John Cleese doesn’t put up with winter

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cleese says people should “get out” of England during the winter because those cold months are so bleak.
The 79-year-old British actor escaped to the Caribbean for a couple of months to avoid the grey and miserable months in the UK and he admits his mood is always lifted when the sun is shining.
Appearing on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Monday morning (14.01.19), which was being hosted by Zoe Ball for the first time today, he said: “I admire anyone who is prepared to live in England in the winter but I don’t see the point in it if you could possible avoid it!
“If you are in love with the grey – I used to say to one of my ex-wives, let’s ‘open up the curtains and let the grey in’ – if you are in love with that, then by all means stay here but otherwise get out until the sun comes out, which these days seems to be about July 3.”
The ‘Fawlty Towers’ actor will return to TV screens in the spring when he appears in the second series of ‘Hold the Sunset’ – a BBC sitcom in which he stars with Alison Steadman as retired neighbours Phil and Edith who are in love and want to start a new life abroad but have their plans disrupted when Edith’s adult son moves back home after leaving his wife and teenage kids.
The ‘Monty Python’ legend was attracted to the show because he wanted to show the audience “how awful” children can be.
He said: “It’s about how awful children are! Which I think anyone old will be happy to agree with!”
The beloved comedian was the first guest on Zoe’s new radio programme, and explained that he had been called onto the show because he was delighted to have appeared on the very first UK breakfast TV show when it made its launched in 1983.
He said: “February the 3rd, 83, I went on the very first UK breakfast TV programme and I went on in my pyjamas because I thought it was quite funny.”

James McVey will invite all his I’m A Celeb pals to wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — James McVey is going to invite all his ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ campmates to his wedding.
The Vamps star proposed to his girlfriend Kirstie Brittain during a New Year’s break to the Lake District and now she has agreed to be his wife he has revealed that all his jungle pals are invited to the ceremony although he’s not sure all of them will be able to make it.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, he said: “I’m going to invite them all. I don’t know who will be able to come John [Barrowman] is in America and Noel [Edmonds] might be in New Zealand but it’s not too far for Harry [Redknapp] so I hope he’ll come, Fleur [East] and Rita [Simons] probably will.”
The 24-year-old singer was worried that he may lose contact with some of his campmates after leaving Australia but his fears have been unwarranted, and the contestants have a group chat in which someone speaks in every day.
James said: “We were so close in the jungle I was kind of worried that some people might disappear, but that hasn’t happened. We have a Whatsapp chat and every day someone is speaking.”
The stars have remained so close that the day the ‘Can We Dance’ hitmaker chose the ring for his bride-to-be, he and his fiancée went for lunch with a few of his co-stars, however, James was worried that his new pal Harry – who helped him choose the engagement band he presented to Kirstie – would spoil the surprise.
He said: “The day I got the ring Kirstie and I went for lunch with Harry, Nick [Knowles] and Fleur. Harry was worried he was going to let the secret slip out because he usually just says what he wants.”

Hugh Grant makes appeal for script stolen in car break-in

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant has made a plea for his stolen bag to be returned to him as it contained a film script with weeks’ worth of notes he had made to prepare for a role.
The 58-year-old English actor had his car broken into and the thief or thieves made off with the all-important script and his children’s medical cards as well as other possessions .
Hugh – who has Tabitha, seven, and Felix, five, with Tinglan Hong and three other young kids with his wife Anna Eberstein – took to Twitter to let his followers know he had been the victim of the crime and ask for the perpetrators to send the script to Coach Films at Ealing Studios, Ealing Green, W5.
The ‘Paddington 2′ star tweeted: “In the unlikely chance that anyone knows who broke into my car tonight and stole my bag, please try and persuade them to at least return my script. Many weeks’ worth of notes and ideas. And perhaps my children’s medical cards. Coach Films ,Ealing St Mary’s Ealing Green W5 5EN* (sic)”
Despite Hugh’s serious plea, his comedian friend David Baddiel
couldn’t resist poking fun at the actor’s dilemma.
David, 54, replied: “I’m sorry. I’ve had very bad writer’s block.”

