Ben Hughes’ testicular operation ‘went well’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Hughes has reassured fans his operation “went well” after he had his testicle removed today (23.01.19).
Chris Hughes’ brother went under the knife at Cheltenham General Hospital in Cheltenham, south west England, and while he was “a bit croaky” and looked “a little bit yellow” afterwards, he told supporters the op was a success and thanked them for their well wishes.
Speaking in a video on his Instagram Stories, he said: “Hey guys, just got home, surgery went well. I feel a bit croaky and a little bit yellow.
“Thank you everyone so much for your support. It’s been much appreciated.”
The former ‘Love Island’ star’s sibling found out earlier this month that he had testicular cancer after discovering a lump hours after Chris underwent a live TV testicular examination on ‘This Morning’.
Ben updated fans on his situation before going into theatre to have his testicle removed.
He shared a picture of himself in bed on Tuesday (22.01.19) and added the caption: “Big day tomorrow got to be at the hospital at 7:30!! That’s when the fight really starts! (sic)”
Just 10 minutes before his operation, he shared a black-and-white video of himself, in which he said: “The next time I speak to you guys will be when I have woken up.”
Last week, Ben revealed he was set to go under the knife to have his testicle removed today.
He said at the time: “I’ve just got a nut-sized ball on my testicle. Quite large.
“I had a CT scan and I haven’t picked the results as of yet, and I will then find out if the cancer has spread into any other parts of my body. Fingers crossed it hasn’t spread.
“I’m booked in for my operation next Wednesday to remove the testicle, so I’m just wanting these CT scans to come back good and I can get this out.”
What’s more, Ben has been told his sperm count was “very negative” after he underwent some tests ahead of freezing his sperm.
He explained: “I did my first sperm banking the day before yesterday and my doctor rang me that evening and said, ‘I think you should know, the tests we did on your sperm weren’t great. Your semen sample came back with a very negative sperm count, if any at all.’ ”

UK’s Eurovision hopefuls revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — The six acts who will compete for the chance to represent the UK at this year’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ have been announced.
Anisa, Holly Tandy, Jordan Clarke, Kerrie-Anne, Maid and Michael Rice will be competing against each other for a ticket to Tel Aviv in ‘Eurovision: You Decide’ on the February 8th, which will be hosted by Eurovision 2015 winner Mans Zelmerlöw and host Mel Giedroyc.
The contestants will share three songs, ‘Bigger Than Us’, ‘Freaks’ and ‘Sweet Lies’.
Holly – who will sing ‘Bigger Than Us’ – said: “My version of ‘Bigger Than Us’ is a country pop song which is really current and cool, and similar to a Taylor Swift / Miley Cyrus vibe.”
Michael will also perform ‘Bigger Than Us’, and he is a huge fan of the lyrics.
He said: “My version of ‘Bigger Than Us’ is such an epic, big song with a big key change and harmonies, and I think the lyrics resonate with everyone”
Jordan and Maid will both perform ‘Freaks’, and he is hoping the crowd join in.
He said: “My version of ‘Freaks’ has a rock element to a pop song, it has a strong vocal with an anthem vibe – I wanna get the crowd singing along!”
Maid added: “‘Freaks’ is about celebrating everyone’s individual personality, about the people who maybe don’t fit in and it’s about bringing everyone together”
Anisa and Kerrie-Anne are to sing ‘Sweet Lies’, but the tempo will differ on the two versions.
Kerrie-Anne – who will sing ‘Sweet Lies’ – said: “The style of my song is up-tempo but at the same time the lyrics are quite poignant – it’s all about blissful ignorance.”
Anisa added: “I always like ballads so I took the tempo down, added loads of harmonies, loads of layers and lots of backing vocals – I wanted to get the emotion across.”
The successful singer will represent the UK at the 2019 ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ in Tel Aviv.

