Coronation Street boss confirms character death

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ bosses have confirmed a character will die when the factory is knocked down in a “colossal stunt”.
Executive producer Iain MacLeod has teased supporters they can expect to see Underworld all fall down in 2019, and while the roof collapse looks to be an accident at first, it will later transpire that someone did it on purpose.
He said: “It’s one of the biggest things we’re doing in the next year. We’re knocking the factory down in March in a colossal stunt.
“It will at first appear to be an accident, but will then be revealed to be a mystery and it’ll have been some kind of criminal enterprise that causes it all to fall down.
“Somebody will be dying in said collapse. I’m not going to tell you who that is or who pulls the factory roof down! It’s going to collapse. The roof will fall in.”
This Weatherfield tragedy will eventually lead to the creation of the next ‘Coronation Street’ “super villain” – just months after the death of the cobbles’ latest serial killer, Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).
He said: “It plays out over four or five months. The resolution of a whodunit is so fundamental to the enjoyment of a viewer, so we want to keep that under wraps.
“It’s a community story – everyone is out of a job temporarily, there are lots of financial and lifestyle stories spinning off from it. They emerge from the big incident.
“It will have ripples that extend into the next six to 12 months and will eventually see the coronation of our next super villain. This is the beginning of creating the next iteration of the ‘Corrie’ bad guy.”
However, Iain insists the new ‘Corrie’ villain will be different to evil Phelan.
He added: “We’d never try to recreate that character because he was so unique – but we’re trying to design a new, properly ‘Corrie’, through-and-through villain.
“The factory collapse will be the start of that process.”

Noel Gallagher accuses brother Liam of never caring about Oasis fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher has accused his brother Liam Gallagher of not caring about Oasis fans.
The ‘Wonderwall’ hitmaker is adamant that if his former bandmate – who he has been at loggerheads with ever since he quit the band in August 2009, following a huge backstage bust-up between the two siblings – was serious about getting the group back together, the 46-year-old singer wouldn’t have “walked off stage 25 times” when he was in the ‘Some Might Say’ band.
Speaking about Liam’s notoriety for turning up late to gigs and often not completing their shows during their heyday in the mid-90s and early 2000s, Noel fumed: “Liam wants to do it for his ego – he never gave a s*** about the fans.
“He wouldn’t have walked off stage 25 times in his career if he gave a s*** about the fans.”
The 51-year-old rocker says, despite his younger sibling’s constant pleas to reform the iconic rock band, he wouldn’t even reunite the Britpop group if he had just £50 to his name.
On whether he’d ever agree to reunite Oasis, he told Mojo magazine: “Not a cat in hell’s chance.
“At the beginning I would have said to my management, there’s a magic number.
“If it reaches that magic number I’ll do it.
“Give me a shout. A couple of monster gigs.
“Even a tour of the big cities, a world tour, stadiums, burn a load of money, buy a yacht, buy a plane, and another house, then go back to what I’m doing. Easy. I wouldn’t even have to travel with the ****.”
Noel says that Liam’s jibes towards his wife Sara MacDonald on Twitter – which have seen the ‘Songbird’ songwriter call his sister-in-law a “witch” – have ruined the chances of there ever being a reunion.
He added: “That thing about my kids and my wife. No way. If I had 50 quid (pounds) left in my pocket I’d rather go busking. No way, I can’t do it.”
Noel says he’s laughing all the way to the bank, as every time Liam plays a solo gig, he earns royalties for the songs he performs which he wrote.
Suggesting the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker is “angrier” as a result, Noel said: “He’s got his thing now – which is effectively my thing – and when he’s headlining Finsbury Park (London) I’m sitting here watching ‘Match of the Day’ getting a PRS (the Performing Right Society) cheque for him playing my songs. But instead of making him happy, it’s made him even worse, it’s made him even angrier.”