Billy Connolly: Wearing pink made me popular with the ladies

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Connolly thinks wearing pink as a teenager made him “popular with the ladies”.
The legendary Scottish comedian has admitted that “much to [his] father’s horror” once he started his first job as a welder at a shipyard, he was able to buy some “nice clothes” including pink shirts and underwear which helped him impress girls.
In an extract from his memoir ‘Made In Scotland: My Grand Adventures In A Wee Country’ published in the Daily Mail newspaper, he recalled: “Having a wage meant that in my late teens when I started going out drinking and dancing, I could buy some nice clothes.
“I wore American shirts with long pointed collars, like in the mafia movies, and a three-button suit with vents at the bottom of the trousers. My shoes would be winkle pickers or white moccasins until I got a pair of basketweave shoes with Cuban heels.
“I also bought some pink shirts and pink underwear, much to my father’s horror. The weird thing was that wearing pink made me popular with the ladies, even as it made me deeply suspect among the men.”
After getting dressed up in his fancy threads, Billy, now 76, would hit the pubs in Glasgow and then head to head to Barrowland to the local dance to try and attract a young lady
He said: “After we’d made our breath stink of Scrumpy and cigarettes in the Sarrie, we’d go across the road to the Barrowland to dance. Or, if I am honest, to try and pull a girl.
“The women all stood along the wall and the men stood along the edge of the dance floor. You would pick one and then have to get your nerve up to walk across to no man’s land and ask that all-important timeless question, are you dancing? I didn’t have too bad a success rate at getting the lasses to dance with me – it must have been my three button shirt and Cuban heels.”
Billy – who is living with Parkinson’s disease – has been married to his second wife, comedian-and-psychologist Pamela Stephenson since 1989.

Jess Glynne shocked by her own music success

OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Glynne says it “blows her mind” that she holds the record for the most UK number ones ever held by a British female solo artist.
The ‘Thursday’ hitmaker admits it still hasn’t “sunk in” that she has smashed the previous record and she finds it “really weird” that she has achieved so much in such a short space of time.
She said: “It blows my mind. I don’t think it’s kind of become real in my mind yet. When people say the stats, it feels like they’re talking about another person. It’s really weird. I don’t think it’s sunk in that it’s me.”
And the 29-year-old singer admits it is “really surreal” to be nominated for British Female Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards 2019, where she will face competition from the likes of Florence and The Machine, Lily Allen, Jorja Smith and Anne Marie.
She shared: “It’s really surreal. Obviously, you know, watching the BRITs for so many years it seems like a dream only, and so to actually be nominated is really, really amazing.”
Jess is set to open for the Spice Girls later this year on their mammoth stadium tour and she admits the little girl in her is so excited to be on the road with Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner.
Speaking on ITV’s The BRITs Are Coming, she said: “It’s going to be amazing. I’m so excited; I can’t wait to go on the road with them. It’s going to be so much fun and obviously the little girl in me is like, ‘Ahhh!'”

Hailey Bieber admits insecurities

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Bieber often feels insecure.
The 22-year-old model – who tied the knot with Justin Bieber last year – admitted that she can’t help but compare herself to her famous friends but she is learning to love herself for who she is.
She told Buzzfeed: “I’ve struggled with comparison. I come from a world of modeling where it’s really easy to compare myself to my own friends. You’re just surrounded by a lot of beauty. I would say that every girl struggles with comparing themselves, whether it’s on social media or [something else]. There’s always going to be other women or other girls that you feel insecure around, or that you compare yourself to: What if she’s this and I’m not this? or What if I’m this and she’s this? That is always happening no matter what, you know?”
And Hailey revealed that she often takes social media breaks so that she can concentrate on herself.
She explained: “It just does something to your soul, I think, if you pay too close attention to it. Taking breaks from social media, I think, is really important. I have times where I’ll just take the app off my phone for like a week or a couple of days.
“That’s really freeing in a way because I think I got wrapped up in the urgency of seeing what everyone was doing. It’s almost like you feel this crazy FOMO all the time because you don’t see what’s happening all the time. I think it’s bad for your health — the constant need to be picking your phone up and refreshing your feed just to see what it is that’s going on or what you’re missing. You’re not really missing anything because one way or another you’ll find things out in the world. You’ll find things out that are happening in the world through the news or whatever it is. I just think being able to take a step back off of it and not let it consume your life [is important].”

Aaron Sorkin wants The Social Network sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaron Sorkin wants a sequel to ‘The Social Network’.
The Oscar-winning screenwriter believes now is the time for a follow-up movie to the 2010 David Fincher film and he says producer Scott Rudin is also keen to move forward with it.
He said: “First of all, I know a lot more about Facebook in 2005 than I do in 2018 — but, I know enough to know that there should be a sequel.
“I’ve gotten more than one email from Scott with an article attached saying, ‘Isn’t it time for a sequel?’ A lot of very interesting, dramatic stuff has happened since the movie ends with settling the lawsuit from the Winklevoss twins and Eduardo Saverin.”
Jesse Eisenberg played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 movie and while Aaron has always viewed Zuckerberg as an “anti-hero”, Eisenberg has previously admitted to having sympathy for the tech mogul.
He has said: “Every character I play has to be the hero of his own story, the way we’re all heroes of our own lives. Aaron’s coming at it as the writer, so he’s thinking of it in terms of how the character relates to his story. But it’s very difficult for me to look at the character objectively.”
He added in 2010: “I really view him as an artist. And if you view it in that way, a lot of what he does is not only defensible but necessary. As an actor, if I show up late somewhere or I say something that’s eccentric, it’s totally acceptable – not only that, it’s lauded in some perverse way. Because Mark is a businessman, we don’t give him the same leeway.
“But if you substitute Facebook for the Mona Lisa, then everything in the movie is seen in a different light. His kicking off his friend because he has to protect his painting: I think we would all understand that.
“It’s this very exciting feeling that you’ve got something that’s yours and is original and is some way contributing. Mark creates Facemash in a flurry of inspiration. The end result is really painful for many people, but the creation is really remarkable.”

