Wonder Woman 3 will be a contemporary story, says Patty Jenkins

OHMYGOSSIP — Patty Jenkins has confirmed that ‘Wonder Woman 3’ will be a contemporary story.
The 47-year-old director – who helmed 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman’ and the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ – has revealed that the third movie in the money-spinning franchise is unlikely to be set in the past.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m not set, but I’m not doing another period piece.”
Patty admitted that while no concrete plans for the movie have been finalised, she’s determined that it won’t be set in the past.
The filmmaker shared: “It’s definitely one of the things we talked about.
“I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go? You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down.”
Patty’s ‘Wonder Woman’ movie – which starred Gal Gadot and Chris Pine – was widely hailed by fans and critics.
But the acclaimed director has insisted she has no plans of helming a DC team movie in the near future.
She said: “The ‘Justice League’ movie, I find those movies to be extremely challenging. I think they are fantastic when they are well done.
“But taking on all of those characters at the same time in the timeline … I sort of hope that we don’t do a ‘Justice League’ movie for a little while because I’m excited to see all of their movies. I want to see ‘Aquaman 2’, I want to see ‘Flash’.”

Jon Chu says Crazy Rich Asians sequel will not be ‘the same old same old’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ director Jon Chu insists the sequels will not be “the same old same old”.
The romantic comedy-drama film – which starred the likes of Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, and Awkwafina – was one of the biggest box-office successes of 2018, and Jon has teased details of the eagerly-awaited sequels.
He told HollywoodLife.com: “The sequels will not be boring! They will not be the same old same old. They will push further.
“You will see more of the other characters. Because we didn’t use them as much as we would like to, and we are going to play to our advantage and have a really really great time.”
Awkwafina, 29 – who plays Goh Peik Lin in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ – has revealed she’d like to see her character have a love interest in the next movie.
She added: “The franchise will always have that heart. I think it will always show Asian-Americans and Asian people as they are.”
Meanwhile, Henry Golding previously revealed he doesn’t want to be labelled as the “Asian leading man”.
However, the in-demand actor said that if it helps to “inspire” others, he’s happy to take the title.
He explained: “I don’t want to be defined as the Asian leading man. I want to be the leading man. Henry Golding.
“If it means helping inspire other Asians to be leading men, hell yeah, I’ll take it. You don’t know how proud I am to have that associated with my name.
“Sadly, we’re so underrepresented that we have to start with these labels to be proud of it, to normalise it. So s**t, I’ll be the next Asian leading man.”

Emily Blunt thinks win shocked husband

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt thinks John Krasinski was “shocked” she won a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award.
The 35-year-old actress scooped the prize for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her role in ‘A Quiet Place’ and as she took to the stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday (27.01.19), her spouse – who directed and co-starred in the movie – was visibly emotional.
And Emily wasn’t surprised that the 39-year-old star was overcome because she hadn’t expected to win either.
Speaking to reporters backstage, she said: “He probably was as shocked as I was!
“It was very unexpected — an incredible category and certainly not something I planned for. I think he was just overjoyed.”
However, the actress admitted she’d missed John’s emotional reaction.
She added: “I’m also completely blind without my glasses so his face was a bit of a blur for me, but I’ll find out how he felt when I see him.”
In the movie, the couple – who have daughters Hazel, four, and Violet, two, together – play parents struggling to protect their children from monsters and Emily admitted they were warned they would end up “divorced” if they worked together of the project.
However, she was glad she ignored the warnings as working with her husband was her favourite part of making the movie.
She said: “We had never done it before, and it is kind of the great unknown, going into this process not knowing what this will be.
“A lot of people were like, ‘You’re going to be divorced by the end of it,’ and actually we were so much closer. I think the discovery of how well we collaborated, how well we created something together, was just so special.”