The 1975’s Matty Healy wants next LP to be band’s Nebraska

OHMYGOSSIP — Matty Healy wants The 1975’s next album to be their ‘Nebraska’.
The frontman has admitted that Bruce Springsteen’s iconic 1982 LP – which was made up of demos he’d recorded without the E Street Band – has been a big influence on the group’s upcoming ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ release, which is the follow-up to ‘A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships’.
He told NME: “When I was making the last record that wasn’t trying to make a particular thing. Of course, at times, I wanted to make [My Bloody Valentine’s]’ ‘Loveless’ of course, or at times I wanted to make ‘OK Computer’ – there were all these types of things. [Coltrane’s] ‘Blue Train’.
“On this record you can hear that at times I want to make my ‘Nebraska’ [Bruce Springsteen’s sparsest album] or I want to make my ‘Immunity’ by Jon Hopkins. I’d like it to be a moment-in-time record like a ‘Nebraska.’ ”
The band’s fourth album is set to be released in May – just six months after its predecessor – but Matty insisted fans can expect very different content.
He explained: “No, what I’ve realised is it’s never going to be a continuation or an association with ‘A Brief Inquiry’. It’s a completely different record.
“Six months now is the same as what three years was before. Think about the amount of s**t that happens in six months’ time. It will be a different thing and a different time.”
Meanwhile, Matty has also teased a week-long residency paying homage to each era of The 1975.
The ‘Chocolate’ hitmaker took to Twitter to share his idea to perform music from the band’s albums – including their latest release – and their early EPs at a small venue in the UK, with the same production they had on each supporting tour for the records.
He tweeted: “I REALLY wanna rent out a venue for a week at end of campaign and do:
1st night : Ep’s
2nd: The 1975
3rd: ILIWYS
4th: ABIIOR
5th: NOACF
6th: GREATEST HITS LOLL
All with the same production and lighting of each era etc (sic)”

The Strokes announce 2019 comeback gig

OHMYGOSSIP — The Strokes have announced their first show for 2019.
The ‘Last Nite’ rockers – whose last live performance was in 2017 – will make a comeback on July 11 as they hit the stage at BBK festival in Bilbao.
The group confirmed the exciting news late on Monday night (17.12.18) as they shared a snap of a map with a pin in the Spanish city.
They wrote: “See you next year Bilbao! #BilbaoBBKLive”
Weezer, Thom Yorke, Idles and Suede are also set to headline the event next summer.
While the group – who formed in 1998 – haven’t released an album since ‘Comedown Machine’ five years ago, frontman Julian Casablancas toured the UK this year with his band The Voidz.
Strokes bandmate Albert Hammond Jr. previously said they had no plans to “split up”, despite his own solo career doing so well.
He insisted: “Definitely not, in fact, the bigger were I to get, the more likely they would be to both exist.
“I know The Strokes will be a band, whatever. I don’t think we’d ever say we’ve split up because we’ve been together too long to do that.”
Last year, Albert’s father claimed that the group had been back in the studio recording their sixth studio LP with producer Rick Rubin.
The band denied it at the time, and frontman Julian later took the opportunity to shoot down rumours and admitted he was “focused” on his other project The Voidz.
However, he did tease that new music would come out in the future.
He said at the time: “I’m really focused on The Voidz right now. Some new stuff will come out soon. With The Strokes, I don’t know – there’s no news right now.”