Keith Lemon’s racy discovery

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Lemon claims he found sex toys in Kerry Katona’s and Katie Price’s homes.
The 45-year-old TV star – who presents the show ‘Through The Keyhole’ in which he snoops around celebrities’ homes – admitted he came across some naughty items at both Kerry and Katie’s houses.
Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, he said: “At Kerry Katona’s, I found a brown bag with a Dracula mask and lady’s soothing stick.
“A lot of celebs have soothing sticks, but not a lot have them in a brown paper bag with a Dracula mask. A bit weird, innit?”
Speaking about Katie’s house, he added: “If you can see someone’s got respect for their house, you respect their house; if they’ve got a dildo by the side of the bed, you think: ‘Well, they don’t give a sh*t, why should I?’
“That was what I found in Katie Price’s house! It was a white, phallic-shaped thing. I said: ‘Is that a dog chew or a dildo?'”
Meanwhile, Jodie Marsh previously revealed she declined an offer to appear on the show because she didn’t want Keith to stumble across any of her x-rated toys.
She explained: “Before I got married to the fella I married that was a mistake, I was celibate for five years.
“I loved it. I’m celibate again now, because I just like it. I don’t want any willies near me. I’m just nothing, I’m asexual. I just like people.”
When asked by Keith whether that meant she was forbidden from having sex with herself.
She cheekily responded: “No you can do that. That’s why I didn’t ever want you coming around here and doing ‘Through the Keyhole’, because I didn’t want you finding things in my house.”
Keith replied: “Because you’ve got all the implements. You’ve got all of those magical instruments.”
And Jodie added: “I was like, ‘No, I don’t want you going through my drawers thank you.'”

Emma Willis: ‘Life is weird without Big Brother’

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Willis has admitted that January is “weird” without ‘Big Brother’.
The TV presenter – who has children Ace, seven and Trixie, two, with husband Matt Willis – was devastated when the show she presented was axed last year and she said entering a new year without a ‘Big Brother’ series to prepare for has left her feeling off-balance.
She told the Daily Mirror: “January has been weird if I’m being honest. When Big Brother finished, everybody was really sad.
“But I think all of us thought it would be nice to have a bit of time in January and not have New Year happen and suddenly you are back into it. But if I am honest I have really missed it.
“It has been lovely to have an extended amount of time at home with the kids but I am someone that likes to keep busy. I miss it. I really, really do.”
Emma previously explained that she was informed of the show being dropped just hours before the new series began and insisted it was impossible to “not feel sad”.
She said: “How am I meant not to feel sad, walking out and trying to host a show I love, knowing that it’s done?
“They could’ve done it a week before so that we all had time to take it in, or a week after so it could bed in.”
Emma added that she and fellow host Rylan experienced mixed emotions throughout the process, adding that the programme’s celebrity version “had more life in it”.
She shared: “Through the series I went from being really angry to really sad, and Rylan went from sad to really angry, so we swapped emotions.
“I just thought there was more life in it, especially the celeb one, which was appointment to view.”

Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue tour to feature in new documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Netflix are making a documentary about Bob Dylan’s ‘Rolling Thunder Revue’ tour.
The streaming service has enlisted director Martin Scorsese to direct a new project about the legendary singer and it will feature interviews with the star.
Netflix told Variety: “‘Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese’ captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975 and the joyous music that Dylan performed during the fall of that year. Part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream, ‘Rolling Thunder’ is a one of a kind experience, from master filmmaker Martin Scorsese.”
However, it has been hinted that the project is not a straight documentary, with a source saying: “There’s a reason the word ‘story’ appears in the title.”
The film is due for release this year, although an exact release date announcement is “months away”.
Scorsese previously directed the 2005 project ‘No Direction Home: Bob Dylan’.
Meanwhile, Dylan and Neil Young are teaming up for a number of concerts together this summer and ‘Old Man’ singer Young, 73, previously described Dylan, 77, as the master of the songwriting craft.
He said: “I’ll never be Bob Dylan. He’s the master. If I’d like to be anyone, it’s him.”
‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ singer Dylan has always acknowledged the similarities in their pair’s early folk work and he once joked it “bothered” him when Young had a hit with ‘Heart of Gold’ which shared many of the hallmarks of his acoustic style.
Speaking to Uncut magazine in 2016, Dylan said: “The only time it bothered me that someone sounded like me was when I was living in Phoenix, Arizona, in about ’72 and the big song at the time was ‘Heart of Gold’. I used to hate it when it came on the radio. I always liked Neil Young, but it bothered me every time I listened to ‘Heart of Gold’. I think it was up at number one for a long time, and I’d say, ‘S**t, that’s me. If it sounds like me, it should as well be me.'”

