Bananarama announce first album in a decade

OHMYGOSSIP — Bananarama have announced their first album in a decade.
Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward reunited with original member Siobhan Fahey for their first tour in almost 30 years in 2017, but she departed the group in August 2018.
Now the ‘Venus’ hitmakers are back, as a duo, and have announced their first record since 2009’s ‘Viva’.
Keren – who split from Wham! star Andrew Ridgeley in 2017 – has said that the new songs on ‘In Stereo’ are inspired by their own personal experiences, whether that’s heartache or finding love.
She explained: “We’ve always written from personal experiences.
“The perfect pop song is about creating a memory.
“If I look back on my life, you can almost tell the story of it through pop songs.
“Romances as a teenager, your first kiss, first love, first heartbreak.
“Those feelings don’t disappear, they change into something you can still write about from your own experience and everything around you.”
Keren says one of the reasons they continue after all this time, is because they have inspired so many fellow females throughout their lives.
She said: “The amount of women we’ve met that say that we were an inspiration to them growing up, has always been one of the best things about being in the band.”
Whilst Sara added: “I’d make an album every year if I could.
“Songwriting is what I love to do, along with performing.”
The album, which features lead single ‘Dance Music’, is released on April 19, and will be followed with a UK tour.
The run of dates kicks off at Omeara on April 26, and wraps at Glasgow’s St Luke’s on May 2.
The track-listing for ‘In Stereo’ is as follows:
1 ‘Love In Stereo’
2 ‘Dance Music’
3 ‘I’m On Fire’
4 ‘Intoxicated’
5 ‘Tonight’
6 ‘Looking For Someone’
7 ‘Stuff Like That’
8 ‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’
9 ‘Got To Get Away’
10 ‘On Your Own’

Simon Cowell took Britain’s Got Talent idea from other show

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell had the idea for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ while watching a rival music show.
The 59-year-old music mogul had a brainwave while tuning in to see a contestant perform poorly on another programme, and decided he would rather see animal acts trying to sing instead.
Speaking on ‘The Paul McKenna Positivity Podcast’, he said: “It was just an idea I had in the kitchen one day, I was watching another competing music show and a girl was murdering ‘Get Here’ by Oleta Adams.
“I thought, ‘Do you know what, I would actually rather watch a show about a singing dog.’
“And that’s how ‘Got Talent’ came along.
“And we developed it over a year and then we sold it. And this show will run for 20 years.”
The former ‘Pop Idol’ judge – who is famed for his acid tongue and harsh critiques – also admitted he thrives on competition and is always trying to trump his showbiz pals when they appear on similar shows.
He said: “We see a competing show and think, ‘We will take a bit of that show and put it into ours.’
“But I am still incredibly competitive. When I see a competing show starting to do well I actually feel physically sick.
“I don’t like my friends to do well. I really don’t. Jealousy in a weird way is good for you. If you are not jealous of your competitors you are not going to win.”

