Jason Watkins leads detective drama cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Watkins will be starring in a new detective series for ITV.
The ‘Crown’ actor is set to team up with ‘Cold Feet’ star Tala Gouveia as DS Dodds and DCI McDonald in ‘Invisible’, a new series of feature-length stories set in Bath.
The first outing for the show will feature two stories, the first of which will explore a greed-fuelled murder in upper class society, while the second will probe an unexplained death in a private hospital for recovering addicts.
Mammoth Screen boss Damien Timmer – who will executive produce – said: “With the city of modern Bath as the backdrop to their double act, and with Robert’s scripts which crackle with wit, modernity and cleverness, I’m confident viewers will be gripped as they investigate their first intriguing cases together.”
Jason’s detective character is described as a quiet and unassuming man with a talent for deciphering puzzles, while Tala’s DCI McDonald, who has transferred from London is ambitious and a “tough, driven, battering ram of a cop who cracks cases through sheer force of will”.
Damien added: “We’re delighted to have Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins on board to bring the McDonald and Dodds to life.
“With the city of modern Bath as the backdrop to their double act, and with Robert’s scripts which crackle with wit, modernity and cleverness, I’m confident viewers will be gripped as they investigate their first intriguing cases together.”
Filming for the detective series begins in August 2019.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment will distribute ‘Invisible’ internationally.

Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins will fix their romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins are set to fix their rocky patch with one final date on ‘Love Island’.
The couple hit a block in the road on the ITV2 reality show earlier this week, when Curtis confided in Maura that fellow Islander Jordan Hames had feelings for India Reynolds, which prompted Maura to break Curtis’ trust and tell Jordan’s girlfriend Anna Vakili.
But following Wednesday (24.07.19) night’s double dumping – which saw Jordan and Anna booted from the villa alongside Chris Taylor and Harley Brash – ‘Love Island’ bosses will send all the remaining couples out on one last date on Thursday (25.07.19), where Curtis and Maura plan to patch things up.
During the episode, Maura will receive a text which says: “Maura and Curtis. It’s time to get ready to leave the villa for your final date! #facethemusic #forbiddenfruit (sic)”
Seemingly forgetting about their previous spat, the two excitedly get ready for their date, with Curtis saying his partner makes him “smile”.
He says: “I’m just so excited. Maura makes me smile. She makes me happy and she makes me laugh. I could just look at her all day because she is absolutely beautiful.”
The couple were greeted with live music on their date, which professional dancer Curtis used as the perfect opportunity to show off his moves.
The 23-year-old dancer then says: “Do you think your parents will like me?”
And Maura, 28, replies: “Yes! Mammy would absolutely love you. I would be nervous to meet your parents.”
Despite previously arguing about the bad advice Curtis gave to Jordan – in which he encouraged his fellow islander to make a move on India – the couple couldn’t resist gushing over one another.
Maura tells him: “I know I don’t tell you a lot of the time that I like you, but I really do. You’re funny and I love your smile. When you smile, I smile.”
Curtis says he considers himself “a very lucky man” before the two share a final dance to the live harp playing in the background.
Meanwhile, Ovie Soko confesses how he thought his role was to be Amber Gill’s “guardian angel” before India walked in and coupled up with the basketball player.
And Amber admits to having an “instant connection” with Greg the moment he walked in, despite previously being heartbroken during her split with Michael Griffiths.

