Al Pacino to star in King Lear

OHMYGOSSIP — Al Pacino is set to star in ‘King Lear’.
The 78-year-old Hollywood icon might be revered for his performance as Michael Corleone in ‘The Godfather’ trilogy, but he will take on another of the industry’s most coveted roles, as he’s been cast as the titular monarch in the new film adaptation of the Shakespeare play.
‘King Lear’ is to be directed by Michael Radford – who received an Oscar nomination for his work on ‘Il Postino’ – with Barry Navidi producing, after the pair previously teamed up with Pacino for the critically acclaimed 2004 Shakespeare movie ‘The Merchant of Venice’.
Radford told The Observer: “Lear is the one that everyone aims for. Al has been toying with the idea for a long time. There’s a difference between Shylock, who’s only in five scenes, and Lear, who is in every scene, pretty much. It’s enormous. I think [Pacino] would like to have that kind of kudos because he’s a terrific actor.”
Shooting for ‘King Lear’ is expected to take place next autumn, and Navidi has described the production as “very faithful” to the original work.
He said: “Before, we had the passion and the desire, but we never had a start date. We all have the energy to do [King Lear] now. We’re creating, hopefully, an epic.
“Michael and Al are going to stick to the original poetry. But a lot is to do with the delivery and the visuals. How Michael combines it and makes it more accessible, it becomes naturalistic rather than forced.”
The film will be shot in the UK, and although Radford wants to remain true to the play, he’s said he wants to make sure the setting is “recognisable”.
He said: “A lot of people think of ‘Lear’ classically as being in some sort of medieval world where people wear rough-hewn clothes. I want the world to be recognisable – not recognisable physically, but psychologically.”

Olly Murs: Women find it hard to date me

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs thinks women find it “hard” to date him.
The 34-year-old singer is currently single and while he insists it isn’t difficult for him to find someone to go out with, he knows being his girlfriend isn’t easy because of his fame and high-profile.
He told Closer magazine: “Dating isn’t hard for me, it’s harder for the girls who meet me.
“They might have already had a preconception of me and I might not be what they expect.
“They’re also entering a world that’s quite different, they could get papped and end up in the paper.
“They may think that I’m not as good-looking as I seem on TV or they might think I’m not as nice in real life.
“Whereas for me, I’m just meeting them for the first time. Maybe that’s why I’m still single!”
Olly’s last serious relationship – with Francesca Thomas – came to an end after three years in 2015 and he admits now it was partly his “selfish” behaviour and focus on his career that was to blame for their split.
He said: “I suppose when I was with my ex, I was just a little bit selfish and my career was the most important thing.
“I didn’t want to lose what I had,, and I didn’t want to take my eye off the ball. I think that’s what happens when you’re an ambitious person and want to have a successful career – you have to be selfish.
“When I first met her, I was about to start touring across America with One Direction and then I came back and toured with Robbie Williams.
“I was always on a plane travelling somewhere, doing something. For her, at the time, it must have been super hard.”
But the ‘Troublemaker’ hitmaker has learned from the past and thinks he’d be a “better” boyfriend now.
He added: “I think I’d make it work a lot better with someone now. I think I’m in a much better place.
“I’ve learned from that relationship and what I did wrong. I’ll make sure the next person has got priority in my life and is not just part of the journey.
“Next time it will be their journey as well as mine – we will be on it together. You learn from experiences.”

Joe Sugg denies Diane Buswell romance rumours

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Sugg insists there’s “no time” for romance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 27-year-old YouTube star has been romantically linked to his professional dance partner Diane Buswell during his time on the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition.
And after rumours surfaced about the pair “snogging like teenagers” at the Blackpool show last week, Joe has said there’s simply not enough hours in the day to rehearse their routines and have a love life.
He said: “There’s nothing in it. If we were dating, everyone would see it.
“It would be very visible. I heard the rumours about us snogging in Blackpool. That was interesting to see. To be honest we haven’t got time to think about that stuff. I’m much more focussed on dancing than anything else.”
Joe has been scoring high marks on the show in recent weeks, and says the competition has helped to boost his confidence.
Speaking to Sunday People newspaper, he added: “When you’re growing up you always compare yourself to other people. I was shy unless I was in my comfort zone. But the show has really helped me with that. Everyone on ‘Strictly’ is so nice and that makes you feel good about yourself.”
The vlogger is one of the favourites to take home the Glitterball trophy, and recently said there’s an “intense pressure” behind the title.
He said: “This whole experience has been of massive ups and downs of pressure.
“I handle the pressure well in certain circumstances, like on the actual night when the crowd is there. I actually perform better when there is a bigger crowd, which is a bit odd.
“But in terms of being a favourite, that is quite an intense pressure. You really do feel that everyone’s eyes are on you. You do sort of feel it.”

