Stacey Solomon planning to ‘slow down’ after being hospitalised in Jamaica

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Solomon has vowed to rest and “take it slow” as she recovers at home after being hospitalised in Jamaica.
The 34-year-old TV star was on holiday with her husband Joe Swash and their children as well as members of their extended family when she fell ill with an infection on the final day of the trip and was admitted to hospital where she was given oxygen and an IV drip.
Stacey was later deemed well enough to fly home and she updated her followers in a post on Instagram, explaining why she had been absent from social media for several days. She said: “We had the worst exit from Jamaica of all time. And I can’t even like get over it. Because it doesn’t feel real in my head. And today’s the first day, I felt like I’m walking around the house and feel normal.
“But anyway, cut a long story short on the day before we were travelling home, I started to feel a little bit ‘flu-ey’ so I was like oh I’m getting that flu that everyone’s got. Annoying. That’s alright, we’re going home tomorrow, so I’ll just get through it, get over it and carry on.
“So I carried on and as the day went on it just got worse and worse.”
Stacey went for a sleep while Joe took the kids to dinner and he returned to find her looking seriously unwell so he called her sister – who works as a nurse – for help.
She added: “So [my sister] came in and was like, ‘We need to sit you up, cool you down, get you some paracetamol’. Did all her nursing stuff and every time she checked my temperature … She was like: ‘No it’s okay!’ But it weren’t. Because afterwards she told me my temperature was going up and not coming down and that is not a good sign.’ So they called the medical team inside the hotel and the nurse came down and took one look at me and put an oxygen mask on.
“And then she was covering me in wet towels and my temperature was still too high so she literally said she needs to get to the hospital and get some IV antibiotics and fluids in her and tests.”
Stacey added: “So yeah I ended up in hospital in Jamaica … So anyway the IV and everything went in and I did start to feel instantly so much better. Still rough as hell but way better than what I was.
“We were there from the night before we were meant to leave until the morning and I was obviously like: ‘Please let me go home, I don’t want to stay here on my own when I’m not well, just let me get home.
“And they got me to a point where they were happy for me to fly home. So I did the flight home. Poor Joe had all the kids for 10 hours! And I literally went to sleep as soon as I got home and today is the first day I’ve started to feel like a normal human again.”
In a subsequent post, Stacey revealed her illness had been caused by an infection which led to a fever and it’s being treated with antibiotics. She has vowed to take it easy for a while as she lets her body heal.
The former ‘X Factor’ star explained: “I’m going to listen to my body and let myself get well … I’m just going to rest up and hopefully in a couple of days I’ll feel back to normal. But even then I’m going to take it slow because I don’t ever want to be in that situation again. It actually scared me a little bit.”

Jacob Elordi to play Frankenstein’s monster

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacob Elordi has reportedly signed up to play Frankenstein’s monster in a new Netflix film.
The ‘Priscilla’ star is believed to have stepped in to replace Andrew Garfield, who had previously signed up for the part in Guillermo del Toro’s up coming Netflix adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 horror novel, but was forced to exit the project because of delays from the 2023 Hollywood strikes.
Deadline.com reports a series of postponements hit the production and led to scheduling conflicts which meant Garfield could no longer take part.
However, the outlet states Elordi will be taking his place opposite Oscar Isaac as scientist Victor Frankenstein. The cast also includes Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz.
‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ director Del Toro is writing, directing and producing the new movie which will tell the story of Dr Frankenstein as he brings a human-like creature to life. It’s believed the director has been working on bringing the project to the screen for some time but it’s not yet know whether the new Netflix film will be a period piece or if it will be set in modern times.
It will be Del Toro’s second film for Netflix following his Oscar-winning ‘Pinocchio’ adaption.
The casting news comes after Elordi, who also recently starred in ‘Saltburn’, admitted acting after it saved him from feeling “deeply unsettled” at school.
He told Variety: “I feel the most free in my career that I ever have. When I was 15, I was at an all-boys Catholic school. I was deeply unsettled and didn’t know why.
“In theatre class, I read ‘Waiting for Godot.’ I didn’t understand it, but something changed. Everything that I believed in just went out the window.
“I became an observer. Acting and performance and story became my church. I worked 24 hours a day, devouring everything that I could. My personality changed.”
The actor – who rose to fame in TV show ‘Euphoria’ – added: “Then I started making movies, and it went away. For two or three years, I was in a scramble. Even during ‘Euphoria,’ I was trying to catch it and find it again, because all these rules and ideas start getting put on performance.
“My whole thing was about losing myself in the performance. But now I’m bringing ‘Jacob Elordi’ to a performance, which is such a heady, trippy thing.
“I’ve been in the process of trying to shake it as it grows bigger and louder. But strangely enough, I’m in a place now where I feel free.”

