Cardi B to make film debut in Hustlers

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B is set to make her film debut in ‘Hustlers’.
The 26-year-old rapper has joined the cast of the upcoming adaptation of the New York magazine article ‘Hustlers at Scores’ alongside Julia Stiles,Keke Palmer, and Lili Reinhart.
The film from STX Entertainment – also starring Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu – takes place in the late 2000s in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis and will follow a group of former strippers who plot to steal tens of thousands of dollars from their wealthy Wall Street clients.
Lorene Scafaria will helm the project and penned the script based on the 2015 article by Jessica Pressler and shooting will begin in New York City later this week with former stripper Cardi playing one of the erotic dancers.
Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms, said in a statement: “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast.”
J.Lo previously admitted that in order to prepare for her role in the film she completely cut carbohydrates and sugars from her life which meant the 49-year-old singer and actress seriously craved her favourite foods during her 10-day diet.
She shared: “I’m getting ready for this movie called ‘Hustlers’ and I have to play a stripper, so I’m getting ready for that.
“I work out a lot, I try to stay healthy but [my trainer] was like ‘let’s do something to move the needle.'”
However, the ‘Jenny from the Block’ hitmaker was initially uncertain about the idea of cutting carbs and sugars from her diet.
She said: “That’s most of my diet. I was like ‘Completely? Like cold turkey?'”
Despite her initial reluctance, Jennifer successfully completed the challenge on January 31.

‘Dinosaur’ Matt Damon

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Damon is a “dinosaur”.
The ‘Jason Bourne’ actor rarely uses social media and admitted he and his wife Luciana Barroso – with whom he raises four children – have had a lot of conversations about how sites such as Twitter and Instagram could prove helpful in his endorsement of Water.org and Stella Artois’ ‘Pour it Forward’ campaign,
He said: “I’m a dinosaur.
“I’m looking at the impact of [social media] and it’s kind of undeniable. So yes, I think I will probably move into that realm somewhere down the line because it’s so hard for us to message around this.”
The 48-year-old actor has seen how powerful social media can be thanks to his friend Chris Hemsworth.
He added to E! News: “He is definitely in the middle of the social media world and I’ve been able to see up close because I’m with him all the time, the reach that he’s able to have. So definitely in terms of the work at Water.org, it’s definitely making it a hard case for me not to get on social media. I’ll grow up.”
The campaign aims to halt the global water crisis and Matt admitted his involvement has been a real “eye opener” because he doesn’t have personal experience of the situation.
He explained: “If you’re raising money for cancer awareness or AIDS awareness, we all have family or friends who have been affected by those things, whereas clean water is not something that we can really relate to. It’s not something that affects any of us or our friends so it’s been an eye opener for me.”
Anyone wanting to help the campaign can buy a Stella Artois chalice on their website, which helps provide five years of access to clean water for someone in the developing world.
Matt said: “You can go to the bar with your friends and by doing something really simple, you can have this profound impact on somebody’s life in the developing world. That’s just a really cool thing to come up with.”

Naya River’s theatrical son

OHMYGOSSIP — Naya Rivera’s son is a “little ham”.
The 32-year-old actress – who has three-year-old Josey with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey – thinks the youngster will follow in her footsteps when he’s older because he’s already very “theatrical”.
She said: “He’s theatrical in every way. He is definitely a little ham.”
And when Naya brought Josey to the set of ‘Step Up: High Water’, he was desperate to join her on camera.
She told E! News: “I was shooting and he was watching me in a scene and before we did the next take he goes, ‘I want to go to work with mommy! I want to go to work with you.’ I’m like, ‘You are at work with me!’ He goes, ‘no, in there,’ like in the scene.”
The actress shot to fame as Santana Lopez in ‘Glee’ and she admitted working on her YouTube series brought back a lot of memories from her former show.
She explained: “It definitely feels like home and feels like how much fun I had on ‘Glee’. Everyone is hilarious and is always just happy to be there and having a great time.”
And Naya joked she wishes her own school days had been a lot more like those she sees on screen and thinks that’s why she’s drawn to such shows.
She said: “Every time I’m on a show that has a school atmosphere, I’m, like, these schools are so great. I would’ve loved high school if I could go to these schools.
“So I guess that’s why I get to play characters that are in high schools because my high school experience was terrible.”