Holly Tandy ignores ‘negative’ trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Tandy is determined not to be put down by trolls during her ‘Eurovision’ journey.
The 17-year-old singer will compete against Anisa, Jordan Clarke, Kerrie-Anne, Maid and Michael Rice on TV show ‘Eurovision: You Decide’ for the chance to represent the UK at the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ in Tel Aviv this year, and insists she won’t let “negative” comments affect her.
She said at the BBC ‘Eurovision’ press event: “I don’t really pay attention to negative views or anything.
“My mum and dad are great, they give it me real and they have kept me grounded throughout my career so far so I am very lucky for that.
“It’s a huge show. It’s the biggest music contest in the world I am really proud to be part of it.
“And I’m so ready to get on that stage and perform my songs.”
The ‘Only for Tonight’ hitmaker is honoured to be part of ‘Eurovision’, because it uses music to bring people together.
She added: “‘Eurovision’ to me means unity through music and music is fantastic, there are all sorts of genres and we are really lucky to have music.”
The contestants will share three songs, ‘Bigger Than Us’, ‘Freaks’ and ‘Sweet Lies’.
The brunette – who will sing ‘Bigger Than Us’ – is glad audiences will get to see two versions of the same song and then decide their favourite.
She said: “It’s really interesting that both of us are doing the same song but it’s in a different style.
“I think that’s great for the audience to be able to digest that and see what really resonates with them.
“Because both might have a different meaning but come across the same on the night.
“It’s a really great opportunity for us to put our own stamp on the song.”
‘Eurovision: You Decide’ airs on February 8th, hosted by Eurovision 2015 winner Mans Zelmerlöw and TV presenter Mel Giedroyc.

Jason Bateman to direct John Cena in Netflix movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Bateman is set to direct John Cena in a new action-comedy movie for Netflix.
The 50-year-old actor will team up with Mark Perez, the writer of the 2018 crime movie ‘Game Night’, whilst John will play the lead role in the untitled project.
The film is said to be similar in feel to ‘Game Night’, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which reports that Jason will also star in the movie.
The plot for the Netflix project tells the story of a family that gets stuck in an old abandoned movie studio.
Meanwhile, John – who has made a successful transition from the world of professional wrestling into the movie business over recent years – previously revealed how the WWE influenced his move into Hollywood.
He shared: “Originally my film career was a direction from upper management in WWE – like, ‘Hey, go do movies.’ Originally what I wanted my film career to be was an extension of the WWE business model. I understood.
“WWE studios opened in 2003/2004, they began to film movies, and the model of the business was, ‘If we can make our stars bigger stars, they will come to see WWE’. Well, that’s what I wanted, but I didn’t want to go do movies.”
John also admitted that movie-making is quite different to his experiences with the WWE.
He added: “The process of making a movie is so different. It takes a long time, it takes a lot of people, and there’s nobody cheering you on.”

Megan Mullally’s diversity jokes

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Mullally praised Hollywood for getting things “right” during her opening monologue at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday (27.01.19).
The 60-year-old comic – who made her hosting debut at the ceremony – praised the diversity of the movies seen on screen over the last 12 months, but couldn’t resist mocking the subject.
She said: “In 2018, Hollywood did manage to get a few things right.
“They cast black people in ‘Black Panther’, so that was good. Asian people in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and a green book in ‘Green Book’. “You know there was some executive saying, ‘Could the book be white?’ ”
And she also joked about the “groundbreaking” roles for women, including eventual Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture winner Glenn Close – who starred in ‘The Wife’ – and her fellow nominee, ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ star Melissa McCarthy, as she celebrated the female-led movies of the year.
She quipped: “Roles for women continued to break new ground. Glenn Close played a wife so that’s new. Melissa McCarthy portrayed a woman who repeatedly apologises and asks our forgiveness. I was like, ‘What? This is groundbreaking.’ ”
Megan poked fun at ‘A Quiet Place’ actor-and-director John Krasinski, who cast his wife Emily Blunt alongside him in the horror, in a role which saw her win Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture later in the evening.
Megan said: “Emily Blunt played a nanny… and played a mom that wasn’t allowed to speak. I mean so great not have to learn any lines am I right? That was really really thoughtful of you John!”
The ‘Will and Grace’ star also joked ‘A Star Is Born’ actress Lady Gaga had been doing her eyeliner “for the last 15 years” and offered her “condolences” to ‘The Favourite’ actress Emma Stone for turning 30.
She quipped: “You had a great run. We’re looking forward to your reverse mortgage commercials.”

