Kate Hudson clarifies ‘genderless’ parenting comments

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson claims she isn’t raising her daughter to be genderless.
The 39-year-old actress gave birth to her daughter Rani Rose – whom she has with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa – three months ago, and recently said she was taking a “genderless” approach to parenting.
But now, she’s clarified her comments after some people believed she meant she was going to raise her daughter to be genderless, rather than simply avoiding stereotypes in her parenting techniques.
Kate – who is also mother to sons Ryder, 14, and Bingham, seven, from previous relationships – wrote on Instagram: “Recently someone asked me something along the lines of, if having and raising a girl is different from boys. My response was simple. Not really. The whole click bait tactic of saying I’m raising my daughter to be ‘genderless’ is silly and frankly doesn’t even make sense.
“I raise and will continue to raise my children, both my boys and girl to feel free to be exactly who they want to be. To feel confident in their life choices and feel loved and supported no matter what. Me saying a ‘genderless approach’ was a way of refocusing the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype. It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be king. And that’s fine by me.”
In her original interview last week, Kate said she wouldn’t be raising her daughter any differently to how she raises her two sons.
Asked whether her approach to parenting has changed since having a daughter, she said: “It doesn’t really change my approach, but there’s definitely a difference.
“I think you just raise your kids individually, regardless – like, a genderless [approach].
“We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as.”

Jada Pinkett Smith taught kids how ‘privileged’ they are from an early age

OHMYGOSSIP — Jada Pinkett Smith took her children to homeless shelters when they were young, so they could understand how “privileged” they are.
The 47-year-old actress is mother to Jaden, 20, and Willow, 18, whom she has with her husband Will Smith – with whom she also helped raise his 26-year-old son Trey from a previous marriage – and says it was important for her to teach her brood about “life beyond all the twinkles and lights” of Hollywood, so they understood how lucky they were.
Jada said: “They had to start their charity lifestyle very early, [at] five years old they were in the orphanages at homeless shelters.
“They got to see that there’s life beyond all the twinkles and lights. That was really important to me, that they understood that listen you guys are really privileged and you are to learn how to offer and offer yourself and be in service to the world. I think Will and I always led with that.
“They got to see very early, life is not a game and all of this here it’s not yours, me and daddy worked for all of this. I’d tell them, ‘Your room? That’s temporary! That ain’t your room, that’s a room you’re using in our house.'”
Both Jaden and Willow kickstarted their own careers in the industry from an early age, and the ‘Girls Trip’ star believes it was crucial for her kids to learn how to “grind and work hard”.
Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday (27.01.19), she added: “As much as people got on me in regards to having them work early, I did not want them to grow up thinking that because they were in the midst of affluence that they did not have to grind or work hard on their own.
“[Working at an early age] got them a taste [of hard work], and they really had a lot of respect for their parents in regards to what we were doing.”

Duke and Duchess of Sussex to spend Valentine’s Day apart

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to spend Valentine’s Day (14.02.19) apart.
The British royals – who married in May at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle – are preparing for their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, but it appears they will spend the annual day of romance in separate countries.
Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry will be visiting Exercise Clockwork – which has trained more than 16,000 Royal Marines and Royal Navy sailors and airmen since 1969 – in Norway on February 14.
A tweet from the palace read: “The Duke of Sussex, Captain General @RoyalMarines, will visit Exercise Clockwork to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the operation in Bardufoss, Norway on Thursday 14th February. (sic)”
On the other hand, the Duchess – who was known as Meghan Markle prior to marrying the Prince – is set to remain at home, where she’s preparing for the arrival of their first child.
Meanwhile, prior to their wedding, Duchess Meghan admitted she loves “a great love story”, and that the couple were eager to make the most of the first few months of their romance.
The former ‘Suits’ star also acknowledged that over time, they would have to share more of themselves and their relationship with the public.
The Duchess confessed: “We’re a couple. We’re in love.
“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.
“It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”