Hannah Waddingham has nothing but nice things to say about co-star Tom Cruise

OHMYGOSSIP — Hannah Waddingham has gushed that Tom Cruise is “gorgeous” to work with.
The ‘Ted Lasso’ star, 49, was not willing to reveal any plot details about their upcoming flick, ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part Two’ and quipped that she will get “fractionally vilified for saying something nice” about the Hollywood star again.
Speaking to Deadline at the Golden Globes at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (07.01.24), she said: “He’s a fabulous person, great to work with.
“It’s hilarious to be fractionally vilified for saying something nice. What have we become if we can’t say something nice? He’s gorgeous, as is Chris McQuarrie, the director.”
During an appearance on the Christmas 2023 edition of ITV’s ‘James Martin’s Saturday Morning’, Hannah defended Tom, 61, against his critics after spending several days filming with him “intensely”.
She said: “I have to say, I have a real problem with anybody that goes at [Tom Cruise] now.
“Having met him and having spent five days intensely…He is without doubt one of the loveliest and encouraging, positive and inspiring human beings I have ever met. Isn’t he gorgeous? I have no time for anyone saying anything about him.”
The movie has been delayed several times but is now scheduled for release on May 23, 2025.
Hannah’s character is not known at this time.
Tom will be back as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, with Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff all reprising their respective roles.

Ex-Corrie star Charlie Lawson says ‘viewers are getting turned off’ by soap’s ‘woke storylines’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ legend Charlie Lawson said that “viewers are getting turned off” by “too many woke storylines”.
The 64-year-old actor, who starred in the soap from 1989 to 2018 as Jim McDonald, criticised ITV bosses for pushing “political correctness” into the show after it was revealed that ‘Coronation Street’ only netted around 2.6 million viewers over Christmas.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “Viewers are getting turned off by too many young storylines.
“In my day, in the Nineties, we didn’t have any woke issues, we didn’t have any political correctness, we had none of that [redacted]. We were able to tell stories and tell them properly.
“I suspect now half the meetings that they have upstairs on the sixth floor are about what is politically acceptable, all this stuff that they feel they have to address.
“And the silent majority of TV viewers are not interested in the slightest by all this [rubbish].”
“Where do you go from 2.6 million at Christmas? That is a very, very disappointing viewing figure.
“We were getting three or four times that for a single episode on a Monday night in the Nineties.
“I realise watching habits have totally changed, so they have a very difficult uphill struggle.”
The actor also pointed to the “woke” stories as the reason for many regulars opting to leave the show, including Lisa George (Beth Tinker), Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow), Alex Bain (Simon Barlow) and Peter Ash (Paul Foreman).
He explained: “I do know there are at least two long-term cast members who aren’t happy.
“There is a feeling there are too many episodes and that the production team don’t have time to give the attention to detail they did before.
“If you look at the quality of the writers we had, we had great writers.
“You know, we never worried about ratings because it wasn’t an issue. We were always getting ten to 12 million.
“And then Christmas time, like I think the McDonald family got 20 million once when there was a domestic violence issue.
“An awful lot of people are saying there’s nothing like that anymore — they can’t all be wrong.”

