Camilla Thurlow ‘most scared ever’ during Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Camilla Thurlow was the “most scared she’s ever been” during her ‘Love Island’ stint.
The bomb disposal expert appeared on the ITV2 reality show in 2017, where she met her boyfriend Jamie Jewitt, 28, and while she was out of her comfort zone on the programme, she “became a happier person” thanks to the series.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, Camilla said: “Going on ‘Love Island’ was the most scared I’ve ever been. It’s everything I’m not good at: Socialising, relationships, wearing a bikini.
“At that point in my life I’d been quite isolated for quite a time, so the whole reason I went on the show was to re-establish some kind of social life.
“I became a happier person on the island. I definitely didn’t go in expecting to find love. I think I just got lucky.”
The 29-year-old star has since landed her own ITVBe documentary, ‘What Camilla Did Next’, which focuses on her life since she left ‘Love Island’, as well as her previous charity work in Cambodia.
The show sees the former humanitarian worker head back to the south-east Asian nation, where she worked for mine clearance charity HALO Trust.
Camilla has been trying to make the most of her newfound celebrity status by raising awareness of the humanitarian cause.
She added: “I desperately wanted to be involved with mine clearance. I’ve always wanted to work outside. I want to be active and doing something constructive, something that would help and change things for someone else.
“Mine clearance is so unbelievably tangible: once it’s gone, it’s gone. It’s potentially a life or a limb saved, and you’ve made the difference.”

Ben Hughes reveals his cancer ‘hasn’t spread’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Hughes’ cancer “hasn’t spread”.
‘Love Island’ star Chris Hughes’ brother – who underwent a successful operation to have his testicle removed last week – has revealed the results from his CT scan showed his testicular cancer hasn’t spread to other parts of his body, and he has vowed to “keep fighting the horrible disease”.
He wrote on Instagram: “It’s been a very long couple of weeks!! But so MANY positives to be taken from it. My operation went really well and the surgeon was pleased with it! The CT and bloods came back showing that the cancer hasn’t spread.
“I’m just having a few weeks rest on the sofa being looked after by family and friends, watching a lot of day time tv!!! Thank you everyone for all your support and messages it is what has kept me going reading them all!! I will keep fighting this horrible disease!! (sic)”
Ben found out earlier this month he had testicular cancer after discovering a lump hours after Chris underwent a live TV testicular examination on ‘This Morning’.
He updated fans on his situation before going into theatre to have his testicle removed.
Ben shared a picture of himself in bed on Tuesday (22.01.19) and added the caption: “Big day tomorrow got to be at the hospital at 7:30!! That’s when the fight really starts! (sic)”
Just 10 minutes before his operation, he shared a black-and-white video of himself, in which he said: “The next time I speak to you guys will be when I have woken up.”
A week before the op, Ben revealed he was set to go under the knife to have his testicle removed.
He said at the time: “I’ve just got a nut-sized ball on my testicle. Quite large.
“I had a CT scan and I haven’t picked the results as of yet, and I will then find out if the cancer has spread into any other parts of my body. Fingers crossed it hasn’t spread.
“I’m booked in for my operation next Wednesday to remove the testicle, so I’m just wanting these CT scans to come back good and I can get this out.”
What’s more, Ben was recently told his sperm count was “very negative” after he underwent some tests ahead of freezing his sperm.
He explained: “I did my first sperm banking the day before yesterday and my doctor rang me that evening and said, ‘I think you should know, the tests we did on your sperm weren’t great. Your semen sample came back with a very negative sperm count, if any at all.’ ”

