OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora played coy when asked about her Andrew Garfield romance rumours.
The 28-year-old singer has recently been the subject of relationship speculation between herself and the ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ actor, and when asked about their connection in an interview, Rita refused to give a direct answer.
During an appearance on ‘The Morning Mash Up’ on SiriusXM, the ‘Let You Love Me’ singer was asked: “Did you prefer Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man?”
And Rita laughed as she admitted the host was making her “wake-up” during the morning interview as she thought of a way to dodge the question.
She said: “You’re making me wake up this morning. I don’t watch Spider-Man. That’s my answer.”
Rita and Andrew were first spotted together in November, and whilst neither of them have confirmed the rumours, they were spotted together again over the Christmas period in London.
A source close to the pop star said: “Rita let slip to pals about her brewing romance about a month ago. But in recent days things have started to heat up and she says what they have is the real deal.
“It is still very early days but they like each other and are seeing what happens. Their schedules make things difficult but they have a real connection.”
The singer’s comments come after she recently claimed she doesn’t mind speculation about her dating habits, because she knows people will always gossip about celebrity love lives.
She said: “It’s part of the territory. You pick and choose. I don’t complain about it. I just don’t put attention toward it.”
And Rita also revealed she doesn’t have particular type of person she likes to date.
She said: “I never know what I’m looking for. I don’t actually [have a type], at all.”

Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter’s killer gets 20 years in prison

OHMYGOSSIP — Morgan Freeman’s late step-granddaughter’s boyfriend has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her death.
Lamar Davenport was convicted of manslaughter last May after E’Dena Hines’ body was found in her New York City apartment in 2015, and according to TMZ, he has now been handed a 20 year jail sentence.
The publication reports Davenport was sentenced on Thursday (17.01.19) in court in NYC, and claims that after serving two decades in prison, he will be placed under post-release supervision for five years.
Davenport was previously acquitted of second-degree murder after his lawyer argued he was under the influence of PCP when he attacked E’Dena – who died from 25 stab wounds and was found with the knife still in her chest – but a judge subsequently found him guilty of first degree manslaughter last year.
An aspiring actress, E’Dena – who was 33 years old when she died – had a role in Morgan’s 2014 movie ‘5 Flights Up’, but never relied on him to help her achieve her dreams of stardom.
Speaking previously about E’Dena – who was the granddaughter of Morgan’s first wife – writer and theatre director Carl Hancock Rux said: “E’Dena was incredibly self-sufficient, vocal and incredibly talented.
“She was not the type of person who relied on her grandfather to cast her or book her shows. She was starting from scratch just like everyone else.”
Morgan, 81, expressed his sorrow shortly after news of her death broke, saying: “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer.”

Rob Kazinsky to make EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Kazinsky is set to return to ‘EastEnders’.
The 35-year-old actor starred as Sean Slater in the BBC soap for three years from 2006 to 2009, and it has now been revealed that a decade on from his last appearance, he will be making a return to Albert Square for a “short stint”.
A tweet from the official ‘EastEnders’ Twitter account reads: “Rob Kazinsky will be reprising his role as Sean Slater, for a short stint this spring. After plunging into an icy lake and fleeing Walford ten years ago, what brings him back to a place that caused him so much pain and heartache? #EastEnders (sic)”
As of the time of writing it’s not yet known what will bring Sean back to Walford, but senior executive Kate Oates recently hinted at a major storyline for his sister Stacey (Lacey Turner) and mother Jean (Gillian Wright), which would see Jean’s mental and physical health explored.
Since leaving the show in 2009, Rob moved to Hollywood to star in movies including ‘Pacific Rim’, ‘Hot Pursuit’, and ‘Warcraft: The Beginning’, as well as having roles in TV shows including ‘True Blood’ and ‘Brothers & Sisters’.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Rob said: “This year marked ten years since Sean fled from Walford after plunging into a frozen lake. A decade since I left the studio at Elstree and Sean Slater behind to move to the USA to chase a dream that seemed so farfetched.
Throughout my career I have always felt that my best work was on EastEnders as Sean Slater, that there was something there in him that I understood completely, something traumatic, something that we never really got to show the viewers. I have unfinished business in Albert Square and am thrilled to be returning to what I still consider to be my home, however briefly.
“I can’t wait to see my Slaters again and see what’s in store for Sean as he brings an evolved animal to Albert Square.”
During his first run on ‘EastEnders’, Rob was involved in a number of explosive storylines, including Sean’s fractured relationship with his family, dating Ruby Allen for her dad’s money, and conspiring with Tonya Branning to kill her husband Max.

