Hayley Atwell felt ‘disgusting’ playing slave owner

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Atwell felt “disgusting” while playing a slave owner in new BBC One drama ‘The Long Song’.
The 36-year-old actress was repulsed by her character Caroline Mortimer, who is a cruel British mistress who lives on her brother’s sugar plantation in 19th century Jamaica, because her alter-ego’s actions were against her own instincts.
She is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “I would go home and I felt disgusting, I felt gross.
“And that’s also at times how I had meant to feel.
“I’m doing things which are very much against my own instincts as a person and also very against the warmth of the cast.
“It was painful at times.”
Hayley stars alongside Sir Lenny Henry and Tamara Lawrance in the forthcoming three-part drama series, which is set in early 19th century Jamaica and depicts the last days of slavery.
Caroline is a mistress to a young slave called July – who is played by Tamara – whom she takes from her mother when just a child, and Lenny will portray a slave named Godfrey.
The production is based on the Walter Scott Prize-winning historical novel of the same name – which was written by Andrea Levy and published in 2010.
Hayley previously revealed that while she was happy to test herself as an actress by playing such a hateful character, she was really glad to leave her villainous role behind when production ended.
She previously stated: “I’ve not had an experience of playing someone who could be I suppose understandably reduced to just ‘villain, baddie’ before and I really wanted to.
“I felt, as an actor, part of my job is to stretch and to play roles that would be uncomfortable for me.
“I remember on my last day posting something going ‘I’m really happy to stop playing Caroline because I loved her, I never liked her.’ ”

Riz Ahmed was Jacko impersonator

OHMYGOSSIP — Riz Ahmed used to impersonate Michael Jackson for his family when he was a child.
The 36-year-old actor-and-rapper was obsessed with the late King of Pop when he was growing up and he used to love to learn Michael’s extravagant dance routines and then act them out for his relatives.
Speaking to Mojo magazine, he said: “I guess I used to want to be Michael Jackson at one point. I used to impersonate him and do moonwalks, all that s**t, at big family gatherings, which would basically be like, having a full body spasm in a circle of clapping middle-aged Pakistani uncles.”
The ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ actor still regards Michael’s ‘Bad’ as his favourite album, because it made such a big impression on him when he was younger.
Asked his all-time favourite LP is, he said: “That’s a really difficult question, I hate you for asking that. Maybe Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’. It was the first major album in my life – I was about six – and it’s still really hard to f**k with that.”
However, the first record Riz ever bought himself was by Michael’s pop rival Prince album, because he’d seen one of his music videos and was excited by the “porn” feel of the promo.
He explained: “I bought Prince & The New Power Generation’s ‘Diamonds and Pearls’ on CD from Woolworths. I’d seen the music video for ‘Gett Off’, which was really sexual and horny, in Top Shop or something. It was my first attempt to buy porn really.”
The ‘Venom’ star – who is also known as Riz MC – never sings in the shower, but he finds it a very creative place.
He said: “I don’t sing – I think [in the shower]. It’s one of the only places where the pestilence of the phone isn’t around our f***ing necks, that’s why it’s one of the most creative places.”

Jennifer Lopez says Alex Rodriguez has a ‘loving spirit’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez thinks Alex Rodriguez has a “loving spirit”.
The 49-year-old star has gushed about the baseball legend during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, and Jennifer even struggled to hold back tears as she spoke in glowing terms about Alex.
She shared: “He’s come into my life and really contributed in such a way. He’s so supportive, he’s so loving.
“He’s one of these people, he’s like, ‘Shine, be the best.’ Some people try to dull you down, try to squish you down and he’s so not like that. And it’s just so refreshing. It’s just such a beautiful thing.”
The ‘Jenny from the Block’ hitmaker explained that in spite of his celebrity status, Alex is still a caring, selfless boyfriend.
As she struggled to contain her emotions, Jennifer said: “He’s just a very generous, loving spirit, soul.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer recently acknowledged that her fans want her to have a “fairy tale” wedding with Alex.
The singer and actress – who went public with her romance with Alex in 2017 – understands why her fans are so invested in her love life, admitting they just want “a happy ending” for her.
She said: “Everyone wants a fairy tale. They all want a romantic comedy, a happy ending. We all do. But it’s not a movie, even if you see us on Instagram or on the shows.”
The loved-up couple aren’t engaged yet, and Jennifer insisted they’re still taking their romance “day-by-day” at this stage.
Speaking about their relationship, Jennifer – who has been married three times previously, to Marc Anthony, Cris Judd and Ojani Noa – explained: “We’re happy. We’re taking it day-by-day. And it’s great.”

