Fleur East ‘trained’ body to cope with meat in jungle

OHMYGOSSIP — Fleur East “trained” herself to eat meat before going on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The ‘Sax’ hitmaker is known to be vegan – meaning she doesn’t eat any animal products – so surprised viewers when she was seen tucking into wallaby in the camp, and her dad Malcolm has revealed she spent two months slowly expanding her diet in order to cope with the food served on the show.
He told MailOnline: “She chose to go vegan as a lifestyle choice about two years ago, not for religious reasons, but because she’s heavily into health and fitness and because she saw the way animals were slaughtered on a video. So she said, ‘Let’s have a go at living on a vegetable-based diet.’
“When ‘I’m A Celebrity’ approached her two months back about going into the jungle she knew she’d have to do something about not eating meat, otherwise the body would react to what she ate when she was out there.
“So that’s what she did. She ate meat again. And in the jungle you’ve got no choice about what you eat have you?”
Previous contestants on the show have complained about the small rations they are given to live off so Fleur also took measures to reduce her food intake before flying out to Australia so she’d have fewer cravings.
Her dad said: “In the month before she went in she had been reducing her stomach size so that she’s not craving food all day long. She was like that about eating meat.
And Malcolm admitted the former ‘X Factor’ runner-up’s preparations were nothing new for her.
He added: “When she went on ‘X Factor’ she would practice singing while running on a treadmill so that she could combine singing and dancing, which no one else could do like her on the show.
“She’s got the determination and the personality that will step up to any challenge. I don’t think that she was particularly daunted by the prospect of ‘I’m A Celebrity.’ ”

Steven Berkoff: MeToo is a ‘reaction’

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Berkoff thinks people have used the #MeToo movement to settle “minor disgruntlements”.
The ‘Octopussy’ actor thinks the initiative – where people detailed instances of sexual harassment or misconduct they have experienced – came from a “very good source” but suggested too many have used it in a bid to clear up small issues.
He said: “#MeToo is just a reaction and, as with all reactions, it tips over. It comes from a very good source, but it attracts the elements who have, you know, minor disgruntlements and minor little feelings that they’ve been disrespected. It tilts too heavily that way. But it will tip back.”
But the 81-year-old playwright admitted he has had negative experiences with many of the people who have been accused of sexual misconduct, such as theatre director Max Stafford-Clark.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “What’s interesting is that I have had dealings with nearly every one of those people accused, and they have always been indifferent, arrogant, disinterested, pompous and sometimes downright rude. I found it really bizarre. I’d love to tell you who these b*****ds are.
“When [Stafford-Clark] was director of the Royal Court, for years I tried to get my plays put on there. He always replied, ‘No, we don’t have any room.’ Nothing, nothing, nothing.”
Steven has written a one-act play, ‘Harvey’, about disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, and if he can find a theatre to stage the production, he’s keen to take the lead role himself.
He said: “It’s a one-man show, about 15 pages of dense text. I’ve been trying to learn this over the past six months. It’s something I could do. I could play him.
“I like evil people. I’m like a surgeon who is happiest when working with a very diseased body.
“This is a creature, who offers freedom, offers to change your life, because once you hear that magic word ‘Action!’ – wow, you’ll be changed from this small, simpering B-movie actress. Suddenly on the screen, you’re touching magic, you become immortal. He’s offering that for just a few minutes in the shower.”

Dick Van Dyke paid for Mary Poppins role

OHMYGOSSIP — Dick Van Dyke had to pay for his second role in ‘Mary Poppins’.
The 92-year-old actor is known for his portrayal of chimney sweep Bert in the 1964 movie but he also portrayed banker Mr. Dawes Sr. too, and had to work hard to persuade Walt Disney to let him have the second part.
He recalled in conversation with Lin-Manuel Miranda for ABC’s upcoming ‘Mary Poppins Returns: Behind the Magic – A Special Edition of 20/20’: “I said, ‘I’ll do it for nothing.’ Actually, I had to give him $4,000 dollars. I had to pay him to do the part.”
When the ‘Hamilton’ creator further pressed whether Dick handed any money over to Disney, he quipped: “And I’d do it again.”
Lin-Manuel pointed out how many viewers fail to spot the veteran actor in his second role in the film, which Dick admitted he was well aware of.
The 38-year-old star said: “I always, when I tell my friends you’re in it. They go, ‘Oh, he’s playing Bert,’ I go, ‘Remember he played two parts in that movie.’ ”
Dick agreed: “It’s funny when you’re a kid and you see it, you don’t realise that. You don’t realise it’s you in that other part.
“But you know, when they made me up as the old man in the old one, I had to go to go to Walt and ask him for the part, he didn’t give it to me.”
Dick has another role to play in the upcoming ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ – which also stars Lin-Manuel opposite Emily Blunt as Mary – and admitted he was very “excited” when he first heard about the project, in which he plays Mr. Dawes Jr..
He said: “I got excited, of course, that there was going to be one, and, of course, my first question was: ‘Can I be in it?’ ”

