Cardi B suing for defamation

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B is suing two vloggers for defamation.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker – who has nine-month-old daughter Kulture with husband Offset – has accused Latasha Kebe and Starmarie Ebony Jones of “trying to tarnish” her name and “spread lies” after allegedly making “defamatory statements” about her.
According to the lawsuit, Latasha has “put out at least 23 videos” about Cardi on ‘unWinewithTashaK’ in the last 14 months and reportedly implied the 26-year-old rapper had taken drugs during her pregnancy.
The lawsuit states: “While Plaintiff was pregnant, on or around April 13, 2018, Kebe published a video where Kebe stated that as a result of Plaintiff’s actions, Plaintiff’s then-unborn child may have intellectual disabilities.”
And Starmarie allegedly claimed in an Instagram Live video that Cardi “got herpes”, which the lawsuit branded a “false, malicious and defamatory statement”.
In the same video, she is also alleged to have claimed the ‘I Like It’ hitmaker took drugs and was engaged in prostitution.
The suit stated: “Specifically, she stated, ‘the more molly pills she would be takin, the more cocaine she would be takin.’
“Jones also falsely stated that Plaintiff was engaging in prostitution. Specifically, she stated, referring to Plaintiff, ‘I guess they were supposed to have sex, exchange sex for money.'”
According to TMZ, Cardi opted to take legal action after the women refused to retract their statements, and she is also seeking an injunction to delete the videos they posted.
The ‘Invasion of Privacy’ hitmaker later opened up about the lawsuit on Instagram but has since deleted her statement.
She wrote: “I didn’t really wanted to entertain this but ya know me and gossipinthecity never got along for years, and we always go back and forth, but what wrong is wrong and I’m glad she put me up on this.
“This person I’m suing is trying to tarnish my name and spread lies in other people blogs like gossipinthecity. spread all types of disgusting rumors about me and it has gotten worst [sic].”
“Stop trying to involve people in your disgusting goal on trying to dirty my name everything you accused me of doing and having will be proven with documents and test in court [sic].”
“By the way my father drives me and I NEVER NEVER had a assistant.”

Gary Lucy taken ill during Full Monty performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Lucy was taken ill on stage during his ‘The Full Monty’ performance on Friday (22.03.19).
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor passed out 10 minutes into the production at the Liverpool Empire theatre, and his fellow stars had to help him off stage, after he was struck down with tonsillitis and a chest infection.
A theatre source said: “It was quite dramatic and it seemed like Gary was pretty unwell.
“Audience members were understandably quite worried, there were audible gasps in the room.”
Gary – who is taking a break from his ‘Hollyoaks’ role as Luke Morgan to star in the play – took a few days off as a result.
A spokeswoman for Gary told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “He is pretty poorly with tonsillitis and a chest infection so has had to take a couple of days off work with medication.”
The 37-year-old actor took to his Twitter account to post a picture of his tonsils and admitted he couldn’t talk but was hopeful he would be available for last night’s (25.03.19) show in Leeds.
He wrote: “That’s a throat btw Can’t talk but will be fighting fit for Monday in Leeds @FullMontyPlay (sic)”
Gary inadvertently caused another stir at the Liverpool Empire earlier this month when the theatre received “several complaints” about a poster of his bare butt.
The Empire were hit with criticism for displaying a large image of his naked behind, advertising his part in ‘The Full Monty’ play, but the former ‘Footballers’ Wives’ star saw the funny side.
He wrote on Twitter: “LIVERPOOL !!! A big juicy thank you from my A**e ! @FullMontyPlay will see all you a week on Monday where you’ll see more than my A**e (sic)”

