Anne Hathaway gave Lily Collins acting advice in public toilet

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Collins was stunned to receive acting advice from Anne Hathaway in the toilets at a fashion event.
The 29-year-old actress says the 36-year-old star advised her to stay focused and not get “overwhelmed” when playing the young orphan Fantine in the upcoming BBC One production of ‘Les Misérables’.
The brunette beauty – who is the daughter of music legend Phil Collins – said: “I was leaving the bathroom and [Anne] was walking towards me – I don’t really know her … I thought, ‘I’m playing you!’ but I didn’t want to say that!
“I didn’t ask for any advice, but she said to me: ‘Just don’t lose yourself, because it can get really tough – that’s a really overwhelming character and it goes very deep and it’s very emotional.’
“The essence of what she was saying was, ‘Cling on to reality, because you can go down a dark path.’
“I, personally as an actor, have never gone that low – it was a really powerful experience for me to let go and to just give it all up to the moment.
“So it was interesting that her one thing that she said to me was just, ‘Stay you’.”
Anne previously portrayed Fantine in the 2012 film adaption of ‘Les Misérables’ – which was directed by Tom Hooper – and co-starred alongside Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Helena Bonham Carter.
Former ‘Growing Pains’ star Lily admitted she understood the ‘Devil Wears Prada’ actress’ advice as she found transforming into Fantine to be a “magical” experience.
She said: “It was really interesting for me to just let myself go and to not recognise myself physically. It was a really magical experience that I’m really grateful for.”
The six-part period drama also stars Olivia Colman, David Oyelowo and Dominic West and begins on December 30 at 9pm on BBC One.

“Now she has been working and really enjoying herself and because she is more fulfilled I guess that as a unit we are happier.”
Despite enjoying his time on the show, Robbie wants a pay rise if he is to return to ‘The X Factor’ in 2019.
Asked whether he would be interested in returning for another series, he recently said: “We would love to come back. But we need to be treated kindly, so we’ll see. Is that my pitch for a pay rise? Abso-f***ing-lutely.”

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker has revealed the only items she misses from the property, which was destroyed in the California wildfires, was her tribute to the late music legend – who died of a heart attack in in August 1977 at the age of 42 – as she “spoke” to the ‘Love Me Tender’ hitmaker every night.
Speaking to Tom Green on KISS Breakfast, she said: “The only thing I was upset about was I have an Elvis shrine, and every night I tell Elvis good night.
“And actually when I tell him good night usually I say, I whispered to him, ‘I wish we could have known each other because we would have been so great for each other.'”
The 26-year-old pop star – who channelled Elvis in her music video for ‘Younger Now’, which sees her don the late King of Rock and Roll’s famous quiff hairstyle – thinks that her fiancé Liam Hemsworth didn’t save the shrine from the fire because she was obsessed with it and the Hollywood icon.
She continued: “And I’m starting to think that’s why Liam didn’t grab the shrine because I say really creepy things to Elvis all the time.
“So I have this really crazy infatuation love with Elvis.
“The only thing I’m sad about is my Elvis shrine. That’s all I wanted.”
Miley also opened up about her relationship with her godmother, Dolly Parton, and how she still sends her faxes despite the messaging system being outdated.
The ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ singer goes to the trouble to get the faxes and voice notes the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker insists on recording on cassette tapes for her made digital and on put on CD, so she can access them.
She said: “I have faxes from Dolly Parton, hand signed also. She faxes.
“I obviously don’t have a fax machine, especially when I’m travelling.
“When I have one of those it’s like ‘where’s the nearest fax machine?!’
“I then have it sent to someone that can get the fax. “Then they put it digital for my phone.
“I also have to burn CDs, which she records.
“She sends me voice notes recorded on a cassette and then someone takes the cassette and burns them onto a CD, so they think it’s real high-tech that they’re sending me a CD. Yeah we burn this onto a CD, and I’m like where the hell am I going to play this?”

Himesh Patel joins The Luminaries

OHMYGOSSIP — Himesh Patel has been cast in new BBC Two period drama ‘The Luminaries’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor – known for his role as hapless market inspector Tamwar Masood – will appear alongside Ewen Leslie, Eve Hewson, and Eva Green in the six-part series, which has started filming in New Zealand.
The series is described as a 19th century story of adventure and mystery set on the Wild West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island in the boom years of the 1860s gold rush.
Eve will play Anna Wetherell, who has sailed from Britain to New Zealand to begin a new life, where she meets Emery Staines – portrayed by Ewen – and their meeting leads to a strange kind of magic that neither can explain.
Since departing ‘EastEnders’ in 2016 – after nine years on the soap – Himesh landed the role of Nitin in Channel 4 sitcom ‘Damned’ alongside Alan Davies and Jo Brand.
And while he was “sad” to leave Walford, he recently admitted it was the “right time” for him to make the move.
He said: “It was definitely the right time to leave.
“So it wasn’t like I was being pulled away from something that I was holding onto for dear life.
“But it was sad to leave people behind that I really loved, and had spent a lot of time with, and it was scary, because I’d been there since I was 16.
“So it was very scary to leave and venture forth, with no idea of what would come my way.”
The 28-year-old star also admitted he enjoyed improvising now and again while filming ‘Damned’.
He added: “I was more comfortable with the improvisation in this second series of ‘Damned’, I think.
“There’s no room for improvisation on ‘EastEnders’. You don’t have time – there’s 20 scenes to do in a day, so you’ve got to keep moving.”

