Jack Whitehall and Paris Hilton spark friendship

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Whitehall has sparked a friendship with Paris Hilton after she commented on several of his social media posts.
The 30-year-old comedian is said to have landed a prestigious invite to the 38-year-old US socialite’s birthday party at her Beverly Hills mansion last weekend, after she posted eye-heart and fire emojis on a number of his Instagram posts.
A source said: “Paris and Jack have been getting to know each other in the past few weeks and have had a laugh together.
“He went to her birthday party at the weekend and posted a video of him splashing around in her pool.
“Fans have already picked up on the fact Paris has been leaving heart-eye and fire emojis on his Instagram posts, proving she is interested.”
In return, the ‘Bad Education’ star has ‘liked’ a number of Paris’ pictures on the social media site.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: “It is an unlikely friendship, but he has been ‘liking’ her snaps too.”
Jack is first thought to have caught Paris’ attention when he hosted the BRIT Awards last month.
Their friendship comes months after Jack was said to have been spotted kissing Kate Beckinsale at a Los Angeles karaoke bar in November.
A source said at the time: “No one would expect someone like Jack to bag one of Hollywood’s hottest actresses. You couldn’t get a more unlikely romance.
“They were like a pair of loved-up teenagers and weren’t trying to hide their feelings.
“They were practically sitting on top of each other in the booth of the nightclub and were laughing with each other.
“Then he decided to put his hand around the back of Kate’s neck and pulled her across him, where they started to passionately kiss.
“Kate then half-laid across him as they whispered to each other. Then they decided to make a quick exit.”
He previously dated ‘Captain Marvel’ star Gemma Chan for six years but they went their separate ways in 2017.
Paris broke off her engagement to actor Chris Zylka in November and admitted earlier this month she “doesn’t have time” for love at the moment.
She said: “I don’t have time for love right now. I hardly have time for myself.
“I am constantly travelling over 250 days a year, never home hardly, just focusing on myself, my business and my friends.”

Lee Daniels reflects on Empire stars’ ‘pain and anger’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lee Daniels has admitted the cast and crew of ‘Empire’ have been through “pain and anger and sadness and frustration” due to the Jussie Smollett scandal.
The 36-year-old actor was dropped from the final two episodes of the fifth season of the musical drama after he was accused of orchestrating a racist and homophobic attack on himself – allegations which he has denied – and the showrunner admitted all involved with the programme “don’t know how” to cope with the “rollercoaster” they are currently on.
In a candid video he shared on Instagram, Lee said: “Oh my God, these past couple of weeks have been a freakin’ roller coaster.
“We – me and my cast – have experienced pain and anger and sadness and frustration and really don’t know how to deal with it, you know?”
The 59-year-old producer admitted he wanted the show to “bring America together”, rather than for the scandal to be detracting attention away.
Stressing the episode which aired on Wednesday (20.03.19) had been filmed “prior to the incident”, he said: “This is not what the show was made for, the show was made to bring America together, to talk about the atrocities that are happening right now on the streets.”
In his caption for the video, Lee admitted he was sharing thoughts he had meant to post before the episode aired.
He wrote: “I was so in my feelings last week that I forgot to post about @empirefox & @staronfox …. I guess y’all know why … anyway I’m back and I’m finally ok!!!! (sic)”
‘Empire’ executive producer Brett Mahoney recently insisted it is “too early” to make a decision on whether Jussie will keep his job on the show as he and other executives working on the show wants to see how his legal case develops first.
He said: “It’s a matter of trusting the process and allowing the legal process to play out and see where it goes from there. And it’s too early to think about what we would have to do if we didn’t have Jussie.
“We have such a strong ensemble and we have so many stories to tell for all of these fascinating characters that it’s bigger than one character, but it’s too early to think about the show without him.”