Line of Duty cast had to improve to match Stephen Graham

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure knew she had to “pull [her] socks up” after Stephen Graham was cast in ‘Line of Duty’.
The 35-year-old actress was delighted when she heard her ‘This Is England’ co-star would play master criminal John Corbett in the fifth season of the police corruption drama but she felt the whole cast needed to raise their game to match the standards set by the “powerhouse” actor.
She said: “I’ve worked with Stephen a lot.
“He’s one of my best mates. But knowing he was coming on this, the minute I heard about it, I just thought, ‘Oh God, we’re all going to have to pull our socks up again!’
“He’s a powerhouse, he’s something else, and you see that from the minute he steps on screen.”
However, the actress – who plays DS Kate Fleming – admitted she doesn’t share many scenes with her old friend.
She told reporters: “I’ve got to say, there’s not an awful lot with me and Ste in this. Which is fine, I’ve done my bit with him!”
The new season sees the police “changing tact” to target a criminal gang, rather than “bent cops” in a bid to bring down widespread corruption.
Martin Compston, who plays DS Steve Arnott, explained: “Usually, AC-12’s remit is going after bent cops, but we’re getting to a stage where we’ve been chasing this mythical character ‘H’ and we’re not getting any luck going through the cops.
“So we’re changing tact and we’re actually going after the criminal gang who the cops have been in league with. So you’re going to see behind the balaclava!”
And Martin teased the twist has made the new series “one of the most exciting” as the officers come face-to-face with their “scariest” nemesis yet.
He added: “The people we’re usually chasing are cops – they’re not out-and-out bad people, some of them have been forced into criminal acts by the situations they’ve found themselves in…
“But he’s just a criminal, he’s a murderer, he’s the leader of this gang… one of which threw me down a flight of stairs! So they are just scary people. In terms of dangerous situations, it’s definitely the scariest.”

Chace Crawford to star in Inheritance

OHMYGOSSIP — Chace Crawford has joined the cast of ‘Inheritance’.
The 33-year-old actor – who is best known for his role as Nate Archibald in teen drama series ‘Gossip Girl’ – is set to star in the upcoming indie thriller currently in production with Vaughn Stein directing.
Chace will join an already star-studded cast led by Lily Collins, and also including Kate Mara, Simon Pegg, Connie Nielsen, and Patrick Warburton.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Inheritance’ – the script for which was penned by Matthew Kennedy – tells the story of a woman (played by Lily) whose father, the patriarch of a wealthy and powerful political family, passes away and leaves her an envelope containing directions to a cabin.
In the cabin, the woman finds an imprisoned man, who opens the door to secrets that will threaten to unravel and destroy their lives and everyone around them.
Chace is believed to be playing the brother of Lily’s character, though it’s not known at this time how major his role is.
Richard B. Lewis is working as a producer through his Southpaw Entertainment banner with David Wulf of WulfPak Productions and Convergent Media’s Dan Reardon and Santosh Govindaraju.
UTA and Highland Film Group are co-repping US rights, with Highland Film Group handling foreign sales, which began at American Film Market (AFM) in November last year.
For Chace, the role comes just days after he was confirmed as an addition to the cast of the Charles Manson biopic ‘Charlie Says’, where he will star alongside Matt Smith, who is taking on the titular cult leader.
Chace is set to play the role of Tex Watson, one of the murdering members of the Manson family who was involved in the brutal killing of pregnant actress Sharon Tate.

Vanessa Kirby lands lead role in sc-fi drama StarDream

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Kirby has landed the lead role in sci-fi drama ‘StarDream’.
The 30-year-old British actress will have another stab at the genre after 2015’s space opera ‘Jupiter Ascending’ – which saw her portray Katherine Dunlevy – as she is set to play coder Andreya in Bjorn Runge’s forthcoming movie.
‘The Wife’ helmer says he was looking for a star who is “extremely sensitive and thoughtful” and that Vanessa was just that.
The 57-year-old filmmaker told Variety: “To play the leading role in this intergalactic drama needs an extremely sensitive and thoughtful actress who can maintain the balance in her character: I have found that actress in Vanessa Kirby.
“It is a tremendous honour for me to work together with her on this film.”
Runge is working on a script by Felix Harrison.
According IMDB, the plot line is as follows: “A spaceship is constructed to transport hundreds of thousands of cryogenically frozen humans from a failing planet Earth.
“When the on-board computer malfunctions, coder Andreya develops an artificial intelligence-based solution that she calls Stephen, who develops a profound attachment to Andreya, compromising the mission and the future of the human race.”
The movie is slated to be released in 2020, with production due to start at some point this year.
Vanessa will next be seen as Hattie Shaw in ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’ this summer.