Jamie Redknapp: I’m going to vote Harry Redknapp off I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Redknapp wants to vote his father Harry Redknapp off of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ – so he can be reunited with his wife.
The 71-year-old football manager is currently competing on the ITV reality show, but his son Jamie is determined to see him leave the jungle as early as possible, because Jamie’s mother Sandra – who has been married to Harry for 54 years – misses him.
Jamie told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I was actually really surprised when I found out he was going to be on it because he didn’t tell me, I read it in the paper.
“He was like: ‘If I had told you, you would have told me off.’
“I’m going to try and vote him out. I want to get him to come home and see my mum and get him out of there. My mum is more nervous than anything as she misses him whenever they are apart.”
His comments come after Harry admitted on the show that he calls his wife “10 times a day” when he’s out of the house, because he’s “scared” of something happening to either of them now that they’re older.
Speaking to singer Fleur East and actress Sair Khan, Harry said: “Even when I’m out I ring her 10 times a day. She’s my life. I’m a bit scared, getting a bit older. I love her too much, if anything happened it would just kill me.
“We just get on so well, I only want to be with her. I can never wait to see her. Jamie says, ‘You’ve won the lottery.'”

John Krasinski had best time with Blunt on set

OHMYGOSSIP — John Krasinski said working with his wife Emily Blunt was the “best collaboration of his career”.
The 39-year-old actor admits that working with his wife of eight years on horror film ‘The Quiet Place’ – which he starred in, wrote and directed – was “without a doubt” the most enjoyable project of his career, however, ‘The Office’ star was initially nervous about asking Emily to feature as his on-screen spouse.
In an interview with Empire magazine, he said: “It’s without a doubt the best collaboration of my career so I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I was confident about us working together. I was nervous about getting Emily to do the movie … I was afraid she would say no. Nobody wants that rejection or the awkward dinner that night. But I was actually most afraid that she’d say ‘I’ll do it for you’. Emily knew this was a huge step for me and I was putting more on the line than I ever had. I didn’t want her to do it for me because she’d always been an actress I’d watched make the most unbelievable choices.”
Despite his inhibitions, the ‘Devil Wear’s Prada’ actress agreed and the pair worked tirelessly to make the film the “best it could be”.
He said: “When she said yes, the nerves went and we started thinking about how we could make this the best it could be. We went over every line and ran through every single scene, so by the time we got to set I was having more fun than expected because I got to watch her work. Being her number one fan, I’d never been in the front row before and that was awesome. ”

Miley Cyrus celebrates birthday with Liam Hemsworth and family

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus celebrated her 26th birthday alongside Liam Hemsworth and her family.
The ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker was surrounded by her family – including her dad Billy Ray Cyrus, her mother Tish, her sister Noah and her brother Trace – as she celebrated her big day.
Billy Ray captured the celebrations on his Instagram account, captioning a photograph: “Thankful for this moment. My thoughts and prayers with so many hearts that need mended. Peace and love to all.”
Miley celebrated her birthday shortly after she and Liam, 28, lost their home in Malibu to the California wildfires.
The chart-topping singer tweeted at the time: “Completely devastated by the fires affecting my community. I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now. (sic)”
Despite the devastation, Miley tried to dwell on the positives she could take from the situation.
She wrote: “My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong.
“I am grateful for all I have left. Sending so much love and gratitude to the firefighters and LA country Sheriff’s department! (sic)”
Liam posted a photograph of their burnt home on Twitter, and he also encouraged his followers to donate to the Malibu Foundation, which provides emergency relief assistance.
The Australian actor wrote on the platform: “It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love. Many people in Malibu and surrounding areas in California have lost their homes also and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected by these fires.

