New Prince film will not be a biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince’s music is going to be used to create a new movie.
Universal Pictures – who have found great success in musically-inspired films including franchises such as ‘Mamma Mia!’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’ – has acquired the rights to a number of classic Prince songs and are developing an original film musical that insiders say will not be a biopic, but an original story with Prince’s classic songs driving the plotline.
According to Variety, sources close to the project claim that Universal will not be taking the biopic angle as it has already been covered to a degree by Prince’s 1984 film ‘Purple Rain’.
Now, meetings have begun with potential writers, producers and executives who are hoping the film can be an original story where Prince’s beloved hits drive the narrative – much like the style of ‘Mamma Mia!’.
Troy Carter – the entertainment adviser of Prince’s estate – will executive produce alongside Jody Gerson, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group, the exclusive worldwide publishing administrator for Prince’s catalog.
President of Global Film Music and Publishing for Universal Pictures Mike Knobloch is playing a key role in the project for the studio. Universal’s Vice President of Production Sara Scott and Creative Executive Mika Pryce will oversee development on behalf of the studio.
Prince – who was one of the best-selling artists ever – sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
He won eight Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award for the 1984 film Purple Rain.
Tragically the musician – whose career spanned six decades – died aged 57 in 2016 in Minnesota due to an accidental drug overdose.

Dua Lipa doesn’t believe in ‘man-hating’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa doesn’t think feminism is about “man-hating”.
The 23-year-old singer thinks that gender equality means “women deserve the same opportunities” as men and believes that some people disregard the stories of important men simply because they are men.
In an interview with British Vogue, she said: “Feminism to me is not man-hating; it’s just being like ‘we deserve the same opportunities’.
“You hear so much about all these strong important men who have changed the world, even in history and the story of mankind, somehow the f***ing story starts with, ‘Well, the man did this.’ ”
The ‘One Kiss’ hitmaker also discussed her body image and insisted that although she’s “confident in her body” she tries to tell herself two positive things about her appearance every day.
She said: “I do feel quite confident in my body, there’s always going to be something you don’t like, but it’s so much healthier to tell yourself two things you like about yourself every day.
‘I go, ‘You know what, my skin’s looking great, I’m not going to put any make-up on,’ rather than, ‘Oh God, you’ve had pasta every night this week.’ ”
Although the ‘New Rules’ singer believes that important male stories should not be erased, she has previously confessed that in her opinion misogyny runs “deep” in the music industry.
She said: “Misogyny can run so deep.
“The second a guy sings, ‘I’m heartbroken,’ everyone is like, ‘Poor him!’ The second a girl says something empowering or ‘I don’t even care about this person anymore,’ it’s ‘You’re a b***h!’ Hopefully, that will change.
“I was like, ‘You don’t even know the real story.’ But you just can’t win, so that’s not gonna stop me from being honest in my music.”

Kanye West’s telemarking past

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West used to be a telemarketer.

Asked if she speaks to telemarketers, she told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel: “All the time. [But] I block them. I think Kanye [West] used to be a telemarketer, so I try to be nice.”
Jimmy replied: “Nobody likes them – but one of them came out of it and got pretty famous.”
Kim agreed: “You never know who’s calling.”
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star – who has children North, five, and Saint, two, with Kanye – also admitted during a pre-taped game of ‘3 Ridiculous Questions’ that she wouldn’t be surprised if her oldest sister, Kourtney Kardashian took legal action against her.
Asked which of her siblings would be most likely to sue her, she said: “Kourtney. She is ruthless.”
Jimmy then asked: “Has she ever threatened legal action against you?”
Referring to her online game ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood’, she replied: “Maybe as a joke, When I used her character in a video game. I paid her still, but yeah, she wanted more.”
The 38-year-old beauty – who is known for her love of selfies and even released a book collection of her favourites, entitled ‘Selfish’ – also pondered Instagram posts that have no likes.
Asked if a selfie is taken but no one likes it, does that still make it a selfie, she replied: “Absolutely. I mean, that hasn’t happened to me so I have no real connection to that, but I do believe that it still is a selfie.”