Jason Gardiner hits out at Gemma Collins for her ‘appalling behaviour’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Gardiner has fuelled his feud with Gemma Collins, hitting out at her “appalling behaviour”.
The 47-year-old TV presenter criticised the 37-year-old reality star on his Twitter page following their ‘Dancing on Ice’ row on Sunday (20.01.19), on which she accused him of “selling stories” about her and hit back, calling her a “brat”.
Jason tweeted: “Back in the real world… Thank you so much for the outpouring of love & support I’ve received. I am overwhelmed by it. Faith has been restored as we stand united against such appalling behaviour! #honestjudge #KeepItReal #TruthPrevails (sic)”
Last week, Jason branded Gemma “lazy” and “mediocre”.
He said: “I can always see who’s lazy. Gemma is lazy. She doesn’t look like her heart is in it at all.”
The following day, their feud exploded live on ‘Dancing on Ice’ after Gemma interrupted Jason during his critique of her dance with Matt Evers, during which he said she “lacked elegance” and was “all over the place”.
However, before he could continue, she interjected and fumed: “Can I just say one thing? Maybe if you didn’t sell stories on me, I wouldn’t have been so upset this week. So take that! Boring, boring! Don’t sell stories on me.”
However, Jason fought back, telling the TV personality: “This doesn’t help your cause. It shows you’re just a brat. Listen to what we’re saying.”
When she stepped off the ice, Gemma – who scored a total of 13 out of a possible 40 for her skate – admitted she had a hard week which “knocked” her confidence.

Mindy Kaling felt ‘awful’ when The Mindy Project got cancelled

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling felt “awful” when Fox cancelled her series ‘The Mindy Project’.
The 39-year-old actress starred in the critically-acclaimed series that featured Mindy as a successful doctor who desperately wants to become a well-rounded woman with balance in her personal and professional life with mixed results.
Original broadcaster Fox decided to pull the plug on the programme in 2015 which left Mindy bereft, however, it was picked up by streaming service Hulu and went on to run for a total of seven seasons across both networks until November 2017.
Opening up about how she felt when told Fox were stopping production, she said: “It was awful. It felt personal. I was the face of the show. My name was in the title.”
Mindy first came to prominence in the US remake of sitcom ‘The Office’ and she has gone on to star in several hit films, such as ‘Ocean’s 8’, ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ and ‘Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian’.
The Indian/American actress credits her success to having “mentors” who believed in her.
She said: “For many years, I thought that hard work was the only way you could succeed, but it’s simply not true. Particularly if you’re a woman of color, you need people to give you opportunities, because otherwise it won’t happen. Talent is an important part of success, but you also need mentors to find promise in people that don’t necessarily seem like they will fit in.”
Mindy – who has a 13-month-old daughter, Katherine – believes comedy can be a short career because comics get less “funny” as they get older because of complacency.
In an interview with the latest issue of Variety magazine, she said: “Almost no one who is funny when they were younger is still funny when they’re old. Success is terrible because as you get more successful, it leeches away your talent. It makes you rich and it makes you complacent.”

It was where I lived in this bedsit in 1982 when I first came to England and it was when I got the news, she was watching this live feed on her phone and we had earpieces in, we both just burst into tears and people around us thought we had some terrible news. ”