Judy Finnigan ‘nearly died’ after taking Ibuprofen

OHMYGOSSIP — Judy Finnigan “nearly died” after taking Ibuprofen.
The 70-year-old TV presenter – who has been married to Richard Madeley for 48 years – had a brush with death after taking the painkiller to aid an injured knee, but she claims it made her develop four large stomach ulcers and left her vomiting blood.
In her column for the Daily Express newspaper, she wrote: “Last autumn it happened to me and I nearly died.
“It was nothing to do with aspirin, which I don’t take. The culprit was good old over-the-counter Ibuprofen, the seemingly harmless stuff you take for a bad back, or (in my case) a painful knee.
“I gulped the jolly little bright blue capsules, looking like sweeties, daily for a mere four weeks.
“I survived thanks to an exceptionally swift-arriving and skilled ambulance crew, superb emergency treatment at London’s Royal Free Hospital, and two major life-saving blood transfusions.”
Judy spent four days in hospital recovering, and claims her “hugely experienced” consultant told her the painkiller was the cause.
She said: “My hugely experienced gastric consultant later told me that the smoking gun in my case was Ibuprofen.
“He said I’d developed four large stomach ulcers in as many weeks. He’d found one directly above a main artery, which had ruptured.”
This comes after Judy revealed last year that “sexism” in the media industry used to make her angry and it was the differing treatment between her and Richard that constantly ticked her off.
She explained: “The director would come through from the gallery and say, ‘ITN want to come to us in two minutes, so when I tell you, Richard, will you hand over to ITN.’ It was always Richard.
“I was furious because I was as much a journalist as him but they automatically thought the person to hand over to in a crisis was a man, so we had a few words.”

Gemma Chan’s SAG dress took 100 hours

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Chan’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards gown took over 100 hours to make.
The ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star walked the silver carpet on Sunday (27.01.19) in stunning pink asymmetric Oscar de la Renta gown with ruffled skirt, and the custom creation required 30 yards of silk taffeta, which was pleated by hand.
Her stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray said: “Fernando Garcia of Oscar de La Renta describes the dress as petal pleated plumes.
“100 hours of hand pleating 30 yards of silk taffeta went into creating this unique custom gown for Gemma.”
When it came to putting together a look for the actress, the stylist sought inspiration from Hollywood’s golden age and paired the dress with jewels from the Harry Winston archive.
She told the Hollywood Reporter: “We wanted something unique, playful and modern that would also stand the test of time.
“Vintage pieces [of jewellery] have such a nostalgic appeal and so many stories and secrets attached to them.
“The gown has an ethereal quality to it. In some ways, it looks like plumes and feathers and then it also has this fragile flower-like construction.
“The original gown idea was going to be black but we really loved the idea of pink. Pink is feminine and powerful.”
Make-up artist Monika Blunder also used the same inspiration for Gemma’s “classy” beauty look.
She said: “Gemma reminds me of a modern Audrey Hepburn. She is so timeless and classy and I wanted the make-up to reflect that.
“I wanted her skin to look velvety with a touch of pink that was soft and didn’t compete with the dress.”
The 36-year-old star’s hair stylist, Clariss Rubenstein, loves working with the actress and wanted to give her a simple but “cool” look.
She said: “I love chatting with Gemma, Rebecca, and Monika before we start the glam process.
“We share inspiration and thoughts on the look. We usually have a plan for the day and I always do a ‘rough draft’ with some hair pins so we can play around a bit before doing the final look. Things can always change the day of but I still like a little time to get a mental mood board going.
“Gemma is a joy to work with. She has great style and loves the glam process so the mood in the room is always great.
“I love the sweetness of this look. Especially when wearing a dress I love the contrast of hair that is easy and zero fuss. I feel this gives the look a bit of girly coolness. Nothing overdone. Gemma’s hair has naturally great texture, it kind of does what it’s told.”