He said: “We’re very close. We should be able to be pregnant within the next month, I’d say.”
The couple, who wed in 2014, are already planning their future tot’s nursery by “expanding” their home, including purchasing plenty of art for the walls.
Lance added to People magazine: “Right now, we’re about to expand on our house because we are starting the baby thing … We keep buying art already.
“We’re not even pregnant yet, and we keep seeing things and saying, ‘It’s perfect for the nursery that we do not have.’
“So tons of art for the wall. I don’t know how we’re going to fit it all in there, but yeah, we keep buying things for the kid.”
Meanwhile, the 39-year-old musician recently claimed that he and Michael’s experience in renovating their own home has made him passionate about bagging his own home improvement show in the future.
He said: “I’ve renovated several homes. If I had my own renovation show, I would include my husband a lot because he is an amazing interior designer and artist, so I think his vision would be beautiful.
“We haven’t started one yet, but we are in the market for a Palm Springs place to flip just because I think it would be so much fun to work with the aesthetic. The era of the ’50s and the ’70s – that would be really fun for us to play with.”

Ryan Reynolds has improved with kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds thinks being a father has made him a “better person”.
The ‘Deadpool’ actor has daughters James, three, and two-year-old Ines with wife Blake Lively and though he admits having two kids is a “challenge”, he wouldn’t change a thing about his home life.
He gushed on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’: “I love it. It’s really kind of made me a better person, I think. I sort of miss being horrible.
“It’s hard. It’s always a challenge, two kids. I think of blinking right now as tiny little breaks all day, but it’s the dream. It’s the best, they’re my buddies. I love it.”
The 42-year-old actor had a terrible haircut at a mall while filming his latest movie, ‘6 Underground’, in the ‘Middle East’ and claimed his daughter was “upset” by his changed appearance.
He said: “It looked like somebody had cut my hair with a loofa, like they’d just kind of a rubbed it off or used a hammer. My daughter was upset.”
Ellen asked: “And Blake I’m sure? Because she just married you for your looks I’m sure.”
Her guest agreed: “One hundred percent. She didn’t marry me for my Stanislavsky Method.”
Ryan also joked he and his 31-year-old wife had only ever had sex when they conceived their daughters.
He said of his kids: “That happened from sex, just FYI.”
Ellen joked: “So you’ve only had sex the twice?”
Ryan replied: “Just the two times. It’s a mercenary job, hoping for a third soon.”
But when the audience cheered as they thought the ‘Green Lantern’ actor was implying the couple were planning a third baby, he quickly put things straight.
He said: “No… They say you need to do 10,000 hours of anything you want to be an expert at.”

Willow Smith needed to ‘forgive’ parents after early fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Willow Smith had to learn how to “forgive” her parents after her early success with ‘Whip My Hair’.
The 18-year-old daughter of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith released the smash hit single in 2010 when she was just 10 years old, and has said she had a complicated relationship with her parents after reaching stardom, because she felt like “no-one cared” about her feelings.
Speaking on her mother’s Facebook Watch show ‘Red Table Talk’, Willow said: “I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing. It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times. It was a couple of years, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was being listened to or like no one cared how I felt.
“And I had to forgive myself because I felt guilty because everyone is trying to make me better, trying to make my dream. But I didn’t really understand what my dream entailed.”
Earlier this year, Willow admitted to self-harming during the height of the single’s chart success.
She said: “It was after that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing and I had just stopped doing singing lessons and I was kind of just in this grey area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?’
“After the tour and the promotion and all of that, they wanted me to finish my album. And I was like, I’m not gonna do that. And after all of that kinda settled down and it was like a kind of lull, I was just listening to a lot of dark music. It was just so crazy and I was plunged into this black hole, and I was cutting myself.”
Jada, 47, was left shocked by the news, as she asked her daughter: “What? When were you cutting yourself? I didn’t see that part. Cutting yourself where?”
To which Willow responded: “On my wrist. I mean, you can’t even see it but there’s still a little something there. But like, totally lost my sanity for a moment there. I never talk about it because it was such a short weird point in my life. But you have to pull yourself out of it.”