Olly Murs won’t find famous girlfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs wouldn’t date a celebrity because it would cause him “anxiety”.
The ‘Troublemaker’ hitmaker – who previously dated model-and-presenter Melanie Sykes – is too “private” to cope with the attention of a high profile relationship, though he is keen to settle down with the right person, who he wants to make him feel “alive”.
He said: “Listen, the day I put a ring on someone I want it to be for the right reasons and the right person.
“Not only do I bring out the best in them, but that person brings out the best in me. I want someone who makes me feel alive when I’m around them.
“I know that’s not going to last forever, but I want to be in a relationship where I feel it’s the right one, and that takes time sometimes.
“Hats off to anyone who can date someone in the public eye.
“I’d feel uncomfortable because I’m a private person, I don’t know if I’d cope with it.
“Dating someone in the celeb world gives me anxiety.”
The 34-year-old singer – who hasn’t been in a serious relationship since splitting from Francesca Thomas in 2015 – admitted he would “love” to be a parent one day but insisted he doesn’t feel any “pressure” to get married and start a family any time soon.
He added to The Sun Online: “A few people who are married have said to me recently, ‘Olly don’t get married, stay single until the last minute.
“But of course I’d love to get married and have kids. I think I’d be a great dad.
“I love being around my nephews all the time, they are the best thing ever.
“To be a dad someday… I’d really enjoy it. A boy and a girl would be great – but just being in a relationship would be great at some point too.
“We’ll see what happens. There’s no pressure for me though.”

Donna Air joins The Split cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Donna Air will make her TV comeback in ‘The Split’.
The former ‘Byker Grove’ actress has signed up to star in the second series of the BBC One drama alongside fellow newcomer Ben Bailey Smith, and the pair will play celebrity power couple Fi and Richie Hansen who are involved in a messy, public divorce.
Series one stars Nicola Walker, Stephen Mangan, Deborah Findlay, Fiona Button, Annabel Scholey, Rudi Dharmalingam and Barry Atsma will also return for a second season.
Production has already begun on the run, which is helmed by Abi Morgan, who created and wrote the series.
She said: “Sitting on set on the first day of filming I am always reminded what a joy and privilege it is to do what we do – tell stories.
“Returning for the second series of ‘The Split’, the world of high-end law and the stories of love, marriage and divorce in the metropolis ricochet through the lives of Hannah and her sisters.
“Relationships are challenged, friendships are tested and the lines between work and home blue. It’s great to be back.”
The show focuses on the Defoe sisters, Hannah (Nicola), Nina (Annabel) and Rose (Fiona) and their formidable mother Ruth (Deborah), who are all London-based lawyers.
And while they were rivals in season one, they will be together at newly merged law firm Noble Hale Defoe in the new series.
Executive producer Jane Featherstone said: “I love these characters so much and can’t wait to spend time with them again as we watch them struggle through life’s complicated relationships.”
Donna has also starred in soap ‘Hollyoaks’, TV drama ‘Hotel Babylon’, and films ‘The Mummy Returns’ and ‘The Counsellor’.

Ricky Gervais confirms more After Life

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais has confirmed ‘After Life’ will return for a second series.
The 57-year-old comic has thanked fans for their kind messages of appreciation for his new Netflix series and revealed the support has helped spur him on to pen some new episodes.
He tweeted: “Once again, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your amazing tweets about #AfterLife. I’ve never had a reaction like it. I have a spring in my step as I skip towards writing series 2.(sic)”
The confirmation came after Ricky – who plays Tony, a suicidal man who responds to the loss of his wife of 25 years by opting to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he wants with no inhibitions – admitted ahead of the show’s Netflix debut that he had ideas in mind for another series.
However, if the programme hadn’t been a hit, he felt the first run of episodes concluded at a satisfying point.
Asked if he would like to make a second series, he said: “I’d love to. Just in case, I always do my first series of anything that it could be a standalone thing.
“But I’ve really fallen in love with the characters and I think it’d be a waste not to do a second series now.
“And the second series could be the best, because you can hit the ground running. You’ve done all the set up.
“You know that people you know the characters now, so you can delve deeper into things without having to do the admin of explaining stuff. So the second series can be the most joyful to write and watch.”
Quizzed on whether he had some possible storylines for a second run, he added: “There are ideas, yeah, there are. You can’t help those, but you’ve got to curb them in case.
“If no-one likes it and Netflix say, ‘We’ve wasted millions on you, Rick,’ but, secretly, yeah, I would love to do a second series.”