Emily Ratajkowski: Sexual empowerment is part of feminism

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Ratajkowski doesn’t accept that dressing sexily and embracing her body somehow makes her less of a feminist.
The 27-year-old model-and-actress knows that some people believe she is contradicting her feminist beliefs by “capitalising on her sexiness” but she doesn’t think that her fashion choices have any impact on her ideals.
In an interview with Vogue Australia, she said: “The only argument that I think is sort of interesting is the conversation that somehow I’m playing into a patriarchal society by looking the way I look and capitalising on my sexiness. But I don’t really care if me wearing a crop top is somehow playing into some patriarchy, because it makes me feel good about myself, and I shouldn’t be limited on that. Making rules as to what a feminist should look like or wear is insane to me.”
Emily insists women need to support one another and it is time to stop dismissing women who make their living from their looks and what they have to say.
She added: “No one should be shaming anyone, and women especially should not be shaming other women.
“I think there’s a whole other level of women who are sexy and are promoting their sexiness or are comfortable with their sexiness; they especially don’t want to hear it from them. I think in general people don’t really want to hear women talk about these kinds of things, and especially women who make money on how they look: they especially resent them using their voice.”
Emily has used her fame to promote feminism and has always maintained that female sexual empowerment and ownership over one’s body are key parts of feminist ideas, to the derision of many commentators.
The ‘Gone Girl’ star – who is married to actor-and-producer Sebastian Bear-McClard – said: “People were not happy about me wanting to take the conversations there.”

Behati Prinsloo is hands-on with makeup

OHMYGOSSIP — Behati Prinsloo applies her daily makeup with her hands because she believes she achieves a better finish that she could with brushes.
The 30-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel has detailed her day-to-day beauty regime and revealed that she doesn’t use any brushes when applying cosmetics because her fingers are better at blending certain products more naturally into her skin.
The model begins her beauty regime by spraying Mid-Day Essence by SKII, a hydrating spray, to prime the skin, she then mixes Sun Drops SPF50 by Dr Barbara Strum and Vibrancy Argan Oil Foundation Fluid by Josie Maran Cosmetics.
In a video from Vogue, she said: “This is my easy natural on the go, day to day look if I need to walk my dog, walk my kids.
“Because this is a daytime look I like to mix my foundation with my sunblock because it makes the foundation nice and thin.
“I love using my hands when I do makeup I think the hands warms up the product so it actually goes into the skin a lot more even.”
After adding a light eyebrow look using Brow Lift by Charlotte Tilbury, Behati moves on to her skin routine using the Cream Base Palette by Laura Mercier and a standard black Beauty Blender.
The catwalk star – who has Dusty Rose, two, and 10-month-old Gio Grace, with her husband Adam Levine – said: “Creams are really easy because I use my fingers and because it’s a cream it gives you that dewy kind of look which I love. I love this guy [Blender] I don’t use that many brushes so this is my saviour.”
She then applies a light layer of mascara with Full Fat Lashes by Charlotte Tilbury after curling her lashes with a NARS curler and finishes her look by lining and filling in her lips with Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat for a “natural pout” and tops it up with a Lip Balm by Windsor Edwards.