Jade Goody’s friends pay tribute

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Goody’s friends think she would be “so proud” of her sons.
The former ‘Big Brother’ star died of cancer in March 2009 but her closest pals, Charlene Steel, Jennifer Smith, Kelly Wyatt, Caroline Roberts and Kate Webb ensure her memory lives on by regularly spending time with Bobby, 15, and 14-year-old Freddy – who she had with former boyfriend Jeff Brazier – and sharing their favourite stories about their mum.
Kelly said: “She would be so proud of them, they are gorgeous. We love having them in our life, we see them quite a lot. We have them for sleepovers and talk to them about their mum.
“There was a time when we wasn’t sure if it was right, [but] we always asked Jeff what he thought…
“Freddie particularly wants to know funny stories about his mum. They are so like her.”
The group also recalled the emotional moment when Jade broke the news to her sons that she was dying.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’, Kate said: “She comforted everyone…the only time I saw her lose it was then. That was the only time you could hear her screaming.”
Before Jade passed away, her friends helped organise her wedding to Jack Tweed and though their pal was extremely sick, she still wanted to be in control and was a bridezilla”.
Caroline laughed and said: “She was a bridezilla anyway…She said to me, you need to have the week off…Tell your boss. I will speak to him. Book the week off and then you can just concentrate on my wedding.”
Kelly added: “It was like she had saved all her energy for that day. After that, that was when she was really weak. She had to keep going off and get her meds topped up [from the nurse] but other than that, she was on form.”
And while Jade was very happy on her big day, it was emotional for everyone.
Kate said: “Jade was also trying to get as much money for her boys..it was a job for her…She had a magazine [there], we were doing a show. It was an amazing performance from her. The best bit for me was her speech. I will never forget her speech. She basically said: ‘I am hoping for a miracle.’ The whole room [cried]…”

Lupita Nyong’o ‘staunch watcher’ of Neighbours

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o learnt “quite a lot” about Australian cities by being a “staunch watcher” of ‘Neighbours’.
The ’12 Years a Slave’ star, who grew up in Kenya, where the soap was broadcast on a local network, admits she used to be a regular viewer of the Aussie show and the programme helped her to learn about the country’s geography.
When asked on Aussie current affairs show ‘The Project’ whether she knew there was a city in Australia called Adelaide – the name of her character in horror film ‘Us’ – she replied: “Yes. I was a very staunch watcher of ‘Neighbours’.
“I know quite a lot about Australian cities.”
However, Lupita wasn’t aware the city’s nickname was Radelaide, a slang term used when someone is a fan of the area.
When informed about this, the ‘Queen of Katwe’ actress said: “I did not know that.”
Following Lupita’s revelation, fans will no doubt be hoping show bosses line her up for a potential cameo, which could see her follow in the footsteps of the likes of Lily Allen, who appeared as herself on the show in 2009, as did The Wombats in the same year.
Spice Girls singer Emma Bunton, Sinitta, and Paula Abdul have also made cameos in Erinsborough, while Natalie Imbruglia appeared as Beth Brennan in ‘Neighbours’ in the early 90s, and began a singing career after leaving the soap.
Last month, Jess Glynne confirmed she had filmed a ‘Neighbours’ cameo alongside Ramsay Street stalwart Stefan Dennis – who plays Paul Robinson – and rising star Bonnie Anderson (Bea Nilsson) in a scene which will air in the coming months.
She said: “I’ve been watching ‘Neighbours’ since I was a little kid, I grew up with up it, it was always there so it’s a very surreal experience to be here on the set and be actually acting.
“My family are so, so excited I’m doing it, it’s a huge moment for them.
“It’s one of those things that I just couldn’t ever imagine doing so I have really had a bucket list moment and to be able to sing on the show is amazing. It was also great to meet the cast.”