Tracy Morgan mocks accident

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracy Morgan poked fun at his near-fatal car accident at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday (27.01.19).
The 50-year-old comic was left severely injured and his friend James McNair was killed when their limousine bus was hit by a Walmart truck in 2014, and he joked that his ordeal had left him “set for life”.
Appearing on stage at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, where he presented Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series to the cast of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’, he said: “I gotta say, it’s an honour to be presenting this award tonight.
“It’s a very prestigious award and can be life-changing, and trust me when I say, as a former winner, if you win this award tonight, and get hit by a Walmart truck, and survive with all your arms and legs, you gonna be set for life. You can trust that.”
In 2017, the former ’30 Rock’ star admitted the accident had inspired him to continue his stand-up comedy career.
He said: “I got hit by a truck, it was a great story. So that’s what happened. I had a story to tell.
“When anything ever bad happened to me I made it funny and I turned it good. This was a bad thing that happened to me.
“I wanted to tell my story, but I also want to continue my stand-up career because all the great things that ever happened to me in my life came through stand-up.”
Tracy – who has three sons Gitrid, Malcolm, and Tracy, Jr from his first marriage and five-year-old daughter Maven with wife Megan Woolover – also claimed the accident taught him his purpose in life is to “spread love”.
He said: “It doesn’t cost nothing to be nice. I know my purpose in this world is to spread love. I love you and you can’t do nothing about it.”

Bradley Cooper took mom to SAG Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Cooper attended the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards with his mother.
The ‘A Star is Born’ actor-and-director walked the silver carpet at the Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles with his mom Gloria Campano on his arm because his girlfriend Irina Shayk was busy shooting a Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign in Moscow, Russia.
Sadly for Gloria – who has been her 44-year-old son’s date on a number of occasions in the past, including to the 2015 Tony Awards and the premiere of ‘Joy’ – she didn’t get to see Bradley triumph on Sunday (27.01.19) evening as he lost out to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture award and he and his castmates were beaten to Outstanding Performance By a Cast in a Motion Picture by ‘Black Panther’.
Bradley’s co-stars, Lady Gaga and Sam Elliott, also went home empty handed, having lost out on the Female Actor in a Leading Role and Male Actor in a Supporting Role categories to ‘The Wife’ star Glenn Close and ‘Green Book’s Mahershala Ali respectively.
Meanwhile, Bradley recently spoke of how he felt it had been “worth” spending so much time on ‘A Star is Born’ because the finished film was exactly what he’d wanted to make.
He said: “I spent about 15 years going from movie to movie to movie. And then I hit 39 and I stopped and I said, ‘What do I really want to do?’ I want to tell Joseph Merrick’s story in ‘The Elephant Man’. So I did that for a year.
“Then this story came to me, ‘A Star Is Born’, and then I spent the next four years doing that. And the one thing that I know in the future is: It’s worth all the time to dedicate, even if one piece of art comes out of it in a half a decade, that would still be incredible as long as I can feel like it’s the movie I wanted to make, which is this movie.”

Rami Malek got big break with pizza

OHMYGOSSIP — Rami Malek got his big break after sending out his head shot in a pizza box.
The 37-year-old actor took advantage of his job delivering takeaways in Los Angeles by including his photos and resume inside the packaging and one day, his persistence paid off and he landed a job within hours of handing over the hot food.
Speaking to reporters backstage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (27.01.19) evening, he said: “One day, I get a call from the casting director of ‘Gilmore Girls’. She said, ‘Can I speak to Rami Malek’s agent?’ I said, ‘Speaking.’ She said, ‘Is this Rami Malek?’ And I said, ‘Yes, it is.’
“She said, ‘Do you have an agent, honey?’ I said, ‘No, I don’t. We’ll work on it.’
“She was laughing throughout [the conversation]. It was three lines and a co-starring part on ‘Gilmore Girls.’ I said, ‘You’re laughing right now. It will take me 10 minutes to get to Warner Bros.’
“She said, ‘All right, kid. Come on in.’
“So, after years of delivering pizzas and stuffing my headshot into pizza boxes and to-go orders, someone finally called with a part. I went to her office and I got the job later that night.”
Earlier in the evening, Rami had touched on his pizza delivery tale in his acceptance speech for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture award, which he won for his portrayal of the late Freddie Mercury in Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
He said: “I have anecdotes about what it is to be an actor and delivering pizzas and stuff like that, but I’ll spare you it.
“I thank Queen and Freddie Mercury. I get some power from him that is about stepping up and living your best life; being exactly who you want to be and accomplishing everything you so desire.
“And I feel that, and he allows us all to feel that. So this is for him.”

