David Bowie was ‘vulnerable and scared’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie was “vulnerable and scared” of abandonment.
The late ‘Space Oddity’ star’s life will be the subject of a new BBC documentary ‘Finding Fame’, and his cousin Kristina Amadeus has opened up on the musician’s mental health during the film.
She said: “I think he was vulnerable and scared of being abandoned.
“But one of the porkies that David perpetuated for a very long time was that he came from a family where insanity seemed to be the norm, and it just wasn’t true.
“Yes, [his brother] Terry had his breakdown, but I believe it was a bad acid trip.”
The documentary – which is set to air on BBC Two on February 9 – was directed by Francis Whately, who was also the mind behind previous Bowie films ‘Five Years’ and ‘The Last Five Years’.
This third project reveals a period of the iconic singer’s life when he was a struggling and heartbroken musician.
Former flame Hermione Farthingale – who left him in 1969 and sparked the songs ‘Letter To Hermione’ and ‘Let Me Sleep Beside You’ – was also interviewed for the documentary.
She said: “We were soul mates, it wasn’t a one-sided relationship at any stage. We did fall in love, it took maybe five minutes maximum.”
While Bowie – who sadly lost a secret battle with cancer in January 2016 – was working in a photocopying shop with Hermione when they dated, he made sure not to settle as he worked towards superstardom.
Filmmaker Francis added: “This film should be shown in every secondary school. Keep on trying until you find your way.
“David Bowie was absolutely dogged and persistent in his faith in himself and also his work ethic. I think it’s a huge lesson to every young person to try and try again. It’s another great lesson from David Bowie.”

Busted think new album Half Way There defines their sound

OHMYGOSSIP — Busted’s new album is the record they always wanted to make.
The ‘What I Go To School For’ trio – made up of Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne – released their fourth LP ‘Half Way There’ on Friday (01.02.19) and they have described it as a true return to form after getting more experimental on their 2016 effort ‘Night Driver’ which came almost 11 years after they first split up.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Charlie said: “We had a great time, there’s a lot of fond memories. But I think doing it again now, I feel like we’re having a much better time because we’re completely in control with what we’re doing.
“To be honest, this album has been a bit of a moment for us. We sort of made the album that never was, I feel like this is the seminal Busted album.”
While the band all agreed the new LP embodies their style so much it such have been self titled – just like their 2002 debut – Matt revealed the thinking behind its name.
He explained: “It’s a ‘Year 3000’ reference. We talk about the seventh album, and halfway through this you’re half way to the seventh album. And we’re kind of at that point in our lives as well, we’re mid 30s, we feel like we’re half way there.”
The trio – who also released ‘A Present For Everyone’ in 2003 – are all on the “same creative page” after doing various projects over the years, with Matt and James forming McBusted with their McFly pals and Charlie recording with his post-hardcore band Fightstar as well as working on solo material.
Now, they are looking forward to the future and Matt admitted he would love it if the new collection was their first to top the UK charts.
Speaking two days before the official ranking will be revealed, he laughed:”I really want a number one album. Busted have’t had a number one album, we had two number twos. Today, we’re number one.”

The 85-year-old designer – who is the creative director of French luxury fashion house Chanel, Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi as well as his own brand – has asked his long-time friend to become his new design partner.
To launch the partnership, the pair is set to reveal a collection of essential pieces in September called ‘The Edit by Carine Roitfeld’ which will include pieces from designer’s autumn/winter 2019 line.
In a statement, Karl said: “[Roitfeld] knows what she wants; she has a vision and she states her vision. She is actually what she seems to be; she matches her image, she fits in her universe, and she is a perfect match for KL.”
Carine added: “[Lagerfeld] is one of the smartest, most inventive and innovative people I have ever known, after all these years, Karl never calls me Carine – always Madame Roitfeld.”
This news comes after the iconic designer was too “tired” to take his bow at the end of Chanel’s haute couture shows earlier this month.
Karl missed both his fashion house’s presentations in Paris with the studio’s director Virginie Viard – a long-time friend and collaborator of the creative director – representing him on stage instead.
In a statement, Chanel said: “For the traditional greeting at the end of the show, Mr. Lagerfeld, artistic director of Chanel, who was feeling tired, asked Virginie Viard, director of the creative studio of the house, to represent him and greet the guests alongside the bride. Virginie Viard as creative studio director and Eric Pfrunder as Chanel’s director of image continue to work with him and follow through with the brand’s collections and image campaigns.”