The son of retired soccer star David Beckham, 48, and fashion designer Victoria, 49, is said to have been on the BBC One dance show’s wish-list in the past, but now it’s claimed his other half is keen to tango in front of the nation to build a rapport with the UK as a star in the US – who is best known for her role as Bradley Martin in ‘Bates Motel’ and Tessa Yeager in the film ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Nicola is known in the US but over in the UK she’s at the bottom of the publicity pecking order in Brooklyn’s famous family.

Susanna Reid fights back tears as Kate Garraway pays tribute to Derek Draper

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid was on the verge of tears as she read Kate Garraway’s tribute to Derek Draper.
The 53-year-old ‘Good Morning Britain’ host read a new statement from her fellow TV presenter on Monday’s (08.01.24) episode of the ITV breakfast show , in which co-anchor Kate reflected on the devastating loss of her beloved husband, who died last week, aged 56, after a four-year-long COVID-19 battle.
Kate’s emotional statement read: “Hello everyone. Thank you all so much for all the wonderful messages you have sent me.
“It really does mean so much to me, Darcey, Billy, and all of Derek’s family.
“They are an extraordinary comfort, and I am so lucky to feel connected to you all through these messages at this time when the raw pain of grief can be so isolating.
“And that is the wonderful thing, isn’t it, about our GMB family – that all of us on the team and all of you watching from home are connected, supporting each other through the challenges of life.
“Knowing that we can also laugh at the fun and joys together that we share too.”
The 56-year-old TV star – who had two children, Darcey, 17, and Billy, 14, with the political advisor-turned-psychotherapist – then emphasised that the support she and her family has received will continue to “sustain” them for the years to come.
She added: “I am certain that it is the support you have given me and sent to Derek that has sustained us through these tough nearly 4 years, motivating us to fight on for each other and for those that can’t fight for themselves. And it will sustain us to continue that fight in the weeks and months and years to come.
“I look forward to waking up with you very soon again on GMB to celebrate life in all its wonder and challenge again.
“I hope you forgive me for taking some time to be at home. My family is so grateful we could be with our dearest Derek in his final moments, something not all get to share.
“Maybe you too are going through grief yourself, or have done in the past. I send love and support to you too. We are taking time to heal ourselves, now that Darcey and Billy know their Daddy is at peace and free from pain and struggle.
“I shall be thinking of you all until we are reunited very soon.
“In the meantime, hug your loved ones close – all my love, Kate.”

The 31-year-old reality star told the Daily Mirror: “I’ve always been a huge fan of This Morning and the energy and joy the show brings, but talking to Josie about how much she loves being part of the This Morning family in the jungle made me want to join the team even more.

Colman Domingo saddened by lack of Rustin attention

OHMYGOSSIP — Colman Domingo is disappointed about the lack of awards buzz for ‘Rustin’.
The 54-year-old actor plays civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the biopic and admits that he was left dismayed after hearing that so many people had not seen the flick despite its critical acclaim.
In conversation with filmmaker Ava DuVernay for Vanity Fair, Colman said: “Now, my question is this, Ava, because I always think, is it about the certain eyes that are able to land in our films? Because I literally went into a dinner party the other night and I was struck by the amount of people that still hadn’t seen ‘Rustin’.”
He continued: “I’ve seen ‘Oppenheimer’, I’ve seen ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, I’ve seen ‘Saltburn’. I’ve seen all these things because I think I’ve always been groomed knowing that I look at stories outside of my experience.
“But I think there’s a large contingent of people who need to be told, like you’re saying with marketing dollars, that, ‘This has something to do with you.'”
‘Rustin’ is directed by George C. Wolfe and follows the charismatic activist as he organises the famous March on Washington in 1963 – although Domingo had a “crisis of faith” about the movie launching during the SAG-AFTRA strike that left him “sidelined” by being unable to publicise the work.
The ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ actor told IndieWire: “At some point, honestly, I really did have a crisis of faith where I thought it was lasting too long, where I could not talk about the film and why I care about it and how I led it and all that stuff.
“And honestly, I got a little depressed. And I thought, ‘Why me?’ This is such a momentous occasion and something I care about so deeply. My first leading role in a film, and I thought, ‘Well, why must I be sidelined?'”