Jamie Dornan likes to be challenged

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Dornan likes to be “challenged” with his work.
The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star feels it is important for every movie he does to challenge him in some way and he likes the idea of “continuously pushing himself with his work”.
He said: “With work, I always want to be challenged. I can’t draw too many parallels between challenges I face in my life and those faced by Marie Colvin or Paul Conroy, but I do like the idea of continuously pushing yourself in your work. The more scared I am of a job, the more I want to do it. To spend a whole life in your comfort zone wouldn’t be very exciting. That’s the point of view I’ve come to see this from. There’s not a lot of payoff in playing it safe.”
And whilst the 36-year-old actor doesn’t regret starring in the ‘Fifty Shades’ movies, he doesn’t think he’ll take another job that brings so “much attention and scrutiny” again.
Asked if he feels like he’s entering a new phase now the last ‘Fifty Shades’ movie has been released, he added to Vulture magazine: “I don’t see it like that, no. They’re perceived the way they’re perceived. Critically, that’s not very favourably. But they made a lot of money, and as studio pictures go, they’re pretty unique. To speak for myself, and I’ll speak for Dakota as well, it’s another job on another set. I probably won’t ever take a job with this much attention and scrutiny and public opinion directed at it again. And that’s fine. From a practical point of view, you just move on to the next and keep your head down. But listen, it’s given us so much. The work that I’ve been doing has been a million miles from that, and not even by choice. You just keep plugging away, doing good work, and trying to better yourself.”

Hugh Jackman: Wolverine will be back

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman has promised fans he’ll return as Wolverine – but not in a crossover movie.
The 50-year-old actor played the iconic comic book character for 17 years, with his first outing in 2000, but his mutant alter-ego met his demise in 2017’s ‘Logan’.
‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds has been constantly pestering Jackman to do a crossover movie, but ‘The Greatest Showman’ star isn’t budging.
In a forthcoming interview with People’s ‘Sunday Today’, Jackman said: “Oh, Wolverine will be back.
“Someone’s going to buy him, I don’t know.”
When interviewer Willie Geist said: “Not you though.”
He replied: “No, but Ryan is relentless.
“He keeps coming back to me in all these ways, shapes and forms.
“I just said, ‘You know, I just don’t think the world really wants to see Deadpool with Wolverine.’ ” “Maybe a cameo from Deadpool? I just think it runs over it for Deadpool.”
When the host joked that Reynolds thinks it will be a good way to boost his career, Jackman quipped: “Oh, really? That’s nice of him. He’s throwing me a bone?”
He continued: “You know that term, dag, I mentioned? A dag is a goofball in American. It’s a goof. You’re such a dag, Ryan!”
Reynolds, 42, stars as the red and black lycra-clad anti hero and his alter ego Wade Wilson in 2016’s ‘Deadpool’ and the sequel, and still believes a collaboration between the two superheroes is possible.
‘Logan’ is set years in the future from the point where ‘Deadpool 2’ takes place, and so he argued that Wolverine is still “alive and well” during the time of the ‘Deadpool’ series.
He said: “He’s alive and well in my timeline. There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that.”
But he admits the problem doesn’t lie in Wolverine’s health, but in Jackman’s willingness to don the claws for a ninth time.
He added: “I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He’s just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it.”
Jackman previously insisted he would not be returning as the ‘X-Men’ mutant, but supported the idea of someone else starring in the role alongside Reynolds.
He said: “It’s sort of out of my hands because I’m an actor who’s played Wolverine. I’m out. But if I was running the studio and someone else was playing Wolverine.”

