Dancing on Ice week one lineup revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — The official line-up for the first week of ‘Dancing on Ice’ has been confirmed.
The ITV1 competition – which sees a string of famous faces take to the rink alongside their professional partners in a bid to become skating champion – will return to screens on Sunday (14.01.24) with Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern hosting and it has now been revealed that former ‘Love Island’ star Amber Davies, Olympian Greg Rutherford MBE, S Club singer Hannah Spearritt, boxer Ricky Hatton MBE ‘Emmerdale’ actress Roxy Shahidi. and former ‘Coronation Street’ star Ryan Thomas will appear in the first episode.
In the second week, radio host Adele Roberts, former ‘Brookside’ actress Claire Sweeney and ski jumper Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will join comedienne Lou Sanders, ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Miles Nazaire and former ‘EastEnders’ star Ricky Norwood in the rink, all bidding to make it through to the next stage of the competition.
Ahead of her debut on the show, Amber admitted that getting the chance to take part had come as a surprise to her because it has been a few years since she has been on TV but is “loving” being able to “push [her] mind and body” with the new challenge.
Greg explained that he was inspired to take part in the series because he enjoyed ice-skating as a kid and decided “25 or 30 years” on it was time for a new challenge, whilst ‘Reach’ hitmaker Hannah – who did not take part in the S Club reunion tour towards the end of last year – revealed she almost had the chance to take part a few years ago until she discovered she was pregnant and now feels as if she is “jumping into the unknown”, and a similar situation had befallen soap star Roxy.
Boxing legend Ricky joked that his family thought he was “crackers” for signing up but is looking forward to a new challenge, whilst Ryan believes it was “fate” that he ended up as part of the lineup because just days before he got the call, his daughter Scarlett – who he has with former ‘Corrie’ co-star Tina O’Brien – had asked him if he would ever take part.
‘Dancing on Ice’ starts Sunday 14 January at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

‘He was a joy to play!’ Bridgerton actor to guest star in EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — David Sterne is to guest star in ‘EastEnders’.
The 78-year-old actor – who has appeared in ‘Bridgerton’, ‘A Knight’s Tale’ and ‘The Boat That Rocked’ – will portray Harold Martin, the elusive husband of Aunt Sal, who was played by Anna Karen, who passed away in February 2022 aged 85.
David will appear as Harold when the character says goodbye to his late wife Sal at her upcoming funeral, alongside the rest of the Mitchell clan.
He said: “I loved playing Harold as I felt like the storyline was really important in the context of the show and everyone was so wonderful and welcoming.
“The writing was brilliant so he was a joy to play.”
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw added: “Everyone at ‘EastEnders’ was truly saddened to learn of Anna Karen’s passing, and it was imperative that we gave Aunt Sal the send-off she deserved.
“I’m delighted to welcome David Sterne to the guest role of Aunt Sal’s elusive husband, Harold Martin, as the Mitchell family gather together to say goodbye.”
It comes after Hollywood actor Alan Ford was cast as Billy Mitchell’s estranged dad Stevie Mitchell, who will rock up in Walford as the Mitchell family prepare to say goodbye to Sal.
‘Snatch’ star Alan said: “I feel highly delighted to be playing a character close to my own age in this extremely popular television drama series.”
Billy – who is played by Perry Fenwick – grew up in care from the age of 10, after Stevie took sole custody of his brother Charlie.
Stevie and Billy last saw each other off-screen 25 years ago.
Chris added: “It’s an honour to welcome the immensely talented Alan Ford to the cast of ‘EastEnders’ as he takes on the role of Stevie Mitchell.
“Whilst Billy has been a stalwart in the show for over 25 years, viewers know very little about his complicated childhood and the events that led him to grow up in care.
“Alan arrives in Walford as the Mitchell family prepare to say goodbye to their beloved Aunt Sal but it soon becomes apparent that he is not welcome in the family fold.”

Josh Hutcherson confirms Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 plans

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Hutcherson has confirmed plans for ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’.

He told Variety: “I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible.
“Obviously, the fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was was so cool and phenomenal.”
Hutcherson admitted while everyone involved was hopeful about its prospects, they have been blown away by the way the movie clicked with fans.
He added: “We hoped it would connect with audiences, But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did.
“I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”
Blumhouse is yet to announce a sequel, but it sounds like it’s certainly on the cards after the original’s huge success.