Simone Ashley starring in This Tempting Madness

OHMYGOSSIP — Simone Ashley has been cast in ‘This Tempting Madness’.
The 28-year-old star will play the lead role in the indie thriller directed by Jennifer E. Montgomery that has recently wrapped production in Los Angeles.
The film is inspired by a true story and follows a young woman (Ashley), who awakens from a coma with grievous injuries, her memory fractured and her husband arrested.
However, as she puts together the pieces of her past, she starts to question her own actions and her perception of reality.
Montgomery has penned the script with her husband Andrew M. Davis and the pair will produce the flick for their Smoke Jumper Films banner.
Simone is best known for her role as Kate Bridgerton in the second season of the Netflix period drama ‘Bridgerton’ and previously revealed how she loved the way her alter ego “breaks the rules”.
Speaking on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, she said: “I like the fact that she’s [Kate] not a people pleaser, and she wasn’t afraid to be opinionated and controversial; break the rules a little bit.”
Simone described the process of being cast in the series – in which she will reprise her role for the third season – as “all a whirlwind”.
The ‘Sex Education’ star said: “It was all a whirlwind; it happened in two weeks. I sent in some self-tapes the first week and by the second I was meeting with Jonny [Jonathan Bailey] for a chemistry test.
“Everyone knew about the show and was talking about it and was wondering what would happen in season two, but I had to keep it quiet for a few days.”

Daisy May Cooper keen to write and star in movie about Katie Price’s life

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy May Cooper is determined to write and star in a movie about Katie Price’s life.
The 37-year-old actress – who rose to fame after starring in the BBC sitcom ‘This Country’ – admitted it’s her “ultimate ambition” to write a biopic about the controversial glamour model, 45.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, she said: “My ultimate ambition is to write the film script for Katie Price: The Movie.
“I’d play Katie and I’d make it win an Oscar and if I could get my [boobs] done like hers on a production budget, then that would be the dream.”
The ‘Witchfinder’ actress also recalled the advice she received from ‘Mission: Impossible’ star Simon Pegg, 53, in which he encouraged her to write movies if she wanted to make a lot of money.
She said: “The next I want to do is write a film. That’s what Simon Pegg did.
“I remember him saying, ‘Money wise, don’t bother with TV series, the money is in movies.’ So I’m going to give that a go.
“If that fails, I’m going to start my own OnlyFans account; whatever is the least amount of effort.”
Daisy also reflected on her successful career which was kickstarted by ‘This Country’, in which she starred alongside her brother Charlie Cooper in a comedic look at what life is like in rural England.
She explained: “This Country changed everything. My whole sense of self-worth shifted. I was validated. People were like, ‘Yeah, yeah, they’re going to write something, of course they are.’ But we did. We had zero money before. I couldn’t even afford tampons. Now I don’t have to think about money. It’s brilliant not to be on the hamster wheel of worry.”

Love Island: All Stars lineup confirmed! Chris Taylor, Georgia Harrison and Liberty Poole lead the returning islanders