Toni Braxton’s missing ring

OHMYGOSSIP — Toni Braxton’s engagement ring is missing.
The ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’ hitmaker is lamenting the loss of her jewellery after she left her Louis Vuitton train case on her flight from New York City to Los Angeles. And whilst she has had the case returned, her jewellery – including the ring – is missing from the bag.
She wrote on Twitter: “Hey everyone, @delta located my LV Train Case! Yay! Unfortunately most of my jewelry items are missing…including MY ENGAGEMENT RING! Whoever BORROWED it…PLEEEASE return it!!!! I promise, no questions asked! (sic)”
Toni had previously taken to Twitter to ask for help in finding the bag.
She wrote at the time: “Hey @Delta I left my LV train case on my flight from JFK to LAX on Tuesday. It’s been impossible to get any type of assistance from anyone in the company! Can someone let delta know I’m trying to get in contact w/them? I’ve tried to no avail…pls help you’re my favorite airlines (sic)”
Meanwhile, Birdman has described his fiancée Toni as his “life”.
Birdman – whose real name is Bryan Christopher Williams – said: “T, that’s my girl, my friend, my family. That’s my love, my soldier, my life. She’s my everything. She’s my life. I love her to death … For me, it was just hard to accept love from them. I think Miss E, Miss Evelyn [Toni’s mother], she’s an angel. She did a great job with all her girls. For me, just growing up in the streets, not having the word love, it was hard for me to accept them loving me and appreciating the love that I brought to the table.”

Kesha fears she’ll lose songwriting ‘power’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha worries she will lose her “magic power” for songwriting.
The ‘Praying’ hitmaker admits she is constantly fearful that she’ll lose the ability to pen a track because she can’t explain how she’s able to do it beyond music “channeling” through her.
She said: “Music is something that almost gets channelled through me. You never know if you’re going to lose it, like I’ll wake up one day and I won’t have my magic power.”
The 31-year-old singer – who spent four years out of the spotlight because of her contractual dispute with producer Dr. Luke, who she accused of being abusive – finds the writing process “cathartic” and feels “safe” because her ability to pen a song isn’t something anyone else can take away.
Speaking at The Hollywood Reporter’s Songwriter Roundtable, she said: “After I write, it feels so cathartic.
“I love knowing that as a woman I can be self-sufficient. Something nobody can ever take away from me is my ability to write. That makes me feel safe.”
Kesha recently wrote ‘Here Comes the Change’ for the soundtrack of ‘On the Basis of Sex’ – which tells the story of Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s early life – and she admitted it was a “daunting” task, made even harder by her sitting down to watch the movie, which stars Felicity Jones.
She said: “I’d never written a song for a movie before.
“So I went and saw the movie On the Basis of Sex first. [Writing the song was] kind of daunting.”
“After you watch what [Ruth Bader Ginsburg has] done for women, I felt even more overwhelmed and I was like, ‘Oh, s**t, this is a big task.”

Alicia Silverstone agrees divorce settlement

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Silverstone has reached a divorce settlement.
The ‘Clueless’ actress and Chris Jarecki – who have seven-year-old son Bear together – had appointed a private judge to help them resolve the matter as they had “all issues in dispute” and court records seen by The Blast confirmed a final judgement package was signed and entered into the divorce case on November 16.
The terms of the settlement is currently unclear, and the couple won’t be officially divorced until the agreement drawn up by the private judge is signed by the court.
The ‘American Woman’ actress – who was seeking joint custody of Bear – previously admitted her and Chris’ priority since the “heartbreaking” split is to co-parent their son.
She said: “Obviously, it’s heartbreaking. You don’t ever think you’ll be apart when you get married. All I can really say is that we’ll co-parent Bear together, and this is completely a good thing for both of us.”
And though she’s currently single, Alicia would still love to have another child one day.
She said: “I’ve always wanted another kid. But I also wanted to space them out because I love being with Bear. I have always dreamed of having a little girl, but of course I wanted another little Bear too.
“So whatever happens, if it happens, is good by me. I’m not in a relationship, but there are other ways to make babies.’ ”
And the publication noted: “Not off the table: asking Bear’s dad for an assist.”
The former couple were married for 11 years before quietly splitting two years ago, and they made their bid to divorce in May.