Tamer Hassan is set to enter the Love Island villa

OHMYGOSSIP — Belle Hassan’s famous father Tamer Hassan is set to surprise her by entering the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 21-year-old makeup artist is currently starring in the ITV2 reality show, which comes to an end on Monday (29.07.19), but before she reaches the final day with her partner Anton Danyluk, she’s set to be surprised with a visit from her actor father Tamer.
The ‘Football Factory’ star will reportedly appear on the show this weekend, where he’ll come face to face with Belle’s partner Anton for the first time, after previously saying he thought he was “disrespectful and disloyal”.
A source told The Sun Online: “Bosses are thrilled he’s agreed to appear on the show – he’s a movie legend and they can’t wait to see what happens when he finally meets Anton! Anything could happen!”
Tamer is set to take part in the show’s annual Family Day, where Islanders are visited by their parents, who get to give their child’s partner a grilling live on TV.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor will have plenty to discuss with gym owner Anton, as he previously slammed the hunk for giving his number number to a shop assistant, and then snogging Anna Vakili during a challenge.
He said: “Anton is 100 percent wrong for kissing Anna. It was disrespectful and disloyal, two of Belle’s biggest hates.
“I am now doubting Anton’s feelings for Belle and that makes me an unhappy dad! On the outside Belle would not tolerate that behaviour.
“If Anton genuinely has feelings for my daughter, he’s going to have to work harder to win her back, to gain her trust.”
Anton and Belle have since patched up their romance after the Scottish personal trainer apologised to the blonde beauty.

Maura Higgins is ‘losing patience’ with Curtis Pritchard

OHMYGOSSIP — Maura Higgins is “losing [her] patience” with Curtis Pritchard, because he won’t have sex with her.
The ‘Love Island’ couple are only days away from the final of the ITV2 reality show on Monday (29.07.19), but Maura is beginning to get frustrated with her partner Curtis – whom she paired up with after his former half-girlfriend Amy Hart left the show following their dramatic split – over his lack of affection toward her in the bedroom.
Speaking to Molly-Mae Hague during Thursday’s (25.07.19) episode, the 28-year-old model said: “I had zero action last night. Zero.”
And Molly-Mae joked Maura has been unlucky with her partners during her time on the show, as she’s been waiting for someone to make a move on her ever since she entered the villa.
The 19-year-old social media influencer replied: “Zero yeah, I mean I think that’s apparent. But, it’s better than what you were getting before. You were going through a stage in here where you were literally that horny that I literally thought I was going to have to do something serious to help you out.”
Maura then said she plans to “keep trying” to get the 23-year-old professional dancer to pay attention to her in bed, and Molly-Mae sympathised with her situation.
She said: “Yeah, I was gonna ask you at one stage. I actually think Curtis has got my nails tattooed on his back. I’ll keep trying, yeah I know there’s only a few days left but … I’m actually losing my patience because I’m a horny devil and …”
To which Molly-Mae interjected: “Yeah but at the end of the day Maura, like if I got into bed with Tommy, no word of a lie, and I started kissing or like … not sticking it on him but just like, you know, trying to instigate things, and he was giving me absolutely nothing back, I’d be absolutely livid. And I’d be like ‘Do you know what, you can sleep by yourself.’ ”
And Maura then added: “Like yeah, fair enough I get that the man doesn’t want to have sex, but just f***ing give me something.”
‘Love Island’ continues Friday (26.07.19) at 9pm on ITV2.

Kym Marsh to explore romance fraud in new documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh will front a new investigative documentary about “romance fraud”.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress will team up with reporter Ashley John-Baptiste for BBC One series ‘For Love Or Money’ to examine the “sophisticated techniques” used by con artists.
The BBC said: “Each episode of the series will see Kym and Ashley look into one case, in the forensic style of a crime investigation.
“Their aim is to expose the sophisticated techniques fraudsters use to pull at an individual’s heartstrings, so they can empty their bank balance.
“They will find out how the criminals manage to appear so convincing, identify the real owners of the photos they’ve used to trick people into trusting them, unpick the other evidence they’ve supplied, and sometimes even make contact with the crooks themselves.”
The 43-year-old actress and Ashley will explore a “rapidly growing” type of scam called ‘romance fraud’ that sees unsuspecting online daters conned out of cash.
According to statistics, more than 4,500 romance frauds were reported to Action Fraud in 2018.
Kym, who was a victim of identity fraud, admitted working on the show has been a “real eye-opener”.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “This series has been a real eye-opener. It was relatable to me as, in the past, I discovered that my identity had been stolen so a scammer could use it.
“I was horrified. It’s such an awful crime and its long-lasting effects are emotional and financial.”
The actress, best known for playing Michelle Connor on the ITV soap, believes that the series will “stop people in their tracks” to analyse who they speak to online.

