Katie McGlynn admits Corrie future is ‘up in the air’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie McGlynn has admitted her ‘Coronation Street’ future is still “up in the air”.
The soap star’s pregnant alter ego Sinead Tinker has been diagnosed with cervical cancer – on Monday’s (14.01.19) episode it will be revealed that she requires immediate radiotherapy – and the actress has revealed she still doesn’t know how the storyline will end after she has an emergency Caesarean with husband Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) by her side.
She told the Sunday Post: “I’m contracted well into this year but it is up in the air. Although I have to wait and see what happens, I quite like not knowing.
“With the nature of my storyline, I guess it’s 50/50. Either way I’d be happy, though.”
The on-screen couple’s newborn baby Bertie is rushed away by nurses in the emotional scenes after Sinead collapses.
If the storyline does mean the end of the character on the cobbles, Katie has admitted she will have mixed feelings because while leaving the show would be sad, it will give her new opportunities as an actress.
She added: “I’ve really enjoyed my time on the Street and it’d be amazing if I got to stay as it is like a family here.
“But at the same time, as an actor, I’d love to go out there and see what there is. I like doing different things and it’d be exciting to see if I could play a different character again.”
Her comments come after ‘Corrie’ boss Iain MacLeod admitted he he still “hasn’t decided” whether to kill off Sinead or not.
The executive producer previously said: “It’s a really long running story and we genuinely haven’t decided what we are doing with the ending.
“Certainly, the longer it goes on the harder it becomes to kill Sinead because Katie and Rob have been so good in it – they’re almost acting their way off the butcher’s block.
“I have an open mind about it. There’s a beautiful story to tell with an optimistic ending but equally, a very truthful story to tell where it doesn’t work out.”

The meme showed a group of friends toasting around the table, with one of the women holding an imaginary glass, and had a message printed above which read: “When you’re all about that new sober life but still tryna hold onto your old ideas.(sic)”
The image was captioned: “One of these days I swear I’ll actually resemble a real human person.”
The ‘Confident’ singer’s endorsement of the post didn’t get missed by fans, with a number of them adding comments to the post.

She captioned her Instagram post: “HBD 2Da Hubz (sic)” and wrote in the lengthy note: “L, HBD to my #1…When we met you were 19, today, you are 29…I thought I could share some of my favorite things about my favorite dude in honor of this special day.
“The way you look at me, The way you look at our dogs … our pigs, our horses, our cats, our fish.
“The way you look at your family …. Your friends …. At Strangers …. At Life ….
“The way you look at the ocean and the way you always take your time.

“The look on your face when you receive good news and how you look AT the bad news.(sic)”
The ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker admitted she’s trying to learn from Liam’s example.
She went on: “I love how you always try things your way but are never too proud to ask for help. (Yes, I’ve noticed, and take note, I’m a work in progress.)”
And Miley doesn’t even mind any of her husband’s bad habits.
She continued: “I love the dirty socks on the floor because it means YOU’RE HOME.
“I love when you introduce me to a new band, so when you’re away I can listen, and it feels like you’re here.”

She wrote: “I love going to a random party and remembering basically everyone is fake AF out here and how lucky I am to share a life with someone so REAL. I love how you let ME be ME. Put simply… I love YOU. Unconditionally.
“In our time together you have displayed what it really means to love through all circumstances. I respect you and you respect me.
“You and me baby… let’s take this dark place head on and shine through with the light of L.O.V.E. Thank you for giving me the happiest days of my life.(Sic)”

The 48-year-old presenter – who is the flagship programme’s first female host – played Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect” as her first song and admitted she felt “ready” for “the big day” ahead.
She began the programme by saying: “Hello. My name is Zoe. How’s your belly off for spots? Good morning Radio 2 superstar listeners, here we go.
“And, relax. After all the build-up, and the chat and the preamble, the big day is finally here. We are so super-excited. I’m ready.
“Welcome to the first ever Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, I’ve been so excited about saying that.”
Thanking listeners for their support before she made her debut, she said: “‘It’s been really wonderful for all of us, it’s been really positive.”
And of her song choice, she explained: “It had to be a dame on this occasion.”
Zoe took over the show from Chris Evans and revealed he had sent her a “lovely message” on Sunday (13.01.19) evening.
Her first guests on the programme were John Cleese and Nadiya Hussain, who brought in a cake in the shape of a full English breakfast to mark the occasion.
Ahead of her debut on the show, the former weekend breakfast DJ had promised to get the balance right between music and “enough” chat, as well as making sure her listeners learned something from the programme.
She previously said: “The thing we really wanna do is bring lots of music, lots of energy, not too much chat – but enough, and we want people to have learned something by the end of the show.”