Anton Du Beke: Tess Daly is a delight

OHMYGOSSIP — Anton Du Beke says ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host Tess Daly is a “delight”, and isn’t “dull” like judge Craig Revel Horwood claimed.
The 52-year-old says Craig, 53, was wrong for talking out about Tess, 49, and although he accepts the dance expert is outspoken he is adamant he “should know better” than to say that about a colleague.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column, Anton said: “That’s Craig, isn’t it. I absolutely don’t think Tess is boring. Tess is a delight. He does like to run his mouth. He was teasing I think, but he should know better.”
Craig made the comment about Tess whilst on a tour to promote his new book ‘In Strictest Confidence’, complaining about the “dull questions” she asks him on the live shows.
During a Q&A in Oxford, he said: “The book is honest like me but on the telly I wear my judge’s hat. I can’t be myself. I like to joke about and do all that stuff. I might raise an eyebrow or two. In those ten or 20 seconds where I have to answer Tess’s quite dull questions actually … I tend to avoid them and not answer if I’m super honest. If there is anyone here from the press I did not say that. I am BBC. I only have 20 secs to decide what to say about the dance.”
In the same talk, Craig also mocked his fellow judge Shirley Ballas’ “bazooka boobs”.
He said: “I showed my book to the BBC and they cut one part about Shirley’s breasts. I don’t know if you want to hear it? What happened is that she came to the audition and literally had her thing open to her navel. I am not joking. Her boobs were like la bazooka things hanging out … It was not very, erm, ‘Strictly’. So they came in and sewed all that up. Then they had to push them down … and they’re fake.”

Biffy Clyro: Nick Knowles has been ‘fast and loose’ with the truth

OHMYGOSSIP — Biffy Clyro say Nick Knowles was “very nice” when they met but they denied a jamming session ever took place.
The Scottish rockers have opened up on the chance meeting after the ‘DIY SOS’ star suggested an impromptu evening with the band led to his first record deal and a move towards music.
However, drummer James Johnston told BBC Radio 1’s Greg James: “He was a nice guy! I’m not gonna say anything bad about him, Mr Nick Knowles, he was lovely.
“But I don’t think it’s quite the ‘Kum Ba Yah’ situation that everyone might have in their heads. I’m really sorry to shatter the illusion that we had a proper heavy jam with Nick Knowles, because that did not happen I’m afraid.
“It’s a half truth. We were in the same rooftop bar at the same time, and he was very nice.”
Nick – who is currently starring on reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ and released debut album ‘Every Kind Of People’ last year – told his fellow campmates that he was offered his deal with Universal after bosses heard him playing songs with the ‘Many of Horror’ stars.
He claimed: “My brother’s a really good musician and I’ve always played along with him and a couple of years ago somebody heard me, I was playing on a rooftop bar in Soho with some other bands…
“Somebody from a record company saw me doing it and I got a phone call saying, ‘I’m from Universal, want to do an album?’ ”
However, James – who is in the group with Simon Neil and brother Ben Johnston – has played down this version of events and admitted he remembers it quite differently.
He added: “He’s been a bit fast and loose with the truth there. It was more like eight years ago, and it was after an awards ceremony.
“We came back to this hotel in Soho and we’d been informed that Nick Knowles had bought us a bottle of champagne to celebrate on the roof! He was lovely, we had a drink and we left and there might have been a guitar there.”

Jessica Simpson’s kids hugged ‘every stuffed animal’ after Cali fires

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Simpson’s children hugged “every stuffed animal” they own after returning home following the California wildfires.
The fashion star – who has Maxwell, six, and Ace, five, with 39-year-old husband Eric Johnson – has revealed her kids had a cute way of showing how grateful they were when they were finally allowed back into their house.
Jessica, 38, told PEOPLE magazine: “Recently when we were evacuated from our home due to the fires in California, we came home, and Maxwell and Ace both ran to put on their favourite costume.
“[Then they] hugged each and every stuffed animal they have one by one, every time saying, ‘We are so lucky.’ ”
The fire has destroyed 13,000 homes, with 81 people dying in the blaze, and Jessica – who is pregnant with her third child – knows she and her family are lucky to still have their house.
She added: “I’d like to think Eric and I show our children gratitude through our example every day.
“I have learned that it is almost impossible to teach your kids anything you don’t live yourself. We are constantly grateful for the blessings we have been given.”
Jessica’s comments come after she had previously thanked those battling the blaze, and revealed she was sending her thoughts and prayers to everyone who had been affected by the fire.
She previously wrote on Instagram: “Praying for everyone in California affected by these terrible fires.
“We have been evacuated for almost 48hrs now and need the angels to keep surrounding our home. Thank you to the brave firefighters who have protected our home so far. (sic)”
A number of stars were evacuated from their homes this month due to the blaze, including the likes of Lady Gaga, Alyssa MIlano and the Kardashian family.
Robin Thicke’s house burned down in the fire, while Gerard Butler did what he could to help neighbours who were also affected.

