Joe Sugg’s Strictly Come Dancing fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Sugg’s grandparents only thought he was “a big deal” when he appeared on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 27-year-old YouTube star is one of the favourites to take home this year’s prestigious Glitterball Trophy, and the vlogger has revealed his grandparents didn’t fully understand his career until he appeared in the local newspaper because of the BBC One dancing competition.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ about his grandmother being a dancer, Joe said: “She did go to Blackpool once, that’s why at the start of the show I said, ‘To be able to get to Blackpool would be really cool.’
“But she did Blackpool when she was younger and did the foxtrot so be able to do a quickstep in front of my nan at Blackpool is really cool.
“That was a big reason as to why I wanted to do it as well because they kind of understand what I do, like my granddad has Instagram and stuff, and he’s sort of aware of it, but for them if I’m in the local newspaper that’s the biggest thing, it’s a big deal.
“They understand the whole vlogging thing but for them ‘Strictly’ is like ‘yes!’ ”
The social media sensation has been romantically linked to his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell during his time on the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, but Joe distanced himself from such speculation, insisting the duo “haven’t got time” for love.
Joe added: “Do you know what, I’ve met such a good friend in Dianne and we haven’t got time to do anything like that, because there’s so many dances to learn.”

Susanna Reid celebrates 100 days of sobriety

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid is celebrating 100 days of being sober.
The 47-year-old TV presenter – who went teetotal in September in a bid to lose weight – has insisted her new alcohol-free lifestyle is fun, insisting social events can still be enjoyable without alcohol.
She tweeted today (05.12.18): “100 days without a hangover!
“Believe me, you can still have fun without alcohol, despite what your co-workers might say.”
Susanna first embraced a healthier outlook after a doctor warned her that her BMI was too high, and she first admitted she was not drinking alcohol three months ago.
After the first two weeks of abstaining from drink, she revealed to her ‘Good Morning Britain’ co-host Piers Morgan that she had lost 14lbs from simply cutting out alcoholic beverages from her diet.
The former ‘Save Money: Good Food’ host has gushed about the benefits of ditching alcohol and is happy that she no longer has to deal with heavy hangovers.
She said: “And as you get older it takes that little bit longer to get over a night out if you’ve had some drinks. I feel better.”
However, the brunette beauty admitted that cutting out booze from her “big nights out” has definitely been a change, admitting she used to love alcohol-fuelled nights of champagne or prosecco.
She added: “There is definitely a bit of a loss, because in our culture big nights out are so centred around alcohol. And I used to love a big night out.
“Sparkling water. It’s not quite the same as champagne or prosecco, is it? Nobody says, ‘It’s sparkling water o’clock.’ ”

Phillip Schofield ‘proud’ to launch StorySign app to help deaf kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield missed watching his own show to launch a new app which will help deaf children learn to read with their parents.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter and Tess Daly were among the stars at Winterland in South London on Tuesday night (04.12.18) to introduce Huawei’s StorySign app, which uses the telecommunications giant’s AI to instantly translate selected children’s books into sign language, opening up the world of books to deaf kids.
Phil admitted he is a huge fan of new technology, and was missing his latest programme, ‘How to Spend It Well at Christmas’, to launch the amazing app.
Speaking alongside Tess at the StorySign launch, he said: “We were talking earlier on. I love new tech, in fact I’m on the telly with new tech in about 20 minutes time. I’ve missed my own show!
“I love new discoveries, and I’ve been learning about the app for the past few days and learning what it can do.
“When we had our little girls one of the greatest times of the day was story time, and we would sit together, all of us, and read a book.
“I just didn’t realise that was so difficult if your child was deaf. Because it just doesn’t translate.
“You have to be much closer to the deaf community to understand something like that.
“This evening, we’ve sat with the children and their parents and watched them utterly entranced as storytime suddenly came to life in front of them.
“Their faces were so fabulous. It was utterly magical.
“This really is something really special – so we are really proud to be here today.”
Tess said: “This is such an important moment for deaf children in the UK. Learning to read is such a huge part of growing up.
“It’s amazing to be a part of helping make that a possibility for more children and bring story time to life for the whole family.”
Several other stars, such as retired rugby union pro Ben Cohen – who is profoundly deaf – and Love Island’s Jack Fincham, as well as key figures from the British Deaf Association (BDA), were also in attendance at the event.
Ben’s wife Kristina Rihanoff has admitted she is so amazed how he managed to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – where they first met – considering he couldn’t hear the music.
She wrote on Twitter: “Great app from @HuaweiMobileUK and I know how much it means to @RugbyBenCohen who’s profoundly deaf and who achieve so much in sport ! Still can’t believe he did @bbcstrictly and couldn’t even hear the music … but of course it wasn’t mentioned then …. #Huawei #MobileApp (sic)”
Pioneered by Huawei, StorySign, with the help of friendly avatar Star, uses the power of Huawei AI, to translate the featured book into perfect sign language page by page, delivering a seamless user experience.
StorySign can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store and the Huawei App gallery.
Donations can be made via the StorySign campaign hub on the Huawei website throughout December and all money raised will support deaf child literacy projects across Europe, with a percentage invested in to more books for StorySign.

