Nicolas Cage: I’m still inspired by Prince

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage continues to feel inspired by Prince.
The 54-year-old actor has revealed he still bases many of his decisions on the late singer’s unique approach to life – even though he barely knew him.
Nicolas explained: “It’s no secret that I’ve been, and still am, a huge fan of Prince. I thought, like many of us, that he was a pure artist.
“I would and still do think about what he would do – like if I have a question about, ‘Should I do this or should I do that?’
“I often think about what his perception would be even though I didn’t know him. But I was a fan and I would go to his concerts and the best concert I ever saw was in England.
“I wrote him a letter thanking him for the wonderful music – I found out that he liked Sherry and when I was in New York making a movie, I went to a store in New York and I bought a bottle of Sherry and I sent it to him with a note.”
Nicolas also met Prince – who died in April 2016 – at Sir Elton John’s Hollywood Oscar party, where the iconic musician declined to have his photograph taken with him.
Despite that incident, Nicolas remains a huge admirer of the ‘1999’ hitmaker.
He told Collider: “I never ask anyone for a picture but I remember asking for one with Prince because of the monumental way that he motivated and inspired me.
“I asked him for a picture and he said, ‘No, I just can’t’ and I was in shock but I understood and I still love him. I had read some of his interviews and I knew that he didn’t like the idea of the photograph ‘taking his soul’.
“He was very sensitive about technology but I still find it amazing that I got to meet one of my heroes when we had that exchange.”

Rihanna’s vocal producer teases her ‘incredible’ new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna’s long-time vocal producer has teased her ninth studio album is sounding “incredible”.
Kuk Harrell – who worked with the star on her last LP ‘ANTI’, as well as co-writing her hit songs ‘Umbrella’ and ‘Only Girl (In the World)’ – recently responded to one of the 30-year-old singer’s fans who asked for an update on Rihanna’s new music.
During an Instagram Live, they asked him: “How’s R9?”, to which he replied: “R9 is great. R9 is amazing. It’s incredible, And that’s all I’m going to say.”
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker last updated fans in September, promising new music is “coming”.
Rihanna hasn’t released any new music since 2016’s ‘ANTI’, but she assured fans that she’s working on new material and, although it’s not quite ready yet because she’s been busy focusing on her lingerie line, her make-up collection and film work – including ‘Ocean’s 8’ – the new tracks will arrive in the near future.
Responding to a fan on Instagram who asked where her new music was, she replied: “I know I know sis. I’m doing music. Simultaneously doing lingerie, makeup, film, amongst a couple other things that I enjoy.
“When the music is ready, you won’t have to ask for it. But it’s coming. Just not today sis. I’m hype too tho, it can’t come soon enough. (sic)”
The Bajan beauty hasn’t given much away when it comes to her next release, but it’s believed she may be gearing up to drop a double-disc album next year.
A source said: “Rihanna wasn’t happy with how her last album performed – even though she loved how it turned out, she knows she needs a new project full of smash hits to avoid two back-to-back flops…she’s currently recording two albums – one full of chart-friendly songs, and another made up of moody and experimental tracks – and is considering releasing a double disc if she feels the songs won’t mesh well on the same album.”
Back in June, Rihanna confirmed that she had been back in the studio but she refused to divulge whether it would be ready in time for this Christmas.
She said at the time: “You’ll have to wait and see.”
There’s no title name yet but her fans have been referring to it as ‘R9’ online.

Gwyneth Paltrow brings In Goop Health Wellness Summit to London

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow’s In Goop Health Wellness Summit is coming to London.
Following the launch of the 46-year-old actress’s health and wellbeing brand in Britain, the ‘Iron Man’ star is bringing the immersive event to the UK capital in June next year and the event will include panel discussions, alternative medicine talks, fitness classes and wellness experiences.
The ‘Shakespeare In Love’ actress admits London has “always been a second home” of Goop and she wants to explore the opportunities the UK has to offer.
Speaking to British Vogue, Gwyneth – who lived in London when she was married to ex-husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – said: “Goop was born in London and it’s always been sort of a second home. We had a great store opening in September and felt incredibly welcomed by the city and also like there’s a real opportunity for us.”
The summit will also explore sexual health, emotional wellness and relationships, and Goop’s chief content officer Elise Loehnen explained that she feels there’s an untapped market for wellness in the UK and hopes that the event can “spark change” in those who attended.
Elise said: “People are really interested and curious and there is probably equal interest in wellness in London [as there is in LA] which is not yet matched by what’s available. It was a no-brainer to bring In Goop Health to London. The hope is that one thing during the day will spark change for you – one thing will really resonate deeply, whether it’s a health tip or the way that you think about your mother or how you’re holding yourself in your relationship. And the hope is that that one thing is potentially life-changing, if that makes sense. Small tweaks spark big changes in our experience.”