J Balvin to headline Lollapalooza

OHMYGOSSIP — J. Balvin will be the first Latin music artist to headline Lollapalooza.
The ‘No Es Justo’ singer will make history when he tops the bill at the famous festival in Chicago, which takes place from August 1-4.
The event typically has two headline artists performing simultaneously on each night of the festival, on the two main stages situated at either end of Grant Park, and joining Balvin in closing out each night of Lollapalooza will be Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Flume, and The Chainsmokers.
The ‘Mi Gente’ hitmaker wrote on Instagram: “SIEMPRE ELEVANDO NUNCA INELEVANDO @lollapalooza. LATINO GANG Chicago, we’re coming to see you this summer at #Lolla! Head to @Lollapalooza’s profile and grab your tickets today. (sic)”
Also performing at this year’s festival will be the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Lil Wayne, Janelle Monae, Meek Mill, Shaquille O’Neal – in his DJ guise Diesel – Hozier, Tenacious D, Death Cab for Cutie, and Bring Me the Horizon.
Event organisers will announce which artists will perform on which days closer to the time.
Meanwhile, Balvin – who has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Cardi B, and Justin Bieber in the past – previously admitted he’s only interested in teaming up with artists he “loves and respects”.
He said: “I just work with people that I love and respect, that inspire me to be a better person, a better artist. I think it was a really beautiful cultural move. People see me with the queen, like, if she’s working with him it’s because he’s for real. She’s not the type of girl that works with everybody. All the other collaborations are helping me a lot to keep spreading the vibe that I want.”

Bhavna Limbachia decided to kill off her Corrie character

OHMYGOSSIP — Bhavna Limbachia decided her ‘Coronation Street’ character Rana Habeeb should be killed off.
The 34-year-old actress bowed out of the ITV soap last night (20.03.19) when her alter-ego tragically died after the Underworld factory roof collapsed on top of her on her wedding day, leaving her significant other Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) distraught.
But Bhavna admits she thought the only way the couple – who held their own impromptu wedding ceremony together as she lay dying on the debris-ridden factory floor – could be separated was for Rana to be killed.
She said: “When I told Kate Oates and Iain McLeod that I wanted to leave the show to try other things, it was my decision and my choice for Rana to die because it was the only fitting end to the character.
“Kate and Rana had fought so hard to be together and they had been through thick and thin together.
“I believe their love was so pure as two souls that there was no way that Rana was just going to have a change of heart, hop in a cab and leave.
“I felt that if they were to be separated, they had to be torn apart and it couldn’t have been their decision. The only way to go was if Rana were to die. Rana would never leave Kate, ever.”
Despite the hard-hitting scenes, some of which took up to 10 hours to film, Bhavna tried to remain in character when she got home after filming.
She said: “It was difficult because I never tried to snap out of character when I got home.
“It was finding a balance of being able to detach yourself emotionally from the scenes but almost stay in that frame of mind to go back the next day and film.”
Kate and Rana’s relationship captured the hearts of the nation and was dubbed ‘Kana’ by ‘Corrie’ super-fans – and Bhavna admits learning about the LGBTQ+ community during the plot has “changed” her as a person.
She said: “I am proud to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community.
“It wasn’t something that I knew enough about so when I was approached with this storyline, I felt it was important to educate myself about the LGBTQ+ community and that has changed me as a person.”

Announcing the news, GLAAD praised Andy for the fact he “consistently speaks out on LGBTQ issues on the show including marriage equality, anti-transgender legislation, and hate violence against LGBTQ people”.