The 89-year-old singer could be the first person to win the show twice in a year, as having being crowned victor of this year’s series, he’s set to face judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams once again in the best-of special.
A source told Metro.co.uk: “Colin is everything that Britain’s Got Talent should represent so it seems only fair that he be given a chance to keep his title – and leave an even more historical note.
“He has been achieving a life-long dream with this show so was more than happy to come back to the series once again.”
The Chelsea pensioner, who won over the UK with his voice and love of his late wife Joan, will be back competing with other iconic stars of the talent show and is already being tipped to win again.
The source continued: “It’s no secret that Colin won over the entire UK when was first on the show. If anyone deserves to win BGT twice, it’s him.”
Colin will be returning just two months after he was crowned champion of this year’s ‘BGT’ and the veteran crooner recently joked his success on the show had brought him some new attention from the ladies.
He said: “I don’t think I’m a heart-throb but I’m getting a lot of attention from the ladies. I’m not complaining mind you!
“As a Chelsea Pensioner you get used to having your picture taken.
“Every time we go out in our scarlet coats we get recognised.
“It’s just that now people want their picture taken with me for a different reason.”
He joked: “But if I get drunk and fall out of a nightclub I’ll make sure no one sees me.”

John Barrowman would ‘love’ Extra Camp job

OHMYGOSSIP — John Barrowman would “love” to host ‘I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp’.
The 52-year-old presenter “had a ball” when he took part in the 2018 series of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ – on which he came third – so he’d jump at the chance to head Down Under again to work on the spin-off show after regular hosts Joe Swash and Scarlett Moffatt recently stepped down.
Asked about the possibility of the job, he told RadioTimes.com: “I’d love to do it – absolutely! I had a ball in the jungle! And I’ve said that I would go back at the drop of a hat if they did an all-star version.
“I really enjoyed my time in there – yes, if ITV wanted me to host the after show, I’d be more than happy to do it!”
The former ‘Doctor Who’ actor’s campmate Emily Atack has also been linked with one of the spots on the show and John thinks that they, along with returning host Joel Dommett would be the perfect presenting trio.
He said: “With us three, I could be the maturity and they could be the fun. We’d have a nice balance and I think that could work.”
John competed on ‘Dancing On Ice’ in 2006 and would love to have another try at the skating contest, and insisted he won’t turn down offers of reality TV if he thinks they are “fun”.
He said: “[I’m] always game for these kind of things.
“I’m not one of those actors who says ‘oh no, it’s deeming to the craft!’ F**k that! If I’m asked to do something and I think it’s fun, I’ll go ahead and do it! I’d go back and give ‘Dancing on Ice’ a try again if they asked me to. Under whatever capacity.”
However, the ‘Torchwood’ star does have his limits.
He added: “”I just wouldn’t do some documentary shows because I couldn’t wait for an owl to s*** in a barn! That’s somebody else’s gig. I love nature, but I wouldn’t do that.”

Simon Cowell doubles Britain’s Got Talent prize

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell has doubled the ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’ prize to £100,000.
The 59-year old judge was stunned to learn from hosts Ant and Dec during filming that the all-stars series winner would scoop £50,000 so pledged to boost the fund.
Simon said: “Did you just say fifty grand? That’s it?”
Ant replied: “That’s it. Unless you want to double it. Do you want to double it?”
As the live audience cheered, he replied: Yes, I will. It’s a hundred grand everybody.”
Although there were huge cheers of agreement in the crowd, fellow judges Amanda Holden and David Walliams were too busy arguing.
The spat begin when a female magician showed cards with men’s faces on them.
Referring to the actress’ ex-husband – who she split from in 2003 – David quipped about one card: “He looks like Les Dennis.”
Unimpressed, Amanda replied: “That was 20 years ago, David, and don’t you have an ex-wife?
“But we’re never allowed to talk about Lara, are we?”
An insider told The Sun Online: “David makes the same joke every year. Amanda was furious and felt it was time the tables were turned.
“His jokes – including to Simon Cowell – are wearing thin on everyone involved in the show.
“David did apologise and they hugged it out in the end.”
David, 47, has rarely mentioned his marriage to Lara Stone in any interviews since they divorced in September 2015 after five years of marriage.
The former couple have son Alfred, six, together.
‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’ show is being filmed on a giant purpose-built set at the SSE Arena, Wembley, north London.