She explained: “No matter the criticism I’ve received in my life, I’ve never believed any of it because my family made me feel otherwise.

Corrie boss hasn’t decided on Sinead Tinker fate

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ boss Iain MacLeod “hasn’t decided” whether to kill off Sinead Tinker or not.
The executive producer admits it will become a “harder” decision to do away with the character, who has been diagnosed with cervical cancer, as times goes on because Katie McGlynn and her on-screen husband Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne) have been doing such a great job playing out the hard-hitting plot.
He said: “It’s a really long running story and we genuinely haven’t decided what we are doing with the ending.
“Certainly, the longer it goes on the harder it becomes to kill Sinead because Katie and Rob have been so good in it – they’re almost acting their way off the butcher’s block.
“I have an open mind about it. There’s a beautiful story to tell with an optimistic ending but equally, a very truthful story to tell where it doesn’t work out.”
However, if Sinead isn’t killed off then she looks set to remain on the cobbles for a long time.
Iain added: “As to which is the right one, I’ll get more of a sense at the next writers’ conference.
“If anyone were acting their way onto a long-term tenure on the show, it would be Katie and Rob.”
Katie admitted in October she was grateful for having a huge ‘Coronation Street’ storyline to get stuck into, because it had “been such a while” since she last had to play out a serious plot.
When asked if it is difficult to get back into a serious storyline, she said: “It has been a while … I think this is my sixth year in ‘Corrie’ and I’ve just been playing a ditsy character for so long.
“We’ve had the crash, we’ve had the abortion, but other than that it’s just like a silly, daft character, which is fun but it’s just been such a while since I’ve had to put myself in those shoes.
“I had quite a lot of serious storylines when I did ‘Waterloo Road’, but I’m just trying to image being in her shoes.”

Piers Morgan hospitalised over man flu

OHMYGOSSIP — Piers Morgan was hospitalised over man flu fears – only to be diagnosed with three illnesses.
The 53 year-old TV presenter was in hospital yesterday (18.12.18) where he was diagnosed with bronchitis, laryngitis and sinusitis, just hours after Doctor Hilary Jones told him he was “over the worst” of it on ‘Good Morning Britain’.
Speaking on ‘GMB’ this morning (19.12.18), Piers – who co-hosts the show – said: “Doctor Hilary yesterday diagnosed me and said, ‘Don’t worry you’re over the worst.’
“I ended up in hospital yesterday and got diagnosed with bronchitis, laryngitis and sinusitis.
“Thanks Hilary.”
On Tuesday’s show (18.12.18), Piers declared he was a “sweaty mess” and had chest pain and difficulties breathing – and he later discovered he had contracted two viruses.
He groaned: “10 days into the cold I’ve come out with these terrible sweats all morning.
“Is it the expulsion of demons or could it be the beginning of the end?”
Bosses called Hilary to try to help assess Piers’ issues.
Hilary replied: “It’s run its course, you’ve been suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection.
“By soldiering on it probably kept the virus going a little bit. You are over the worst of it though.
“It doesn’t normally last several weeks, but at this time of year it’s not unusual.”
But just hours later, Piers was forced to go to hospital, where he found out what was wrong with him.