Prince Philip in car crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Philip has been involved in a car crash.
The 97-year-old Duke of Edinburgh – who is married to Queen Elizabeth II – was driving the car near to the Sandringham Estate on Thursday (17.01.19) when he was involved in a “road traffic accident” with another vehicle, a spokesperson has confirmed.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a road traffic accident with another vehicle this afternoon. The duke was not injured. The accident took place close to the Sandringham Estate. Local police attended the scene.”
Prince Philip had been staying at the Sandringham Estate with the Queen for the Christmas period, and is said to have been checked over by a doctor at the estate.
The royal’s crash comes after last year saw him undergo hip replacement surgery in April, before falling in the bath and cracking a rib just six weeks later.
Prince Philip attended the wedding of his grandson Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, despite his injuries, as he was determined to appear without any form of walking aid.
A source said at the time: “The Duke is not a fan of showering and prefers to bathe.
“But he’s a determined man and nothing was going to stop him attending nor would he take any kind of walking aid.”
And just weeks after his hip surgery, Philip was already walking without the use of crutches, after spending nine days on bed rest following his operation on April 4.
Another source said: “The duke is already walking unaided. He has amazing willpower. When he sets his mind to something he gets on and does it.
“He has been walking up and down stairs several times in succession.
“He has also been charging across rooms at full speed. He even had to be told to slow down.”
Prince Philip retired from royal engagements in August 2017.

Kelly Rowland’s parenting shock

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Rowland had “no idea” how hard to would be to juggle life after giving birth.
The 37-year-old singer gave birth to her son Titan – whom she has with her husband Tim Weatherspoon – four years ago, and says that before his birth she assumed she would still be able to hit the gym and live her normal daily life, but quickly realised how difficult it is to juggle everything when all she wants to do is “spend so much time” with her tot.
Speaking to E! News, she said: “Before I had my son, I was thinking ‘Oh my gosh, this is going to be so easy. I’m going to work out, I’ll do this, I’ll do that.’ I had no idea. I knew I was going to love my son, but I’m so obsessed with him and I want to spend so much time with him.”
The former Destiny’s Child star recently revealed she feels “strong” as a mother, and although she stopped going to the gym after Titan was born, she’s now begun getting back into her workout routine as she wants her body to feel as strong as her mind does.
She said: “After I had my son it dwindled because I was so obsessed with him and just being with him and next to him.
“Then it became a time when I was like, ‘Oh my God, I want to feel great in this dress again’ and ‘I want to be really strong.’ I am really strong in motherhood, and I want my body to reflect that.
“When I started training again, I felt amazing. Training for me is a little bit selfish, but there is nothing wrong with that. When I get a moment, I owe it to myself to feel good physically!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Survivor’ singer said her son makes her feel more “confident”.
She said: “My son makes me feel confident. He’s just amazing. I’m like, ‘I did that right.’ He came at the most interesting time of my life and I had no choice but to be strong. I want him to be better than me, it’s just that simple. So I always like to make sure I’m doing right by him.”