Bella Thorne ‘depressed’ by social media

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Thorne says social media makes her “depressed”.
The 21-year-old actress has revealed that although she spends a lot of her evenings scrolling through social media sites, she often ends up feeling “uncomfortable” with what she sees, and says the experience leaves her “really sad”.
Speaking to the February issue of Gay Times magazine, she said: “I’m not gonna lie, Instagram never really makes me feel comfortable. I’m never like, ‘Oh, I feel so comfortable that I’m scrolling through Instagram.’ If anything, Instagram makes me feel uncomfortable at almost all times. Yeah, it’s nice to know what everyone is doing, like literally, what the f**k is everybody doing right now? But beside that, when I scroll through my phone on social media at night, it ends up making me really sad. Something about it makes me depressed, so I always end up tossing my phone down and lying on the bed huffing and puffing.”
Her comments come after she previously boasted that she was able to pay for her home with the money she earned from posting promotional content on her Instagram, as she said brands will pay as much as $65,000 for a picture.
The ‘Famous In Love’ star said: “For [an Instagram] grid posting, it’s 65 grand a post. For story posting, it’s anywhere from 10 to 20K, and for Snapchat, it’s the same as Insta story.
“Instagram is 100 percent a job to me. I started out at 18 with literally $200 in my bank account and I bought this house a year later, a year and a half. That’s all from social media.”
Bella insists her passion for posting on her social media accounts was something she was “raised” with, but understands that not everything she sees on the apps she uses is “real”.
She added: “I was raised to think that social media is everything. When I was younger my mum would surround me with social media, and it was always like ‘Let’s bake cupcakes so we can take a photo of it.’ You know? Like, what about baking cupcakes? And not taking a photo of it? Which I think is where people really get lost in the world of social media, is what’s real and what’s fake.”

Jada Pinkett Smith almost quit acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Jada Pinkett Smith almost quit acting to study psychology.
The 47-year-old actress admits that whilst she was always sure that she wanted to pursue a Hollywood career as a child, she “lost” her “desire” for acting after a while, and seriously considered walking away in order to go back to school and study psychology.
She said: “There were no questions in my early years. Maybe later on. I kind of lost my desire to be in this industry for a lot of different reasons, and I was actually thinking about going back to school for psychology.”
The ‘Girls Trip’ star ultimately decided to stick to her acting career because she’d already come so far, but took a short break in order to wait until she felt “motivated” enough to take on another movie.
Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival, she added: “I was like, you’ve been doing this a long time, girl. Just sit back. I just had to wait until I was motivated again. I had to wait until something came along and sparked me because I had just lost the desire to be in this game.”
It isn’t the first time Jada has voiced her battles with her career, as on an episode of her Facebook Watch show ‘Red Table Talk’ last year, she revealed she had a “complete emotional collapse” after she reached “a certain amount of success”.
She said: “I had gotten to LA and gotten a certain amount of success and realised that that wasn’t the answer. It wasn’t what was going to make everything okay. [It] actually made this worse. I was extremely suicidal, I had a complete emotional collapse.”
“It’s like when you just don’t have control over emotions,, your thoughts, you feel completely and utterly out of control. I don’t even think at that particular time I understood what I was going through.”

Annie Lennox wants people involved in global feminism

OHMYGOSSIP — Annie Lennox wants more people to talk about “global feminism”.
The 64-year-old singer is happy people are starting to “talk comfortably” about feminism now, but says more work needs to be done in encouraging everybody around the world to stand up against “disrespect, abuse and disempowerment”.
She said: “My current focus is to bring the term ‘Global Feminism’ into the zeitgeist. I’m so happy we can use the ‘F’ word now and talk comfortably about being feminists! Not so long ago, you couldn’t even get the word ‘feminist’ published as people felt uncomfortable with it. But the word has come out of the shadows and everyone seems to be using it. Terminology is incredibly important.
“Global Feminism absolutely includes and welcomes men. We need men who are proud to identify with this issue. We are not criticising men per se, we are criticising negative and abusing behaviours. At the end of the day, Global Feminism is about the fundamental human rights of girls and women – why should we continue to tolerate disrespect, abuse and disempowerment.”
Annie is mother to two daughters – Lola, 28, and Tali, 25 – and says she’s “proud” of who they are as “human beings”, as she’s made sure to raise them with a level of compassion she didn’t have in her own upbringing.
Speaking to the March issue of Good Housekeeping magazine – which goes on sale on January 30 – the ‘Why’ hitmaker said: “I think my daughters [Lola, 28 and Tali, 25] respect what I’ve done and am trying to do…I’m so proud of both the girls as human beings. I grew up in Scotland in the 50s and in my background, nobody hugged or kissed. It was viewed as too soft, as time were hard and the culture contained a great deal of stoic reserve…I’ve tried to make up for what I didn’t have in my own childhood; I think hugging is very important along with telling people – especially your children – that you love them.”