Victoria Beckham’s label posts loss

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham’s eponymous fashion label suffered losses of £10.2 million in 2017.
The 44-year-old singer-turned-fashion designer – who launched her brand in 2008 – saw losses increase from £8.2 million, even though the luxury fashion line enjoyed higher sales in 2017 across its accessories, clothing and eyewear range raising the revenue to £42.5 million from £36.4 million.
The losses come despite her husband David Beckham giving Victoria Beckham Ltd a £8.5 million cash injection in 2016. As well as the filed losses as of the end of December 2016 the brand still owes David’s DB Ventures that money.
Documents filed by her brand insist that shareholders are “committed to reducing the loss and expect to break even in the medium term” and attributed the losses to the fact that Victoria Beckham Ltd has been “investing for future growth and building its senior leadership team”.
The expansion has been achieved with £30 million cash invested in the company last year by NEO Investment Partners, which now has a minority holding in VBL.
NEO was responsible for redesigning the fashion label’s website, sales distribution and stores.
Despite the company figures. the Spice Girl celebrated the brand’s 10th anniversary with her first show at London Fashion Week in September, and the star also experienced success with her capsule beauty collection with ‘Estee Lauder’ and her limited edition US collection with retailer, ‘Target’.
VBL also went through a major shake-up internally last year as the brand appointed fashion industry veteran, Ralph Toledo, 67 – who previously served as the chief executive of Chloe – as chairman of the company alongside former Diane von Furstenberg Chief Executive Paolo Riva who was made CEO of the self-titled label in September.
At the time, Riva said: “We will continue to invest in growth markets such as the US and Asia whilst also ensuring we have the right strategy to ensure profitability over the medium term.
“I look forward to working with Victoria and team to steer the brand to the next phase.”
The label trades from its iconic flagship store in Mayfair, London, their website and in Hong Kong via their 400 stockists in over 50 countries.

Torvill and Dean stars had skating crash course

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Torvill and Dean’ stars Will Tudor and Poppy Lee Friar were taught enough “to be comfortable” on the ice.
The pair are appearing in the new ITV drama about skating legends Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill, and while they trained for two hours a day for a few weeks they used “doubles” for many of the big moments.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Will said: “We [are] able to go backwards but we don’t show that in the actual movie.
“The idea was that we’d be comfortable enough on the ice so that we could do the scenes on the ice and that would be fine. But we did have doubles.”
He insisted they “did do bits of routines”, which follows the previous decision from programme bosses to not allow them to perform the film’s climatic dance.
Torvill and Dean competed in the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo and made history by scoring 12 perfect sixes from the judges.
The triumphant pair became the highest-scoring performers of all time after skating to Maurice Ravel’s ‘Bolero’, and their performance was watched by a British television audience of more than 24 million people.
Executive producer Emily Dalton recently said: “We hope people don’t feel robbed. But anyone who has seen anyone do the dance will know no one can do it like them.”
Despite the pressures surrounding the drama – set to air on Christmas Day (25.12.18) at 9.15pm on ITV – Poppy has now revealed they were able to get in the right frame of mind as actors.
She said: “When we’re doing our scenes we’re really just thinking about our characters and scenes, and less about the reality that we’re playing these icons.”

Corrie: Amy Barlow will get pregnant in 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ boss Iain MacLeod has confirmed Amy Barlow will get pregnant in 2019.
The ITV soap’s new producer has revealed that Elle Mulvaney’s alter ego will be expecting a baby next year as the show looks to balance the emotional and comedic sides of the major storyline.
Iain told Digital Spy: “The story becomes more than being just about a teenage pregnancy. It becomes about family and Steve and Tracy’s relationship – it forces them to instantly grow up and be parents for the first time in history.
“It’s really good – it gives a leading role to Elle Mulvaney, who deserves the chance to step up and do something a bit more grown up. I’m very much looking forward to that.”
The cobbles boss even suggested the story – which will see Steve (Simon Gregson) and Tracy McDonald (Kate Ford) trying to cope with the surprise news – could have a ‘Family Guy’ twist.
He added: “It’s also really funny. Steve and Tracy dealing with a teenage pregnancy is not like a normal couple dealing with a teen pregnancy!
“There are scenes reminiscent of Peter Griffin in ‘Family Guy’ – Steve goes fully postal at certain times. It’s very funny, classic Steve with that ‘Corrie’ heart. It’s heartbreaking but ridiculous at the same time.”
The 14-year-old schoolgirl – who is played by 16-year-old actress Elle – will see her world turned upside down when she discovers she is expecting a baby.
It was recently reported that when her parents discover her pregnancy kit they will hit the roof, with Tracy threatening to “kill” the boy responsible.