Niall Horan is busy penning new songs

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan is busy writing new material.
The ‘Slow Hands’ hitmaker took to Twitter recently to let his 39.3 million followers know he’s hard at work making new songs for his follow-up to his debut solo album ‘Flicker’.
He wrote: “Exciting week ahead of writing ! (sic)”
The One Direction star recently admitted he feels like the “Benjamin Button’ of pop as his career is going in reverse.
The 25-year-old singer conquered the charts all over the world playing stadiums and arenas in all the major cities with the boyband – who are on an extended hiatus.
Since going solo, Niall has had to start again with a new style of music but he has enjoyed “going from arenas to smaller gigs” in a similar way to the literally character who ages in reverse.
He said: “It’s Benjamin Button – going from arenas to smaller gigs. I’ve got to play these places we never got to play in the band, people will have this thing where it’s like, you know … we don’t all have to be as big as Ed [Sheeran].
“It’s great to be like, on our level here, and still have these moments where you enjoy a theatre, personally I’ve been lucky enough to do the stadiums and it’s amazing, but we went straight from ‘The X Factor’ to arenas, missed out a little bit.”
The ‘On the Loose’ singer confessed that he found it “different” while touring ‘Flicker’ but ultimately enjoyed the opportunity to make the event “more about the gig than a show”.
He said: “At the start it was very different, like, smaller crew. Smaller venue. But then when you break it down, I was lucky enough in the past to do the large shows with the lights and the fireworks and the stadium audiences. And this has just been nice to make it more about the gig than a show.
“I made an album that I’ve written completely myself, and worked hard on it. We spend eight or nine months recording something like that, and then releasing it, and then getting on the road.”

Matty Healy: People my age find it quite difficult to get into The 1975

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy admits people his own age may find it “quite difficult” to get into the new The 1975 album.
The 29-year-old frontman accepts that some people find him “annoying at first” and that it can impact on their opinion of the band’s music, and he thinks that’s even more so the case with their two most recent records, ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ and 2016’s ‘I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It’.
He admitted: “Kids are very smart. People are smart. There’s so many young women who are into our band and I have learned so much from them.
“And there is quite a tight door policy on our band.
“It can be quite difficult to get into us, especially on our last two records. If you were someone like my age, because you have to like me and that takes time.
“I’m annoying at the start, because there’s so much.
“So … you have to let that happen and then you have to go ‘actually, I get this.’ But we’ll get there.”
The ‘Give Yourself A Try’ singer says The 1975 would be a punk band if it was possible.
He explained: “I like subversion of form. The same reason why I love being played on the radio next to Ariana Grande, but my lyrics being the way they are is because I could do that in punk music.
“We could have been a punk band.
“We could have been one of these bands, but I wanna actually be punk, but you can’t actually be punk in punk anymore. I wanna be punk.
“The only place to be punk is where there’s no punk…”

“The year has left everyone sick, exhausted, and so angry they’re not even talking to each other.

Piers Morgan bets Liz Jones £1k he will outlive her

OHMYGOSSIP — Piers Morgan has bet Liz Jones £1,000 that he will live longer than her.
The 53-year-old television presenter has claimed the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star has contradicted her vegan beliefs by consuming bread and eggs, and he is so sure he will outlive the 60-year-old journalist he has placed a four-figure sum on the pledge.
Piers engaged in a debate with Liz and Reverend Richard Coles about whether those who don’t eat animal products should be viewed in the same was as those who follow religion.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ – which Piers co-hosts alongside Susanna Reid – Liz argued: “It’s animals, I love animals. I believe a religion isn’t so much about a god, it’s about respecting others.”
However, Piers reputed her statement and accused her of failing her beliefs because she eats bread, which kills insects in its production.
He said: “Shouldn’t it also extend to everything that involves killing animals, including bread?”
As the conversation moved on, the journalist admitted that she eats eggs as she “knows their parents”, because she raises them herself.
Piers then joked that he enjoyed steak because he “knows a cow in London Fields”.
In a final plea, the columnist insisted that the only way the human race will be able to continue in the long-term is to stop eating meat.
She said: “What I’m saying is if you’re so concerned about the human race the only way we’re going to feed ourselves is by not eating meat.
“It’s been scientifically proven we cannot consume meat in the way we do because children are starving.”
At the end of the interview, Piers claimed he would outlive her and before standing up and making a £1,000 bet to seal the deal.