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Taylor, Georgia Harrison and Liberty Poole are among the former islanders heading back into the villa for ‘Love Island: All Stars’.
Actor Chris, 33 – who dated ‘Love Island’ co-star Maura Higgins, also 33, for six months before splitting in May 2021 and landed a cameo in the ‘Barbie’ movie as one of the Kens thanks to ‘Love Island’ superfan Margot Robbie (Barbie) – will be looking for love on the new spin-off series, which airs from January 15.
He said: “Last time I was only there for 15 days, so I want to do it and enjoy it all again. I am 33 now and getting on a bit – I am getting ear hair! It would be nice to have a girl to keep my ears trimmed for me! It would be good to find a girl who I can co-parent my dog with.”
And Georgia, 29, has already set her sights on the actor.
The reality star – who had ex Stephen Bear, 33, jailed for revenge porn – said: “Chris Taylor, he’s hilarious, and the main thing I’m attracted to is a man who can make me laugh. What a fun guy and like I said, I’m looking for someone to TikTok with so I reckon he’d be game for that sort of stuff!”
Liberty, 24, is set to come face-to-face with her ex, Jake Cornish, 26, so there’s no doubt set to be some awkwardness there.
Anton Danyluk already accidentally hinted he was headed to Cape Town for the new series when he posted and deleted a snap at the airport.
The 2019 contestant said of his favourite memories for the first time on the show: “There are two that stand out for me! If I get seen out, people always ask me ‘Does your mum still shave your bum?’ Haha. That just doesn’t go away! And of course it has to be Craig David performing. It was iconic.”
Georgia Steel, 25, didn’t have much luck on the 2018 season, after Josh Denzel recoupled with Kaz Crossley during Casa Amor, but she isn’t giving up hope of meeting The One.
She said: “I’m 25, I have a house, a cat, a nice car – I have everything in life but a boyfriend, so why not give it a go.”
Kaz Kamwi, 29, made it all the way to the final with Tyler Cruickshank, in 2021.
She said: “To be totally honest, I actually really want to find love. I had a great time last series but I want to have an even better time.”
And she was coupled up with Toby Aromolaran, 24, who is also returning for ‘All Stars’, so sparks could fly again for the pair.
He ended up dating Chloe Burrows from the 2019 series, but they split a year later.
Asked how his ex will react to him signing up for the spin-off, he replied: “I don’t know how she would take it. We will always have love for each other and I think she would wish me the best of luck, as I would certainly do the same.”
Demi Jones, 25, ended up with Justin Bieber lookalike Luke Mabbott, on the 2020 winter edition of the show, but they split when they returned to the UK.
She has since battled thyroid cancer, but after regaining her confidence, she’s ready to find love again.
She said: “I am returning to the Love Island villa because I am ready again to find love.
“I lost a lot of confidence with my health issues over the last couple of years but I’ve been smashing the gym this year, finding my confidence again and I’ve got it back. So, let’s find a man!”
That leaves glamour model and mother Hannah Elizabeth, 33, who famously won the first-ever series with Jon Clark, who proposed on the show.
However, once they left the villa, their romance dwindled.
She said of her comeback: “I’m returning to the Love Island villa because I did it eight years ago and what an opportunity I never thought I’d get again.
“I’m not very good at finding love but I had a ball the first time, so I’m going to have a ball again.”
And lastly, footballer Luis Morrison, 29, another star from the first series.
He and Cally made it to the final and had the first ‘Love Island’ baby together when baby Vienna was born in 2017.
However, it wasn’t meant to be, and the pair split the following year, and Luis went on to have another child with a different partner.
Maya Jama is returning as the host alongside narrator Iain Stirling.
‘Love Island: All Stars’ kicks off at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX on January 15.

Joanna Lumley to star in new ITV travel show

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joanne Lumley will star in a brand-new ITV travel show for which she will embark on a 1,770-mile journey.
The 77-year-old actress – most famous for her role on the BBC sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ – will journey down the length of the River Danube, which runs across Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, she said: “We’re due to travel in the late spring of 2024 and it’s incredibly exciting.
“We’re due to head across a part of the world with which I’m not that familiar at all, and across all the countries through which the Danube flows.”
ITV bosses have already drawn up the route for the show, including the coast of the Black Sea and Germany’s Black Forest, although they are hesitant to travel to Ukraine due to the ongoing war with Russia.
A TV insider said: “Producers are preparing for the show to start filming soon and while destinations in some countries have already been organised, others are taking more planning.
“The Danube runs the border with Ukraine, and bosses are having to consider how safe and practical it would be for Joanna to film there as the war continues.”
Joanna’s latest hit is the Netflix thriller ‘Fool Me Once’ alongside Michelle Keegan, in which the 36-year-old actress plays an ex-army captain who attempts to unravel the mystery of seeing her murdered husband on a nanny cam.
During an appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Michelle said: “It was so much fun, and we laughed the whole way through.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star also revealed she “just couldn’t bring herself” to swear at her co-star during rehearsals.
Reflecting on the situation whilst appearing on ‘The One Show’, she said: “Honestly, when I read the script, I was like, ‘Oh no, oh no!’
“We had a bit of a laugh, didn’t we, when we were rehearsing? I don’t think I said it when we were in rehearsals, I was like, ‘I can’t! I can’t!’”
Joanna added: “When it’s not used very often, bad language comes … it slaps out of the screen at you, it does.”