Danielle Lloyd wants twin girls

OHMYGOSSIP — Danielle Lloyd hopes to have twin daughters by next Christmas.
The 34-year-old model – who has sons Archie, eight, Harry, seven, and five-year-old George with ex-husband Jamie O’Hara and Ronnie, 15 months, with fiance Michael O’Neill – is planning to jet to Dubai to undergo controversial gender selection treatment in the next few months and it would be a “dream come true” if she manages to successfully have two female embryos implanted.
She told Closer magazine: “Next year, if all goes to plan, I’ll have my baby girl.”
“And as there’s an increased chance of twins with IVF, we might end up with twin daughters next Christmas.
“Imagine that! That would be a dream come true. I’d love twin girls – that would definitely increase the girl to boy ratio in our household. That would make me a mother of six – wow!”
Danielle admitted lots of people have been trying to dissuade her from having the treatment but she’s determined to have a daughter.
She said: “People think I only want a girl so I can dress her up, but that’s not the case.
“I want a girl because of the amazing relationship I have with my mum. I can’t imagine going through life and not having that with a daughter.
“Plus, my boys are amazing but they’re going to leave me when they get girlfriends aren’t they?
“Everyone has been trying to put me off but I’m going to do it anyway. I don’t want to get to 60 and regret not having my girl.”
Ahead of undergoing the treatment, the brunette beauty wants to be as healthy as possible.
She said: “Come January, I’m going to really focus on getting my body as healthy as I can for the gender selection procedure.
“I don’t have to follow a specific diet, but you’ve got to inject yourself every day and it can be quite strenuous on your body.
“Stress levels are a big issue – you’ve got to relax and keep your stress levels as low as possible.
“That’s why it’s good we’re going to Dubai to do it – I can relax in the sunshine.”

Corrie will have standalone episode for Carla Connor’s breakdown

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ will have a standalone episode focused on Carla Connor’s breakdown.
Alison King’s on-screen alter ego will see her mental health deteriorate next year after the roof of the Underworld collapses and kills another cobbles character.
New boss Iain MacLeod told Radio Times: “This will trigger a massive story for Carla because it impacts massively on her mental health. She feels correctly that everybody is out to get her and she spirals off into a slightly delusional state.
“We’re doing something a little bit stylised, like the Ashley story I did at ‘Emmerdale’, but it won’t be quite as extreme as that. It’s a standalone episode that will be both mental heath focused and Carla focused. It will also be the reveal to the audience of who is behind the factory roof collapsing.
“I’d hesitate to put a diagnosis on what it is affecting Carla, but the factory collapse has lots of unexpected offshoots into areas that give our amazing cast a chance to show off their acting chops.”
The producer also explained he hasn’t decided the specifics of the episode yet because he doesn’t want to deviate too far from the overall feel of ‘Corrie’.
He explained: “We’re inside Carla’s head, but I’m still unsure about how far we explore what’s real and what’s not real.
“Other soaps have gone right off the deep end of that to very good effect, but Corrie is a different beast and I think you mess with the parameters of Corrie’s genre to your peril. We’ll be careful with it.
“The touchstone for me was Gary Windass’s PTSD meltdown around the time of the tram crash. It was more exaggerated things that were happening rather than hallucinatory.”