Gwen Stefani thinks Blake Shelton is ‘sexier’ without title

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani thinks Blake Shelton got “sexier” after losing his Sexiest Man Alive title.
The 42-year-old country singer was given the honour by People magazine in 2017 but it was recently handed over to Idris Elba and his No Doubt 49-year-old girlfriend joked the loss of the accolade has been “hard” to deal with.
She said: “Yeah, that was hard. It was hard on me because it made me feel…”
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres interrupted: “Where’s the sexy?”
Gwen agreed and said: “Exactly… [No], honestly, he got sexier.”
The blonde beauty then got flustered and let slip an accidental innuendo when Ellen continued to quiz her about the more intimate parts of her relationship.
The 60-year-old presenter asked: “When the title came upon him, did you notice that he became better in bed?”
Gwen replied: “Oh my God, I feel like she needs to try and take it to the next level every time I come with Blake… Oh my God! I can’t believe I just said that. That was so crazy.”
Ellen replied: “What? It’s a yes or no answer.”
Gwen then asked for the “next question”, prompting Ellen to try and get the ‘Hollaback Girl’ singer to admit she and ‘The Voice’ coach were engaged by claiming he had already confided in her about it.
Her guest replied: “No he didn’t! No we’re not! What are you talking about? We’re not! We’re not engaged and we’re not married. And he’s my boyfriend. Still.”
Ellen then suggested Gwen – who has sons Kingston, 12, Zuma, 10, and four-year-old Apollo with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale – should pop the question instead.
She replied: “Every time I come here I think it’s going to be so ‘I got this,’ you know?”
Meanwhile, Blake recently admitted he felt “sexy ended” when he gave up his title.
He said: “Can I be honest? I feel like when I gave up my crown, sexy ended.
“It just ended in the world. So until I get it back, it doesn’t exist anymore.
“I’m sure this new guy is a nice guy. He’s a great guy. I mean, I don’t see it myself. I’m really the only person I’ve ever seen it with, but…”

Rita Simons booted from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Simons has left ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
The 41-year-old actress – who is best known for her roles as Roxy Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ – became the fourth celebrity to be booted from the ITV reality show on Tuesday (04.12.18) after losing out on the public vote.
Rita joins TV legend Noel Edmonds, ‘Hollyoaks’ star Malique Thompson-Dwyer, and ‘Coronation Street’ actress Sair Khan in leaving the infamous camp, after the public began voting for who they want to save at the end of last week.
Just before leaving the show, Rita was able to hear from her mother as the camp mates took part in a game to win letters from home, with Rita’s note explaining how “proud” her mother is of her achievements.
Nick Knowles read out Rita’s letter, which read: “I never doubted that you would grab this challenge by the horns and give it everything you’ve got, and even though I know what you’re capable of, I’m still amazed by what you’ve coped with. I’m SO proud of you and you are an inspiration to your children.
”I love how Noel and Harry said that they’re scared of you – Harry even said that any critters you come up against would run away from you! By the way, I’d pay attention to what he says if I were you – his tactical skills are legendary and you never know when they might come in useful.
”Everybody at home is cheering you on and behind you all the way. Can’t wait to give you a big hug (after you’ve had a bath of course!)”
But Rita was left unable to take part in the game – which saw the camp mates use just their fingertips to pass eggs along a chicken coop and into a basket at the other end – herself, after she was taken ill shortly before the game began.
After being voted off, she explained to hosts Holly Willoughby and Dec Donnelly that she had ” a mini hypoglycaemic episode” the night before, which is triggered by low blood sugar.
Meanwhile, the actress took part in the Bush Tucker Trial which was aired on Monday’s (03.12.18) show alongside The Vamps musician James McVey, and together they had bagged eight out of a possible nine stars for camp.

Louisa Clein defends ‘important’ Emmerdale plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Louisa Clein insists Emmerdale’s teacher/pupil abuse storyline is “important” to tell.
The 39-year-old actress’ character, history teacher Maya Stepney, shared a smooch with 15-year-old school pupil Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) on last night’s (03.12.18) episode, sparking some online backlash.
But she has defended the plot, admitting she hopes the storyline will help at least one person who has been affected by a similar situation in real life.
She tweeted: “It is such an important story to tell, however uncomfortable the viewing may be.
“If it can help one person, then our job is done. There are many places to turn to if you have been affected by this storyline. #bernados #emmerdale (sic)”
Louisa, Joe-Warren, and Matthew Wolfenden, who plays Jacob’s step-dad and Maya’s boyfriend David Metcalfe, have teamed up with Barnardo’s, who advised them about the hard-hitting plot.
And the former ‘Judge John Deed’ star admits it was “extraordinary” working with the children’s charity.
She wrote on Twitter: “This was an essential and extraordinary meeting.”
The trio met with experts and young men, to help them to better understand how their characters would behave and what they would feel.
The youngsters have been supported by a project called Better Futures Cymru, which provides therapeutic services for children and young people from across Wales with sexualised histories, including young people who have been the victims of sexual abuse or child sexual exploitation.
‘Emmerdale’ producer Laura Shaw said: “It was important for us to tell this storyline authentically, so we approached Barnardo’s for advice on scripts and character behaviour.
“Our researchers, story team- along with actors Louisa, Matthew and Joe-Warren – met with Barnardo’s experts and young men who have been supported by the charity.
“We met some incredible individuals and were moved by their courage and willingness to help us tell this story sensitively.
“Hopefully it will make young people and their parents more aware of these issues and their impact.”

