Gemma Oaten helping launch Tutus House homeless enterprise

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Oaten will help launch Tutus House with a ‘Sleep Out For The Homeless’ event.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress – who played Rachel Breckle on the ITV soap from 2011 until her exit in 2015 – has lent her support to the new social enterprise, which is aiming to “organise and fund commercially viable projects to help deal with the issues arising from homelessness and the emotional distress of disruption in an individual’s past”.
As part of the organisation’s launch, the Tutus House Leadership Team will be the sleep out event on March 19 at Villiers Street, London WC2.
Thanks to a collaboration with charitable and corporate partners, it’s hoped Tutus will be able to offer free medical services, haircuts, food and clothing to those who need it.
Co-founder James Reid said: “Homelessness shames our society. Britain is the fifth largest economy in the world and we seem unable to take care of our most vulnerable people.
“Tutus House is here to help address that issue. The Tutus House ambition is to be able to offer a place of safety to our homeless and those from disrupted backgrounds, to enable them to gain skills and, ultimately, take the necessary steps back into gainful employment.”
In a press release, Tutus House noted: “We aim to give our members practical help in rebuilding their lives. Our specific fund-raising goals are to provide temporary and permanent accommodation as well as commercially viable projects to train and, potentially, employ those who are currently homeless.”

Shirley Ballas climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for her brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for her brother.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge took part in Comic Relief’s climb of the mountain, as documented in ‘Kilimanjaro: The Bigger Red Nose Climb’, for her brother, who tragically took his own life over a decade ago.
Speaking to Paul, who has been directly helped by charity Calm – one of the charities partly funded by Comic Relief, she said: “He said he’d got into a dark hole he couldn’t get out of. I’d call him on the phone and tell him, ‘Come on David, you’re going to be fine,’ because I was uneducated so that’s why in some ways I blame myself … He left no note. No goodbye. I can only imagine 16 years ago if my brother had somewhere to go and someone to talk to. It’s a lonelier place without him, but I can only imagine the place he was in. I think my brother would be proud of me. I miss him so I’m doing this for him. If it means sleeping in a tent and being disorganised then so be it.”
Shirley had previously revealed she “heard” her late brother talking to her while she was struggling with altitude sickness on Kilimanjaro.
She said: “I was having panic attacks. My nose started to bleed. I was vomiting. And then my mind and senses lost control. You can’t control the emotions. I was crying over David, I was blaming myself. I was going back through all the years in my life, I was thinking I am not worthy. Every negative emotion I ever had in my life, whether it be the husbands who were not great to me, or David, or my father, were all coming on that mountain. And I can only put it down to the altitude. It plays tricks on your mind. One day when we were climbing really quite far up, because of the altitude I felt I could hear my brother talking to me. I was overwhelmed with how tired I was. You start to become disorientated. I felt I could hear my brother going, ‘Shirley’. It was really strange. But I had to remember I was doing this for David and anybody who’s got mental health issues.”

Antonio Banderas joins cast of The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard

OHMYGOSSIP — Antonio Banderas has joined the cast of ‘The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’.
The 58-year-old actor has signed on to star in the sequel to Patrick Hughes’ 2017 action-comedy ‘The HItman’s Bodyguard’, although it isn’t known what role he will play in the follow-up.
Hughes’ original film starred Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Salma Hayek and follows the world’s top protection agent, Michael Bryce (Reynolds) as he is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy – one of the world’s most notorious hitmen, Darius Kincaid (Jackson) – and his wife Sonia (Hayek).
It has been announced that Richard E Grant will reprise his role as Seifert from the original film, a drug-addicted corporate executive and client of Bryce.
Frank Grillo will also join the cast and is reportedly set to play an Interpol agent, who needs help preventing a cyber-attack in Europe, in the sequel.
The original movie achieved considerable box office success, earning around $177 million from a $30 million budget and becoming the most popular film in the US for three straight weeks.
Despite starring in ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ and being one of the most famous actors in the world, Reynolds previously admitted he doesn’t employ hired protection as he would feel “ashamed” if he did feel the need to have someone watching him because he is a “big guy”.
When the Hollywood actor and his co-star Jackson were asked if they have personal security guards, the ‘Deadpool’ star explained: “Look, we’re two pretty big guys. I would feel ashamed if I had a bodyguard. The only time I ever have security is when I go to Comic-Con because you need guys to help get you 100 feet.”