Stereophonics’ Kelly Jones set for solo tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones is set to embark on a solo tour.
The 44-year-old lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and keyboardist of the ‘Have a Nice Day’ hitmakers released his debut – and only – solo album ‘Only the Names Have Been Changed’ back in 2007, and now 12 years on from that release, he’s set to take the material out on the road once more.
Fans are promised a set filled with hits from Stereophonics’ impressive 22-year back catalogue, as well as tracks from Kelly’s own album.
The rocker has also revealed there will be some “new songs” in the mix, and even some covers of songs that have “inspired” him.
In a statement for the tour, he said: “I’ll be performing some old songs, lots of songs I don’t normally do, some new songs, songs that have inspired me and stories that have inspired me. The tour is about overcoming things and moving on from obstacles and building strength from that. I am looking forward to performing with some new musicians and creating some beautiful moments.”
Kelly will be performing six shows across the UK, in cities including Edinburgh, Cardiff, Brighton, London, Birmingham, and Nottingham, throughout June and July this year.
Despite not releasing a solo album since his debut 12 years ago, Kelly last put out a record in 2017, when Stereophonics released ‘Scream Above the Sounds’.
Last month, the band shared a standalone single called ‘Chaos From The Top Down’, which is sung from the perspective of a 15-year-old boy who’s just been shot.
Speaking about the track, Kelly said at the time: “[It] also touches on the tags and labels that have been stuck on [the boy].
“The stereotypes and clichés that were placed on him. It’s based on a true story that happened just outside my street. It’s happening everywhere. I’ve always written about what’s going on around me or within me since ‘Local Boy In The Photograph’ in 1996.”
Kelly Jones’ solo tour dates:
JUNE 2019
01 – Usher Hall, Edinburgh
08 – St David’s Hall, Cardiff
10 – Brighton Dome, Brighton
16 – Eventim Apollo, London
JULY 2019

Michael Buerk slams BBC for not being ‘representative’

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Buerk thinks the BBC has become too “middle-class”.
The 73-year-old broadcaster is concerned that only those with “wealthy parents” are able to break into the organisation and believes the corporation has become “much less representative” of viewers as a result.
Writing for Radio Times magazine, he said: “Journalism’s a dying industry, broadcasting’s fragmenting and desperately insecure, but they’re still fashionable careers for our gilded youth.
“You have to have wealthy parents with contacts to support you, preferably living close to central London.
“While we’ve been worrying about the lack of diverse faces on the screen, or whether women are paid less fabulously than the men, the BBC, and the media generally, have become much less representative of those they serve.”
The former newsreader – who pointed out that once John Humphrys leaves the ‘Today’ programme later this year, all remaining presenters of the show will be privately educated – believes the network has become “uniformly young and urban” and offers a limited view of the world as a result.
He wrote: “‘Many of today’s generation are brilliant but there are serious implications. The BBC now seems a smaller tent.
“It is not deliberately biased but its world view is bound to reflect the collective set of assumptions of those who work for it. These are more uniformly middle-class, well-educated, young, urban and bright, with little experience of – and sometimes little sympathy for – business, industry, the countryside, localness, traditions and politicians.”
When he joined the BBC in 1970, very few of Michael’s colleagues were university educated.
He said: “They were sharp, if not especially clever, but they had the smell of the street about them and an empathy with those in the underprivileged sticks from which most had hailed.”
A spokesperson for the corporation insisted they are “more diverse” than ever before.
They said: “More than eight out of 10 of our workforce were educated in state schools and we’re more diverse than we’ve ever been, but we want to lead the way and on top of offering hundreds of apprenticeships we recently set out a range of further action to find and develop the best talent whatever their background.”