Rebel Wilson’s hallucinations inspired acting career

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebel Wilson was inspired to become an actress after a “near-death” experience with malaria.
The ‘Isn’t It Romantic’ star started “hallucinating” on the medication she was given when she was hospitalised with the potentially life-threatening disease at the age of 19 whilst in Mozambique.
The 39-year-old actress’ whole life changed after the visions she had of herself as an actress giving an acceptance speech for an award whilst in the hospital.
Appearing on the ‘Aussies In Hollywood’ podcast, Rebel recalled: “They tried to give me pills, but I heard they can cause mental problems, so I ended up being the stupid person who got [malaria].
“I’m just lying there in hospital, can’t really hear, can’t really watch TV and I was just hallucinating on the drugs that I was an actress.
“I was giving an acceptance speech … an acceptance rap, which seems so dorky now.
“When people have kind of near-death experiences, people can experience certain things that really change the course of their life.”
Four years later, the ‘How to Be Single’ star graduated from the Australian Theatre for Young People, and landed her first role as Toula on the US comedy series ‘Pizza’ and then the sketch comedy ‘The Wedge’.
Rebel now has several awards to her name, including the 2013 Best Breakthrough Performance MTV Movie Award for her role as Fat Amy in ‘Pitch Perfect’.
Meanwhile, the ‘Bridesmaids’ star recently revealed she was rushed to hospital after suffering a concussion on the set of ‘Isn’t It Romantic’.
The Australian comedienne – who stars alongside the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Liam Hemsworth and Adam DeVine in the Netflix fantasy movie – suffered a serious health scare after she fell over on set.
She recalled: “I was walking to meet Adam and Liam for a rehearsal when we were shooting an outdoor Hamptons scene, and I slipped down a grass hill.
“I got a concussion and was rushed to the hospital for three hours, and then came back and filmed a 16-hour day. I thought, how ironic, not from doing one of the crazy stunts, but from the grass having a bit of dew on it.”
She added: “Two of my toenails came off because of the flats I was wearing.”

Amy Schumer wanted to lose stigma of autism

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Schumer opened up about her husband’s Asperger’s Syndrome diagnosis to get rid of the “stigma”.
In her Netflix special ‘Growing’, the 37-year-old comedian revealed her man Chris Fischer – who she married in February 2018 following a whirlwind three-month romance – has the form of autism, which is a developmental disorder autism and can cause difficulties with communication and social interaction.
Explaining her decision to talk about it, she told ‘Late Night’ host Seth Meyers: “We both wanted to talk about it because it’s been totally positive.
“I think some people resist getting diagnosed… because of the stigma that comes along with it. But the tools we’ve been given have made his life so much better and our marriage and our life so much more manageable.”
Amy added that it’s important for people to talk about it and try to get the “tools” that can help improve their quality of life.
She said: “I just wanted to encourage people to not be afraid of that stigma. I think a lot of people with autism who go undiagnosed when I think their life could be better if they got those tools.”
Meanwhile, the star – who is expecting her first child with Chris – admitted her pregnancy has been “pretty tough”, having suffered with extreme nausea, exhaustion and dehydration due to hyperemesis.
She added: “I didn’t know pregnancies could be such a bummer. I threw up a bunch of times on the way here.”
Opening up about her husband in her comedy special, Amy admitted she realised early on that the chef’s brain “was a little different” to hers.
She told a crowd in Chicago: “I knew from the beginning that my husband’s brain was a little different than mine. I have to start this over because I really want to get this right because I love him very much.
“My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger’s. He has autism spectrum disorder. He’s on the spectrum. And there were some signs early on.”