George Ezra: The BRITs are like the ‘world cup of music’

OHMYGOSSIP — George Ezra has likened the BRIT Awards 2019 to “the world cup of music”.
The ‘Shotgun’ hitmaker – who has received three nods at this year’s ceremony – admits he feels the nerves every year and says it “goes by as a bit of a blur”.
He explained: “It’s nerve-wracking and it goes by as a bit of a blur. It kind of feels like the world cup of music, I remember watching it all the time as a kid. It’s just strange as well seeing how it all works, watching the performances roll out. It’s just an amazing thing to be a part of.”
George has performed at the annual music event before and knows just how scary it can be getting up on stage as a nominee.
Speaking on ITV’s The BRITs Are Coming, he said: “That’s the thing you don’t want to be reminded of. The thing is you’re cool and fine until you see the little red light above the camera go on, and it’s that little red light that says, ‘There’s a lot of people watching you.'”
George has received a nod in the British Album of the Year category for ‘Staying Out to Mars’ whilst ‘Shotgun’ is up for British Single. He will face the likes of Sam Smith, Craig David, Aphex Twins and Giggs in a bid to take home the coveted British Male Solo Artist prize.

Jack Whitehall ready for BRITs chaos

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Whitehall is looking forward to “embracing the chaos” at the BRIT Awards 2019.
The ‘Bad Education’ star is to return to hosting duties at the annual music award show – which takes place at London’s O2 Arena on February 20 – and he can’t wait for this year as he “knows the game” now.
Asked what he is most looking forward to, he said: “I know what it is now, I know the game. You need to be able to think on your feet and throw a few punches and embrace the chaos, not fight it.”
The 30-year-old comedian planned a “big opening” last year with “as many costume changes” as he could and he has hinted at plans to do the same this year.
He added: “All I wanted to do was survive it and I think I survived it. I wanted to do a big opening. Basically, in my head, I’m the Beyoncé of comedy and I like as many costume changes as I can.”
However, even with a year of hosting duties under his belt, Jack expects a few more awkward moments like last year – when he walked past an artist he had made a dig at whilst on stage during the ceremony.
Speaking about last year’s ceremony on ITV’s The BRITs Are Coming, which looks forward to this year’s event, Jack confessed: “The most awkward moment in the show was just anytime that you slag someone off and then you have to then see them or walk past them backstage and that happened on a few occasions.”

Sam Fender shocked by BRITs win

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender thinks it is “absolutely crackers” that he is the BRITs Critics’ Choice winner for 2019.
The ‘That Sound’ hitmaker can’t believe he won the coveted prize and already has an exact place mapped out to put the award – on his mother’s mantelpiece.
Asked how it felt to be given the award – the first BRIT of 2019 – on ITV’s The BRITs Are Coming, he said: “It’s mad. Absolutely crackers. We’ve just non-stop been gigging and recording and it’s mad and great. It’s what I wanted … I’ll put it [the award] on my mum’s mantelpiece in the flat.”
The 22-year-old singer loves how music can “soften the blow” of things that happen in life that are difficult to talk about.
Explaining how he writes a song, he said: “I like creating song, it’s an easier way to talk about things that I don’t want to talk about, so if you put it into music, it kind of, softens the blow.”
One such example of this is his track ‘Deadboys’, which he wrote after losing a friend to suicide.
He explained: “‘Deadboys’ is a song that I wrote when I lost a friend to suicide. It was about that feeling of being completely confused and utterly shocked. I think it’s important as blokes to talk about being down if you feel down, it’s stupid that we don’t.”
And Sam thinks he has one particular person to thank for honing his songwriting craft.
Speaking about his younger years, he said: “I grew up in North Shields, it’s quite rough and ready and working class. When I was a kid, I was the worst football player on the planet and when I was 14, I actually would wait ’til my dad was at work and belt songs around the house … I had a teacher and she worked with me until my writing got good and that’s when I came out of my shell. I absolutely ruined my A-Levels and went and worked in a pub, I say worked, I was the worst barman ever. I got discovered by a manager that walked in and my bar manager actually told us to get my guitar out and play in the corner of the room, because he knew who he was.”