Sophie Austin hospice visit ‘really hits home’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Austin has become patron of children’s hospice Little Havens after a visit to the centre “really hit home”.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress and her fiance, ex-‘Coronation Street’ actor Shayne Ward, visited Little Havens Hospice in Essex – where children or young people with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses are cared for – and she admitted coming face-to-face with the kids at the hospice made her realise how “vital” it is.
Sophie – who has 12-month-old daughter Willow with Shayne – said: “Being a parent it really hit home how vital places like Little Havens are.
“I was surprised that it is the only place in Essex wholly dedicated to caring for youngsters with life-limiting illnesses and supporting families for as long as they are needed.
“I am really pleased to be the charity’s new patron.”
Sophie – who played Lindsey Butterfield on the Channel 4 soap for three years – expected the day to be “sad”, but the reality was the “absolute opposite”.
She added to Echo News: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet the families at Little Havens.
“Their stories were incredibly inspirational and I thoroughly enjoyed my day chatting with the children, parents and staff at the hospice.
“I learnt so much about what hospice care really is.
“I think you just expect it to be sad, but Little Havens was the absolute opposite – it was just full of love, laughter and joy.”
Sophie previously admitted she will “forever be in awe” of Shayne after he revisited “tragic loss” to play his character Aidan Connor’s suicide storyline in ‘Coronation Street’, for which he teamed up with charities CALMzone and Samaritans.
She wrote on Instagram: “So here we are at the end of this long journey , one that I’m so so proud of you for taking . At first it was such a hard decision and road to face knowing how important this story was for us as a family and for so many others. You were scared as you wanted to do it justice ! Well you did my darling , you listened to stories/ experiences , learnt , revisited your own memories and tragic loss and worked hard to make this story the truest it could be and to hopefully help others and get people taking . Jodie Foster to direct and star in Woman at War remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Foster is set to direct and star in an English-language remake of ‘Woman at War’.
The Academy Award-winning star will play a central role in the remake of the Icelandic eco-thriller, which was directed by Benedikt Erlingsson and is Iceland’s official submission for this year’s foreign language Oscar.
The original movie – which stars Halldora Geirhardsdottir – told the story of a music teacher who is also a passionate environmental activist.
In the movie, the character unexpectedly learns that her adoption application has been approved and she heads to the Ukraine to meet her baby girl for the first time.
However, she first commits to one final mission as government agents close in on her.
At this stage, it’s still unclear whether Jodie will make any substantial changes to the original plot.
Meanwhile, Jodie previously revealed she is “super-excited” about the prospect of making movies in her 70s.
The 56-year-old actress shared: “I’m super-excited to be acting in my 60s and 70s. I think the roles will be so much more interesting!”
The ‘Money Monster’ filmmaker also admitted she turned to directing in recent years because she was at a difficult age for acting.
She said: “Being in your 50s is a transitional period for actors – you’re not old enough to play the old characters and not young enough to play the young ones, so I felt like, ‘OK, this is my time to direct.’
“It’s just what happens – it’s normal. There are just not that many roles for this age. But I anticipated it and I feel like I made hay in my younger years and I can express myself by directing. But once in a while something original comes along that isn’t just another franchise.”

Mark Hamill likens Star Wars secrecy to a ‘deep state government organisation’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Hamill has likened working on ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ to being part of “some secret deep state government organisation”.
The 67-year-old actor – who plays Luke Skywalker in the money-spinning film series – has admitted that secrecy levels surrounding the franchise have markedly increased since the first movie in 1977.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “You know how it is these days, every time you sign NDAs.
“I remember back when I read the first ‘Star Wars’ [script], I was like, ‘Wow, that’s the goofiest thing I’ve ever read.’ I gave it to my best friend to read, and I said, ‘What do you think of it?’ He said, ‘It’s really wild, it’s crazy, can I give it to Meredith?’ ‘Sure, go ahead.’ It went around to all my friends.
“Of course back then nobody cared. Nowadays it’s like working for some secret deep state government organisation, like being in the CIA. They’re going to send rewrites over to Prague on this dark red paper that gives you a headache to read.”
The dark red paper idea was previously employed by J.J. Abrams while he was directing 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
And Mark revealed the studio is taking every possible precaution to ensure that plot details do not leak.
He said: “They’re going to fly [the rewrites] over with somebody from the company.
“They’re going to come and give it to me and wait for me to read it before I give it back. So no pressure! You can’t even keep it overnight. But that’s the way it is now.”

Joel Edgerton reveals his Boy Erased worries

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Boy Erased’ director Joel Edgerton was initially worried about the release of ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’.
The 44-year-old filmmaker’s project and the Desiree Akhavan-directed ‘Miseducation of Cameron Post’ both centred on the issue of gay conversion therapy, and Joel was slightly concerned that there wasn’t enough room in the industry for two films about the same subject.
He said: “When I first heard, as we were about to head into pre-production, that another movie was being made, I was definitely like ‘Oh, damn.'”
However, Joel subsequently reflected on the situation and concluded that it shouldn’t be a problem.
The director pointed out that many similar films are released each and every year.
He told the BBC: “I think that’s the only time I’ve ever been at all worried about it.
“Because my answer to that in many ways is that every year I see that there’s like 20-plus superhero movies, there’s dozens of romantic comedies, there’s 50 horror movies.
“It’s like, if there isn’t enough room in this time for two conversion movies in one space then that’s crazy.”
Joel also thought that ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’ – which stars Chloe Grace Moretz – was sufficiently different to his own movie.
He shared: “The beauty is ‘Cameron Post’s central character is a young lady, it’s a cheekier satirical aspect to its tone … there are enough points of difference between that they can definitely be a different meal on the menu for different people.”