Michael B. Jordan wants Oscar for Black Panther

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan thinks an Oscar win for ‘Black Panther’ would be “amazing icing on the cake”.
The 31-year-old actor plays the main villain Killmonger in the Marvel movie – which received critical acclaim for embracing the comic book roots of the character, as well as featuring a predominantly black cast – and has said that whilst he’d love for the feature to receive an Academy Award nomination, he thinks the production has been “truly incredible all on its own”.
He said: “The movie has done such a great job, broke through so many glass ceilings, and made such an impact culturally and around the world.
“If the Academy chooses to recognise that project for all of those reasons that’s amazing icing on the cake, but I think what the movie has done so far is truly incredible and a win all its own.”
Michael says the film made him feel “accomplished” as an actor, but insists he wants to leave the Oscar nominations in the hands of the board who picks the shortlist.
Speaking to Essence, Michael added: “I felt so accomplished, but it’s not up to me to validate the film. So the people who make those decisions, that’s something they have to think about and figure out on their own.”
His comments come after the movie’s leading star Chadwick Boseman said he hopes the flick walks away with the Best Picture gong.
He said: “What I can say is that there’s no campaign [that we are mounting] for popular film; like, if there’s a campaign, it’s for best picture, and that’s all there is to it.
“We created a world, we created a culture … we had to create a religion, a spirituality, a politics; we had to create an accent; we had to pull from different cultures to create clothing styles and hair styles. It’s very much like a period piece. … So, as far as that’s concerned, I dare any movie to try to compare to the [level of] difficulty of this one.”

Benny Blanco wants to work with Drake

OHMYGOSSIP — Benny Blanco wants to work with Drake.
The acclaimed songwriter – who has collaborated with the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Lana Del Ray – thinks the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker is the only artist left on his lift that he hasn’t already been in the studio with.
He said: “There’s definitely less artists I haven’t worked with than I have. I’ve worked with all the people I’ve wanted to work with [except Drake].”
However, he’s reluctant to get involved with Drake as he thinks he doesn’t need him.
Speaking to Q magazine, he said “At the same time, he already has his thing and it sounds so good that I wouldn’t want to mess it up.”
After over a decade working behind the scenes, the ‘Eastside’ hitmaker has now stepped into the spotlight himself, even though he doesn’t feel comfortable performing in front of other people.
He said: “Look, I wanna be the centre of attention with my friends. I don’t wanna be the centre of attention with the world.
“I’m not a very public person in that side of things, I just don’t love the feeling of it.”
But Benny was inspired to take the plunge after sitting backstage with his friend Ed and watching a documentary about Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre.
He recalled: “We were watching ‘The Defiant Ones’, back to back, before one of Ed’s shows.
“He stood up and he’s like, ‘What the f**k are we doing with our lives? These guys are doing everything.’ I was like, ‘Yeah!’ and then he was like, ‘Alright, I’m gonna go play this show.’
“He literally played a stadium and I was just sitting backstage by myself. I was like, ‘What am I doing with my life?’ I was sitting there having one of those moments where you’re digging deep.”

The 34-year-old singer will celebrate a decade since he shot to fame after coming second on ‘The X Factor’ and he’s delighted to still have a large fan base and can’t wait to see them all on his upcoming UK tour.
He said: “Ten years – it’s crazy. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to get this far. I’m delighted…
“It’s amazing to still be relevant.
“I can’t wait to get back on the road, see my fans and hear what they think of the music.”
And the ‘Moves’ hitmaker is planning a special celebration to mark the milestone.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, he said: “I’ll definitely do something to commemorate it and reflect. And I’m looking forward to the next 10.”
The ‘Voice’ coach is most proud of his 2012 single ‘Troublemaker’, which became his fourth UK number one and is his highest-selling track to date.
He said: “‘Troublemaker’ is the track that holds the most memories for me.
“The success of that song opened up a whole new world for me and paved the way to be where I am now.
“It took me all around the world. I wouldn’t be a coach on ‘The Vice’ if it wasn’t for ‘Troublemaker’.”
When it comes to his new album, ‘You Know I Know – which combines his biggest hits with new material – Olly already has a favourite track, ‘Feel the Same’, which features Nile Rodgers on guitar.
He said: “It’s a classic ‘me’ song – fun and up-tempo.”
The ‘Heart Skips a Beat’ hitmaker’s last album, ’24 Hours’ was penned after his split from long-term girlfriend Francesca Thomas but he’s promised his new record is much more positive.

