Sam Smith used to ‘hide away’ Oscar

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith used to “hide away” his Oscar because it made him “uncomfortable”.
The 26-year-old singer won an Academy Award for the best song in 2016 for his track ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, which was the theme for the James Bond film, ‘Spectre’, and it became the first Bond theme to reach No 1 in the UK pop charts in October 2015.
However, it’s only now Sam has started to “embrace” the highly-coveted gong and has finally put it on display for others to see.
Speaking to Will Manning on The Official Big Top 40, about his prestigious award, Smith said: “I used to hide it away and not look at it because it made me uncomfortable but now I’ve got it out and I’m trying to embrace it.”
The ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ hitmaker initially found it very “exciting” being asked to record a song for the iconic movie franchise but it then became an “unbelievably stressful” experience because everyone has their own expectations of what makes a great Bond theme.
He said: “It’s very exciting when it happens and you get the call and then the song’s done. But after you release it, there’s not one person that’s ever released a Bond song that has got all positive feedback.
“It’s so brutal actually in terms of releasing music, you know, because not everyone’s going to be happy because everyone’s got, in their head, what is a Bond song.
“But do you know what, in terms of experiences, I’m so, so honoured to have done it and I still love it and I love singing it and yeah, it’s a beautiful part of me now – I love it.”
Sam also revealed that he would like to hang his mic up in the future and instead “open a flower shop” to lead a quiet life.
Asked about his previous comments about retiring when he’s 30, he said: “I’ve said that in the past but I’m definitely not. I’ll carry on. But when I’m, I think 45, I’d like to have kids and just move away and open up a flower shop somewhere and pretend like it all didn’t happen.”

Russell Brand urges fans to beware of social media addiction

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Brand has urged his fans to “be aware” of their social media use.
The 43-year-old comic worries that users go online to seek validation and “love that feels like connection” through networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and insisted that the “impulse that is being fulfilled” by using such sites could be better achieved through human relationships.
Speaking on a video posted on his Twitter account, Russell said: “My belief is that all forms of addiction are if not the same, comparable in that they ultimately try to access the same dopamine hit that feels like love that feels like connection.
“If you’re looking at too much social media, start being a bit aware of it. Don’t you have that thing on your phone that tells you, ‘You look at this thing three hours a day’ Don’t you feel a bit sick when you read that?
“I feel like the impulse that is being fulfilled by looking at social media could be fulfilled through genuine human connections.”
The ‘Get Him to the Greek’ star – who has been open about his own addiction struggles – went on to offer viewers a method of cultivating their relationships and personal ability to selflessly care for another individual simply through phoning someone “you care about” each day.
He said: “This is a really good technique, basically try to everyday call someone up you care about and ask if they’re OK and watch how quickly the conversation migrates back to you.
“It’s good to build into your life people that you can’t get anything from and that you can only care for because it cultivates that aspect of yourself and that aspect of yourself is difficult to taint with commodified relationships, such as we experience in the virtual online world.
“Cultivate your kindness, cultivate your compassion, it’s the only way that you will ever be free.”

Kerry Katona’s favourite marriage was to Brian McFadden

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona’s marriage to Brian McFadden was her “favourite” – but she thinks he’s a “d**khead”.
The former Atomic Kitten star – who married the singer in 2002 but they split two years later and she later wed Mark Croft and then George Kay – was unimpressed when her first husband recently branded the institution of marriage “disposable” but she still has fond memories of their time together.
She said: “‘He can be a right d***head, that ex-husband of mine. Brian went on ‘Loose Women’ and said that marriage was ‘disposable’ and ‘just a party.’
“I get it – he has a girlfriend and has to be respectful, but it was a weird thing to say considering he was married to me.
“He’s always going to be in my life and I wish him well, but my side of the story is very different.
“In my opinion, it was my favourite marriage and I’m not going to let him take that away from me.”
The 38-year-old star – who has Molly, 17, and Lilly-Sue, 15, with Brian, Heidi, 11, and Maxwell, 10, with Mark and Dylan-Jorge, four, with George – hailed her union with the former Westlife singer as “iconic” and claimed even now fans want her to reunite with her first husband.
She added in her column to new! magazine: “Yes it was a bloody great party, but he cheated on me with a lap dancer and that broke us.
“We were such an iconic couple at the time – even now I get messages from people telling me to get back with Brian. But it’s been 15 years. I’ve popped out 70 kids since then.”
Kerry also admitted that Brian – who has also been married to Vogue Williams and is now in a relationship with teacher Danielle Parkinson – was never particularly hands-on when their kids were young.
She said: “While my other husbands were quite hands-on, I only ever left Brian with Molly and Lilly overnight once and I almost had a breakdown!
“Bri wasn’t one to change or feed the kids and I knew if I wasn’t doing it, it wouldn’t get done properly.”

