Ash Palmisciano had ‘no role models’ growing up as a trans teen

OHMYGOSSIP — Ash Palmisciano had “no role models” growing up as a transgender teenager.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor – who plays Matty Barton, who was previously known as Hannah Barton, the daughter of Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) – is proud to be the ITV soap’s first trans cast member as when he was growing up he had no one to relate to on television.
In a video posted on his Twitter account, Ash said: “I spent a long time when I growing up being really confused because there were no role models out there. There was no one to reference. As an actor it has been a great opportunity to work in such a high profile soap. To be able to play that out in a soap which reaches seven million a night is a dream come true.
“Sometimes it can be hard to go back to those awkward moments. But I’m past all that, I’m an actor. And Hopefully, it can help other people.”
The 29-year-old actor posted video online because he was unable to attend a charity event last week where a panel had questions ready for him about his experiences as a trans person.
Ash revealed he has received messages from parents of transgender kids asking for his advice and help and he’s happy to help those families on their journeys.
He said: “I’ve had parents message me that said, ‘Our son or daughter is transitioning. What does it mean to be doing this work?’ It’s absolutely massive. I feel the pressure to sort of tell an authentic story not just for the label but for their talent and who they are and what they do.”

Chris Hemsworth put ‘two snickers bars’ in daughters shoes for rollercoaster

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth placed “two snickers bars” in his daughter’s shoes so she could ride a rollercoaster.
The 35-year-old actor – who has six-year-old India and five-year-old twins Sasha and Tritan with wife Elsa Pataky – attempted to “beat the system” when his little girl was told she wasn’t tall enough to ride the Tower of Terror ride at Disneyland and his chocolate boosting-trick was enough to get the youngster accepted onto the attraction.
Appearing on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he recalled: “I took my kid, a couple of years ago, it was previously called the Tower of Terror or something and she wasn’t tall enough and she was really upset and I though ‘No forget this come here’.
“So we grabbed a couple of snickers bars and slammed them in the back of her shoe so I propped her up, walked up and was like ‘What about now’ and they were like ‘OK in you come’.”
However, while the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ actor was originally proud of what he’d done, he quickly realised there was a reason why his little girl wasn’t allowed on the ride.
He continued: “So, we’re sitting in the chair and this thing is, I dunno, hundreds of feet high and whatever. We’re at the top and I’m looking at her and she’s strapped in and the seat it’s massive on her and I’m like ‘We beat the system honey well done’ and it drops and she [flies up] and I grab on to her and she’s screaming the whole way down. So maybe there’s a reason that there’s a height size. So, don’t do that. She’s fine, she’s well. I’m her hero.”
When Chris was shooting the 2017 Marvel Cinematic Universe film ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, one of the blockbuster’s most famous lines was created by a child who was visiting the set.
He added: “When we were shooting ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ we had a young kid on set who was unwell at the time and had come to visit.
“We were shooting this scene with Hulk and Thor in the arena and it was right when I was talking to the Hulk and I was saying ‘ Oh my god it’s you! Where have you been?’ and he was on the sideline and he was like, ‘When you look up at Loki at the crowd, say he’s a friend from work!’
“The kid gave us that line and it became one of the best lines.”

John Legend taught to swim by Olympic athlete Ryan Lochte

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend has been learning to swim with the help of Olympic gold medallist Ryan Lochte.
The 40-year-old singer took to his Instagram story on Monday afternoon (08.14.19) to reveal that he’s has been taking lessons in his backyard pool from the 12-time Olympic medallist after admitting in January that he wasn’t proficient in the water.
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker shared a video of himself swimming alongside the athlete while his two-year-old daughter Luna looked on alongside his wife Chrissy Teigen.
John was seen wearing a pair of blue swim trunks and goggles as he executed a freestyle swimming stroke, or front crawl.
The ‘Ordinary People’ singer first made the revelation on Twitter earlier this year confessing to his 12.4 million followers he “can’t really swim”.
He wrote: “I can’t really swim. Today I took my first swim lesson since I was like 5. My dad learned in his 60’s so I feel like I’m ahead of schedule.”
A fan then joked that he was lying on his song ‘All of Me’ because of the line: “My head’s under water/But I’m breathing fine.”
They quipped: “So what happened when your head was under water? Did you breathe fine? Was it all a lie?!”
John – who also has 11-month-old son Miles with his wife Chrissy – retweeted the post, and laughed: “All. Lies. Hahaha (sic).”
Some users were less than impressed, with one suggesting it’s not ideal that John doesn’t know how to swim properly because he many not be able to dive into his own pool if his children ever slipped in.
A follower then responded: “Not trying to disrespect U or your kids. Just wanted to put out there for general knowledge about pools, children, and safety precautions in response to someone commenting @ John slipping into pool (sic).”
John’s wife Chrissy, 33, hit back at people who commented on the couple’s parenting capabilities, but she later said she “misunderstood” and admitted she can get “defensive” when people criticise their brood’s safety.