Olivia Colman wrote to Wikipedia to have her age changed

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman once wrote to Wikipedia in order to have her age corrected on the online encyclopedia.
The acclaimed British actress’ age was listed as being eight years above her real-life age, and so she decided to write to the website, pretending to be someone else so as to avoid appearing “vain”.
She explained: “Once, on Wikipedia, they had my birthday as the wrong day, the wrong month, and eight years before I was born.
“I emailed them, pretending it wasn’t me. [I wrote] ‘I was at school with her and that’s not her birthday’. I didn’t want them to think I was being so vain.”
However, she was forced to reveal her identity when the website didn’t respond to her initial message.
Speaking on the ‘David Tennant Does a Podcast With…’ audio interview series, Olivia, 44, said: “I didn’t get a reply, and wrote again going ‘Sorry guys, but I know it’s wrong’. And they didn’t reply.
“So I said, ‘Actually, this is me, and it’s really upsetting me that you’ve made me eight years older than I actually am.'”
Olivia told David – her ‘Broadchurch’ co-star – she was asked for a birth certificate to prove her real age.
She remembers telling the online encyclopedia: “Whose f***ing birth certificate have you looked at in the first place to make me eight years older?'”
Olivia is currently the queen of awards season thanks to her royal role as 17th century British monarch Queen Anne in period comedy drama ‘The Favourite’.
However, Olivia has admitted that her increasing levels of fame have made her more reclusive because she gets recognised everywhere she goes.
She said: “I find it one-sided; everybody knows your face but you don’t know theirs. I find that a little intimidating.
“I tend to stay at home. I love my job very much and know that is an unfortunate side effect. And again some people deal with it better than me.
“It is annoying. I went over there [to America] for a holiday and it was heaven, because I went out to the park with the kids and nobody looked twice. And now that is annoying, isn’t it? I will have to find somewhere else to go.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Webbe has opened up on the tragic death of his brother to suicide two months ago.

Hugh Grant isn’t interested in appearing in Four Weddings series

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant isn’t interested in appearing in Mindy Kaling’s ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ comedy series.
The 1994 British comedy film of the same name is the inspiration for Mindy and co-writer Matt Warburton’s miniseries which is to air on TV streaming service Hulu. It is being produced by the film’s original writer Richard Curtis and will follow four American friends who reunite to attend a lavish London wedding with a bombshell revelation changing their lives forever.
Grant has met with some of the stars of the series, who include Nathalie Emmanuel, Nikesh Patel, Rebecca Rittenhouse and John Paul Reynolds, but he isn’t interested in making a cameo as his alter ego Charles.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: “Well, they haven’t asked me, I don’t know, maybe not.”
Although he isn’t interested in being part of Mindy’s project, Hugh is reprising his role as Charles for a special for TV charity telethon Comic Relief entitled ‘One Red Nose Day and a Wedding’.
The special will mark the 25th anniversary of the box office sensation and the cast will include Hugh as brooding leading man Charles, and Andie MacDowell, who played beautiful American heartbreaker Carrie.
Also returning to the cast of the classic romance is Kristin Scott Thomas, John Hannah, Rowan Atkinson, James Fleet, David Haig, Sophie Thompson, David Bower, Robin McCaffrey, Anna Chancellor, Rupert Vansittart, Simon Kunz, Sara Crowe and Timothy Walker.
The group of actors will be joined by unknown special guests, whilst original director Mike Newell returned to shoot the follow-up which will premiere on BBC One on Friday, March 15.
The new film will pick up 25 years after the first movie – which ended with Charles jilting his first love Henrietta at the altar to start a relationship and have a young son with Carrie.
Hugh, 58, won’t spill any other details as the production team would “shoot him” if he gave away details of the sequel.
He said: “I’ll tell you what, everyone who was asked from the original film said yes and turned up and we all look pretty ropy now, but we’re all good sports. We did it.”

Gabrielle might start wearing eye patch again

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabrielle might start wearing her eye patch again.
The 48-year-old singer – who is known for wearing a patch or having a large side fringe to cover her lazy eye – has revealed that although she only wore her iconic eye patch for one year, she may bring it back as “people associate” the accessory with her and it “gave [her] so much confidence”.
Speaking on ITV talk show ‘Loose Women’ on Monday (28.01.19), she said: “The eye patch, which I only ever used for a year, a lot of people find that hard to believe but it’s something that I may consider [bringing back].
“I won’t say when just because of the fact for all these years, for nearly a quarter of the century people have associated me with the eye patch.
“I think it would be quite a fun thing to do just because I’ve done it and it’s something people always associate with me and I’m very proud I’ve worn it, it gave me so much confidence so who knows. ”
The ‘Out Of Reach’ hitmaker went on to explain that her eye patch is a “comfort blanket” and although she wasn’t born wearing it, it helps her to embrace her appearance.
She said: “It’s really weird I’m so used to it, it’s a comfort blanket in the same way – I choose to cover my lazy eye because I don’t want it to be seen.
“The same way we weren’t born wearing bras but I choose to wear one it’s a choice. It’s my comfort blanket and it makes me happy.”
The ‘Dreams’ singer even drives with her eye covered and admitted that she struggles to drive unless one of her eyes is covered.
She said: “I drive like this; I feel almost like I can’t drive with two eyes anymore it’s really weird.”