Chris Messina cast in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Messina has been cast in ‘Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’.
The 44-year-old actor – who previously starred in films such as ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ and ‘Argo’ – has reached an agreement to play the villainous Victor Zsasz in the much-anticipated new movie, according to Deadline.
Ewan McGregor will be playing the part of Black Mask, the film’s main villain, and Chris’ character will be working in cahoots with him.
Victor Zsasz – who first appeared in comic books in the 1990s – is a serial killer who is known to carve a tally mark into his skin for each of his murder victims.
Meanwhile, Margot Robbie – who is reprising the role of Harley Quinn – recently revealed the title reflects the movie’s playful tone.
Margot – who starred as Harley in 2016’s ‘Suicide Squad’ – said: “It’s not gonna be … it’s not a very serious movie, so we thought the title should reflect that. ‘Birds of Prey’ makes it sound very serious, and then that, you know, that’s kinda like Harley adding her, like, ‘Hey, I’m in this too.'”
Margot also admitted the title was inspired by her love of the comedy film ‘The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared’, which is based on a comic novel by Jonas Jonasson.
The actress said on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’: “I love a long title.
“Actually, I said that when we were thinking of the title. I said ‘You know what? You know what’s a great title? Did you ever see ‘The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared?” Long title, but I love it. It’s a great movie, as well. You should watch it.”

Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t use the internet

OHMYGOSSIP — Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t surf the internet – because he’d rather spend his spare time with his pet cat.
The 85-year-old fashion mogul has a very close bond with his Birman breed Choupette and he prioritises playing with his pussy over checking the web or social media sites.
Revealing he doesn’t scroll sites on his smartphone in an interview with The Cut, he said: “No, no. I think it’s great, but I have assistants who inform me [about] what I have not seen. Personally, I have no time. I don’t do internet, I don’t do Facebook. I have to sketch, I have to play with Choupette, I have to sleep. The day is too short for that.”
Lagerfeld has an incredibly close bond with his feline friend – who originally belonged to a friend of his – but his love for his cat came as a surprise to him because he initially thought owning a pet would be “too much fuss”.
He explained: “My best friend, Sandy Brant had a cat, and I thought it was too much, the fuss about the cat. Then a friend of mine came with Choupette and said, to one of my mates, not even to me, ‘I’m leaving for two weeks, can you keep the cat?’ When he came back, I told him that the cat was not returning to his house, and I kept it, this kind of genius creature.”
Lagerfeld insists nothing is too much trouble for his beloved Choupette and the cat regularly travels with him by private jet.
The clothing genius – who is the head creative director of the fashion houses Chanel and Fendi and his own eponymous fashion label – said: “She loves private jets. She is always on the knees of the pilots.
“She adores them. You know, the problem with private jets is that even if you have a big one, if you have many people [aboard], then it is a nightmare. More than three or four, forget about it. I remember I came back from Moscow and brought all my assistants. It was the worst flight, because they asked for drinks and this and that. I like to sleep in planes. Or I close my eyes and clean my brain.”

Celine Dion wants clothing line to promote individuality

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion hopes her gender neutral children’s clothing line will give children a “chance to feel free to find their own individuality”.
The 50-year-old singer recently launched her label Celinununu and all the clothes on sale online and in-store are not marketed towards any specific gender and she just wants kids to rid themselves of stereotypes and dress however they want.
In an interview with website Refinery29, she said: “It’s not that we’re hoping to shift gender norms with Celinununu. It’s more about offering a choice and giving children a chance to feel free to find their own individuality, their own true essence without being tied to stereotypes. I think that every child needs to have their own identity, to express themselves freely, and to not feel like they have to be like someone else.”
Celine – who has three sons, eight-year-old fraternal twins Nelson and Eddy and 17-year-old René, with her late husband René Angélil – is aware that her venture has attracted some criticism but she is adamant she doesn’t want to “tell parents how to raise their children” but simply wants to offer a choice.
She said: “Anytime you introduce change, you’re going to get a bit of push back – this is normal. We’re also getting a lot of great feedback from people who understand that I’m not trying to tell parents how to raise their children. Every parent should do what they feel is right for them and for their children. We’re just offering other choices and letting them know that you don’t have to follow stereotypes.”
Celine has revealed that her twin boys are big fans of the Celinununu line and love to wear the creations from the nununu team.
She said: “My oldest son is 17, so no it’s not for him. Eddy and Nelson just turned eight and even though they’re twins, they are very different from each other. Both wear the line and they both think it’s great.”