Coleen Nolan spending Christmas with ex-husband

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan is spending Christmas with her ex-husband Ray Fensome.
The couple’s 10-year marriage ended at the beginning of this year after they endured a “hellish” 12 months which left their romance “truly dead”.
However, since they legally separated the pair have never got on better and so Coleen asked Ray to return to the family home for the festive holiday so he can spend Christmas with her and their 17-year-old daughter Ciara.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (18.12.18), she said: “The last couple of years have been really painful for both of us, last Christmas wasn’t a great one for us because we knew it was the end. And we’ve split up and we’re now divorced and we’ve never ever been as good friends as we are now. He’s coming and spending Christmas. For me, I couldn’t think of anything worse than Ray being on his own at Christmas, we’ve got Ciara together so he’s coming over on Christmas Eve and he’s going to stay until Boxing Day and we’re all really looking forward to it. Sometimes I do think, obviously depending on the circumstances, but I think sometimes life is too short to hold on to anger and grudges.”
Coleen – who also has sons Shane Jr, 30, and Jake, 26, with her ex-husband Shane Richie – admits even she has been surprised at how well she and professional guitarist Ray are now getting on since they stopped being husband and wife.
She added: “We really didn’t each other married, I couldn’t stand him, but now I like him. I’m really excited. I think you’ve got to think about the good times as well as everything that went wrong, we had many years that were great.”

Kelly Clarkson planning ‘snowy Christmas’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Clarkson wants her children to have a “snowy Christmas”.
The 36-year-old star has River, four, and Remington, two, with her husband Brandon Blackstock and she has admitted she wants to get away from her home in California for the festive season because she wants her youngest child to experience a proper white Christmas.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “I’m definitely not spending it in this state. I gotta go somewhere … We’ve got some cool surprises for [the kids], but our big thing that our whole family knows is we’re actually travelling somewhere for the holidays, so it’s a snowy Christmas and we’re doing the whole thing.”
The ‘Piece By Piece’ singer explained that Remington hasn’t seen snow yet, and admitted she is already looking forward to the excited snaps they’ll get over the period.
She added: “My two year old has never seen snow so and he’s very animated. I don’t know where he gets it from but it should be pretty funny, the pictures.”
Her comments come after Kelly joked becoming a parent had turned her into “a vampire” after realising she is “not a morning person”.
Kelly – who is also stepmom to Brandon’s daughter Savannah, 17, and son Seth, 13, from a previous marriage – said: “I’m not a morning person. I love the night. I am a vampire.”
It’s not just waking up early that ‘The Voice’ judge hates, as she previously revealed she loathes exercise, and revealed she much prefers spending her spare time enjoying a glass or two of red wine.
She spilled: “This just in … I still hate working out. I’m sweaty, red, and not any thinner people say it’s good for your heart but people also say red wine is good for your heart. I mean, I’m just stating facts here people. Who am I to ignore science?”

Emily Blunt worries her children will be bullied like her

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt “worries irrationally” her children will be bullied at school because she was teased by her classmates for having a stutter as a child.
The 35-year-old actress can vividly recall being mocked for her speech impediment as a youngster when she was at school and now she fears that her two daughters, Hazel, four, and Violet, two, will face similar treatment from their fellow pupils.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, the ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ star said: “Like every mother, I worry irrationally about my kids and want to make sure they are safe and taken care of and not teased. But teasing and bullying are part of it. I just say, ‘Look, everyone has got something and this is just your thing,’ to these kids who have severe stutters and come and talk to me. And it’s good to have a setback, because you have to overcome something and you learn a lot about yourself by overcoming something.”
Recalling what it was like to be ridiculed for her stutter at school, she added: “Kids didn’t understand why I couldn’t speak properly. I think I looked funny and sounded funny and kids were like, ‘Why can’t you say it? Just say it!’ And even a teacher of mine was like, ‘Spit it out!’ ”
Emily – who raises her kids with her husband John Krasinski – admits she still sometimes experiences her stutter now as a grown woman, especially when she is speaking on the phone.
The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ star said: “I still stutter and I will always be a stutterer. I still stutter if I am really tired or on the phone. I am really bad on the phone still … It’s a very misinformed issue that a lot of people, a lot of adults, are still going through.”

