BBC announces return of huge show
OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Michael McIntyre’s Big Show’ is returning to the BBC.
The variety show, which started as a Christmas special in 2015 before airing as a full series 2019, sees stand-up star Michael, 47, perform sketches, take part in games, and interview various celebrities.
After a four-year break, the broadcaster has confirmed the show will be back on screens from January 13.
Speaking about the show’s popularity, Michael said: “There isn’t a day that goes by without someone telling me how much they love this show, although strangely nobody seems to know what it’s called.
“It’s either, ‘The one where you take people’s phones’, ‘The one where you wake people up in the night’, ‘The one where the wall falls down’ or ‘The Big Night In’.
“Well, I’m thrilled to announce that all four of those shows are set to return for a seventh series!'”
Popular segments of the show include Send To All, in which Michael takes the mobile phone of a celebrity guest and forward a random text message onto the famous faces in their contacts list.
He sneaks into civilian homes on Midnight Gameshow, and both will be returning for the programme’s latest outing.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC said: “We are thrilled to have ‘Michael McIntyre’s Big Show’ back on BBC One and iPlayer, it’s a show full of joy with laugh-out-loud moments and surprises on unexpecting celebrities.
“I cannot wait to see who Michael with his comedic brilliance will be waking up this series and whose phone he will peek into. It really is unmissable on a Saturday night.”
In the 2023 edition of the show, celebrity guests included chat show host Jonathan Ross, along with ‘This Morning’ stars Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark.