Katie McGlynn’s Corrie baby nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie McGlynn was so “nervous” acting with a real baby on ‘Coronation Street’ she was scared she might drop him.
The 25-year-old actress – who portrays Sinead Tinker on the ITV soap – feared she wouldn’t be able to cope with the teeny actors who step in to play her alter-ego’s son Bertie, because she hasn’t had much experience around kids, but admits it is “easier to connect” to a real human than a doll.
She said: “I was really nervous because I haven’t had much experience around babies, I only have one niece.
“They are so small I was scared I might drop the babies but I have just tried to be as natural as possible.
“On ‘Coronation Street’, I have never filmed with a baby before. I have filmed with twin toddlers before on ‘Waterloo Road’ and that was hard work but with a baby it’s lovely. It’s really nice because it is a lot easier to connect to a real baby than to act with a doll or a jelly baby because it’s easier to pull the emotion out.”
However, filming with a real baby does come with its disruptions, but Katie saw the funny side when the little actor playing Bertie kept making noises in one scene where the character was supposed to be silent.
She added: “The first scenes we had, the baby was in a Moses basket and Rob and I were wondering when we were going to get to hold him.
“There is a scene where Bertie is meant to be sound asleep and Sinead panics because she sees him in the Moses basket, completely silent.
“But as soon as we started rolling the camera for a take the baby started making noises, every time.
“That was very funny, but aside from that it’s been really good.”

Holly Willoughby is hopeful Fearne Cotton will return to Celebrity Juice

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby is hopeful Fearne Cotton will return to ‘Celebrity Juice’ for some cameo appearances.
The 38-year-old TV presenter was felt “sad” when she found out her 37-year-old radio host pal would be leaving the hit ITV2 show, but has her fingers crossed her friend will return for “one-off specials” every now and again.
Holly said: “I was sad because I’m going to miss her. You never want anything to end, it’s been brilliant and such fun and I love the fact that I’ve had my friend there with me every series.
“I could really understand why she decided it was the right time and I totally respect that.
“I hope that she comes back for one-off specials every now and again, that she’ll come back and play with us some time because it would be lovely.”
The ‘This Morning’ host was “very surprised” when Fearne broke the news that she was leaving.
She said: “It was a funny one because I was definitely surprised, I didn’t expect it.
“‘Celebrity Juice’ is one of those shows we started doing what feels like a million years ago. You think it’s going to go on forever and always be there.
“I knew something was up because she called me and she never calls me.
“She texts me a gazillion times, she’s fast at texting.
“When my phone rang and it was her I was like, ‘What’s happened?’, I knew she was going to tell me something big.”
Holly would love the Radio 2 host – who is being replaced on the show by Paddy McGuinness – to join her team if she makes a cameo appearance, so they can “totally gang up” on Keith Lemon together.
She said: “We’ve never been on the same team before so I hope if she does come on as a guest she’ll be on my team.
“That would be amazing, so much fun! We can totally gang up on Keith, I’d love that.”

Patricia Arquette didn’t ‘anticipate’ best roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Patricia Arquette didn’t “anticipate” that she’s get the best roles of her career in her 50s.
The 50-year-old actress plays Dee Dee Blanchard – a mother suffering with Munchausen syndrome – in the much-anticipated Hulu series, ‘The Act’, and the star thinks streaming services have “opened a lot of doors” for her as she’s gotten older because they have embraced diversity.
She said: “I didn’t anticipate that. [The influx of streaming services has] opened a lot of doors for different storytellers and more diversity, so it’s a good time for everybody right now.
“Certainly in my case, being a 50-year-old woman, I didn’t imagine I’d be getting good parts like this. I don’t know how long it will last for, so knock on wood.”
Hulu’s upcoming dark drama is based on the disturbing true story of Gypsy Rose – played by Joey King – and Dee Dee Blanchard (Arquette) and a complex mother-daughter relationship that culminated in murder.
Patricia – who has two children, Enzo, 30, with former partner Paul Ross and Harlow, 16, with ex-husband Thomas Jane – also admitted that her son and daughter were reluctant for her to take on the anthology project because of it’s bleak plot.
Speaking to USA Today, Patricia added: “I told my kids I was thinking about doing this project, and they were like, ‘No, Mom, don’t do it.’ I was like, ‘Guys, you know this is pretend for me. I’m not going to poison you.’ ”
The ‘Medium’ star shared a lot of “common feelings” with her character because her daughter went away to school and she felt “phobic” over their separation.
“My daughter ended up going away to school right before we started this, so I was having a lot of feelings of, ‘How will I know where she is? How can I defend her? I’m going to miss her so bad.’
“So I took these normal, common feelings and extended them to almost phobic levels. For Dee Dee, when Gypsy would be in the other room, that was a trauma – for her just to be out of her sight felt too dangerous.
“This little girl takes control, and makes a lot of very important choices that have big implications. That’s what’s really different about this story: Very few victims rise up and take their power back, certainly not in this way.”