Former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson confirms return to acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson is returning to acting.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star, 39, has revealed she is part of a cast of an upcoming British movie but dashed hopes of a soap comeback, as she admits it’s impossible to commit to a “long-term role” and balance being mum to four-year-old daughter Mia and five-month-old baby Thiago – whose father is ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Gorka Marquez, 33.
She said during a fan Q+A on Instagram: “I wouldn’t be able to commit to soaps long term again even though I loved it at the time.
“It changes day to day so with children it’s difficult.
“Especially with Gorks being away from August. I need to work around them ideally, which [I can do] with my radio show that I also love, I can [say] any dramas or films though, with a start and end date, filming wise, I’d absolutely do.”
Gemma shot to fame as Lisa Hunter on ‘Hollyoaks’, before joining ‘Casualty’ as Tamzin Bayle and portraying Carly Hope in ‘Emmerdale’ from 2015 to 2017.
The ‘Fever’ actress briefly returned to Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’ in March 2022.
She then let slip that she has a film on the way, adding: “I’m shooting a British movie in March actually, which is exciting!”
However, she didn’t name the flick or the genre.
In 2017, she starred in the horror film ‘Cain Hill’, alongside ‘Emmerdale’ co-star Michael Parr and ‘Kingsman 2’ actor Tony Cook.
Meanwhile, Gemma has said she and her fiancé would happily get married at a registry office.
Asked if Gorka is interested in having a big wedding, Gemma told dating coach Abi Blears on ‘The Overshare’ podcast: “No, he’d go to a registry office tomorrow and do it.
“He just says, ‘I would love the fact that we’ve all got the same name. It’s a family unit,’ where I see, the fact that we’ve had two babies is more of a commitment than just me having his name.”
The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2021.

‘This is insurance liability’: Taraji P Henson faced fight for own driver on The Color Purple

OHMYGOSSIP — Taraji P. Henson fought for ‘The Color Purple’ cast to be given drivers.
The 53-year-old actress – who portrays Shug Avery in the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s classic novel – has criticised producers for giving her and her co-stars rental cars to drive themselves to the set for filming, arguing it was an “insurance liability” and would be “dangerous” for them.
She told The New York Times newspaper: “They gave us rental cars, and I was like, ‘I can’t drive myself to set in Atlanta.’ This is insurance liability, it’s dangerous. Now they robbing people.
“What do I look like, taking myself to work by myself in a rental car? So I was like, ‘Can I get a driver or security to take me?’ I’m not asking for the moon. They’re like, ‘Well, if we do it for you, we got to do it for everybody.’ Well, do it for everybody!
“It’s stuff like that, stuff I shouldn’t have to fight for. I was on the set of ‘Empire’ fighting for trailers that wasn’t infested with bugs.”
Taraji expressed her frustration at such situations “because you fight so hard to establish a name for yourself and be respected in this town to no avail.”
And she claimed studios were reluctant to promote “Black films” globally.
She said: “With Black films, they just don’t want to take us overseas and I don’t understand that.
“Black translates all over the world, so why wouldn’t the movies? I have a following in China of all places. Y’all not going to capitalise on that? Don’t everybody want to make money here?
“I’m not the person that pulls the race card every time, but what else is it, then? Tell me. I’d rather it not be race, please give me something else.”
Her latest comments come after the ‘Hidden Figures’ actress recently broke down in tears over the pay disparity she has experienced over the years.
She told SiriusXM: “I’m just tired of working so hard, being gracious at what I do, getting paid a fraction of the cost.
“I’m tired of hearing my sisters say the same thing over and over. You get tired. I hear people go, ‘You work a lot.’ I have to. The math ain’t math-ing.
“And you start working a lot, you have a team. Big bills come with what we do. We don’t do this alone. It’s a whole team behind us. They have to get paid.”