American Bond ‘Jett Day’ being developed by Warner Bros

OHMYGOSSIP — Warner Bros. are developing an “American James Bond” called ‘Jett Day’.
The studio is working on a new action adventure flick that it hopes will kick start an American super spy franchise rivaling the classic British character.
According to That Hashtag Show, the project has been created by ‘Ozark’ writer Bill DuBuque and will centre on a black ops agent working to keep a newly discovered diamond mine from falling into the wrong hands.
Warner executive Kevin McCormick is now said to be searching for a director and working with the studio to create a potential cast list.
The film will also feature a character called Uncle Brendan, who introduced Jett into the world of espionage and Warner reportedly wants a “Chris Hemsworth type” for Jett and a “Brad Pitt type” for Uncle Brendan.
The studio is hoping to begin production before the end of 2019.
Meanwhile, the latest instalment of the Bond franchise, ‘Bond 25’, is set to be released in April 8, 2020, after being pushed back from February 14 of that year and will see Daniel Craig give his fifth and final performance as the suave super spy.
Cary Joji Fukunaga will direct the highly anticipated hit while Rami Malek is in talks to play the film’s villain, with Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Lea Seydoux all set to return.
Lea, 33, portrayed Bond girl Dr. Madeleine Swann in 2015 movie ‘Spectre’, and she is to reprise her role after support from Craig and the director.
Fukunaga was named as the hotly-anticipated movie’s new director in September after Danny Boyle walked away from the project over “creative differences”.
Producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said at the time: “We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure.”

Jack Savoretti wants to pen Western musical soundtrack

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Savoretti hopes to pen a Spaghetti Western movie soundtrack.
The ‘Catapult’ singer has been inspired by the works of the 90-year-old Italian maestro, Ennio Morricone – who has composed over 400 scores for cinema and television – and hopes that he can turn one of his songs into a “romantic” score for a musical.
Jack – who is of Italian descent – told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve always had this fascination with soundtracks but recently I have become a little bit obsessed with Ennio Morricone who did the Spaghetti Western stuff.”
The ‘When We Were Lovers’ singer is a very visual writer and was immersed in the movie soundtrack world while working on his new album ‘Singing to Strangers’, which is released on Friday (15.03.19), and features Bob Dylan And Kylie Minogue.
He said: “Every time I make a record, I want to see a little movie playing to it in my head – so I always think about that. I would love the chance.
“With this particular album, we listened to a lot of old movie soundtracks and really tired to take that on board.”
The 35-year-old singer/songwriter feels that a lot of music used in movies is “lost” because it tries to hard to fit in with pop music.
He said: “I think the thing with soundtracks is that they’ve got a little bit lost with pop music, and music you hear a lot.
“I want it to be a little bit more romantic.”
Meanwhile, Jack recently admitted that he felt pressured finishing the song the ‘Desolation Row’ singer sent him, which became ‘Touchy Situation’, as he didn’t want to be known as the person who made the “first rubbish” Bob Dylan song.
Recalling a conversation with his wife Jemma Powell, after the icon sent him the unfinished lyrics for him to complete, he said: “It was very surreal and quite intimidating and terrifying.
“I was with my wife in the kitchen and she said: ‘Don’t f*** this up.’
“I was like: ‘Jesus, really?’
“And she said: ‘Yeah, not everyone gets Bob Dylan lyrics in their email, you better make this good.’
“And then I felt really pressured as, whatever I was doing to it, it sounded like a Dylan track, and I thought: ‘This is silly’ so I decided not to listen to anyone and make it my song.”
However, Jack – who has daughter Connie and son Winter with Jemma – says writing a song with the ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ hitmaker impressed his two children.
He said: “It’s such a nice thing to leave behind.
“I was thinking about my kids and however dorky I can be, they can say their dad wrote a song with Bob Dylan – that’s great dinner party chat.”