Sandra Bullock never put her on-screen kids in harms way while filming ‘Bird Box’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Bullock always made sure she was “attached” to her two on-screen children during the filming of ‘Bird-Box’.
The 54-year-old actress plays Calorie Shannon in the new Netflix thriller – which tells the story of a woman and a pair of children, who are among the survivors after an alien invasion= and the brunette star revealed that her main “goal” was to make sure she safely returned the two kids their parents and “never put them in harms way”.
Speaking to Collider, Bullock said: “You know what, I never put them in harms way, I always made sure there was an element or an ability to rip the blindfold off, I always knew where they were, my feet were always touching them.
“It was always part of my body attached to them. If we were shooting from the waist up it was my hands, it was my feet, it was my feet wrapped around their feet, there was always an element of me adhered to those kids so I knew where they were.
“I needed to return them to their parents at the end of the day. That was my goal!”
In the post-apocalyptic movie, the family must navigate their way through a river on a small rowing boat while blindfolded.
Sandra also confessed that working with the film’s Danish director, Susanne Bier, 58, made her “agitated” initially because she would use tactics to make the actors feel like they were really in an alien-invasion situation.
Bullock added about the filmmaker: “She allows you to hang yourself. She allows you all the rope in the world and the angrier I would get it because I was always out of breath because there was always a series of me running back and forth just to get the scene started just to get it.
“I would find i would get so agitated, she wouldn’t say rolling, I couldn’t see anything, then I’m dizzy because i’ve been running and then I’d have to go.
“I think all of that was on purpose to get us to let go of something that might be a crutch or a tool that we would use that would have no bearing if we were really in this situation.”
Netflix’s ‘Bird box’ is out on Friday (21.12.18).

Emma Stone says women in Hollywood aren’t ‘rivals’

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Stone doesn’t understand the perception of women as “rivals” in Hollywood.
Despite the 30-year-old actress playing Rachel Weisz’s love rival in their upcoming film ‘The Favourite’ – a period drama set in the court of Queen Anne – she “finds it very strange” when people assume that she feels threatened by other actresses in Hollywood.
In an interview with the Guardian, she said: “I find it very strange, the narrative attached to women that they are in competition.
“I’ve felt more competitive energy from men – at least in work experiences. It’s almost like sibling rivalry.
“Or perhaps there’s something threatening about a woman asserting herself in that dynamic.”
Rachel, 48, went on to explain that most of her friends in the industry are female, and admitted she also feels the idea of competitive women is a “trope” used to create fiction.
She continued: “Yeah, lots of my best friends are women, the idea of the competitive, bitchy woman is a traditional trope from Hollywood stories.
“The b***h, the vamp … the list goes on. It’s creating a fiction. Everything permeates into cliche. It’s a safe place.”
The ‘La La Land’ actress added: “And it’s a cliché, because they’re written by men. Mostly, women in films are fighting over a man.”
The ‘Mummy’ actress then insisted that the idea of women fighting over a man exists for male “wish fulfilment” and the idea that an individual is so desirable it causes women to fight.
She said:”It’s a wish-fulfilment fantasy of being hot and desirable and wanted by women so much that they’re ready to kill each other. You can understand it, from that point of view.”

Jason Momoa was asked to appear shirtless for fully-clothed scene in Aquaman

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa was asked to take off his tank top and appear “shirtless” for a scene in DC’s ‘Aquaman’ despite not “being there yet”.
The 39-year-old actor plays the central character in the new James Wan-directed superhero movie, and he was in the process of “starving himself” to get the chiselled look when producer Peter Safran requested he take off his shirt off even though the star felt he “wasn’t ready”.
Speaking to Collider, Momoa said: “I get called into an office and they did a test and I wasn’t supposed to be shirtless in this scene, I was supposed to have a tank top on because we weren’t ready to do the shirtless scene yet because it takes a long time, you have to starve yourself.
“I wasn’t ready yet and Peter Safran is like ‘we really want you to do this scene shirtless’ and i’m like ‘dude I’m not there yet’. So James [said] they really wanted that to happen, f**k it so I took the damn shirt off.
