New Prince film will not be a biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince’s music is going to be used to create a new movie.
Universal Pictures – who have found great success in musically-inspired films including franchises such as ‘Mamma Mia!’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’ – has acquired the rights to a number of classic Prince songs and are developing an original film musical that insiders say will not be a biopic, but an original story with Prince’s classic songs driving the plotline.
According to Variety, sources close to the project claim that Universal will not be taking the biopic angle as it has already been covered to a degree by Prince’s 1984 film ‘Purple Rain’.
Now, meetings have begun with potential writers, producers and executives who are hoping the film can be an original story where Prince’s beloved hits drive the narrative – much like the style of ‘Mamma Mia!’.
Troy Carter – the entertainment adviser of Prince’s estate – will executive produce alongside Jody Gerson, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group, the exclusive worldwide publishing administrator for Prince’s catalog.
President of Global Film Music and Publishing for Universal Pictures Mike Knobloch is playing a key role in the project for the studio. Universal’s Vice President of Production Sara Scott and Creative Executive Mika Pryce will oversee development on behalf of the studio.
Prince – who was one of the best-selling artists ever – sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
He won eight Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award for the 1984 film Purple Rain.
Tragically the musician – whose career spanned six decades – died aged 57 in 2016 in Minnesota due to an accidental drug overdose.

Chanel become first luxury fashion house to ban exotic skins

OHMYGOSSIP — Chanel will no longer use exotic skins or real fur.
The fashion house will become the first luxury label to join the likes of Asos, Nike, H&M, and Puma, in banning the use of all exotic skins.
The brand has rarely used crocodile, lizard, snake, stingray, or fur but have still made the decision to ban all use of the animal products ahead of its pre-fall 2019 Metiers d’Art show in New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The ban was brought in as it was becoming increasingly difficult to ethically source skins that meet the house’s quality standards – and Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion, insisted that decision was made with no pressure from the public.
He said: “There is a problem of supply and that was not Chanel’s business anyway, we did it because it’s in the air, but it’s not an air people imposed to us. It’s a free choice.
“The future of high-end products will come from the know-how of what our atelier is able to do.”
Despite not banning animal skins entirely, brands such as Burberry have made the leap to fur-free fashion after years of relying on rabbit, fox, mink and Asiatic racoon fur for its designs.
However, after years of being targeted by angry animal rights campaigners, the fashion house finally decided to follow the likes of its high-end competitors Versace and Gucci by eliminating animal flesh from its pieces.
Burberry said: “We already re-use, repair, donate or recycle unsaleable products and we will continue to expand these efforts. At Burberry, we are passionate about driving positive change.”

Dua Lipa doesn’t believe in ‘man-hating’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa doesn’t think feminism is about “man-hating”.
The 23-year-old singer thinks that gender equality means “women deserve the same opportunities” as men and believes that some people disregard the stories of important men simply because they are men.
In an interview with British Vogue, she said: “Feminism to me is not man-hating; it’s just being like ‘we deserve the same opportunities’.
“You hear so much about all these strong important men who have changed the world, even in history and the story of mankind, somehow the f***ing story starts with, ‘Well, the man did this.’ ”
The ‘One Kiss’ hitmaker also discussed her body image and insisted that although she’s “confident in her body” she tries to tell herself two positive things about her appearance every day.
She said: “I do feel quite confident in my body, there’s always going to be something you don’t like, but it’s so much healthier to tell yourself two things you like about yourself every day.
‘I go, ‘You know what, my skin’s looking great, I’m not going to put any make-up on,’ rather than, ‘Oh God, you’ve had pasta every night this week.’ ”
Although the ‘New Rules’ singer believes that important male stories should not be erased, she has previously confessed that in her opinion misogyny runs “deep” in the music industry.
She said: “Misogyny can run so deep.
“The second a guy sings, ‘I’m heartbroken,’ everyone is like, ‘Poor him!’ The second a girl says something empowering or ‘I don’t even care about this person anymore,’ it’s ‘You’re a b***h!’ Hopefully, that will change.
“I was like, ‘You don’t even know the real story.’ But you just can’t win, so that’s not gonna stop me from being honest in my music.”