Tim Booth almost fought Nick Cave

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Booth almost “got in a fight” with Nick Cave after he “pretended to be a journalist” in order to interview him.
The James frontman has admitted he posed as a journalist in 1986 and interviewed the ‘Red Right Hand’ hitmaker, and says the meeting almost ended in a physical altercation, but Nick was “using drugs really heavily” and wasn’t able to “fight anyone”.
Despite the angry meeting, Tim says he’s still a big fan of Nick, but doesn’t think the 61-year-old music legend likes James very much.
He said: “Our music is nothing like Nick Cave’s, but I always had great respect for him. I don’t think he likes James at all. I pretended to be a journalist in 1986 and interviewed him when he was using drugs really heavily. We nearly got in a fight, and it was hilarious – he was so strung out he couldn’t fight anyone. Then he found out who I was, and he slagged us off! But I still love him, he’s one of the great songwriters.”
And although the 58-year-old singer has many stories to tell, he isn’t sure he’d ever pen an autobiography, because he doesn’t want people to see how “mad” he is.
When asked about the prospect of a memoir, the ‘Sit Down’ hitmaker told The Observer: “A lovely gentleman tried to persuade me last year but my wife says: ‘If you write one, everyone will see how mad you are.’ I don’t see how I gain from that. I have written a novel about a fucked-up singer in a band who sees ghosts. It’s a ghost love story. But I hit a wall after 350 pages.”

Jamie Dornan wants his kids to have Irish accents

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Dornan is desperate for his kids to have Irish accents.
The 36-year-old actor is fiercely proud of his Belfast roots and though he and his pregnant wife Amelia Warner are settled in England with their daughters, Dulcie, four, and two-year-old Elva, the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star would still love to return home one day.
Speaking to the Radio Times, he said: “I feel so privileged to have grown up there. It means a lot to me.
“First and foremost, I call myself Northern Irish I feel pride even saying that now.
“It’s a beautiful place. There’s maybe a world where I’d move back, but I live in the Cotswolds now and my wife and kids are English.
“I like to tell my kids they’re Irish a lot and keep hoping they’ll say the odd word in my accent but they haven’t yet. They’ve started school now and that’s where we’re seemingly setting up our life.”
While Jamie likes going home to Belfast, he admitted the fans he sees there can be overzealous, so he’s learned to avoid particular bars.
He said: “Belfast is brilliant now. It’s got amazing places to eat, the bars have always been brilliant, the people have always been brilliant.
“There are a few places I would avoid a little bit now because I’m probably more recognised at home than anywhere else in the world and sometimes it’s… People with a few drinks in them can be a bit ‘hands on’.
“You’re in a headlock before you know it. I mean, it’s the most loving headlock you can imagine, but sometimes you’re not up for that when all you want is a quiet drink with your mates.”

Rita Ora’s ‘really low’ years

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora has been feeling “really low” over the past few years.
The 27-year-old singer has admitted she didn’t know if she would ever be able to release her second album ‘Phoenix’ – which she dropped this week – after suffering a “long moment” in her life when she felt as though “everything was over”.
Speaking to the crowd at her album launch show at the Notting Hill Arts Club on Saturday (24.11.18), she said: “I did have a long moment in my life for the past few years where I didn’t know if it was possible to put out another album and I was really scared. I thought ‘oh my god shall I just give up and wrap it up’?
“Then I remembered something… I was like ‘I don’t know what else I can do.’ I remember feeling really low and feeling that everything was over.”
The ‘Let You Love Me’ hitmaker struggled to hold back tears as she told the audience she was just “happy to be” at the venue celebrating her album.
She added: “I have been through so much s**t to put this album out.
“I have to tell you that I’m just happy to be here.
“No matter if it was 20 people or five people. It’s literally a dream come true.”

Her comments come after she recently admitted she has trouble sleeping.
She said: “How do I sleep on the spot? Like, when you know you have two hours in the day to have a nap but your brain is going 100 miles an hour. How do you disconnect and have a nap? That’s what I want to know.”
Rita also struggles to deal with hangovers, and so the ‘Girls’ singer has learned not to “mix work with pleasure”.

Peter Andre feels younger after quitting drink

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Andre feels “young” after giving up alcohol.
The 45-year-old singer – who has Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, with ex-wife Katie Price and Amelia, four, and two-year-old Theo with spouse Emily – insists he doesn’t “want or need” to drink to have a good time and he feels much better without it.
He told Closer magazine: “I haven’t drunk alcohol for some years now. It’s just not for me, I don’t like it.
“Without it, I feel good and I feel young. I don’t want or need it.”
And the ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker loves nothing more than a quiet night in with his wife.
He said: “Mine and Emily’s favourite thing to do is to chill when the kids have gone to bed.
“There can’t be bigger couch potatoes than us – that’s my perfect night.
“Loads of chocolate and a cup of tea – perfect.”
Despite a large household, Peter insists things are usually “calm and chilled” in their home.
He said: “We’ve got a really cool, calm, chilled vibe in our home.
“We all do our own thing but always come together in the evenings for dinner and TV.
“Junior’s a great older brother to the younger two, while Princess and Millie have an adorable sisterly bond – and little Theo is becoming a real superstar.
“Theo’s really gentle and kind, just like Millie. They both have the kindness and calmness that Emily has.”
And the ‘Behind Closed Doors’ hitmaker hailed his doctor wife as “Wonder Woman”.
He gushed: “Emily is just an incredible person. She’s got such an amazing job and still manages to be an amazing mum – I’m so proud of her.
“She’s Wonder Woman. The kids were watching ‘Mary Poppins’ and they were like, ‘She’s just like you!’ It was her politeness, her mannerisms and her being such a homebody.”