Gemma Collins: Dancing on Ice has become blade wars

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins says ‘Dancing on Ice’ has “become a bit blade wars” because “everyone is at each other”.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star has a good idea of who has been spreading backstage speculation about her after it was claimed this week that she had a nap during the rehearsals before last Sunday’s (13.01.19) live show, and that she then left 15 minutes early later that night because she was “bored”.
But the 37-year-old star insists she has “evidence” proving such rumours are not true, and she hopes the mystery mole “speaks up and says the truth”.
She said: “We sort of know where the rumour has come from, but we’re just trying to get the person to admit it and stand up and apologise.
“They definitely didn’t see me … I’ve got text messages, voice recordings, telephone recordings confirming I wasn’t asleep, confirming I never said I was bored.
“That person needs to speak up and say the truth as to what made them do it.
“The show has become a bit blade wars. Everyone is at each other.
“Hopefully the truth will come out and then we can put this to bed.”
Following the speculation, Gemma has been hit with a backlash from some fans which resulted in her throwing up on the ice yesterday (17.01.19), but she is determined to carry on with the series, and has taken inspiration from pro mixed martial artist Conor McGregor’s film ‘Notorious’.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “I am going to be the Conor McGregor on the ice. Against all odds, I will not be defeated, I will not be beaten down.
“I’m coming out on Sunday Conor McGregor-style, taking it to the ice.
“I watched Conor McGregor’s film last night and I thought, ‘That’s the spirit. He don’t give up, and I’m not giving up.’ I’ve worked too hard to throw it away.
“It has been one hell of a week, but I am not giving up.
“I’ve been working on the most amazing routine for Sunday. It’s going to be absolutely jaw-dropping, so tune in.
“Yesterday on the ice I was throwing up and there were lots of tears.
“My family have been very distressed.
“It has caused nothing but endless pain. I couldn’t believe the hate, the trolling.”
Gemma’s comments come after Dancing on Ice’s digital presenter Kem Cetinay “massively apologised” to her after he claimed live on ‘This Morning’ this week that she had been late to rehearsals for a group performance because she was “having a nap”, and said she’d left Sunday’s live show early because she was “bored”.
This prompted a backlash from presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who questioned Gemma’s “professionalism”.
What’s more, the ex-‘TOWIE’ star’s pro partner Matt Evers laughed off reports this week that she had a sleep during the rehearsals before the live show.
He stated: “Gemma did not have a nap. Look, we all want to take a nap on Sundays, I wish I could have a nap on Sundays.
“We’re there all day Saturdays for rehearsals we’re there first thing on Sunday, we do camera blocking all morning, then we do a dress rehearsal all afternoon.”

Ernie Hudson to reprise Ghostbusters role?

OHMYGOSSIP — Ernie Hudson is keen to reprise his role in the third ‘Ghostbusters’ film instalment.
The 73-year-old actor – who played Winston Zeddemore in the original 1984 movie – confirmed that he and his surviving co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray would be keen to return to their roles for the latest film, directed by Jason Reitman and produced by his father Ivan, although they will miss the presence of the late Harold Ramis, who played Egon Spengler in the comedy films.
Ernie told DailyMailTV: “We miss Harold because Harold was really the glue that I think held everybody together. He was always my go-to point and anything that was a little bit weird, or whatever, Harold was the guy who would sort of say, ‘Ernie, just…’ and explain the world to me.
“And I miss him, but his spirit is there. But Ivan Reitman is there and everybody is in. Now whether the studio will do it, I’m the guy who sits by the phone and waits for the call. So if they call, I’ll answer. If not, I’ve got other stuff that I’m doing.
“We’ve grown, we’ve learned and a lot of really new young talent that I’m sure they’d bring in to it. So it would be a lot of fun. I think it would only deepen. And we’ll miss Harold.”
Ernie added that the 35th anniversary of ‘Ghostbusters’ would be the perfect time for the popular film series to return, and praised the franchise’s fans for their endless support.
He said: “Thirty-five years, the fans for ‘Ghostbusters’ are the most amazing fans, because this is not something that the studio really set up. This is something that the fans embraced.
“I mean guys make their jumpsuits, and they turn their cars into Ectomobiles, and they tattoo us on their bodies, and I’m just overwhelmed and humbled by it.
“So 35th year and there’s talk of other possibilities happening, which I would love, but we’ll see. But it’s great to have been a part of that franchise.”