Nigel Havers does panto to ‘get out of Christmas’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nigel Havers has been appearing in pantomimes for 14 years to “get out of Christmas”.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor admits he isn’t “a fan” of the festive period because it “starts too early and ends too late”, so he prefers to tread the boards to distract himself from the festivities.
When asked if panto ruins his Christmas, the ‘Snow White’ star said: “No, it gets you out of it. It means you don’t have to participate in it. I haven’t been a fan of Christmas for 14 years, which is how long I’ve been doing panto for. I think Christmas goes on way too long.
“It starts too early and ends too late. I like Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day but the rest just drags on.
“We have to work in this on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day – we only get Christmas Day off – but having done it for so many years I’ve kind of got the handle on that.”
Nigel has been so wrapped up in his ‘Snow White’ rehearsals he “forgot” about filming his festive ‘Coronation Street’ scenes as conman Lewis Archer.
He said: “I’d actually forgotten all about that because I’m in the middle of this.
“I finished that on one day and started this on the next so there was no moment to recover. It’s all done and dusted and in the can.”
Lewis looks set to meet his maker in upcoming scenes, and Nigel has added fuel to such rumours by joking he cannot say what is going to happen to his character otherwise he will be “killed”.
Speaking to Metro newspaper, he added: “I’m not allowed to give anything away otherwise I would be killed.
“No, no, that’s not a clue but they would shoot me. That’s not a clue, either. I would be poisoned. Not a clue. They would rip the heart out of me.”
This comes after Nigel recently admitted his future on the soap is “looking grim”.
Speaking about the speculated storyline, he said: “It’s not looking good – it’s looking grim.”

Serena Williams has to juggle her jobs with motherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams “doesn’t know” how she juggles running her fashion business with her tennis career and her responsibilities as a mother.
The 37-year-old sports superstar launched her own eponymous clothing line in May and she is very hands-on with the business even though she is still playing tennis professionally and she admits she has to be on top of her time management as she is also raising her 14-month-old daughter Alexis Jr. with her husband Alexis Ohanian.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, she said: “Honestly, I don’t know. I go to bed every night thinking, ‘How did I get through this day?’ I’m sure a lot of people out there can relate, right? It’s like, this day is over, it’s 10 o’clock, I got through it. How did that happen? That’s kind of how I am.
“Now I’m training on top of running this fashion company, on top of being a full-time mom. I’m super hands-on as a mom. I just take it as it is and realize that everyone goes through the same thing.”
Serena admits she is a “perfectionist” but she has learned that not every day go can the way she wants in her work and that has allowed her to get a better handle on her working days.
She said: “I think it’s really important to realise that no day is going to be perfect. For me, that’s really hard because I strive for perfection, and I feel like everything I do has to be great and has to be perfect, because I am a true perfectionist. But that’s impossible. That’s not reasonable. Then I realise that, OK, I had a rough day today, let’s do something to make it better tomorrow. I think it’s important to expect to have some really rough times when you’re going through something, but always know that you can overcome it.”
As well as her own label, Serena – who has become synonymous with style in the world of sports – previously teamed up with one of the fasting rising names in fashion, Off-White founder Virgil Abloh, for a limited edition tennis range for sportswear giant Nike.

Leela Lomax’s Hollyoaks wedding to feature ‘snot, tears, blood and guts’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hollyoaks’ Leela Lomax and Louis Loveday’s wedding will feature “a lot of snot, tears, blood and guts”.
The couple – who are played by Kirsty-Leigh Porter and Karl Collins – are set to tie the knot over the festive period, but Karl has hinted his alter-ego will take a beating on his chaotic big day.
He said: “Well, in true ‘Hollyoaks’ fashion, there’s a few punches thrown – not mine.
“Let’s just say that Louis won’t look good in the wedding photos! And he’s definitely going to be doing some grovelling.
“There’s going to be a lot of snot and tears – and blood and guts. And he might need his passport at some point.”
Louis will need to do plenty of grovelling if his big secret gets out – that he is actually already married to his ex Simone Loveday’s (Jacqueline Boatswain) sister Martine Deveraux (Kelle Bryan).
As well as the injuries he looks set to incur, Louis is emotionally “wounded” and “broken-hearted” about the terrible decision he made to marry Martine, according to Karl.
He added to What’s On TV magazine: “He wakes up and realises he’s got to fulfil this path that he’s on. He’s obligated and I think he’s broken-hearted.
“He’s going into it really wounded. But I’m sure there won’t be too many people crying over Louis’ broken heart.”
While Leela’s wedding looks set to end in disaster, the character may well depart the Hollyoaks village for a spell next year – because Kirsty is pregnant.
Announcing the news, she recently said: “We were really, really happy. You just feel everything at once.
“With acting, you don’t know when you’re okay to be like, ‘Let’s take a year out and do this.’
“You’re just prepared when it happens, and we’re so happy it’s happened for us now.”