Prince William’s mental health campaign was shunned by celebrities

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William admits a host of celebrities rejected the chance to support his mental health campaign because of the stigma surrounding the issue.
The 36-year-old royal created the Heads Together charity – which strives to support people with mental health and wellbeing concerns – in 2016, but the Prince has revealed that he and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, initially struggled to generate high-profile support for their campaign.
He shared: “When we set up the campaign not one celebrity wanted to join us, not one person wanted to help with the campaign because it was mental health.”
The Prince also claimed that British attitudes towards mental health can be traced back as far as World War Two, saying that a stiff-upper-lip approach has prevented some people from speaking honestly about their worries.
He explained: “I take it as far back as the war.
“It was very very difficult for everybody, losing so many loved ones and dealing with such horrendous circumstances that no matter how much you can talk you were never going to fix the issue.
“Completely by accident they passed that on to the next generation, we all learn from our parents we all learn from how they deal with things.
“So this whole generation inherited that this is how we deal with problems we don’t talk about them. I think that now there’s a generation here that’s realising this is not normal and we should talk about them. We should get over it.”
Meanwhile, Prince William also confessed that working in the air ambulance led him to retreat into his “shell”.
He said: “I was dealing with a lot of trauma on a day in, day out basis, stuff that your body is not programmed to deal with.
“I might have gone into my shell a bit and thought ‘I can deal with this myself’ and then potentially down the line it manifests itself in a much worse situation.”

Lauren Jauregui slams lip-syncing accusations

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Jauregui has rubbished claims she lip-synced her way through a performance on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’.
The 22-year-old singer – who rose to prominence as part of Fifth Harmony – has taken to her Twitter account to defend herself amid accusations of lip syncing during her performance of ‘More Than That’ on Tuesday (22.01.19).
The original accusation read: “She was lip syncing and it’s never been more obvious. Mouth didn’t match up with vocals, larynx wasn’t moving at all, you can tell it was recorded in a studio, Feed was way too clear. And to think I was watching this performance tonight giving her a chance. Tisk tisk. (sic)”
But Lauren quickly dismissed the claim, insisting her performance sounded so polished simply because she works alongside some of the music industry’s most talented people.
Lauren also invited the Twitter user to attend one of her shows in person to discover the truth for herself.
She responded: “Hi, hello, I don’t lip sing lol go ahead and come to one of my shows to find out if you’d like. I train. [star emoji] thank youuu [love heart emoji] and btw the feed was way too clear cause I had the BEST IN THE BIZ on that mix (sic)”
Meanwhile, Lauren recently revealed she’s been “exploring” different sounds as she’s been working on her debut solo album.
The singer – who is expected to release her album later this year – explained: “I’ve just been kind of exploring. I’m letting it be as organic as possible.
“I’ve been writing a lot and just kind of exploring myself, and you know, with each song it kind of has a new life so sometimes I’m creating it from scratch. So it all depends.”

Meanwhile, Iggy previously claimed that Twitter is “unfortunate”.
The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker is well-known for her candid posts on the popular platform, but Iggy also admitted there’s a downside to giving her fans a behind-the-scenes look into her personal life.
She shared: “Twitter is unfortunate, social media is unfortunate because it freezes that in time for us.
“In some ways, that’s good. You can look back and self reflect and say, ‘Geez, I’ve come a long way, that’s good.’ The silver lining is that you can look at that and be like, ‘Never again.’
“But I don’t really sit around thinking, ‘If only I could delete that one thing.’ You know, you’ve gotta move forward and have personal growth. I don’t really think much about that.”

Carrie endured three miscarriages during a two-year time period, and the singer admitted she was left feeling “angry” by the ordeal.

“I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No. [But after the miscarriages,] I got mad. The 43-year-old star hopes to become a part-owner of the little-known English soccer team – which plays in the fifth tier of English soccer – alongside his former Manchester United teammates Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.
Beckham said: “It is a really special club with a special group of people. My early years in Manchester were all spent in Salford. I grew up there in many ways so to be able to finally join the lads and the club today is a great feeling.
“Salford City has achieved so much success in a short space of time, the fans are incredible and I’m really excited to be spending more time in Salford again.”
Beckham is a close friend of his co-owners, having played alongside them for the Manchester United youth team during his teenage years.
And Salford City is excited about Beckham’s involvement.
In a statement, the owners explained: “From the very beginning we wanted David to be involved and be with us on this incredible journey however circumstances and commitments didn’t allow that.
“Now the time is right and it is another exciting time in Salford City’s history.”

