‘Doing it for Tippy!’ Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards’ Dancing on Ice partner pulls out of series

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards is aiming to do well on ‘Dancing on Ice’ for his former pro partner Tippy Packard, after she was forced to pull out of the series.
The 60-year-old ski jumper was a late replacement for ‘Gogglebox star’ Stephen Lustig-Webb, after he had to withdraw from the show in October after breaking his ankle in training, and now Eddie’s original partner Tippy has had to withdraw.
Eddie revealed Tippy sustained a knee injury after their skates “clashed” in training, and Vicky Ogden has now replaced her as his pro skating partner.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “We’ve got a slight miscommunication and our skates clashed and we fell over and she damaged her knee.
“We thought it was a couple of days off the ice, but it turned out to be a month off the ice, and they brought in a replacement and we carried on with Vicky Ogden.
“She’s lovely, but we’re kind of doing this for Tippy as well and Stephen, who broke his ankle.”
But Eddie admitted taking part in the series is “a bit daunting”, because he hasn’t been able to train as much as his fellow stars due to being a late replacement.
He added: “So it’s a bit daunting because everyone has been doing it for three months and I have been doing it for three weeks.”
Amber Davies, Greg Rutherford, Hannah Spearritt, Roxy Shahidi, Ryan Thomas, and Ricky Hatton will skate on Sunday, while the other six stars, Eddie, Adele Roberts, Claire Sweeney, Lou Sanders, Miles Nazaire, and Ricky Norwood, will have to wait until Sunday January 21st for their first skate.
‘Dancing on Ice’ starts Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Legendary ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ actress dead aged 80

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgina Hale has died aged 80.
The veteran soap actress – best known for her parts in ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ – passed away on 4 January, but her death only came to light on Wednesday (10.01.24) night when fans took to social media to mourn her passing.
Many said they “loved” the actress, while others filled social media with memories of seeing her act and said her death had left them “devastated”.
Away from soaps, Georgina was also renowned for her work in the films of Ken Russell.
Her performance in 1974’s ‘Mahler’ earned her a Bafta film award as most promising newcomer and she received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for her role in the original London production of ‘Steaming’.
Georgina’s other TV parts included an appearance in ‘Doctor Who – The Happiness Patrol’ in 1988.
In 2010, the actress was listed as one of 10 great British character actors by The Guardian.
Born in Ilford, Essex, in 1943 to publicans Elsie (née Fordham) and George Robert Hole, Georgina married John Forgeham in 1964, but they later divorced.
Her film debut came in the historical drama ‘Eagle in a Cage’ in 1971, in which she played Betsy Balcombe alongside Kenneth Haigh as Napoleon Bonaparte.
Georgina admitted she grew up overweight and shy, and kept changing school as her parents moved around different pubs, which she believed devastated her education.
She told the Glasgow Herald in 2002: “I couldn’t write, spell or read.
“There was a real shame in it, and you were the dunce of the class, always getting whacked around the head.”
Georgina’s mum died when she was 18, followed by her father four years later and at the age of 19 she was given tickets to see ‘West Side Story’, which she said “blew my mind” as she’d never stepped foot in a theatre before seeing the show.
She went on to train at Rada and graduated in 1965, and made her stage name Hale.
The actress had parts in Royal Shakespeare Company productions and her West End debut came in Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’ in London’s Duke of York’s theatre in 1976.
Georgina also succeeded Elizabeth Estensen in the eponymous role of T-Bag, the villainous, tea-drinking sorceress in a succession of children’s adventure shows made by Thames Television.