Gladys Knight’s national anthem vow

OHMYGOSSIP — Gladys Knight has vowed to give the US national anthem “back its voice” at the Super Bowl.
The 74-year-old music legend will sing ‘The Star- Spangled Banner’ before the flagship NFL game kicks off at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in her hometown of Georgia, Atlanta, on February 3, and she thinks it is “unfortunate” that the song has been “dragged into” a debate about police violence and injustice.
Gladys gave a lengthy statement when asked her thoughts on the NFL’s treatment of former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick, who was exiled from the NFL for his #TakeAKnee movement, which saw him and several other players refuse to stand during the national anthem at games because of the protest against police brutality and racial injustice.
She told Variety: “I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things, and they are police violence and injustice.
“It is unfortunate that our national anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the national anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone.
“I am here today and on Sunday, February 3 to give the anthem back its voice, to stand for that historic choice of words, the way it unites us when we hear it and to free it from the same prejudices and struggles I have fought long and hard for all my life, from walking back hallways, from marching with our social leaders, from using my voice for good — I have been in the forefront of this battle longer than most of those voicing their opinions to win the right to sing our country’s anthem on a stage as large as the Super Bowl LIII.
“No matter who chooses to deflect with this narrative and continue to mix these two in the same message, it is not so and cannot be made so by anyone speaking it.”
And the ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ hitmaker “prays” the song will bring everyone together so they can “move forward”.
She added: “I pray that this National Anthem will bring us all together in a way never before witnessed and we can move forward and untangle these truths which mean so much to all of us.”

Cardi B lands Pepsi deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B will star in Pepsi’s Super Bowl commercial.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker will be the soft drinks giant’s spokesperson for the next 12 months and according to TMZ, has already filmed an advert that will air in the TV breaks during the NFL flagship game next month.
The Pepsi ad is considered the premiere commercial during the sporting event and is viewed by an audience of hundreds of millions.
Last year, Cindy Crawford featured in the clip, while the likes of Spice Girls, One Direction, Beyonce, Britney Spears and the late Michael Jackson have previously featured in the company’s advertising.
It was previously claimed Cardi had been in talks to join Maroon 5 during their half-time set during the game.
However, the 26-year-old star was said to have been in dispute over whether or not she secured a solo spot as well as performing their collaboration ‘Girls Like You’.
The ‘Moves Like Jagger’ hitmakers will now be joined by Big Boi and Travis Scott for their set at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3.
Ahead of the announcement, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine Adam had previously hinted they were performing at the show, and admitted he would be “equal parts nervous and excited” about the gig if it took place.
He said: “It’s the Super Bowl. It’s a great event and there’s gonna be a band performing, or an artist of some kind performing at halftime. And it’s gonna be great regardless of who it is. Whoever is lucky enough to get that gig probably is gonna crush it … Whoever does it is probably equal parts nervous and excited. This is all speculative because I don’t know who I’m talking about. If it were me, I’d be excited, I’d be nervous … If I were doing it, which I can’t confirm or deny I am, I would be excited.”

Laura Linney finds Oscars surreal

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Linney finds attending the Oscars “surreal”.
The ‘Ozark’ actress – who has been nominated for Academy Awards in 2001, 2005 and 2008 – admitted she’s often in awe when she comes face-to-face with people she admires or who have inspired her when she attends the prestigious event.
She said: “It is a wild thing, it’s surreal when your life intersects with people you admire or who’s work has inspired you.
“Suddenly you’re there and you can’t believe your luck.
“It’s a wonderful thing and it’s hard to believe it’s actually happening.”
The 54-year-old actress is starring on stage in London in one-woman show ‘My Name is Lucy Barton’ and she admitted she gets “very, very nervous” about holding the stage alone and finds it difficult afterwards because there’s no one to compare notes with about the performance.
She said: “It’s terrifying, it’s the most unnatural thing to do, it is strange and odd. It’s bizarre to go out on stage alone, I get very, very nervous and I have to throw myself out there.
“Then after, I think, ‘What just happened?’ and there is no one to compare notes with.”
However, the ‘Mystic River’ star has no regrets about signing up for the production.
She told talk show host Graham Norton: “But, I’m so happy I’ve been about to do it and I love it because the material is so beautiful.”
Laura – who was previously married to David Adkins and has son Bennett, five, with spouse Marc Schauer – also spoke about working on ‘Love Actually’ and admitted she and co-star Rodrigo Santoro comforted one another about their respective break-ups during filming.
She said: “It was so much bigger than I thought it would ever be and I had the best ever kiss in that movie with Rodrigo Santoro We were broken hearted at the time as we’d both been dumped, so all day we made each other feel a lot better!”
The full interview with Laura airs on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ on BBC One on Friday (18.01.19) evening.