Bono fears the fight against Aids is being lost

OHMYGOSSIP — Bono worries the fight against Aids is being lost.
The 58-year-old singer fears the world risks losing the health battle, with governments around the globe increasingly overlooking the issue in order to resolve problems in their own countries.
Bono warned: “We could lose this thing.
“We were winning. We have been somewhat put on the back foot by the understandable concern in northern economies that we have problems in our own cities.
“If there are people on the streets in our own cities, why should we care about what’s going on over there?
“The answer is that what is going on ‘over there’ affects us. If Africa loses, Europe can’t win. But we have got to get back into the conversation. We need a response to what is going on in our own cities.”
Meanwhile, Bono previously claimed he feels a responsibility to speak out in support of less fortunate people.
The U2 star – who is widely known for his philanthropic work – claimed to represent “young people who can’t be in the room” with influential politicians.
Asked whether he’s ever nervous about speaking to politicians, Bono explained: “I’m never nervous.
“They should be nervous because I’m representing people who they hold the power of life and death over, not me. I wouldn’t want to be sitting there.
“I wouldn’t want to be a lawmaker turning down an offer to increase foreign appropriations to deal with the biggest health crisis in 600 years, realising that there are people who will die as a result of that. I wouldn’t want to be that.
“So no, I’m not nervous. They should be nervous. I represent young people who can’t be in the room, and I try to do it with some grace. I try not to club my way through the argument.
“I try to speak it quietly and seriously and as delicately as I can, but I rely on the weight of the argument more than my own celebrity or my own, you know, even indignation to do the work.”

Beyonce ‘dreams of winning an Academy Award’

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce dreams of winning an Oscar, according to Sir Michael Caine.
The 85-year-old actor – who is a two-time Academy Award winner – has revealed that Beyonce spoke to him about her acting ambitions when they were working together on the 2002 comedy movie ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’.
Michael – who knows the chart-topping singer as “Be-yons” – told Rolling Stone magazine: “I knew she was a singer and had a group [Destiny’s Child]. I asked her one day, ‘What do you want to do with your life, Be-yons? And she said, ‘I want to win the Academy Award for acting.'”
Michael thinks Beyonce – who has also starred in movies like ‘The Pink Panther’ and ‘Dreamgirls’ – is a “competent actress”.
Recalling the experience of working with the singer, Michael explained: “She was very good in the movie, a very competent actress, and I thought she could get somewhere with this. She’s gone far beyond my world. She’s so big now.”
Meanwhile, Michael also revealed he no longer frets about reviews of his films.
The veteran star endured a “very hellish time” during his youth, but as he’s aged, Michael has found a sense of calm in his life.
Asked what advice he would give to his younger self, he explained: “If you’re going through hell, keep going.
“I had a very hellish time when I was young. I came out of the army when I was 20 and immediately succumbed to malaria I’d picked up in Korea. I came out the other side, but just you’ve got to keep going.
“Also, you can’t ruin my career now by giving me a bad review. I’m all right. I’m OK now. I got to a certain age where I went, ‘OK, it’s all right, mate. Stop worrying.'”

Cardi B lands Las Vegas residency

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B has landed a Las Vegas residency.
The 26-year-old rap star is set to perform at KAOS, a day club and nightclub complex in Sin City, where the venue is expected to open its doors in April.
The new KAOS venue – which is part of a broad renovation plan by the Palms Casino Resort – features more pools than any other venue in North America, as well as a 360-degree DJ booth.
Other big-name stars set to perform at KAOS include G-Eazy, Kaskade, Above & Beyond and Skrillex, all of whom have been handed residencies of their own.
Cardi released her debut studio album in 2018 and is already one of the most talked-about artists in the world.
But the ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker previously confessed she was “a little bit happier” before she was famous.
Cardi – who has six-month-old daughter Kulture with fellow rapper Offset – shared: “My family, whatever they want, they get. Everything that I want to buy, I can get.
“I don’t have to worry so much about my future … Even though I’m happy, I feel like I was a little bit happier two or three years ago when I had less money. I had less people who had opinions about my life. I felt like my life was mine. Now I feel like I don’t even own my life. I feel like the world owns me.”
Despite this, Cardi is working hard to provide the best possible life for her daughter.
She shared: “This is my work ethic: I do not want to raise my future kids where I was raised, and I know the only way to do it is working, working, working, working, working.
“I don’t want to live in a small Bronx apartment. I don’t want to have three kids that got to share one room. I don’t want my kids to go to school and get gang-affiliated. I don’t want to do welfare. I don’t.”