Giovanni Pernice confirms romance with Ashley Roberts

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Giovanni Pernice has confirmed he is dating Ashley Roberts.
The ballroom dancer and the former Pussycat Dolls singer were rumoured to have got together during the last series of the BBC talent show and after staying tight-lipped on the romance, Giovanni finally let slip the pair are an item during an appearance on ‘Lorraine’ on Monday morning (14.01.19).
Appearing along with fellow pros Gorka Marquez and Aljaz Skorjanec, host Lorraine Kelly said: “I know it’s early days for you and Ashley but I hope it goes well for you.”
Prompting Giovanni to reply: “Thank you.”
Giovanni then confirmed that he and Ashley – who was partnered with Pasha Kovalev on ‘Strictly’ – had spent Christmas and New Year together on vacation in Florida with Aljaz and his wife Janette Manrara.
Speaking about the trip, Aljaz interjected to say: “It was beautiful, I mean it’s always beautiful to be in Florida for Christmas and New Year but it’s bit weird because Santa usually comes on a sleigh rather than a surfboard.”
And Giovanni also spilled that he will be dancing with his 2018 partner Faye Toser and girlfriend Ashley on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ tour.
He said: “It’s different things, I’m dancing with Faye and with Ashley – it’s different.”
And Giovanni also defended Ashley from the criticism she received during her time on ‘Strictly’ with viewers complaining that her prior dance experience as a pop star helped her make the final.
The 28-year-old Italian dancer – who also made the final four couples with Steps singer Faye – said: “That’s the thing, every year, the same with my partner Faye. Every year people talk about the experience but not about the commitment to the show. They [the celebs] have never danced ballroom and Latin but they put 100 per cent in the show, and that’s the most important thing.”
The 2018 series produced two couples with Giovanni falling for Ashley, 37, behind the scenes and YouTuber Joe Sugg getting together with his professional partner Dianne Buswell.
And Gorka dismissed the notion of the ‘Strictly Curse’, insisting the fact that people find love is a blessing as long as they’re not hurting anyone else.
Speaking about his own happy relationship with Gemma Atkinson – whom he met on the 2017 series – he said: “We are very happy thanks to the show. Thanks for the tour I got the chance to spend more time with her and get to know her better. Yeah, we are very happy!”

Aedan Duckworth signs new Hollyoaks contract

OHMYGOSSIP — Aedan Duckworth has signed a new ‘Hollyoaks’ deal to keep him on the soap.
The young actor has earned plaudits – and a Best Newcomer nomination for the upcoming National Television Awards – for his performance as Ollie Morgan during the show’s dark sexual abuse storyline.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’ve just signed a new contract so I’ll definitely be around for the near future.”
He added that viewers could expect some more positive storylines for Ollie, now that his abuser Buster Smith (Nathan Sussex) is behind bars after the trial.
He said: “The trial is over and we will see Ollie trying to move on from it all. Of course, it’s something that will always be with him.
“But I’ve got some lighter stuff coming up with Brooke [Hathaway], which has been nice.”
Viewers have praised the show for the way it handled such a sensitive subject during the on-screen trial, and Aedan recently admitted he was glad it has been able to help people.
He explained: “The main reaction, which is the reason we do it, is that there’s been a spike in people coming forward. We’ve been working with Survivors Manchester and I know they’d back me up on that.
“The wider reaction from viewers is that they’ve loved the storyline. They’ve liked how real it’s been – and I really hope they’ve liked the outcome in the end.”
The star also opened up on how the storyline had changed his perspective after he initially just thought about the “cool” side of joining a soap, such as impressing his friends and learning “new things”.
However, he admitted: “Through my journey at ‘Hollyoaks’, I’ve realised that it’s about more than just being on screen. If you’re giving someone the confidence to come forward, it’s surreal and different in its own way. If I could do that again with another storyline in the future, I’d absolutely love to do it.”