Rob Kardashian ‘mad’ at Blac Chyna over custody agreement

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Kardashian is said to be “mad” after Blac Chyna jetted off to Hawaii whilst she was meant to have custody of their daughter Dream.
The 31-year-old reality star has two-year-old Dream with his former partner Chyna, and is believed to be angry after she spent the weekend in Honolulu, Hawaii and planned on having Dream stay with a nanny, rather than letting Rob keep her for longer as per their custody agreement.
A source told People magazine: “Chyna planned on having Dream stay with a nanny in LA while she was in Hawaii. Rob is mad because if either parent is out of town, the other parent is supposed to have the option to keep Dream longer.
“Rob doesn’t want Dream to stay alone with a nanny while Chyna parties in Hawaii. This is what he is mad about. She needs to tell him when she won’t be in LA so Rob can keep Dream longer. Rob is getting his lawyer involved.”
Rob’s alleged anger comes after police recently visited the home of Blac Chyna – who also has son King Cairo, six, with ex-partner Tyga – when an anonymous call was placed alleging she was too drunk to look after her brood.
Recently, Chyna’s lawyer Lisa Bloom has spoken out on the situation, saying the children are doing fine and were “never in any danger”.
She said: “Chyna’s children, King Cairo and Dream Renée, are both healthy and doing very well. They were never in any danger and any reports to the contrary are entirely false.
“I remind the public that anyone who submits a knowingly false report to Child Protective Services may be subject to criminal and civil liability.”
It was previously revealed police had called to Chyna’s home after receiving an anonymous call alleging the ‘Rob + Chyna’ star was intoxicated and neglecting her children.
However, when cops got to the house, they found no one was drunk and not only were her children being properly looked after, there was also a nanny in attendance at the property.

Channing Tatum’s number one priority

OHMYGOSSIP — Channing Tatum has moved around his work commitments so he can consistently spend time with his daughter Everly.
The ‘Magic Mike XXL’ star has been trying his best to make things easy for his and Jenna Dewan’s little girl following their split last year and has vowed to only work on the days he doesn’t see her to give her a schedule.
He wrote in court documents: “In my opinion and experience, Everly has appeared to adjust to our separation and living in two homes exceptionally well. I believe that she will thrive even more with structure and consistency because she is happy and more relaxed when she knows a plan. I’ve decorated Everly’s room very girly in a fairytale and fantasy theme (i.e. Alice and Wonderland), with pictures of Everly with both [Jenna Dewan] and me on trips. I put time and thought into making Everly’s room, as well as an outdoor art space at the house, as comfortable as possible for her to facilitate the transitions. She has learned about different artists, such a Jackson Pollock, and we try to replicate his work as well as the work of other artists. I am committed to spending my custodial periods with Everly.”
Channing is asking to see his five-year-old daughter every Monday and Tuesday, with Jenna seeing her on Wednesdays and Thursdays and then alternating on weekends so they get equal time with her.
He also wants to see her on opposite Christmas Eve’s and Christmas Day’s as well as New Year’s and proposes they split her birthday in half if no joint event is planned. Channing has also asked to spend two hours together as a family on Halloween so they can both be involved, The Blast reports.

Lily-Rose Depp likes to be mysterious

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily-Rose Depp likes to stay mysterious.
The 19-year-old actress and model says her famous parents Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have always taught her the “value” of privacy and have encouraged her to have as “normal” a life as possible.
She said: “My parents have always wanted me to have as normal of a life as possible and have really taught me to value privacy and your personal life … There’s definitely something to be said about not giving everything away. It’s complicated enough to navigate being in the public eye when you’re young and growing up under that spotlight. It’s just really knowing what I am okay with sharing and knowing what I want for myself.”
And the ‘Faithful Man’ star has slammed rumours she gets roles just because of her famous parents and in fact, says she regrets these parts because she doesn’t want to be hired just because of her relatives.
Speaking to the February issue of Australia’s Vogue magazine: “It is obviously a really easy assumption to make to think that I would just have roles landing on my doorstep because of my name, but that’s an idea I’ve always kind of rejected … I’ve always been under the impression that I have to work twice as hard to prove to people that I’m not just here because it’s easy for me. I feel like you’re not what your name is. If you’re not right for something, they’re not just going to hire you because your name looks good on the post.”