Bob Dylan set to open whiskey distillery in 2020

OHMYGOSSIP — Bob Dylan is set to open his whiskey distillery in 2020.
The 77-year-old singer has teamed up with liquor entrepreneur Marc Bushala to release his own line of alcoholic drinks, which are to be made available during the autumn of next year.
Heaven’s Door Spirits will convert a 160-year-old Nashville Elm Street Church into the Heaven’s Door Distillery and Center for the Arts, featuring the much-anticipated distillery, an exclusive whiskey library, restaurant and a 360-seat live performance venue.
The ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ hitmaker previously vowed to “tell a story” with his alcohol range.
He said: “You don’t always find inspiration. Sometimes it finds you. We wanted to create a collection of American whiskeys that would each tell a story.”
Dylan’s firm – which has been named Heaven’s Door Spirits, in reference to his 1973 song ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door’ – is set to make bourbon, a double barrel whiskey and a straight rye.
And Bushala has rubbished the suggestion that the move is merely a vanity project for the legendary singer.
He explained: “[Dylan] didn’t sell out. This is his brand, and it’s his idea.
“We just helped him do what he wanted to do. Bob does not want to be face man of the brand and he does not want the packaging to scream ‘Dylan.'”
It’s been revealed that Dylan’s famous signature will appear on the reverse of the label, meaning it will only become visible once it’s been opened.
Bushala said: “He was willing to do that, but he’s not going to appearances or bottle signings. He didn’t even pick up his Nobel prize, so he’s not going to go out touting this.
“And that’s great because it’s authentic for Dylan and authentic for the brand.”
In April last year, Dylan belatedly accepted his Nobel Prize for Literature, having failed to pick up the prestigious medal and diploma at a ceremony in Sweden in December 2016.
A member of the Swedish Academy – which awards the prize – said the ceremony “went very well indeed” and described the American musician as “a very nice, kind man”.

John Bradley was unhappy with weight before Game of Thrones

OHMYGOSSIP — John Bradley credits ‘Game of Thrones’ for helping him to accept his weight.
The 30-year-old actor admitted he feared his life would “pass [him by]” because of his size but everything changed when he was cast in the fantasy drama series because showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were looking for someone “exactly” like him to play Samwell Tarly.
John appeared on ‘Conan’ on Monday (08.04.19), where host Conan O’Brien mentioned he’d attended the show’s wrap party in Northern Ireland and praised his guest for the moving speech he’d made.
Without a clip of the moment available to broadcast, John agreed to summarise his speech and said: “As somebody who grew up overweight and kind of unhappy because of it, and thinking that life was going to pass you by because of it, and all the times where you go to bed and you think, I’d give anything to wake up and not have this weight.
“While I was feeling that about myself, David and Dan — our producers and everybody else connected with the show — they were looking for me. They were looking for exactly me.
“If I’d have known that they were looking for me and what kind of effect that was going to have on the rest of my life then I just wouldn’t have been able to believe it.”
Meanwhile, John has admitted he was very “protective” of his scripts for the final season of the show because he feels a “responsibility” to keep details secret.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “As soon as [I] started to read that script I became in possession of knowledge that so many people in the world want.
“You guard it with your life. We feel a responsibility to keep all those secrets. But I think the audience is going to be delighted. It’s never been a show that gives people exactly what they think they want.”