Lorraine Kelly avoids £1.2m tax bill

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly has avoided a £1.2 million tax bill after a judge ruled she “presents a persona of herself” on screen.
The 59-year-old TV presenter – who fronts ITV show ‘Lorraine’ – won the case after a judge said she was a “self-employed star” rather than employed by the broadcaster.
In 2016, Lorraine received the income tax and national insurance bill from the tax office relating to a contract she signed with ITV in 2012.
While HMRC claimed she was an ITV employee, she argued she was a freelancer and appealed against the bill of almost £900,000 in income tax, and a more than £300,000 in national insurance contributions.
Judge Jennifer Dean concluded that the relationship between Lorraine and the broadcaster “was a contract for services and not that of employer and employee”, and the tribunal noted she doesn’t receive staff benefits like holiday or sick pay, while she has the freedom to take on other work.
The judge ruled that she can be classed as a “theatrical artist”, meaning payments to an agent can be counted as a tax-deductible expense.
She added: “We did not accept that Ms Kelly simply appeared as herself – we were satisfied that Ms Kelly presents a persona of herself, she presents herself as a brand and that is the brand ITV sought when engaging her.
“All parts of the show are a performance, the act being to perform the role of a friendly, chatty and fun personality.
“Quite simply put, the programmes are entertaining, Ms Kelly is entertaining and the ‘DNA’ referred to is the personality, performance, the ‘Lorraine Kelly’ brand that is brought to the programmes.”
Judge Dean also concluded that there is a difference between the real Lorraine, and the public persona presented on TV.
She said: “We should make clear we do not doubt that Ms Kelly is an entertaining lady but the point is that for the time Ms Kelly is contracted to perform live on air she is public ‘Lorraine Kelly’.
“She may not like the guest she interviews, she may not like the food she eats, she may not like the film she viewed but that is where the performance lies.”

Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson join Christopher Nolan film

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next movie.
The motion picture has been slated for July 17, 2020, a date Warner Bros. has been known to reserve for the director, after he completed the script on the upcoming as-yet untitled film, according to Variety.
An insider recently told how the mysterious motion picture is expected to be a huge blockbuster which will be shown in Imax.
But Warner Bros. are yet to confirm specific details about casting and plot details.
Debicki and Pattinson are expected to star alongside John David Washington, with Nolan due to produce alongside Emma Thomas.
Production on the hotly-anticipated movie is expected to begin later this year.
A July 17th release date could be a good omen for Nolan after he tasted big box office success with war movie ‘Dunkirk’, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director and raked in $526 million worldwide.
Washington rose to fame in Spike Lee’s biographical drama ‘BlacKkKlansman’, in which he starred as Ron Stallworth, who was the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department.
And the 34-year-old actor – whose father is Hollywood icon Denzel Washington – has heaped praise on Lee.
Asked what Lee has meant to him through his own life, he explained: “He’s given men and women of colour a platform.
“We’re not just in this industry. Both in front and behind the cameras. So many people – DPs, writers, and the assistants that go on to be directors and writers – come from the School of Spike Lee. He’s almost set up an Institution of Spike Lee. We’re all like his children. He’s just so encouraging about that and he’s so supportive.
“So, I just feel like I’m a part of this huge family, and a part of history. I’m connected to a Wesley Snipes and I’m connected to Giancarlo Esposito because of the history of films that we’ve all been a part of with Spike Lee.”

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to shoot new Star Wars movie this year

OHMYGOSSIP — David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will shoot their first ‘Star Wars’ movie later this year.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners have been hired to work on a standalone trilogy for the sci-fi saga, and they are reportedly planning to start work on the first installment this autumn.
A source, who has worked on every Disney ‘Star Wars’ movie, told website Star Wars News: “Filming starts in the Fall and art departments are in design phases now as the script is being finalised. That is all I know but I am 95% confident that this is accurate.”
According to the insider, the movie will be set “hundreds of years” before the original series, and the trilogy has been given priority by Disney, because they want to appeal to the HBO fantasy drama series’ audience now ‘Game of Thrones’ is coming to an end.
The source added: “[I was] approached about working on the next movie this autumn. It is not the Rian Johnson trilogy, it is the ‘Game of Thrones’ guys’ first movie, and it is set during the Old Republic, as Disney wants to open up the ‘Star Wars’ timeline and appeal to a more ‘Game of Thrones’ style audience.
“So the timeline is hundreds of years prior to the Skywalkers, so think almost ‘Star Wars’ meets ‘Lord of the Rings’.”
Benioff and Weiss previously admitted they couldn’t wait to get started on the movies once ‘Game of Thrones’ was complete.
They said: “In the summer of 1977 we travelled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ is complete.”