‘It would be fair for everyone!’ David Ayer wants ‘funeral screening’ of his Suicide Squad cut

OHMYGOSSIP — David Ayer has called for a “funeral screening” of his ‘Suicide Squad’ cut.
The 55-year-old director helmed the 2016 DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film, which was met with critical reviews, but he has since claimed the final cut is “not my movie”, and now he thinks it would be “fair” to bring the cast and crew together for a “last rites” screening to show them “what they actually made”.
Speaking about being criticised for the released version of the motion picture, he told Variety: “That’s been the toughest part of my career.
“I made a great movie. I made an amazing film. I’ll go on record. Anyone wants to dispute that: Come look me in the eye.
“To have something I put so much love and so much heart into get taken away, reengineered … you know that Eric Andre meme where he shoots the guy and says, ‘Why’d you do that?’ That’s been like ‘Suicide Squad.’ ‘Why’d you do that?’ I didn’t.
“I would love a ‘last rites’ screening.
“A funeral screening, you know, even just bringing the cast and crew together to show them what they actually made. That that would be fair for everyone.”
Ayer hit out at critics who have bashed him for the 2016 film, insisting it is “pretty unjust” and “pretty unfair”.
He added: “Every time a new movie comes out in that space it starts up again.
“I get attacked for something that I didn’t do. It’s pretty unjust, and at the end of the day, at this point, I get it, it’s corporate America.
“It’s corporate IP. You know these are multi-billion dollar companies, but I think ripping the guts out of a filmmaker like that is pretty unfair.”
In August, Ayer insisted DC co-chief James Gunn had reassured him that his version of ‘Suicide Squad’ – which starred Jared Leto and Margot Robbie – will “be shared” at some point.
In a lengthy post on X, Ayer wrote: “There’s a genuine curiosity and interest from a lot of people. And I’m aware of there is another group of people that have fun mocking the film. Your comment is a perfect example of how many are magnetically drawn discussion to the 2016 film in a negative way. Have you ever had an experience in life that didn’t until the way you wanted, that dragged you, that made you rethink everything?
I have.
All I know is my unseen film plays much better than the studio release.
The interest in my cut being show seems real and organic. And Gunn told me it would have it’s time to be shared. He absolutely deserves to launch to launch his DC universe without more drama about old projects.
In a way I’m chained to this thing. I’m riding a tiger here and navigating this situation the best I can. Life is a very strange journey.
Welcome to my Ted talk (sic)”

Richard Osman warns BBC could axe more shows in 2024

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Osman has warned the BBC could axe a number of popular shows in 2024.
The 53-year-old presenter and producer – who created and hosted hit quiz show ‘Pointless’ as well as fronting ‘Richard Osman’s House of Games’ – has weighed in on the broadcaster’s future adjusting to less funds than before.
Speaking on his ‘The Rest Is Entertainment’ podcast, he said: “The BBC has an awful lot less money than it used to, so some stuff has to go.
“The BBC has pretty much run out of money. All those mid-level programmes are sort of done.
“It’s too expensive to launch new things with they money they’ve got so we’re going to have the same shows for a very long time. And more topical will be dropping by the wayside.”
Just last month, ‘A Question of Sport’ was cut by the Beeb after more than 50 years on air, with the broadcaster blaming the decision on inflation and poor ratings.
Richard has insisted all programming needs to hit three different markers to earn its place on air.
He added: “Everything has to sing for its supper now. Everything now how to pay its way in three different ways.
“It has to pay its way in ratings, then it has to pay its way in repeatability and it has to pay its way in international sales.”
When it comes to ‘A Question of Sport’ – which was axed after ‘Doctors’ met a similar fate – a BBC spokesperson did insist it was “not the final whistle” for the show, explaining that the programme was “not being cancelled – it is just not in production at the moment”.
The situation has been compared to ‘The Weakest Link’ – the long-running TV game show – which has had gaps in production.
The spokesperson added: “‘Question of Sport’ is not going to appear on any other channels. It is the BBC’s intellectual property.”