Unheard Michael Hutchence recordings set for Mystify doc

OHMYGOSSIP — Unheard recordings by the late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence will feature on the soundtrack for the forthcoming documentary ‘Mystify’.
The movie, which is named after the final single from the ‘Need You Tonight’ hitmakers’ 1987 album ‘Kick’, is set to premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival in April, and is based on the life and career of the group’s co-founder – who tragically took his own life in 1997.
The documentary is being released by Petrol Records and Universal Music Group and aims to bring the iconic band’s music to the next generation of rock fans.
A press release states that: “The Mystify soundtrack will showcase the musical talents of Michael’s song writing and velvet lyrics.
“It will weave recently discovered, and never-before heard, covers performed by Michael, with the much loved INXS classics that led the evolution of the music industry so many years ago.”
The feature length film has been written and directed by filmmaker Richard Lowenstein – who helmed the band’s early music videos – who promised to deliver a “definitive insight” into the life of “one of rock’s great frontmen”.
Christopher M. Murphy, Chairman and Founder of Petrol Records, and Creative Director and Global Strategist for INXS said: “INXS’ appeal wasn’t just confined to writing great songs or playing some of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. They always had their collective antennae up to the latest trends – whether they be music, fashion or technology – and that’s given their brand a fresh and lasting outlook.
“Their legacy is growing every day, and a new generation of fans from around the world are discovering INXS through streaming.
“We are entering an exciting period of rediscovery of their legacy and a reassessment of their place in music history.”
He added that the movie takes influence from recent musical movies such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which tells the story of Queen’s late great frontman Freddie Mercury, and ‘A Star Is Born’.
He added: “There will be many insights revealed about Michael’s life and his music, which will create interesting conversations.
“Movies like ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘A Star Is Born’ remind us of the extraordinary contributions that are made to popular culture when movies and music are creatively intertwined, and I am proud to say Mystify will be another great example.”
Giles Martin – the son of the late Beatles producer George Martin – was recruited by the band last year to be the creative director of all of their audio output, including musicals, movies and the reissue of their studio albums.
The rock group – which has had several lead singer’s following Michael’s death – officially broke up in 2012.
However, they teased plans to reunite two years later, when interviewed for ‘The Story Behind INXS’, which saw the band’s drummer Jon Farriss say “never say never” with regards to the group recording new music and performing live again.

Dani Dyer thought she was ‘going to die’ on Mount Kilimanjaro

OHMYGOSSIP — Dani Dyer thought she was “going to die” while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief.
The ‘Love Island’ winner attempted the trek with eight other celebrities and broke down in tears as she feared for her life during the venture.
On the BBC One special, ‘Kilimanjaro: The Bigger Red Nose Climb’, which was aired on Wednesday (13.03.19), she said: “Oh my god I’m petrified. I’ve never even climbed a climbing frame. Never. I’m scared of slides, I’m scared of everything … I’m really scared though. I’m just freaking out. I can’t get up there. I can’t do it. I’m just so scared. It was at a certain point on the rock when I honestly thought I’m gonna die. It’s a life or death experience.”
However, the reality star – who stole the nations hearts when she triumphed on the dating show with Jack Fincham – also confessed her mother would be mad at her if she didn’t complete the climb.
She said: “My mum will go mad at me if I don’t reach the top.”
The television star – who is the daughter of ‘EastEnders’ actor Danny Dyer – had previously confessed she “couldn’t believe” she was getting the opportunity to scale the mountain.
She said before the climb: “I can’t believe I’m really climbing Kilimanjaro! Comic Relief means so much to me and my family, and the money they raise does so much good, so I’m thrilled to be involved. It doesn’t feel real yet, but I’m excited to put my backpack on and get going.”

Gloria Hunniford slams ‘Killing Eve’ creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge

OHMYGOSSIP — Gloria Hunniford has slammed ‘Killing Eve’ creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge for calling her violent character “empowering”.
The 78-year-old television presenter has fumed at the actress and writer for saying that seeing women being violent on the show was “oddly empowering”.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper: “When you have seen real violence in the streets like I did in Ireland this is not TV, this is not drama, this is real life. I saw bad things. I once saw a man die before my eyes. It doesn’t empower women at all. Violence is violence. I was a news reporter and saw the real thing. This is not showbusiness. This is life. I wouldn’t watch sex or violence.”
Phoebe had previously said of the show – which stars Jodie Comer as a female assassin and Sandra Oh as a security operative – that it was good to see women being violent on television rather than the other way around.
She shared: “We’re being allowed to see women on slabs the whole time and being beaten up, and in some ways that’s important to see because it shows the brutality against women. Seeing women being violent, the flipside of that is refreshing and oddly empowering.”
Meanwhile, Jodie previously admitted portraying Villanelle has allowed her to show off her “versatility” as an actress.
Speaking about the “overwhelming” reaction to the first series, she said: “What I love about Villanelle is that she is many characters within one, and she has enabled me to hopefully show some versatility that people may not have expected from me. There has been such an overwhelming response to ‘Killing Eve’ that when I meet people, they are enthusiastic about talking about it and they enjoy it so much. It’s been wonderful to have all sorts of conversations. Going to the set is so fulfilling because not every day is the same. There is always something thrown my way to challenge me. So I think I have really been able to grow and learn more about myself.”