Chrissy Teigen had major row with John Legend at Kimye wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen and John Legend had a “major blow-out” row at Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West’s wedding.
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ star – who has children Luna, two, and Miles, seven months, with her spouse – admitted she wants to apologise to the couple every time she sees them because of the tension she caused at their 2014 nuptials in Italy.
Asked about the row by a caller on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’, John said: “I don’t even remember what it was about.”
Chrissy added: “We try to think about this all the time. It was a major blow-out to the point where every time I see them I feel like apologising for it.”
While John, 40, thought the pair had managed to keep the bad feeling hidden from the bride and groom, his wife disagreed.
She said: “Ohhhh everyone knew!”
The 33-year-old model blamed her own insecurity and being “intimidated” by her fellow guests for the argument, admitting she took her own feelings out on the ‘All of Me’ hitmaker.
She explained: “I think I was really intimidated. I think it came from a lot of insecurity and I took it out on John.
“I don’t know, it was a lot of fabulous, amazing people in one room. I think that’s where it stemmed from. I was just very insecure. You know how things snowball into a bigger thing. And also drinking so that doesn’t help.”
The couple were also asked about Kanye’s famous Twitter rants and John admitted he finds it “weird” that it’s always something he’s quizzed on because his friend is responsible for his own actions and he doesn’t agree with a lot of what he says.
He said: “When I see some of it, I just shake my head like a lot of people that love Kanye, love his music.
“I don’t agree with a lot of the things he says. He owns it. He says what he’s gonna say. And it’s on him. It’s weird because I get asked about it all the time, and I can’t be accountable for what he’s gonna say.”

Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Row

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer told a historian to “f***ing accept it” after the past expert questioned whether King Edward II was gay or not.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor admits he “felt for” the late Medieval monarch, who was widely believed to be homosexual, after finding out about his story on his new show ‘Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family’, which led to the actor having a “to and fro” with a historian.
He said: “I really did feel for him, a gay medieval king. It was hard enough to be gay in the f***ing 70s, let alone 700 years ago.
“I did take some comfort in the fact he did find love for a bit, with a man, and of course it was exposed and he was murdered for it.
“I was sort of having a bit of a to and fro with the historian, who wasn’t quite sure whether he was gay or not.
“I said to him, ‘Just f***ing accept it, mate. What’s the matter with you?’ ”
Danny – who is related to a number of royals, including King Edward III and William The Conqueror – also admitted it was a “horrible feeling” stepping foot in the room where Edward II was killed.
He said: “I went into the room that he was killed in. It was a horrible feeling.”
The soap star – who plays pub landlord Mick Carter on the programme – chowed down on a number of medieval delicacies on ‘Right Royal Family’, including a sheep’s tongue which came straight from its head.
And he was determined to “really immerse” himself into the series.
He added to TV Guide magazine: “I think, as a human being, I’ve changed a bit as I’ve got older, and I wanted to show a different side to me.
“I didn’t want to take myself too seriously on this.
“I could’ve got a little bit awkward and I don’t ever take myself too seriously, as a lot of people know.”

