end, I’ll come back for a cameo and perform with my band on the last episode.
“A cameo will do. But I’m finally doing what I’ve always wanted to do.”

Michelle Keegan reveals why James Argent is not allowed to use her toilet: ‘He destroyed it!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Keegan has admitted that James Argent is banned from using her toilet.
The 36-year-old actress has been married to former ‘TOWIE’ star Mark Wright, also 36, since 2015 and explained they tend to hire portable loos for parties because her husband is a “clean freak” and while she doesn’t mind if guests use her personal bathroom, Arg is no longer allowed after he “destroyed” her toilet.
Speaking on ‘Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden’, she said: “Honestly every time we have parties now no one’s allowed to use it because of him. Mark’s he’s very…like he’s a clean freak he doesn’t like people using the toilet.
“We hire toilets and things …I mean a big party if it’s a family party that’s fine but like if it’s a big party… people can go to my toilet I don’t care.”
Pushed for an answer for who is not allowed to use her bathroom, the former ‘Coronation Street’ star answered: “Arg!” as she revealed he had been “hanging off” her toilet in the past.
She said: In my eyes, Arg is [allowed to] use it but he destroyed it…he was hanging off.”
As well as banning his former co-star from using the facilities, Michelle also revealed that Mark doesn’t allow shoes in the house and insists that everything is kept clean and tidy.
She added: “Shoes is another one…No shoes, no toilet. He needs everything in place. He’s a clean freak. Which is good because I know the house is gonna be clean.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Fool Me Once’ actress also revealed that Mark had treated her to some “very nice” presents for Christmas despite not asking for anything specifically.
She said: “He got me some pyjamas… he got me a bag.. it’s very nice. He actually did it himself. Well, he always says to me every year ‘What do you want?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t really want anything really’ but he always comes through with the presents!
