Nick Cannon: Kevin Hart was ‘hit pretty hard’ by Oscars controversy

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Cannon says Kevin Hart’s Oscars controversy “hit him pretty hard”.
The 39-year-old actor and comedian stepped down from hosting the upcoming award show after historic homophobic tweets he had made were resurfaced, and his friend Nick – who defended Kevin at the time of his decision to quit the gig – has now said it was upsetting to see how much Kevin’s mood shifted during the controversy.
Nick, 38, said: “To see a friend reach a moment like that, to be able to share it with him and then two days later the entire energy is shifted, it hit him pretty hard. I know how important that opportunity was for him, how excited he was. He was already telling me his set and jokes and going over what he was going to do.”
Kevin recently appeared on ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’ where openly gay show host Ellen voiced her support for the comedian and said the Academy should allow him to host the Oscars, and Nick couldn’t be happier to have her backing the ‘Night School’ star.
He added: “That’s dope. I love Ellen and she definitely is one of the bosses in the game. When one of the bosses calls for you, that’s always a good look. She’s an entertainment guru that’s been doing it for a long time that we all respect.”
During his appearance on her show, Kevin told Ellen he was reconsidering taking the hosting job, and Nick says he’d love to see him in the prestigious role, even though he doesn’t think Kevin “needs” to do it.
Speaking to People magazine, he said: “If he does do it, in my opinion, it’d be solely just because he wanted to. But he definitely doesn’t need to. I know he doesn’t need to, and that’s one of the reasons I commended the stance he took. He sincerely apologised, but it wasn’t to keep a job. You never want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but you’re not going to be forced or told to do something just for occupation or for money.”

Olly Murs: There’s more chemistry on The Voice than on X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs claims Simon Cowell tried to lure him back to ‘The X Factor’, but says he has more “chemistry” with the judges on ‘The Voice’.
The 34-year-old singer came second on the ITV singing competition in 2009 and returned to host the show’s spin-off ‘The Xtra Factor’ with Caroline Flack in 2011 and 2012, before the duo took on hosting duties of the main show for one year in 2015.
But since last year, Olly has been a coach on rival ITV talent show ‘The Voice’, and has now said that although former boss Simon Cowell wanted him to stay at ‘The X Factor’, he’s having a better time with fellow coaches Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson, and will.i.am.
When asked during an appearance on ‘Good Morning Britain’ if Simon had attempted to lure him back, the ‘Troublemaker’ singer said: “He did. Listen, I love Simon and I love ‘X Factor’, I’ve got nothing but love for the show.
“It wasn’t about money it was more about The Voice judges and the chemistry we had as a team. If one of them wasn’t coming back it might have been a different decision, but I just love the show and the people on it.
“They gave me an amazing opportunity to be a coach and help other people. I’m having a great time on it, it’s great fun.”
Olly was reportedly offered £3 million to return to ‘The X Factor’ as a judge for last year’s series, but he turned it down and the position eventually went to former Take That member Robbie Williams.

Kem Cetinay: Phillip Schofield is my presenting mentor

OHMYGOSSIP — Kem Cetinay says Phillip Schofield has “taken him under his wing” as he prepares for his first presenting job on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 22-year-old reality star – who competed on the ITV ice dancing competition last year – is the show’s new digital reporter, and has said he’s so “nervous” about his first day on the job on Sunday (06.01.19), that show host Philip has had to help mentor him.
Kem said: “I am really, really nervous about Sunday. I’ve got to be able to present in front of Phil and Holly and that makes me feel very nervous.
“But Phil has properly taken me under his wing; he’s been supporting me in rehearsals. He knows it’s a big thing for me so he wants me to do well. He’s been making an effort to show me the ropes and teaching me little tricks.”
Phillip – who hosts the show alongside Holly Willoughby – has shared his wisdom with the former ‘Love Island’ winner, including tips on how to keep his hands busy while he talks.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, Kem added: “I tend to talk with my hands, I can’t help it but Phil told me that I need something to fiddle with, he said he always fiddles with his wedding ring, so for Christmas my mum and dad have bought me one.”
Kem is taking over the digital reporter role from Jordan Banjo, who presented on the show last year but was unable to return due schedule changes.
A source previously said: “Kem’s delighted. It’s his first major TV presenting gig and he’s hoping it will propel him into the mainstream.
“While reality TV will always be in his roots, he’s keen to move away from it now … Kem can still remember some of his ice-skating skills from last year so he may even get his skates back on.”

