New evidence suggests Richey Edwards staged own disappearance

OHMYGOSSIP — New claims have emerged that claim Manic Street Preachers musician Richey Edwards staged his own disappearance.
The guitarist-and-songwriter disappeared from the Embassy Hotel in London in February 1995 at the age of 27 and after an extensive search by the authorities, his family and his bandmates, James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore, he was declared “presumed dead” in 2008.
However, a new book by Sara Hawys Roberts and Leon Noakes, with the full co-operation of Richey’s sister Rachel Elias who granted unprecedented access to his personal archives, suggests the Welsh rocker may have faked his own death.
The tome ‘Withdrawn Traces: Searching for the Truth about Richey Manic’ reveals a story written by the ‘Little Baby Nothing’ hitmaker for his school homework in 1980, where he plots disappearing from the same bridge, Severn Bridge, he is believed to have fallen from and the work details the musician’s interest at his great aunt, who lived inside her childhood home alone for 80 years, and his great uncle, went off-grid in the 1960s.
Speaking in the book about Richey’s obsession with the perfect disappearance, Sara told The Sun newspaper: “Knowing how intelligent he was, if anybody was going to stage a disappearance he would certainly be the person who would have been more than capable.
“As the band themselves have said, Richard was very adept at dramatic symbolism.
“He used to think a lot about the books he would read, the things he would say, what he’d give out in interviews.
“With all the books and all the different things he’d left and all the things he had spoken about before going missing, there were symbolic things in there that would lead you to think, ‘Oh, yeah, he did plan his disappearance.’ ”
The book also suggests that the ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ singer may have had undiagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome which stemmed his desire to shut out the world as a coping mechanism, and unveils unknown sightings of the rocker and details a mystery woman called Vivian – who was the last person to see Richey before his disappearance.

Idina Menzel praises Vanessa Hudgens for Rent: Live! performance

OHMYGOSSIP — Idina Menzel is “so proud” of Vanessa Hudgens for her performance in ‘Rent: Live!’
The ‘Frozen’ star paid tribute to Vanessa, who took on the role of Maureen Johnson – played by Idina in the original Broadway version – for her portrayal and particularly loved her rendition of ‘Take Me or Leave Me’.
Alongside a red heart emoji, she wrote: “Just watched @VanessaHudgens absolutely kill it during take me or leave me. So proud of you Vanessa! (sic)”
And the 47-year-old actress and singer joined Vanessa and the cast of the FOX version onstage at the end to sing its iconic track, ‘Seasons of Love’. Original cast members Anthony Rapp, Daphne Rubin Vega, Fredi Walker, Adam Pascal, Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Jesse L. Martin also came on stage to sing.
The team at FOX suffered a slight hitch just before the show started as lead man Brennin Hunt – who plays Roger – suffered a broken ankle. However, they were able to make it work by playing some pre-recorded segments.
‘Rent: Live’ director Alex Rudzinski said: “What we do have is a backup recording from the night [before]. The night before we do a full dress rehearsal on camera to tape, so should the metaphorical meteor hit the studio, we can switch to that backup recording, and it’s with an audience, and so there is a degree of backup there. Actually, I think on Grease we lost sound for eight seconds and we switched. I think we had to switch to the backup for eight seconds, and no one noticed.”
Whilst FOX said in a statement: “Last night during a live performance of Fox’s production of Rent, one of the actors, Brennin Hunt, was injured. But in the spirit of Rent, everyone – producers and cast, original and current – is dedicated to ensuring that tonight’s broadcast must, and will, go on.”

Olivia Colman: I’m not thick-skinned

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman avoids social media because she isn’t “thick-skinned”.
The ‘Favourite’ star admits there have been times where she read a particularly mean comment online and it made her “cry and go into a depression”.
Speaking on David Tennant’s David Tennant Does A Podcast  With, she said: “I’m not on social media because I don’t think I’m very thick-skinned. On occasion I’ve read something that I shouldn’t have and I’ll stay awake – I’ll cry and I’ll go into a depression. I don’t know if they think you have no feeling, no nerve endings or you’re not real. I’m fortunate that it doesn’t happen often. But I don’t know how people cope.”
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old actress previously confessed she finds it “intimidating” leaving the house now she is recognised everywhere she goes.
She said: “I don’t really go out anymore. I find it one-sided; everybody knows your face but you don’t know theirs. I find that a little intimidating. I tend to stay at home. I love my job very much and know that is an unfortunate side effect. And again some people deal with it better than me.
“It is annoying. I went over there [to America] for a holiday and it was heaven, because I went out to the park with the kids and nobody looked twice. And now that is annoying isn’t it? I will have to find somewhere else to go.”
And Olivia dreads being judged by critics.
Asked whether she finds the scrutiny hard to deal with, she explained: “I love doing the work so much, it’s almost a shame that people have to see it.”