Robbie says he’ll ‘ride again’ with Take That

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams will “ride again” with Take That.
The 44-year-old pop star has revealed that he will gladly reunite with the chat-topping band – which features Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – if he’s in the same place as them during their upcoming tour.
Robbie – who performed with Take That at the gala night of ‘The Band’ musical in London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket – told Magic Radio: “As long as we stay healthy, I’m sure there’ll be another moment where we all get together.
“Maybe we can coax Jason [Orange] back, who knows? We shall have to see. But definitely, definitely in the future.
“We will all ride again.
“Next year when the boys are on tour, I’m on tour too.
“If we’re in the same place at the same time, there’s an open mic at my gig. I’m sure there’s an open mic at theirs too.”
The ‘Let me Entertain You’ singer said he would be delighted if the boys could join him on his tour next year – but only one date at British Summer Time Hyde Park has been announced so far.
He told ITV show ‘Lorraine’: “I would like to if we are in the same place, then I’m definitely in.
“I think there is a mic open for me. It’s an open invitation both ways. If I’m about I’ll be there. They are on tour when Hyde Park is happening otherwise they would be there.”
Robbie reunited with Gary, Mark and Howard for the charity gala opening night of their new musical.
A host of celebrities were in the audience for the gala performance, which was held to support the Elton John Aids Foundation and the Evening Standard’s AIDSfree appeal.

Viola Davis: I panic about not being pretty

OHMYGOSSIP — Viola Davis “panics” about not being “pretty”.
The 53-year-old actress has admitted her weight is constantly fluctuating and can leave her upset when she’s feeling “really heavy”, and says she’s “always weighing” herself to make sure she isn’t gaining too much.
She said: “Now, at 53, I’m picking out what the pieces are. Literally. For instance, just an example, I’ve gained weight. Now, listen, I’m not a skinny Minnie. I’ve never been a skinny Minnie. I’m a yo-yo dieter. I’m always weighing myself. I always go to bed in a panic that I’m really heavy, I’m not pretty, I’m not this, I’m not that.”
The ‘Fences’ actress insists she “never cared about being pretty” until she moved to LA to pursue an acting career, as she says the pressures of Hollywood have made her more conscious of her looks.
She continued: “But I don’t care about being pretty … I never cared about being pretty. I came to LA, and all of a sudden, I care about being pretty because I feel like that is my way of being accepted into a larger community, coming from poverty, coming from a past of invisibility. Now, it’s like, I don’t care about that! And once I decided I didn’t care about that, I feel pretty good! I feel pretty good! It’s lightened my load.”
And although she’s an accomplished actress – having won an Oscar, and Emmy, and two Tonys – Viola admits she isn’t “proud” of some of her earlier film roles, which she claims “keep her up” at night.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Help’ actress said: “I had the Oscar, I have two Tonys, I have the Emmy, I have a big house, and still – bam – unfulfilling. Then I realised it’s because I’m not living for significance and legacy.
“And this is a big one, and this sort of hurts a little bit: I’m finally admitting to myself that a lot of the jobs I’ve taken in the past, because I knew that they would further my career, have been things that I have not been proud of. They put more money in the bank, they raised my status, but at night they keep me up.”

Olly Alexander claims there’s ‘entrenched homophobia’ in music industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Alexander thinks there is “entrenched homophobia” throughout the music industry.
The Years and Years frontman claims that although things have improved, it will take a “radical shift” to change the attitudes of the people “in control of the funds and the labels” and get to the point where everyone is okay with “overt queerness”.
He told the Independent: “There’s entrenched homophobia behind the scenes at all levels of the music industry.
“It’s got so much better, but I think it’s gonna take a radical shift before these men who are in control of the funds and the labels and the radio stations are gonna be OK with overt queerness. They see it as turning off part of the audience.”
The synth-pop band recently released their second album, ‘Palo Santo’, which includes more unambiguously gay and overtly sexual themes.
Although the 28-year-old singer thinks that some people were “uncomfortable” with the sexual undertones, he rubbished the idea that it wasn’t family friendly.
Olly said: “There were a lot of people who were uncomfortable with how overtly sexual this album was. When we did our show for the first time we had a few comments that it wasn’t family friendly. I reject that completely.”
The group’s latest record did not replicate the overwhelming success of their debut album ‘Communion’, but the ‘If You’re Over Me’ hitmaker doesn’t blame this on homophobia.
Instead, Olly said the shift was due to how music is now being consumed.
He explained: “The music industry has changed so much, and audiences have changed the way they listen to music, so across the board, many artists haven’t been able to replicate the success they had a few years ago.
“Pop music is very trend-driven as well, and it’s very focused on hip hop now – look at Drake in the US. So, ‘pop pop’ music is definitely on the wane.”