Hayley Atwell learnt invaluable acting lesson from Jodie Whittaker

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Atwell learned to question her scripts from Jodie Whittaker.
The ‘Christopher Robin’ actress studied alongside the ‘Doctor Who’ star at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was always impressed with the way her friend was never afraid to speak up if she was uncertain about something in her lines.
She said: “I’m so proud of Jode! At university, she was equal parts tomboy and girlie girl – we’d go to fancy dress parties together. But she was also really good at going, ‘I don’t understand that word in that script, what does that mean?’ I’d be too embarrassed to ask. She taught me it’s OK to not get things.”
While the 36-year-old star made her movie debut in 2007’s ‘Cassandra’s Dream’, she still feels like an “apprentice” and is open to making mistakes on her career path.
Speaking to Marie Claire magazine, she said: “When people think you’ve made it for this long, this far, I get the sense they’re not going to mess with you … I’m still very much an apprentice. And I want to make mistakes and burst any bubbles about what an ‘actor’ – she pronounces the word with humorous hamminess – should be.”
Haley also recalled how a “powerful film director” told her early in her career that she could lose her job if she went to her grandmother’s funeral, and though she went anyway, she was determined not to put a foot wrong afterwards in order to not give the filmmaker an excuse to fire her, and she learned a lot from the experience.
She said: “I was still skint then, paying off my student loan, and terrified. I remember on the plane back learning my lines perfectly, thinking, ‘I’m going to blow his mind because he’s going to be waiting to catch me out.’ It was awful. Really s**t. But the point of the story is not to name names and go into gossip, but to realise that moments like that are potentially life-changing and character-building – and that you can grow from them.”

Joan Jett hits out at glam rock sexism

OHMYGOSSIP — Joan Jett thinks rock and roll had a problem with female sexuality.
The ‘Bad Reputation’ star has opened up about sexism surrounding glam rock – particularly in the United States – meant it was harder for women to get the respect they deserved by playing the same style of music as similar male-fronted acts.
Speaking to Metallica’s Lurs Ulrich for his ‘It’s Electric’ show on Apple Music’s Beats 1, she said: “People having trouble with guys wearing makeup and stuff, girls can’t play rock ‘n’ roll. No, girls can master the guitar, they can play rock ‘n’ roll.
“What you’re saying it society doesn’t allow women to access their sexuality in relationship to music. They have to be a certain thing, and that’s it’. Once they do that, they’re w****s, they’re sl**s, they’re d*kes.”
The 60-year-old rock icon pointed to fellow pioneer Suzy Quatro as an example of a woman who deserved more respect and attention than they got in the US.
She added: “Women can play rock and roll, and be a success doing it. Suzy was over in England having hit singles, she couldn’t get anywhere in the states and I’m sure that was the old ‘women don’t play rock ‘n’ roll’ aesthetic.”
Last year, The 1975 star Matty Healy admitted there is still “rampant misogyny” within rock music.
He had come under fire for recent comments in which he hit out at hip hop and “Soundcloud rap” while he was quoted as saying the same kind of sexism “doesn’t happen in rock and roll anymore”.
However, he has now taking to Twitter and said: “Just to clarify I said that misogyny wasn’t ALLOWED in rock and roll now days in a way it is in hip hop – not that it doesn’t exist, that’s maybe a misquote as I’m aware of the misogyny in rocknroll.
“I would never deny the RAMPANT misogyny that exists in Rock n Roll. It’s everywhere and has been a weirdly accepted part of it since it’s inception.
“BUT now looking at what I said – I was simplifying a complex issue without the right amount of education on the subject. (sic)”