Mahershala Ali’s conscious movie choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Mahershala Ali chooses roles which “align” with his “consciousness”.
The ‘Moonlight’ star has revealed how he picks movies, which are a “natural outgrowth of how he tries to live his life”.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “I think my choices are just a natural outgrowth of how I try to live my life. I try to be conscious of my diet holistically, whether it’s the actual food you put in the body or what it is that you’re watching. So when I read projects of when I find myself drawn to something it’s really pretty much in alignment with a larger consciousness that I try to live with.”
Meanwhile, Mahershala previously revealed he believes his Islamic faith has made him a better actor as it helps him relate to his characters better.
He explained: “It benefits me from the standpoint of really creating empathy for these characters that I try to embody, other human beings with issues as deep and personal as my own. Because of Islam, I am acutely aware that I am a work in progress. [The daily practice] puts a healthy pressure on you to be your best self, beginning with your own spirit and how that feeds into your actions.”
And the ‘Green Book’ star also admitted he has always tried to make himself appear “smaller” in order to put other people at ease in his presence.
He said: “I think I identify with characters who have to make themselves smaller. Because that’s been my experience, as a large black man, to make people feel safer. Just because I always found witnessing other people’s discomfort made me uncomfortable. And at the end of the day, it’s a lot of BS too. Sometimes you gotta be like, ‘Eff that.'”

Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan subjected to online trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — Kensington Palace are spending hours monitoring negative comments made against Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan online.
A team at the royal household have been scrolling through social media – including on old material – to check out and investigate racist and sexist comments made against the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex.
A source said: “A lot of hours are being spent reviewing old material and moderating comments under posts. The Palace has always monitored comments but it’s a hugely time consuming thing. They can block certain words, but some of it is quite serious. Over the course of last year, with hundreds of thousands of comments, there were two or three that were violent threats. You can delete and report and block people and the police have options around particular people. It’s something you have to manage because there’s no other way to control it … It follows a Kate vs Meghan narrative and some of the worst stuff is between Kate fans and Meghan fans. Arguments about who looks more appropriate, for example, that turn into personal attacks on other users. It’s creating a supercharged atmosphere and everyone can join in, but what are the consequences of this?”
The backlash against the royals has led HELLO! magazine to launch their #HelloToKindness campaign, which champions online positivity.
HELLO’s Head of Digital Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon added: “Issues of low self esteem are rife among young people these days and we feel, as a responsible publication with high values, we need to lead the way. It’s a big concern for our readers too; in a recent survey we discovered how important these issues are to the people we write for, which is exactly why they read our publications.
“Being healthy in mind as much as in body is important to our audience. They are acutely aware of mental health and self esteem issues experienced by themselves, friends and family and also celebrities. They are realistic that celebrities and royals are not immune from life’s ups and downs and they admire those who have spoken out about mental health and image issues.”

The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ actor admitted it felt “extraordinary” to have scooped the honour ahead of his fellow nominees, Christian Bale (‘Vice’), Bradley Cooper (‘A Star is Born’), Viggo Mortensen (‘Green Book’) and John David Washington (‘BlacKkKlansman’).
Accepting the accolade on stage at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, he said: “Wow – this just seems extraordinary to me when I look at the actors I’m nominated with, truly.
“I never in my wildest dreams thought I could be in a category with these men and I’m so proud to be one of your peers and to celebrate my peers tonight and be celebrated by them.
“It’s an honour and I’m taken aback by it.”
Rami went on to thank the producers and the rest of the cast on the movie, before once again dedicating his win to late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, who he portrays in the biopic.
He said: “I have to thank SAG-AFTRA and wouldn’t be here without having that, my producers Graham King and Dennis O’Sullivan, Fox, New Regency and this ensemble that is so extraordinary to me, that carried me through every moment on this film, thank you.
“I have anecdotes about what it is to be an actor and delivering pizzas and stuff like that, but I’ll spare you it.
“I thank Queen and Freddie Mercury. I get some power from him that is about stepping up and living your best life; being exactly who you want to be and accomplishing everything you so desire.
“And I feel that, and he allows us all to feel that. So this is for him.”