Kevin Clifton will always respect ex Karen

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Clifton will “always love” his ex-wife Karen.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional insists he will always have “respect” for his former spouse and they have remained “good friends”.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he said: “We’re really good friends, I think because we’ve still been dancing together. You’re always going to have love for each other and have respect.”
Karen previously revealed she is “so proud” of ex Kevin after he won ‘Strictly’ with his dancing partner Stacey Dooley.
Karen wrote on Instagram at the time: “Our 2018 @bbcstrictly champions! @keviclifton & @sjdooley … So proud and extremely happy for you guys. Kev – 5x finalist and you finally did it!! Your hard work, patience and pure brilliance paid off. So proud of you x (sic)”
Karen had previously admitted ‘Strictly’ damaged her marriage.
She said: “I found the split very hard to deal with and I panicked. We weren’t perfect but we were a normal couple who began to have rocky moments and we didn’t know how to handle it. ‘Strictly’ was the glue that was keeping us together but it was also the workload that was leaving us with no time to communicate. To some, it’s like ‘Oh, you’re both on television and living a glamorous life’ but it wasn’t at all like that.
We were working from 6am until 11pm and by the time we got home there would be no time to do anything. There was no opportunity for us to connect and we started going in completely different directions. We communicated well professionally, but that didn’t translate into our relationship.”

Dominic Brunt: Happier times ahead for Paddy and Chas

OHMYGOSSIP — Dominic Brunt has promised happier times for Paddy Kirk and Chas Dingle.
The ‘Emmerdale’ star has reassured viewers that things will get better for his alter ego and Lucy Pargeter’s character after she told him she is expecting their child in very emotional scenes after a year dealing with the death of baby Grace.
Asked if this year will be happier than the last for Chas and Paddy, Dominic told Metro.co.uk: “Yep! It was exhausting, that storyline [about Grace].
“But then Christmas arrived and it gave us a break. It was such a treat and that’s why you do it.”
Although Chas told her partner that the chances of becoming parents could be slim, she also added she didn’t want to spent the whole pregnancy worrying.
While it seems there is some joy on the horizon for the couple, it comes after some very difficult times on set.
Dominic admitted that filming scenes surrounding their on-screen baby’s death left them in tears on and off camera.
He added: “We were talking the other day, saying like we’d do the scenes and then they’d have to move and set up the cameras, and there was a little ante room where we kept just bursting out into tears.
“It was so upsetting, babies, oh god it was just something to be involved.”
Although Dominic is certainly settled into life on the Dales, he previously admitted that he gets “petrified” before filming despite playing vet Paddy for over two decades.
He said: “I am loyal to the show and it still frightens the life out of me. I still shake before every scene because it’s petrifying.
“You put eight million people on a hillside watching each episode, that’s quite sobering.”