Idris Elba’s daughter hasn’t seen his work

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba’s daughter hasn’t seen many of his films.
The ‘Beasts of No Nation actor’s movies weren’t suitable viewing for 16-year-old Isan – who he has with ex-wife Kim Norgaard – when she was younger and even now she hasn’t got round to checking out his extensive back catalogue of work.
Asked which of her dad’s movies is her favourite, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “Honestly, I don’t even watch many. When the older ones came out, a lot of them were PG-13 and I was like 7, so I have not even seen that many. Even though it’s not a movie, his episodes in ‘The Office’ I could watch any day.”
Idris has been tipped to be the next James Bond and his daughter – who is the 2019 Golden Globes Ambassador – thinks it would be “really cool” if he took the iconic role.
She said: “Everybody always asks me [if he’d be a good Bond]. I think it would be really cool, but it’s all him. But if he got the opportunity, he should go for it.”
Isan enjoys getting dressed up for red carpet events with her dad but admitted she snubbed Channing Tatum when they met at the Oscars because she had the opportunity to speak to Oprah Winfrey.
She said: “We were in the line to get ready for the red carpet [at the Oscars] and we were next to Oprah and Channing Tatum. That is a crazy sentence in itself.
“I was talking to Channing Tatum and he said to call him ‘Chan’, and then Oprah said, ‘Excuse me’, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re Oprah!’ So I totally cut off Channing Tatum to have a full-blown conversation with Oprah.”
But the aspiring actress is hoping to make amends with the ‘Magic Mike’ star at the Golden Globe awards.
She quipped: “I can apologise this time.”

Alan Halsall didn’t speak to Corrie co-stars ‘for about a year’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Halsall was too shy to speak to his ‘Coronation Street’ castmates for his first year on set.
The 36-year-old soap star was just 16 when he first appeared on the cobbles as mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, and he admitted it was intimidating appearing alongside the show’s biggest stars.
Reflecting on two decades on ‘Corrie’, he told Whats On TV: “It’s surreal that I’ve been here for so long.
“It’s such an odd thing – I appreciate that it’s been twenty years but I also remember my first day like it was yesterday.
“Because I was 16, I was put straight into the adult green room. It was really daunting to see these people who were all legends; I was literally terrified! I’m normally quite loud, but I don’t think I spoke for about a year!”
He settled into life on the cobbles, and he has credited late stars Bill Tarmey and Liz Dawn – who played on-screen couple Jack and Vera Duckworth – with his longevity.
He explained: “I genuinely believe that I wouldn’t be on the show now if it wasn’t for the both of them. Work-wise and in my personal life, they were real guides for me, and I owe them so much.”
Meanwhile, Alan was also asked whether he would like to last another 20 years on the soap and see his alter ego Tyrone continue his work in the garage.
He admitted: “As an actor, that’s not a decision I get to make. But I’d like to think so. Tyrone’s a home bird and he’s very settled.
“I’m very humbled to be a small part of this show, which is the biggest thing on television. If you’re enjoying a job and you get so much from it, why change?”

Among those who Nicki took a photo with was New York City Police Department’s Commanding Officer Jerry O’Sullivan.
The picture was shared on Twitter by the police department with the caption: “I think the Commanding Officer was negotiating to become Nicki minaj’s new manager. Im pulling for you Inspector. #nikiminajturkeygiveaway (sic)

The ‘Chun-Li’ hitmaker later thanked the local residents for coming out to see her.

Taron Egerton’s overloaded film schedule

OHMYGOSSIP — Taron Egerton had to “take a moment” during the filming of ‘Robin Hood’, because he was so exhausted from his work on ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’.
The 29-year-old actor wrapped filming on the 2017 ‘Kingsman’ sequel – in which he reprised his role as main character Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin – just days before the new retelling of the classic folk tale started shooting.
And his ‘Robin Hood’ co-star Jamie Foxx – who plays Robin’s mentor John alongside Taron as the titular outlaw – has said the young actor had to step back from the film set because shooting two “tough long shoots” back to back had left him exhausted.
Jamie told CinemaBlend.com: “He came from a tough, long shoot from the Kingsman[sequel], and he comes in to another tough long shoot. He had to take a moment, and we had to rally around him. I was like, ‘Hey, you know what? Take your time. Whatever you’ve got to do, we’re here for you.’
“Because we know. A lot of times, people take for granted our business, but he had a lot on his shoulders. To see him work through it, to see him push through, he had an injury, it really spoke to his character as a young guy.”
It isn’t the first time the 50-year-old Hollywood veteran has praised Taron’s work ethic either, as he previously dubbed him as one of the most talented people in the industry.
He said: “Listen, we had a great time. This man is one of the most talented people you will ever see.”
‘Robin Hood’ – which was directed by Otto Bathurst and featured Leonardo DiCaprio as a producer – was released earlier this week.