The ‘This Is Us’ actor admitted he would “go crazy” for the chance to land a cameo role in the comedy series, after its lead actress, Rachel Brosnahan admitted she would “do anything” to get him to agree to be on the show.
The pair came face-to-face on the silver carpet at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday (27.01.19), just days after the 28-year-old actress admitted the 42-year-old star is top of her wish list for a guest appearance.

Sterling – who was accompanied by his wife Ryan Michelle Bathe – smiled and said: “I would go crazy. I’m in, I’m in. Deal.”
The pair shook hands on their agreement then gushed about their mutual appreciation for one another.
Rachel told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Sterling is incredible, and can clearly do no wrong. Every time I see Sterling in something else … I would follow Sterling to the end of the Earth.”

The couple knew it was love when they first came face to face and when Michael found out his now-wife loved to golf, he “melted” right there on the spot.
He said: “We have the same birthday, few years apart. The first time I ever met her I found out we had the same birthday and I told her, ‘I’m going to be the father of your children.'”
Whilst she added: “He did. And then he found out that I played golf. I think that was it.”

And Catherine praised Michael for being “the kindest man she has ever met in her life”.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “He is the kindest man I have ever met in my life. His sense of humour, he is actually quite funny in his show. But he is my best friend. So proud to be with him tonight.”
Meanwhile, Michael previously admitted his love for his wife Catherine “only continues to grow”.
He shared: “We celebrated our 18th anniversary recently, and besides the genuine love that only continues to grow, I think the fact that we’re in the same industry really helps us to understand what is going on. Liam Hemsworth embarrassed by acting awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Hemsworth gets “embarrassed” about receiving acting awards.
The ‘Last Song’ star admits he finds it difficult to take honours for his acting roles as he “already feels so privileged” to do something that he loves.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight after receiving an honour at the 16th Annual G’Day USA Gala in Culver City, California, over the weekend, he said: “I was just saying, I get embarrassed I get awards for acting because I already feel so privileged to do something that I love so much. It’s such a great position to be in but I’m very thankful and grateful to receive this award. It’s really cool.”
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old actor previously admitted the loss of anonymity that has come with fame has been difficult but being able to look after his loved ones financially is a bonus.
He said: “Initially the hardest part to adjust to is just the way people approach you now and react to you. You lose a lot of your anonymity. And I think that’s obviously something, if you are going to be successful in this business, that you are going to have to deal with one day. I still consider my life normal – it is normal to me. I guess, to some people weird stuff happens in my life that would be considered not normal. But so many great things have happened since ‘The Hunger Games’ and it has allowed me to be a lot more financially secure and help out people that I care about.”
And Liam credits his parents as his heroes.
Asked who his own legends are, he shared: “Mum and dad. They’re my legends. Two legends. And my brothers, Luke and Chris. I have a legendary family. We have a really close bond. I think that our whole family…that we have such great parents who brought us up with such good values. I have always looked up to my older brothers. Yeah, we are really close friends.”

“I am very, very happy at the moment, but I don’t want to be married. No, no, no. I think the focus should be on the relationship.
“I’ve never wanted it. I’ve never fantasised about the big day. It was never my ambition to be married.”