Jennifer Hudson and Olly Murs have ‘proper falling out’ on The Voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Hudson has teased a “proper falling out” between herself and Olly Murs on the new season of ‘The Voice’.
The 37-year-old singer will return to screens as a coach on the ITV singing competition on Saturday (05.01.19) night, and has said she got “upset” with her fellow coach Olly during the show, because although they’re friends off-screen, he “stabbed her in the back” when it came to battling for their acts on the show.
She said: “I did get upset with Olly. He really gave it to me. I thought he was my friend. We had a proper falling out.
“He gets me cookies and sends me text messages, but then it turns out he’s battling against me. He just stabbed me in the back, it was so painful.
“I said we weren’t friends any more. It did get really ugly. I couldn’t believe he went that low to do me over like that to me.”
And ‘Troublemaker’ singer Olly, 34, says he felt “genuinely upset” by the exchange, and went to apologise to Jennifer as soon as the cameras stopped rolling.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper at ‘The Voice’ launch, he said: “I genuinely felt upset. I went to speak to her afterwards. I said ‘oh Jen, that was a good battle’ and she just grunted.
“I sold my soul. I lost everything to get that person. I was laying down the law.”
The pair remained tight lipped on which act it was they were fighting over, but it seems Olly came out on top.
Jennifer and the former ‘X Factor’ finalist will be rejoined on the show by fellow coaches Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am, as well as host Emma Willis, when the first episode airs on Saturday.

Brenda Blethyn: Audiences love Vera because she’s authentic

OHMYGOSSIP — Brenda Blethyn thinks the public have “embraced” ‘Vera’ because the titular character “tells the truth and has no pretensions.”
The 72-year-old actress stars as the titular DCI Vera Stanhope in the ITV crime drama, and believes the show is so popular because her character is so complex and different to other female roles on television.
She said: “People have really embraced Vera because she’s good at her job, tells the truth and has no pretensions. She can be a bit caustic if people aren’t doing their jobs, but she can also be very kind.”
Vera is known for remaining quiet about her past on the show, but Brenda insists she doesn’t want a personal storyline or romantic interest for her character, because she’s “married to the job”.
Asked if she’d want to explore more of Vera’s past in future episodes, Brenda said: “No. She is a loner, not lonely. A lot of people are perfectly happy in their own company and find it a release. She is married to the job.”
Brenda has been playing Vera since the show began in 2011, and says she now knows the character so well, she’ll buy clothes to wear on set when she’s out shopping.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I’ve got to know Vera well in the eight years I’ve been playing her. I know what she’d wear – so when I’m out shopping, if I see something for Vera, I’ll buy it. That old hat never changes, though.
“Did you know they’re selling Vera hats on a stall in Newcastle market now? Doing a roaring trade. I stopped for a chat once and a couple came up, saw me and nearly fainted. They’d come up for their anniversary to see some Vera locations and there I was.”
‘Vera’ is set to return for a ninth series – consisting of four episodes – starting on January 13.

Emily Blunt only knows the ‘basics’ of the A Quiet Place 2 plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt “knows the basics” of the ‘A Quiet Place 2’ plot.
The 35-year-old actress starred Evelyn Abbot in the original movie, which was directed by and co-starred her husband John Krasinski, and has said that despite being married to the movie’s helmer, she doesn’t know every detail about the upcoming sequel, because John is still keeping certain things close to his chest.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “I know all; I know everything, No, I know enough. But he’s also writing, so he’s in that sort of vortex. And then I’m sure I’ll read stuff eventually. But I know the basics.”
Her comments come after John claimed he was “mind-tricked” into writing a sequel for the 2018 flick, which sees Evelyn and his character Lee – along with their two children Marcus (Noah Jupe) and Regan (Millicent Simmonds) – in a post-apocalyptic world that has been taken over by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing.
John says it was never his intention to create a sequel, and he was duped into writing his idea for the next movie.
He said: “I’ll be honest with you: I really didn’t want to do the sequel. It was never built to launch sequels, which we all knew, and the studio knew too. But also, I’m a realist.
“I know that when you have a success like this, everyone wants to make another one. I told them to go find another filmmaker and writer, and they said, ‘But don’t you have an idea?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I have a tiny idea,’ so they said, ‘OK, while we’re talking to other people, keep thinking about it’. They basically mind-tricked me into wanting to write it.
“But the idea for it is pretty simple. I’m writing now – I don’t have it fleshed out – but the thought that occurred to me, that really excited me about it, was that most sequels are about the return of a hero or a villain. You take this character that people loved once and you bring them back, and you have to create a new world around them.
“We have the exact opposite setup. We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it. The reason I decided to go back, in the end, was this world is so rich, and it’s so much fun to explore.”