Father Ted creator says transgenderism is as ‘terrible’ as Nazism

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Father Ted’ creator Graham Linehan has been met with fierce backlash for comparing transgender activists to Nazis.
The 50-year-old comedy writer and director – who was warned by police in October after a harassment complaint from a transgender activist – is under fire for claiming that transgenderism is “something terrible happening like Nazism”.
Speaking on internet radio show ‘Derrick Jensen Resistance Radio’, he claimed: “People do get very nervous… it’s like putting your hand on a flamethrower. The opposition is so extreme and so frightening that eventually everyone is asking you to stop.
“My feeling is I can’t, because it’s too important. It’s too important to the women in my life and it’s too important to me.
“I’m now in a position where I can now answer the question honestly of, if you were around the time of something terrible happening like Nazism, would you be one of the people who said, ‘This is wrong,’ despite being opposed?
“When things are wrong, you should be allowed to point out that they’re wrong.”
The ‘Black Books’ and ‘The IT Crowd’ writer also claimed that he had negative experiences with trans people and recalled a situation where he witnessed a trans man being challenged by a woman when entering a female changing room.
He said: “The thing I can easily see happening, because I’ve had experience with these type of people already, is someone in a changing room, a man walks in, absolutely no indication he’s a woman.
“The woman challenges it, the man says, ‘No, I’m sorry, I’m a woman, this is my female beard, this is my female penis, and you’re guilty of hate speech.’ ”
The LGBT community has spoken out and slammed Graham over the interview and his controversial comments.
One wrote on Twitter: “It sounds like you’re comparing trans people to nazis, and we both know that would be f**king absurd.”

Nick Knowles hid injury from viewers during I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles hid an injury during his time on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Of Here!’
The ‘DIY SOS’ star suffered a nasty injury just days before he went to the jungle, and he decided to keep it quiet from viewers.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he said: “I had an injury before I went. About five days before I went in I basically compressed a couple of vertebrae in my neck and tore two ligaments in my shoulder.
“So I was in an MRI machine just two days before I went out and then when I got to Australia I had four cortisone injections in my shoulder. [The show’s medic] Doctor Bob would come and check up on me.”
Nick, 56, explained he decided to keep it a secret because he wanted to avoid getting the “sympathy vote”.
He added: “I didn’t want the sympathy vote – just do it and get on with it and get through and out the other side.
“That’s why I’d sit in that freezing cold pool because it would freeze my shoulder. I hate cold water as well. It’d go numb and I’d get about an hour’s worth of relief off of it.”
Meanwhile, Nick – who will be auctioning off his now infamous red ‘budgie smugglers’ for charity – also opened up about calling the in the medical team for campmate and eventual winner Harry Redknapp.
He said: “That morning he stood up – a lot of people getting dizzy through lack of food and things – he stood up and then was a little giddy on his feet. He said, ‘That was a bit odd’.
“Then we went down and he did it again in the shower. I noticed his lip was dropped on one side. Now, my father died of a stroke. I immediately was like I want to get the medics in here straight away. He’s almost 82, I want to make sure he’s ok.
“It turned out what it was, he was a little low on body sugars, which was making him dizzy. Bit dehydrated, which made him dizzy. Actually, he’d got a bite on his lip from one of the trials, which made his lip swell, which made him look lower on one side – enough signs for me to go [and get help].”