Andrea Riseborough to star in To Leslie

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrea Riseborough is set to star in ‘To Leslie’.
The 37-year-old actress – who is best known for her roles in acclaimed Channel 4 miniseries ‘The Devil’s Whore’ and has appeared in films such as 2017’s ‘Battle of the Sexes’ and 2014’s ‘Birdman’ – has boarded the upcoming drama penned by Ryan Binaco, based on the life of his mother.
‘Bloodline’ director Michael Morris is set to helm the project which will follow Andrea as Leslie, a single mother from West Texas who quickly squanders her winnings after winning the lottery.
According to Deadline, the film will see Leslie: “Years later, with her charm running out and nowhere to go, she fights to rebuild her life and find redemption.”
And the filmmaker only ever had Andrea in mind for the lead role.
He said in a statement: “Ever since we worked together on Bloodline I knew that Andrea would be the ideal person to play Leslie.
“Andrea is totally committed to the truth. She thinks incredibly deeply about the smallest moments and as an actress she is constantly surprising, challenging and fearless.”
Andrea recently starred in ‘Battle of the Sexes’ which followed her Marilyn Barnett – the secret lover of then-closeted lesbian tennis legend Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and she previously opened up about how “relieved and comfortable” she was when she found out she had a sex scene with her friend.
She said: “People are always fascinated by that question. But no, it wasn’t odd for me. Emma and I knew each other well enough to feel relieved and comfortable to be doing this with each other, which is not often something you find playing opposite someone romantically.
“What’s more difficult is when you don’t have great chemistry with someone – Emma and I have great chemistry. Or else if somebody is unprofessional or their ego is getting in the way or there is inappropriate behaviour.”

Anneka Rice ‘signs up’ for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Anneka Rice is the latest star rumoured to have signed up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 60-year-old broadcaster – whose pert posterior became a topic of conversation in the 80s when she appeared on ‘Treasure Hunt’ in a tight jumpsuit – had been approached for last year’s series of the BBC One ballroom and Latin dance competition, but it’s believed she has finally agreed to step onto the dancefloor and show off her best moves on the contest later this year.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “‘Strictly’ believe they’ve made a top signing in Anneka.
“She’s a TV institution and a familiar face to viewers who’ll be rooting for her. Anneka is in great shape and can’t wait to strut her stuff.”
The latest name attached to the show comes hot off the heels of ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Jamie Laing reportedly being approached by BBC bosses about taking part after they changed their policy on including reality TV stars.
A source said: “It is a surprising U-turn from the BBC and ‘Strictly’.
“They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.
“There’s only so many famous faces out there so clearly they have decided enough is enough and have had to retreat a bit in order to get enough celebs for this year.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that ‘Strictly’ bosses are using superheroes as code names for contestants.
The team behind the show is trying to keep the official lineup under wraps for now, and they are using some comic book monikers as the nicknames for this year’s batch of celebrities to keep their identities a secret until the big reveal.
An insider said: “The code names are a fun way of keeping everything hush hush ahead of the reveal.
“They try to mix it up every time and this year it will be a load of Batman, Superman and of course, Superwoman.”
Last year, the likes of Katie Piper and reigning champion Stacey Dooley were named after cheeses.
This time around, the likes of former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Catherine Tyldesley and Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin are said to be featuring in the lineup.