Gwyneth Paltrow adjusting to stepmotherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow “doesn’t know” how to be a stepmother.
The ‘Iron Man’ actress married producer Brad Falchuk – who has teenagers Brody and Isabella with ex-wife Suzanne Bukinik – in September but they have yet to merge their households and are still getting to grips with being a blended family.
Gwyneth – who has Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, with ex-husband Chris Martin – told WSJ magazine: “We are still doing it in our own way. With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing. I’ve never been a stepmother before. I don’t know how to do it.”
But the 46-year-old star admitted her second marriage is “fantastic” and she feels she was in a better position to find her “life partner” than when she married the Coldplay frontman in December 2003.
She said: “It’s fantastic. I feel like we are probably better equipped to choose our life partner when we are halfway through life. But generally, we have to pick our spouses a lot earlier because of the whole procreation piece.
“For me it has been more of a process, and so I feel really lucky to have met this person who is an incredible, true partner.”
The Goop founder also claimed she and her friend Cameron Diaz “cry with gratitude” that paparazzi culture didn’t exist when they were younger, and she’s thankful she was able to go about her business without being bothered after her high-profile break-up from Brad Pitt in 1997.
She said: “Cameron Diaz and I talk about this all the time. We’re like, ‘Thank God in the early ’90s there were [so few] paparazzi. Thank God.’ We cry in gratitude that no one was following us around and seeing what we were doing.
“I remember when Brad Pitt and I broke up, it was on the cover of the New York Post and there was no one outside my house. That would never happen today.”

Nick added: “The emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me. You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional.”
The 36-year-old actress insisted she never had a “plan” for how she wanted her wedding to look but it “melted [her] heart” when Nick suggested two ceremonies in India to celebrate their different backgrounds.
She told People magazine: “Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day. But I never had a plan about what I wanted it to be.
“It melted my heart. Being able to have two big weddings, in India, with our closest family and friends was unbelievably special.”
And the couple are proud their wedding was a “religious mash-up” of “beautiful” traditions from their respective backgrounds.
The ‘Baywatch’ star said: “I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up.
“We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalised them in a way that made sense for us. It’s been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way.”

The 53-year-old radio presenter hates the pressure of the festive season and instead prefers to spend a couple of weeks away from home on a fishing trip, meaning he will not be with his significant other, Amelia Wright.
In a guest column in this week’s Closer magazine, he wrote: “The meaning of Christmas may be about spending time with loved ones, but I have to admit I always spend the day on my own.
“I hate the stress of it and the pressure to spend so much money on presents and food. So I take myself off somewhere for two weeks, fishing, without any friends or family.
“I’ve always been a loner and benefit a lot from my own company.
“I also haven’t bought a Christmas card or present for about 11 years.
“My wife Amelia is pregnant with our-much-longed-for first child – due on Valentine’s Day – but I’m still going to go away for a few weeks on my own.”

Brian May’s rocking manicure

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian May gets a powder gel manicure at his local nail salon to strengthen his fingernails so he can play guitar on stage with Queen.
The 71-year-old guitarist relies on acrylic nails to protect his hard-worn finger tips when he’s hammering the fret board of his instrument and he admits the beauty treatment has “changed his life” on tour and would recommend them to “any guitarist”.
Speaking to The Daily Mail newspaper, he said: “These days I’m dependent on powder gel. My fingernails don’t hold up to the guitar playing. In fact, these nail coverings have really changed my life on tour. I recommend them to any guitarist. They’re hard as iron. When the coverings finally fall off about two months later your nails are in a hopeless state. So back to the salon you go.”
Following the release of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – the critically acclaimed biopic about the British rock band and their iconic singer Freddie Mercury – Queen announced they are embarking on a North American tour during the summer of 2019 with singer Adam Lambert.
The group will perform 23 shows in the United States and Canada next July and August for their ‘Rhapsody Tour’.
In a statement, Brian said: “This is a great opportunity, our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, America!”
Adam, 36, has been providing vocals for group on tour since 2012 and he cherishes his time on the road with Brian and drummer Roger Taylor as it’s a different vibe to the music he makes on his own.
He previously said: “I’ve never felt like working with Queen has put any sort of a damper on my solo work. I don’t feel as though we can compete with each other. I think that actually, they have coexisted very well, timing wise. The collaboration with Queen is little chunks of time that I go on the road with them, and then I’m done so it’s left me plenty of time to sort of flip-flop into my solo career.”