Fearne Cotton’s marital ‘rough patch’

OHMYGOSSIP — Fearne Cotton has candidly admitted her marriage went through a “rough patch” recently.
The 37-year-old presenter – who has children Rex, five, and Honey, three, with spouse Jesse Wood – and the musician were struggling to find time for one another and ended up “desperately clinging on” to their relationship.
She said:” Love takes hard work – and no one wants to hear that.
“This year, Jesse and I hit a rough patch – he was away, touring relentlessly, I was trying to keep my own career going while looking after our kids and we were both desperately clinging on to our marriage.”
The couple’s problems eventually came to a head with a two-hour “screaming match” where they worried their “love had gone”.
She added in her column for Red magazine: “One blustery and grey day, this culminated in a screaming match in our local park, which lasted about two hours until we both broke and cried.
“Luckily, my husband is the most emotionally literate person, so we can be completely vulnerable in front of one another.
“In the midst of this gargantuan row, I think we both wondered where the love had gone and worried that it might not come back.”
Thankfully, the couple were able to work through their differences and their relationship is now even stronger.
She said: “But, through talking and understanding one another, we broke through the s**t bit and found ourselves, strangely, in an even deeper kind of love.
“We knew each other that bit better, we respected each other that bit more.
“In that moment, we both stopped to remember that we are passionate in these situations because we care deeply.”

Tori Spelling ordered to pay credit card debt

OHMYGOSSIP — Tori Spelling has been ordered to pay a credit card bill of almost $90,000.
The ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ actress was sued by American Express for months of unpaid bills and the company then filed a court order forcing judgement earlier this month.
According to documents obtained by US Weekly magazine, American Express were looking to collect $88,246.55 from the 45-year-old star.
This isn’t the first piece of financial bad news for Tori and her husband, Dean McDermott – who have children Liam, 11, Stella, 10, Hattie, seven, Finn, six, and Beau, 22 months together – as last September she was faced with another legal judgement over an unpaid credit card bill.
A company called Cavalry SPV – which buys debt – obtained a default judgement against the actress, who was originally sued by Citibank over the bill, and it was revealed she owed them $5,043.32.
And in 2017, The Franchise Tax Board in California claimed the ‘Family Plan’ actress owed $338,595.78 in unpaid taxes from 2014-2015.
She and Dean were also hit with a default $200,000 judgment in November 2017 after allegedly failing to pay back a bank loan of $400,000.
Tori has previously admitted she can’t let go of her “expensive tastes”, even when she makes a conscious decision to be more frugal.
Writing in her 2013 autobiography, ‘Spelling It Like It Is’, she explained: “It’s no mystery why I have money problems.
“I grew up rich beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. I never knew anything else. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle, I can’t seem to let go of my expensive tastes.
“Even when my tastes aren’t fancy, they’re still costly. I moved houses to simplify my life, but lost almost a million dollars along the way.”