Rob Kazinsky says Kate Oates played a big part in EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Kazinsky says “superstar” Kate Oates played a big part in getting him back to ‘EastEnders’.
It has been announced that the 35-year-old actor is reprising his role as Sean Slater in the BBC One soap a decade on from his departure from the show in 2009 for a short but exciting stint in Albert Square.
Rob admits new ‘EastEnders’ Senior Executive Producer Kate – who jumped ship to the BBC after being the Series Producer of rival ITV soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ – played a huge part in convincing him to make a comeback as Sean.
He posted on his Twitter account: “Happy to be back, I have a short break between projects and Kate Oates is a superstar. It’s something I always wanted to do to say thank you to Sean and the show, and we have worked to fit it in in the most explosive way. I think you’ll be… entertained.”
Although the details of Sean’s comeback storyline are as yet unknown, the former soldier will be reunited with his sister Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) and mother Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), and Kate has previously teased a major upcoming storyline for Jean.
During his first run on ‘EastEnders’, Rob – who made his debut as Sean in 2006 – was involved in a number of explosive storylines, including dating Ruby Allen to extort her dad Johnny Allen’s money and conspiring with Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner) to kill her husband Max.
Sean will be reunited with Ruby in Walford as actress Louisa Lytton made her return as the character last year.
After leaving the show, Rob began a Hollywood career and has starred in films such as ‘Pacific Rim’, ‘Hot Pursuit’, and ‘Warcraft’ and he will be seen later this year in Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ‘Captain Marvel’.
Despite his other successes, Rob has also considered his portrayal of Rob to be some of his best work.
He said: “Throughout my career I have always felt that my best work was on ‘EastEnders’ as Sean Slater, that there was something there in him that I understood completely, something traumatic, something that we never really got to show the viewers. I have unfinished business in Albert Square and am thrilled to be returning to what I still consider to be my home, however, briefly. I can’t wait to see my Slaters again and see what’s in store for Sean as he brings an evolved animal to Albert Square.”

Paul Van Dyk awarded $12M for 2016 stage fall

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul van Dyk has been awarded $12 million for the life-changing injuries he sustained during his 2016 near-fatal stage fall.
The ‘Touched By Heaven’ DJ was left severely injured when he fell through the stage during his set at A State of Trance festival in the Netherlands, just over two years ago.
The 47-year-old EDM icon – whose real name Matthias Paulbrain – was left with long-lasting brain damage and also suffered a spinal injury.
The German star took the organisers of the event, ALDA Events B.V., to arbitration and his case was heard in September 2018.
Dyk was awarded $12,588,643.45 in damages for medical bills and any profits lost as a result of the injuries he sustained.
In court documents obtained by The Blast, it’s stated that ALDA were at fault for allowing the DJ to perform on a stage that was not safe and for failing to warn him that the structure wouldn’t be able to cope with lots of jumping up and down, which he’s known for with his energetic live shows.
Dyk was handed $2 million for any further medical treatment or expenses he encounters, $1.2 million for lost profits between 2016 and 2017, and $2.475 million for the next decade.
ALDA were also liable to pay a further $5.5 million in damages.
After his fall, Dyk remained under doctors’ supervision at Utrecht Medical Center for weeks.
He was then allowed to be transferred to a facility in Berlin until mid-May 2016.
As a result, many of his performances were affected, including the cancellation of his planned appearance at Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico.
The accident also meant his seventh studio album ‘From Then On’ was delayed whilst he took time out to recover, with it not being released until October 20, 2017.
Dyk followed up the album with ‘Music Rescues Me’ last year.

Busted nearly broke up over new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Busted came close to breaking up again after clashing over their new album ‘Half Way There’.
The pop punk stars – James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson – had various disagreements over what direction they should take on the record after switching up their sound on their comeback LP ‘Night Driver’.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Charlie – who reunited with his bandmates in 2015, after quitting in 2005, leading to their disbandment – confessed: “This album was quite a difficult album to write.
“To be honest we nearly broke up again.”
However, they ended up having a “lightbulb moment” when they realised they simply needed to make a Busted-sounding record.
Matt explained: “There were points where we were really butting heads and it was becoming quite stressful because we weren’t together on what we wanted to do.
“We all had different ideas and we all wanted to pursue different avenues and we didn’t really know what the Busted sound was today.”
After coming up with the track ‘Nineties’, everything else started to fall into place.
Charlie said: “We wrote that song and we were like, OK, we can do this. Let’s make a Busted album, but Busted in 2018.”
Matt said: “Once we knew we just had to make a Busted record it was a lightbulb moment and it spurred this level of creativity between us.
“We just wrote the whole album in a month then we went to record it really quickly.”
The ‘Year 3000’ hitmakers also admitted that not feeling pressured to make a hit album awarded them the freedom to do whatever they wanted.
Charlie said: “Nowadays we don’t have people telling us what we can or can’t do, we make our own decisions.
“Busted wrote great songs, but the elements of production and the way it was marketed, it was all very young, which we can’t moan about because it made us a huge band.
“Back then, we fitted a certain mould. It was great to make this record and not give a s**t about any of that.”
‘Half Way There’ – which they worked on with Foo Fighters producer Gil Norton – is released on February 1.