Kate Beckinsale ‘grateful’ for dad memories

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Beckinsale feels “very grateful” she can still remember her father.
The 45-year-old actress was just five years old when her dad, actor Richard Beckinsale, died from a heart attack aged just 31, and she’s thankful she still has memories of him.
She said: “It was such a big loss and so shocking. I’m very grateful I remember him because if I’d been a couple of years younger, I would just draw a blank.”
Among her vivid memories of Richard are the “cunning” ways he was lenient with her, such as when she wanted chips and ice cream for dinner.
She recalled: “My mother would give me 10 reasons why I couldn’t [have them together] but my dad would go, ‘Alright’. It was a disgusting combination.”
After her dad’s death, her mother, Judy Loe eventually embarked on a relationship with Roy Battersby, but Kate wasn’t keen on the idea of moving in with him, his four sons and one daughter.
She said: “I couldn’t think of anything worse, these red-headed, terrifying, farting boys. I was very against boys at the time.
“I’d come from this little Catholic school in Sunningdale and they were in quite a rough state school in Kilburn.”
The ‘Farming’ actress used to help her stepfather sell Trotskyist newspaper The News Line and was always grateful Roy treated her as an “intellectual equal”.
She said: “Intellectually he was quite an imposing force, but he treated me as an intellectual equal. I’m very lucky with the parents I got.”
When it comes to her own family life, Kate – who was previously married to director Len Wiseman and has 19-year-old daughter Lily with former partner Michael Sheen – is conflicted over the idea of having another child.
She added to Tatler magazine: “I definitely would, but then I think ‘Oh God, I annihilated my twenties and I suddenly get a taste of freedom and annihilate myself again?’ But I am open to seeing what happens…”

Adele shuts down touring firm

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele has closed down her touring firm.
The 30-year-old singer told fans in 2017 that she didn’t know if she would “ever tour again” following 15 months on the road in support of her 2015 album ’25’, and it seems she’s now made her decision, as she has closed down her touring firm Remedy Touring LLP.
According to The Sun newspaper, the ‘Hello’ hitmaker has applied to have her business – where she logged her earnings from her live performances – put into voluntary liquidation, which would shut down the business.
The firm’s most recent accounts, which were filed in February last year, revealed she had a £142 million turnover from shows performed between 2016 to 2017, after she performed 123 shows to more than 1.5 million people worldwide on her ‘Adele Live’ tour.
But despite being a huge hit on the road, the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singer – who has six-year-old son Angelo with her husband Simon Konecki – said that touring “doesn’t suit” her, and she would rather continue making music without the pressure of heading out on tour.
In a handwritten note inside the programme for her Wembley Stadium shows in 2017, Adele wrote: “So this is it after 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25, we are at the end.
“Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus, I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is!
“I’ve done 119 shows and these last four will take me up to 123, it has been hard but an absolute thrill and pleasure.
“I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artists have had on me live.
“And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.”