Megan Barton Hanson’s friends want her back on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton Hanson’s pals reckon she should re-apply for ‘Love Island’ now she is single again.
The 24-year-old star confirmed on Saturday (26.01.18) that she and her boyfriend, Wes Nelson – whom she met on the ITV2 reality show last summer – have ended their relationship, and now Megan’s friends have urged her to return to the villa to “meet new blokes” and not “dwell on the past”.
One of Megan’s pals told the Daily Star newspaper: “Megan will be raring to go and meet new blokes now it’s finished with Wes.
“She is understandably upset it hasn’t worked out but she isn’t one to dwell on the past. We reckon it’s the ideal tonic to get over Wes. She should apply now.”
Megan, 24, previously hit out at “fools” who have slammed her following her break-up, with some trolls claiming ‘Dancing on Ice’ star Wes could “do so much better”.
One user responded to her break-up announcement and wrote: “Lollll he can do so much better than a rude jealous insecure plastic slapped like you… go Wes and Vanessa!!!! (sic)”
Megan took a screenshot of the response, and replied on her Instagram Story with the caption: “Wow i can’t catch a break this week! Hospitalised, Burgled, Public breakup and now these fools (sic)”
The couple’s split came after the blonde beauty had previously lashed out at his ‘Dancing on Ice’ partner Vanessa Bauer, claiming the professional ice skater was trying to come between the couple when she broke up with her own boyfriend on the same day she was due to take to the ice with Wes.
Days after her outburst, Megan was forced to miss Wes’ live performance on the ITV ice dancing competition after she was hospitalised with a kidney infection.
In her break-up statement, Megan wrote: “I am so grateful and so blessed to have found Wes, I will always love and adore him and I am so lucky to call him my best friend. It has been an incredibly hard decision to make for both of us but we are looking forward to moving on together as friends and supporting each other in everything we do.
“I will be down at Dancing On Ice tomorrow to watch him smash it again. Only one thing left to say, come on Wes and Vanessa! (sic)”

Beverley Callard: Liz’s clothes added to woes

OHMYGOSSIP — Beverley Callard says playing ‘Coronation Street’s Liz McDonald added to her “low self-esteem”.
The 61-year-old actress has spoken openly about suffering from clinical depression in the past, and the cobbles star admits her alter-ego’s “unforgiving” wardrobe used to make her feel “more self-conscious”.
She said: “I lacked confidence very much and I had very low self-esteem and the clothes I had to wear for Liz were very unforgiving.
“It was silly things like that which would make me feel more self-conscious and I think that could be a part of it but, of course, it is not the cause.”
Bev admits being a “people pleaser” has also contributed to her depression, but insists starring in ‘Corrie’ was “a great help” to her mental health.
She added to BBC Radio Manchester: “I had very severe clinical depression and I put myself under pressure.
“I am a worrier. I tend to be a people pleaser because I’m insecure. I think those factors contribute. Once you’re on the road to recovery, the job can be a great help.”
Last year, Bev admitted she thought Liz’s clothes were getting “worse”, and joked she should be paid “a fortune” to wear some of the garish outfits her alter-ego dons on the soap.
In response to a fan who tweeted to ask how much extra ‘Corrie’ bosses had paid Bev to wear a pink blouse on last night’s (21.06.18) episode, she replied: “Yep, you’re right Liz’s clothes just get worse!!! X
“Lol. I should be earning a fortune! X (sic)”
In 2017, Bev said she never expected to suffer from depression because she is a “strong” and “feisty” woman.
She said: “I’m a workaholic and have to try to relax, which I don’t find easy.
“Overcoming clinical depression is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I never thought it would happen to me. I’m a strong female, very feisty. But I think depression has a tendency to affect strong people, as we keep going no matter what.”

Wonder Woman 3 will be a contemporary story, says Patty Jenkins

OHMYGOSSIP — Patty Jenkins has confirmed that ‘Wonder Woman 3’ will be a contemporary story.
The 47-year-old director – who helmed 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman’ and the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ – has revealed that the third movie in the money-spinning franchise is unlikely to be set in the past.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m not set, but I’m not doing another period piece.”
Patty admitted that while no concrete plans for the movie have been finalised, she’s determined that it won’t be set in the past.
The filmmaker shared: “It’s definitely one of the things we talked about.
“I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go? You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down.”
Patty’s ‘Wonder Woman’ movie – which starred Gal Gadot and Chris Pine – was widely hailed by fans and critics.
But the acclaimed director has insisted she has no plans of helming a DC team movie in the near future.
She said: “The ‘Justice League’ movie, I find those movies to be extremely challenging. I think they are fantastic when they are well done.
“But taking on all of those characters at the same time in the timeline … I sort of hope that we don’t do a ‘Justice League’ movie for a little while because I’m excited to see all of their movies. I want to see ‘Aquaman 2’, I want to see ‘Flash’.”