Kylie Jenner exacts egg revenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner has exacted her revenge on an egg after her Instagram record was smashed.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star’s post from February 2018 announcing the birth of her and boyfriend Travis Scott’s daughter Stormi had been the most liked post on the photo-sharing app but an online campaign to get a simple photo of the foodstuff to surpass its popularity has proven successful as it’s earned over 23 million likes in just 10 days.
The mysterious Egg Gang had shared the simple photo on an account called world_record_egg and wrote: “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this [prayer emoji] (sic)”
But the 21-year-old reality star didn’t take losing her world record lying down as she’s now shared a video of herself cracking a similar-looking egg on the “really hot” ground, which she captioned: “Take that little egg.”
Fans of the egg have also been taking to Kylie’s original record-breaking photo of newborn Stormi clutching her thumb and adding the word ‘egg’ or just emojis of the breakfast favourite into the comments.
The Egg Gang have been blown away by the success of their campaign and have hinted they have got more records in their sights.
They wrote on their Instagram Story: “This is madness. What a time to be alive. Thank you so much for all of your support and messages. I’m gonna try to get back to as many of you as possible. But for now I need to sleep. It doesn’t end here though, we’re only just getting started. #EggGang. Mic drop.(sic)”

Peter Farrelly wants to be better

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Farrelly is doing his best to “become a better person”.
The ‘Green Book’ director admitted he has learned a lot since his movie’s Golden Globe win was overshadowed by the revelation he used to expose himself to cast and crew members as a joke and he hopes the scandal doesn’t put people off from seeing the movie.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ on the red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday (13.01.19), he said: “You learn, you grow. You try to become a better person. It’s all ultimately about the movie and that’s what we hope people see. I love this movie. I think it’s special.
“It’s been quite a trip, the whole thing, I’ve got to say.
“When we got into this whole thing … I didn’t know about this whole world. I’ve never made a movie for awards. So to be in the middle of it all is a real eye-opener.”
The movie has been further embroiled in scandal when an old anti-Muslim tweet written by Nick Vallelonga, one of the film’s writers, resurfaced and the 62-year-old director revealed the scribe has taken a “step back” so he isn’t a “distraction” from ‘Green Book’.
He said: “Nick’s good. He just wanted to take a step back and not be a distraction right now. He’s not feeling good about it, of course. None of us are. But it’s a growing and a learning experience. For him and a lot of people.”
Peter previously issued a statement apologising for his past antics, admitting he was “embarrassed” by his on-set behaviour.
He said: “I was an idiot. I did this decades ago and I thought I was being funny and the truth is I’m embarrassed and it makes me cringe now. I’m deeply sorry.”
And Nick also apologised and deleted his Twitter account over the scandal.
He said: “I want to apologise. I spent my life trying to bring this story of overcoming differences and finding common ground to the screen, and I am incredibly sorry to everyone associated with ‘Green Book’.
“I especially deeply apologize to the brilliant and kind Mahershala Ali, and all members of the Muslim faith, for the hurt I have caused.”

Allen Leech married

OHMYGOSSIP — Allen Leech has got married.
The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ actor and 32-year-old actress Jessica Blair Herman tied the knot on January 5 at a star-studded ceremony held at Alisal Ranch and Resort in California’s Santa Ynez Valley that was officiated by the bride’s mother and though they had envisaged a sunny day for their nuptials, things didn’t quite go to plan.
The Irish star said: “It ended up being something quite different. When you get married in California you expect sunshine, but a little bit of Ireland blew over on the day and we had some heavy rain.”
As a result of the rain, the string quartet the couple had booked were unable to perform, so wedding guests Lea Michele and Darren Criss stepped up to entertain fellow attendees including Allen’s ‘Downton Abbey’ co-stars Michelle Dockery and Dan Stevens and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek.
Allen told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “Everyone rallied round, the weather only made the day more epic.
“Darren and Lea are such great people and great friends, and they said, ‘Absolutely no problem’ when we told them the situation. We grabbed a guitar and they ended up singing the music for our ceremony.
“Everyone said they had never been to a wedding where everyone was singing before the bride had even arrived.”
The 37-year-old actor – who wore a navy Armani suit and burgundy bow tie – was bowled over when he saw Jessica in her Monique Lhuillier gown for the first time.
He gushed: “That moment of seeing Jessica, oh my God, it was magical. It will stay with me forever.”
The ‘People v OJ: American Crime Story’ actress – who got engaged to Allen last February after two years of dating – is expecting married life to be “uncomplicated and beautiful”.
She gushed: “As soon as I met him there was a sense of ease and comfort, that I knew marriage would be uncomplicated and beautiful with him.”

As reported by OK! Magazine, he said: “We should all say a big thank you to Scarlett because she is pretty much the reason we’re all here today.
“Scarlett is the first one who approached me in Starbucks when she was about two and a half years old, ice cream all down her face and said: ‘Hello, man,’ and Tina soon came scuttling after her!”
Tina shares Scarlett with ex-boyfriend – and former ‘Corrie’ co-star – Ryan Thomas, while she and Adam have a four-year-old son called Beau.
Amongst the wedding guests was soap veteran Helen Worth – who plays Gail Platt on the show – and she admitted she “got quite teary” during the ceremony.
When asked if Helen got emotional, Tina previously said: “She told me she got quite teary.
“Having a singalong and being able to look at everyone was perfect for me. I got to smile at people and take in everybody who was there.”