Gwyneth Paltrow adjusting to stepmotherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow “doesn’t know” how to be a stepmother.
The ‘Iron Man’ actress married producer Brad Falchuk – who has teenagers Brody and Isabella with ex-wife Suzanne Bukinik – in September but they have yet to merge their households and are still getting to grips with being a blended family.
Gwyneth – who has Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, with ex-husband Chris Martin – told WSJ magazine: “We are still doing it in our own way. With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing. I’ve never been a stepmother before. I don’t know how to do it.”
But the 46-year-old star admitted her second marriage is “fantastic” and she feels she was in a better position to find her “life partner” than when she married the Coldplay frontman in December 2003.
She said: “It’s fantastic. I feel like we are probably better equipped to choose our life partner when we are halfway through life. But generally, we have to pick our spouses a lot earlier because of the whole procreation piece.
“For me it has been more of a process, and so I feel really lucky to have met this person who is an incredible, true partner.”
The Goop founder also claimed she and her friend Cameron Diaz “cry with gratitude” that paparazzi culture didn’t exist when they were younger, and she’s thankful she was able to go about her business without being bothered after her high-profile break-up from Brad Pitt in 1997.
She said: “Cameron Diaz and I talk about this all the time. We’re like, ‘Thank God in the early ’90s there were [so few] paparazzi. Thank God.’ We cry in gratitude that no one was following us around and seeing what we were doing.
“I remember when Brad Pitt and I broke up, it was on the cover of the New York Post and there was no one outside my house. That would never happen today.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra’s wedding was “all tears”.
The ‘Quantico’ actress tied the knot with Nick Jonas in four days of celebrations with 225 guests in India over the weekend, and the couple both admitted they found their Western nuptials – which was officiated by the ‘Jealous’ singer’s father Kevin Sr. – particularly emotional.
Priyanka – who wore a hand-beaded and embroidered Ralph Lauren gown and a 75-foot veil to the first ceremony – said: “It was all tears. All tears.
“I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”
Nick added: “The emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me. You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional.”
The 36-year-old actress insisted she never had a “plan” for how she wanted her wedding to look but it “melted [her] heart” when Nick suggested two ceremonies in India to celebrate their different backgrounds.
She told People magazine: “Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day. But I never had a plan about what I wanted it to be.
“It melted my heart. Being able to have two big weddings, in India, with our closest family and friends was unbelievably special.”
And the couple are proud their wedding was a “religious mash-up” of “beautiful” traditions from their respective backgrounds.
The ‘Baywatch’ star said: “I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up.
“We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalised them in a way that made sense for us. It’s been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way.”

Matthew Wright ditches pregnant wife for solo Christmas trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Wright will not be spending Christmas with his pregnant wife this year.
The 53-year-old radio presenter hates the pressure of the festive season and instead prefers to spend a couple of weeks away from home on a fishing trip, meaning he will not be with his significant other, Amelia Wright.
In a guest column in this week’s Closer magazine, he wrote: “The meaning of Christmas may be about spending time with loved ones, but I have to admit I always spend the day on my own.
“I hate the stress of it and the pressure to spend so much money on presents and food. So I take myself off somewhere for two weeks, fishing, without any friends or family.
“I’ve always been a loner and benefit a lot from my own company.
“I also haven’t bought a Christmas card or present for about 11 years.
“My wife Amelia is pregnant with our-much-longed-for first child – due on Valentine’s Day – but I’m still going to go away for a few weeks on my own.”
Matthew – who is best known for being the host of the Channel 4 topical debate show ‘The Wright Stuff’ from 2000 to 2018 – insisted Amelia is understanding of her husband’s reclusive nature and says “she’s always been supportive” of his choice to leave her to enjoy Christmas with her family while he goes on a solo fishing trip.