James Argent compares Gemma Collins’ fall to Tyson Fury

OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent says Gemma Collins’ ‘Dancing On Ice’ fall was like watching Tyson Fury get up during a heavyweight boxing match.
The 31-year-old star – who has been dating his former co-star on and off since 2017 – was left shocked when his beau took a tumble on the ice on Sunday night (27.01.19), and her recovery reminded him of watching Fury, who got up off the canvas during a fight with Deontay Wilder following a 12th round knockdown.
While Gemma, 37, was left in tears after her ‘Dancing On Ice’ routine on Sunday night after she face-planted onto the rink, James says she was “absolutely amazing”.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, he said: “I am so proud of Gemma, she was absolutely amazing.
“Everyone in the audience can tell how hard she worked this week and you know, when she fell face first – face plant – everyone was petrified, we thought she’d even done her teeth in or she’d broke her jaw but the way she got back up was absolutely amazing.
“It reminded me of when Tyson Fury got back up in his heavyweight fights. She got back up as if nothing had happened, she carried on and she finished the routine.”
Gemma is partnered with skating professional Matt Evers, and the duo were saved in the public vote, which eventually saw Didi Conn sent home after a skate-off.
Matt has confessed Gemma “raised the bar” during her “beautiful” routine, despite her fall.
He said: “I’m just gutted for her because she has worked do hard this week and then to go out there and give that performance, it was absolutely beautiful and technically she has raised the bar. Then at the very last minute she tripped, but she stood up, she carried on, she had a smile on her face.
“She’s devastated though because she really wanted to put everything in this performance and show everyone at home that she worked really hard.”

Freida Pinto will never work with Woody Allen again

OHMYGOSSIP — Freida Pinto has vowed to never work with Woody Allen again.
The 83-year-old director has long been accused of sexually abusing his ex-partner Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter Dylan Farrow in 1992 when she was just seven years old, and the allegations have resurfaced in the wake of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements.
Woody has always strongly refuted the allegations and has accused his ex Mia of inventing the story to hurt his reputation.
At the end of 2018, model Babi Christina Engelhardt claimed she’d had an eight-year affair with Woody which began back in October 1976 when he was 41 and she was just 16.
Frieda, 34, played the character Dia in Allen’s 2010 drama comedy ‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger’, however, she would not work with him again as she wants to show solidarity with those who have spoken out against the filmmaker and stated she’s sticking to what her “gut instinct” tells her.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, she said: “No absolutely not. I wouldn’t work with him because I’m in solidarity with women who have come out with their stories, whether they are proven or not. I’m just going to stick to what my gut instinct tells me.”
The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star also spoke about her career and insists she is no longer “desperate” for roles now she has established herself in the movie business.
She said: “I’m 34 years old; I’ve worked for 11 years in this industry. I’m not desperate and I will never be desperate.”
The Indian actress – who often plays the love interest of the main character in her films – has confessed that although she holds strong feminist values, she has previously taken roles that today would oppose her principles.
When asked whether she saw a contradiction between her feminism and some of her previous roles, she said: “Completely! There was no way I agreed with so much I did in my early career!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Brosnahan has been secretly married to Jason Ralph for “years”.
The 28-year-old actress – who stars as Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel in the acclaimed TV series ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ – has admitted that she and her actor husband have been married for much longer than most people realise.
Speaking to People, she confessed: “We’ve been married for years and been together for even longer.
“We had a good laugh when the news came out that we had just got married, like ‘Happy six-month anniversary, honey!'”
Despite being a high-profile couple, news of Rachel and Jason’s marriage only emerged in 2018.
But, at the time, it wasn’t known that they’d already been a married for a number of years.
Rachel made the confession during her red carpet appearance at Sunday night’s (27.01.19) Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, where she won the gong for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

During her acceptance speech, she said: “I have wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember and to be able to count you all in this room as my peers let alone to stand up on this stage is beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you so much.
“I have a habit of getting very flustered up here and forgetting to thank a lot of vitally important people to my team.”
After thanking her publicists, lawyers, and co-stars, Rachel also hailed the “unsung background actors who work the same hours as us and share the same union as us. I couldn’t be luckier to be a part of this amazing group of artists.”

Duke and Duchess of Sussex to spend Valentine’s Day apart

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to spend Valentine’s Day (14.02.19) apart.
The British royals – who married in May at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle – are preparing for their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, but it appears they will spend the annual day of romance in separate countries.
Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry will be visiting Exercise Clockwork – which has trained more than 16,000 Royal Marines and Royal Navy sailors and airmen since 1969 – in Norway on February 14.
A tweet from the palace read: “The Duke of Sussex, Captain General @RoyalMarines, will visit Exercise Clockwork to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the operation in Bardufoss, Norway on Thursday 14th February. (sic)”
On the other hand, the Duchess – who was known as Meghan Markle prior to marrying the Prince – is set to remain at home, where she’s preparing for the arrival of their first child.
Meanwhile, prior to their wedding, Duchess Meghan admitted she loves “a great love story”, and that the couple were eager to make the most of the first few months of their romance.
The former ‘Suits’ star also acknowledged that over time, they would have to share more of themselves and their relationship with the public.
The Duchess confessed: “We’re a couple. We’re in love.
“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.
“It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”