Emily Blunt’s daughters believed she could fly after seeing Mary Poppins Returns

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt’s daughters believed she could fly after seeing her portray Mary Poppins.
The 35-year-old actress – who has daughters Hazel, four, and Violet, two, with her husband John Krasinski – has admitted she disappointed her eldest by revealing she cannot actually fly using an umbrella like the iconic nanny.
Speaking at the European premiere of ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ on Wednesday (12.12.18) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Emily told talkRADIO: “My oldest one said to me recently, ‘Can you actually fly?’ and I had to say I can’t actually, so I worry I might just continue to be disappointing in real life to them.”
The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ actress was initially “intimidated” by the prospect of portraying such a legendary character – but she ultimately adored playing the nanny.
She gushed: “I was initially a bit intimidated because it’s such iconic territory to walk through, more than anything I just adored playing her so much. I think she’s such an extraordinary character, so I just tried to approach her as I would any other role, really.”
Emily was pleased to learn that Julie Andrews – who portrayed Mary Poppins in the classic 1964 film – had “nothing but praise” for her, replying that it was “very cool of her” and “very gracious”.
Emily also admitted she hasn’t actually spoken to the 83-year-old film veteran yet, but she was happy when Julie told director Rob Marshall that she was pleased with his creation.
The ‘Girl on the Train’ actress said: “I haven’t spoken to Julie yet but I hope to speak to her because I know she’s just seen it and wrote Rob Marshall the most beautiful email about it, and loved it – so that meant a lot to all of us.”
Emily was joined at the premiere by some of her ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ co-stars, including Emily Mortimer, Colin Firth and Ben Whishaw.

Russo brothers say Superman is one of the hardest characters to get right

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe and Anthony Russo think Superman is one of the hardest characters to get right on film.
The acclaimed directing duo feel it’s more difficult to work with the most powerful superhero characters and even though they’ve never helmed a Superman film, they’ve used the iconic character to highlight their point.
Anthony said: “The more powerful a character is, the more difficult to deal with that character on a narrative level.
“As storytellers, and the way we explore characters, we always look for vulnerabilities in characters because that’s where characters become interesting.
“They’re superficially interesting in their strength, but they get much more depth when you find where they don’t have that kind of strength. In general, the more powerful a character is, the more tricky that is.”
Superman is one of the most powerful superheroes ever created.
And yet, over recent years, filmmakers have struggled to turn the popularity of the character into glowing reviews.
Speaking to Business Insider, Joe explained: “He’s a very difficult character. You have to find an emotional flaw or weakness in the character in order to make them vulnerable.”
Meanwhile, Joe and Anthony recently claimed that ‘X-Men’ and ‘Deadpool’ characters will soon be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The brothers – who helmed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ – are confident that some of the biggest movies and stories in the superhero universe will soon overlap.
Speaking about the possibility, Joe said: “I’m sure of it [happening soon].”

Jason Momoa hasn’t seen Aquaman

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa still hasn’t watched ‘Aquaman’.
The 39-year-old actor plays the central character in the new James Wan-directed superhero movie, but Jason has admitted he’s still not seen the film because he’s been waiting to watch it with his children.
The Hollywood star – who has kids Lola, 11, and Nakoa-Wolf, ten, with his wife Lisa Bonet – said: “Here’s the thing – I have two babies aged ten and 11.
“They were on set for the whole filming and they made me promise them that I wouldn’t watch it until I can watch it with them.
“I want to share it with my children and sit and hold their hands – it’s a rare moment for a father and generally, they can’t watch the things I do!”
Jason is, perhaps, best known for his starring role in the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’.
But the actor – who married Lisa in 2017 – admitted playing Khal Drogo hasn’t made him an obvious candidate for other major roles.
He told ‘The Graham Norton Show’: “I didn’t get much work after that.
“I mean, what do you do with that? He doesn’t speak English, he’s not funny and he just hurts people. I played that character well so it was a bit challenging afterwards. People would literally say, ‘Wow, you speak English!'”
Meanwhile, Jason previously admitted he loves spending quality time with his family when he’s not working.
He shared: “I love being with my kids around nature.”

Lily Collins loves to styles herself on shoots

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Collins styles herself on her photo shoots.
The 29-year-old screen beauty is Glamour UK’s digital cover star for December and the ‘Love, Rosie’ star chose her own outfits, styled her own hair and makeup and specifically requested for all the photos to be untouched and she enjoys taking control because she likes to unveil different sides to her.
Lily told the publication: “I love expressing different sides of myself. It’s a process that allows me to constantly surprise myself, rediscover and push myself in ways I wouldn’t have felt comfortable with a couple of years ago.”
The ‘To The Bone’ actress went on to explain that she feels more empowered than ever before due to the changing attitudes towards women in Hollywood, and the bravery of other women is inspiring her to “speak out” and own her truth.
Lily – whose father is singer Phil Collins – said: “I’ve realised that I can’t control what other people think of what I have to say, but I can control how I say it and where it’s coming from. So many women have come out and spoken about things that people would have assumed would have been the end of them.
“Now it is embraced for us to speak out. I’m attracted so strongly to people who are brave and outspoken and very much themselves, so I thought, ‘Why can’t I be that?’ It takes practice and I’m not fully there yet, but I’m doing my best to take those steps.
“Hopefully one day this won’t even have to be a conversation. That’s my hope that we won’t have to say, ”I’m so glad you’re hired because you’re a female.’ ”