Kathy Bates: My weight loss helped my lymphedema battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathy Bates’ weight loss has “really helped” her battle against lymphedema.
The 70-year-old actress began to suffer with the condition – in which arms or legs swell up because of a blockage in the lymphatic system – after undergoing lymph node surgery when she battled both ovarian and breast cancer in 2003 and 2012 respectively.
And after revealing recently that she’d managed to shed an impressive 60 lbs., she’s now said the weight loss has helped ease her swelling.
She said: “I was terrified of getting it. It affects more people than ALS, MS, AIDS and Parkinson’s combined. Ten million Americans. But people just don’t know about it.
“Some doctors think it’s cosmetic and not life-threatening. Doctors spend 15 to 30 minutes on the entire lymphatic system in medical school, so if someone goes to their general practitioner with swollen limbs, pain and heaviness the doctor will have no idea what it is. So it goes undiagnosed and the disease progresses for years and gets worse and worse.
“I’m feeling great [now]. I’ve lost a lot of weight and it’s really helped with my symptoms. I just still have to wear compression sleeves or guard against nicks and bug bites because that can lead to sepsis.”
But the ‘American Horror Story’ actress says not all sufferers are lucky enough to have support, so she partnered up with LE&RN (the Lymphatic Education & Research Network) to help raise awareness for the condition.
She added: “When I heard those figures I got involved. I got very p***ed off because it was unfair. I’ve been asked to lend my name to a cause [before] and I’ve made it my policy not to do that, but this is the first one I’ve felt strongly about.”
Kathy says the best thing people can do for loved ones going through cancer or lymphedema is to stick by them, because it can often make people feel like a “burden”.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: “I think going through breast and ovarian cancer you feel like you’re a burden. I’ve lost friends because some friends want to help but don’t realise it’s a long process. So they sort of drop out. It’s a problem. I think families try to do the best they can but it’s very difficult to help.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Betty White wants a call from Robert Redford for her birthday.
The television icon turned 97 on Thursday (17.01.19), and according to her representative, the one gift she wants more than anything else is to receive a phone call from 82-year-old fellow Hollywood legend Robert Redford.
Speaking to E! News, her rep said: “In the evening, Betty is playing poker with friends that she has played with for decades. As for her birthday wish, Betty is waiting for Robert Redford to call!”
Betty crush on the ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ star has been well documented over the years, and although they’ve both worked in the industry for decades, they’ve never met or collaborated together.
The ‘Golden Girls’ star once joked: “It never works. I try ever year.”
Although Betty might not be so lucky in getting the man of her dreams to pick up the phone, she did receive a touching message from actor Ryan Reynolds, who joked that Betty was one of his “ex-girlfriends”, despite their age gap spanning more then 50 years.
Posting a picture on Instagram of himself and Betty during an appearance on a late night talk show, the 42-year-old actor wrote: “I don’t usually wish ex-girlfriends Happy Birthday. But Betty’s special. Happy Birthday to the one and only, @bettymwhite (sic)”
Betty’s impressive birthday milestone comes just a few months after she received a standing ovation at the Primetime Emmy Awards, where she spoke about being dubbed as the “First Lady of television”.
She said at the time: “Somebody said something the other day about first lady of television, and I took it as a big compliment.
“And then I heard her talking to her daughter a little later, and she said, ‘First lady, she’s that old. She was the first one way back.'”
But the ‘Hot in Cleveland’ star admitted it is “incredible” her career had lasted so long.
She said: “Little did I dream then, that I would be here and it’s incredible that I’m still in this business and that you are still putting up with me,” White said. “I am thanking you. It’s incredible that you can stay in a career this long and still have people put up with you. I wish they did that at home.”

Celine Dion pays tribute to late husband

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion paid tribute to her late husband René Angélil on what what would have been his 77th birthday.
The 50-year-old singer gave her late spouse – who passed away in 2016 after suffering a heart attack – a “birthday gift” whilst on stage during her Las Vegas residency show at Caesars Palace this week, when she performed a song titled ‘You’re The Voice’ by Australian singer John Farnham.
She told the crowd: “This is the greatest gift that I can offer him for his birthday, because what he loved the most in the world is the fans, the music and to see me perform for you. Are you ready to sing that for René?”
Once the song had finished, Celine added: “Happy birthday, my love.”
The touching tribute came just days after the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker posted on Twitter to mark the three-year anniversary of René’s passing on January 14.
Writing in both English and French, she tweeted: “My dearest René….always with me…..always will be. In loving memory… xx … (sic)”
Celine – who has kids Rene-Charles, 17, and eight-year-old fraternal twins Eddy and Nelson – previously revealed that René was the only man she had ever loved.
She said: “He thought me everything. He’s the only man I’ve seen. The only man I’ve loved. The only man I’ve kissed.”
The ‘Power of Love’ singer also said that she was heartbroken to see Rene experience so much physical pain during his cancer battle.
She said: “The only thing I hoped while he was in three years of agony … I wanted him to live in peace. I wanted him to feel so light and no worries.
“He had a little heart attack, it’s so quick, he didn’t even feel anything. I thought that he was like liberated from his pain.”
Earlier this month, Celine revealed that she’s come up with ways to feel like Rene is still a part of her life, including a bronze replica of his hand that she keeps in her dressing room.
She explained: “I shake my husband’s hand and knock on wood with him every night before every show.
“Even after he’s gone, I still talk to him. I’m trying to prove to him every day I’m fine. Our kids are growing, we feel strong. We’re good.”