Hollyoaks: Maalik family will respond in different ways to far-right extremism

OHMYGOSSIP — The Maalik family will “respond in different ways” during the ‘Hollyoaks’ far-right extremism storyline.
At the end of Wednesday’s (13.03.19) first-look episode on E4, Jonny Baxter (Ray Quinn), Stuart Sumner (Chris Simmons) and another associate stared out Sami Maalik (Rishi Nair) in uncomfortable scenes as the soap’s radicalisation storyline intensifies.
Scriptwriter Jayshree Patel told Digital Spy: “Individual members of the family respond in different ways, so you’ll see a range of different things where each of the Maaliks are offering a different response.
“I think that reflects reality. When I was a kid and my dad used to face racism, he’d just smile and walk away. He’d come home and he’d say: ‘Well, I didn’t say anything because I feel more sorry for them than I do for myself’.
“Whereas my mum would give them an absolute mouthful back. So people do respond in different sorts of ways. That was one of the things that we were really keen on representing.”
Meanwhile, the show will also took to show different views within the Muslim community, and last night the episode saw the Maaliks gather for a meal and then row when Sami challenged his family for how traditional it was.
Opening up about how Muslims are presented on TV, Jayshree added: “There are actually very, very different interpretations of what it means. There are differences in terms of the bits that people take from the religion and which bits they reject.
“So on the one hand, you’ve got some young people who won’t touch alcohol at all, but they will do other things that they’re not supposed to do. On the other hand, you’ve got people who do the bits that fit in with them.
“Sami is somebody who feels like he needs to be identified as a British person before he’s identified as anything else.”

Kylie and Kendall Jenner to collaborate on beauty product

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner has hinted that she could soon be collaborating with her sister Kendall.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star has teased the prospect of working on a beauty collaboration with her sibling but they couldn’t before because Kendall was in a longtime contract with make up brand Estée Lauder.
When someone asked Kylie if she could collaborate with her sister during an Instagram live question and answer session, she simply held her finger up to her mouth and said, “Shh”, prompting speculation one is in the works.
She added: “You know Kendall was in a contract for a really long time so I couldn’t do a collaboration with her. That’s the only reason why I didn’t collaborate with her. But, you know, we worked it out.”
Kylie’s cosmetics brand has gone from strength to strength and is loved by her fans, friends and family alike.
Her half-sister Khloe previously confessed she keeps five Kylie Cosmetics lip-glosses in her make-up bag at any one time, adding: “I have five [Kylie Cosmetics] colours in my make-up bag. The ‘Koko K’ shade is named after me – that was a surprise. It’s a pinky nude, which is what I wear every day.”
Kim Kardashian West’s make up artist Mario Dedivanovic is also a fan of the brand and he “hoards” as many as he can,
He said: “I’m the biggest hoarder of Kylie Cosmetics. I literally have boxes and boxes at my house that I’m collecting.
“They’re just so iconic I want to keep them forever. Her black gel eyeliner is so good and is in my kit a lot.”

Kim Kardashian West wants death penalty end

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West has called for an end to the death penalty.
The 38-year-old reality star has praised California Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive action to move to halt the use of capital punishment in the state and appealed for “better solutions” that put “fairness and justice” first.
She wrote on Twitter: “For the last year, I have immersed myself in learning about the criminal justice system.
“I visited prisons, met with formerly incarcerated people, and helped with cases of individual injustice – including two death penalty cases.
“I have met with and am very supportive of Governor Newsom and his decision to help bring an end to the California Death Penalty. Racial bias and unfairness run deep throughout the justice system but especially when it comes to the death penalty.
“And we should not be okay with the risk that an innocent person could be executed. I hope we can turn toward better solutions that focus more on healing victims of trauma and prioritizing fairness and justice.”
Kim – who has children North, five, Saint, three, and 14-month-old Chicago with husband Kanye West and is expecting another via a surrogate – previously visited US President Donald Trump and helped 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson get released on Clemency after she was sentenced to life without parole for a first time non-violent drug offence.
And earlier this month, the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star agreed to pay five years of rent for Matthew Charles after he was denied housing upon release from prison, where he had been serving 20 years for a non-violent drug offence.
Matthew said: “I just received the most wonderful news tonight that I just had to share with everyone. Kim Kardashian-West heard about my situation. Was moved and has decided to help me.”