Michael B. Jordan to star in Methusaleh

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan is set to star in ‘Methusaleh’.
The 32-year-old actor will reportedly produce and lead the Warner Bros. film based on the Biblical story of Methuselah – the Man of the Javelin – who lives to be hundreds of years old without showing the physical signs of ageing.
The ‘Creed’ star will produce through his Outlier Society production company along with Heyday’s David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford.
According to reports, the movie has been pitched as an “elevated genre” and will focus on the skills accumulated by the lead character throughout his existence and will be penned by Arash Amel and Zach Dean.
The project has been in development by Warner for years and in 2017 it was reported that director Jerry Bruckheimer would helm the project with Tom Cruise as the lead and Will Smith has also previously been attached to the project.
The ‘Black Panther’ star was recently reported to be in talks for a key role in drama film ‘Journal for Jordan’ directed by Hollywood great Denzel Washington and Jordan will help to produce the film under his Outlier Society banner whilst Washington will also produce, alongside Escape Artist’s Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.
Oscar-nominated screenwriter Virgil Williams has penned the script, which is based on the true story of Dana Canedy, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, and how she fell in love with Sergeant Charles Monroe King.
The script is informed by King’s journals, which he had penned for the couple’s newborn son, Jordan. King had wrote these whilst he was deployed overseas and whilst he sadly died whilst on active duty in Iraq in 2006, his messages of hope continue to live on through his letters.

Winston Duke says Avengers: Endgame is ‘unlike anything before’

OHMYGOSSIP — Winston Duke says ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is “unlike anything else you have seen before”.
The 32-year-old actor appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ as M’Baku – the leader of the Jabari Tribe – and has revealed that he will be featuring in the forthcoming instalment of the superhero franchise.
The ‘Us’ star went on to say that ‘Avengers: Endgame’ – which will seal the fate of many MCU heroes who disappeared at the end of ‘Infinity War’ – is “one heck of a ride” and insisted Marvel have gone “above and beyond” in trying to top their last film.
When asked in an interview with British GQ whether he would be returning for the next instalment of the franchise, he said: “I don’t think I’m allowed to say at this stage … Oh, actually, I think I can. Yes, I’m in the new ‘Avengers’ movie. I’m in ‘Endgame’ and it is one heck of a ride! Unlike anything else you have seen before. Marvel always goes above and beyond in trying to top their previous project. They’re 21 movies in, so now they’re just able to be as bold as they want.”
Winston also spoke about “challenging the [cultural] landscape” while making ‘Black Panther – the first Marvel film with a predominantly black cast – and recalled a moment where his co-star and friend Lupita Nyong’o explained to him that it was “crazy” they were able to make this film.
He said: “There was one day when we were on the set of Universal Studios in a cart driving by the ‘Jaws’ set and I look over at [Nyong’o] and said, ‘Do you realise how crazy it is that we’re on the Universal Studios set, by the original Jaws set, about to do our own movie? Do you realise how crazy this is?’ We’re in a place with so much history. And now we get to change and challenge the landscape that we inherited.”