Brian May’s rocking manicure

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian May gets a powder gel manicure at his local nail salon to strengthen his fingernails so he can play guitar on stage with Queen.
The 71-year-old guitarist relies on acrylic nails to protect his hard-worn finger tips when he’s hammering the fret board of his instrument and he admits the beauty treatment has “changed his life” on tour and would recommend them to “any guitarist”.
Speaking to The Daily Mail newspaper, he said: “These days I’m dependent on powder gel. My fingernails don’t hold up to the guitar playing. In fact, these nail coverings have really changed my life on tour. I recommend them to any guitarist. They’re hard as iron. When the coverings finally fall off about two months later your nails are in a hopeless state. So back to the salon you go.”
Following the release of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – the critically acclaimed biopic about the British rock band and their iconic singer Freddie Mercury – Queen announced they are embarking on a North American tour during the summer of 2019 with singer Adam Lambert.
The group will perform 23 shows in the United States and Canada next July and August for their ‘Rhapsody Tour’.
In a statement, Brian said: “This is a great opportunity, our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, America!”
Adam, 36, has been providing vocals for group on tour since 2012 and he cherishes his time on the road with Brian and drummer Roger Taylor as it’s a different vibe to the music he makes on his own.
He previously said: “I’ve never felt like working with Queen has put any sort of a damper on my solo work. I don’t feel as though we can compete with each other. I think that actually, they have coexisted very well, timing wise. The collaboration with Queen is little chunks of time that I go on the road with them, and then I’m done so it’s left me plenty of time to sort of flip-flop into my solo career.”

The 38-year-old reality star is often seen arguing with her siblings Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney and their mother Kris Jenner on the family’s reality TV show ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.
Although their disputes have never resulted in legal action, Kim would not be shocked to one day be served by “ruthless” Kourtney, 39.
Jimmy Kimmel asked the question in a segment entitled ‘3 Ridiculous Questions’ for the episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ that aired on Monday (03.12.18), prompting Kim to reply: “Kourtney! She is ruthless.”

Mac Miller’s estate need help calculating wealth

OHMYGOSSIP — Mac Miller’s estate has been unable to figure out how much money the star left behind when he passed away.
The ‘My Favourite Part’ hitmaker passed away in September this year following an accidental overdose, and it has now been claimed in new court documents that his family require a probate referee to appraise the assets of his estate, as they’ve been unable to come up with a figure themselves.
According to The Blast, documents were filed by the ‘Small World’ rapper’s estate on November 26 to request that a judge appoint a probate officer to look over his assets, including cash, real estate and personal property.
The appraiser is expected to put a value on Mac’s royalties, as well as how much his name and likeness is worth in death, and give an estimate of how much his music royalties may be worth in the future.
Once a value is given, the estate will be closer to figuring out which beneficiaries, including the late rapper’s brother and parents, will receive.
Mac passed away at the age of 26, four months after his two-year romance with Ariana Grande had come to an end in May.
Ariana, 25, began dating Pete Davidson the same month she split from Mac, and the pair got engaged a month later in June, before splitting in October.
The ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ has been public about her mourning of her late ex-boyfriend, and in November, she claimed he should “still be here”.
When a fan shared a clip of Mac listening to Ariana’s track ‘R.E.M.’ – which was filmed in August, after the pair had split and when Ariana was still engaged to Pete – Ariana responded: “His voice and laugh… He is supposed to be here.”
And the pop megastar referenced Mac in new single ‘Thank U, Next’, where she mentions many of her former flames by name.
She sings: “Thought I’d end up with Sean/ But it wasn’t a match/ Wrote some songs about Ricky/ Now I listen and laugh.
“Even almost got married/ And for Pete, I’m so thankful/ Wish I could say, ‘Thank you’ to Malcolm/ ‘Cause he was an angel.”

Lindsay’s journey into entrepreneurship comes after she recently admitted
she’s put her partying ways and turbulent past – which saw her enter rehab on many occasions to receive treatment for drug and alcohol addiction – behind her, as she now prefers to cook and entertain others instead.
She said: “I am who I am. I’m a good person. I take care of myself. I’m healthy. I like to have fun, but that doesn’t mean I need to go out and drink and be crazy.
“I have a good relationship with that. It’s funnier to watch other people party.
“My brother and his wife came out to Mykonos and everyone wanted to go out every night, but I pretty much just went home; some of my friends didn’t want to go out, so they’d come and I’d cook. I like cooking for people and having people over and listening to good music.”