Gwyneth Paltrow: I made yoga popular

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow claims she made yoga popular.
The 46-year-old actress documented her fascination with the physical, mental, and spiritual exercise programme when she first launched her website and lifestyle empire Goop in 2008, and has now taken credit for the rise in yoga’s popularity over the last decade.
She said: “Forgive me if this comes out wrong, but I went to do a yoga class in LA recently and the 22-year-old girl behind the counter was like, ‘Have you ever done yoga before?’ And literally I turned to my friend, and I was like, ‘[She has] this job because I’ve done yoga before.'”
The ‘Iron Man’ actress claims she was met with criticism when she first spoke about yoga on the Goop website, and says people thought she was a “crackpot” for indulging in the practice.
Speaking to WSJ magazine, she added: “That was the beginning of people thinking I was a crackpot. Like, ‘What do you mean food can affect your health, you f***ing psycho?’ I remember when I started doing yoga and people were like, ‘What is yoga? She’s a witch. She’s a freak.'”
Meanwhile, Gwyneth’s lifestyle brand continued to turn heads earlier this month when it was announced they would be launching a $4,000 “dirty weekend sex kit”, which includes a $82 massage oil and a 24-carat gold sex toy costing $3,500.
The website says the products – worth a total of almost $4,300 – are a must-have, adding: “These five clean, nontoxic essentials are virtually guaranteed to ignite and/or reenergise sexual vibes.”

Doves tease fans with ‘never say never’ to new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Doves star Jez Williams has refused to rule out the possibility of creating new music with the group.
The British rock band – which consists of Jez, Andy Williams and Jimi Goodwin – have been on a hiatus since 2010, but are headlining a Teenage Cancer Trust concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall and supporting Noel Gallagher at Manchester’s Heaton Park next year.
The band will be playing their original music at both gigs to get the “right vibe”, but Jez hasn’t ruled out the possibility of more new tunes in the future.
Speaking to Radio X’s Gordan Smart, Jez said: “At the moment we’re just in a room playing the old tunes.
“We’re hoping the waters are right, the planets are aligned and we get that right vibe and you never say never, but at the moment we’re just concentrating on playing the tunes.”
The ‘Kingdom of Rust’ hitmakers will be performing both gigs after a lengthy absence from the music scene, and have admitted they want to do “a couple of warm ups” for the Teenage Cancer Trust concert because they want it to go seamlessly.
Jez added: “I’m really wanting to hustle for a couple of warm-ups before we go into the Royal Albert Hall because, yeah, it’s going to be interesting.
“Going straight cold into that, you know what I mean, I’m going to need to take a few pairs of underpants with me!”
Noel Gallagher is set to play at Manchester’s Heaton Park for the first time since taking to the stage with Oasis in 2009.
The 51-year-old musician – who hails from Manchester – will play at the iconic open-air venue in June 2019, a decade after he last performed at the location as part of Oasis.
The homecoming concert will take place on June 7, and will be Noel’s biggest open-air gig of 2019.

Jennifer Aniston’s TV show will be ‘dense’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston’s new TV show with Reese Witherspoon will be “dense”.
The 49-year-old actress and Reese, 42, have joined forces for their new, as-yet-untitled show on Apple TV, and Jennifer has teased what fans should expect from the series.
The former ‘Friends’ star told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I just keep pinching myself, from this to that I just don’t know what to say. We started shooting about a month ago and it has been just so much fun. It is hard, it is dense, but it is so fulfilling.”
The show has been picked up for two series and a host of big-name stars have already been confirmed as guests, including the likes of Steve Carell and Billy Crudup.
As well as hosting the TV show, Jennifer is set to star in the new musical-comedy film ‘Dumplin”.
The American actress plays a mother in the upcoming Netflix movie, and she recently admitted to taking inspiration for her performance from her own real-life mother, model and actress Nancy Dow.
Jennifer – whose on-screen character is a retired beauty queen – admitted: “She was a model and she was all about presentation and what she looked like and what I looked like. I did not come out the model child she’s hoped for and it was something that really resonated with me.”
Jennifer was estranged from her mother for years before hearing she was seriously unwell in May 2016.
The duo reconnected shortly before Nancy died after suffering a stroke, but Jennifer has previously discussed their difficult relationship.
She said: “She was critical. She was very critical of me. Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I wasn’t. I never was. I honestly still don’t think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine.
“There are people in my life that are like, ‘How do you even talk to that guy?’ But what’s the point of holding on to [anger]? That’s so toxic.”