Halsey reveals why she didn’t comment on G-Eazy break up

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey didn’t speak about her break up with G-Eazy as she didn’t want to become a “personality”.
The 24-year-old singer admitted that following her split with the rapper six months ago, she felt immense pressure to comment publicly as she’s been so open about her life in the past, but, decided to keep quiet as she wanted to “make art not headlines”.
In an interview with America’s Glamour magazine, she said: “The biggest lesson I learned was to make art, not headlines, because it can become quite easy, in the social media generation, to go from being a musician to becoming a personality.”
The ‘Bad At Love’ hitmaker released her latest single, ‘Without You’, at a pivotal moment in her life, and confessed that the song is about losing sight of yourself and your own personality after an intense relationship with someone else.
She said: “I call myself a collector; I collect things from people and use them to widen my artistic repertoire, so that I am writing from a culmination of experiences from the world, but I’m an imitator as well, because I’m so passionately putting myself in other people’s shoes all the time.”
“I beat myself up for a long time, I was like, ‘You’re f***ing spineless’ Why do you have to become everyone you’re around? Why do you have to imitate all of their interests, all of their f*****g mannerisms, and their personality?
“Why can’t you just know who the f**k you are and be strong in that? But I realised that will never happen. So instead I started surrounding myself with people I admire and really like.”

Prior to his injury, Ryan admitted to relishing his ‘Dancing On Ice’ experience – even though it’s proven to be the “hardest thing” he’s ever done.
Ryan, 41 – who retired from cricket in 2017 – told Sporting Life: “Make no mistake, it’s definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done but it’s been so much fun and I’ve had such wonderful support from the public with many lovely messages on Twitter and Instagram.
“I called in at Costa this morning and two ladies stopped me to wish me well and say how much they enjoyed the routine on Sunday.
“It’s weird, you get known for playing cricket but now it seems like ‘Dancing On Ice’ is more important and it’s quite hard to get my head around. People have been so kind and supportive and it means a lot.

Vanessa Hudgens wants High School Musical to feature an LGBTQ character

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Hudgens hopes the ‘High School Musical’ TV series will feature an LGBTQ character.
The 30-year-old actress – who starred as Gabriella Montez in the ‘High School Musical’ film series – has voiced her support for an LGBTQ character appearing in the upcoming TV show.
Vanessa said: “I think that it’s so important. In high school, there’s so many different types of people and everyone should be addressed.
“We’re all equals, everyone has a fair shot to have their story revealed and explored.”
The brunette beauty also stressed the importance of campaigning for LGBTQ rights.
She told Gay Times: “I was very privileged in the sense that I grew up in a household where everyone was equal, I never saw colour, I never saw race, I never saw sexuality or gender preference, I never saw any of that. Everyone was equal to me.
“I never really batted an eye that anyone was different from me. We are different, that’s what makes us unique and individuals, but at the end of the day, we’re all human beings who want love.
“Not everyone is as privileged as me or had parents who were as accepting as mine were, so I think that it is really important to show people that we all just wanna be loved, and we all deserve the same life. It’s so important to fight for humanity.”
Meanwhile, Vanessa recently urged her young female fans to embrace their “weirdness”.
She told them: “I think it is so important for us to lean into our individuality and to embrace our weirdness, to not be afraid of being different, because God made you you for a reason, so know that in your heart, you are enough, and the more that you lean into that, the brighter you will shine.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Headey admits the ending of ‘Game of Thrones’ made her feel “emotional”.
The 45-year-old actress – who stars as Cersei Lannister on the HBO drama series – has revealed she was overcome by emotion during her last days on set.
Lena – who made her ‘Game of Thrones’ debut in 2011 – told ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’: “I knew that David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], our creators, were doing speeches and giving everybody these drawings of the storyboards.
“And I suddenly got really emotional at the end and tried to head down the stairs. They all rushed up and trapped me. And then they gave the speech, and it was really moving.”
Lena also revealed that – much like the show’s fans – the cast are always keen to discover how the story will evolve.

Iggy Azalea celebrates Australia Day in Sydney

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea celebrated Australia Day (26.01.19) on a private boat in Sydney Harbour.
The 28-year-old rap star – who was born in Sydney but now resides in Los Angeles – has taken to her Instagram account to reveal how she marked the official national day of Australia, posting a video of herself in the city’s iconic harbour.
During a clip in which she panned around the harbour, Iggy said: “Back in Australia! Happy Australia Day.”
The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker – whose real name is Amethyst Kelly – also posted footage of herself chewing on an ice lolly.
Iggy’s patriotic video comes shortly after the rap star seemingly distanced herself from the country of her birth.
The blonde beauty – who has lived in the US since she was 16 – claimed she doesn’t miss anything about Australia and that she doesn’t consider the country to be her true home.
Iggy explained: “I don’t know why people get so offended as [Australia] is not my home. I don’t miss Australia.”
Prior to that, Iggy insisted she doesn’t feel any “connection” with the country, revealing she only visits Australia in order to visit her grandparents.
She said: “I mean, to be honest with you, my home is in America. It’s great to come back [to Australia] and visit my grandparents, but there is no home connection.”
What’s more, Iggy previously said that she wouldn’t be touring Australia because it didn’t make financial sense.
She wrote on Twitter: “It’s a hard one to profit from honestly, it’s far, and would have to be part of a bigger group of shows in Asia etc etc (sic)”