Wes Nelson misses Dancing on Ice rehearsals to go on holiday

OHMYGOSSIP — Wes Nelson has missed some ‘Dancing on Ice’ training sessions because he is on holiday in Mauritius.
Pro skater Vanessa Bauer, who will partner the ‘Love Island’ star on the upcoming series, has admitted scheduling rehearsals with Wes can be challenging because the star is always busy and “in-demand”, but he is “very talented” on the ice.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ today (12.12.18) with fellow pro skater Hamish Gaman, she said: “Well rehearsals are going well whenever we are on the ice training.
“He is very, very, ambitious and he is very talented as well.
“He really wants to get far in this competition and he is so tight on his schedule.
“He has so many appearances everywhere; he is so high-on demand which is amazing for him!
“He is in Mauritius at the minute on holiday.”
When asked by presenter Rochelle Humes whether she was concerned about Wes missing rehearsals, Vanessa reassured her that everything will be fine because the 20-year-old contestant is a “natural” on ice.
She said: “Well, it does a little bit, but I am very confident that we are going to catch up on the training because he picks everything up so fast. He is a very natural skater already.”
The brunette beauty revealed she is eager to compete on the show again after winning the latest series with Jake Quickenden.
She said: “It was an amazing experience. I loved every single moment of it. I literally just can’t wait to get started with the second season.”
Figure skater Hamish – who is paired with Eurovision star Saara Aalto this year – agreed that there is a lot of competition among the professional dancers to impress audiences and win the show.
The 35-year-old beauty said: “It’s just so much fun for us to take that celebrity through – the longer the better.
“We love what we do, and getting to perform in front of everyone was amazing.”

Susannah Constantine injured ahead of Strictly performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Susannah Constantine is worried about performing in the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ final because she’s injured.
The 57-year-old presenter was the first voted off this year’s show but she’ll be returning to the floor with her professional partner Anton du Beke at the weekend, and she’s warned the dancer not to expect too much from her because of the pain she’s in.
She said: “I have torn an intercostal muscle and it’s incredibly painful because it’s the muscle that holds the ribs together.
“Lots of people get it when they do ‘Strictly’. Kate Silverton has got the same injury and Stacey Dooley did it as well. It is quite common.
“You just have to wait for it to heal and I am still in recovery.
“I’ve said to Anton, ‘You either have to carry me or I’m not going to move and I’m just going to stand there.’ I can be like a maypole and everyone can dance around me.”
Susannah was devastated when she was first voted off the show and compared the feeling to being dumped by a boyfriend.
She added to Closer magazine: “It was gutting being voted out. It was absolutely the worst feeling. I felt like I had been dumped by a boyfriend, which is why I had my hair cut afterwards.
“On the show, when I went out on that dance floor, I just went to pieces.
“I was never going to get over that, however long I stayed in there – whether I went out first or last – and even with Anton, who was so amazing and supportive, I just couldn’t get over that fear.”

Miley Cyrus calls Liam Hemsworth her ‘survival partner’

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus calls Liam Hemsworth her “survival partner”, not her fiance.
The 26-year-old singer praised her actor partner for helping save their pets from the devastating wildfires that destroyed their Malibu home and though he thinks the new label she’s given him isn’t particularly romantic, she couldn’t think of anything better.
She said: “Liam, I have never loved him more for this.”
Asked whether Liam is her fiance, Miley told ‘The Howard Stern Show’: “Yeah, kind of … ish. I call him my survival partner now and he thinks it’s not romantic, but I learned that it is.
“That is why you pair up with someone, is for survival, and he was so incredible. He got all of the animals out.”
However, Miley did lose her treasured song-writing book in the wildfires and admitted the destruction of her hand-written lyrics was the most devastating aspect of the blaze for her.
Miley confessed: “The hardest thing for me to lose was every song, including ‘Malibu’ – I lost because I always write it on paper.
“[Inside the house] was my song-writing book that I always wrote the lyrics in the car, so that’s gone.”
Asked why Liam didn’t save the book, Miley replied: “He grabbed his camera.
“I asked him, ‘What did you get me?’ He said, ‘My laptop and my camera.'”
Following the wildfires, Miley took to Instagram to explain that although she was devastated to have lost her home, she still considered herself to have been fortunate.
She wrote: “Completely devastated by the fires affecting my community. I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now. (sic)”