The Channel 4 soap will release a 15-minute programme entitled ‘Hollyoaks – See The Person’ – which will be first aired on E4 at 7pm on Monday (04.02.19) – to celebrate the importance of diversity on television.

She said: “This week on ‘Hollyoaks’, we have a special disability awareness episode, which follows Mandy, as she takes a journey around the village.
“She has to make some serious decisions about her unborn baby and she bumps into a few of the characters from the show who have disabilities or additional needs.
“It helps her come to a decision about her own baby. There is a big charity concert with loads of children involved – it’s lovely and a very emotional episode.
“It’s a really eye-opening episode, and it was a real privilege to be a part of. The celebration of diversity is super important, and our show is great at raising awareness. You don’t realise how many diverse characters the show has, and I think that’s a credit to itself. There is a real sense of community in ‘Hollyoaks’.”
The documentary will feature interviews with cast members, their parents, and crew members, who have disabilities and additional needs.
Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood added: “At ‘Hollyoaks’ we really like to celebrate diversity.
“I grew up in a house that wasn’t very well represented on TV at the time and I really like the idea that there are generations of people, from all walks of life, who can grow up watching themselves be represented on ‘Hollyoaks’.”

Peter Ash blasts homophobic ‘idiots’ for backlash over Corrie kiss

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Ash has slammed homophobic “idiots” for criticisms over his ‘Coronation Street’ kiss.
The 33-year-old actor – who plays Paul Forman on the soap – and co-star Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Bayhew) received abuse on social media after their characters locked lips on the cobbles, and now he has fired back.
He told The Sun Online’s Soap Bubble: “I know how it works online, I was expecting more to be honest, you know what it’s like with those [homophobic Twitter trolls] idiots online.
“It’s sad but unfortunately that’s just part of it these days, you’ve just got to expect it.”
Daniel questioned one angry viewer who insisted the scenes shouldn’t have aired at a time when children could been watching.
After he asked the Twitter user to justify his comments, the tweets were deleted.
Peter added: “Dan shut that down pretty quickly; he’s very good with that.”
Despite the trolls online, the star was quick to point out that the majority of viewers have been very supportive of the storyline and his character’s comeback after Paul initially appeared for a few episodes last year as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate.
He said: “It’s been great. I’ve seen nothing but positive remarks and that, they like the character so far which is great, really nice…
“It’s amazing, it really is a dream job really as you know I did those little bits last year in the prison with Jack, I had no idea I’d be brought back. So when I thought they did have me back for a bit longer I was well made up, over the moon.”

