X-Men and Deadpool ‘to be seen in Marvel Cinematic Universe’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X-Men’ and ‘Deadpool’ will soon be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo.
The brothers – who helmed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ – are confident that some of the biggest movies and stories in the superhero universe will soon overlap.
Speaking about the possibility, Joe told Deadline: “I’m sure of it. The acquisition of Fox is showing us where the future of the business is going to go.”
The cross-pollination of different movie franchises and characters is seen as one of the key features of the Disney-Fox merger.
Anthony also revealed that Disney – which is known for its happily-ever-after approach to filmmaking – didn’t attempt to block their efforts to develop unconventional storylines during the making of ‘Infinity War’.
He shared: “The only way to drive a conversation is to surprise people. If you’re constantly adhering to convention, you’re not going to surprise people.”
Despite this, Joe feels that the movie industry stands on the cusp of a significant change, suggesting that the length of films could well become significantly shorter over the coming years.
The director – who also helmed ‘Captain America: Civil War’ alongside his brother – explained: “The two-hour film has had a great run over 100 years.
“But it’s become very difficult to work in … I’m not sure that the generation that’s coming up will see the two-hour film as the dominant form of storytelling.”

Margot Robbie reveals inspiration for Birds of Prey title

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie thinks the title of ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabuous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’ reflects the movie’s playful tone.
The 28-year-old actress has reprised the role of Harley for the upcoming superhero movie, and Margot has now revealed the reason behind the film’s unusually lengthy title.
She shared: “It’s not gonna be … it’s not a very serious movie, so we thought the title should reflect that. ‘Birds of Prey’ makes it sound very serious, and then that, you know, that’s kinda like Harley adding her, like, ‘Hey, I’m in this too.'”
Margot revealed the title was inspired by her love of the comedy film ‘The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared’, which is based on a comic novel by Jonas Jonasson.
The actress told ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’: “I love a long title.
“Actually, I said that when we were thinking of the title. I said ‘You know what? You know what’s a great title? Did you ever see ‘The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared?” Long title, but I love it. It’s a great movie, as well. You should watch it.”
Meanwhile, Margot recently admitted she felt “embarrassed shooting her most raunchy scene in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
The Australian actress rose to worldwide attention on the back of her starring role in the Martin Scorsese-directed drama, but Margot confessed to feeling “very weird” during the scene in which she had to seduce her on-screen husband, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
She said: “It doesn’t come across when you’re watching the movie, but in reality we’re in a tiny bedroom with 30 crew crammed in. All men.
“For 17 hours I’m pretending to be touching myself. It’s just a very weird thing and you have to bury the embarrassment and the absurdity, really deep, and fully commit.”

Andy Serkis: Awards don’t motivate me

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Serkis isn’t motivated by accolades.
The 54-year-old actor – who stars in and directed the new ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’ – has insisted he doesn’t feel motivated by the thought of winning awards and is instead simply determined to make the best movies he possibly can.
He shared: “We don’t make films to win awards, it’s very lovely if it comes along.
“But for me the reward is fulfilling a vision and being in a privileged position to make a film like this where you’re going to be sharing it with an audience and hopefully in some small way, changing the perception of humanity.”
Andy admitted to appreciating the recognition that has come his way over the years, but the British actor – who has starred in a host of hit film, including the ‘Lord of the Rings’ and the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchises – claimed he doesn’t harbour any award-winning ambitions.
Speaking at the premiere of ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’ in London on Tuesday (04.12.18), Andy told the Metro: “It’s lovely when you get an accolade but it really isn’t the ambition of what you set out to do, so if it comes along then great but if not then it doesn’t bother me.”
In 2012, James Franco called for Andy to receive an Oscar nomination.
At the time, he said: “Andy Serkis is the undisputed master of the newest kind of acting called performance capture, and it is time that Serkis gets credit for the innovative artist that he is.”