Justin Hurwitz channeled ‘loss, pain, grief and loneliness’ for First Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Damien Chazelle wanted Justin Hurwitz to channel “loss, pain, grief [and] loneliness” in the score for ‘First Man’.
The 33-year-old composer – who worked with the director on the hit 2016 musical ‘La La Land’ – has revealed that “themes are very important” to the filmmaker and when creating their sound for a flick, Chazelle “throws words” at Justin to find the “feel of the music”.
Hurwitz admits that Chazelle, 33, was very specific about the emotions he wanted to convey in the 2018 space biopic which tells the story of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon and is based on the book ‘First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong’ by James R. Hansen.
In an interview with Collider, Hurwitz said: “He’s very specific in what he’s looking for. So the first conversation we had once we really got into it during pre-production, we always start with … Well, he always wants to know at the beginning what the melodies are gonna be, what the themes are gonna be.
“Themes are very important to him. It always starts with me sitting at the piano looking to the themes before we get into any instrumentation, any sound ideas. We just talk about themes and he throws words at me, words that kind of get at what he wants to feel from the music.
“For this (‘First Man’) he wanted … the words he used were loss, pain, grief, loneliness. He wanted to feel all of that in the main theme of the film.”
The ‘Whiplash’ composer went on to explain that the director “always says no” when he sends first drafts, and he simply has to “keep going” until the pair have found the right sound.
He said: “So then my job is just to sit down at the piano and look for that, try to find that, and so I feel my way around the piano until I have something that feels right to me. I record at the piano, then when I send it to him and he always says no. Sometimes he’ll say why.
“It’s a little too this or it’s a little too that, and I’ll just keep going. We do this over and over and over again. It was a few hundred attempts at it before I found the right one that was the main theme of this movie.”

The Who announce final tour and new album

OHMYGOSSIP — The Who have announced “possibly” their last tour and their first album in over a decade.
The surviving members of the legendary rock band, frontman Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend – who were joined by the late drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle in the original formation of the band – have revealed they have a follow-up to 2006’s ‘Endless Wire’ in the works, which will be accompanied with a run of orchestral dates in America.
Describing the tracks he has penned, Pete teased: “Dark ballads, heavy rock stuff, experimental electronica, sampled stuff and Who-ish tunes that began with a guitar that goes yanga-dang.”
Daltrey has assured fans that just because they will be accompanied by a group of instrumentalists, that doesn’t mean they will give their shows any less “throttle”, whilst he promised all the bells and whistles.
Speaking about the tour, the frontman commented: “Be aware Who fans! That just because it’s The Who with an Orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”
The record is mainly the work of Townshend, 73, but his bandmate has hinted he’ll add some of his own songs to the mix.
The latter explained: “This has nothing to do with wanting a hit album [or] the fact The Who need a new album. It’s purely personal. It’s about my pride, my sense of self-worth and self-dignity as a writer.”
Daltrey, 74, added: “There’s at least five or six [songs] I can lay into and I’m sure they’ll come out incredible.”
As far as the band’s future on the road, the ‘I’m Free’ rocker says that he is thinking of winding down live performances as he doesn’t want to perform if his voice is not up to scratch.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “This will possibly be my last tour. I have to be realistic that this is the age I am and voices start to go after a while.
“I don’t want to be not as good as I was two years ago.”
Daltrey revealed last year that he isn’t allowed to do consecutive concerts, which is why The Who’s tours are few and far between.
The Teenage Cancer Trust boss had a pre-cancerous growth removed from one of his vocal cords in December 2009, and ever since he’s made sure to take good care of his voice.
Due to the terms of his insurance, Daltrey – who released solo album ‘As Long As I Have You’ last May – has to have a day off after one concert.
The orchestral shows will follow the singer’s tour in the States, last summer, which saw Daltrey perform The Who’s seminal 1969 LP ‘Tommy’ in full with local orchestras.
Further details regarding the album are expected in the coming months.