Billie Eilish ‘can’t’ stay famous forever

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish “can’t” stay famous forever.
The 17-year-old singer wants her career to be successful but admits she’s looking for a “weird balance” because she also dreams of having a quiet “life” away from public scrutiny.
Speaking about chats she’s had with her brother and collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, she said: “We can’t have this be the rest of our lives. We were talking about it the other day, we’re just like, ‘I’m 17, dude.’ I can’t have my life exactly like this forever, and he can’t either. He’s just become an adult. He just got a house. He has a girlfriend and wants a dog. You know what I’m saying?
“It’s a weird balance, because I want to grow in my life, and grow up and have a life. But I already have my career.”
And the ‘When the Party’s Over’ hitmaker admitted touring can be tough because it is so easy to be forgotten by friends.
She added in an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe: “Having been on tour, I know how it works. I know that you leave and it’s a little bit of your friends being sad. Then, you’re gone for long enough that life moves on and they keep doing things.
“It’s the same way as if someone dies. You have to keep going. You shouldn’t be mourning them every two seconds for the rest of your life. You have to keep going.”
Billie went on to compare being famous to depression or losing a loved one because not many people can relate to her specific experiences.
She said: “There’s only a few people in the world that can understand this.
“There are some things in life that you just can’t understand unless you see it right in front of you.
“When someone you love loses someone very close to them, you can’t say, ‘I feel you.’ You just can’t. That’s okay. You don’t have to be like, ‘I understand,’ when you don’t. It’s just about listening.
“I feel like some people just try to act like they know, but just listen. It’s not about trying to up their depression. It’s not about who’s sadder, who’s gone through worse. It’s about listening to people and actually just caring about them.”

Jenny Powell doesn’t own a microwave

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Powell has “no need” for a microwave as she never eats ready meals.
The 51-year-old star doesn’t own the kitchen appliance because she’s “careful” about what she eats and will always make her own food as she is wary of the “hidden poisons” in processed food.
In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, she said: “If we want a shepherd’s pie then I’ll make one. I don’t even have a microwave at home because we have no need for one.
“You have to be careful about what you put into your body there are so many hidden poisons in processed foods.”
The television personality – who has daughters Constance, 18, and 10-year-old Pollyanna with former husband Toby Baxendale – went on to admit that although it can be a “job in itself” juggling healthy eating with a family it’s all “about body maintenance.”
Jenny – who can currently be seen on 5Star reality show ‘Celebs on the Ranch’ – said: “It’s so easy when you’ve got kids and you’re running around, and it is a job in itself making sure you eat healthily but its body maintenance.”
However, Jenny isn’t “manic” about her diet and will allow herself to indulge in dark organic chocolate and the occasional steak as treats.
She said: “But I’ve never been, manic about it all, I love chocolate so I just buy dark organic chocolate instead and I’m a little bit of a carnivore, I love a good steak.”
Jenny started her career in children’s television so she “had to behave” and couldn’t go out partying all night, and that approach to alcohol has remained through to her fifties.
She spilled: “I always had to behave I had the odd drink but have never been one to stay out all night even back in the day.”

David Attenborough

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough feared he had contracted malaria during a trip to Borneo but his hot flush was actually caused by a “red hot” electric blanket.
The 92-year-old wildlife expert had spent four months on the Asian island for a television project and when he returned home he awoke one night sweating profusely and his body was burning hot.
Recognising his hot flush as a symptom of malaria he feared the worst, but the ‘Blue Planet’ narrator was relieved when he realised the source of his discomfort was actually a new electric blanket his wife Jane had purchased whilst he had been away on his travels.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “I thought this is what I read about this is malaria. I thought what do I do? Do I nudge and say, ‘I have got malaria darling?’
“I put my hand on the sheet, and it was red hot almost. I realised while I had been away my wife had bought electric blankets with a dual control and mine was still on.”
David’s new Netflix series ‘Our Planet’ launched on the streaming platform last Friday (05.04.19) and the host admitted it is “naive” to suggest that changes will be made “overnight”, but he added it is something that can change over time.
He previously said: “It would be naive to think suddenly that you can say something and these enormously powerful men and organisations are going to change overnight. The world doesn’t work like that. But there are groundswells, there are these great sea changes that are difficult to plot, but they do happen. It’s up to us to bring that about.”
The broadcaster also explained that nature shows have a “responsibility” in the battle against climate change.
He said: “There’s a big responsibility that natural history filmmakers have. I’d love to spend the whole time saying, ‘Look at these wonderful things, aren’t they lovely?’ But you have a responsibility for pointing out that unless we change our ways, they’re not going to be here forever.”