Stevie Wonder to headline BST Hyde Park

OHMYGOSSIP — Stevie Wonder will headline Barclaycard presents British Summertime Hyde Park with special guest Lionel Richie.
The ‘Superstition’ hitmaker – who last played the summer festival series three years ago – will bring his ‘The Stevie Wonder Song Party: A Celebration of Life, Love & Music’ show to London for the first time on July 6.
Speaking about ‘Song Party’ – which celebrates his storied career, spanning almost six decades – Stevie said: “We’re living in a time where there’s so much is going on in the world.
“But the one thing that we know for sure that we can celebrate is life, love and music.
“I’m very thankful that you all have been so wonderful to me, giving me your life and allowing me to share my music with you since I was 11 years old, which was just a little ago. So, we’re just going to play and have fun.”
The 68-year-old music icon will be joined on the Great Oak Stage by his dear friend and peer Lionel, 69, who he paid tribute to by performing a cover of his 1977 hit with the Commodores ‘Easy’ at the ‘Hello’ hitmaker’s Kennedy Center Honours ceremony in December 2017.
Lionel said at the time: “I got into the business because I wanted to be like Stevie Wonder, so for all of a sudden for Stevie to be singing my song, it was surreal.”
On their final line-up announcement, Jim King, SVP of promoter AEG Presents, commented: “There are headliners, great headliners, lineups, stellar lineups and a thousand other adjectives we use but we will never find the one that correctly describes what will be happening in Hyde Park on Saturday, July 6.
“Stevie Wonder is singing his biggest hits for his very own ‘Song Party’ and for good measure, and to our mutual amazement, joy and wonder, he is also bringing his good friend Lionel Richie.”
BST 2019 will also see headline performances from Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The National, Robbie Williams and Florence + the Machine.
Tickets for Stevie and Lionel’s show go on sale on Friday (29.03.19) from 9am.

Eva Green ‘has to feel like herself’ on red carpet

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Green has to “feel like herself” when she is on the red carpet.
The 38-year-old actress thinks haute couture dresses are “wonderful” because she “enjoys” wearing them, however, she doesn’t want her occasion outfits not to reflect her personal style.
She told UK Vogue: “It’s wonderful to dress up for the red carpet…If Alexander McQueen gives me a dress, I’m going to enjoy wearing it. That said, I have to feel like myself in my clothes. I work with the stylist Leslie Fremar. She’s a little bit edgy, and she really listens to you.
“I always prefer a dress that feels original, whether it’s Iris Van Herpen or Tom Ford. Original, like Dumbo!”
When she isn’t on the red carpet, Eva likes to keep things casual.
She said: “In terms of day-to-day style, I’m all about being comfortable. I prefer flats to heels, and I wear a lot of Rick Owens and Ann Demeulemeester – leggings and flowing tops, especially. If I’m home though, I may just stay in sweatpants.”
And Eva credits her glowing complexion to Boot0’s No.7 beauty range and drinking “lots of water” mixed with a healthy diet.
She added: “No. 7 from boots. My skin is quite dry, and their cream is incredibly nourishing. It’s boring, but I also drink lots of water and eat well. That makes more of a difference than any product. That said, I do love a sheet mask.”
The ‘Casino Royale’ star plays Colette Marchant in Tim Burton’s upcoming live action remake of the 1941 Disney classic, ‘Dumbo’, and Eva has explained that the role was “special” because there were so many “over-the-top sets”.
She said: “What made filming special though was that there were so many really over-the-top sets. It felt like going back to the golden age of Hollywood, particularly the scenes with all of the acrobats and spectators in Disneyland.”

Georgia Kousoulou: Mike Thalassitis’ death ‘really hit home’

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Kousoulou admits Mike Thalassitis’ tragic death “really hit home” after her boyfriend Tommy Mallet’s own mental health battle.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ cast member has revealed how the late ‘Love Island’ star’s passing, aged 26, earlier this month had a big impact on her because her man had been struggling last summer.
She told MailOnline: “Do you know what, mental health is a hard thing, god bless Mike and his family. That really shook me up. It really hit home for me because Tommy was in that place.
“He was in a bad way through summer, it really scared me because I wish Mike would have opened up to anyone, or even me.
“I didn’t know him but I had gone through it with Tommy and it really upset me, it’s not something I can speak loosely about.”
The reality TV star was relieved Tommy spoke out about his own battle last year, and the ‘TOWIE’ series finale showed him breaking down over his difficult few months.
Georgia added: “It’s a serious thing. I’m so glad Tommy spoke out about it. How Tommy coped was through talking and showing his emotions. He never cries so when he cried I was like, ‘Woah’ it was huge. It’s inspired other people to talk.”
Mike’s body was found in woodland near his Essex home earlier this month.
Since his death, ITV – who air ‘Love Island’ – have announced “proactive” changes will be made to their aftercare for the stars of the popular show.
‘Embarrassing Bodies’ star Dr. Christian Jessen has called production companies to do more to help.
He recently said: “The problem with the shows is that one minute you are up there and the next minute you are literally nobody as a new show has come out.
“One minute everyone loves you and the next they don’t know who the f**k you are, which is a hugely tough thing to deal with. I think TV channels and production companies have a responsibility to make sure people are looked after.”