Taraji P. Henson calls for equality at Hollywood Walk of Fame induction

OHMYGOSSIP — Taraji P. Henson called for equality in the acting world as she was honoured with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (28.01.19).
The ‘Empire’ star gave an empowering speech about how she hopes the next generation of female actresses won’t have to “fight” to get the best roles like she has had to during her 18-year career.
R&B legend Mary J. Blige and her ‘Baby Boy’ director John Singleton presented Henson with the top honour.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, she said: “I fight for roles that will break through glass ceilings so that these young women coming behind me, they won’t have the same narrative that we have.
“We can’t drop the torch now, ladies out there, anybody in the industry, but we also need our men.
“That’s why I love men, I protect them because we need each other. We can’t bash each other, we have to reach across the table and help each other.”
The 48-year-old star – who is engaged to retired American football cornerback Kelvin Hayden – also dedicated her star to her grandmother and admitted she wouldn’t be where she is today without the “prayers” and “unconditional love” she gave her and their family.
When asked about her grandparent, Henson told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “You put me on the spot! But, what I love about my grandmother is her unconditional love.
“She taught the family how to love, and she keeps us very close.
“All my cousins and I are really, really close. But of course, she prayed.
“She did a lot of praying and she continues to pray for me, and like I said in my speech, her prayers definitely brought me here. So, my grandmother’s my everything.”
The ‘Hidden Figures’ star also opened up about her next role in a movie about Emmet Till, an African-American teenager who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of offending a white woman in her family’s grocery store.
Henson admitted it will be “bittersweet” and she is “dreading” it “a little bit” – but she is up for the “challenge”.
She said: “It’s going to be bittersweet, because yes, it’s a story that absolutely needs to be told.
“But you know, when I play those dark – I’m such a bright person, you know?
“I’m, like, dreading a little bit having to stay in those places for however long it takes us to film it, but I’m ready for it.
“I’m ready for the challenge, because, again, I do work that hopefully affects and moves humanity forward in a positive way.”

Zac Efron stepped up game after seeing Lily Collins act

OHMYGOSSIP — Zac Efron felt he needed to “step up his game” after watching Lily Collins act.
The 31-year-old actor stars opposite the 29-year-old actress in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ and admits he felt he had to bring his A-game after seeing Lily on set.
He said: “I remember a few days into filming, I just came to work to watch on set because [Lily] was having scenes with Haley Joel Osment, and I was watching her performance and I was blown away. She was bringing it, and this was, like, the fourth of fifth day of filming. I was like, I really need to step up my game. Lily is killing it.”
In the movie, Zac plays serial killer Ted Bundy, who charmed his 30 or more female victims before murdering them in the 1970s, and he hopes to get across Ted’s charming nature, which led so many women to be taken in by his lies.
He added to E! News: “The most exciting thing for me was being able to sort of lend that Ted Bundy charisma to the part. I hope that’s what comes across the most … He was the first mass manipulator of the world. It’s kinda crazy [that people] didn’t believe [it happened]. People that watched the trial, that were with him in prison, on his defence team, anybody who knew him growing up, they never had bad things to say about the guy. Not a single person. And all the way to the very end of his trial when he was finally found guilty, a lot of people still didn’t believe it … it’s kinda crazy. Luckily, I didn’t have to get into his mind. I got to observe and figure out what he would be up to or what he would be thinking … he’s so off the map.”

Gerard Way’s music inspiration

OHMYGOSSIP — Gerard Way was inspired to write music by the TV adaptation of his own comic book series ‘The Umbrella Academy’.
The My Chemical Romance star has started penning a track, which he thinks will be perfect for the Netflix series, after spending the day on set.
He said: “When I was on set the very first day and we were watching the very first shot, which was a scene between Ellen and Aidan. It’s the very last shot of the pilot and they’re talking about the end of the world and it’s supposed to cut to black. And a song popped into my head for that and I started writing this song that I ended up recording. I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s a song I would love to give to the show.”
And the 41-year-old musician says making music is one of the four most important focuses in his life.
He added to Billboard: “There’s three things that are the focus of my life besides family as being the most important thing. One, writing these two comics I write – Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol. Two, making music once a week and releasing new songs – I was trying to do it every month but it’s now going to turn into longer gaps of releasing songs. And then my well-being is the other thing, like my physical fitness and my diet, making big life changes and quitting smoking – things like that. I did not take of myself for the last two, three years writing comic books. I’m starting to really take care of myself again.”