‘It’s been a blessing!’ Adele Roberts’ stoma helps her to ‘connect’ with body during Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele Roberts has told how rehearsing for ‘Dancing on Ice’ with a stoma bag has helped her to “connect” with her body.
The 44-year-old broadcaster and DJ, who beat bowel cancer last year, will be the first person to take part in the ITV1 ice-skating show with a stoma bag, and because of her colostomy bag, which she nicknames Audrey, Adele has had to “really, really think” about her movement on the ice.
Asked if she was having to take precautions when it comes to her stoma, she said: “Yeah, totally. Being new to the world of stomas, I didn’t really know what to expect.
“I’ve realised that Audrey – that’s what I call it – doesn’t like the ice. She’s very quiet.
“She’s been a joy, actually. I’ve noticed that because I’ve got a hole on the right side of my torso, I don’t have a centre where it used to be.
“I’m having to relearn how to use my body actually and rotation is quite hard.
“I’ve got to really, really think about my movement on the ice but it’s helped me connect with my body, so it’s been a blessing as well.”
Adele – who will be partnered on the ice by pro skater Mark Hanretty – admitted she is taking part in ‘Dancing on Ice’ to “bring awareness to bowel cancer and celebrate ostomies and show what our
bodies can do”.
Quizzed on whether that feels bigger than the show, she said: “Yeah, there was a little lad that came up to me at the rink one of the days that I was practising and he had a stoma and he’d only just got it.
“I think he was about six years old. His mum came up and she said, ‘Do you mind if I introduce you to my son?’ And explained about him and I was like, ‘God, that’d be my honour.’
“He came up and she said to him, ‘This lady’s got a stoma too.’
“He looked at me and then I showed him and he is like, I’m going to get emotional, but his little face, he was like, ‘Oh!’ He’d never seen anybody that had a stoma before and yeah, that’s the reason I’m doing it.
“That’s why the show is bigger than just lifting the trophy. I was telling Mark as well about the little boy and he said, ‘Oh, I didn’t know kids have them.’
“I was like, ‘Oh, absolutely. Babies can have them.’
“Anybody with a digestive issue, really. It’s not a cancer thing, it’s a digestive issue. Just to raise awareness for that and help those kids be able to go to school and not get bullied, that’ll be everything.”
Ricky Hatton Amber Davies, Greg Rutherford, Hannah Spearritt, Roxy Shahidi, and Ryan Thomas will make their ‘Dancing on Ice’ debuts when series 16 starts on Sunday (14.01.24).
But Adele and five other stars, Claire Sweeney, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, Lou Sanders, Miles Nazaire, and Ricky Norwood, will have to wait until Sunday January 21st for their first skate.
‘Dancing on Ice’ starts Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Ricky Hatton keen to ‘inspire’ on Dancing on Ice after rejecting show when he ‘wasn’t in good place’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Hatton rejected ‘Dancing on Ice’ when he “wasn’t in a very good place”, but he’s now “jumping at the chance” to take on the ice-skating reality show.
The 45-year-old former professional boxer hopes his stint on the ITV1 show will “inspire a lot of people” who have struggled with their mental health.
He told The Sun newspaper: “A few years ago I wasn’t in a very good place. But since then everything’s moving forward and positive in my life.
“I’d have said no in the past. When it came forward this time, I jumped at the chance and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
“When people see me doing positive things like this, because I’m an ambassador for mental health, it’s inspiring a lot of people.”
Ahead of his ‘Dancing on Ice’ debut on Sunday (14.01.24), Ricky has split from his Playboy model girlfriend Chelsea Claire, 31, because he wants to “concentrate” on his ice-skating training.
An insider told The Sun Online: “Ricky and Chelsea had a great time together, but it ended up being more of a fling.
“They are at very different stages of their life and Ricky is really throwing himself into training and wants to concentrate on that.
“Things are still really amicable and they will be friends going forward.”
Ricky is one of six celebrities who will make their ‘Dancing on Ice’ debut when series 16 starts on Sunday.
Amber Davies, Greg Rutherford, Hannah Spearritt, Roxy Shahidi, and Ryan Thomas will also skate on Sunday, while the other six stars, Adele Roberts, Claire Sweeney, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, Lou Sanders, Miles Nazaire, and Ricky Norwood, will have to wait until Sunday January 21st for their first skate.
‘Dancing on Ice’ starts Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