Seann Walsh’s ex Rebecca Humphries considers therapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Seann Walsh’s ex Rebecca Humphries admits she’ll seek a therapist to help her with “trust” issues.
The 33-year-old comedian caused a stir when he was caught locking lips with his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Katya Jones – who is married to fellow professional Neil Jones – in October, but now his ex-partner Rebecca has revealed she wants to “find a way” to get through her heartbreak so she can date again.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Rebecca said: “I am getting on with things but when it comes to dating, it will be tricky to trust anyone again.
“Still, if it takes seeing a therapist to help me learn how to, I’ll do it. I’d rather find a way through this.
“Seann and I haven’t stayed in touch. We won’t be in contact again.”
Seann previously apologised for his “mistake” when he and Katya appeared on BBC Two’s ‘Strictly – It Takes Two’ spin-off earlier this year.
He said: “I made a mistake, which I’m very sorry for – sorry for the hurt that I’ve caused.
“You never think about the extent of the damage that you’re going to do, in a moment of, you know the mistake that you’ve made.
“I’m not perfect, far from it. Our relationship wasn’t perfect. That doesn’t mean I wanted it to end the way it finally did, and I’m very sorry for that.
“I feel it’s also important for me to say that the people that know me the most, that love me, they know that I am not the person I’m being portrayed as. I’m still sorry for what I did, but it’s very important for me to get that out there.”
His apology was issued days after Rebecca broke her silence on the matter and claimed the comic had branded her a “psycho” for suggesting “something inappropriate was going on” between him and Katya.
She wrote: “Those pictures were taken on October 3rd. It was my birthday. I was alone at home when Sean texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink. We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on. He aggressively, and repeatedly called me a psycho / nuts / mental. As he has done countless times throughout our relationship when I’ve questioned his inappropriate, hurtful behaviour. (sic)”

Idris Elba: Luther because is too dark

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba avoids watching ‘Luther’ because it is too “dark” for his young son.
The 46-year-old actor – who has a four-year-old boy, Winston, with his ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth, and a 16-year-old daughter, Isan, from his marriage to Hanne Kim Norgaard – refrains from tuning into the BBC programme, because it is “not the kind of thing” he likes to watch.
He said: “If I’m honest, I try not to watch the show.
“It’s dark, very dark, not the kind of thing I like to watch.
“I’ve got my son, do you know what I mean? We like to watch ‘Shrek’.”
Screenwriter Neil Cross has revealed that that the maverick cop, DCI John Luther, will be returning to complete “unfinished business” on the hit show.
He said: “Now what? It’s a question Idris and I get asked a lot.
“What happened to John Luther after we last saw him striding unbowed through the streets of his city, his blood red London?
“It can’t be over, can it? There’s so much we don’t know. So much unfinished business.
“The thing is, we’ve been asking ourselves the same question. Because we love John and wonder what he’s up to…
“In the end, we picked up the phone to some old friends and asked if they’d like to find out what happens next.
“It turns out, they would. So that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to find out what
happens next.
“Now what? Luther’s coming back. That’s what.”
Wunmi Mosaku will join the cast as new recruit DS Catherine Halliday, and ‘Cold Feet’ star Hermione Norris will play a psychiatrist named Dr Vivien Lake who will help Luther uncover a swathe of brutal murders.
The fifth series of ‘Luther’ – the first episodes since 2015 – will kick off on New Year’s Day.

Saira Khan had first panic attack because of Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Saira Khan had her first panic attack during ‘Dancing On Ice’ training.
The TV star has been training for a couple of months with pro skater Mark Hanretty ahead of the BBC series next month, and she got “so worked up” when they were tasked with showing what she’s learned in front of the other contestants.
She told her fellow ‘Loose Women’ panellists: “For the first time in my life I experienced anxiety, and I had a mini panic attack.
“I didn’t realise what it was but I got myself so worked up, the fact that I had to demonstrate in front of other people what I was doing. And also, a lot of them are better than me.”
Saira, 48, has “never” experienced anxiety before, and she admitted she has been dismissive of people talking about it in the past.
She added: “Never had in my life. I think in the past when people have said ‘I’m a bit anxious about something’ or ‘I don’t feel confident’, I would literally say ‘Get a grip, and get on with it.’ ”
She was left “sweating” and “shaking” on the floor as he tried to calm down, before making herself push on and get back on the ice.
Saira – who also conceded she put herself in this position by sighing up for the figure skating competition – said: “I just thought, I’ve just gotta do this.”
Meanwhile, the star – who was raised in a Muslim household – previously revealed she has warned her mother she’ll be embracing the sparkly and skintight costumes she’s given on the show and won’t be dressing as modestly as she would like.
She said: “I was brought up in a Muslim household where I couldn’t wear what I wanted. I remember watching Jayne Torvill perform Bolero, whizzing round in that floaty dress and thinking, ‘I wish I could wear that.’
“But what I wear has always been an issue in my community – even now, when I’m nearly 50. My mum will still say, ‘Don’t embarrass me’ and I tell her, ‘Mum, I can’t go on the ice wearing a burqa.’
“Bless her. I really want my mum to see that just because I’m an Asian Muslim woman doesn’t mean I can’t do anything I want, given the opportunity.”