Prince Philip breathalysed by police after crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Philip was breathalysed by police following a car crash on Thursday (17.01.19), which left him “shocked and shaken”.
The 97-year-old royal was involved in a collision near the Sandringham Estate, eastern England, while driving his Land Rover, but fortunately he was uninjured and both he and the other motorist, who was driving a Kia, provided negative readings after giving breath tests.
Two women in the Kia required hospital treatment after suffering cuts and an arm injury, but both have since been discharged.
A spokesman for Norfolk Police said: “The male driver of the Land Rover was uninjured.
“The female driver of the Kia suffered cuts while the female passenger sustained an arm injury, both requiring hospital treatment.
“We can confirm both casualties have been treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn and have since been discharged.
“It is force policy to breath test drivers involved in collisions. We can confirm both drivers were tested and provided negative readings.”
A witness, Roy Warne, 75, said the Duke of Edinburgh was “conscious” when he was pulled from the wreckage, but “very, very shocked and shaken”.
Roy also claims he heard Philip later tell police he was “dazzled by the sun”, and he is said to have told rescuers: “My legs. Where should I put my legs?”
The Barrister rushed to help Philip out of the Land Rover.
He told The Sun newspaper: “It was frightening to see.
“I looked down and had the Prince’s blood on my hands.
“All I could think is, thank goodness there wasn’t more.”
Following the incident, Buckingham Palace confirmed the duke was “not injured”.
They said in a statement: “The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a road traffic accident with another vehicle this afternoon. The duke was not injured. The accident took place close to the Sandringham Estate. Local police attended the scene.”
Prince Philip had been staying at the Sandringham Estate with Queen Elizabeth over the Christmas period, and is said to have been checked over by a doctor.
He is now resting alongside his wife and will be monitored by doctors in the coming days.

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrianne Palicki and Scott Grimes have got engaged.
The ‘Orville’ co-stars took to social media to confirm they are to marry, and the ‘John Wick’ actress showed off her engagement ring in a selfie.
Adrianne – who plays Commander Kelly Grayson in the Fox show – wrote on Twitter: “So happy to spend my life with you @ScottGrimes #ido #iloveyou (sic)”
The ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ star shared a black and white picture of herself and her husband-to-be sitting on a sofa, with both sporting huge grins.
However, some fans were confused as to whether they were celebrating their engagement or in fact their marriage after Adrianne, 35, hashtagged the caption “I do”.
But they were inundated with messages of congratulations from fellow stars and supporters.
Former ‘The Bachelor’ star Bob Guiney wrote: “YES!!! Congratulations to both of you! Couldn’t be happier for you. (sic)”
Scott – who plays Lieutenant Gordon Malloy in sci-fi comedy-drama ‘The Orville’ – replied: “yes you could (sic)”
‘The Thinning’ actor Michael Traynor tweeted: “Wild Congratulations from your friendly neighborhood #KrillCaptain!! (sic)”
Adrianne was previously engaged to stuntman Jackson Spidell, after meeting him on the set of 2014 movie ‘John Wick’, in which she starred opposite Keanu Reeves.
Scott, 47, was married to Dawn Bailey-Grimes – with whom he has a daughter, Madison, 19, and son Jackson, 17 – from 1997 to 2007.
He later married Megan Moore in 2011, but she filed for divorce in October 2017.

Sophie Turner had hair wash ban

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Turner wasn’t allowed to wash her hair while filming ‘Game of Thrones’.
The 22-year-old actress – who has played Sansa Stark since the show began – agreed to producers’ request that she took less care of her appearance in later seasons of the fantasy drama, but found it “disgusting” letting her locks gather dirt for weeks on end so she came up with a solution ahead of shooting the final episodes.
She said: “For the first few seasons I was allowed to wash my hair because I was an aristocratic young girl.
“Towards season five they started asking me to not wash my hair and it was really disgusting.
“Now I wear I wig so I can wash my hair whenever I want, which is nice. But yes, for a couple of years I was living with pretty greasy hair.
“It was really itchy! Also, we would have the snow machines going so we would have little snow paper particles that would get stuck in the grease. It was disgusting.”
But wearing a wig meant it took Sophie – who had been dying her blonde tresses red for the show – longer than anyone to be ready to film.
She told InStyle magazine: “It was probably Emilia [Clarke] because she needed a bald cap, a wig, and then had intricate design on the wig. Actually, mine seemed to take longer this season — I don’t know why.
“Wait, it’s because she’s dyed her hair blonde! But, it’s mainly the people with the wigs that take the longest.”
The British actress – who is engaged to Joe Jonas – may prefer to have clean hair but she admitted she doesn’t spend as much time looking after her locks as her co-star Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow.
She said of the actor: “He probably takes the most care of his hair out of like everyone on the show I know.
“He’s obsessed. Before red carpets you would always see him scrunching the ends of his curls to make sure they’re perfect. We all take the p**s out on him for that.”