Anne Hegerty tired of cheat accusations

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Hegerty has blasted suggestions she “cheats” on ‘The Chase’.
The 65-year-old quizzer – who is known on the show as The Governess – admitted she gets infuriated when viewers don’t believe she genuinely knows the answers to the tough questions on the popular programme.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “I get people saying all sorts of things. They ask me if I cheat. They say, ‘You’ve got someone in your ears telling you the answers’.
“Others say Bradley reads the questions faster for the Chasers. I’ve checked with a stopwatch and he doesn’t do that. If the show did any of that, wouldn’t they get six better-looking people?
“There are always going to be cynical people, but we have independent adjudicators – there’s nothing secret happening. It wouldn’t work if it wasn’t all above board.”
Anne urged people to go up against her and her fellow quizzers if they truly want to test their talents as she doesn’t think it’s worth trying to defend herself verbally.
She said: “Sometimes I respond and sometimes I think, ‘Oh, just go away… you’ve been saying this for 14 years… just shove off’.
“It’s not really worth it. People are always trying to find a reason not to trust something – they think they’re really clever.
“If people want to see how good we are, they can go against us. We’re always going to quizzes that are public. I go to quizzes a lot to maintain my skills. Sometimes I lose and sometimes I win.”
Despite the occasional negative comment, Anne has no plans to walk away from the programme or spin-off show ‘Beat The Chasers’.
She said: “I couldn’t imagine a better job.”

Why Graham Norton thinks getting STABBED changed his life ‘for the better’

OHMYGOSSIP — Graham Norton thinks getting stabbed “changed [his] life for the better”.
The ‘Wheel of Fortune’ host lost “half [his] blood” in the attack during his drama school days and while he was afraid for his life following the “trauma”, it helped put other things in perspective and he stopped getting worried about trivial things because just being alive was enough.
Asked the worst moment of his life, he told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “Getting stabbed in 1989. I lost half my blood. The bad moment I remember – because when it’s happening, is all just trauma – but then the morning after, I was in the hospital ward and I remember a nurse came up to me and said, ‘do you want us to contact anyone? Do you want us to contact your parents?’
“And in my head, I was thinking, ‘well, I don’t want to worry my parents but equally, if I’m going to die, they’d probably like to come and say goodbye to me, because they’d be annoyed if I didn’t tell them.’
“So, I said to the nurse, am I going to die? And she went, ‘Eerrrrm…’ and I was like, ‘don’t pause. This is not the place to pause. This is quite serious.’ So that was bad.
“But the positive of it was I was probably in my mid to late 20s; I was going into a third year at drama school, and it just put everything into perspective.
“They were doing the castings for the third-year shows; there were a lot of people crying and running into toilets and slamming doors. And I was just sitting there going, ‘I’m alive. I’m good. I’m golden.’
“So, in a way, it kind of changed my life for the better.”
The 60-year-old talk show host also told of another medical incident – and admitted he ended up having his appendix removed to save face after lying about being ill to get out of school.
He said: “I pretended to be sick and my mother knew I was lying so she frog-marched me down to the doctor. She’d done this with my sister. And the doctor had gone, ‘There’s nothing wrong with that girl,’ and so my sister was in even more trouble. So now it was my turn to be humiliated by the doctor.
“I got to the doctor, and he was examining me and I was saying I’ve got a pain in my tummy. And I’m going, ‘Oow, oow oow.’ And then I get sent out of the room and he’s talking to my mother and I’m sitting in the waiting room thinking, ‘Oh, here it goes, I’m in such trouble,’ and they call me back in and he says, ‘you’ve got appendicitis and we’re going to take your appendix out.’
“And in that moment, you’ve got to decide, do I fess up and have two adults very annoyed with me. Or do I have a general anaesthetic and have an operation? So, I went with the operation.
“I was very young, but yes, I went ahead with it. But that moment in the doctor’s office wasn’t great.”