James Lock and Yazmin Oukhellou made surprise TOWIE return

OHMYGOSSIP — James Lock and Yazmin Oukhellou have made a surprise return to ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ after leaving to work on their relationship.
The loved-up couple – who left last year to focus on their work at a new wellness retreat in Morocco – stunned their co-stars when they made their shock comeback at the series launch party this week, and said their romance is stronger than ever.
James told The Sun Online: “We’ve had some happy receptions and others haven’t been as happy to see us. Some people have bad weeks, bad months, bad years and for us we had a bad year.
“But it hasn’t broken us and we’ve moved on from it. It’s made us stronger and more positive.”
Yaz added that they kept their return a secret from the rest of the cast until the moment they arrived at the event.
She said: “Everyone thought we’d been axed, but we’re back. We wanted to surprise everyone in the cast, so they had no idea we were coming back until we arrived here.”
And while they’re ready to throw themselves back into the ITVBe show, the couple won’t be getting involved in too much of the drama after getting a fresh outlook during their time away.
Yaz explained: “I’m not interested in having fights or dramas with anyone anymore, it’s so immature now. We’ve set up our own wellness retreat and I’ve got healthy and positive vibes to put into that.
“I haven’t got time to be wasting my energy with silly arguments. If anyone wants to create those dramas needs to get a job.”
The couple left ‘TOWIE’ during filming for the previous series, and it was reported at the time they were planning a return for 2019.
A source previously said: “James and Yaz have taken a break from the show but are both set to return in the New Year.
“They have struggled with their relationship this series but love and care for each other so want to do whatever it takes to get back on track.
“Time away from the cameras hasn’t come at a better time for Yazmin who is in the process of setting up a fitness boot camp that she hopes will refocus her mind.
“She’s in demand at the moment after overcoming her recent issues and has been offered numerous other TV shows.”

Coronation Street ‘to introduce LGBTQ+ character following Rana death’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ have cast a new LGBTQ+ character following the shock death of Rana Habeeb.
The ITV soap has faced a backlash from the LGBTQ+ community after the loveable cobbles resident – played by Bhavna Limbachia – was bumped off on her wedding day to fellow bride Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) last week, but a new character, gay footballer Kai, is set to be introduced following auditions last week.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “‘Corrie’ has had strong LGBT characters for a long time but viewers were left devastated when they killed off Rana just before she tied the knot.
“They’re now hunting for a new gay character called Kai, and held auditions last week.
“Kai will be a rising football star, who is also black, and he’s worried that being out will cause him issues.”
Rana perished last Wednesday (20.03.19) after the Underworld factory collapsed on top of her – and her death led to criticism from some viewers, who compared her passing to an online theory that LGBTQ+ couples aren’t allowed to last long term in fictional shows and films.
However, Bhavna insisted it was her decision to be killed off after she decided to quit the soap, and said she didn’t want to “offend” the community.
She explained: “My decision to leave and be killed off was never meant to offend the LGBTQ+ community.
“It was made with the same way I’ve tried to portray the character throughout the years – and that’s with truth and integrity.”
What’s more, Faye recently insisted to fans of the fictional couple – dubbed Kana – that the actresses are “just as sad” as the viewers about Rana’s demise.

“It felt like Bhavna was actually breaking up with me.”