Kendall Jenner relieves acne agony

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner “ran home crying” after school every day.
The 23-year-old model began suffering with acne when she started high school and she’s admitted she was so convinced fellow students were always staring at her face, she’d go home devastated on a regular basis.
She shared a throwback photo on her Instagram Story and wrote: “#10yearchallenge I was 13 and ran home crying every day because people would stare at my skin (sic)”
These days, Kendall is delighted with the way her skin has improved and contrasted the teenage photo with a recent one of herself without make-up.
She wrote: “Yesterday on film. Zero make-up.”
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star also admitted her battle with her skin left her feeling “anxiour, helpless and insecure”.
She shared a bare-faced photo on Instagram and in a lengthy post wrote: “While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating.
“It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure. ”
Kendall – who is the new face of skincare brand Proactiv – has called for people to be more open about their insecurities and she’s keen to show that she isn’t “perfect”.
She added: “As humans, I don’t think we share our insecurities enough because we live in a time where being ‘perfect’ is the standard. We curate our life online and pick the pretty moments to post.
“I’d like to show a younger generation that not everything is perfect. Being insecure about my acne gave me thick skin but I wouldn’t ever wish that feeling upon anyone so after trying countless options, I found something that has been helpful in maintaining clear skin for me.
“It’s been a long journey but I’m excited for where my skin is now. I didn’t think I’d see the day where I would feel confident posting a make-up free picture. My goal is to open up a dialogue around skin positivity.”

Jessica Raine pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Raine is pregnant.
The ‘Call the Midwife’ star is expecting her first child with her husband Tom Goodman-Hill – who she married in 2015 – and admitted “neglecting” to tell ‘Baptiste’ bosses she was pregnant when she took on the role of Genevieve.
Speaking at the show’s premiere, the 37-year-old actress is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “I was a bit tired but the worrying thing for production was there was a car race and stunt and I neglected to tell them I was pregnant when I took the job.
“I broke the news and everyone was amazing.
“We had to work out how to do a car chase without me being in any danger.
“Also, my character is quite hard and being pregnant is quite emotional so it worked well.”
Jessica joked she was most interested in food while shooting the series, which is a spin-off of BBC One thriller ‘The Missing’.
She added: “I was interested most in food on this job!
“My shirts get bigger as the series goes on.”
Jessica is no stranger to being up close and personal with babies after she became a household name portraying nurse Jenny Lee in BBC period drama ‘Call the Midwife’ from 2012 to 2014.
She and Tom, 50, first met when they starred opposite one another in National Theatre production ‘Earthquakes’ in 2010.
The couple moved in together in 2013 and tied the knot in 2015.

Kevin Hart set for Monopoly movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Hart is set to star in ‘Monopoly’.
The 39-year-old actor is said to be in final negotiations about appearing in the motion picture, which will be inspired by the famous board game, with his ‘Ride Along’ director Tim Story set to helm the movie.
According to Deadline, Hart and Story will also produce the film alongside John Cheng, Carli Haney, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett.
A writer for the project, a filming date, or story details are yet to have been revealed.
Last year, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were said to have forked out $1 million for the rights to an article about the McDonald’s Monopoly game crime story, about an ex-cop who rigged the game, allegedly stealing over $24 million and sharing it with a group of co-conspirators.
Jeff Maysh, an L.A.-based journalist who penned the piece, was thrilled that Damon and Affleck – who have previously worked together on a number of successful projects, including their 1997 hit ‘Good Will Hunting’ – wanted to adapt his article.
He said: “Film producer David Klawans had previously teamed with Ben Affleck on ‘Argo’ and that was obviously a huge success, to say the least.
“There were so many other offers and big names but this one made me say, ‘Wow.’ I was thrilled at how passionate they are about the story.”
And he set his sights on Sir Anthony Hopkins appearing in the film.
He added: “I obviously have zero input in casting. But the most interesting character for me is the veteran FBI investigator. He usually worked on boring wire frauds but was suddenly thrown into a world of Big Macs, mobsters, psychics and strip club owners! Sir Anthony Hopkins has the right kind of intensity I think.”