Charles Dance first met Widow co-star Kate Beckinsale when she was 10

OHMYGOSSIP — Charles Dance loved being reunited with Kate Beckinsale in ‘The Widow’ – because he first met her when she was just 10 years old.
The 72-year-old actor stars alongside Kate, now 45, in the new ITV drama and was delighted to work with the “extraordinarily beautiful” star because he can remember first meeting her when he worked with her actress mother Judy Loe 35 years ago.
In an interview on ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (09.04.19), Charles said: “I first met Kate when she was about 10. Because I did my first television with her mother, Judy. Kate was there with her mum one day, this pretty little girl and she’s grown up to be this extraordinarily beautiful and very youthful star.”
The ‘Gosford Park’ actor has one of the most distinctive voices in the business but he has confessed he didn’t always speak the Queen’s English as he used to have a strange twang that was a mix of a Plymouth and Birmingham twang.
He revealed: “I grew up in Plymouth but I was born in the midlands. Through my teens and into my very earlier twenties I had a combination of a Plymouth accent and a Birmingham accent.
“And if you think of the two neither of them are particularly attractive. If you join them together … I used to make the most awful noise.
“I had these wonderful gurus who taught me what I would had learnt had I gone to drama school and the first thing we worked on was to get this voice sorted out.”
Explaining his previous voice has helped him master certain accents for the screen and stage, he added: “It’s a bit like a painter having the remains of paint in brushes. Rather than cleaning the brush up before picking up another paint. Every colour you used is likely to be painted with the colour that was stuck in the brush before.
“I know quite a lot of people who have strong Belfast or they come from Scotland or somewhere and they manage to lose it. Well maybe I could have done that and I took their advice and went on this route.”

“It was my opportunity, I was drunk, it was the after-party, so I jumped on it to get a photo. I was 100 per cent butt naked.
“It was actually Tom’s chair as well. I partied all night. I was still up with the birds at 6.30am.”

Carrie Underwood ‘figuring out’ family life

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Underwood doesn’t know if she’ll ever “figure out” raising two children.
The 36-year-old singer and her husband Mike Fisher welcomed son Jacob – a sibling for four-year-old Isaiah – into the world in January and she admitted they are still adjusting to life as a family of four.
She said: “We’re still figuring out our groove, to be honest.
“I don’t know if we’ll ever figure it out.”
The ‘Love Wins’ singer is delighted Isaiah has taken to life as a big brother really well, admitting there is already a “really cute” bond between her sons.
She said: “He loves it. He calls Jacob ‘My baby.’ [He says] ‘Where’s my baby? How’s my baby? I wanna kiss my baby.’ ”
Last month, Carrie admitted she’d found it hard for her body to “bounce back” after giving birth to Jacob and she thinks it’s important to show that even famous people struggle with the same challenges others do.
She told E! News: “People expect more of us ‘celebrities’. Everyone is busy showing the highlight reels of their life, but life is messy.
“I’m a mom first and foremost. That’s my favourite. I love my job but that’s my favourite role to play.”
After admitting she had been “pretty hard” on herself for not being able to work out the way she used to, the ‘Cry Pretty’ hitmaker recently vowed to “start appreciating” her body and “stop analysing every angle and every curve”.
She wrote on Instagram: “As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t. I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal.
“‘m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I’m always working towards my goals, one day I’ll reach them. I’m going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do! #bodyafterbaby #fitmom #healthy #staythepath @caliabycarrie. Taylor Swift donates to LGBTQ rights group

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has donated $113,000 to an LGBTQ rights group.
The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker accompanied her donation to the Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) with a handwritten note, in which she praised the organisation for bringing together 150 religious leaders in the state who have opposed a series of bills – which has been dubbed the ‘Slate of Hate’ — which the charity says target LGBTQ individuals.
Taylor wrote to TEP executive director Chris Sanders: “Dear Chris, I’m writing you to say that I’m so inspired by the work you do, specifically in organizing the recent petition of Tennessee faith leaders standing up against the ‘Slate of Hate’ in our state legislature.
“Please convey my heartfelt thanks to them and accept this donation to support the work you and those leaders are doing. I’m so grateful that they’re giving all people a place to worship.”
Chris praised the 29-year-old star for her generosity and said the organisation were “honoured and grateful” for the gift.
Chris shared the note on Facebook and added in his caption: “Taylor Swift has been a long-time ally to the LGBTQ community.
“She sees our struggle in Tennessee and continues to add her voice with so many good people, including religious leaders, who are speaking out for love in the face of fear.
“Tennessee Equality Project is honored and grateful to reveal Taylor Swift has made a donation of $113,000 to support our efforts at this critical moment.(sic)”
Among the bills included on the so-called ‘Slate of Hate’ are ones permitting adoption agencies to discriminate against same-sex couples and another preventing state or local government agencies from considering a business’s nondiscrimination policies when choosing contractors.
In October, Taylor spoke up about politics for the first time when she endorsed Democratic US Senate candidate Phil Bredesen, a former Tennessee governor, in his battle against Republican Marsha Blackburn.
The ‘Blank Space’ hitmaker specifically slammed Marsha’s stance against marriage equality and highlighted her vote against reauthorising the Violence Against Women Act.
She wrote: “These are not MY Tennessee values.”
Despite Taylor’s endorsement, Phil was defeated by Marsha.