Jackie Cruz attempted suicide multiple times following crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Jackie Cruz attempted suicide multiple times after having a near-fatal car crash.
The ‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress was left with a “crooked” face and multiple other injuries after the smash as a teenager, which happened when a friend began racing the vehicle next to them while on the way to a concert and lost control, sending Jackie – who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt – through the windshield.
The 32-year-old star was rushed to hospital and underwent brain surgery but afterwards, she was left feeling “very depressed” because she didn’t “recognise” herself any more.
She said: “They had to shave my head right away. I had a kidney contusion, a collapsed lung, and two broken vertebrae. So my eyes were crooked and my face was crooked, I couldn’t smile.
“Looking at myself in the mirror, not like recognising myself, was scary. I wanted to commit suicide at the time because all I ever wanted was to be an actress and a singer and I grew up just watching beautiful people on TV and I just felt like that was it for me.
“It didn’t look like me anymore. I didn’t know who it was. I was very depressed and I tried to kill myself a few times with pills.”
But Jackie – who was in a coma for 72 hours after the surgery – eventually realised beauty came from “within” thanks to a fellow patient, 10-year-old Melly.
Speaking to People magazine, Jackie added: “There was a little girl in the hospital. She was 10 years old, and her name is Melly. She will never walk again, but she is strong and happy and she would come by my room all the time and I never really paid attention.
“Then we got to talking, and she told me I was pretty. She taught me that beauty is always from within. It’s the way you treat someone, it’s the way you are, and she saw that. She saw the strength without, she saw the beauty in me without looking at my surface.”
Despite her struggles at the time, the actress thinks the accident set her back on the right path in her life.
She said: “I don’t regret anything. I’m so grateful to God that [it] acted and happened because I was really going in the wrong way of life and I feel like it was a slap in the face.”

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard work ‘really, really hard’ on their marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have to “work really, really hard” as a couple.
The pair have been together for nearly 12 years and have two daughters, Lincoln, five, and four-year-old Delta, but they admitted that they’re “pretty much opposites” and have to be patient with each other as they’re both “painfully stubborn”.
In an interview with People magazine Dax, 44, said: “We definitely had to work really hard at being a couple because we’re both incredibly, painfully stubborn, and we’re pretty much opposites.”
The couple got engaged in 2010 but vowed not to tie the knot until same-sex marriage was legalised in California, and though they wed in 2013, the 38-year-old actress admitted she had accepted it was unlikely they would ever get hitched because the ‘Parenthood’ star didn’t see it as important.
She said: “He has a great argument that the state having a piece of paper doesn’t mean he’s going to be nice to me and by my side for the rest of my life. [Rather], that is going to be evidenced by how we treat each other and the commitment that we make.
“I had surrendered, like ‘Okay, well, I’m never going to get any sort of traditional marriage out of this, and that’s okay because I trust him.’ I really, really trusted him and believed that we were going to go the long haul.”
Dax then explained that he decided to propose as he wanted to make the ‘Good Place’ actress happy and wasn’t worried about the “tradition or history of marriage”.
He said: “Ultimately, I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing it because my partner wants that’. Forget the tradition or history of marriage as a concept, you knowing I was doing something that I didn’t want to do because I loved [Kristen].”