Jeff Bridges to receive ASC Award

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Bridges will receive the Board of Governors honour at the upcoming ASC Awards for Outstanding Achievement.
The 69-year-old actor has been selected by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) for the coveted accolade in recognition of his lengthy career and “passion for creating artful imagery” and will pick up the prize at the annual ceremony, which takes place on February 9 at Hollywood & Highland’s Ray Dolby Ballroom.
ASC President Kees van Oostrum said: “Jeff Bridges is an extraordinary talent on the screen, and also a remarkable person off screen.
“He is beloved by many for his achievements as an outstanding Oscar-winning actor.
“We at the ASC feel like Jeff is one of us, because he shares our passion for creating artful imagery through his still photography. We are incredibly honoured to present him with our Board of Governors Award.”
The honour – the only ASC Award not given to a cinematographer – is bestowed on individuals in the industry whose work has made significant and indelible contributions to cinema and it recognises filmmakers who have championed directors of photography and the visual art form.
The veteran actor previously won an Academy Award for ‘Crazy Heart’ and revealed nominations for his work on six other movies, ‘The Last Picture Show’, ‘Thunderbolt and Lightfoot’, ‘Starman’, ‘True Grit’, ‘The Contender’ and ‘Hell or High Water’.
The announcement of the honour comes just a few weeks after Jeff picked up the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globe awards.
When he accepted that accolade, the ‘Big Lebowski’ star referenced engineer and architect Buckminster Fuller, who he dubbed Bucky, and his use of trim tabs, ocean-going tankers with little rudders, using them as a metaphor for how all of humanity is connected.
He said: “I think of myself as a trim tab and all of us are trim tabs. It may seem that we’re not up to the take, but we are, man. we’re alive! We can make a difference! We can turn this ship in the way we wanna go, man! Towards love, to creating a healthy planet for all of us.
“I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for tagging me, and I want to tag you all. You’re all trim tabs! Tag, you’re it!”

Vampire Weekend to release 6 new songs before new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Vampire Weekend are to release two songs a month in the run up to dropping their first album for six years.
The band’s frontman Ezra Koenig has confirmed the group’s hotly-anticipated fourth studio album will be a double record made up of 18 tracks, titled with the initials ‘FOTB’, and the band will drop six new songs over the next three months.
He wrote on Instagram: “we’re gonna start releasing music next week. After all that waiting, you should have the general schedule:
-There will be three 2-song drops every month until the record is out. 1. hh/2021 2. s/bb 3. tl/uw. (plans can change that’s the plan) (sic)”
Ezra thanked fans for their “patience”, but insisted the group haven’t shared much information about the forthcoming record because he doesn’t like discussing a project before it is completed
He wrote: “To the fans:
I know that 5-6 years is considered a long time between records. Personally, I think it’s a dignified pace befitting a band that’s already placed three albums in stores but everyone has their own sense of time. (I swear the time between 3 & 4 felt shorter to me than 2 & 3. I may be in the minority on this one.)
This album didn’t really take any longer to write/record than MVOTC. We just took more time on the front end to chill. I’ll admit I may have stretched out the mixing/mastering process (aka THE END) a little bit cuz spending half the day with my family & half the day at Ariel’s is my ideal life-rhythm & it’s painful to say goodbye to that rhythm.
Many of you have been hungry for information and we’ve given you very little. I don’t like talking abt a project while in the middle of making it. I usually regret everything I say cuz it turns out to be wrong (so disregard anything I may have said in the past 5 years.) I thought abt making a recording diary to tide over the people leaving intense comments but…to me, the album IS the recording diary…man.
It’s called “FOTB” (well those are the initials – that’s a VW tradition) and it’s 18 songs. Picked the name a few years ago. At some point early on, the album drifted from the Mitsubishi Macchiato aesthetic. It was a helpful guiding principle tho. Working titles are important too.
It’s a lot of songs but they all belong there. (If you disagree, you can always say it was 6 songs too long & make a lil 12-song playlist version of it.) At first, I wanted to make two 23-song albums on some human chromosome shit but then 23&me started doing Spotify playlists and I don’t know…felt we’d been scooped.
Is it a double album? The vinyl will be double so…yes? It’s about 59 minutes long. We can talk more abt that later – if u care. To me, it’s just FOTB. (sic)”
In May, the band revealed their upcoming album – a follow up to 2013’s ‘Modern Vampires of the City’ – was “94.5 per cent” completed.