Ben Affleck loves tattoo

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck doesn’t care that people hate his giant back tattoo.
The ‘Triple Frontier’ actor caused a stir two years ago when he revealed the colourful inking of a phoenix when he went shirtless on a beach, but despite the criticism he received for the inking, he still “loves” it because it is so personal to him.
After admitting it had received “not so much positive” attention, he said: “It’s meaningful to me, I like it. It’s something I kept private I wasn’t doing photoshoots, we were two hours north of the city and didn’t know paparazzi were there. sentiment ran against but I love my tattoo, I’m happy with it.”
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres couldn’t resist poking fun at the tattoo either, as when she first asked her guest about the design and he said it was a phoenix, she quickly quipped: “Rising from your ass”.
The 46-year-old actor laughed: “We didn’t plan that, you’re very quick. It’s a phoenix rising from my ass and I was about to say it represents something really important to me but we can skip that.”
Ben – who has children Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, seven, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner spent a period in rehab last year to fight his alcoholism but he is “grateful” for the struggles in his life as he is now in such a “great place”.
Asked how he has been in the two years since he last appeared on Ellen’s show, he said: “There’s temptation to say I get depressed and this was hard and that was hard, or I could be embarrassed but I feel so good now, I’m in a great place, kids are healthy, life is good, so whatever it took for me to get to this place, I’m grateful.”
While the ‘Argo’ filmmaker and the ‘Camping’ actress both agree their kids are all fine to watch Ellen’s daytime talk show, he admitted he is usually the more “liberal” parent.
He said: “You have split families and go back and forth on the rules, I’m a bit more liberal on the screen side of things, the games and TV.”

Luke Perry buried at secret site

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Perry has been buried at a secret site.
The ‘Riverdale’ actor passed away earlier this month, days after suffering a stroke, and though his death certificate lists a Tennessee funeral home as his final resting place, sources told The Blast that is not the case but his family are keen to keep the specific location private.
Don Carter, who owns Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, told the website he has no idea why his business is listed on the certificate, though he would have “loved” to have taken care of the burial.
The funeral home operates the Dickson County Memorial Gardens cemetery but Don insisted he is not buried there, while the Cemetery Office for the City of Dickson confirmed Luke’s remains also haven’t been interred at the city’s other cemetery, Dickson Union Cemetery.
And that’s not all as two other funeral homes in Dickson, Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center and Spann Funeral Home, also said they did not handle the former ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ star’s burial service, while no permits for a home burial have been issued for Luke’s farm in the area.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed the actor’s children, 18-year-old Sophie and 21-year-old Jack – who he had with ex-wife Rachel Sharp – are planning to keep his Tennessee farm, on which he raised cattle, so they can continue to spend time there in the future.
Luke’s death certificate was released on Wednesday (13.03.19), in which his passing was
ruled as an “ischemic cerebrovascular accident”, which is commonly known as a stroke.
Luke’s fiancé Wendy Bauer was listed as his next of kin on the papers, and comes after she spoke out for the first time earlier this week when she said the “outpouring of love and support” since the actor’s death has been “a great source of solace”.
She said: “I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support. The countless, heartwarming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time.”

Beyonce won’t hand over private correspondence in legal dispute

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyoncé has refused to hand over her private communications with her mother and husband to a wedding planner.
The ‘Formation’ hitmaker is locked in a trademark battle with Veronica Morales over the use of the name ‘Blue Ivy’ and the businesswoman has requested a list of documents and communications from the 37-year-old singer to show any evidence she planned to use the trademark – which is the name of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s oldest daughter – and any samples of her intent to use the name.
Veronica also wants to see all communications between Beyonce and the ’99 Problems’ hitmaker – who, as well as seven-year-old Blue Ivy, also have 21-month-old twins Rumi and Sir together – in connection with their 2016 trademark application, any communications of either of them knowing about ‘Blue Ivy’ before their daughter was born, and any records of conversations between the ‘Crazy in Love’ singer and her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, about the trademark.
Beyonce has refused to hand over the documents and is seeking a protective order, which would prohibit the wedding planner or her legal team from leaking the confidential information.
In 2017, Beyonce made a bid to trademark ‘Blue Ivy Carter’ to make sure she had exclusive use of her daughter’s name, but Veronica filed back to oppose the application as her company, Blue Ivy, had been around for three years before the youngster was born.
The ‘Halo’ hitmaker previously claimed Veronica had tried to sell her the rights to the name for $10 million.
Court documents explained that, shortly after the woman had opposed the former Destiny’s Child star’s trademark filing, a meeting was set up between the two parties to try and reach a settlement.
They claimed the meeting became a “business proposal”, with Veronica’s’ lawyer giving a “long speech”, about the situation being an “opportunity for a business relationship rather than an adversarial proceeding.”
Veronica is said to have put together a Power Point presentation stating why Beyonce should buy her wedding planning business, along with the Blue Ivy trademark, and together they could “begin producing products and goods”.