Stephanie Pratt: Spencer isn’t ‘family’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Pratt doesn’t consider her brother Spencer Pratt or his wife Heidi her “family” anymore.
The 32-year-old reality star admitted she isn’t on speaking terms with the couple – who have 18-month-old son Gunnar together – anymore but claimed she has no idea why they have a problem with her.
Speaking on her iHeartRadio ‘Pratt Cast’ podcast with Wells Adams, she said: “We are not on good terms. We are not on speaking terms. I do not consider them my family…
“This is me actually exiting my family. I’ve tried to be nice to her for 10 years because I love my brother. It never changes. They flip the switch on me and I have no idea. … None of it makes sense.”
Stephanie explained the latest drama between them happened during a recent photoshoot for upcoming reality show ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’.
She said: “We had our photo shoots for press and for the opening titles. We had three days of it that went to like 3 a.m. — they were long shoots. And Heidi had a bottle of champagne that she gave all the girls except for me.”
Asked if the 32-year-old star could have been worried about Stephanie’s drinking, she insisted: “I’m not an alcoholic.”
But the ‘Made in Chelsea’ star didn’t confront her sister-in-law at the time because of her parents.
She added: “That is the last time I’m putting my parents as the priority in front of this relationship…
“Before ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’, my mom, my brother and I all sat down and we said we will not let this ruin our family again”.
I’m done. I don’t care. I’m not protecting them anymore.
“I’m also not going to pretend that Spencer and Heidi are good people like I was doing for most of the series for my parents.”
While Stephanie insisted she is happy to have the “toxic” couple out of her life, she admitted she’ll miss her nephew.
She said: “Heidi doesn’t want Spencer to have a relationship with anyone but her. And you know what? That’s fine. I don’t want a relationship with Spencer anymore.
“Gunner, I will miss the fact that I’m going to miss out on the cutest, cutest, cutest little boy’s early years but it’s not worth it.”

Ryan Seacrest misses first American Idol episode in 17 seasons due to illness

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Seacrest called in sick for ‘American Idol’ for the first time ever.
The 44-year-old star had to miss filming for Monday’s (08.04.19) episode due to illness, and it marks the first time he has been absent on a production day across all 17 seasons with Bobby Bones stepping in for the regular presenter.
He joked: “I am not Ryan Seacrest; I am Bobby Bones. Sadly, Ryan is sick, and I look most like him so they asked me to fill his shoes tonight. Ryan, love you, buddy. Hope you get better.”
Judge Katy Perry joked that the absence proves Ryan – who has never missed an episode in the history of the show – is actually a real person rather than a robot.
Alongside a shocked face and robot emoji, she tweeted: “Proof that @ryanseacrest is human after all.
“And it only took 17 years for you to use your sick day, not bad #AmericanIdol #getbettersoonryan”
Her co-star Lionel Richie also commented on social media, and described him as the “hardest working guy” in the industry.
He wrote: “Wow, @ryanseacrest missing an @AmericanIdol show day is crazy! Hardest working guy in the business! #AmericanIdol #IdolDuets”
And fellow judge Luke Bryan weighed in too, and revealed Ryan was “feeling better” after missing filming several weeks ago.
He added: “We missed you for this one! Really thought you might be a robot but glad you’re feeling better. Haha!”
Ryan – who was live tweeting as he tuned in for the episode – replied: “Just needed a quick maintenance check. I should be good for next week brotha”
In a video statement to viewers, he quipped: “Good evening, and welcome to ‘American Idol’. Tonight is a unique show for me, because it’s the first time in 17 seasons that I have missed the show
“Fact is, I woke up and was having a terrible hair day. I just couldn’t go out in public. No, I really had to cash in on my very first sick day, but my friend and mentor Bobby Bones was kind enough to to fill in.”