Danny DeVito remains ‘very close’ with Rhea Perlman after divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny DeVito has remained “very close” to Rhea Perlman despite their divorce.
The 74-year-old actor has insisted that, although he and the 70-year-old actress called time on their 46-year marriage in 2017, the pair are still friends.”
In an interview with People magazine, he said: “We’re friends. We’re happy. Everybody’s happy.”
And after previously working with his ex-wife on projects including TV series ‘Taxi’ and as a married couple in ‘Matilda’, Danny won’t rule out working with Rhea again in the future.
He added: “She’s a good actress and I love working with her.”
The ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ star has children Lucy, 36, Grace, 34, and Jacob, 32 with the ‘Cheers’ actress and first announced their split in October 2012 after 30 years of marriage and over 40 years together, however later reconciled in March 2013 before going their separate ways again in March 2017.
Meanwhile, Danny can next be seen as ringmaster Max Medici in Tim Burton’s live action take on ‘Dumbo’ and he felt “really honoured” when the director called him to ask him to be a part of the movie.
He said: I felt really honoured to be in his movie. I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if I wasn’t in this film. This is one of my favourite Disney movies.
“[The new movie] captures all the feelings and sensibilities of [the original]–how people push away something different. And then also the idea of figuring out how to conquer the fears and insecurities that we have in life.
“It’s all there with Tim’s incredible artistry.”

Rob Delaney feels like ‘a bag of wet rubbish’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Delaney has been a “bag of wet rubbish” since his son died 14 months ago.
The ‘Catastrophe’ actor’s two-year-old son Henry died of cancer in January 2018, and he has now said the tragedy has “been very hard” to deal with, and he’s only just learning how to cope with the “waves” of emotion he feels.
He said: “I’m a mess. My child died 14 months ago and I’m basically a bag of wet rubbish. I need a lot of help. It has been very hard. It comes in waves. I’ve learned to not control how the waves come. Right now I’m sad a lot.”
Rob, 42, has opened up on his loss several times, and says the reason he wants to speak out is because he wants to let other grieving parents know it’s “okay that they feel terrible”.
He added: “The reason I’m being honest with you and not trying to impress you, and make you think I’m cool or that I’m a tough guy, or maybe working through loss in an inspiring way, is that I have found that if a bereaved parent or bereaved sibling reads this, I want them to know that it’s okay that they feel terrible, sad, confused and so brutally humbled.
“I’ve been sad and angry and I am telling you that just in case somebody else who has suffered a terrible loss reads this – so they don’t feel like some a**hole from TV has it all together. I am a life-time work in progress.”
The actor – who had Henry with his wife Leah, with whom he also has two older sons, ages seven and six, and a baby boy born late last year – then praised charity Rainbow Trust for their work in supporting families with ill children, as he says Henry’s care worker was “like a paratrooper”.
Speaking to the Evening Standard newspaper whilst at the Rainbow Trust’s annual Trust In Fashion fundraiser, he said: “We were at Great Ormond Street Hospital for seven months, and then we were at our local hospital for seven months, and then we were home with Henry for seven months, and then he died. It would have been towards the end of our Great Ormond Street stay that we would have been hooked up with Rainbow Trust. The care worker assigned to us was a woman named Fiona who was just amazing, and remains so. She still comes and visits us sometimes.
“At that point we didn’t know Henry was going to die. We knew he was disabled by his tumour and his surgery. Fiona was like a paratrooper who just drops in and has the skill set to help people in unbelievable pain and fear.”