Mickey Rooney’s estate to auction two of his Best Actor gongs

OHMYGOSSIP — Mickey Rooney’s Golden Globe and Emmy statuettes for Best Actor are set to be auctioned off this month.
The late actor – who passed away in 2014 at the age of 93 – won the two prestigious awards for his work as Bill Sackter in the acclaimed television film ‘Bill’ in 1981, and the statuettes he received are now set to go under the hammer by Nate D. Sanders Auctions on January 31.
Rooney starred as the titular character in the CBS film, which told the real life story of Bill, who spent nearly 60 years institutionalised for an intellectual disability until he was invited to live in a Minnesota home of a documentary filmmaker.
The movie helped to change the perspectives on people living with disabilities in America, and the awards being auctioned come directly from Rooney’s estate.
On the Golden Globe – which he was awarded in 1982 during the ceremony in the Beverly Hilton – a plaque mounted to the pedestal reads: ”Mickey Rooney / Best / Television Actor / In a Mini Series / Or Motion Picture / Made for Television / ‘Bill’ / 1981 / Hollywood Foreign Press Association / 8240.”
Whilst an engraved band on the Emmy, which he picked up in Pasadena, reads: “1981-1982 Primetime Emmy Awards / Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series / Or a Special / Mickey Rooney / Bill / December 22, 1981.”
Bidding for the Golden Globe starts at $6,000, whilst the Emmy is taking bids from $2,000 and up.
In his lifetime, Rooney won one Emmy, two Golden Globes – with the other being for Best TV Star for his role in sitcom ‘Mickey’ in 1964 – and an Academy Juvenile Award at the Oscars in 1938, which he was awarded for his “significant contribution in bringing to the screen the spirit and personification of youth, and as a juvenile player setting a high standard of ability and achievement.”

Henry Winkler: I thought I was ‘stupid’ before dyslexia diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Henry Winkler thought he was “stupid” before discovering he is dyslexic.
The 73-year-old actor – who rose to fame in his role as The Fonz on 70s show ‘Happy Days’ – only learned about dyslexia when he took his stepson to get evaluated when he was 31, and has said that before getting diagnosed, he had always assumed his struggle with reading and writing had been down to his intelligence.
He said: “I thought I was stupid … You take that mantle with you when it’s said often enough and when you’re young enough. There is an emotional component, I think, that comes along with learning challenges, where I had no sense of self.”
Since discovering his learning disability – which often causes problems with reading, writing and spelling – Henry has written 29 books with the help of Lin Oliver for his long-running children’s book series ‘Here’s Hank’, which are fictional stories about a child battling with the condition.
He added of the series: “It never dawned on me that I would have my name on a book. We set out to write comedies that happen to be about a kid who had a challenge, but they were funny first. If we didn’t make each other laugh, Lin and I, it wouldn’t go in the book.”
The books tackle different forms of dyslexia, and Henry says he wants to make sure children stop feeling “inadequate” or “embarrassed” by the disability.
Speaking to NPR, he said: “Some people, it works on their ability to read and do math, to actually write a sentence. Some people write backwards. When you’re reading, you miss words, they drop off the page or the words start swimming.
“What I have found over the years talking to kids today about it is that our journeys are similar. The feeling of inadequacy, of embarrassment, of, ‘Oh my gosh, am I going to have a future?'”
Henry’s final book, ‘Everybody Is Somebody’, is out on Tuesday (29.01.19).