Man charged with homicide following death of Sarah Hyland’s cousin

OHMYGOSSIP — The man allegedly responsible for the death of Sarah Hyland’s cousin has been charged with homicide.
Jeffrey Eggeling has been officially charged with three felonies – motor vehicle homicide with a DUI prior conviction, DUI causing serious bodily injury, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident resulting in death – after he crashed into another car containing the ‘Modern Family’ actress’ uncle and 14-year-old cousin Trevor Canaday, who was ejected from the vehicle and later died from his injuries.
According to The Blast, the Douglas County Attorney in Nebraska charged Eggeling with the three felonies on Tuesday (04.12.18), which could see him face up to 50 years behind bars.
Trevor’s family set up a GoFundMe page following his passing which aims to fund his funeral and his father’s ongoing medical expenses, and Sarah – who donated $1,000 to the page – has said she’s taking a break from social media “for a while” after critics slammed her for asking fans to donate to the cause.
She tweeted: “I’d like to ask those who have negative thoughts or opinions about the tragedy that happened to my family, to keep them to themselves. You don’t know all the details. And how dare you attack when a beautiful life has been lost.
“You guys finally did it. Your horrible negative ignorant words have broken me. Happy? Staying offline for a while. I have a special announcement and video releasing on Wednesday I believe. So. There’s that. (sic)”
Sarah had taken to her Instagram Stories to encourage her six million followers to donate to Trevor’s GoFundMe page.
She wrote: “This is my 14 year old cousin Trevor. Yesterday, he was killed by a drunk driver. My uncle is still in the hospital in need of more surgeries. (sic)”
So far, the page has raised over $36,000 in donations, including a $2,500 donation from Sarah’s ‘Modern Family’ co-star Ariel Winter.

Jenna Dewan ‘let herself grieve’ over Channing Tatum split

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Dewan “let herself grieve” over the end of her marriage to Channing Tatum.
The 38-year-old actress split from Channing – whom she married in 2009 and with whom she has five-year-old daughter Everly – in April this year, and has said that her top tip to moving on from the romance was to allow herself time to “cry” over the lost love, and not “run away” from her feelings.
She told Cosmopolitan magazine: “People are like, ‘How do you get through this?’ I didn’t run away from my feelings. I let myself cry. I let myself grieve. This is one of those situations where I will see the light. The dawn is coming.”
Since splitting with Channing, Jenna has been romancing new beau Steve Kazee, and recently said she was “very happy” at the moment.
Meanwhile, a source previously revealed Jenna is “having a lot of fun” with Steve and their relationship is getting more “serious”.
A source said: “Jenna is having a lot of fun with Steve. They’ve been dating for months out of the spotlight and it’s becoming more serious. They have a lot in common … She and Channing are both very respectful of each other, but she’s ready to move on with her life. She’s feeling hopeful about the future and her friends are also really excited to see her so happy.”
Jenna and Channing confirmed in April that they were splitting up.
Their statement released at the time read: “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision – just two best-friends seeing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

Kanye West’s telemarking past

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West used to be a telemarketer.
The ‘Famous’ hitmaker may be one of the world’s biggest stars now, but he used to have a job cold calling people to sell them things, and as a result, his wife Kim Kardashian West is always “nice” when she receives a nuisance sales call.
Asked if she speaks to telemarketers, she told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel: “All the time. [But] I block them. I think Kanye [West] used to be a telemarketer, so I try to be nice.”
Jimmy replied: “Nobody likes them – but one of them came out of it and got pretty famous.”
Kim agreed: “You never know who’s calling.”
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star – who has children North, five, and Saint, two, with Kanye – also admitted during a pre-taped game of ‘3 Ridiculous Questions’ that she wouldn’t be surprised if her oldest sister, Kourtney Kardashian took legal action against her.
Asked which of her siblings would be most likely to sue her, she said: “Kourtney. She is ruthless.”
Jimmy then asked: “Has she ever threatened legal action against you?”
Referring to her online game ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood’, she replied: “Maybe as a joke, When I used her character in a video game. I paid her still, but yeah, she wanted more.”
The 38-year-old beauty – who is known for her love of selfies and even released a book collection of her favourites, entitled ‘Selfish’ – also pondered Instagram posts that have no likes.
Asked if a selfie is taken but no one likes it, does that still make it a selfie, she replied: “Absolutely. I mean, that hasn’t happened to me so I have no real connection to that, but I do believe that it still is a selfie.”