Hugh Jackman turned down Neighbours role

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman turned down a role on ‘Neighbours’ to go to acting school.
Before he started his career on stage and in film, the 50-year-old actor was offered the chance to star on the Channel 5 soap, but he chose to go to a world-renowned drama school instead so he could fulfil his dream of starring at the National Theatre.
Speaking to Sky Arts’ ‘BAFTA: Life in Pictures’, Hugh said: “I had a job offer for ‘Neighbours’. And I was shocked. I was doing part-time classes. I got this job offer, and I auditioned for this prestigious school, WAAPA – Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. And I got the offer for the drama school the same day I got the offer for Neighbours.
“I ended up taking the drama school, mainly because in my heart of hearts, in my dreams, my goal would be one day to be at the National Theatre, to one day be at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
“For me, watching the John Barton tapes, watching those great actors, I thought that’s the best place in the world to act.”
The ‘Greatest Showman’ star recently recalled his first experience treading the boards, and admitted he “fell in love” with performing from the moment he first stepped foot on stage in a production of ‘Camelot’ when he was just six years old.
He recently said:”I remember when I was about five or six doing ‘Camelot’ on stage at school and, from that moment I went on to the stage, it felt very natural to me.
“Halfway through the show they out a big crown on my head, which was too big and it slipped down and covered my entire face.
“I thought ‘Oh no this is a disaster’ but then I heard an uproarious laugh from the audience and thought ‘No, it’s all good, it’s fun’. I fell in love with it then and I’ve been that way ever since. ”

The 71-year-old actor – who reprised the iconic role for the upcoming movie – admitted he couldn’t wait to star in the Tim Miller-directed film, despite going under the knife just three months earlier.
Speaking about his health, he shared: “I always have a lot of help.
“You need to have the doctors there to pump you up, the nurses there to help you with the walking, to get going again.
“My girlfriend Heather [Milligan] was there, and she was pumping me up all day long and she stayed there at night … Three months later I was on the set of ‘Terminator 6’ shooting in Budapest.”
And Schwarzenegger admitted he is already excited for the film’s release later this year.
He told Extra: “I was very happy with the filming of it, so it will come out in November.”
Schwarzenegger first achieved international fame as a professional bodybuilder, which led to his career in the movie business.
And the veteran star – who has also served as the Governor of California – thinks all of his success can be traced back to his bodybuilding days.
He said: “When I started lifting I got compliments right away.
“‘Wow! You’ve been lifting for a month? This is incredible. Look at your muscles popping out!’ It was the perfect storm.

Filmmaker Paul Feig has also spoken out about the issue.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “I hereby challenge all my fellow producers to accept the @Inclusionists 4% Challenge. The talent is out there. They just need the opportunities. Great new stories, voices, movies and box office will come from it. It’s time! (sic)”

“We saw Goofy and had a selfie with him. None of the characters are allowed to speak and after the photo, Goofy accidentally smacked my phone out of my hand and it smashed into a thousand pieces and I’m like, ‘What the hell, dude…’ and Goofy said nothing and just backed away waving his hands. There was no apology!
“After that my husband bought me a pair of giant Goofy hands, which he thought was hilarious.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to front BCBGMAXAZRIA campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the newest face of BCBGMAXAZRIA.
The 31-year-old model will front the brand’s Modern Goddess Spring/Summer 2019 collection in a campaign styled by Hollywood stylist Kate Young and photographed by Zoey Grossman and the blonde beauty praised the duo and insisted the campaign exuded “fearless femininity”.
In a statement, Rosie said: “The BCBGMAXAZRIA Spring/Summer 2019 campaign was about relaying the message of fearless femininity that is woven throughout this collection.
“It was an honour to work alongside two women who I admire, Zoey Grossman and Kate Young. Working with them further amplified the message of this collection of today’s fearless, strong woman.”
The new range marks the label’s 30th anniversary and featured strong power-suits, column dresses and loose knits as well as pleated skirts in various tones and tropical prints suits.
Although the former Victoria’s Secret Angel is working on a campaign that relays a bold message of feminine power, the star hasn’t always felt safe as a woman in the modelling industry and previously admitted she wants the Time’s Up movement to make the fashion world safer.
Rosie has been in the industry for 15 years and hopes the recent shift in attitudes towards sexual harassment in the workplace in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein abuse claims means models will feel safer on the job after admitting to feeling “unprotected” on set.
She said: “There’s definitely been instances where I’ve felt unprotected and moments where I found myself in situations that were uncomfortable.
“The fashion industry is so relaxed and casual, there’s this expectation on models that the more up for it you are, the better, the further you’ll go along in your career.”