Jodie Marsh wants to ‘bathe in bleach’ after uncovering ex’s lies

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Marsh wants to “bathe in bleach” after discovering the lies told to her by her ex-boyfriend.
The 40-year-old star recently claimed she ended her relationship with Netflix film director Wayne Lennox after finding out he had fathered three children with three different women, and not two kids by two different women as she had been led to believe.
And now, she has taken to Instagram to admit she feels “dirty” about the lies, saying she “feels sick” whenever she thinks about the situation.
She wrote: “I’m feeling better about it all, I just feel dirty and like I need to take a bath in some bleach. Can’t wait for this feeling to go away. Literally feel sick whenever I think of what’s happened my skin hurts from cringing but at least my skin isn’t grey and wrinkly and I look and feel healthy and have a full set of teeth (or veneers Hahahaha) (sic)”
Earlier this week, Jodie slammed Wayne on social media after she discovered his apparent secret child.
She said: “So having spoken to loads of ex girlfriends now, on email, over messenger and over the phone I have just found out that my ex had not two kids by two different women but THREE kids by THREE different women. The whole relationship he hid his third kid from me. Wtf?! My mind is blown. I may have been an easy target and I may have believed his lies for a short while but I am SO happy to have gotten out when I did. I had my eyes opened on NYE as to who he really was and I’m now finding out the extent of his lies. (sic)”
And in a separate post, Jodie claimed she had heard from six of his ex-girlfriends who said they had been told the same story.
She added: “Oh wow!!! The emails are pouring in thick and fast about my ex. I’ve had 6 ex girlfriends email me already – ALL with the same story!! And they’re all lovely girls! Jesus what is it with these men?! I’m so happy I got out so quickly and spotted the signs early on. Thank God for all your support too. No one deserves this and I’m just so happy to have gotten out. OHMYGOSSIP — P. Diddy has thanked his family for helping him through “a state of deep depression” following the death of his ex-girlfriend Kim Porter.
The ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker – whose former partner passed away in November aged 47 – has taken to Instagram to post a picture of his mother and his 12-year-old twins D’Lila Star and Jessie James, whom he had with Kim, as he thanked his family for bringing him “back into the light” after Kim’s death left him in a dark place.
He wrote alongside the snap: “Mama and the babies GOD IS SO GOOD. THE GREATEST!!! I’m the luckiest man in the world. The way my family has been strong has humbled me. They have led me. Ariana Grande’s next single called 7 Rings

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande’s next single will be called ‘7 Rings’.
The 25-year-old singer took to Twitter this week to share bloopers from her recent music video for hit single ‘Thank U, Next’, but just before the video was released, she sneakily revealed the title for her next release.
When one fan asked her what her next single would be, Ariana simply replied: “it’s 7 rings (sic)”
The singer had previously spoken about the rings in the song, when she replied to a now-deleted tweet from a fan in which she listed who the seven pieces of jewellery belong to.
She wrote: “me, vic, courtney, alexa, tayla, njomza, kaydence (and my mom and nonna so technically nine but they got theirs after song was done) (sic)”
And then when asked who had the idea for the song, the ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ hitmaker insinuated that the track was written after her break-up from fiancée Pete Davidson, as she said the inspiration came after a “pretty rough day” in New York.
She said: “well …………. ’twas a pretty rough day in nyc. my friends took me to tiffany’s. we had too much champagne. i bought us all rings. it was very insane and funny. & on the way back to the stu njomza was like ‘b***h, this gotta be a song lol’. so we wrote it that afternoon. (sic)”
Ariana didn’t reveal a release date for ‘7 Rings’, but she could be set to perform the new track when she takes to the stage at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April this year, as she was recently announced as one of the headline acts.
The ‘God is a Woman’ singer, Tame Impala, and Childish Gambino will all perform twice at the annual music extravaganza, which is held over two weekends, between April 12 and April 14, and April 19 and April 21 in Indio, California.