‘It was my absolute honour!’ Tommy Cannon retires from pantomime after 48 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Cannon has retired from pantomime after 48 years.
The 85-year-old comic is to hang up his panto costume after 37 recent festive performances of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at Consett Empire, Consett, County Durham, in which he portrayed Lord Mayor Tommy Tomato.
Counsellor Elizabeth Scott, the council’s Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, told The Northern Echo newspaper: “It has been a privilege to have Tommy perform in our pantomimes and to share in the joy he’s brought to our audiences.
“We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.
“We celebrated giant audiences at Consett this year, but the fun won’t stop there. Leah will be returning to Empire Consett later this year to write, direct and star in the most magical fairy tale of all – Cinderella.”
In response to an article about his last-ever panto, Tommy wrote on X: “It was my absolute honour”.
It was a full circle moment for Tommy, who made his panto debut in ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ in 1975, alongside his comedy partner Bobby Ball.
Tommy’s Cannon and Ball co-star died in October 2020 aged 76 after testing positive for COVID, and Tommy previously admitted it was a “real struggle” getting back on stage without Bobby.
He told the ‘My Time Capsule’ podcast: “Having lost my partner Bobby I did panto last year, this year sort of thing, in County Durham, and I found it a real, real struggle.
“Because Bob and I did 40-something pantos together and when we used to do them it was great because we could cover for one another with the lines.
“We’d never have too many lines, it was always sketches that we did. So it was really good.
“So I had lots of lines to learn and I was beginning to get a bit panicky.”

Martin Scorsese reveals that Jesus movie will be filmed this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese has confirmed that his new movie about Jesus will film later this year.
The 81-year-old director announced last year that he had a project in the pipeline about Christ after meeting Pope Francis and has now revealed that the screenplay is complete and production is scheduled.
Scorsese told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I’m trying to find a new way to make it more accessible and take away the negative onus of what has been associated with organised religion.”
The ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ director has revealed that the picture will only be 80 minutes long – a far cry from the lengthy runtimes of his recent flicks – and is to focus on the principles of Jesus’ core teachings.
Scorsese said: “Right now, ‘religion’, you say that word and everyone is up in arms because it’s failed in some ways.
“But that doesn’t mean necessarily that the initial impulse was wrong. Let’s get back. Let’s just think about it. You may reject it. But it might make a difference in how you live your life – even in rejecting it. Don’t dismiss it offhand. That’s all I’m talking about.”
The legendary filmmaker explained how the movie will reflect what several of his previous projects have attempted to achieve.
Scorsese said: “I tried finding it with ‘Kundun’ and ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, even ‘Gangs of New York’, to a certain extent, ways into redemption and the human condition and how we deal with the negative things inside us.
“Are we decent and then learn to become indecent? Can we change? Will others accept that change? And it really is, I think, a fear of society and culture that’s corrupted because of its lack of grounding in morality and spirituality. Not religion. Spirituality. Denying that.”
He added: “It’s finding my own way in a… if you want to say the term ‘religious’ sense, but I hate to use that language, because it’s misinterpreted often. But there’s a basic fundamental belief that I have – or I’m trying to have – and I’m using these films to find it.”

‘We’ll be putting our own stamp on things’: Rachel Brosnahan promises a fresh approach to Superman: Legacy

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Brosnahan has promised that she and her ‘Superman: Legacy’ co-stars will be putting their “own stamp” on the legendary superhero.
The 33-year-old actress has been cast as Lois Lane in the upcoming DC Universe movie that is being directed by James Gunn and has vowed that the flick – which features David Corenswet in the lead role – will be different from what has come before.
Speaking to Extra on the Golden Globes red carpet, Rachel said: “We’ve been having a lot of great conversations, David and I, with James Gunn, the director.
“We’ve been talking a lot about where this project fits into the canon of the Supermans that we know. So hopefully, this’ll be… we’ll be putting our own stamp on things.”
The ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ star was tight-lipped when quizzed on whether her version of Lois Lane will be wearing glasses in the film.
Rachel replied: “I don’t know, actually. Maybe. We haven’t gotten that far in the fittings yet.”
Gunn recently confirmed that the picture remains on track for a summer 2025 release despite the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes that delayed several projects last year.
The 57-year-old director wrote on the social media platform X: “Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, ‘Superman: Legacy’ will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025.”
James has previously spoken of his love of Superman and his personal connection to the superhero.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am.
“He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.”