Liam Gallagher gets new cat Nancy

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has got a new cat called Nancy – a feline friend for his moggy Sid.
The 46-year-old rock star adopted Sid last November from Wood Green, The Animals Charity, in London and now he has opened his home up to another kitten to keep Sid company.
The two cats’ names are a reference to late Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, who was found dead in the bathroom of her home from a single stab wound at the age of 20.
Sid was arrested and charged with her murder but died of a heroin overdose while on bail in February 1979 at the age of 21.
Unveiling a photo of his white and black pussy on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, Liam – who lives with his girlfriend and manager Debbie Gwyther – wrote: “Say Hello to Nancy. LG x (sic)”
Before being adopted by former Oasis frontman Liam, Sid had already been rescued with her moggy mum and siblings by an elderly lady who nursed the mum back to health and brought all the animals into the animal centre.
After the ‘Greedy Soul’ singer took Sid home the official Twitter account for Wood Green, The Animals Charity, made a post having some fun with Liam and his Oasis past.
The tweet read: “Lucky Sid has gone off to ‘Live forever’ with none other than @liamgallagher!! Most cats love an early ‘Sunday Morning Call’ we wonder if Sid will tomorrow? Remember to #AskWoodGreen any pet question you may have, wishing you all a ‘Wonderwall’ weekend! (sic)”

Kym Marsh’s cancer scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh had a cancer scare just months after the death of her son.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – whose baby boy Archie died within moments of being born in February 2009 – was diagnosed with pre-cancerous cells after undergoing a smear test in the same year, but fortunately she was able to have the cells removed.
She said: “Last week was Cervical Cancer Prevention Week and it coincided with my annual smear test.
“I have one every year as I was diagnosed with pre-cancerous cells 10 years ago.
“It was back in 2009 and it was the year I lost Archie – Archie died in the February and then Jade Goody passed away from cervical cancer in the March.
“A few months later, I had my first smear test after losing my son and that’s when I was diagnosed.
“It was horrific but I went and had the cells removed.”
As a result of her own scare, Kym has encouraged women to get themselves checked out because she “might not be here now” if she hadn’t done so.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: “A new survey suggested that young women put off having them done due to being embarrassed, but smear tests save lives.
“I might not be here now if I didn’t go for one at the time that I did.
“So if you’re due one soon please do get it booked.”
Kym’s message comes after her ‘Corrie’ co-star Nicola Thorp recently revealed she previously underwent treatment for the “really early stages” of cervical cancer.
She said: “I’ve had treatment for really early stages of cervical cancer. That is something that really is completely preventable now because of research in that area.
“When I found out about it I was emotional because I was very confused. There wasn’t a lot of information out there a while ago now, this was nearly 10 years ago.
“We have so many fantastic services that are available and they’re only available because of charities like Cancer Research UK.”

Alison Brie’s dress difficulties

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Brie needed four people to dress her for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
The ‘GLOW’ actress turned heads in a stunning Miu Miu gown which was adorned with an oversize wing-like bow cascading down her back and she admitted the eye-catching frock took some difficulty to get into.
Speaking on the silver carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday (27.01.19), she told People magazine: “I have to show off this bow! It was a four person process, yes, to get into this beautiful Miu Miu dress.
The bow sort of detaches and reattaches.”
And the 36-year-old actress – who is married to Dave Franco – confessed she was worried about getting out of the gown at the end of the evening.
She added: “I believe I am partially sewn in so tonight will be very interesting. I have glimpses of me in a few hours with my husband just being like ‘Get it off me! Get me out of it!’ But for now I’m loving it.”
Alison lost out to ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ for the Female Actor in a Comedy Series award, and the show lost to the same comedy series in the ensemble category.
However, the brunette beauty was unlikely to be too disappointed as she found it very “special” to have been shortlisted anyway.
She said: “[It is so] special to be nominated as an ensemble and have our whole group here. The show would be nothing without this incredible cast and every woman on the show brings something totally unique and special.
“We have a blast. It is constant laughing and joking. It is a constant slumber party!”