Kit Harrington’s wife didn’t react well to Game of Thrones’ ending

OHMYGOSSIP — Kit Harrington’s wife didn’t speak to him for three days after he told her the ending to ‘Game of Thrones’.
The 32-year-old actor plays Jon Snow in the hit HBO fantasy drama, which is due to air its eighth and final season in April this year, and his spouse Rose Leslie portrayed his on-screen lover Ygritte until season four when she was killed off in a devastating plot twist.
Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) recently admitted that fans won’t be satisfied by the finale, and though Kit teased it will be “groundbreaking”, judging by his wife’s reaction it may come as a shock to fans of the show.
Speaking to Tom & Daisy on KISS Breakfast, Kit said: “I told my wife last year how it ended, and she wouldn’t talk to me for about three days. And she’d asked!”
However, the ‘Gunpowder’ star confessed he’s enjoying keeping it a secret.
He said: “It’s quite nice walking around, which will only happen for a few months before everyone’s seen it, knowing. I know and no one else does. I know how it wraps up. Yeah, I think it’s gonna be groundbreaking.”
Kit – who married Rose in June last year – admitted that he won’t be fully “satisfied” until he’s watched the last episode.
Asked whether he was pleased with how the show comes to an end, he said: “It’s a weird one to answer that, I can’t really answer whether I’m happy or not.
“I don’t think it’s about happy or sad really.
“I’m satisfied with what they did, but I don’t know whether I’ll be really satisfied until I see it.”
Kit also ruled out Jon starring in the prequel series, which stars Naomi Watts, and is the work of Jane Goldman and ‘GoT’ author George R.R. Martin.
Asked if it’s a possibility, he said: “No. I can tell you that, no. I have nothing to do with the prequels. I hope it goes very well for them, and I can’t wait to watch it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Dern has joked that she “can’t shake” Meryl Streep.
The 51-year-old actress will star once again in HBO series ‘Big Little Lies’ with new cast member Meryl in the second season and they are both in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming remake of ‘Little Women’.
She quipped: “I can’t shake this broad! I mean, I was like, why do I have to work with Meryl Streep?”
However, Laura – who portrays Renata Klein in ‘Big Little Lies’ – then admitted it’s been a “dream” being in the company of the 69-year-old screen legend.
She added: “It’s literally the dream of my life, and the fact that I spent from March to Christmas with her is just amazing.”
‘Little Women’ also stars the likes of Timothee Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan and Emma Watson, and Laura – who plays Marmee March – said it was a “very beautiful experience” and heaped praise on director Greta.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It was amazing, can’t wait for everyone to see it.
“I know Greta Gerwig is hard at work in the editing room right now. It was a very, very beautiful experience. I too love the book so much, so amazing I get to play Marmee.”
Meryl will play Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard), in ‘Big Little Lies’, which also stars the likes of Shailene Woodley (Jane Chapman), Reese Witherspoon (Madeline Mackenzie) and Nicole Kidman (Celeste Wright) – with the latter two developing the show with the author of the book its based on, Liane Moriarty.
Meryl got in touch with Nicole about joining the cast after the show scooped four Golden Globes.
Nicole recalled previously: “She goes, ‘I suppose now I have to join you.’
And we were like, ‘What?’ The two of us were just shocked.
“There was no script when Streep signed on. “She hadn’t even read it. That’s how much she wanted to support us.”
Whilst Nicole admitted she was nervous working alongside Meryl, she and Reese wanted to make sure they had the perfect script for the ‘Devil Wears Prada’ star.
And she also teased that the women have “much stronger” roles in season two, which airs later this year.
She said: “You’re acting opposite the great one. I get nervous anyway – but to be opposite her and not want her to think, ‘Who is this amateur?’ And also, we want to deliver a series for her that she’s great in.
“Reese and I were like, ‘We want this for her and for the other women.’
“They have much stronger roles in the second one.”