Marie Osmond gushes over her eight kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Marie Osmond’s children are “the best things [she’s] ever done”.
The 59-year-old singer is mother to eight children – Stephen, 35, with husband Steve Craig, as well as Jessica, 31, Rachael, 29, Brandon, 22, Briana, 21, Matthew, 19, Abigail, 16, and Michael, who sadly took his own life in 2010 aged 19, with former spouse Brian Blosil – and says each of her brood are her proudest accomplishments.
Marie said: “They’re so sweet. How many 16-year-olds tell you they love you? “It’s hard when you have to work – I was the provider, so for my children to understand that and love me and care enough about me to say, ‘Mom, you’re going to die, we need you. Please lose the weight.’ … They went through a lot of tough stuff. They’re survivors.
“They are the best things I’ve ever done, ever.”
The ‘Paper Roses’ singer – who is the sister of The Osmonds singers Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, and Jimmy Osmond – now has four grandchildren, and is proud of how “hard working” her family is.
She added: “They’re all really hard workers and they are kind to each other and try really hard to be kind to people. Some of my kids are adopted and I can’t remember which ones, but some of them are more like me than my biological and I’m like, ‘I know why God sent you to me!'”
But with the rise of social media, Marie hopes her younger children and her grandchildren remember to have “real relationships” with people.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: “I hope that this generation knows how important it is to have real relationships with people, not just texting or how many likes you have.”

Kate Hudson clarifies ‘genderless’ parenting comments

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson claims she isn’t raising her daughter to be genderless.
The 39-year-old actress gave birth to her daughter Rani Rose – whom she has with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa – three months ago, and recently said she was taking a “genderless” approach to parenting.
But now, she’s clarified her comments after some people believed she meant she was going to raise her daughter to be genderless, rather than simply avoiding stereotypes in her parenting techniques.
Kate – who is also mother to sons Ryder, 14, and Bingham, seven, from previous relationships – wrote on Instagram: “Recently someone asked me something along the lines of, if having and raising a girl is different from boys. My response was simple. Not really. The whole click bait tactic of saying I’m raising my daughter to be ‘genderless’ is silly and frankly doesn’t even make sense.
“I raise and will continue to raise my children, both my boys and girl to feel free to be exactly who they want to be. To feel confident in their life choices and feel loved and supported no matter what. Me saying a ‘genderless approach’ was a way of refocusing the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype. It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be king. And that’s fine by me.”
In her original interview last week, Kate said she wouldn’t be raising her daughter any differently to how she raises her two sons.
Asked whether her approach to parenting has changed since having a daughter, she said: “It doesn’t really change my approach, but there’s definitely a difference.
“I think you just raise your kids individually, regardless – like, a genderless [approach].
“We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as.”

Bella Thorne had an audition cancelled when she came out as bisexual

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Thorne once had someone cancel her audition after she came out as bisexual in 2016.

The 21-year-old actress made her sexuality public in August 2016, and has now slammed the entertainment industry for being “negative about it”, claiming that after coming out, she had one of her scheduled auditions cancelled when producers decided they no longer wanted her for the role.
Speaking to the February issue of Gay Times magazine, she said: “There were a few places on the acting side that were very negative about it. There was someone who, right after I came out, cancelled my audition. It’s not like anybody comes up to you and says, ‘Well, you’re gay so I’m not going to hire you.’ I haven’t had that. But you can just tell by the way that people act differently around you, the way they treat you differently, the way that they look at you or the way that they tip toe around certain subjects because they’re walking on eggshells. In this business, that behaviour makes it all very obvious.”
The ‘Famous In Love’ star recently insisted “no one understands bisexuality”, because people often assume she’s either straight or gay.
She added: “It seems like no one understands bisexuality at all. In this world it’s like you’re either gay or you’re straight; there’s no in between. If you f***ed a guy once, you must be gay. Like, what? No. That’s just being fluid.”
Bella is currently dating musician Mod Sun, and previously admitted she’s become more positive since the pair met.
She said: “Meeting someone that’s just so happy, you know that’s kind of his whole thing, and for me [as] someone who’s a little bit glass half empty, it really is nice for me to have someone on my back that’s like, ‘No, it’s good, it’s good, it’s good,’ even when it’s bad.
“You’re always your harshest critic.
“[But now] when I see me going toward the negative I’m like ,’Bella, go toward the positive.”