Nigella Lawson ‘left percentage of late dad Nigel Lawson’s 326k estate’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nigella Lawson was left a percentage of her late father’s £326,489 estate.
The 64-year-old celebrity chef is thought to have received around £30,000 from her late father, former Conservative MP Nigel Lawson, who passed away in April aged 91, while her youngest brother Thomas received two Mycenaean pots.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the will read: “I give absolutely and free of all tax my two Mycenaean pots to my son said Thomas Nigel Maclear Lawson.
“Whether or not he shall prove my Will and act initially in its trusts.”
The gross value of Nigel’s estate was £333,268, but the net value was £326,489, according to the grant of probate.
Nigel left half of his estate to his second wife Thérèse Maclear, who he divorced 13 years before his passing.
The rest was split between his kids, Nigella, Thomas, journalist son Dominic – who he had with his first wife Vanessa Salmon, who he married in 1955 before their divorce in 1980 – Horatia, and Emily.
During his time as an MP, Nigel represented the old Leicestershire constituency of Blaby from 1974 to 1992, and served in Margaret Thatcher’s cabinet of 1981 to 1989.
Lord Lawson was also Chancellor from 1983 to 1989, and he joined the House of Lords in 1992 before retiring in January 2023.
Following her father’s death, Nigella wrote on X: “Thank you for all your kind messages. And I’ll be back on here properly tomorrow.”
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was among those who paid tribute to Nigel.
He said: “One of the first things I did as Chancellor was hang a picture of Nigel Lawson above my desk.
“My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
Former PM Boris Johnson hailed Lord Lawson as a “giant” who “helped millions of British people achieve their dreams” through his work on the economy.
He wrote on X: “Nigel Lawson was a fearless and original flame of free market Conservatism. He was a tax-cutter and simplifier who helped transform the economic landscape and helped millions of British people achieve their dreams.
“He was a prophet of Brexit and a lover of continental Europe. He was a giant. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Gladiators set ‘thrown into chaos as woman gives birth’

OHMYGOSSIP — The crowd of the new ‘Gladiators’ reboot was left shocked when a woman gave birth in the audience.
Medics had to be rushed to the set in the Utilita Arena, Sheffield, during the filming of an episode for the revamped show, after a woman went into labour.
Host Bradley Walsh is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column as saying: “There was a lady whose waters broke during a show. She gave birth in the audience. We had a Gladiator baby.”
The 63-year-old star, who is best known for presenting the ITV game show ‘The Chase’, hosts the rebooted BBC programme with his son Barney, 26, which sees competitors take part in fan-favourite challenges, such as Hang Tough, against the resident Gladiators.
Bradley didn’t expect the warm welcome he received on the show.
He said: “I didn’t expect the atmosphere to be the way it was. Coming out on to the stage is a vivid memory for me.
“You’ve got everyone around you in that big round arena, all the lights going off, all the cannons, and everyone screaming and cheering – that was spectacular. The arena was electric, it was alive, and everyone could really feel that.”
While Barney is enjoying his presenting role on the BBC programme, ‘The Larkins’ actor revealed he and his father were not always professional on set.
He previously said: “There were lots of laughs. We had fun. There had to be retakes because we were just having a laugh with each other. But that’s what our relationship is like!”
‘Gladiators’ returns to BBC One on Saturday 13 January at 5:50pm and will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