Penelope Cruz joins up with PETA to spread anti-fur message

OHMYGOSSIP — Penelope Cruz has teamed up PETA to front a new anti-fur campaign.
The 44-year-old actress has teamed up with the animal rights organisation – known as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – for a second time to highlight the cruel way that fur is obtained from animals.
Cruz – who first partnered with PETA in 2012 – appears in an advertising campaign in which she is seen holding a cat alongside the message “Make Us Purr, Don’t Wear Fur”.
Speaking about her ultimate ambition for the project and PETA’s work, the ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ star said: “Finally, so many designers are going fur-free, and I’m looking forward to the day when no animal is caged or trapped and killed for fur.”
PETA latest campaign comes in a year when labels such as Burberry, Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Gucci, Versace, Stella McCartney and Michael Kors have all banned the use of real animal fur in their products.
Announcing that the company is ditching fur, Ralph Lauren said in a statement: “Fur has never been an integral part of our design strategy as we had only used it on a limited basis as an accent in some collections. We are publicly announcing this decision because the use of fur has been under review internally and we feel that the time is right to take this action.”
Cruz is just one of many A-list stars, including Pamela Anderson, Charlize Theron and Pink, who have joined forces with PETA to call for the end of the fur industry.
The Oscar winner has always been an outspoken advocate of animal rights and she and her husband Javier Bardem have given a home to many rescue cats and dogs.

Chrissy Teigen buys a bag for John for Christmas

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen’s go-to Christmas gift for John Legend is a Tom Ford “man bag”.
The 33-year-old model claims that she and her husband John, 39, are “very homey people” and like to give each other simple presents and one of the ‘All Of Me’ hitmaker’s festive favorites is to find a new Tom Ford Buckley briefcase – which retails at over $3,000 – under the tree.
Chrissy likes to get her spouse the latest design because they are great quality luggage and “get better with age”.
In an interview with InStyle, she said: “We’re very homey people. It’s either cooking stuff, cozy stuff, or the man-bag. It’s the one with the chunky zipper, and every year they do it in a different colour or a different fabric. The suede ones are so, so beautiful and they last forever and get better with age. The dustier and more scratched they get, the cooler they get.
“I always appreciate that in a gift. And their backpacks are amazing, too. That’s like usually the only thing he gets for his birthday, and then Christmas is a lot of little things. He just loves a crew neck tee. He’s a simple dude.”
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ host also confessed that her partner – who she has daughter Luna, two and six-month-old son Miles with – is difficult to shop for as he has “no true interests” other than his career and has a birthday on the 28th of December, very close to Christmas Day.
She said: “The poor guy gets rolled into that whole birthday/Christmas thing. He doesn’t have any true interests. It’s not like he’s a sports guy; he’s one of those guys who likes every team; they all deserve to win! He’s tough.”
As well as the luxury designer bag, every year Chrissy treats John to a “computer bag” to manage his items while travelling.
She said: “Every year I get him what we call a computer bag, but that sounds so nerdy, it’s like a man-bag, computer-bag thing.
“So it’s usually some kind of leather tote that he can fit his laptop in with all the cords, the watch box, and his passport.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Weisz doesn’t want any more children.
The 48-year-old actress – who has been married to Daniel Craig since 2011 – gave birth to their daughter in September, but she thinks she has hit a point where she shouldn’t be planning to have any more kids.
Rachel – who also has a 12-year-old son called Henry with her ex-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I definitely know there won’t be another one. When I had my son I thought I’d have maybe two or three more.
“But the preciousness of a new life and family means so much more now I’m more mature and older.
“My son was a miracle and it was an incredible experience … but doing it again now I’m older is very deep and very precious. I am very lucky.”
The couple have made a conscious effort to remain right-lipped about their private life, and have not even revealed their daughter’s name.
However, Rachel has opened up about her parenting style and admitted she has a relaxed attitude with her kids.
She shared: “I’m a bit of a pushover as a mother. I’m not super-strict. I love it so I’m a very happy mother.”

The actress said: “She does look very like him. She really does.”
Prior to that, the Hollywood star admitted that she and Daniel – who also has a 26-year-old daughter called Ella from his first marriage to Fiona Loudon – waited until their daughter was born to find out the sex of their child.
Speaking about her pregnancy, Rachel said: “We’re having to buy all the gear again, although friends have lent us some great unisex baby-gros – we don’t know what the sex is.”