Jai McDowall to replace Susan Boyle on BGT Champions

OHMYGOSSIP — Jai McDowall will replace Susan Boyle in ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’.
The 2011 ‘BGT’ winner has been recruited by producers as a replacement for the ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ singer – who was runner-up on Simon Cowell’s show in 2009 and has become a huge star – after she was forced to pull out of the special series due to scheduling conflicts.
And Jai, 33, is set to get a second chance at stardom after show bosses chose him over 2014 finalist Lucy Kay, 30.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “They didn’t want to be short of contestants and SuBo was looking unlikely to confirm her appearance.
“Jai was ecstatic and will be putting his heart into the show, in the hope of making it right to the end.”
Susan appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’ last year and also released her eighth studio album ‘Ten’ – celebrating a decade in the spotlight – meaning her schedule is too packed to juggle the show as well.
A spokesperson previously said: “Susan has a busy year ahead with lots of performances coming up, trips to the US, headlining BBC Proms in September, as well as preparing for her upcoming tour.
“She is enjoying celebrating the decade since she first appeared on ‘BGT’ and her life changing for the better.
“She loved being part of ‘AGT Champions’ and, whether she is able to make it or not, wishes the contestants taking part on ‘BGT Champions’ the best of luck.”
Meanwhile, dance group Diversity – who beat Susan to be crowned winners 10 years ago – also confirmed they won’t be available for a triumphant return.
Ashley Banjo said: “Who would have thought ten years ago when we won ‘BGT’ we would be preparing for our biggest tour yet, Born Ready? While we are unable to take part, we wish all the acts the best of luck.”
Crooner Paul Potts, dance duo Stavros Flatley and knife swallower Alex Magala are all taking part in the new show.

Jennifer Lopez to play real-life drug lord in The Godmother

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez will play a real-life drug lord in ‘The Godmother’.
The singer-and-actress has just turned 50 and it has been revealed her next role will see her portray Griselda Blanco in the drama for STX Films – the company behind the ‘Medicine’ singer’s last film ‘Second Act’.
Griselda – who was also known as Black Widow and the Cocaine Godmother – was a Colombian drug lord of the Medellín Cartel and a pioneer in the Miami-based cocaine drug trade from the 80s until the 2000s.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer is also starring and producer and may even make her directional debut with the project.
The ‘Made in Manhattan’ star also has another film in the works with STX, ‘Marry Me’, which will see her play Owen Wilson’s wife.
The upcoming rom-com has been compared to ‘Notting Hill’ and ‘The Proposal’.
Jennifer will play a pop star who marries a stranger (Owen) after finding out her fiancé has cheated on her.
The pair meet after the singer holds a ‘marry me’ sign at one of her concerts.
STX chairman Adam Fogelson commented on ‘Marley & Me’ star Owen’s addition to the movie: “Owen is a hilarious and charismatic addition to this film, and the perfect person to play opposite Jen in a role that was quite literally made for her.”
It’s not the first time Jennifer and Owen, 50, have starred alongside one another.
The pair appeared in the 1997 horror ‘Anaconda’ together, along with the likes of Ice Cube and Jon Voight.
Jennifer is also producing ‘Marry Me’ alongside Elaine Goldsmith Thomas and Benny Media.
The trio also worked on last year’s ‘Second Act’.
‘Marry Me’ is said to begin filming in the autumn.
Jennifer will also star in ‘Hustlers’, alongside a star-studded cast including Constance Wu, Cardi B, Lizzo, Lili Reinhart and Julia Stiles.
Meanwhile, Jennifer previously admitted she is “quite particular” about the roles she takes on.
She said: “I’m quite particular. I’ve been offered a couple of movies over the past couple of years but unless it’s the right thing and I get the right types of opportunities, I’d rather create them. That’s mine and [producing partner] Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas’ mantra. We don’t force things, but we don’t wait around either … If no one is giving us the stories that we want to tell, then we’ll create them ourselves.”