Chloe Brockett in talks for Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Brockett is in talks for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star is keen to make a name for herself in the fly-on-the-wall show because her future is currently uncertain after she was suspended from ‘TOWIE’ following an alleged “glass-throwing” incident, while ITV producers think her fiery temper will make for “great TV”.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Chloe Brockett is in talks to appear on the show – nothing is signed yet but she’s really excited and can’t stop telling people.
“She grew up watching the show and her return to ‘TOWIE’ is still uncertain so it would be a good show to do while she’s waiting to see if she’ll go back to it.
“ITV already know Chloe is great TV.”
Show bosses are believed to be spending £2 million to secure a strong line-up of housemates, with their eyes on “intriguing” people, rather than just big-name stars.
It has been speculated the likes of former ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh, controversial WAG Rebekah Vardy, and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head panellist Shirley Ballas could appear.
A source previously said: “The team behind the programme are being clever about the kind of celebs they’re considering.
“They don’t just want big names in there — they want stars who will bring something truly intriguing.
“Louis is just the kind of figure they want in the house — someone with serious life experience who not only has something to say, but isn’t afraid to say it.
“These characters have delivered some of the most outstanding moments of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in the past and they’ll want to produce those again. That means they may need to splash some cash to secure the people they have their eye on — but it’s a worthwhile investment.”
A spokesperson for the show insisted nothing has yet been finalised.
They said: “Any names for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ are purely speculation.”

Avatar 3 production set to resume next month

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Avatar 3’ production will continue next month.
Sam Worthington – who plays Jake Sully opposite Zoe Saldana as Neytiri in the epic fantasy franchise – has given a major update with work set to resume in February ahead of the movie’s planned 2025 release.
He told People magazine: “We go back to work on it in a month and it’s big. It’s bigger than you can imagine.”
It’s unclear what work is still being done, but the 47-year-old star is clearly expecting big things from the movie.
Director James Cameron recently confirmed plans to spend two years on “post production” for ‘Avatar 3’, while he is still targeting its launch by the end of next year.
Speaking at a breakfast for ‘TV New Zealand’, he said: “We’re into a very hectic two years of post production right now, so it’ll be Christmas of ’25.”
Earlier last year, he offered a hint of what fans can expect from the next sequel as he pushes on with plans to have five films in the blockbuster series.
He told Deadline: “Fire has a symbolic purpose in the film and there’s a culture that is specifically around that concept. That’s probably saying too much as we speak.”
Disney previously announced the next three movies in the sci-fi franchise have been delayed by a year, with ‘Avatar 3’ – the follow-up to last year’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ – coming on December 19, 2025.
‘Avatar 4’ will drop four years later, with ‘Avatar 5’ expected on the same date in 2031, a whole 22 years after the first movie was released in 2009.
Worthington will be 55 years old in the last movie, while Saldana previously voiced her dismay at how old she will be.
Taking to her Instagram Story over the summer, the 45-year-old actress wrote: “Great! I’m gonna be 53 when the last Avatar comes out [shocked face emoji].
“I was 27 when I shot the very first Avatar.”

Jon Favreau to direct ‘The Mandalorian + Grogu’ movie

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Mandalorian’ is heading for the big screen.
LucasFilm have announced the Disney+ series creator, Jon Favreau, is to direct and produce ‘The Mandalorian + Grogu’, though it is currently unconfirmed if Pedro Pascal will be reprising his role as bounty hunter Din Djarin for the movie.
Jon said in a statement: “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
He will be joined as producer by LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni.
Kathleen said: “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”
A fourth season of ‘The Mandalorian’ is currently in development and the movie is likely to be the first film in the ‘Star Wars’ universe since 2019’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’.
In November, ‘Ahsoka’ director Dave spoke of his excitement at his new role at Lucasfilm, which would allow him to be hands-on from the beginning of all projects in the ‘Star Wars’ world.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “Now I’m what’s called chief creative officer of Lucasfilm.
“In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways.
“In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on.
“When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”
When it comes to his process, he insisted he won’t be “telling people what to do”, but he will try to “help them tell the best story”, describing it as “a Jedi Council”.