Ashton Kutcher wanted to donate heart to twin brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashton Kutcher wanted to give his own heart to his twin brother, when he needed a transplant at the age of 13.
The 40-year-old actor’s twin brother Michael is alive today because of a heart transplant he had when he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy – in which his heart grew to be four times the size it should be – when he was a child.
And Michael – who is living with cerebral palsy, a permanent movement disorder – has revealed he has a “deep appreciation” for Ashton, as he was willing to give up his own life to save Michael, before another suitable donor was found.
Recalling the ‘That 70s Show’ alum’s generosity, Michael said: “It’s just … I can’t find the words. It’s a connection that you can’t explain. In all seriousness, we’re just very connected … It’s an honour or deep appreciation and a deep love for someone who would sacrifice that for you. I really can’t put words to it.”
Ashton has previously said that Michael taught him people are not all created equally, but Michael insists he doesn’t want people to “feel sorry” for him, because he doesn’t think he got “the wrong end of the stick” by being born differently.
He said: “I think his quote of [how] not everyone’s not created equally, I think that goes back to him feeling sorry for me at a point. He’s right. We aren’t created equally, whether it be a disability or a health issue or whether it be anything, ethnicity, sex. We’re just not created equally. If we were, what’s cool about that?
“I don’t really like to use the word disability, I like to use the word giftability because we’re all created different. We all have disabilities. I think his quote is right on. We’re not born equal, but that’s okay. It’s okay. You may think I got the wrong end of the stick, but having the transplant and the disability and everything, but in my eyes, I got the right end.”
Michael also revealed he encouraged Ashton not to pity him, because he believes he was “put in [his] situation” in order to be an advocate for disability and organ donation.
Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, Michael – who now works with the #BeTheGift campaign, which encourages people to register as organ donors – said: “I am who I am, right? I was put in these situations. Who I am is for a reason. I strongly feel that a major part of that reason is to be an advocate and be outspoken and use the platform that I am to advocate for disability, to advocate for organ donation, and I feel I’ve found my purpose in that.”

Michael B. Jordan is first man to front a Coach campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan is “proud” to be the first male face of Coach.
The 31-year-old actor will be the first man to front a collection for the luxury accessory brand in a new Spring 2019 campaign – and the ‘Black Panther’ star has praised the label’s director Stuart Vevers for his “creative process”.
In a statement, he said: “I’m proud to be the face of Coach men’s. I’ve been a fan of Coach for a long time and truly respect their inclusive and optimistic values. I’m honoured to be a part of Stuart’s vision and creative process.”
The ‘Creed’ star has a longstanding relationship with the retailer, and Stuart admitted choosing him was a “natural step” after getting to know the actor over the past few years.
He said: “I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Michael over the last few years; he has been a true supporter of Coach.
“So it felt like a really natural step to collaborate more closely and create a partnership we can take to the next level.”
Jordan will join the likes of pop sensation Selena Gomez, who’s worked with the fashion house since 2016 and recently fronted her third campaign for the brand.
The 25-year-old singer-and-actress worked with the women’s bag and clothing label on two previous creations and going on to create her own signature handbag range; the Selena Grace collection.
Now, Selena is the face of Coach’s Dreamer purse which features the fashion house’s signature print.
Speaking of the ‘Back To You’ hitmaker’s most recent campaign, Stuart said: “I love the way that we have pushed the Coach gang further this season to be more unique, diverse and just overall cool in their attitude.
“It’s how I see people here in New York enjoying wearing clothes and just feels really relevant to me.”

Saoirse Ronan’s mother ‘protected’ her from abuse in Hollywood

OHMYGOSSIP — Saoirse Ronan’s mother “protected” her from “seedy” Hollywood bosses.
The 24-year-old actress started working in the movie business from a very early age, landing her first role as Briony Tallis in 2007’s ‘Atonement’, which saw the Irish-American star become one of the youngest actresses to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, when she was just 13.
Growing up, the ‘Lady Bird’ star always had her mother Monica by her side ensuring she didn’t become a “victim” of any of the misconduct that has swept through Hollywood over the years, and come to light with the shaming of disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein and the subsequent #MeToo and Time’s Up movements.
Speaking to the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine, Saoirse said: “I don’t know what would have happened if she hadn’t been around.