Angelina Jolie joins thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie is set to star in original thriller ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’.
The 43-year-old actor has been cast by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan – who is best known for his work on ‘Hell or High Water’ – in his big screen adaptation of Michael Koryta’s 2014 tome about fourteen-year-old Jace Wilson, who witnesses a brutal murder and is given a false identity and sent on a program for troubled teens.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will move away from some of the main parts of the suspense story.

Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus’ ‘spur-of-the-moment’ wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus’ wedding was “spur-of-the-moment”.
The couple tied the knot in December after nearly a decade together on and off and the ‘Last Song’ star has revealed it wasn’t “hard” to organise because they only have a small group of friends and family.
He said: “It wasn’t hard – we have a small group of friends. It was mainly immediate family, a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.”
And the 29-year-old actor says it is “same but different” being married to Miley as they have been together so long.
He added to Extra TV: “I am very happy to be where I am. It’s the same but different [because we’ve been together for] the better part of 10 years.”

Police called to fight between Blac Chyna and boyfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Police and paramedics were called to Blac Chyna’s hotel room after she got into a fight with her boyfriend.
The ‘Rob + Chyna’ star is on vacation in Hawaii with Kid Buu but things turned sour on Monday (28.01.19) when they allegedly got into a heated altercation at the Ritz-Carlton in Honolulu after the 30-year-old former make-up artist accused her partner of being unfaithful and the row turned violent.
Sources told TMZ that Chyna scratched Kid Buu, and he is alleged to have then slammed her against a wall several times and choked her, prompting someone to call for emergency services.
No one seemed to be seriously hurt or was taken to hospital.
The Honolulu Police Department confirmed an incident is currently under investigation.
They said in a statement to People magazine: “Shortly before 9 a.m. today, a female visitor staying in Waikiki reported being assaulted by a male acquaintance.
“The victim reported that she and the suspect had been involved in an argument several hours earlier, and the argument had escalated to a physical confrontation.
“The male left the area after the confrontation and has not been located.
“This incident has been classified as abuse of a household member. The investigation is continuing, and no further information is being released at this time.”
An insider claimed both Chyna – who has children King Cairo, six, and Dream, two, from past relationships – and Kid Buu were “intoxicated” at the time of the fight.
The source added: “It was more of a ‘he said, she said’ situation. They both had complaints to the police, but in the end no one was arrested or taken to the hospital.”
News of the row comes after it was revealed Chyna’s former partner, Rob Kardashian, was “mad” at his ex-fiancee because she left their daughter Dream with a nanny instead of in his care while she went away.
A source recently said: “Chyna planned on having Dream stay with a nanny in LA while she was in Hawaii.

Pete Davidson feels unhappy online

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Davidson has admitted the internet doesn’t make him “very happy”.
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ star – who recently deleted his Instagram account after sharing a worrying post in December that implied he felt suicidal – is trying to stay away from being online because he knows it doesn’t make him feel good.
He said: “Just don’t go online. It doesn’t make me very happy. Even if it’s not about me, it’s random s**t like, ‘Trump farts.’ I’m not a fan of it.”
Pete is currently in Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, where he is promoting his movie ‘Big Time Adolescence’ and he admitted it was nice to be in the state for a different reason as he was last there four years ago for a stint in the Cirque Lodge rehab facility.
He told Variety: “I love Park City, Utah, because the last time I was here, I was in rehab.
“It’s nice to be on the other side of it.”
Raising his bottle of beer, he added: “And, also – it speaks wonders to your rehab facilities.”
‘Big Time Adolescence’ was filmed in Syracuse, New York, last summer while Pete was on hiatus from ‘SNL’ but he didn’t have a great time as he felt he was constantly being “hunted down” by police – who arrested him for possession of marijuana at one point during the period – as they didn’t have anything else to do.
He said: “It sucked. The whole town of Syracuse blows. Let’s be honest, they just found out I was there and tried to arrest me the whole time.
“The cops, because there’s nothing going on there, they were hunting me down the whole time.
“They tried to arrest me for bringing business to your town. Never again, Syracuse.”