Bradley Walsh claims celebrities are scared of The Chase

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Walsh has claimed some celebrities are scared of ‘The Chase’.
The 63-year-old host is returning with some famous faces on Friday (12.01.24) but he admitted he struggled to get some stars to sign up when he did some recruiting at the Royal Variety Performance last month.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I want Rick Astley to come on the show… Hannah Waddingham, Danny Jones, I was recruiting them all.
“It was the weirdest Chase recruitment drive ever. But you know what happens? As soon as you mention the Chasers, they freeze.
“They panic, they want to be able to get it right.”
Bradley explained how plenty of “clever celebrities” have fallen to the super quizzers, and the upcoming ITV series has seen them struggle too.
He added: “I’ve had a lot of clever celebrities come on who have failed at the first hurdle.
“That happened this series too — out on the first question, gutting. And it’s gutting for the Chasers too because they want to play them.”
One star who had enough confidence to take on the challenge is ‘Pointless’ presenter Alexander Armstrong, who was recently unveiled on ‘The Masked Singer’ over the weekend.
The two old friends had a great time reuniting, as their studios are right next to each other.
Bradley said: “To have him come on and have a go was great for me. I loved it. When we do ‘Beat The Chasers’, ‘Pointless’ is in the next studio.
“I’d always go past the make-up room, ‘Morning lads, how are you?’. It was great to have Xander on.
“He took it really seriously. He’s a very clever dude, I mean, seriously clever.”

Coronation Street’s Joseph Brown to receive shock diagnosis after being rushed to hospital

OHMYGOSSIP — Joseph Brown is to be diagnosed with Lyme’s disease on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 12-year-old – who is played by William Flanagan on the ITV1 soap opera – has worried his dad Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) and stepmother Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) in recent weeks as he exhibited signs of a mystery illness but in upcoming scenes, the schoolboy will receive the news that he is suffering from the bacterial infection that is caused by the bite of an infected tick.
In the last few weeks, viewers have seen Gemma removed from the home after being wrongly accused of poisoning her stepson but when Joseph collapses at home in front of his dad and grandmother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove), he is rushed to hospital where medics explain that it is likely he had been bitten on a recent camping holiday.
The family is relieved to hear that Joseph – whose biological mother Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) died off-screen in a car crash in 2017 – is expected to make a full recovery.
To develop the storyline, ‘Coronation Street’ has been working closely with Lyme Disease UK who have been consulted on scripts regarding symptoms and treatment.
Julia Knight is a retired Specialist Practitioner Paediatric Nurse in Community Nursing, who has experienced Lyme disease herself.
She volunteers for the charity Lyme Disease UK as their Press and Community Outreach Manager, giving talks, interviews and writing articles to raise awareness of Lyme disease and how to prevent it.
She said: “It has been my great pleasure to work with the Coronation Street scriptwriters to give them advice and pointers so that they could produce a storyline that is both realistic and engaging. Lyme disease can easily be overlooked if a person only shows viral-type symptoms initially, as in the storyline.
“Raising awareness of the disease and giving people the information about how to prevent it is essential.
“With knowledge, bites can be prevented, and awareness of possible symptoms means that people who do contract the disease can seek medical advice promptly.

Musical theatre star Hayley Tammadon – who played Andrea Beckett on ‘Coronation Street’ in the years prior to Tony’s arrival on the show – said: “I’m so so sorry Tony.”

Throughout his career in television, Michael had also worked on other hit shows like ‘Shameless’, and ‘DCI Banks’ and most recently worked on the acclaimed BBC One prison drama ‘Time’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola are joining ‘This Morning’.
The 22-year-old actress won the most recent series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with professional partner Vito, 31, and now the pair are teaming up with the ITV1 daytime programme to show to instruct three couples how to dance at celebratory events.
Speaking on Wednesday’s (10.01.24) edition of ‘This Morning’, she said: “We are so, so excited! I’m apparently gonna be turning into a teacher and we are going to basically give three couples some dancing lessons. When couples kind of go to an event, a wedding, a birthday, or something like and you’re always trying to get one of them up? We’re gonna kind of show them the moves.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who left her long-running role as Faye Windass on the ITV1 soap opera just months before taking to the dance floor – added that dancing has become a “huge part” of her life and admitted before joining the live arena tour of ‘Strictly’ that she still “cannot believe” that she won.
She said: “Dancing helps me in a lot of ways and it has become a huge part of my life. It’s something that I really, really fell in love with, and if we can kind of help people feel the same way then that is amazing.