Bella Thorne: No one understands bisexuality

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Thorne thinks “no one understands bisexuality”.
The 21-year-old actress – who came out as bisexual in August 2016 – has claimed that attitudes towards sexuality continue to be clouded by narrow-mindedness.
She explained to Gay Times: “It seems like no one understands bisexuality at all. In this world it’s like you’re either gay or you’re straight; there’s no in between. If you f***ed a guy once, you must be gay.
“Like, what? No. That’s just been fluid.”
The ‘Famous in Love’ star also revealed she finds it easier to date men than women.
Bella – who has previously admitted to having crushes on the likes of Demi Lovato and Camila Cabello – said: “It’s so hard. I can’t tell if a girl is trying to be best friends with me or if she wants to get with me or if she just wants social media followers.
“I’m just so confused when a girl talks to me. Girls can be very flirtatious, so I don’t want to make a move, and then you be like, ‘Whoa, girl. Not what I was thinking, I don’t roll that way.’
“Then it’s so awkward. So I end up usually dating more guys, because with guys, I know if a guy’s hitting me up. They’re not just texting me to be my bestie. I know they want something, of some sort.”
Meanwhile, Bella – who is currently dating rapper Mod Sun – previously admitted she still feels “mad” at herself for not doing anything to stop her abuser.
The actress – who revealed she had been sexually abused for years – said she still feels guilty that she never reported the abuse.
Bella explained: “I always think, ‘Maybe you could have done something.’ It kind of makes me mad, because I read these stories that are really awful – I mean, really awful … it’s really something getting ripped and taken from you. At least those girls tried. I just laid there, comatose.”

Dido had point to prove

OHMYGOSSIP — Dido became a solo singer to “prove a point” to her brother.
The ‘Thank You’ hitmaker was advised by Faithless’ Rollo not to give up her “respectable” job to pursue a music career because he felt there were a “million better singers” around who were struggling to find success.
She told Q magazine: “The way it worked back then was we were all in Swanyard Studios in Islington. There was Faithless, Pauline Taylor, and all these people making records.
“We all did our own thing and everyone else worked on everybody else’s stuff.
“So it came out of this really natural thing.
“And then I went to America and I definitely wanted to prove a point to my brother.
“I remember him saying, because I had a respectable job working in publishing, ‘Do not give up your job, don’t leave, singers don’t make it, there’s a million better singers than you.’ And that’s what gave me my drive!
“This whole thing might have been me going, ‘I’m gonna show my big brother.’ It’s all a big accident.
“I remember things kicking off with ‘No Angel’ and I think it was Maxi (Jazz, Faithless singer), cos he’d heard Rollo say the original thing, who said to him, ‘You might wanna take that back now.’ ”
The 47-year-old star used to sing backing vocals for Faithless before making it big alone and though she enjoyed not having the “responsibility” of being in the spotlight, she prefers being a solo artist.
She said: “I loved being with Faithless but as a solo artist we had such a good time and I had such a brilliant band.
“Faithless was really fun and I enjoyed it but doing my own thing was the best.
“In Faithless, I was just a backing vocalist, an utterly unimportant part of it all. There’s something nice about being part of the band without any of the responsibility though.”