‘Not with a gastric band!’ Mark Labbett unsure how he shed 10 stone

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Labbett “isn’t too sure” how he managed to shed 10 stone.
The ‘Chase’ quizzer, 58, has told how he has gone from 29 stone, when he was at his heaviest, to 19 stone, but insisted he hasn’t had any weight-loss surgery.
When asked on ‘Good Morning Britain’ how he did it, he said: “Not with a gastric band. I’m not too sure how.
“I weighted myself the other day and I was just under 19 stone and at my heaviest, I was just a shade under 185 kilos – 29 stone.
“Essentially I’ve been carrying a sack of coal on my back all these years.”
Mark, who is nicknamed “The Beast” on the ITV1 quiz show, revealed one of the things that has helped with his weight loss is his reduced appetite, which occurred after he suffered from a bout coronavirus.
Appearing on the show alongside his girlfriend Hayley Palmer, 41, he added: “During the pandemic, I was looking after my little boy and I really began to admire people who are full-time looking after young children.
“I don’t know how I did it, but I was lucky, and after one of the bouts of COVID my appetite went away and never really came back.
“Hayley will agree that even now I struggle to finish a meal.”
Despite his reduced appetite, Mark previously insisted he would get “hangry” if he ever took part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
He previously told the Daily Star newspaper: “I might be the campmate from hell. I get hangry, which is being angry because I’m hungry. And that is not good.
“I am a man who likes his food. I make no bones about it… my father was a butcher, so I know basic butchery. If somebody crosses me and it affects the food, I will have them up on a spit and roast them within five minutes.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent is hoping to find his “future wife” in 2024.
The 36-year-old TV star – who shot to fame after appearing in the reality show ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – and his ex Stella Turian, 19, broke up in November after dating for a year, and James has now insisted he is “not chasing” a new romance, but would welcome finding his future wife if it happened.
During an appearance on ‘Lorraine’ on Tuesday (09.01.24), where the host Lorraine Kelly asked if he was ready to get back on the dating scene, he said: “I’m not looking for it – if it happens, sure. I’m not chasing it.”
The TV personality then joked he hoped women might find him more attractive after his appearance in the Channel 4 show ‘Celeb Cooking School’, where he – and others, including ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Liv Bentley, ‘Geordie Shore’s Scotty T, rapper Nadia Rose and dancing legend Louie Spence – learn culinary skills from Michelin-starred chef Giorgio Locatelli.
James explained: “They say women like a man who cooks, so that might make me more attractive.”
Arg – who previously dated fellow ‘TOWIE’ stars Lydia Bright and Gemma Collins – insisted there was no hard feelings with any of his exes.
He said: “All three of them, I can say they’re my mates now.”
James also shared his other aspirations for 2024, including passing his driving test.
He said: “My number-one goal is to finally, after 36 years of my life, pass my driving test and theory test.
“That is going to be my goal and I really believe I can do it. I’ve got my weight off – I’m starting to tone up now – and I’ve been clean and sober coming up for two years.
“The Arg Band is absolutely flying … I’m living my dreams. But two other things I really want to achieve are driving and potentially meeting my future wife, the mother of my kids.”

Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle’s life rocked by devastating diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle is set to have her life rocked when she is diagnosed with breast cancer.
The single mum, played by Lucy Pargeter, will be seen frolicking around with village doctor Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) – but the fun soon ends when he discovers a lump in her breast.
Liam did his best to reassure her that it could simply be a cyst or noncancerous.
Chas, who has a young daughter called Eve with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), keeps the news to herself at first but is shell-shocked when she is diagnosed with the fastest-growing triple-negative breast cancer.
The diagnosis is all the more devastating as her mother died from breast cancer.
The ITV soap has teamed up with the charity Breast Cancer Now on the episodes to encourage people to “check their breasts” regularly, and Chas and the team have been working with their nurses to ensure the storyline is as “authentic” as possible.
Producer Kate Brooks said: “When this story was first pitched, we were acutely aware how important it was to explore this…
“With Chas’s family history of breast cancer and Chas being such a strong character, and in many ways the bedrock of the Dingles, we wanted to show the impact on not just her, but her immediate family. With Lucy Pargeter’s innate ability to showcase Chas’s vulnerabilities beneath her hardened exterior, we knew she was absolutely the right character to play this with.
“We approached Breast Cancer Now as we wanted to depict this story in the most authentic way possible. Any light we can shed on this disease and encourage and remind people to routinely check their breasts can hopefully help lead to more positive outcomes.”
Lucy added: “When the producers first discussed this storyline with me I knew I didn’t want us to shy away from any aspect of this diagnosis for Chas. She saw her own mother ultimately die after an incurable breast cancer diagnosis, so for Chas to receive a breast cancer diagnosis herself, makes it all the more poignant…
“Our audience knows her so well, they have seen her relationships, know her faults, her passions, her insecurities, quirks and fears. So for them to see this story play out will be more meaningful given everything that has happened to both her and her mother. I think this is the beauty of our genre ‘Soap’. However, I am more than aware of the huge responsibility with us telling this story…
“I hope we can do it justice. It won’t be all doom and gloom, there will be ups and downs just like with anything. But I hope it looks and feels real. And if just a few people get help for breast changes that do not feel or look right, it could do some good too.”
‘Emmerdale’ airs weekdays at 7.30 pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