Ollie Locke slams Jesy Nelson’s ‘childish’ tattoo

OHMYGOSSIP — Ollie Locke thinks Jesy Nelson’s new gun tattoo is “absurd”.
The 31-year-old reality star claimed the 27-year-old Little Mix singer is “childish” for opting to have the controversial body art, with Ollie insisting the pop star should have thought about the implications of getting the tattoo because of her influence over young people.
Speaking on ‘Jeremy Vine On 5’, Ollie said: “This is just a childish thing for one of the biggest musicians in the world to do. Someone needs to think and say ‘Come on, obviously this is not something you do.’ It’s absurd.
“They’re nice girls, and obviously they’ve not spoken to the press yet and it may mean something incredibly important to her…”
The gun tattoo was unveiled on Instagram yesterday evening (04.12.18) in a post that has since been deleted.
At the time, Jesy wrote: “Thank you @zayahastra for always giving me my favourite little tattoos (sic)”
Meanwhile, the ‘Black Magic’ pop star – who features in the chart-topping girl group alongside Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – recently split from boyfriend Harry James.
Jesy and Harry are believed to have called time on their romance because the ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ hitmaker is “focused” on her career and feels it “makes sense” for them to be apart at the moment.
A source said: “Jesy and Harry enjoyed their time together but have decided to call it a day.
“There are no hard feelings between them and they remain good friends – just at the moment it makes sense for them to separate.
“Jesy is in work mode ahead of the release of Little Mix’s new album ‘LM5’ and she’s happy focusing on performances with the girls and promoting their material.”

Although Stacey can’t wait to spend the holiday cosying up with the 36-year-old presenter she has admitted that the first time the pair kissed was less than romantic.
Stacey – who appeared alongside him on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ spin-off ‘Extra Camp’ in 2016 – previously said: “My first kiss with Joe was really awkward. I love kissing Joe and since then it’s been wonderful, but the first one was horrid! He basically helped me get all my bags ready to leave the jungle, left my room, and the knocked back on the door and just ran over and kissed me. I had no idea that that was about to happen and just … I didn’t know what to do.”

Alongside a photograph of his baby snuggled up in a papoose, David wrote: “Daddy, Dora and new addition Matilda out for our first dog walk together this morning. The catwalk hunk – who has been dating Stephanie for two years – admitted they were determined to keep the sex of their baby a secret.

Emily Blunt says Julie Andrews was ‘supportive’ of Mary Poppins role

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt says Dame Julie Andrews was “incredibly supportive” of her playing the titular role in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’.
The 35-year-old actress has put her own spin on the iconic nanny role – which was first portrayed by the 83-year-old star in the Disney 1964 classic – in the new movie and Emily has revealed Andrews was “excited” for her to play the magical character, but chose not be in the reboot because she didn’t want to take the limelight from her.
Speaking to Hugh Jackman for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’, Emily said: “I met her years ago at some event. And she was so charming and so lovely. Little did I know that years later I would be off playing Mary Poppins. But Rob [Marshall, the director] was very close with her; she was incredibly supportive of me playing the part and excited for me to do it.
“There was discussion about [how] maybe she would come and do a bit in the movie. She said to Rob, ‘This is Emily’s version of her, and I don’t want it to be that she’s playing Mary Poppins the whole way through, but then I come in like, Oh, but there’s the real Mary Poppins.’
“She didn’t want that for me, which I thought was incredibly gracious. I hope she’ll come to the premiere.”
The English beauty also confessed that she “scream cried” when she first saw the film and admitted she was “proud” to be cast in the Disney flick and play such an iconic role.
Emily added: “I sort of ‘scream cried’ after watching it. It was completely overwhelming. And I’m really not one of these people that’s like, ‘You should see my movie.’
“I’ve never been. It is still tricky to watch stuff that you do. I tend to pick it apart a bit. But I watched it completely alone, and I was so proud to be in it.”

Miley Cyrus’ guitars stolen in storage unit raid

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus has had $10,000 worth of guitars stolen by burglars who raided her storage unit.
According to TMZ, the 26-year-old singer’s storage unit in the San Fernando Valley was broken into and criminals made off with the instruments which were worth thousands of dollars.
It is unclear how thieves gained access to the unit, however, the heist reportedly went unnoticed as the ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker assumed family members had borrowed the instruments and its thought that the actual crime occurred at some point in October.
The bad news comes after the ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ hitmaker and her fiancé Liam Hemsworth were among the thousands of people forced to evacuate their homes after the devastating Woolsey Fire tore through the Malibu and Calabasas area last month.
The couple’s Malibu property was destroyed in the blaze and Miley has admitted she is still coming to terms with what happened.
She previously said: “Honestly, I’m in a really good kind of healing place right now. I’ve definitely learned a lot.”
The ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’ singer says the wildfire invoked a “deep character challenge” and made her realise what her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, meant when he told her that “life is a series of adjustments”.
She explained: “My dad has always told me, ‘Life is a series of adjustments.’ And sometimes we never understand what our parents are telling us until we start to experience life more because they learn those things as they go. So I’m starting to really understand what that means now. I think experiencing something as life-changing and devastating as a natural disaster, it’s a really deep character challenge, I think, to see the way you react to loss.”