The Game apologises to Kanye West amid sex claims

OHMYGOSSIP — The Game apologised to Kanye West after rapping about having sex with his wife.
The 39-year-old rapper – who is a long-time friend of Kanye – has apologised to the 41-year-old star for speaking about Kim Kardashian West in a new song that he premiered at a listening party on Thursday night (24.01.19).
On the track, The Game describes his supposed sexual encounter with Kim in graphic detail, before adding: “I should apologise cause Ye my folks, n*****. (sic)”
The Game previously claimed on a track to have had sex with more than one of the Kardashian sisters – although he insisted that he didn’t mean to “disrespect” anyone in making the claim.
In fact, the rapper said that Kanye is a “good friend”, and that he and Kim, 38 – who has kids North, five, Saint, three, and 12-month-old Chicago – have a “beautiful” family.
He reflected: “Kanye is a really good friend of mine, and they got really, really beautiful kids, and I don’t want to disrespect their family.”
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Soulja Boy accused Kanye of “disrespecting” black culture by pledging his support for US President Donald Trump.
The rapper revealed he won’t consider working with Kanye until he “tightens up” his act, as he referenced the VMAs in 2009 when he interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech.
He said: “I would love to get back in the studio with Kanye, but Kanye, you gotta tighten up. I don’t like what you’ve been doing.
“You run on the stage and you take the mic from Taylor Swift. How disrespectful are you? … Do you know what I would’ve done if he did that to my little sister? She’s having an acceptance speech for an award and you disrespectfully grab the mic out of her hand? What is wrong with you, Kanye?
“I don’t want to make no music with you right now until you tighten up. You’re disrespecting our culture. You’re wearing a Trump hat. You know what you’re doing.”

Matt LeBlanc ‘stole’ a Friends prop for an electrician

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt LeBlanc “stole” a prop from the set of ‘Friends’ as a present for an electrician.
The 51-year-old actor – who starred as Joey Tribbiani on the NBC sitcom – has revealed he took a Magna Doodle hanging on the door of his character’s apartment to give to Paul Swain, who was part of the ‘Friends’ crew and used to draw little images on the prop.
Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Matt confessed: “I stole it and gave it to him, so he’s got it. So, that’s kind of cool. I could have sold it for a lot more.”
Matt also took the foosball from Joey’s foosball table.
But he jokingly added: “I couldn’t fit the couch in my car.”
Matt – who starred as Joey on ‘Friends’ from 1994 to 2004 – previously admitted he doesn’t think a ‘Friends’ reunion would work because he’s too old.
In response to speculation that the iconic comedy programme was set to return to TV screens, he said: “I don’t think anybody wants to see Joey at his colonoscopy!”
Matt understands why fans of the sitcom are so desperate for a ‘Friends’ reunion, but he explained that the show’s humour belonged to a particular period in the characters’ lives.
He reflected: “I understand that people really want to see that reunion. But that show was about a finite period in these six characters lives, between 20 and 30.”
Matt used an analogy to further explain his view.
He said: “I think it’s almost a case of, like, the book is better than the movie.
“I think everyone’s imagination of what they [the characters] are doing is better.”

Vanessa Hudgens: It’s important to have someone to lean on

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Hudgens thinks it’s imperative to have someone to “lean on”.
The 30-year-old actress – who stars as Maureen Johnson in ‘Rent: Live’, a TV production of the musical ‘Rent’ – believes that creating a sense of “community” is one of the keys to tackling issues like depression.
Vanessa – who has been in a relationship with Austin Butler since 2011 – shared: “I feel like over the past year or two, there’s been so many suicides … to be honest, that it’s really disheartening and depressing to know that these people who we’ve looked up to, designers or artists or musicians have taken their own lives and the people around them had no idea that they were in this state of depression.
“I feel like it’s so important for everyone and anyone no matter your circumstances to have a community – a group of people that you can lean on, be inspired by, bounce things off of, and the core of ‘Rent’ is that. It’s this group of artists coming together, having each other to lean on and push through difficult times.”
Vanessa explained that the themes of ‘Rent’ – which was developed in the 90s – are as relevant today as they ever have been.
The brunette beauty – who stars alongside Jordan Fisher and Tinashe in ‘Rent: Live’ – told E! News: “We are all in a time and age where there’s a lot going on in the world and the things that are dealt with in ‘Rent’ are things that are still being dealt with in our current communities.
“People are still dealing with AIDs. Gentrification in new cities and rent prices going up is a real thing. There’s props where we’re voting on them to see what’s going to happen. It’s all so relevant.”