Holly Willoughby questions Gemma Collins’ professionalism on Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby has accused Gemma Collins of displaying a lack of “professionalism” by leaving ‘Dancing On Ice’ 15 minutes early on Sunday night (13.01.19).
Kem Cetinay – who is This Morning’s backstage reporter on the ITV talent show – revealed on Monday (14.01.19) that the 37-year-old ‘TOWIE’ star left the live broadcast before the end because she was a “bit bored”.
‘Dancing On Ice’ hosts Holly and Phillip Schofield – who also helm ‘This Morning’ – were left flabbergasted by her “diva” attitude and Holly insists she needs to have more “pride” in her work.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (14.01.19), Kem revealed why Gemma was missing in action, saying: “We went into the live show, and then the last quarter of the show, she went home.
“Well I didn’t know she went until after but then we saw this video and I was thinking, I don’t know where Gemma is and I went to her dressing room and she wasn’t there. So I did speak to her after and she said she was a bit bored, but she does love skating.”
Holly then gave her opinion on The GC’s no-show, saying: “The thing is I really love Gemma, you know I’m a big fan of Gemma’s and I think she’s great on the show I do, but I think there has to be a bit of professionalism that comes into any work you do, just a bit of pride in your work.”
Phil then scornfully added: “In all the years I’ve been in television, I have never kept a studio waiting.”
Explaining Gemma’s excuse for her behaviour, Kem said: “I think, she says it’s not Gemma Collins, that’s The GC.”
But Holly was in no mood to indulge Gemma’s diva alter ego.
The presenter said: “But then that’s absolute rubbish, that’s just a really good excuse to get away with stuff you don’t want to do. I love that side of her, I do love it, but I do think professionalism will always outweigh that diva behaviour.”

Saira Khan’s age and inexperience worried Dancing On Ice’s Mark Hanretty

OHMYGOSSIP — Saira Khan’s ‘Dancing On Ice’ partner was worried about her age and lack of experience.
The 48-year-old television presenter has been paired with pro skater Mark Hanretty on the BBC show, and he has admitted he has his reservations when he found out she would be his celebrity for the series.
Appearing on Saira’s ‘Loose Women’ panel show on Monday (14.01.19), he said: “As skaters, we’re inherently competitive and we know that this show does favour the young, history tells us that, and those that have got a performance background.
“Saira comes into it, one of the older ladies in the competition, you don’t dance, you don’t sing, you don’t act. I’d heard on the rumour mill that in the masterclass with Torvill and Dean, you were the worst.”
Despite not being too optimistic before rehearsals began, Mark – who added he does thing older stars can still be good skaters – admitted he was impressed with Saira’s “work ethic”.
Saira and Mark’s routine – set to ‘Express Yourself’ by Madonna – did enough to earn them a score of 19.5 from the judges, which meant they avoided a spot on the skate-off.
And the star was delighted with her time on the ice and admitted she put her own enjoyment over technical precision.
She added: “I had the time of my life. The skating went out of the window, and I thought ‘I’m just going to have fun’ – and it paid off!”
Saira was joined by ‘Loose Women’ co-stars Coleen Nolan, Jane Moore and Andrea McLean for her performance, and she admitted it gave her a big boost.
She said: “It was amazing! I think the best part was seeing the three of you sitting behind me, it just gave me so much energy. What was brilliant was I knew you had no idea what to expect!”

James McAvoy didn’t realise ‘Split’ was a sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — James McAvoy didn’t realise that ‘Split’ was a sequel to ‘Unbreakable’ when he was shooting the movie.
The 39-year-old actor played multiple-personality sufferer Kevin Wendell Crumb in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2016 psychological thriller ‘Split’ – a man who has 24 different personalities and kidnaps three teenage girls whilst moving towards becoming his darkest alter ego The Beast.
McAvoy reprises his role in new film ‘Glass’ – which completes the trilogy which began with ‘Unbreakable’ – but he has now confessed that it took him a “few weeks” to realise that ‘Split’ was a follow-up to the 2000 hit film, which starred Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.
In an interview with website DigitalSpy, he said: “I read the first version of ‘Split’ that I got sent and there was a little tenuous clue there – if I had been sharper eyed, I’d have seen it, but I missed it. I got into rehearsals and he kept talking about ‘Unbreakable’. And then it became clear, it dawned on me, the veil was lifted and I was like, ‘Oh my God’. Then a few weeks after that, I came clean with him and I was like, ‘Dude, I did not get that at all.’ I think he realised that the little clue he was giving everybody just needed to be amped up and he ended up coming up with a really cool scene at the end as well.”
Despite it taking McAvoy a while to come to understand with his director was doing, it was always Shyamalan’s plan to link the Scottish actor’s alter ego Kevin Wendell Crumb to Willis’ super strong character David Dunn and Elijah Price, played by Jackson.
The director previously said: “It always evolves a little bit. Essentially, it was this. It was this guy going to fight this guy to prove this guy’s theory. These three were always tied in that triangle.”