Toby Jones took pay cut to make Mr Bates vs the Post Office

OHMYGOSSIP — Toby Jones took a pay cut to make ‘Mr Bates vs the Post Office’.
The 57-year-old actor, who has appeared in the ‘Harry Potter’ movies, stars in the new ITV drama as former subpostmaster Alan Bates, and documents his campaign for justice during the Post Office scandal, which saw innocent people receive prison sentences because of the faulty computer system Horizon.
Explaining to The Times why he took a reduced fee for the programme, he said: “There is a huge possibility that shows like Mr Bates will not be made in the future. Not because TV commissioners don’t want them, but because they can’t afford them. The financial pressures are too great.
“These kinds of four-part, very British, thoughtful dramas are massively at threat because distributors worry that it is less likely that they will recoup their investment than they would from an international thriller with lots of episodes.”
The ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ star also appeared on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, and explained that he wanted to make the show in order to bring more attention to the victims of the scandal.
He said: “Some of them went to prison, some of them lost their minds and some of them committed suicide and this huge tragedy still goes on because they haven’t been paid compensation or anything.
“The really cynical thing was that people were told they were on their own and no one else was experiencing problems with the IT system.
“I hope that this drama and the documentary that goes with it will also mobilise the general population again and make people feel like this has got to be sorted. Maybe even turning into an election issue.”

Peaky Blinders star Sophie Rundle admits she is ‘scared’ of her own character

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Rundle is “scared” of her own ‘Peaky Blinders’ character.
The 35-year-old actress played Ada Shelby in the acclaimed BBC One drama series that focused on career criminals in Birmingham just after the end of World War I and admitted it is only once she puts her blonde tresses under the dark wig that she feels she “becomes” the daughter of the gangster family.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she said: “She scares me, and I am her! I put the wig on and I become Ada Shelby I guess.”
Sophie – who played the role over the course of the entire series from 2013 until its finale in 2022 – reflected that the success of the series is probably owed to the advent of streaming platforms as she recalled the initial response as being favourable but quite small before it exploded in popularity.
She said: “It’s mad…but when we did the first series, 10 years ago now, it just kind of came out and people liked it. But then streaming platforms kind of emerged over that time and I think it’s because of them that this huge fanbase grew and grew. It grew with it, it became this huge thing which was kind of nice. We didn’t have that thing of doing the first series and then it was this big splash. It kind of became its own beast and we didn’t really notice it happening.
“At one point I went to Italy and I was walking around in this little town and there was a ‘Peaky Blinders’ bar. I thought ‘Hmm, that’s strange’ and then I noticed it was getting bigger and bigger.”
The Buckinghamshire-born star has played a number of roles on TV that have requried her to use a Northern accent and is now appearing as PC Joanna Marshall in the Manchester-based ITV1 thriller ‘After the Flood’ and admitted that she now feels like an honorary Northerner.
She said: “I’ve spent so long being a Northerner. Do you think I could actually get a membership now? It’s just been so long and so much of British telly is filmed up there and it’s become my other personality, along with Ada Shelby.”