Lena Dunham committed to online dating after split from Jack Antonoff

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Dunham threw herself into the dating scene “with the abandon of a grandma of ten shopping duty-free” following her break-up from Jack Antonoff.
The ‘Girls’ creator split from the Fun guitarist in December 2017 after being with him for five years and that split came in the wake of her undergoing a hysterectomy due to endometriosis – a condition that results in the tissue that lines the womb being found outside the reproductive organ.
Lena decided to throw herself into the world of online dating and used a “thirst-trap picture in some plus-size panties” posted on Instagram to entice potential suitors and had some dates with a man called ‘Jeremy’ who “slid into” her “DMs” with her even visiting his house after getting to know him on the social media platform.
However, the 32-year-old actress’ soon realised the dating game had changed due to the #MeToo movement, with America guys reassessing the way they acted around women.
Writing an essay about her experiences for Vogue, she revealed: “After half a decade with the same person, I had returned to my dating life with the abandon of a grandma of ten shopping duty-free. I had missed all of this: the anxiety of constructing a new identity worth wanting, the jittery caffeine-high moments before the first kiss, and an introduction to someone’s second personality, the one they have when lust is unleashed. It’s always amazed me how people transform once sex is introduced … But when I emerged onto the free market, what I found was a vastly changed world. Among its many reverberations, the #MeToo movement had made any sensible or sensitive man reconsider his impact on the women he has encountered over the years. As a survivor of sexual assault and dozens of trespasses, I was, of course, overjoyed that consent was now a part of the everyday vocabulary. But that conversation around consent – the echoes of ‘Is this OK?’ – served as a reminder of the fact that I was having sex at all. And sex is something I feel infinite shame about and can enjoy only if I’m so caught up in it that my awareness of the act is almost entirely obliterated by the intensity of the approach.”
Lena is yet to meet a man who she could contemplate spending the rest of her life and it has made re-evaluate what she wants in a man in all aspects of a relationship.
She said: “I know what it is to be in love, and I liked it. But the bigger issue is, I know what it’s like to make a home with someone, and I loved it. It’s safe. It’s free of shame and pain and humiliation. It was heaven, eating Indian food in front of old episodes of ‘Strangers with Candy’, and it relegated me to a life without arousal. This moment in history has forced me to ask why I want what I want, and to consider all the societal forces (gender presentation, race, privilege) that allow me to want it in the first place.”

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez do ‘everything’ together

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez do “everything” together.
The singer-and-actress and the retired baseball star – who got engaged earlier this month – feel they are “stronger” as a couple and, after being named joint brand ambassadors for eyewear label Quay Australia, are looking for more projects they can tackle as a team.
Jennifer, 43, said: “Everything that we do, we do together. He knows my dreams and I know his dreams, and together we feel like we’re stronger…
“We’re constantly supporting each other in our individual endeavours and thinking about all the things that we can build together.”
Alex, 49, added: “We are very grateful.”
After returning home from the Bahamas vacation where they got engaged, the couple couldn’t be happier together.
Jennifer told People magazine: “We’re really happy.”
Alex added: “We have [an] appreciation for where we are in our lives today, and that’s what we’re enjoying the most.”
The pair have been in Miami shooting their eyewear campaign, but they also love spending time in the city with their kids, Jennifer and ex-husband Marc Anthony’s 11-year-old twins Max and Emme, and Alex and his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis’ two daughters, Natasha, 14, and 10-year-old Ella.
The ‘World of Dance’ judge said: “We all come down here and it’s our city, it’s our second home.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer’s friend Ne-Yo previously revealed she is “over the moon” after getting engaged.
He shared: “Anybody who’s ever seen the two of them together, it’s like, ‘They getting married. Yeah, they getting married. That’s going to happen.’ I found out the same way everyone else did. I looked on IG and saw and went, ‘Oh, it finally happened!’ Then I instantly sent her a text saying, ‘Congrats, congrats, congrats,’ and she said, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you.’ And, I said, ‘OK, y’all are doing engaged stuff, you go do that.’ I’m super happy for her.
“She’s over the moon. She really is. You can totally tell. I won’t say it’s the happiest she’s ever been – I don’t personally know – but it’s the happiest I’ve seen her since I’ve known her, so that being said, good job A-Rod! He comes on set from time-to-time. He’s super fun. He’s her biggest fan, which is great, and she lights up. She already lights up a room when she walks in, because it’s just J. Lo and that’s what she does, but when he comes around it’s like, ‘OK, [put on your] sunglasses. We get it – you guys love each other and you’re happy. Alright, we understand.'”

Gemma Chan ‘loves’ seeing inclusivity in magazines

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Chan “loves” seeing inclusivity on catwalks and in magazines.
The 36-year-old actress finds it “beautiful” that designers like Prabal Gurung – who produces luxury collections that go up to a size 22 – are tackling diversity and size discrimination on their runways.