Lord Alan Sugar blames himself for Rita Simons’ I’m A Celebrity exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Lord Alan Sugar thinks he may be to blame for Rita Simons’ ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ exit.
The 71-year-old entrepreneur has made himself responsible for the former ‘EastEnders’ actress’ departure from the hit ITV show on Tuesday night (04.12.18), after some viewers only just discovered she is his niece.
He retweeted a message from Rita in which she referenced their relationship, and he wrote: “This maybe why the public voted her out. It might be my fault. (sic)”
Rita told the fact to the campmates after fellow contestant Harry Redknapp was chatting about his son Jamie and nephew Frank Lampard’s success on the football pitch.
She then said that family connections don’t lead to success in any given field and insisted that being related to her uncle Alan – meaning Lord Sugar, who has an estimated net worth of £1.4 billion – did not help her establish herself as an actor and a performer.
She explained: “It was my intention to be an actor and a performer, which is what I do, and how can Alan help me do that?”
Fans were also shocked to discover Emily Atack is related to Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, who is a cousin of her mother Kate Robbins.
Rita – who played Roxy Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ – is “really happy” to have left the jungle camp, despite just being a matter of days away from the final, because the experience was far more challenging than she had ever imagined it would be.
She said: “It was so much harder than I ever thought it would be. I am the sort of person that just goes [all in] with everything I do, I go in the deep end.
“The thing that killed me the most was the boredom when the other guys went out to do a trial and I was just sitting alone and I am no good at sitting around.”

The 31-year-old star – who is best known for appearing on ‘Made in Chelsea’ – is taking a backwards step from reality TV because he wants to concentrate on his acting career.
Speaking on ‘Jeremy Vine’, he said: “I’m quitting reality TV and I’m not going to do it anymore.
“I’m quitting reality TV. I’ve done nearly a decade of it. And I’ve loved every minute of it.
“But I’ve kind of grown into someone else.
“I trained to be an actor a long time ago and I just finished a wonder film with Isla Fisher and Steve Coogan.
“And I’ve got another project in the pipeline.
“I’ve changed everything up and I want to be an actor like I wanted to be when I went to drama school all those years ago.”
Ollie made his debut on the popular Channel 4 show in 2011, left in 2013 and then made his return in 2015 as a regular cast member.

Set in the glamorous and celebrity-filled world of luxury fashion, the story revolves around the build-up to a spectacular 60th birthday party in an exclusive hotel on the Greek island of Mykonos.
Away from the cameras, the star is currently planning his wedding to his commercial director fiance Gareth Locke.
The pair will take each other’s namesake surname to become “Locke-Locke” after they marry.

Paula Lane embarks on social media break for family time

OHMYGOSSIP — Paula Lane is embarking on a social media break so she can spend more time with her kids.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who has son Arthur, three, and two-year-old daughter Penny, with her husband Tom Shaw – has vowed to stay away from Twitter for a short period of time, so she can have some quality time with the youngsters.
The ‘Kinky Boots’ star tweeted: “Taking a little mini break from my social media now as I’m officially on a holiday and desperate to give my children the undivided attention they deserve. See you next week! (sic)”
Since departing ‘Corrie’ – in which she portrayed Kylie Platt – in 2016, Paula has treaded the boards in play ‘The Bengal Lily’ and ‘Be More Martyn’, a production about Martyn Hett, one of the soap’s biggest supporters who was tragically killed in the Manchester Arena bombing last year.
In August, the star admitted she “doesn’t really think about” ‘Coronation Street’ anymore because there is “too much going on” in her life.
She said: “I’m moving into a completely new world. I don’t really think about it anymore, to be honest, there’s just too much going on.
“And that’s a lovely thing, don’t get me wrong.
“When I left, I really mourned that part, it was like a process I had to go through as an actress.
“I’d been playing her for so long and I loved my fellow cast members dearly and I genuinely mean that.”
Last month, Paula admitted she was grateful to ‘Corrie’ for giving her the “building blocks” to “create her career”.
She said: “Life is wonderful. Family is the most important thing to me. Corrie was a rollercoaster and it’s given me the building blocks to create my career.
“My last role as Rachel in #BeMoreMartyn was equally as special – a true life lesson in believing you can achieve anything if you work hard enough. I find it fascinating that both my roles post-Corrie ring out the message, ‘Just be who you want to be’.”