Elementary set to end after season seven

OHMYGOSSIP — The upcoming season of ‘Elementary’ will be its last.
The CBS TV series – which offers a contemporary take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic detective Sherlock Holmes – is set to be axed by the US network after seven seasons.
The show – which features Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu – has been a cash cow for producers CBS Television Studios, which has been able to make money due to foreign sales and a Netflix deal.
However, its audience has been dwindling over recent series and the upcoming season – which is poised to air in 2019 – will bring the show to a natural conclusion, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jonny, 46, previously admitted to relishing the opportunity of playing Sherlock Holmes.
He confessed: “It was a good fit. It’s a wonderful character that had been.
“The skeleton for the character was very strong, in the original script. So then, you try to do that justice. And then, getting into the literature, I can tailor that suit to fit me.”
Jonny also revealed his good friend Benedict Cumberbatch – who stars in the popular BBC show ‘Sherlock’ – has been enthusiastic about his performance in ‘Elementary’.
He shared: “Benedict sent me some messages, when he’d first seen the show, and it was really, really nice. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have sent me a text message saying, ‘You suck!’ He’s been very supportive, the whole way.”
Asked what he particularly enjoyed about the role, Jonny added: “He can be quite opinionated. I really like it when he’s talking about subjects that he loves, whether it be lock-picking or bee-keeping.
“I really love the hobby side of him, really. I feel he finds the political stuff a little bit tedious and he’s not so wrapped up in such things.”

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski can’t agree who made the first move

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt and John Krasinski can’t remember who made the first move in their relationship.
The 35-year-old actress and John, 39, have been married since 2010, but they can’t remember – or agree – on which of them made the first move on the other when they met.
Asked who took the risk, Emily said: “Probably me, I think.”
But John quickly replied: “Yeah, right.”
Again, though, Emily – who has kids Hazel, four, and Violet, two, with the actor – insisted she was the one who first made her attraction obvious.
She said: “I think it was me.”
But John questioned his wife’s version of events.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “No. It was me asking for a while and you took some time, and then we finally had a date.”
Meanwhile, Emily recently confessed she “worries irrationally” that her children will be bullied at school.
The ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ star was teased by her classmates for having a stutter as a child, and she fears her kids will suffer a similar fate.
She said: “Like every mother, I worry irrationally about my kids and want to make sure they are safe and taken care of and not teased. But teasing and bullying are part of it.
“I just say, ‘Look, everyone has got something and this is just your thing,’ to these kids who have severe stutters and come and talk to me. And it’s good to have a setback, because you have to overcome something and you learn a lot about yourself by overcoming something.”
Recalling what it was like to be ridiculed for her stutter at school, she added: “Kids didn’t understand why I couldn’t speak properly. I think I looked funny and sounded funny and kids were like, ‘Why can’t you say it? Just say it!’ And even a teacher of mine was like, ‘Spit it out!'”

Duchess of Sussex’s mother ‘rejected invite to royal Christmas’

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s mother has reportedly rejected an invitation to spend Christmas Day with the royal family.
Doria Ragland – who is based in Los Angeles – was offered the opportunity to spend the day alongside her beloved daughter and her husband Prince Harry, as well as the other royals, but she has instead opted to remain in the US, according to People.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who are preparing for the arrival of their first child in 2019 – are set to join the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and other royals at Sandringham on Christmas Day.
Historically, it’s rare that non-family members spend Christmas with the royals, with Meghan’s appearance during last year’s festivities being a notable exception.
By contrast, the Duchess of Cambridge never spent Christmas with the royals until after her marriage in 2011.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s estranged father Thomas Markle thinks his daughter will make a great mother.
The retired lighting director is sure his daughter will be a fantastic parent and Thomas hopes he can reconnect with the former ‘Suits’ actress before the arrival of his grandchild.
He said: “They will produce a beautiful baby – I hope to see a little Meghan or little Harry. I think she will make a great mum … There has to be a place for me. I’m her father and I will be the grandfather to her child. I’m here and she knows it.”
Thomas actually found out Meghan was expecting a baby through a radio show – and he was full of pride when he heard the happy news.
He explained: “The first thing I thought about was holding Meghan in my arms as a newborn 37 years ago. I thought, ‘My baby is having a baby.’ It was a very proud moment.”