The pair will drop a new album ‘Blue Sky In Your Head’ on May 3rd.
Tunde said: “People need a bit of hope.
“A little bit of light at the end of the tunnel, to reassure you that it will still turn out OK, even if it doesn’t seem like it.”
The singer admitted ‘My Salvation’ is about the “state of the way things are at the moment”.
He is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “There seems to be one bad thing after another. Everybody’s finding their own safe haven.”
The group’s last single was 2003 track ‘I Could Have Loved You’ from their 2002 ‘Greatest Hits’ album, but the song failed to chart.
Afterwards, the pair went their separate ways but have reunited to tour.
They had previously achieved some success with singles ‘High’ and ‘Lifted’, which both reached highs of number four in the UK charts, as well as their debut album ‘Ocean Drive’, which charted at number three and went platinum six times.

David Easter vows to ditch lasagne after Hollyoaks death

OHMYGOSSIP — David Easter has vowed to never eat lasagne again after his ‘Hollyoaks’ character ate a poisoned pasta dish and died.
The 59-year-old star’s alter-ego, soap super-villain Mac Nightingale, finally met his maker in last night’s (20.03.19) E4 episode when serial killer Breda McQueen – who is on a mission to rid the village of all the bad dads – made him her latest victim after spiking his lasagne and then bashing him over the head with the dish to finish him off.
As a result, David has been put off the meal for life.
He wrote on Twitter: “I will Never eat Lasagne Again!! (sic)”
After whacking him over the head following a struggle on the stairs, menacing Breda – played by Moya Brady – said: “This is how it ends. This is how you die, pathetic and alone.”
She later told him: “I’ve known some bad dads in my time but you were the worst.”
It comes after Mac had convinced Breda to kill his son James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), in exchange for him keeping quiet about her murderous ways.
And while she poisoned him and told Mac she had done the deed, James is still alive.
Moya recently described her serial killer alter-ego as “adorable”.
She said: “Well, there’s no one like Breda is there? She’s a completely unique character … An elderly woman of advancing years who’s on a moral crusade, and she’s adorable.”
Gregory admitted he would miss his on-screen family if his alter-ego meets his maker at some point.
When asked what he would miss, he replied: “My much depleted Nightingale family.
“We’ve had such a lot of fun over the past few years, and I miss working with Richard, Sophie, Jen Amrit and Jared, who have all long since left the village.”

Gareth Gates ‘so proud’ of Faye Brookes’ Corrie performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Gates has praised his fiancée Faye Brookes for her “incredible” performance in last night’s (20.03.19) ‘Coronation Street’.
The 34-year-old singer is “really proud” of his significant other, whose character Kate Connor was distraught in last night’s ‘Corrie’ double bill when her fiancée Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) met her maker on their wedding day after the factory roof collapsed on top of her.
In a video posted on his Instagram account, Gareth said: “I’ve just watched a small snippet of my beautiful lady in action, acting her heart out in the amazing ‘Coronation Street’.
“You were incredible. You absolutely smashed it.
“Obviously we’ve worked together so I know you’re a great actress. You are incredible and I’m really proud of you.
“But it’s such a shame to lose Bhavna though.”
He added the caption: “So proud of my lady @faye_brookes in @coronationstreet – such amazing TRUE acting. Sad to lose the beautiful and incredibly talented @bhavnalimbachia (sic)”
Gareth and Faye headed to London eatery STK London to celebrate her performance last night.
He wrote: “Thank you @stk.london for the most amazing evening with my lady @faye_brookes – celebrating her incredible episode of @coronationstreet this evening. So proud of you baby x (sic)”
While Faye’s on-screen love life is in tatters, her relationship with Gareth off-screen is going from strength to strength after he popped the question in January.
It came just months after the pair went their separate ways last September following a six-year romance, but after reconciling the actress said the couple will “never take each other for granted again”.
Quizzed on their previous split, she said: “It was for the right reasons for sure. I feel like we’ll never take each other for granted ever again.
“Work took over and we ended up missing each other so much that we were missing life together.
“We are enjoying engagement but obviously I’ve been dreaming of this [wedding] day since I was a little girl.”