Azealia Banks launches another anti-Irish rant

OHMYGOSSIP — Azealia Banks has called Irish people “inbred leprechauns” in a new social media rant.
The controversial star also made light of the Potato Famine – which led to the deaths of around a million people – in her latest tirade on Instagram.
Azealia, 27 – who stormed off an aircraft headed to Dublin earlier this week following a row with an Aer Lingus stewardess – wrote to one follower: “Don’t you have a famine to go die in?”
In response to a comment from another Instagram follower, Azealia said: “Because most of you can’t talk or write lol.
“You lot are a bunch of prideful inbred leprechauns who have ZERO global influence and ZERO white privilege. The rest of the world’s white folk don’t want to associate with you lot at all and it’s because you are barbarians. (sic)”
The ‘212’ hitmaker also said: “I’m happiest knowing the Irish are quarantined on an isle so they can continue to inbreed and keep their defective genes away from humanity.”
Earlier this week, Azealia claimed she was treated like an “animal” by Aer Lingus staff.
The rapper accused the firm of banning her from flying with them ever again following her “travel day from hell”.
In a tearful rant on her Instagram Story, Azealia fumed: “I get off the plane. I’ve worked too hard in my life to be cornered by some ugly Irish b***h. They are ugly Irish women here.
“Then all these security n***** come over treating me like a wild animal. They tried their hardest to get me to do something or freak out.
“B***h you’re not going to play me over no f***ing Aer Lingus flight. You’re not going to disrespect me and make a f***ing spectacle out of me.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed Azealia had removed herself from the flight, causing the plane to be delayed.
The company added: “Aer Lingus has a strict no-tolerance policy towards disruptive guest behaviour.
“The safety and security of our guests and crew remains our first priority.”

Rebecca Ferguson marries

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Ferguson has got married.
The ‘Mission: Impossible’ actress and her partner Rory – who she has dated since 2016, yet never disclosed his surname in public – tied the knot in secret last month surrounded by their friends and families.
When asked what it means to be married, she replied: “Nothing. I think we both wanted to step over all thresholds. Also, I’m not very religious. I believe in love.
“It was more for us and our family. We rented a cottage, it was our friends and family and Wellington boots and big woolly socks and big ruggy jumpers, games, snooker, table tennis.”
Rebecca wore a “wedding skirt” rather than a traditional dress, and she plans to don the garment again in Greece this summer.
She said: “I wore a beautiful skirt, a wedding skirt, that I can shorten off, get some pockets in, and I will use in Greece for the summer. I am practical.”
The happy couple’s six-month-old daughter slept during the ceremony, but Rebecca’s son Isac Hallberg – from her previous relationship with Ludwig Hallberg – acted as the ring bearer.
And while the 35-year-old actress admitted the nuptials hasn’t really changed anything between her and Rory, she is enjoying referring to him as her “hubby”.
Speaking to Extra, the ‘Greatest Showman’ star added: “What’s fun is we keep on saying, ‘Hey hubby, hey wifey.’ It’s just fun.”
The Swedish star and her husband have a house in Simrishamn, Skane County, in her native country, as well as an abode in Richmond, south west London.
Her rep confirmed last summer that she had welcomed a baby daughter, but her name is yet to have been revealed.