Call The Midwife star Jenny Agutter’s greatest fear is people think she’s a real midwife

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Agutter worries fans will think she is actually a midwife.
The 71-year-old actress has played Sister Julienne on the BBC One period drama ‘Call The Midwife’ since its inception more than a decade ago and admitted she worries viewers would believe she would be able to deliver a baby even though she is not really a medical professional.
She told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “My fear is that I’ll be somewhere and see someone who’s heavily pregnant going into labour and people will expect me to bring into action.
“The most useful thing I could do is hold their hand and say soothing things or maybe even cut the umbilical cord.”
Just days after the launch of the 13th series of ‘Call the Midwife’, Jenny admitted that she never believed it would last more than a year on screen despite its “beautiful” writing as she mused that the show’s chronological timeline is perhaps what helps make the show a success.
She explained: “I never thought we were going to go beyond the first year, despite how beautifully written it was by Heidi Thomas, with a really good cast and director. And now 13 years on, here we are.
“I think what helps make it a hit is that we go chronologically year by year with each series, starting in 1958. We reflect changes in society, including recovery from the war, communities working together, the economy and immigration.”
The actress was also asked about her role in the 1970 classic ‘The Railway Children’, and why it has become a beloved piece of British filmmaking history.
Jenny explained that she believed it was the movie’s core issues of discovery, love and family that had given the picture its legendary status.
She said: “It’s about children discovering the adult work. And because it’s in simpler Edwardian times, there’s an innocence, and it looks towards a better future.
“They’re encountering peculiar new people, and recognising the differences in class and society.
“But at the core is just this family wanting to be together, facing adversity and finding a way through it.”

Olivia Attwood Dack keen to step away from reality TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood Dack wants to move away from reality TV.
The 32-year-old TV star has carved out a career as a documentary presenter since appearing on the ITV2 dating show ‘Love Island’ in 2017 and recently documented her wedding to Sunderland footballer Bradley Dack on ‘Olivia Marries Her Match’, but wants to continue focusing on things with a “heavier” theme.
She is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column as saying: “We’ve turned down a lot [of reality shows] because the documentaries are very time-consuming, and right now this is my focus.
“I want to cover a lot more topics.
“I’d like to take myself into a different environment, maybe abroad – something with a heavier tone.”
Despite wanting to wind down her focus on reality TV, Olivia revealed she and Bradley still hoping to find time to produce another series of their show because of its popularity.
She said: “It’s still in popular demand, so we’re hoping to find some time for another series next year.”
In recent years, Olivia has tacked topics such as online sex work and cyberbullying for her ITVX documentaries and is now examining the perils of cosmetic surgery in ‘The Price of Perfection’.
Ahead of its release on 18 January, Olivia – who has also started appearing as a panellist on ‘Loose Women’ – revealed that she regretted getting her breasts augmented when she was 20.
She told The Times newspaper: “I was fixated and it was cheap and quick.
“These bloody boobs were so heavy. I was happy for a year, then I realised they didn’t look right for my frame. The weight of the implants started to stretch my skin and they got lower and lower. I started to think, ‘This isn’t what I signed up for at all.’”

TheWrap is reporting that the horror filmmaker will write and direct a new version of the film for Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
‘The Blob’ first hit cinema screens in 1958 and starred Steve McQueen in his first leading role. The plot follows a carnivorous amoeboidal alien that crashes to Earth from outer space, landing in a rural town, and proceeds to devour every living being in its path, growing in size each time,

Robert Pattinson’s sci-fi movie Mickey 17 sees release delayed

OHMYGOSSIP — The release date of Robert Pattinson’s new movie ‘Mickey 17’ has been delayed.
The sci-fi film – which is inspired by Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel ‘Mickey7’ – was scheduled to come out on March 29, but Warner Bros. Pictures has now announced that ‘Godzilla’ sequel ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ is replacing it on the release slate.
The reason for the delay is due to production challenges related to last year’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
Director Bong Joon-ho’s film follows Mickey Barnes – played by Pattinson – who is a disposable employee, known as an “expendable”, on an expedition to colonise the ice planet Niflheim. If Mickey dies a new body is regenerated with the majority of his memories intact.
The synopsis reads: “Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous — even suicidal — the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.
“Mickey understands the terms of his deal… and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.”
Pattinson, 37, is joined in the cast by Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Meanwhile, Pattinson is reprising his role as DC Comics superhero Batman in Matt Reeves’ sequel to the 2022 blockbuster ‘The Batman’.