Nile Rodgers thankful to Cher for helping Chic grow US audience

OHMYGOSSIP — Nile Rodgers is thankful to Cher for enabling Chic to play around the world.
The ‘Le Freak’ hitmaker’s band are currently on the road with the ‘Believe’ hitmaker on her ‘Here We Go Again Tour’ – inspired by her starring role in ‘Mama Mia! Here We Go Again’ and subsequent Abba covers album – in North America, and the 66-year-old producer has admitted his band wouldn’t be able to grow their audience in America if it wasn’t for the opportunity the Hollywood legend has given them.
Speaking to the Knoxville News Sentinel newspaper, he said: “We are really trying to build our audience in America as we have around the world.
“In a strange way, it makes me feel uncomfortable, but we are keeping ourselves out of the world market this year.
“One, thank God because of Cher, we get to play a huge amount of markets.
“I keep thinking we are overdoing it, but every show I ask how many people are seeing Chic for the first time.
“About 70 per cent of people at every show are saying it’s their first time.”
Nile’s work with Daft Punk, including the hit song ‘Get Lucky’, from their 2013 album ‘Random Access Memories’, also gave Nile international success.
Asked whether or not his set will feature the many collaborations he has released over the past four decades, he replied: “Oh, absolutely Daft Punk is a part of our show now.
“Listen, I’m the only person who has three songs on that album ‘Random Access Memories’.
“It was a big deal because they are huge Chic fans.
If you look on the inside cover of their first album, you see Chic lying on the floor and Kiss up on the wall. Chic is a mashup of Kiss and Roxy Music.
We wanted the anonymity of Kiss and the couture style of Roxy Music.
“And also, if you look at the Kiss logo and you look at the Chic logo, they are almost the same.”
And Nile says it’s no coincidence that he is on tour with another artist with four letters in their name, whilst pointing out the rave reviews of his Chic’s live show.
He added: “We have an artist with four letters in the word.
“It’s very much like that Chic, Kiss, Abba and Cher and Roxy Music. That four-letter thing — I don’t know what it is.
“Superstition among musicians? One thing I can promise you with humility and sincerity is you can see after the show online that most people will say it’s the best show they have been to.”
The ‘Here We Go Again Tour’ continues on Saturday night (19.01.19) at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Ray J’s 410k birthday gift to himself

OHMYGOSSIP — Ray J celebrated his 38th birthday by splashing out over $400,000 on cars.
The ‘Sexy Can I ‘ singer – who reached the milestone on Thursday (17.01.19) – visited Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Wednesday (16.01.19), where CEO Craig Jackson treated him and movie producer pal RD Whittington to a tour of the classic cars on the site.
And according to TMZ, after the tour, Ray splurged on a 2018 Mercedes-Benz Maybach and 2019 Lincoln Navigator for himself and wife Princess Love, with a total bill of $410,000.
The Machbach came in at $320,000, while the Lincoln was a relative bargain at $90,000.
The ‘Right On Time’ singer – who has eight-month-old daughter Melody with his spouse – recently admitted he doesn’t feel “complete” without his family and always has them close by.
He said: “I don’t go anywhere without my wife and baby.