Andrew Lincoln joins Penguin Bloom cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Lincoln has joined the cast of ‘Penguin Bloom’.
The ‘Walking Dead’ actor has signed up to star alongside Naomi Watts in the upcoming adaptation of the best selling Australian novel written by author Bradley Trevor Greive.
‘Penguin Bloom’ follows the story of Sam Bloom, a mother of three living in Sydney, Australia. Following an accident, Sam becomes paralyzed from the chest down and struggles to maintain her family life whilst adjusting to her new condition. She must use the help of an unlikely source – a magpie named Penguin – to help her and her family cope.
Lincoln, 45, will portray Cameron Bloom, the photographer husband of Sam Bloom who documents the family’s relationship with Penguin through pictures.
Naomi, 50, is also set to produce the movie alongside Bruna Papandrea and Australian-based producer Emma Cooper.
The producers said in a statement: “We were all captivated by this heartwarming story of resilience, the power of family and hope. We’re thrilled to have the supremely talented Andrew Lincoln on board to bring the Bloom’s story to audiences around the world.”
‘Penguin Bloom’ will film in Australia in August, with Glendyn Ivin directing from a script by Shaun Grant and Harry Cripps.
Meanwhile, Cameron previously expressed a desire for Hugh Jackman to play him on-screen.
He said: “That would be pretty cool, we met him and his wife Deborra-Lee [Furness] through friends and he’s a great guy. It’s funny, I used to shoot a lot of weddings and be told that I look like Bradley Cooper. I’d tell Sam and she’d be like, ‘You’re a d**khead’. Whoever ends up doing it and whatever happens, who could have imagined this – that this bird and this story, of a normal family going through a really tough time, would end up here?”
And Cameron has spoken of his amazement that their story has made it to Hollywood.
He said: “There was never an end goal or anything like that with what I was doing – it was just an unusual situation and as a photographer and someone who loves animals, it was just beautiful to be up close and to have this bird become part of our family. I guess it became a bit of a project for me – it was a rare opportunity.
“[Penguin] brought a lot of happiness and fun.”

Jacob Roberts expects no forgiveness in Munchausen’s plot

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hollyoaks’ Jacob Roberts doesn’t think Damon Kinsella will “forgive” Maxine Minniver when her lies are exposed.
The 29-year-old actor’s alter ego is convinced his bride-to-be (Nikki Sanderson) has just six months to live because she’s been battling a mystery illness, but she’s actually been faking her condition as she has Munchausen’s Syndrome – where sufferers feign illness or deliberately produces symptoms in themselves – and he doesn’t think it’s going to end well for the couple.
Asked how Damon will react when he finds out the truth, he said: “I think he’d be so embarrassed, as he’s been treated like a mug. I don’t think it would be forgivable. If he did forgive her, he would be even more of a mug.
“I think he’d be so angry and he’d just have to have it out with her. She’s manipulated other people, but not to the extent of Damon.”
Meanwhile, Nikki has enjoyed the challenge of portraying the disorder.
She told DigitalSpy: “It’s been brilliant for me to be able to portray Munchausen’s, which is a disorder which hasn’t been approached before and not many people know much about it.”
The 35-year-old star thinks it would be “exhausting” to spend so much time living a lie.
She said: “It must be exhausting. I could not imagine every single day of my life living a lie and it getting bigger and bigger and more tangled. I don’t know how she’s done it.”
And if Maxine’s lies are exposed at the wedding next week, Nikki thinks her alter ego would be “horrified”.
She said: “She would be horrified. I think that she would be massively upset for herself because at the moment, she is full of her own self-importance. She would be like: ‘Why is this happening to me?’
“She’d mainly be upset because she’d recognise that all of these people sat at that wedding love and adore her. They’ve done everything for her and they love and support her. She would feel terrible about how she’s treated everybody and the fallout with that.”

Neighbours casts transgender star

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Neighbours’ is to get its first transgender character.
Activist Georgie Stone, 19, will appear on the Australian daytime soap for a two-month stint and she admitted she wishes she’d had someone like her new alter ego Mackenzie to watch when she was growing up.
Speaking to Australia’s Women’s Weekly magazine, Georgie said: “She’s absolutely the character I wish I had seen as a kid.
“I would have gone to this place of self-acceptance sooner if I had seen a happy, high-achieving trans character growing up.
“I didn’t know the word ‘trans’. I just knew that I was a girl.”
Georgie – who fully transitioned by age eight – was invited to audition for the soap within two hours of pitching the role to producers in an email and has worked closely with the writing team to make sure Mackenzie’s story is portrayed accurately.
She said: “I help them to ensure it’s truthful at the same time as dramatic by not shying away from the experiences trans people face – coming out, relationships, good allies who listen, internalised shame from bullying.”
The teenager’s mother, Rebekah, thinks her ‘Neighbours’ character will be a far more positive representation of trans people than what she encountered in her early research of the subject.
She recalled: “Trans people were described as marginalised, drug addicted, homeless. It told me Georgie was destined for a life of sex work, mental illness and premature death – either murdered or by her own hand.
“That’s why Georgie’s positive portrayal is so significant.”