David and Victoria Beckham’s home targeted by thieves again

OHMYGOSSIP — David and Victoria Beckham’s home has been targeted by burglars for the second time in a month.
In October, police were called to the 43-year-old retired soccer star and 44-year-old fashion designer’s £6 million pad in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, after three balaclava-wearing intruders were caught on CCTV outside the lavish property.
And it has now been revealed that on November 14, almost four weeks after the initial break-in attempt, security guards and attack dogs were forced to chase another set of intruders away from the property.
Neither of the pair or their four children – Brooklyn, 19, Romeo,16, Cruz, 13, and Harper, seven – were at their home at the time
A local source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “This now feels like a sustained attempt to target the house when they’re away.
“The family split their time between the idyllic rural retreat and a central London home. Luckily they had laid on extra security after the last incident – including several staff and dogs – who were able to protect the property.
“Otherwise this could have had a very different outcome. They are re-evaluating their security again and will bring in more if they need to.”
Both of the burglary attempts are thought to have been carried out by the same people, and although police weren’t called to the scene in the latest attempt, they have been “made aware” of the situation.
Thames Valley Police said: “We were called at around 6.15am on Wednesday 14th following reports of a man behaving suspiciously near a property. The Neighbourhood Policing Team has been made aware.”
During the first break-in attempt in October, the perpetrators allegedly placed a ladder up against the wall in a bid to have a view of any expensive items on display in the home.
The trio didn’t go inside the home – which the couple often visit to take time out from their hectic work schedules – and nothing was stolen, however, the incident shook up the couple who were left “devastated” by the news.

Diddy gives 18 minute eulogy for Kim Porter

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs says Kim Porter’s love was “too much” for him to “handle”, as he delivered a eulogy at her funeral on Saturday (24.11.18).
The 49-year-old hip-hop mogul spoke for almost 18 minutes during his ex-girlfriend’s funeral this weekend, which came after her sudden death on November 15, and praised his late love as his “guidance” and “confidante”.
In his speech – which The Blast reports was unprepared, with Diddy instead choosing to speak from the heart – he said: “I would come into the office every day, and she worked at the front desk, and I would be so excited to come up in the elevator. To know that I was going to see her.
“She was my friend first. She was my confidante. She was like my guidance, still is. I was just open … We fell in love and honestly, her love was too much for me to handle. It was a lot to handle, to take in.
“We didn’t really plan for this. I definitely thought I was going to go first. God didn’t have it be that way.”
The ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker also spoke of a time earlier this year when Kim had helped him out of a “dark time”.
He added: “From the top of the year, I was going through a real dark time. I was really depressed. And I don’t know why, maybe it was cause I was getting older. I just went through a dark, dark time. And she would come over and make sure … even though we weren’t together … She was just like, ‘Come on, Puff. You gotta get up. You gotta get up out the bed. You gotta get moving. You gotta get up.'”
Diddy then addressed his children – Christian, 20, and 11-year-old twins Jessie and D’Lila, whom he has with the late model, as well as 24-year-old Justin, whom he has with Misa Hylton Brim, and 12-year-old Chance, whose mother is Sarah Chapman – as he encouraged them to talk to him “about everything”.
He said: “I just want to say, to my kids – Justin, Christian, Delilah, Jessie, Chance, and the other man of the house, Quincy – your mother instilled in me this, that I pledge in front of everybody right now, that I will always be there for y’all. I will always take care of you. To the girls especially, we’re about to enter into some different type of times. I want y’all to be able to talk to me about everything, and I mean everything.”
The rapper closed his eulogy by speaking directly to Kim – whom he dated on and off for 13 years – and claiming her voice would never “stop talking” inside of him.
He said: “I want to thank each and every one of you in here today because she loved y’all. If you in here, she loved you, she touched you, you cared enough to come. And I just want to tell y’all thank you so much.
“And Kim, we gonna miss you so much. I’m not gonna miss you too much because I’m not going to let your voice inside of me stop talking. I know you like to talk to me when you get on those rants and I just want to let you know, I’ll be listening … We love you, Kim. Thank you.”