Channel 4 announcer makes quip about Stephanie Davis love life

OHMYGOSSIP — A Channel 4 announcer has poked fun at Stephanie Davis’ real-life romance.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress was recently revealed to be in a relationship with co-star Owen Warner, who plays Romeo Quinn, and the channel employee was heard referencing their romance as the credits began rolling on an ‘Oaks’ episode.
He said: “And there was me thinking it was Romeo she was interested in.”
Stephanie clearly saw the funny side of the quip as she took to her Instagram Stories to share a clip of the moment, and added the caption: “Hahahaha.”
The latest episode saw Stephanie’s alter-ego Sinead Shelby left devastated after her husband Laurie Shelby (Kyle Pryor) stormed off after finding out she used to be a prostitute.
Steph is said to have started dating Owen after reprising her role as Sinead on the soap earlier this year.
A source said: “Steph and Owen became friends when she returned to ‘Hollyoaks’ but in recent weeks it’s turned into a romance.
“It’s well known among the cast that they’re dating but it’s very early days for them both.
“Steph is being really cautious and has wanted to keep their relationship out of the public eye.
“They make a really nice couple and all of their friends and co-stars have been really supportive. Everyone just wants Steph to be happy.”
A spokesman for the actress said: “They are in a relationship and they are very happy.”
Steph had a tough time before her ‘Oaks’ return, and recently admitted she tried to kill herself during the height of her alcohol addiction.
She said: “I obviously went through a really bad time and alcohol was my coping mechanism to help with things. In the beginning it was a solution and it helped me, but then it starts to take and take, and in the end I thought I was going to die.
“It was really sad. I did try to kill myself, and then the way I was drinking, because it got quite bad, I was either going to hit my head or my body.
“I couldn’t take it anymore, so it just got to the point where I gave up the fight. I wanted to be me again, because I wasn’t me. I was just a lost soul. It’s sad.”

Julian McMahon wants solo Doctor Doom movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Julian McMahon wants to bring Doctor Doom back to the big screen.
The star played the Marvel super-villain in two movies – in 2005’s ‘Fantastic Four’ and 2007’s ‘Rise of the Silver Surfer’ – and received a mixed response at the time, but he thinks there is an opportunity to bring the Latveria dictator back for a solo outing.
He told Digital Spy: “I would like to do a Doctor Doom movie. I think that character can do his own kind of thing.
“This is at the core of, I think, Marvel stuff – your villains always start as good people, and became what they became because of the elements that happened around them.
“They’re not just born evil. They’re not just crazy. It was circumstance. It was situations. It was challenges of personalities and ego and all those kind of things that just kind of turned the wheels in a different direction.”
In the comics, Victor Von Doom overcame a difficult childhood to become one of the world’s best scientists.
However, he found himself outdone throughout his career by Reed Richards – the alter ego of superhero Mr. Fantastic.
McMahon has suggested there is a lot of potential when it comes to delving into Doom’s backstory to explain how he became who he is.
He added: “Even while I was playing Doctor Doom, we had to find a way… actually, we even kind of explored it with this whole trip to space. “Everyone got affected, and that’s how they got their powers. Well, unfortunately, for Doctor Doom, it scarred him for life.

While Noah Hawley has penned a script for Fox for a possible standalone film, Disney’s acquisition of the company has meant plans for its production have stalled.

Mrs Brown’s Boys family rows kept off set

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Gibney says family rows get left behind for ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’.
The actress – who plays Cathy Brown in the sitcom – is married to the show’s creator Brendan O’Carroll, and while the programme is a real family affair, it has a way of helping them get over any disagreements.
Appearing with Brendan on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’, she said: “Even doing the live show, there’s something magical about the show.
“It doesn’t matter, you could be shouting at each other as you walk through the door, and then as soon as you get on stage, it’s never, ever brought on stage. And by the time you’ve finished, you’ve forgotten what you were arguing about.”
Everyone gets together for the show’s annual Christmas special, and Brendan – who writes the show and plays matriarch Agnes Brown – revealed their grandchildren would be getting a role this time.
Opening up on the offspring, he said: “There’s Eli, who’s gonna be the next comedian. There’s Jamie, who’s going to be a genius, and Felix who’s going to be a wonderful musician.”
Even now, seven years after the series series aired, the family still find their fame surprising at times.
Brendan added: “You’ve no idea how true that is. We open magazines sometimes and we go ‘That’s us!’ ”
Last year’s Christmas Day special was watched by 6.8 million viewers, with the ‘Downton Abbey’ finale in 2015 being the only programme to beat it in the ratings over the past seven years.
The ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ festive special for 2018 will air on Christmas Day (25.12.18) at 10.15pm on BBC1.
