‘Not with a gastric band!’ Mark Labbett unsure how he shed 10 stone
OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Labbett “isn’t too sure” how he managed to shed 10 stone.
The ‘Chase’ quizzer, 58, has told how he has gone from 29 stone, when he was at his heaviest, to 19 stone, but insisted he hasn’t had any weight-loss surgery.
When asked on ‘Good Morning Britain’ how he did it, he said: “Not with a gastric band. I’m not too sure how.
“I weighted myself the other day and I was just under 19 stone and at my heaviest, I was just a shade under 185 kilos – 29 stone.
“Essentially I’ve been carrying a sack of coal on my back all these years.”
Mark, who is nicknamed “The Beast” on the ITV1 quiz show, revealed one of the things that has helped with his weight loss is his reduced appetite, which occurred after he suffered from a bout coronavirus.
Appearing on the show alongside his girlfriend Hayley Palmer, 41, he added: “During the pandemic, I was looking after my little boy and I really began to admire people who are full-time looking after young children.
“I don’t know how I did it, but I was lucky, and after one of the bouts of COVID my appetite went away and never really came back.
“Hayley will agree that even now I struggle to finish a meal.”
Despite his reduced appetite, Mark previously insisted he would get “hangry” if he ever took part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
He previously told the Daily Star newspaper: “I might be the campmate from hell. I get hangry, which is being angry because I’m hungry. And that is not good.
“I am a man who likes his food. I make no bones about it… my father was a butcher, so I know basic butchery. If somebody crosses me and it affects the food, I will have them up on a spit and roast them within five minutes.”