Lena Dunham regrets defending Girls writer over rape allegations

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Dunham believes she made a “terrible mistake” in defending ‘Girls’ writer Murray Miller when he was accused of rape last year.
The 32-year-old actress and ‘Girls’ creator publicly spoke in defence of Murray last year when Aurora Perrineau alleged he had raped her in 2012 when she was 17 and he was 35, but has now said she “regrets” the decision, which she described as “inexcusable”.
In an open letter published by The Hollywood Reporter, she wrote: “I made a terrible mistake. When someone I knew, someone I had loved as a brother, was accused, I did something inexcusable: I publicly spoke up in his defense. There are few acts I could ever regret more in this life.
“I didn’t have the ‘insider information’ I claimed but rather blind faith in a story that kept slipping and changing and revealed itself to mean nothing at all. I wanted to feel my workplace and my world were safe, untouched by the outside world (a privilege in and of itself, the privilege of ignoring what hasn’t hurt you) and I claimed that safety at cost to someone else, someone very special.”
Lena went on to speak directly to Aurora, and said she was working to “right that wrong” she believes she committed by defending Murray.
She continued: “To Aurora: You have been on my mind and in my heart every day this year. I love you. I will always love you. I will always work to right that wrong. In that way, you have made me a better woman and a better feminist. You shouldn’t have been given that job in addition to your other burdens, but here we are, and here I am asking: How do we move forward? Not just you and I but all of us, living in the gray space between admission and vindication.
“It’s painful to realize that, while I thought I was self-aware, I had actually internalized the dominant male agenda that asks us to defend it no matter what, protect it no matter what, baby it no matter what. Something in me still feels compelled to do that job: to please, to tidy up, to shopkeep. My job now is to excavate that part of myself and to create a new cavern inside me where a candle stays lit, always safely lit, and illuminates the wall behind it where these words are written: I see you, Aurora. I hear you, Aurora. I believe you, Aurora.”
The actress closed out her letter by apologising, and said it is important to “listen” to the women “moving forward from trauma”.
She wrote: “I’m sorry. Moving forward from trauma is never easy, but there are brave women doing it for us. All we have to do is listen.
“Love and more of that, Lena.”

Brie Larson saddened by ‘segregated’ movie business

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson is saddened to think Hollywood has been “segregated” for so long.
The 29-year-old actress stars alongside Michael B. Jordan in the upcoming biographical drama ‘Just Mercy’ – which is the first Warner Bros. film to come with a so-called inclusion rider – and Brie has spoken about the difficulties of implementing the policy, which is designed to increase diversity among the cast and crew.
She explained: “When it came time to implement it, Warner Bros. wasn’t quite [comfortable with] an actor implementing it. So Michael worked with them [as an executive producer].
“‘Just Mercy’ filmed in Atlanta, so they were able to pull from a certain talent pool there, but I also think they had to fly in certain people in order to meet the quota they were committed to.”
Brie relished the experience of making the movie, which is set for release in 2020.
However, the shoot also led her to reflect on the lack of diversity in the film industry more broadly.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “The movie was made with more than 70 percent people of colour, and it was the best experience I’ve ever had. It was the first time in my career that I had hair, make-up and wardrobe crew that were all people of colour. I’ve been in the Screen Actors Guild since I was seven years old.
“Twenty years I’ve been surrounded by white people. It saddens me to recognise that we’ve been segregated in this way within our industry.”
But Brie intends to encourage greater diversity moving forwards, revealing how she’ll approach the issue ahead of the release of ‘Captain Marvel’ next year.
The actress – who plays the iconic superhero in the upcoming movie – said: “On the ‘Captain Marvel’ press tour, I’ll be pushing for representation across the board: my interviews, magazine covers, the clothes that I’m wearing. It means spending more time thinking about things than you sometimes want to, but it’s worth it.”
